Oukitel K10000 Pro Review – 10.000mAh Battery Phone Got Upgraded

We all love the fact that phones have tons of features. However, battery life remains one of the main issues of smartphones nowadays. Oukitel K10000 Pro aims to solve this issue by cramming in a huge 10000mAh battery. Stay tuned to find out if this phone is worth the price of about $180.

VIDEO REVIEW

[embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4jATtKkT7Sc[/embedyt]

UNBOXING

The phone ships in a ridiculously huge box and inside of it, you can find a lot of extras.

Besides all the usual stuff, the phone ships with both a regular and tempered glass screen protectors. Also, you get a quality soft TPU case to protect your phone, USB OTG cable that allows you to connect external devices like USB flash drives, a fast charger and last but least, a holster case to improve your smartphone quick draw game.

DESIGN, DISPLAY, BATTERY LIFE

Same as last year, the K10000 Pro is just gigantic, heavy and bad-ass looking. This phone weighs almost 300g and it can literally crush every phone on market with its strong metal chassis.

The phone is so huge due to its massive 10000mAh battery that literally lasts for days. Depending on how you use the phone, it will last you for the entire week.

That translates to over 20 hours of screen on time on a mixed use or same as on the last year’s Oukitel K10000, you can achieve a whopping 35 hours of screen-on time.

It’s great that the phone ships with the fast charger and I were able to fully charge the battery in about 2.5 h.

The device is well-built but it is definitely not for everyone due to its sheer size and weight. Also, I’m not digging that fake leather back finish, which seems like a downgrade compared to the last year’s metal-made model.

The buttons are tactile but I found the volume rocker to be rattling.

As far as display, we have a decent 5.5” 1080p panel that does have a somewhat bluish tint but in general, it is a pretty good screen for a budget phone. Also, it is covered with the unspecified version of the Gorilla Glass.

Unfortunately, there is no LED notification light and no backlight in the capacitive keys.

The fingerprint scanner is not the fastest I’ve seen but it gets the job done to unlock the phone straight from the standby mode.

The loudspeaker quality is just mediocre.

HARDWARE and PERFORMANCE

The Oukitel K10000Pro is not the most powerful phone out there but it still has decent specs like an octa-core MTK6750T chip, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of expandable storage.

The gaming performance is pretty good if you play the 3D games on medium graphics settings. If you set graphics to the maximum, you should expect quite a few skipped frames and a bit of stutter.

BENCHMARKS

USER INTERFACE

I appreciate the fact that the phone ships with the Android 7.0 out of the box and that the phone is usually fast, responsive and fluid even after installing quite a few apps. However, I don’t like that Oukitel redesigned the icons, so they all look pretty much the same to me.

There are some added features like gesture and motion controls and most of them work fine. You can also use the fingerprint scanner gestures, which is a nice feature to have but I didn’t use it much because the phone is simply too big to reach the fingerprint sensor with my hobbit hands.

CAMERAS

When it comes to optics, the phone has a 13MP main camera that is coupled with the LED flash and 5MP front-facing shooter.

The image quality is just mediocre. Sure, you can take some usable pictures for social media but more often than not, you will end up with having images that lack detail, the colors are washed out and the dynamic range is off.

Same can be said about the low-light pictures that are also ruined by a red tint.

The selfie image quality will not impress you but again, you will be able to take some usable photos for social media.

[embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=162MpOm_7dE[/embedyt]

The 1080p video looks just like the upscaled 720p and the quality of the footage is mediocre. The selfie video looks kind of terrible since it is only in 480p resolution. Make sure to check out the video samples on the TechLineHD extras channel. All the links are in the video description.

CONNECTIVITY

As far as connectivity goes, I would rate the call quality above average and signal reception is good. Other connectivity options like Wifi, Bluetooth work fine and the GPS is pretty accurate for a budget device.

The K10000 Pro has only 3 sensors like accelerometer, light, and proximity. Unfortunately, there is no gyroscope, so if you love using VR headsets, this phone may not be for you.

