OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei had said earlier this year that the company will consider launching the OnePlus 6T smartphone only if there something new to offer. OnePlus is a smartphone brand that belongs to China’s BBK Electronics. Even OPPO and Vivo are the brands of the same company. It was only after OPPO and Vivo had launched couple of smartphones such as OPPO R15, OPPO F7, Vivo V9, and Vivo X21 with notched display design, OnePlus also unveiled the OnePlus 6 with the same design in May. Now that the sibling brands of OnePlus have launched phones with innovative features, it seems that the OnePlus may launch the OnePlus 6T phones this year with aforementioned features. Concept renders of the OnePlus 6T that have surfaced in the recent past show that it will be arriving with features like notch-less display, popup front camera and more.

OnePlus 6T concept renders show that its front and rear sides feature glass panels with an aluminum frame in between. The handset is shown in colors like white, black, red and blue. It features a 6.4-inch Optic AMOLED display that does not feature a notch. The screen is shielded by the newly announced Gorilla Glass 6 protection. The handset is loaded with OxygenOS 5.1 flavored Android 8.1 Oreo.

Like the OnePlus 6, the 6T concept model is powered by Snapdragon 845. The RAM variants of the 6T are 6 GB and 8 GB. The storage versions of the concept model include 64 GB, 128 GB and 256 GB. The back panel of the phone features a tripe camera setup and at the front is the pop-up dual selfie camera setup like the Vivo NEX smartphone.

Motorola XT1929 and XT1924 model numbers respectively belong to Moto Z3 Play and Moto E5 Plus. Both the smartphones are yet to debut in China. The regional variants of these phones for China have respectively surfaced as XT1929-15 and XT1924-9 which indicates that these phones may debut soon in China. The Moto Z3 Play is fueled by Snapdragon 636, but its TENAA listing suggests that it may feature a more powerful SoC. On the other side, the Moto E5 Plus for China seems to be packed with beefed up specs compared to its international variant.

Xiaomi Mi A2 won’t get 4GB RAM and 32GB storage model in India

Earlier this week, Xiaomi launched its two new Android One smartphones — Xiaomi Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite, which are the successor to the last year’s Mi A1. The company has also revealed the launch date for the smartphones in the Indian market — 8th August.

The Mi A2 comes in three variants — 4GB RAM and 32GB storage, 4GB RAM and 64GB storage, and 6GB RAM with 128GB storage. Now, according to the latest report, the China-based company won’t bring the 4GB RAM and 32GB storage model to India.

The report reveals that the Xiaomi Mi A2’s availability in India will start with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage and another variant will pack 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. Further, the Indian variant will also see the addition of fourth color option — Rose Gold, along with Gold, Black, and Blue colors.

While the device was announced with Qualcomm‘s Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging technology, the same technology that’s in the last year’s Mi A1, the Indian version of the Mi A2 will come with Quick Charge 4.0 fast charging technology.

The Xiaomi Mi A2 features a 5.99-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD display with 2160 x 1080 pixels resolution and 18:9 aspect, tucked under a layer 2.5D Gorilla Glass 3. Under the hood, the device is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 AIE processor and Adreno 512 graphics processor.

The dual camera setup on the back includes a 20-megapixel Sony IM376 primary sensor with f/1.75 aperture and 2-micron 4-in-1 Super Pixel and a 12-megapixel Sony IMX486 secondary sensor with 1.25-micron pixel and f/1.75 aperture. On the front side, there’s a 20-megapixel AI-powered selfie snapper.

Connectivity options on the device include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, and 3.5mm headphone jack. There’s also a fingerprint sensor placed on the back panel. Being a part of Google’s Android One program, the smartphone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out-of-the-box and is powered by a 3,000mAh battery.

The images of the smartphone that it could be the Motorola One Power smartphone.

HTC has been reported to be working on a smartphone that has the code name “Imagine Life”. This device is believed to be the HTC U12 Life since the U12 had the codename- “Imagine’. The expected device is said to be tailored along the line of the U11 life which was launched last year drawing some inspiration from the flagship U11.

The key specifications of the model have now made an appearance online. According to the leak, the U12 Life will pack a 6-inch display with a resolution of 1080 x 2160p and an 18:9 aspect ratio. This is very much different from the 5.2-inch 16:9 screen the U11 Life feature. However, the display configuration is similar to that of the flagship U12.

