Here’s The First Camera Samples From Lenovo’s Sub-brand ZUK Z1 Smartphone

Earlier this month, we reported that Lenovo had a new smartphone sub-brand called as ZUK which will primarily focus on developing software for its users. The company had said that it aims to release a new smartphone, the ZUK Z1 later this year, sometime around September. While at that time, it didn’t reveal any key specs of the device, recently, Lenovo’s Senior Vice President Chen Xudong released a few camera samples of the upcoming ZUK smartphone via his Weibo account.

You can check out all the samples from down below. The images look quite good, like the one at the time of sunset. Despite the low light surroundings, the phone managed to take quite focused and clear shots.

The other pictures are even better with natural colors and high level of detail. The image of the flower too came out quite well as we can see a lot of details in the colors too.

Unfortunately, the company has not yet revealed how powerful the sensor is on the camera. But after seeing these images, it looks like the camera on ZUK Z1 will be quite good.

Check out the samples from down below.

Meizu MX5 Metal Shell and Price Leaks

We have already heard from the company itself that Meizu will launch a new device on June 30th. The Chinese smartphone maker has released a few teasers, which include a “Full Metal Jacket” moniker. This clearly implies that the upcoming device, which will most likely be a MX5, will be made out of metal.

Screenshot 2015-06-21 15.20.10

This time around we have some fresh leaked photos, which show the device’s metal shell. It confirms the possibility that the Meizu MX5 will be made out of metal, which should give the premium look and feel as well as extra sturdiness.

Screenshot 2015-06-21 15.20.25

What is more, we can clearly see that there is a huge cutout for an oval shaped home button. This implies the fact that the MX5 will boast a fingerprint scanner, which has become a trend among Chinese smartphone manufacturers.

Screenshot 2015-06-21 15.20.39

Moreover, the rumours suggest that the Meizu MX5 will spot some decent specs. It starts will a 5.5-inch 1080p screen. Also, under the hood there will be an octa-core MT6795T chip, clocked at 2.3GHz along with 3GB of RAM. What is more, the storage capacity is not disclosed, but it is said that there will be a microSD card slot, which supports storage expansion up to 128GB.

Finally, the device is said to have a 20MP camera on the back (most likely a Sony sensor) and a 3150mAh battery (non-removable) will be keeping the lights on.

As far as the pricing goes, Meizu is ready to put some more pressure for competitors. The starting price of the Meizu MX5 will be 1799 Yuan (about $290) in China. We will have to wait for the official event to find out when the device will go on sale. Stay tuned to Gizmochina as we will be covering all the news regarding that.

Xiaomi Mi Band 2 Leaked With Touch Screen Display

Xiaomi recently revealed that it had sold over 6 million Xiaomi Mi Bands in the market. Now that the company has achieved a great milestone, it looks like a new Xiaomi band is one its way. The current Mi Band was released in July last year, so its about time we see a new wearable from the company. Earlier today, a new leak revealed the upcoming Xiaomi Mi Band 2 in picture.

xiaomi mi band 2

According to the picture leaked, there will be some major differences in the new band. It will feature a touchscreen display which means most of the information could be directly shown on the screen. This could also mean less reliance on the connected smartphone.

Given that the first generation model was focused on fitness, this one too is expected to feature sleep tracking, calorie counter, alarm clock and a lot other fitness centric features. However, now that the Mi Band 2 is rumored to come with touch screen display, don’t expect to get anywhere near the 30 day battery life.

The addition of a touch screen display will most likely drive up the price of the new generation band. However, remember that Xiaomi is yet to confirm the existence of such a new band, so its better to take this news with a pinch of salt.

Stay tuned for more details.

Update: I’m very sorry, we are mislead by the Weibo. This is fake news. The picture is from Zeaplus, but the band looks really a good product, better than Xiaomi Mi Band, it’s only $14.99, here is the more details:  http://www.zeaplus.com/zeaplus-band-feature

ZTE may join the party on June 30, is expected to release the upgraded Nubia Z9S

Remember the document which revealed that the OPPO Find 9 will support Cat. 9 LTE? It was a part of the marketing material from China Mobile, about its LTE-A carrier test in partnership with ZTE and Qualcomm.

zte nubia z9s 01

Now, it is said that ZTE will announce an upgraded version of the ZTE Nubia Z9 flagship called as the Nubia Z9S (S probably stands for speed). The phone is said to bring Cat. 9 LTE connectivity which means that it will support download speeds of up to 450 Mbps (theoretical). While in reality, its hard to reach such high speeds, in a leaked image we can see that the Nubia Z9S managed to reach about 250 Mbps download.

zte nubia z9s 02

The existing version of the Nubia Z9, which comes with Cat. 4 LTE support can support up to 150Mbps download only, which further shows that this is a special version of the device. The company is expected to release the Nubia Z9S later this month, on June 30. Interestingly, this is the same date when Huawei as well as Meizu will announce their flagship devices.

