The pre-orders have shown that the ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M1 will be a very popular one and will be sold out pretty quickly. Perhaps, in a bid to ride on the shoulders of its popularity, ASUS has released the kernel source code and bootloader unlock tool for the device.

Thus, users can now download the kernel source code which would come in handy for the development of Custom ROM. Users can also now officially unlock the bootloader of the device but there is a caveat. Using the official bootloader unlock tool will void users’ warranty. However, the release of the official bootloader unlock tool signify that users can now flash generic system images (GSIs) of AOSP Android Oreo as well as LineageOS and ResurrectionRemix.

The ASUS Zenfone Max Pro M1 is coming into a very competitive terrain, as it falls in the same lower mid-range segment as the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro in terms of specifications, including the Snapdragon 636 chip. ASUS wisely priced the Zenfone Max Pro M1 lower than its contemporary and ships it with custom Android 8.1 Oreo instead of giving it the Zen UI skin. Xiaomi Announces It Will Launch In France and Italy By Month’s End

Xiaomi is focused on its expansion in Europe this year. A few weeks ago, we reported it opened a store in the Czech Republic and last week it was reported it had partnered with Three in the UK. Today, it has officially announced its entry into two new European markets.

The Chinese manufacturer has revealed via a Twitter post that it will arrive in France and Italy on the 22nd and 24th of May respectively. Xiaomi already sells its products in Italy but only online. On May 24, it will open its first Mi Store in the country.

Other European countries Xiaomi is present in are Spain, Russia, Ukraine, Poland. Its partnership with Three will also add the UK, Denmark, Austria, Ireland, and Sweden.

Tech enthusiasts are eagerly waiting for the arrival of Samsung’s first foldable smartphone. Earlier this year, Samsung CEO DJ Koh had claimed that the company will not be hurrying to launch the highly anticipated foldable phone. He had added that it will be made official only when it is completely ready. Fresh information shared by a South Korean publication states that Samsung may debut its first foldable phone at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2019 tech trade show in February next. As far as the Galaxy S10 is concerned, Samsung is likely to debut it in January next year.

The Bell has learned from its sources that Samsung is scheduled to receive components for the foldable phone starting from November this year. Also, it claims that the company has changed the codename of the foldable phone from Valley to Winner. The report states that since the development phase of the phone is getting over and it is nearing the release, the company has decided to change its codename. As mentioned above, the South Korean company is reportedly aiming to launch it at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2019 in February next year.

Samsung’s foldable phone is expected to feature fold-in design that will include a total of three OLED panels. Each panel is speculated to be sized around 3.5 inches. When opened, the device will provide its users with a 7-inch screen space to use it like tablet.

Since the company had used the MWC 2018 platform to debut the Galaxy S9, initial rumors have claimed that the Galaxy S10 – the 10^th anniversary Galaxy S series smartphones may get official at MWC 2019. However, since new information has claimed that the firm may debut its foldable smartphone at the same venue, it is now being speculated that the Galaxy S10 may get an early launch next year. It is likely that the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2019 that will take place in Las Vegas in January next year could be the platform the company may use to announce the Galaxy S10.

To ensure that the Galaxy S10 gets official in January 2019, Samsung is reportedly aiming to receive its components by October this year. The South Korean firm has never used the CES platform to announce its flagship phones but has only used it showcase consumer electronics devices like TVs, refrigerators and so on. Hence, it is advisable to take this report with a pinch of salt.

Earlier this year, China-based Xiaomi had launched Mi TV 4A as a new series in the company’s lineup of smart TVs. Now, a 50-inch model of the Mi TV 4A has received a discount of 200 Yuan (approximately $31) as a part of the company’s “Mother’s Day” special event.

On Thursday, Xiaomi will be launching the Redmi S2 smartphone. Plenty of details of the phone have already surfaced in the recent weeks. A new report had revealed that the Redmi S2 may introduce the new Remi S (could be Redmi Selfie) series of smartphones. Even before its official announcement, the global edition of the Redmi S2 has already surfaced on AliExpress. The listing contains the entire specifications of the phone along with its pricing.