Other revealed specs of the device includes a Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset backed by 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. There’s a microSD slot to further expand the storage. As far as photography is concerned, the U12 Life is said to pack a 16MP + 5MP dual camera on the back that is capable of 4K video capture. Xiaomi Mi A2 models hitting India will exclusively support Quick Charge 4.0

Xiaomi‘s latest Android One phone, the Mi A2 will hit India on August 8. Ahead of that launch, some more details of the device have emerged which points to a slight variation from the model announced in Spain a few days back. According to Android Central, the Mi A2 will have support for Quick Charge 4.0 exclusively in India. The device was announced with Quick Charge 3.0 which is the same fast charge technology available on last year’s Mi A1.

The reason for this exclusiveness was not disclosed but the device will still ship packing a regular 5V/2A charger and not a QC4.0 charger. Buyers who would like to take advantage of this feature will need to shop for a third-party wall charger with QC3.0/4.0 support. It should be noted, though, that there are few wall chargers with such specifications in the market.

The decision to give India Quick Charge 4.0 could be a deal breaker for Xiaomi as there are few models at the Mi A2’s price point with QC 4.0 support. In the long run, it could help the Mi A2 sales in one of the world’s largest markets.

The issue is that the device is expected to take the design of the iPhone X and also sport an LCD screen manufactured by LG, but for a while now there have been problems with “LED backlight leakage”, so the device launch date has to be shifted by one month to solve the problem.

Earlier this year, it was gathered from a report that the device would get 6 weeks delay, but a new rumour states that the device is expected to launch in October while the second generation 5.8-inch iPhone X and 6.5-inch “iPhone X Plus” will “see no delay” and debut in September since they will feature OLED displays.

The 6.1” model would sport a single camera and this is said to be one of the major reasons why it would be cheaper than others. It would come in various colours such as White, Black, Yellow, Orange, Blue, Gold but would not be available in red color. The smartphone is expected to be priced around $700.

Huawei dominates China smartphone market in Q2 2018 with 27% shares – Canalys

Canalys has released its statistics detailing the second quarter performance of the vendors on the Chinese smartphone market. The data shows the market made some tremendous progress when compared to the Q1 2018 performance. Recall that an earlier report by Canalys which captures the shipment for the first quarter of 2018 had revealed that the Chinese phone market slumped by 21% year on year. However, the market rebounded in Q2 but is still down by 8% YoY as the entire vendors shipped 104 million units compared to 113 million shipments recorded in Q2 2017.

There are quite a number of other positive things to take away from the report, though. One of them is the performance of Huawei in the market. The company is blazing through the tide with a total shipment, estimated anyway, of 28.5 million. This represents a record 27% share of the market which is unprecedented. Huawei’s performance for Q2 is also ahead of the 21% growth recorded in Q2 2017 and so, represents a 22% growth. The report also revealed that the Honor brand accounted for 55% of Huawei’s Q2 2018 shipments, up from 33% a year ago. This means that Honor is the biggest lineup in Huawei’s portfolio successfully challenging Xiaomi in the budget/mid-range segment, while also successfully launching its first $500 flagships.

BBK Electronics-owned companies OPPO and Vivo occupy the second and third place respectively. While OPPO grew just 3% YoY, Vivo raked in enough sales to post a 20% market share with 30% growth year-over-year. Xiaomi maintained its solid run from last year with a 14% share to occupy the fourth spot while Apple completes the top 5. Despite the growth, the report predicts that the Chinese market will continue to decline towards the end of this year. The smaller vendors will take the hit harder as they struggle to sustain volumes.

Xiaomi’s Mijia platform is known for being home to a wide variety of things for all ages and sexes but one of its latest products is one specifically designed for women. One of the new products listed on the platform this week is the PMA Menstrual Heating Pad.

The PMA Menstrual Heating Pad contains graphene bars which can be heated up in 1 to 2 seconds to provide relief. You may be wondering how it is powered. The heating pad actually has a MicroUSB port and can be powered by a battery pack. All you have to do is strap it on and plug it into your power bank with the provided cable and you are good to go.

The PMA Menstrual Pad has three temperature levels. The first level is between 41 – 45°C, the second is between 52 – 56°C, and the third is between 63 – 67°C. The temperature can be set via a button in front.

The heating pad is covered in 100% silk. It has a velcro strap and a pocket to hold the power bank. It isn’t thick and has been designed to be comfortable. You can wear it to bed or even wear it out under your clothes without anybody noticing. You can also pull it off at any time and fold it into your bag. Xiaomi says it is waterproof, so don’t have to worry about sweat damaging it.

The PMA Menstrual Pad weighs just 60g and comes in dark green and pink. It is priced at ¥169 (~$25) and comes with a MicroUSB cable. It is also sold with a power bank if you don’t have one, for ¥199 (~$29).