As a result, it looks like June 30 is going to be an extremely important date for all tech fans. As of now, we don’t know what else is upgraded in this new Nubia machine. The pictures reveal a similar bezelless design as the Z9, so we expect only a handful of changes in the Z9S model.

Unfortunately, ZTE is yet to official confirm such a news, so take we are not yet sure about the date. Anyways, stay tuned for more information in the coming days.

Daily Deal: High-End LeTV LeMe Bluetooth Headphones for $27.99

One of the things that we should be glad about is how technology is moving forward. I know, it’s just a bold sentence, but it it’s true. We all love when manufacturers invent (or improve?) something new and it makes our lives easier.

However, there is one thing that still irritates me and I believe that the technology still needs to improve. That thing is cables. Thus, manufacturers are constantly expanding their portfolio or upgrading their existing gadgets with wireless technology like bluetooth, NFC, wireless charging etc.

One of the things that many people still believe that belongs to the wired world of technology is headphones. However, the Bluetooth has evolved significantly over the years and now we should be happy to enjoy a wireless music with without a huge sacrifice at the sound quality.

Screenshot 2015-06-18 21.03.55

All right, the intro was definitely too long this time. I wanted to with you something what shapes up to be a great deal – Letv LeMe Bluetooth headphones, which costs under $30.

Honestly, I haven’t reviewed this piece of hardware yet (waiting for my order to arrive), but I believe this is a great bang for buck considering the quality of Letv products (please check out my video and written reviews of Letv Le 1 (One or S1 or X600).

Screenshot 2015-06-18 21.04.16

It turns out that this device has a lot to offer for the price. It has the Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity (up to 10 meters) and it works will all the devices that have Bluetooth (whether it’s Anroid, iOS, Windows etc.).

In addition to this, the headphones have all the controls you need. That includes volume up/down, skip track, play/pause buttons. Also, they are said to last you long (up to 30000 times) if you are crazy about adjusting the volume or changing tracks every few seconds.

What is more, the headphones have all kinds of shenanigans of sound sound quality and noise reduction. Considering that Letv is very serious about the video and sound quality (remember the Le Hi-Fi chips inside Letv smartphones), all these features should provide you a great listening experience.

700x386x2015-06-09_16_47_494_meitu_4.jpg.8QZ278P4ZSILATDpSC,3040=l

Moreover, the built-in 195mAh battery is said to provide you with 12 hours listening time and 26 days of stand-by time. These are specs only seen on high-end Bluetooth headphones that would costs you way over $100.

Finally, the headphones are made out of high quality materials like stainless steel, silicon and leather.

All in all, the Letv LeMe Bluetooth headphones shape up to be like a great deal. It offers a great sound quality, amazing battery and awesome built quality for just under $30 as a limited time offer.

New Leak Claims Honor 7 Will Be Priced At $599

We are all set for the launch of the Huawei Honor 7 flagship on June 30th. However, looks like the pricing of the device has already been leaked.

honor 7 price

According to a new leak, Huawei Honor 7 could be priced at $599 Yuan which is much higher than its previous generations. In fact, if Huawei indeed were to stick with this pricing, we would be disappointed for sure.

From the leaks we have seen till now, the Honor 7 flagship turns out to be a pretty good device. It is expected to come with a 5-inch full HD 1080p display along with Kirin 935 octa-core chip and 3GB/ 4GB RAM versions. There will be 13MP rear camera along with a 3280mAh capacity battery on board.

As you can see, the specs are pretty high-end. The design also looks beautiful with all all metal body in gold color. But if Huawei were to increase the price tag to $599, then fans are definitely going to be disappointed.

However, remember that this is just a leak and the actual price tag could be different at the time of launch. So lets wait for the official event later this month for the retail price of the device.

Meizu Has Released A New Teaser: “Born To Kill” But What Does It Mean?