CONCLUSIONS

So, there you have it, the monster Oukitel K10000 Pro that has the best battery life on any smartphone in 2017. This phone offers a lot of value for the price.

However, the device has just a mediocre camera, the volume rocker rattles, and the phone lacks some basic features like a notification LED light and backlit capacitive keys.

If you don’t mind these shortcomings, and if you need a phone that will last you forever, go for it as you will not find anything better. Just keep in mind that the K10000 Pro is definitely not for everyone due to its sheer size and weight.

Amazon India Page Source Reveals Gold OnePlus 5 Coming Next Week

OnePlus released a teaser hinting at a new OnePlus 5 scheduled to launch next week. While we already guessed that it is a gold variant, we now have proof to back it up, thanks to Twitter user @KaranArjun007.

OnePlus 5 Gold

If you still remember, back before the OnePlus 5 was officially released, we were able to confirm the specs of the device by viewing the page source of the teaser landing page on Amazon India. This is basically the same thing.

There is a page teasing the launch of the device next week. If you check the page source and do a search for “Gold”, you should have something identical to the image below, confirming a gold OnePlus 5.

OnePlus 5 Gold

The OnePlus 5 is available in two colors for now. There is a slate grey version with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage and a Midnight Black model with 8GB RAM and 128GB of storage. We  don’t know if the Gold variant will be limited to one memory configuration or be available for both.

The Gold OnePlus 5 will be an Amazon India exclusive like the other two. The launch date is August 8 and we expect it to go on sale immediately after.

LG V30 Render Leaks Alongside LG G6 & Galaxy S8 Revealing Entire Front

Yet another render of the LG V30 has leaked again, this time showing the entire front aspect of the flagship model which is expected to be announced soon. The V30 is expected to come with a number of upgrades that would place it way higher than its predecessor, the V20. The render shows the V30 standing side by side with the LG G6 and the Galaxy S8 in what would be seen as a comparison of their sizes.

lg v30

The render shows the V30 will likely come with a curved display which recent disclosure pinpoints to be an OLED display with FullVision features. The render also shows the V30 will have a slightly different aspect ratio from the G6 and Galaxy S8 which makes it a little wider than both existing flagships. The bezels on upper and lower aspects of the device are also said to have been reduced and that is reflected on the render which we can’t say is real or not. Another thing we can grab is the absence of a front home button on the device just like on its predecessor. lg v30 The exact specifications of the upcoming  LG flagship are still not fully known but the device is tipped to pack a 5.7-inch display with QHD resolution and an 18:9 aspect ratio. The device is also expected to come with 6GB of RAM and powered by the Snapdragon 835 chip. The interface is expected to be provided by LG UI based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat. The V30 is strongly expected to be unveiled on August 31, just before the start of IFA Berlin 2017.

The First Ever Moto X4 Image Is The Final Design

On July 4, famed Leaker Evan Blass, released an image he said is of the Moto X4. We had no cause to doubt him because this is like the uncrowned king of leaks, right? However in a new tweet today, he revealed that the Moto X4’s final design is actually the very first one we saw when we first heard of the device’s existence and not the most recent one.

In his latest tweet, he admits that the image he shared back in July was probably bad info or an early render. He has seen the final design and it is the one on the left and not the one on the right in the images below.

[envira-gallery id=”143586″]

The major difference between both images is the design of the dual rear cameras. The Moto X4 will maintain the circular design which seems to be the standard for all Motorola phones. However it will have the LED flash at the top instead of the bottom and the area round the sensors won’t be coated black.

The phone will have glass on both sides, a front-mounted fingerprint scanner and an IP68-rating.

Huawei Mate 10 Could Come With the Recently Trademarked EntireView Display

Smartphone manufacturers have increasingly focused on branding their technologies, in order to set it apart from competitors. Remember how Apple’s Retina display was a big deal a few years back? Samsung Galaxy S8 with its “Infinity Display” and LG G6 with its “Full Vision Display” made the headlines in 2017 with its unusual screen aspect ratio. Now, it looks like Huawei is all set to follow suit with its own branding “EntireView Display”.