Sony Xperia XZ2 powered by SD845 SoC launched in India for Rs. 72,990 ($1062)

Sony Mobile has today launched its current flagship smartphone in India — Sony Xperia XZ2, which was first introduced at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, Spain earlier this year along with Xperia XZ2 Compact.

The Xperia XZ2 is priced at Rs. 72,990 (approximately $1,062) in India and will be available in Liquid Black color. It will be available for purchase from 1st August through Sony Centre and select mobile stores across the nation.

The smartphone features a 5.7-inch Full HD+ HDR display with screen resolution of 2160 x 3840 pixels. It features TRILUMINOS and X-Reality, making it one of the best display on a flagship smartphone. The display is protected by a layer of Gorilla Glass 5 on top.

Under the hood, the device is powered by Qualcomm‘s Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor along with Adreno 630 GPU. It packs 6GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage along with a microSD card slot support that enables users to further expand the phone’s storage capacity up to 400GB.

As for the optics, there’s a 19-megapixel rear camera with Exmor RS sensor, f/2.0 aperture, predictive capture, 5-axis stabilization, 4K video recording support and 960fps slow-motion video support. On the front side, it comes equipped with a 5-megapixel snapper with Exmor RS sensor, 23mm super wide-angle lens, and f/2.2 aperture.

The device comes with IP65/IP68 certification, ensuring water and dust resistance. Connectivity options on the device include 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz / 5GHz) MIMO, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS/ GLONASS, NFC, and USB 3.1 port. It also has stereo speakers with S-Force Front Surround, DSEE HX, and LDAC.

Running on Android 8.0 Oreo operating system out-of-the-box with the company’s own custom interface on top, the smartphone is fuelled by a 3,180mAh battery that also supports Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging technology.

There’s a Premium edition of the Xperia XZ2 which comes with dual rear cameras but the company has not launched this edition in India. Given the pricing of the standard version, we don’t expect that Sony plans to bring the Premium edition to India.

The India launch of Xperia XZ2 comes at a time when reports related to the company’s upcoming flagship smartphone — Xperia XZ3 are already making rounds. The upcoming smartphone’s renders have also surfaced online, revealing the updated design of the phone. It is expected to get unveiled at IFA 2018 in Berlin.

Honor Play to hit India on August 6 exclusive to Amazon

The Honor Play is all set to be launched in India on August 6 as revealed by teaser poster released by Amazon India on Wednesday. The poster also hinted that the device will be sold exclusively on Amazon India.

Huawei unveiled the gaming-centric Honor Play in China about two months ago. The device happens to be Honor’s first smartphone to feature the custom GPU Turbo software technology. In addition, the device comes in as the cheapest Kirin 970 device. The gaming-centric Honor Play smartphone sports an octa-core Huawei HiSilicon Kirin 970 SoC, and feature a GPU Turbo technology(Mali-G72 GPU) which would do just fine for gaming and overall performance. This is a budget gaming smartphone that can be used as an alternative for high-end Snapdragon 845 gaming devices such as the Nubia Red Magic, Xiaomi Black Shark, Asus gaming smartphone and so on.

Taking a closer look at the device, It comes with a 6.3-inch 1080 x 2340 pixel resolution Full-HD LCD screen with 19.5:9 aspect ratio and 85 percent NTSC color gamut. This chipset is paired with a 6GB RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. In the camera department, It is embedded with a dual rear 16 + 2-megapixel camera setup with AI features. The selfies are handles by a 16-megapixel front camera. Under the hood is a 3,750 mAh battery and runs EMUI 8.2 based on Android 8.1 Oreo.

The pricing of the device in India is yet to be known as Honor kept mute on the issue but in less than 12 days, we would get to know about it. In China the device costs CNY 1,999 (roughly Rs. 21,000) for the 4GB RAM variant and CYN 2,399 (roughly Rs. 25,100) for the 6GB RAM model

Kantar Q2 2018 report places the iPhone X as China’s best-seller and Android as the dominant OS

The latest research by Kantar which covers the smartphone distribution in the major markets for the second quarter of the year is out. The report shows that Android is still the leading OS in the smartphone industry in terms of usage. The report also shows that Apple’s iOS has increased by almost 6 percent in its market shares. This can be attributed to the strong patronage in terms of sales the iPhone 8 and iPhone X have enjoyed in the US.

Kantar report also shows that Android has gained more ground in China and Great Britain but has lost a bit in Germany, France, Spain and the US if compared to Q2 of 2017. It shows that Andriod still retains 80.5% in Germany, 61% in the US, 64.5% in the UK and over 80% in Italy, Spain, and China. The Huawei P20 Pro performance in the UK this quarter has been marvellous, and this can also be an attribute of the boost of Android in the UK. If compared to last year report, Huawei’s UK market share boosted from 2.7% in Q2 of 2017 to 13.7% in Q2 of 2018. Also, Huawei is another major player in the Android’s OS share expansion in China as well.