If you have been following our site, we had reported a couple of days back that Meizu was planning to announce something big at the end of the month i.e. on June 30. However, the company did not reveal what it was going to launch at the event.

meizu-teaser

Earlier today, Meizu released a new teaser on Weibo with the tag line “Born to Kill”. Now this doesn’t directly reveal the identity of the handset, but it shows that the launch may be of a significant device. And we think its most likely going to be the Meizu MX5 flagship. So, earlier rumors about the Meizu M2 launching at the event could be false.

We can also see the number 630 etched on top of the helmet along with the words full metal jacket. Logically, this doesn’t make much sense, but if we had to find a link, it could be related to the material used on the handset. The 630 could refer to the grade of stainless steel material that may end up as the body of the Meizu MX5. But at this moment, we can’t be completely sure.

mx5 tenaa 02

As for the specs, TENAA reveals that the Meizu MX5 will feature an octa-core 2.3Ghz chipset with 3GB RAM, 20MP rear camera, 3MP front facing camera and a 3150mAh battery. The display will be slightly increased to 5.5-inches with the same full HD 1080p resolution.

So, it looks like the company will release the MX5 flagship at the event. Stay tuned for more details.

Snapdragon 810 v2.1: Check Out What’s Changed!

Yesterday, OnePlus officially announced that the company’s latest flagship, the OnePlus Two will be running Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 v2.1 (third generation) chipset. While, this wasn’t surprising since Qualcomm pretty much rules the market, the issues associated with the chipset hasn’t helped the company. But, it is said that the third generation chip .i.e. Snapdragon 810 v2.1 manages to solve a few problems on the SoC.

Anandtech managed to test both the second generation and the third generation chips, which showed what all changes were made in the new version to improve performance (unlike earlier versions which throttled speed) and reduce overheating.

Snapdragon-810-v2-Memory-Bandwidth 01

One of the important changes in the new version is the clock speed of the GPU. Qualcomm has now clocked Adreno 430 GPU at 630MHz which is 5 percent increase in speed as compared to the previous 600MHz. This will slightly increase the performance of the chip, which will help it compete with the powerful ARM Mali-T760 GPU on Samsung’s Exynos 7420.

The main memory bandwidth has improved by 33 percent and on an average around 38 percent across all memory segments. The latency in the L1 and L2 cache seems to be improved by 15 percent.

Snapdragon-808-throttling-710x533

Another important change is in the pattern of throttling. The new v2.1 version reduces throttling significantly on the Cortex A57 cluster. However, if the load is high, the chip tends to shift all threads off the A57 to maintain TDP limits.

It looks like Qualcomm did make some important changes in the Snapdragon 810 v2.1. However, we will have to wait and watch whether these changes are enough to improve its performance and also reduce the persistent problem of overheating.

Brand New IUNI N1 Is Revealed On TENAA

iuni

A brand new smartphone from domestic mobile phone manufacturer IUNI has recently been listed on the website of TENAA. The phone is dubbed the N1, and is expected to be priced under 1,000 Yuan. Looking at the images posted on the website, there’s certainly a flair as far as the design element is concerned, giving the phone a bit of a character. At first glance, it would look as if the device comes with two cameras each on its front and rear. The reality however, is that what looks like the extra cameras, are actually LED lights, which come ensconced in cavities with the exact same design as the cameras, resulting in the visual illusion.

iuni

While not all hardware specifications are clear about the upcoming smartphone from IUNI, the listing on TENAA has revealed the N1 comes with a 5-inch display, with a 1280 x 720 resolution. The device is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor of unknown make. However, it is being speculated that the chip might be Mediatek’s MT6735 SoC. The phone also comes with 2 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage. The rear camera on the device is expected to have a 13 megapixel sensor, while the front camera is expected to come with an 8 megapixel sensor. The phone is also said to come with a 2000 mAh battery, and will be running Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box.

While speculating about product pricing is always fraught with danger, taking into account the price of the IUINI U3 has now been reduced to 1399 Yuan, it probably wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to think the IUNI N1 will probably be significantly more affordable, and will probably come with a price-tag between 799 to 999 Yuan. As there’s no official confirmation of the device from IUNI just as yet, we’ve no idea when the N1 is expected to come to the market, but with the device already earning the regulator’s approval, we’d imagine the launch date won’t be too far away.

Xiaomi Mi4i Review – A Flagship or Not?

Xiaomi is probably the best known Chinese manufacturer and each smartphone the company releases sells out in minutes. Xiaomi says that the Mi4i model is their latest flagship smartphone. Does it live up to the flagship grade expectations? Is it really worth the “Sold out in a few minutes… again” moniker? Please check out both video and written reviews of the Xiaomi Mi4i.