The listing of Xiaomi Redmi S2 at AliExpress reveals that its metallic chassis measures 160.73 x 77.26 x 8.1mm. The rear side of the phone resembles with the Xiaomi Mi 6X as it features vertically arranged dual camera setup and fingerprint reader. It sports u-shaped antenna design on the top and bottom edges of the back panel. Grey, Pink and Gold are the color variants of the Redmi S2.

The Redmi S2 houses a 5.99-inch IPS LCD display that produces HD+ resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels. The screen delivers a wider viewing experience in landscape mode as it offers an aspect ratio of 18:9. The Snapdragon 625 SoC powers the phone along with 3 GB of RAM. It includes an internal storage of 32 GB. It supports a microSD card through hybrid SIM slot. There is no information available on the other storage and RAM editions of the Redmi S2.

For photography, the rear panel of the Redmi S2 features a dual camera setup that includes a 12-megpaixel primary sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor. The AI dual cameras of the phone will capture optimized photos through features like AI Portrait and AI Beauty features. For snapping selfies, the S2 possesses a soft selfie-light LED equipped 16-megapixel front-facing snapper.

The handset receives power from 3,080mAh battery. The handset is expected to come loaded with Android 8.1 Oreo that will be overlaid with MIUI 9 proprietary UI from Xiaomi. It is speculated that the Chinese manufacturer may also launch an Android One edition of the phone that won’t include the MIUI 9 skin.

It seems that the seller has managed to acquire official pictures of the phone which can be seen at the bottom of the Redmi S2 listing on the retailer site. The AliExpress listing does not contain accurate pricing of the phone. It only states that the handset is priced between $159 and $187. Leaked information from the previous week states that the handset could be priced around ~$175 in Vietnam. The pricing leak suggests that the Redmi S2 will be available with an affordable price tag.

Honor 7S: The Cheapest Honor Phone Of 2018 Is Coming To Europe

Huawei’s sub-brand is preparing the launch of a new affordable device in the European market: Honor 7S. According to the famous leakster Roland Quandt, the handset will land in some European markets as a low-end variant of the Honor 7A. It is expected to be the most affordable handset launched by Honor in 2018 and it will feature entry-level specs. According to leaked renders it will not even have a fingerprint reader unlike other Honor devices unveiled last year.

Its internals will house a quad-core MediaTek MT6739 SoC running at a max frequency of 1.5 GHz, as well as 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage expandable via micro SD. Honor 7S will sport a 5.45-inch display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and an HD+ resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels. Its main camera will have a 13 MP resolution while on the front side there will be a 5 MP selfie snapper with a front-facing LED flash.

OnePlus 6 Protective Skin Case Offers A Glimpse Of The Rear Design

Phone protective skin or cases have become vital accessories for phone buyers so it is not surprising how fast manufacturers come out with protective cases even before the official arrival of the phone. One good thing about the release of the protective cases is that they offer us an early look at the design while we are yet to see the device in real skin. The OnePlus 6 protective skin cases are here with us. The material the cases were made from wasn’t indicated. It seems to be made of Thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) materials considering that it comes in a clear, transparent option in additon to the black one but it could as well be vinyl-based cases.

The protective cases doesn’t really say much about the OP6 design but we already know the device will feature a notch design at the display. The protective case just goes to confirm the presence of a dual camera setup at the rear which are aligned ina vertical direction at the centre. The LED flash is located just underneath the camera with the rear-mounted fingerprint scanner just below the flash.

The OnePlus 6volume rockers and power button will be located on thee right side of the display. The device salso coming with a Type-C port and a 3.5mm audio jack port, all located at the bottom edge. It should be noted that these are thrid-party creations so we can’t say for sure if this will be the OnePlus rear design.

Xiaomi Is Working On A Snapdragon 638 Powered Smartphone Codenamed “Valentino”

Earlier this year, Xiaomi became the first smartphone manufacturer to launch a device powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 636 processor — Xiaomi Redmi Note 5. Later, a couple of devices powered by the same processor got launched, namely Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1, Asus Zenfone 5, and Meizu E3.

Now, Xiaomi is again so to be working on a smartphone that is powered by Qualcomm‘s upcoming yet announced chipset — Snapdragon 638, which is expected to be an upgraded version of the Snapdragon 636 SoC.