Huawei-EntireView-Display

A Dutch website spotted a trademark application at the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) by Huawei for the word, “Entireview Display”. Unfortunately, the trademark application doesn’t come with an image, so we are not sure how this new display will look like.

However, judging from the previously leaked renders and the word applied for the trademark, Huawei could likely release the Mate 10 with an all screen display, similar to what we saw on the Galaxy S8. The application is still under review but it would most likely be approved sometime before the launch of the Mate 10 flagship.

Huawei Mate 10 Leak 2

According to previous information, the Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 Lite models are expected to be announced on October 16. The Mate 10 is said to be priced upwards of $1000, featuring top-end specs like Kirin 970 based on 10nm process and an all screen 6.1-inch 2160 x 1080p display. The smaller 5.8-inch Mate 10 Lite model is said to cater to the needs of the regular customers, with lower specs and a cheaper price tag.

Android O Releasing Officially in the Coming Week?

Android 8.0 is the upcoming version of the Android OS that will succeed Android 7.0 Nougat. The official name of the Android O is still under the wraps. Currently, the Android 8.0 version is being referred as Android O by various tech sites. Last year, Android 7.0 Nougat was officially released on Aug. 22. According to Android Police’s managing editor, David Ruddock, Google may release Android 8.0 in the coming week.

The first developer preview of the Android 8.0 was released in March followed by the second, third and fourth developer previews in respective months of May, June and July. The official Android Program Overview page states that the final version of Android will be releasing in the third quarter of this year.

At the start of June, Ruddock had claimed that Android O would be releasing in the first or second week of August citing an unnamed reliable source. He had claimed that the Android O would be releasing a bit earlier than Android Nougat in 2016.

https://twitter.com/RDR0b11/status/892805211395284992

Through a new tweet, Ruddock claims that the Android O update would be officially hitting Google Pixel devices in about a week. There is a possibility that its arrival may get delayed at the last moment. Hence, the search engine giant does not always make announcement on the arrival of updates.

Some rumor have claimed that the Android O will be officially introduced as Android Oatmeal Cookie. The references of Oatmeal Cookie were found in the Google I/O 2017 slides. Earlier rumors have claimed that it may arrive as Android Oreo. Apart from Google Pixel and Pixel XL phones, the Nexus 6P, Nexus 5X, Google Pixel C and Nexus Player are also expected to get Android O update. The upcoming Google Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2 flagship phones are likely to come preloaded with it.

OPPO R11 FC Barcelona Edition Goes On Sale August 8

Yesterday OPPO released a teaser hinting at a new smartphone said to be unveiled today. We were able to deduce that the phone is actually a special FC Barcelona edition of the OPPO R11. Today a new poster was released confirming our guess. However, it won’t be available until August 8.

OPPO R11 FC Barcelona Edition

OPPO isn’t new to making special editions of its flagship device. Last year it released the OPPO R9 FC Barcelona Edition which was available in Blue, Red and Gray. So it is no surprise that it is doing the same this year. The new poster reveals that their new phone, the R11 will get the same treatment as there is the club’s logo at the top right corner.

We don’t know if OPPO will follow the same procedure as they did for the R9. The R9 FC Barcelona Edition was available in four variants. There was a single special unit that had the signatures of football stars Lionel Messi, Suarez and Neymar Jr and an 18 carat Gold Barcelona logo. That unit was sold for $13,500 and the money was given to charity. Then there were the red, blue and grey units that sold for under a $1000. Chances are the R11 will get the same treatment.

iPhone 8 Rumors: 7 New Features Include Face ID Apple Pay, OLED Status Bar, Tap to Wake, SmartCam & More