ZTE S2010 Reaches TENAA With Octa-Core Chip & Android 5.1

While we are eagerly waiting for the upcoming ZTE flagship, the ZTE Star 3, it looks like the company has other mid-range devices in store for us too. Recently, a new ZTE model called as the ZTE S2010 hit TENAA featuring mid-range specs inside a beautiful metal body.

zte s2010 05

According to the listing, the ZTE S2010 comes with a 1.3Ghz octa-core chip (could be MT6753) along with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage which can be expandable up to 32GB via MicroSD. The phone will be quite slim measuring just 7.4mm and will be lightweight too weighing about 124 grams. This is quite impressive given that it looks like the phone will be made out of metal.

The display will be of 5-inches with 720p resolution. There will be an 8MP shooter at the back along with a 5MP front facing camera. One of the highlights of the device will be its software, as it runs on the latest Android 5.1 version.

Overall a decent mid-ranger. But we still have no idea about the phone’s pricing, but traditionally, ZTE offers its lower mid-range devices around 1599 Yuan. If that’s the case, the company will face stiff competition from cheaper alternatives like Meizu M1 Note and Lenovo K3 Note.

Meizu M2 Passes TENAA, features MT6735 & 2GB RAM

We have been hearing a lot about the successor of the Meizu M1 entry level handset. The company seems to be unveiling brand new Blue Charm devices every six months. Earlier this month, we saw Meizu release the Meizu M2 Note and today, we have come across a TENAA listing of the Meizu M2 hinting that the launch might be near.

m2 02

The listing reveals that Meizu M2 will feature a 5-inch 720p display with MT6735 quad-core 64-bit chipset. The highlight of this chip is its full network connectivity support. There will be 2GB RAM on board, which is another welcome move for an entry level device. As for the cameras, there will be a 13MP shooter at the back, along with a 5MP front facing one. The battery is also pretty decent, and is of 2700mAh capacity. Finally, the phone supports dual SIM dual standby with 4G LTE and will run on Android 5.0.1 Lollipop version right out of the box.

The overall design looks a lot like the M2 Note, just a bit smaller. You can even see the physical home button below the display as well as the power button on the right.

We still don’t know the pricing of the handset, but it should be somewhere around 599 Yuan, to compete directly with Xiaomi’s Redmi 2A. Meizu has an event later this month, on June 30. We could either see the new Meizu M2 or the new top-end flagship for 2015, Meizu MX5.

Unfortunately, it could be any of the two, so its best to wait and see what the company has in store for us at the event.

OnePlus Two Confirmed To Feature Snapdragon 810 v2.1 CPU

OnePlus has been giving us hints about its upcoming OnePlus Two flagship. Last week, the company slashed the prices of OnePlus One, most likely to make way for its new model. Now, the company has officially revealed the processor inside the new flagship, the Snapdragon 810.

oneplus two 01

While this doesn’t come as a surprise, it does bring forward a lot of questions, especially whether OnePlus managed to fix the heating issue associated with the chipset. To answer all your doubts, the company has written a detailed blog post which reveals that its engineers worked closely with Qualcomm to develop a cooler version of the chipset without compromising performance.

The OnePlus Two will use Snapdragon 810 v2.1 which is the same version that’s inside the Xiaomi Mi Note flagship. The post also adds that the company did consider other chipset options, but every time, it came back to Snapdragon 810 because of its advanced features.

“Features that the 810 supports include streaming 4K Ultra HD video, amazingly crisp and fast photos with one quick snap, immersive 3D gaming brought to you by the first-in-class Adreno 430 GPU, high-quality video streaming that uses less bandwidth, and exceptional battery life” were some of the features of 810 detailed in the post.

oneplus two 02

The company has also heavily optimized its OxygenOS to run smoothly on the OnePlus Two with Snapdragon 810. The OS was pretty fluid on the OnePlus One, so we expect the experience to be the same even on the new device. The company said that they have created a proprietary technology, which will handle a variety of tasks for the chipset inside the ‘two’.

OnePlus has assured that the phone won’t get warmer with 810 inside, further explaining that the phone comes with graphite and thermal gel for effective heat dissipation.

According to recent rumors, OnePlus Two is expected to debut sometime in July this year, so we don’t have to wait too long to more official details about the flagship.

OPPO Find 9 Coming With Snapdragon 810 Under The Hood?

