Smartwatches are the new fad these days and there are plenty of cheap options available in the market right now. Although this means that there are many options for potential buyers, you will often end up confused and doubtful about most of the cheap watches. To be honest, there is always the question of whether they work as the company claims or will it die in a couple of days. That’s where we come into the picture, bringing you the review of all the latest Chinese gadgets in the market including smartwatches.

Buying a new smartwatch can be tricky, if you don’t know which brands to look out for. Today, I have got my hands on the popular smartwatch brand from China, ‘No.1’ who is slowly building its reputation in this market. In case you remember, the company first specialized in rugged phones, later expanding their portfolio to smartwatches.

I would like to thank GEARBEST for sending in this unit for review. Check out the No.1 D5+ on their official website, it’s up for sale at $120.

So, today I have the No.1 D5+, which is a classic looking watch, having a very similar design as your regular watch. For me, this is great as the watch blends in well with what you wear, coming with a nice set of features which make it smart. While the No.1 D5+ is costlier than most of the local Chinese smartwatches in the market, from the time I have been using it, it actually makes sense paying a little premium for this watch.

So, enough with the long introduction and let’s move on to things that really matter.

DESIGN

The first thing you notice about the D5+ is it’s classic watch design. In fact, this watch kind of remind me the Huawei Watch, which is said to be one of the best-looking watches in the market right now. Plus, the built quality of the watch is top notch, which adds to its premium looks. So, there’s no doubt that the D5+ is a good looking smartwatch.

You have just one button on the body — the power button, located on the right, near the center. Personally, I would have liked it to be more towards the top for better ergonomics, but you will get used to the button placement very soon. The body is entirely made out of metal, and I have got my hands on the silver version, which looks great. I like that the bezels around the display has a slightly different texture as compared to the rest of the body, which is smoother.

The back is simple and features the heart rate sensor, speakers, and the charging pins. Remove the four screws and the back plate comes off revealing the SIM card slot. Everything is pretty well built and in the design, you will find no complaints. Even the sheepskin leather strap is comfortable and goes well with the overall design.

DISPLAY

The 1.3-inch 360 x 360 display is great on the No.1 D5+. Personally, I have seen better displays on smartwatches, but this one is not too bad either. Sunlight visibility might be a tad low, but other than that the colors come out well. I feel the blacks don’t come out dark enough but if you are keeping any other shade, like silver or even white, you will be able to see what’s on the screen even under bright sunlight.

The touch response is great and thanks to the powerful internals, swiping left or right on the watch is smooth. You can adjust the brightness according to your need. There are two ways you can do this — long press the power button and use one of the 3 preset brightness levels or set it any percentage you like directly from the settings menu.

SPECS

The major highlight of the D5+ is its specs. The watch comes with the internals of an entry level smartphone (which is great) and features MT6580 quad-core chip with 1GB of RAM (yes 1GB!) and 8GB of internal storage. It’s a mini smartphone featuring Android 5.1 Lollipop OS, SIM card slot, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, heart rate sensor and even a pedometer. Note that there’s no camera on the watch, but I personally feel it’s better not to have a crappy camera onboard just for the sake of it.

The watch is IP65 certified (not IP67), so it can handle a few splashes but don’t go around experimenting with water, as there’s a chance that your smartwatch could be damaged. It’s water resistant, so rains won’t be a big issue for the watch. But stay away from the pool!

INTERFACE

If you have used an Android-powered smartwatch before, then the No.1 D5+’s interface will look familiar. Most of the features can be accessed by swiping to the right or left. Going right from the watch face reveals the music player, health app and the weather app. Going to the left from the watch dial brings you to the notifications panel. Swipe from the bottom of the watch face and you get a quick settings panel giving you the option to turn on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. To access the app drawer, just tap once on the watch face.

The overall interface is pretty straightforward. I will give a detailed overview of the interface in the video review coming up soon.

FITNESS TRACKING

Fitness tracking has turned out to be an important feature in smartwatches, tracking our step and calorie count, which ideally helps us to remain fit and focused. Some watches claim to be great fitness trackers but fail when it comes to real life performance.

The No.1 D5 + is not one of those watches. Both the pedometer and the heart rate sensor work very well. I was happy with the pedometer tracking my step count, as on most days it was quick accurate. In fact, I tried comparing the step count on the Mi Band 2 and the No.1 D5 + simultaneously and the results were quite close. So, I am happy with its pedometer tracking.

As for the heart rate monitor, it works every time. It might take a few seconds to get your heart rate and sometimes, the rate fluctuates, but other than that, the heart rate monitor seems to be quite accurate. I have tried checking my heart rate while running on the treadmill and it showed me a rate of around 130-140, which is close to the figure that was shown on my machine. My Mi Band 2 also revealed a similar heart rate, so it seems to be the real deal. So, once again, I will say that the heart rate monitor on the D5+ is pretty decent.

Sometimes the rate fluctuates quickly within seconds, which seems to be the drawback of the sensor. But the fluctuation is not too much, like 2-7 beats at max.