At the end of July, Apple had released an early firmware for its HomePod smart speaker that be released in the market in December. Several information of the upcoming iPhone 8 has surfaced through the firmware of the smart speaker. Here is a low down of all the information related to iPhone 8 that have been found in the code of the iPhone 8 by iOS developers like Guilherme Rambo, Steve Troughton-Smith and Jeffery Grossman

iPhone 8 Design

Buried in the code of the HomePod is an image of a device that carries a codenamed of D22. The image shows the alleged iPhone 8 with full-screen design and a u-shaped upper bezel. This image corresponds to the leaked renders of the iPhone 8 that support the same design. There is no confirmation on whether the iPhone 8 is codenamed as D22. The iPhone 8 is expected to come with a 5.8-inch OLED screen.

iPhone 8 outline

OLED Status Bar

The u-shaped bezel will have some unused corners on the left and right corners of the OLED screen. Grossman has found that some references of UIStatusBar in the firmware code which suggests that the OLED screen portions on the left and right sides of the u-shaped bezel at the top will show information such as network strength, battery capacity, time and Bluetooth status.

iPhone 8 screen protector

Facial Recognition

An image of the alleged front panel of iPhone 8 that had surfaced in the last week suggested that it would be featuring a pair of iris sensors on the top bezel probably for the 3D facial recognition feature. There are plenty of references related to the facial recognition feature in the code of HomePod’s firmware. Rambo has discovered that the Apple Pay authentication can be carried out through facial recognition

This suggests that the iPhone 8 is very likely to feature facial scanning feature and it may be called Face ID. Coded information suggested that Face ID is codenamed as Pear ID. According to Troughton-Smith, there is no reference of under the display Touch ID sensor which suggests that the iPhone 8 may not feature an under-screen fingerprint scanner or the feature may be completely axed. Some rumors claim that the Touch ID sensor may be embedded in the large-sized Power button of the iPhone 8.

Tap to Wake

Touching the Home button usually turns on the display of an iPhone. Apple may do away this feature in the upcoming iPhone 8 because a new feature called “Tap to Wake” has been found in the code of HomePod’s software. This feature will possibly allow users to double-tap on the screen to activate the screen.

Virtual Home Button

The full-screen display on the iPhone 8 will probably result in the removal of the physical Home button. It has been found that the iPhone 8 may have an on-screen Home button that will be placed in the rumored Function Area at the bottom of the screen.

SmartCam

Apple iPhone 8 may arrive with a new SmartCam scene selection functionality to shoot amazing photos by automatically selecting the right scene from options like Baby, Bright Stage, Document, Fireworks, Foliage, and more

Wireless Charging

The references of inductive charging and 2017 iPhone suggest that not only the iPhone 8 but also the rumored iPhone 7S and 7S Plus would be coming with wireless charging feature.

LG V30 to be the First LG Phone with OLED FullVision Display

In 2015, the LG G Flex 2 had arrived with an OLED screen. The South Korean company has now confirmed that its upcoming flagship (still refrains from revealing it as LG V30) will be its first smartphone to arrive with an OLED FullVision screen. Just as the LG G6 came with Full Vision screen, the rumored LG V30 will also feature Full Vision display. According to the company, OLED displays work very well VR apps.

The President of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company, Juno Cho has said that now is the best time to relaunch devices enabled with OLED screen as there is fierce competition between various smartphone OEMs. The 6-inch OLED screen that LG has incorporated in its next flagship is the largest ever screen the company has used on its mobile handset in more than four years.

Because of the FullVision features, the size of the LG V30 will be smaller than its predecessor, the LG V20. Compared to V20, the upper bezel on LG V30 has been reduced by 20 percent and there is 50 percent reduction in the lower bezel. Moreover, the LG V30 will be offering more viewing space on the screen. The LG V20 had the company’s logo sitting on the chin of the phone. However, the LG V30 will have the logo placed on its rear side.