The China-based company is reportedly working on a smartphone codenamed “Valentino”, which has now surfaced on a benchmarking website Geekbench. The phone’s listing on Geekbench reveals that the device is powered by SDM638 processor, which is clocked at 1.44GHz and has octa-core CPU.

The listing further reveals that the device packs 6GB RAM and is running on the Android 8.1 Oreo operating system. It has managed to 1485 points in Geekbench’s single-core test and 5440 points in the multi-core test.

While nothing is yet known about this Snapdragon 638 chipset, it appears that the single-core score of the chipset is higher than the Snapdragon 650 and slightly lower than the Snapdragon 820. The chipset is expected to come equipped with Adreno 509 or higher GPU.

At Mobile World Congress this year, Qualcomm announced its new Snapdragon 700 series for processors, bringing on-device artificial intelligence thanks to Qualcomm’s AI Engine, along with improvements to the camera, device performance, and power consumption.

Meanwhile, Xiaomi is currently set to launch its new Redmi S-series smartphone — Redmi S2 on 10th May. The smartphone seems to be focusing on the camera capabilities, as the company has already confirmed that the device will come with an AI Portrait mode as well as AI beauty feature.

According to the previous leaks, Xiaomi Redmi S2 packs Snapdragon 625 chipset and the device will be available in three variants based on memory configuration — 2GB RAM, 3GB RAM and 4GB RAM and 16GB, 32GB and 64GB storage options.

On the rear side, the phone is said to have a dual camera setup with a 12MP + 5MP combo while for selfies, the device will feature a big 16MP sensor. It will be running Android 8.1 Oreo-based MIUI 9.5 out-of-the-box and will be powered by a 3,000mAh battery.

A new and interesting upper-midrange phone is feeding the rumors in the past few days: 360 N7. Even though it doesn’t come from one of the popular Chinese brands in the world, this handset will represent an important rival of the best Chinese mid-range phones out there, such as Oppo R15, Vivo X21, and Xiaomi Mi 6X. 360 Mobiles has just published a new image which confirms the launch date of the new device as well as its focus on artificial intelligence. According to the teaser, the phone will be able to think instead of the user and provide a very advanced user experience thanks to AI. The teaser also confirms the announcement date: 360 N7 will be official on May 8 at Beijing Film Director’s Center. The score is consistent with the ones obtained by smartphones powered by the Snapdragon 660 SoC. 360 N7 is expected to come with the octa-core Helio P60 chipset, which is actually the best SoC by MediaTek with a max clock frequency of 2 GHz.

The processor, manufactured with a 12 nm production process, will be supported by 6 GB of RAM and 64 or even 128 GB of internal storage depending on the variant. 360 N7 is said to sport a 5.99-inch Full HD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and a dual camera setup on its rear side. Its design should be entirely made of metal just like most of the other mid-rangers, while the battery should support Pump Express technology (18W fast charging). New Xiaomi Redmi S2 Official Posters Project its AI Portrait & AI Beauty Features

Xiaomi is expected to launch the Redmi S2 in an event that wouldbe held at Suning headquarters in Nanjing, China. Xiaomi Redmi S2 is a new Redmi series and so not much is known about the features the device would pack. Xiaomi has now revealed two key features of the Redmi S2 via a couple of official posters and they bother on the camera. The poster shows the device will come with an AI Portrait mode as well as AI beauty feature.

Xiaomi Redmi S2 should be a lower mid-range model which has a lot of design similarities with the recently launched Mi 6X. However, Xiaomi seems to also bring the AI features of the Mi 6X into this model. The Portrait mode based on artificial intelligence will enhance facial rcognition of thefront camera to make it more accurate and also to bring ore blur to the background. The camera also comes with AI Beauty which has the ability to recognize the makeup on the face of a lady and beautify the photo while protecting the lip makeup and eye detail colors.

These are basically similar features that most Xiaomi phones released recetly are being projected as featuring. It now seems like an abuse of the word “AI”. But then, Xiaomi calls the features AI Portrait mode and AI Beauty. We’ll have to wait to see how the features pan out.