Its about time we see a new OPPO flagship, but as of now, we haven’t heard much about the OPPO Find 9. However, earlier today, in the marketing documents of China Mobile, we came across a paragraph which mentioned OPPO’s latest flagship, the Find 9.

oppo-find-9-lte

The document quoted OPPO Find 9 among other smartphones saying it already supported Cat. 9 LTE networks. The same document revealed more details about the upcoming chipsets which will support the more advanced Cat. 10 LTE networks.

Now, in this market, Snapdragon 810 is the only known chipset to support Cat. 9 LTE networks, which means that the new OPPO device could come with this chip under the hood. Also, given the fact that the phone is mentioned here, it looks like the company is already past the testing phase on the carrier. So, we should see the device pretty soon.

oppo find 9

Unfortunately, OPPO has not revealed any details about its upcoming flagship. So, for official details, we may have to wait for a few weeks more.

5-inch Xiaomi Smartphone Hits TENAA: Could Be Redmi 2S!

A new Xiaomi smartphone has just hit TENAA earlier today. The listing reveals a lower mid-range handset with a 5-inch display. Given the smaller screens size, this couldn’t possibly be the rumored Redmi Note 2. As a result, it could be the next generation smartphone in the Redmi series, namely Xiaomi Redmi 2S.

redmi-2s

The listing reveals only a few details about the handset. First of all, the phone will feature a 5-inch screen most likely with 720p resolution. The dimensions of the device are also quite decent: 138.5 × 70 × 7.82mm. It will support TD-LTE / LTE FDD / TD-SCDMA / WCDMA / GSM networks as well as dual card dual standby. As for battery, there will be a 3030mAh capacity battery on board, which is pretty large for a 5-inch device.

redmi 2s

Its been only six months after the release of the Redmi 2, so it doesn’t make sense for the company to release a next generation Redmi 3 phone. Instead, it would be ideal for the company to add in the Redmi 2S, with slightly better specs in the later half of the year.

Remember that this is just a guess, and it could even turn out to be a different smartphone. So, we can’t confirm the name of the device as of now.

Huawei’s Kirin 950 Chipset Will Support Cat. 10 LTE, So Will Snapdragon 820

Huawei’s HiSilicon chip making division has come a long way in the past few years. From being a tiny chip manufacturer, the company now has big plans to compete with existing rivals such as Mediatek and Qualcomm. In this regard, the company seems to be taking big moves.

Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 supported Cat. 9 LTE networks which was much better than the Cat. 7 and 6 bands supported by other rival chipsets. Huawei’s Kirin 930 and 940 chipsets supported Cat. 6 and Cat. 7 band respectively, which meant it was slightly below Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 in terms of connectivity.

kirin 950 LTE Cat 10

However, according to a report from China Mobile, it looks like Huawei’s Hisilicon Kirin 950 chipset will support Cat. 10 LTE networks which will be much faster than Cat. 9. This will put Kirin chipsets at par with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon series as even the Snapdragon 820 chip is expected to support this high speed network. Other chipsets which support Cat. 10 include Intel’s XMM 7360 and Samsung’s Exynos 333 modem.

We don’t see a Mediatek chipset in the report which supports Cat. 10, but that doesn’t rule out the possibility of a Mediatek chip supporting this high speed network band in the future.

Meizu might release the MX5 flagship the same day as Huawei’s Honor 7

A few days back, Huawei confirmed that it would be releasing the Honor 7 flagship on June 30. Thanks to the numerous leaks, we already know a lot about the upcoming handset, and it looks like pretty powerful device.

mx5 03
Meizu MX5 01

However, it looks like June 30 won’t just be the launch day for Honor 7, as latest rumors suggests Meizu is preparing the launch of a powerful machine on the same day. Given that its almost time to see the next generation model of the Meizu MX4, we feel that this smartphone could be the MX5 flagship.

mx5 01
Meizu MX5 02

So, it looks like June 30 is going to be a pretty interesting day. According to the TENAA listing, the MX5 features an octa-core 2.3GHz chipset with 3GB RAM and a 5.5-inch full HD 1080p display. There will be a 20MP camera at the back along with a 3MP front facing shooter. The battery is expected to be around 3150mAh.

huawei-honor-7
Honor 7

As for the Honor 7, the phone is expected to come with an octa-core chipset with a 5-inch 1080p display, 13MP OIS camera and 3280mAh battery. There will be two different versions, the standard one sporting 3GB RAM and 16GB of storage while the top-end premium version coming with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage.

Interestingly, the leaks have shown that both the devices, Honor 7 and Meizu MX5 will come with a fingerprint sensor.

We expect to see a lot more information on both these devices before the companies officially launch them. So, stay tuned.