CALLS

Once you insert the SIM card, the No.1 D5+ will transform into a smartphone. You can make and receive calls on the watch just like a regular smartphone and the entire process is smooth and hassle-free. The clarity of the speaker as well as the microphone is decent for making calls on a regular basis. Even the keypad is better than some of the ones that I have seen on a watch, so you won’t make too many mistakes dialing a number. The inbuilt onscreen keyboard is well spaced which helps in quick typing.

The placement of the speaker is not really ideal since it’s on the back plate and most of the time your hand will cover it. But if you are planning to use it in a quiet environment, it is loud enough for basic needs. You can even hear a couple of songs on its speaker but don’t expect it to be too loud.

COMPANION APP

The companion app is just basic and is literally called the “Watch Helper”. It gives you some basic options for notifications along with additional features such as sending files to the watch and “Find My Watch”.

There’s an app called as the Watch Helper on the watch’s app list as well and in there you will find a QR code which directs you to link to download the companion app for your smartphone. Note that you will have to enable “Install Apps from other sources” to install this app.

There are a few seconds of delay in getting the notifications, but it’s not really a deal breaker.

GPS

The GPS works great on the watch. It was quick to track my location and I could even turn on navigation with real-time traffic. There were hardly any lags encountered during the process which was definitely a good sign. The small 1.3-inch display is not the ideal platform for GPS navigation, but it’s good to see that if you ever wanted to play around with Maps and Navigation, it’s possible on the D5+.

BATTERY

If you are looking for a watch that will easily last an entire day, then the 450mAh battery inside the No.1 D5+ will do the job just fine. In fact, some days where I didn’t use the watch much on the first day, the watch managed to last the entire second day too! But if you are going to play around with the watch like browsing the web, GPS or even heart rate sensor, the battery will drain a bit faster than usual. Still, in my personal usage, I could always get a day with the watch, which I feel is great. Note that the Wi-fi disconnects automatically when the screen is turned off to save the battery. But it turns on automatically in between and also every time you light up the screen.

The provided charging dock is of good quality and is magnetic. So, attaching the dock will be an easy process and it will instantly stick to the metal back plate. You can then use a regular Android charger to fill up the juice. It takes more than an hour to fill up the battery to 100% if your battery is below 20%.

CONCLUSION

Overall, I must say that I am quite happy with the No.1 D5+. The watch ticks all the basic stuff that I would want on a smartwatch to work, which is great, making me a happy customer.

What I am surprised with the D5+ is the quality of workmanship that you get for under $130. I have been using it almost daily for the past two weeks and till now, neither the screen nor the metal body has shown any signs of wear or scratches.

If I had to point out areas where the D5+ could improve, it would probably be the display. If the display was a bit brighter, then it would have made this a killer watch.

So, is this the best smartwatch in the market today? Not really, but at this price, it’s definitely one of the best.

Today we have lots of phones that look nice and they sport premium materials but  usually if you drop them, they suffer from severe damage. No.1 – a Chinese manufacturer – has made quite a few rugged phones and we are looking at one of them today. Meet the X6800.

The No. 1 X6800 comes in a box, which is full of accessories that include USB brick, two micro USB cables, which have a longer than usual plug meaning that regular USB cables will not work with this phone. This is a huge disadvantage in my opinion. Also, we have a screen protector, some documentation and lastly there is a multifunctional some kind of survival kit…

No. 1 X6800 Review: DESIGN and DISPLAY

First of all, the phone is very huge, thick and heavy due to its ruggedised IP68 rating properties and 5.5” display. Speaking of which, it is far from the best panels we’ve seen. It is not bright enough and the sunlight visibility is just terrible. Also, the colours are not very accurate and the sharpness could be better.

On the top we have an interpolated 5MP camera, earpiece and the notification LED. On the bottom there are 3 non-backlit capacitive buttons.

The back (the same as the whole device) is made of rubberised plastic. O the top we have an interpolated 13MP shooter with the LED flash and on the bottom there is a loudspeaker.

In order to remove the backplate, you have to unscrew 6 screws, which can take at least a few minutes. A funny thing is that the company did not include the screw driver and the included multifunctional tool is not comfortable to use for this purpose.

Under the hood there is a removable 6000mAh battery and two SIM card slots. I found it very complicated to remove the SIM card with my fingers. Also, the phone has a built-in 800Mah battery as a backup in case the main one dies.

On the left we have a power key and on the right there is a volume rocker, which are very hard to press and inconvenient to use. This is probably the worst buttons implementation I’ve seen in a while.

On the top we have a headset jack and on the bottom we have a charging port and they are both covered by the flaps as the phone is water and dust resistant. However, the charging port’s flap is really hard to open up and I always end up using a screw driver.

Overall, the phone is very huge and it literally feels like a brick. It is very inconvenient to carry in the pocket and hard to open flaps don’t make life easier either.