As a reminder, the device is expected to feature a similar 5.99-inch display with the 18:9 aspect ratio. However, the display resolution will be an HD+ (1440 x 720pixels) resolution. The device also seems to retain the ultra-thin build of the Mi 6X but we can’t tell from all of the pictures if the 3.5mm audio jack will also be missing on this model. Also visible is the U-shaped antenna design at the back and the dual camera setup stacked vertically. There is also a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.

Furthermore, Xiaomi Redmi S2 packs a Snapdragon 625 chipset clocked at 2.0GHz. The device will also come in 2GB RAM, 3GB RAM and 4GB RAM variants as well as 16GB, 32GB and 64GB storage options. Keeping the lights on is a 3000mAh battery. The rear cameras are said to be a 12MP + 5MP combo while for selfies, the device will feature a big 16MP sensor. Providing the interface will be the Android 8.1 Oreo-based MIUI 9.5. Finally, the Redmi S2 will be available in several color variants, including Pink which is the colour of the model on display.

Exclusive: Leaked Xiaomi Mi 7 Cases Confirm Some Design Features

Unconfirmed reports tip the Xiaomi Mi 7 as launching on May 23. Even though the date isn’t certain, we won’t fail to notice the avalanche of leaks bothering on the Mi 7 that have been appearing online lately. You may wish to check out our Mi 7 rumour round up article. Yet another Mi 7 leak has appeared online. This time around we get to see the TPU case of the device. Ordinarily, this would have been nothing spectacular if not that it confirms a few features of the device.

One of the features that the TPU cases confirms is the presence of the 3.5mm audio jack on the device. The cut out for the 3.5mm audio jack is located at the chin, just by the side of the USB port. In addition, the USB port is a Type-C port. At the top edge, there is only an opening for the IR blaster.

The cases also seem to lay to rest talks of the Mi 7 packing a vertically aligned rear camera similar to that of the Mi Mix 2s in design. The power button and volume rockets are all located at the right-hand side of the device.

The Mi 7 tempered glass protective panel recently leaked reaffirming the notch design on the device. On the internals, there is no doubt that the flagship will be powered by a Snapdragon 845 SoC. The SoC is expected to be coupled with 6 GB of RAM. It may come in storage choices like 64 GB and 128 GB. It will likely pack a 3350mAh battery. The Chinese manufacturer has already introduced wireless charging on the Mi MIX 2S flagship phone. Hence, the 3,350mh battery of the Mi 7 is also expected to carry support for Qi wireless charging.

Recently, a smartphone from Samsung with a codename SM-G8950 was benchmarked, revealing some of the phone’s specifications. According to the rumors, the smartphone will be named Samsung Galaxy S8 Lite.

Now, the said smartphone has been certified in China by TENAA, again revealing the phone’s specification. The TENAA certification hints that the phone’s official launch is not far away.

The Galaxy S8 Lite is expected to feature a 5.8-inch Full HD+ Infinity Display with screen resolution of 2220 x 1080 pixels. Under the hood, it will be powered by Qualcomm‘s Snapdragon 660 octa-core processor along with Adreno 512 GPU.

It will pack 4GB RAM and come with 64GB of onboard storage. There’ll be a microSD card slot, allowing users to further expand the phone’s storage capacity up to 256GB. As of the camera, the device is expected to come with a 16-megapixel camera at the back, along with an LED flash. A few months ago, Vivo launched Vivo Y75, a mid-range smartphone under its Y-series in China. Now, the China-based smartphone manufacturer is getting ready to launch Vivo Y75s.

The upcoming smartphone has already been certified by TENAA, revealing the phone’s specifications. Further, the device has also appeared on the company’s official website along with the renders of the phone’s design.

Design-wise, the smartphone resembles the Vivo V7 Plus. The phone is expected to come with a Game Mode as well as its recently announced Jovi AI Assistant.

According to the TENAA listing, the Vivo Y75s will feature a 5.99-inch FullView display with screen resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels with 18:9 aspect ratio and 2.5D curved glass. Under the hood, it is powered by a 1.8GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 450 octa-core processor with Adreno 506 graphics processor.

The device packs 4GB RAM and comes with 64GB of internal storage and supports microSD card of up to 256GB. It is expected to feature a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with an LED flash on the top-left corner and a 16-megapixel front-facing snapper with LED flash.
