iQOO, known for its high-performance smartphones, has just announced an upgrade for its latest devices. The company officially confirmed via Weibo that the iQOO 12 and iQOO Neo 9 series smartphones now support Wi-Fi 7 connectivity in China.

While the Chinese models will get this upgrade, there’s no word yet on whether global variants of these popular iQOO series will also gain Wi-Fi 7 support. We’ll have to await further announcements from iQOO to gain clarity on international availability.

Wi-Fi 7 delivers significantly faster speeds, reduced latency, and improved network capacity compared to older Wi-Fi standards. This translates to smoother online gaming, faster downloads, and more reliable connections in crowded environments.

iQOO 12 / Neo 9 Series Specifications

For those unfamiliar with the iQOO 12 and Neo 9 series, let’s recap their specifications.

The iQOO 12 devices boast the powerful Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, iQOO’s custom e-sports chip Q1, and the Adreno 750 GPU. They run Android 14-based OriginOS 4 for a streamlined user experience.

The iQOO 12 features a large 6.78-inch AMOLED display, while the 12 Pro offers a curved-edge screen. Both deliver high refresh rates and impressive resolution. Camera-wise, these phones sport versatile triple-camera setups with high-resolution main, ultrawide, and telephoto lenses.

iQOO Neo 9 series

The iQOO Neo 9 and Neo 9 Pro also deliver excellent displays, supporting HDR10+ and 144Hz refresh rates. iQOO enables 2160HZ PWM dimming on iQOO 12 and iQOO Neo 9

In early November, the iQOO 12 series debuted in China as the brand’s latest flagship smartphone duo. These handsets were later followed by the firm’s new flagship killer lineup, the iQOO Neo 9 series, in late December.

Both these product lineups offer a different set of features targeted at dissimilar audiences. However, they have one thing in common and it is their eye-friendly displays.

The panels used by these phones support high-frequency PWM dimming. But interestingly, the company has enabled this feature only now.

iQOO 12 and iQOO Neo 9

Earlier today, iQOO announced on Weibo that the iQOO 12 series and the iQOO Neo 9 series now support 2160Hz PWM dimming. The feature is live on the latest firmware for the handsets.

Once enabled from ‘Developer options’, users can have a flicker-free experience at 2-600 nits screen brightness levels.

Out of these four phones, only the vanilla iQOO 12 has made its way to global markets. We are not sure if this feature is currently available outside mainland China.

The iQOO 12 series flaunts a 6.78-inch centered punch-hole OLED display. The flat panel on the vanilla model offers a resolution of 2800 x 1260 pixels (1.5K) and 452 PPI. Whereas the pro variant’s screen is curved and comes with a higher 3200 x 1440 pixels as well as a sharper 517 PPI.

Both displays not only support up to a 144Hz refresh rate (LTPO) but also 10-bit color depth. They can also reach a maximum local brightness level of 3000 nits.

On the other hand, the iQOO Neo 9 series is also built around a 6.78-inch centered punch-hole OLED display. This 10-bit panel shares its specs with the one found on the iQOO 12.

Thus, it comes with a 1.5K resolution (2800 x 1260 pixels), 452 PPI, and a 144Hz refresh rate (LTPO).

The base iQOO Neo 9 starts at CNY 2,299 (~$321) for the 12GB + 256GB configuration. Users seeking additional storage or RAM can choose from configurations ranging up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage, with the top-tier option priced at CNY 3,199 (~$447).

The iQOO Neo 9 Pro carries a starting price of CNY 2,999 (~$419) for the 12GB + 256GB variant. Power users can opt for the 12GB + 512GB model at CNY 3,299 (~$461), or the higher-end 16GB RAM configurations with 512GB or 1TB storage, priced at CNY 3,599 (~$503) and CNY 3,999 (~$559) respectively. iQOO held an event in China today where it announced new products. These include smartphones, TWS earphone, and a smartwatch. The latest phones from the Vivo sub-brand are the iQOO Neo 9 and Neo 9 Pro. These arrive as the successors to the last year’s iQOO Neo 8 series. Both the newest devices pack premium specifications. They are also almost similar to each other. Read on to know more about them below.

iQOO Neo 9 series

The iQOO Neo 9 and Neo 9 Pro come with an OLED display bearing a 1.5K resolution and measuring 6.78 inches. They offer a 144Hz refresh rate, and HDR10+ support, and the screen is integrated with a fingerprint scanner. There is also iQOO Q1 dedicated chip for enhanced viewing and gaming experience. Design-wise, the iQOO Neo 9 duo has a flat frame and two camera rings on the back panel.

The iQOO Neo 9 Series is all set to be unveiled on December 27. Ahead of its official launch, iQOO revealed its partnership with China’s NBA. Even the upcoming iQOO Neo 9 Series is called “NBA China’s Official Smartphone.” Especially, the red-white color variant of the iQOO Neo 9 Series seems to well represent NBA’s color and brand identity. A specific teaser with a basketball in red-white carrying the tagline “Neo Time to Play” is posted on Weibo.

Apart from the red-white color variant, the iQOO Neo 9 Series is coming in BlueFlighting Black and Nautical Blue, colors. The company is consistently teasing the features of the upcoming smartphone via its official handle. In the latest such teaser, the iQOO revealed the presence of a dual-rear camera consisting of a 50MP Sony IMX920 primary sensor with OIS and another 50MP JN1 ultra-wide sensor. Along with the iQOO Neo 9 series, the smartphone will also launch the new iQOO Watch and iQOO TWS 1e wearables. The watch will be based on Vivo’s BlueOS. Samsung Galaxy A15 5G and Galaxy A25 5G

Samsung has confirmed to launch Galaxy A25 5G and Galaxy A15 5G in India on December 26 (Tuesday). The event will begin at 12:30 PM IST.

Since these handsets are already official in some markets, we know everything about them. For starters, they feature a slightly tweaked design with a raised platform for power and volume keys called ‘Key Island’.

The A15 and A25 are powered by MediaTek Diemsnity 6100 Plus and Exynos 1280 chips, respectively. Both sport a 50MP main camera and a 2MP macro snapper. But the A25 has OIS as well as an 8MP ultrawide unit compared to a 5MP ultrawide camera on the A15.

Huawei Nova 12 Series

The Huawei Nova 12 series is set to launch in China on December 26 (Tuesday). As of now, the brand has only only revealed the design and colors of these phones

Rumors are strife that there will be four models. These products will be called Huawei Nova 12, Huawei Nova 12 Pro, Huawei Nova 12 Ultra, and Huawei Nova 12 Lite (aka Vitality Edition).

The first three models are said to be powered by an underclocked HiSilicon Kirin 9000s chip. Thhere’s a chance of vanilla Nova 12 housing a new unannounced Kirin 830 SoC. Whereas, the live version is rumored to feature a Snapdragon 778G chipset.

Lastly, the ultra variant is expected to sport an OmniVision OV50H primary camera with variable aperture and support satellite communication.

iQOO Neo 9 Series

The iQOO Neo 9 series is scheduled to launch in China on December 27 (Wednesday). Its press conference will start at 7 PM local time (GMT+8).

According to leaks and teasers, there will be two devices, namely iQOO Neo 9 and iQOO Neo 9 Pro. They will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 and MediaTek Dimensity 9300 chipsets, respectively.