The most interesting aspect of the report is the disclosure that iPhone X is the best-selling device in China in the quarter under review. This is despite it being several months since the device was launched in November 2017. The report equally shows that Apple is topping the chart, with 8 of its devices among the top 10 best-selling smartphones. Kantar credits this success to a large number of units of the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus sold. Apple also has devices of all ranges such as the low-end iPhone SE all the way to the more expensive iPhone X which helped out.

Exclusive: Google Pixel 3 XL casing gives us another peek at the design

Google is expected to unveil its third-gen Pixel series model within the second half of the year. The model has been a regular on renders and leaks with some details coming out along the line. We have now laid our hands on a set of CAD drawing of the protective casing for the Google Pixel 3 XL. The casing seems to have been designed in line with the renders of the Pixel 3 XL that is already in the open.

From the renders outed with the casing, it is reaffirmed that the Pixel 3 XL will have a notch display design at the from with a dual camera setup lying within the notched aspect. The leaked casing also reaffirms that the device will come with a single camera at the rear which is sort of a surprise as it deviates from the growing dual camera trend. The leaked casing shows the rear camera will be located at the top left corner while there will be a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor at the middle. The renders also include that of the front and it is still similar to the earlier one, that is a notch design with the notch housing dual camera sensors and the earpiece. The render also shows the device will have the front-facing stereo speaker located at the chin. While there are two cameras at the front, Google Pixel 3 XL will pack a single sensor at the back. The device also has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor

It beats our imagination why Google would want to stick with a single rear camera sensor when the trend is dual sensors. We’d have expected a single sensor on the Pixel 3 and a dual camera setup on the Pixel 3XL but that may not be the case.

Meizu 16 and Meizu 16 Plus hit TENAA (Full Specs)

The Meizu 16 and Meizu 16 Plus were seen on TENAA’s database yesterday but only a few of the specs were revealed. Now the network agency has made available for public viewing the full specifications of both phones.

Meizu 16 Plus (M892Q)

The Meizu 16 Plus has a 6.5-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2160 x 1080. It is powered by a 2.8GHz octa-core processor which has been confirmed to be the Snapdragon 845. It also has 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

In the camera department, the Meizu 16 Plus will have dual rear cameras. The primary one is a 12MP sensor and it is paired with a 20MP secondary sensor with 3x lossless zoom. It also has a second 20MP sensor in front for selfies. This is the exact camera configuration as the Meizu 15 Plus.

The Meizu 16 Plus will run Android 8.1 Oreo and pack a 3570mAh battery. TENAA confirms that the phone has support for fast charging and does have an in-display fingerprint scanner too.

When it launches, it will be available in Dark Ochre (black), Mirror Silver, and Mirror Blue. It will weigh 180g and measure 160.4 x 78.2 x 7.3 mm.

Meizu 16 (M882Q)

The Meizu 16 is the smaller variant as it comes with a 6.0-inch screen. The display is also AMOLED and has the same 2160 x 1080 resolution as the Plus model.

Unlike the Meizu 15 and Meizu 15 Plus which use different processors, the Meizu 16 will come with the same chipset as its bigger sibling. It will also have the same RAM and storage. Camera configuration is also the same.

The Meizu 16 will come with Android 8.1 Oreo and an in-display fingerprint scanner. However, it will have a smaller 2950mAh battery.

Coolpad Cool Play 7 silently launched, main unveiling scheduled for July 30

Coolpad has silently launched the Cool Play 7. The new phone succeeds the Cool Play 6 announced last year but arrives a month earlier. Although the device does come with a modern design, Coolpad has equipped it with a less powerful processor.

The Cool Play 7 has a 5.85-inch HD display with a 19:9 aspect ratio and a bit of bezel at the bottom of the screen. The back is also made of glass with an oleophobic coating like the front too while the frame is made of zinc alloy.

Coolpad has swapped out the Snapdragon 653 SoC of the Cool Play 6 for MediaTek’s MT6750 1.5GHz octa-core processor. The chipset is paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage.

The phone comes with two 13MP sensors on the rear and can take portrait photos and record slow-motion videos. Housed within the notch is an 8MP camera for selfies with a bunch of beauty filters. The phone supports Face Unlock and also has a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.

Coolpad says the phone has an AI assistant that is pretty useful for hands-free usage. You can give it commands to launch apps, make calls, and set reminders.

The Cool Play 7 has a 2800mAh battery and a micro USB port for charging. It also has Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, FM radio, and a 3.5mm audio jack for connectivity.