To be precise, LG V30 will be coming with a Plastic OLED (P-OLED) display that features a plastic substrate instead of a glass substrate that can break easily. It may come with curved edges like the Galaxy S8 and S8+. The screen will be protected by Gorilla Glass 5. It will be supporting QHD+ resolution of 2,880 x 1,440 pixels and it will be carrying support for playback of HDR 10 content. It will support higher contrasts, better frame rates and DCI-P3 color gamut. Since P-OLED panel from LG is encapsulated, each of its panels consume less power which will in turn help in saving the battery.

A recent report reveals that the LG V30 will not be featuring a secondary ticker screen. Instead, rumors suggest that the upper portion of the OLED screen will feature a live floating bar that will display quick shortcuts and it may also show some alerts. The LG V30 is heavily to debut on Aug. 31 and is expected to go on sale in the next month.

Nokia Camera App Now on Google Play Store, Frequent Updates Coming

Nokia, presently controlled by HMD Global Oy, has just three smartphones to its credit since its resurgence but the company is already readying itself for expansion. In a move that could be seen as aimed at expansion, HMD Global has made the Camera app of its Nokia phones available on the Google Play Store. This is HMD’s own Camera UI and not the Lumia Camera UI whose patent was reportedly among those transferred by Microsoft to HMD Global recently.

Nokia 3

Making the app available for download on Google Play has little benefits to Nokia 3, 5 and Nokia 6 Android phone users since they already have it installed. Well, except that the app will likely get more frequent updates now and users will not need to wait for OTA updates but can update the Camera app directly from the Play Store. The app could also be of help to developers of camera enhancement apps who may wish to test their app using the app. It is unclear if it can function as a third party app on other phone models.nokia

It also comes ahead of the impending launch of the Nokia 8, expected to be the Nokia flagship model that we all have been waiting for since the resurgence of the Nokia brand under HMD Global. The Nokia 8 is expected with a 5.7-inch 2K display and will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor with 4GB / 6GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable internal storage. The device is expected with a dual rear camera setup made up of a 13MP main sensor and Zeiss optics. The device is also expected to pack a 3000mAh battery and will run Android 7.1 out of the box.

In addition to the Mate 10, Huawei is also said to be working on a Mate 10 Lite which would cost half the price of the Mate 10 at PLN1,999 (~$556) and as you’d guess, would have a slightly reduced size from the Mate 10 and it is rumoured to be 5.8 inches. The price tag looks way outrageous and cut off from reality but then, the Mate 10 is meant to rival the iPhone 8 which is expected to have a hefty price tag. But then, Huawei isn’t Apple and doesn’t even have any model which sells as high as $800 and even the Mate 9 is priced less than $800.  This is just a rumour and so, should be taken with a pinch of salt.

The new variant comes with a slightly higher price tag of 3,099 Yuan as against 2,899 Yuan for the other colour options with 128GB storage. The variant also has a mirror finish that is highly reflective. The soon-to-be-released variant brings a premium finish common with flagship models to a mid-range device. The Nova 2 and Nova 2 Plus were listed among the top selling Huawei models in the first half of the year. This new additional colour variant which is turning out to be a very popular option, considering how the Mi 6 and Sony Xperia XZ had a similar variant, could help continue the good sales.Huawei Nova 2 Plus Bright Silver

The Huawei Nova 2 Plus was released along with the Nova 2 about two months back and it features a metal body with a thin build which is just 6.9mm thick. The metal body of the device is coated in silver, thus giving it a mirror finish. The Nova 2 Plus comes with a 5.5-inch 1080p LTPS In-Cell display and is powered by an Octa-core Hisilicon Kirin 659 processor and a Mali-T830 MP2 GPU powers the graphics. The processor is backed by a 4GB RAM while the Bright Silver variant has 128GB storage.  Both the Nova 2 and Nova 2 Plus were initially available in five different colors namely, Rose Gold, Streamer Gold, Grass Green, Aurora Blue, Bright Black and Obsidian Black. The Bright Silver variant is the seventh variant of the Nova 2 Plus and that is a whole lot of options to chose from.

Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Roundup: Design, Full Specification Details, Launch Date

The Galaxy Note 8 is probably the biggest device set to lunch this month. In the last few days we have been getting a steady stream of images showing the flagship from all angles. To cap it up, we finally get to know the full specification details, thanks to Evan Blass (@Evleaks) of VentureBeat.

Galaxy Note 8 Design

The overall design of the Galaxy Note 8 is similar to that of the Galaxy S8/S8+. It will have the same infinity display only taller. Though the corners of the Note 8 aren’t as curved as that of the Galaxy S8.

The Note 8 will arrive in four colors namely Midnight Black, Orchid Grey Maple Gold and Deep Blue. However only Midnight Black and Maple Gold will be available at first. A fresh render leaked by Evan Blass shows the Maple Gold and Midnight Black variants together alongside their respectively colored S Pens.

The renders show that all the color variants will have the same black front panel and black colored rear camera housing. Since the fingerprint scanner and LED flash sit in the same housing as the cameras, they also get the black coating.

Button placement follows that of the Galaxy S8 too. The volume rocker and Bixby buttons are placed on the left and the power button on the right.

Galaxy Note 8 Specs

The Galaxy Note 8 will have a 6.3-inch Super AMOLED display, making it just a tiny bit larger than the Galaxy S8+. Just like the S8 and S8+, it will come with an Exynos 8895 and the Snapdragon 835 mobile platform depending on the market.

The Note 8 will have 6GB of RAM standard paired with 64GB of storage with the option for expansion via a microSD card slot. According to leaker @Ice Universe, the Chinese and Korean version will have quadruple the storage (256GB).

Samsung will double the rear camera on the Galaxy Note 8. Each one is a 12MP sensor but the primary wide-angle one has an aperture of f/1.7 with dual-pixel autofocus while the secondary telephoto lens has a f/2.4 aperture and 2x optical zoom. Both sensors have OIS.

The front facing camera is an 8MP sensor with autofocus and an f/1.7 aperture.

The Galaxy Note 8 will feature a 3000mAh battery. This is smaller than that of the Galaxy Note 7 (3500mAh) and even the Galaxy Note 7 FE (3200mAh). The phone will support wireless charging and be IP68 certified.

OPPO R11 With A Snapdragon 835 Processor Seen On Geekbench

The OPPO R11 and its bigger sibling, the OPPO R11 Plus are the first phones to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 660 mobile platform. The Snapdragon 660 is currently the king of the mid-range chips in the market right now, so we have no issues with OPPO using it for their flagship phones.

It however came as a surprise when we saw a Snapdragon 835 variant of the OPPO R11 on Geekbench. The Geekbench listing also reveals that this OPPO R11 has 6GB of RAM and runs Android 7.1.1.

The device scores 1953 points in the single-core test and 6329 points in the multi-core test. Compare these results to that of the Sony Xperia XZ1 powered by the same processor though with a smaller RAM (single-core:1909; multi-core:6459) and you can see they are similar.

The Honor Note 9 May Launch With 6GB RAM, Kirin 965 & A 4600mAh Battery

Huawei’ssub-brand, Honor, has a Note line too. Though it usually comes with a massive display, it doesn’t have a stylus like Samsung’s. The last version was the Honor Note 8 released in September 2016. That means we should expect the Honor Note 9 around the same time.

Honor Note 9

A leak from China says the Honor Note 9 should come with dual cameras like the other Honor flagships released this year. The cameras are said to be two 12MP sensors but the technology to be adopted is unknown.

The Honor Note 8 has a massive 6.6-inches Super AMOLED display which is bigger than that of the yet-to-be announced Samsung Galaxy Note 8. The Honor Note 9 may end up with a larger screen or retain the same size. However a leaked image shows it with no side bezels.

The leak adds that the device will be powered by an unannounced Kirin 965 processor. It will also have 6GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.