No. 1 X6800 Review: UI

The No. 1 X6800 runs on outdated Android 4.4 Kitkat version. It is a pretty much stock Android experience. It is running smoothly but I encountered with occasional stutter and lag especially after pressing a home button.

The only gesture control is a double tap to wake, which is really essential given a large footprint of the phone and the fact that the power button is the hardest to press I’ve seen.

However, double tap to wake feature doesn’t work all the time and if it works, it is very slow.

Overall, the UI implementation is not the best but not the worst either.

While it may be the software recognition issue due to the unusual dual battery nature of this phone.

No. 1 X6800 is a super rugged phone with the IP68 rating with waterproof, dustproof and shockproof properties. It is clearly a niche product and it is not for everyone.

The phone is very big and thick and it is a burden to carry it in the pocket.

The idea behind the No. 1 X6800 is that it can be used in extreme situations and it may be great for some users.

The display quality is far from the best and the direct sunlight visibility is a little poor.

All in all, the No.1 made a big rugged phone that it has a big battery.

Just a few weeks after Samsung announced its Galaxy S6 flagship with a beautiful revamped design, No.1 announced a clone of their own, called as the No.1 S6i. Now, almost 5 months after the announcement, the company is back with an upgrade, the No.1 S6i 4G. As the name suggests, the highlight of this phone with be LTE connectivity in a beautiful design.

Most of the specifications remain the same, except for its slightly larger display. The No.1 S6i 4G comes with a 5.1-inch display instead of 5-inch on its predecessor. The resolution remains the same as before, i.e. 1280 x 720p. Under the hood, there’s the 64-bit MT6735 quad-core chip clocked at 1.3GHz. Thats enough for your everyday needs. There’s 1GB of RAM on board and 16GB of storage which unfortunately is not upgradable.
Given that its LTE connectivity is the biggest upgrade, here’s the supported networks.

The company claims that this is the first circular smartwatch in the market with SIM card slot.

Another highlight is its nano-glass screen on top. This helps to keep the display as good as new, thanks to its scratch proof design. This is a very essential feature in a watch, since they are susceptible to scratches in your everyday use. So, its good to see the scratch proof glass on a low cost smartwatch.

You can wake up the watch, just by flipping your arm. Its as easy as that. Other features are pretty much standard like pedometer to track your steps, sedentary reminder, sleep monitor, remote control camera self timer, and remote music playback. Plus, you have a companion apps which lets you sync all the data.

One interesting feature that you don’t usually get on smartwatches is UV Detection. Its a unique feature, that helps you detect the UV radiation levels in the air. So, in case you worry a lot about the harmful UV rays, the watch can come in handy.

We haven’t yet reviewed the No.1 Watch S3, however, from the specs and the video shown below, it looks quite good. It is said that the watch will retail for somewhere around $60, which is a great price considering the features that you get. You have at least two colors for the case, black and gold.

No.1 claims that the new No.1 Watch is the first circular watch with a SIM card slot. This means, now you can make calls directly from the smartwatch. However, for many other functions, you will still have to rely on the companion smartphone.

The watch is made from a scratch resistant nano glass screen with a stainless steel case. You can connect to the companion smartphone with Fundo app, which also lets you record your health data, app notifications etc.

Overall, the No.1 Watch looks like a decent offering with a lot of features. We still have no idea about its pricing or availability, but will keep you updated about the same in the coming days.

A few days back, we had shown off some pictures of the No.1 M2 smartphone. It was the third rugged device from the smartphone maker No.1 within the past three months and is targeted at those users who are looking for a compact phone that can withstand any harsh environment. At that time, we didn’t have much details about the device, but now, the company has released the tech specs as well as pricing of the M2.

The No.1 M2 features a 64-bit quad-core processor clocked at 1.3Ghz. While we don’t know the processor make, it could be from Mediatek, most likely the MT6732 64-bit SoC. The phone come with 1GB RAM on board and 8GB of internal storage. Given that this is a rugged device, it features a 4.5-inch display with Corning’s Gorilla Glass protection. We recently reviewed the UWatch U8 Pro smartwatch which is one of the cheapest smartwatches currently available in the market. However, if you are looking for something more fancy, you might want to take a look at the all new No.1 G2.

No.1 has a lot of smartphones under its belt, most of which are clones of famous flagships. But given the recent surge in the demand for smartwatches, this Chinese manufacturer decided to try out its luck in the smartwatch category. Like its recent smartphone releases, this one too is a clone of a famous flagship smartwatch, the Samsung Gear watch. So, you get the same looks and design as the Gear smartwatch, which on the other hand makes it look a lot more posh and premium than other offerings in this range.

We have a lot to say about this new smartwatch, so, without wasting any more of your time, lets take a look at the No.1 G2 smartwatch review.

No.1 G2 UNBOXING

Even though you can purchase the No.1 G2 for less than $100, the overall package looked quite premium and well built. The smartwatch came in a white box with all the features listed on top of the box with colorful icons. As you can see in the pictures below, the box looked quite sturdy. So unlike many other Chinese companies, its good to see that the company has taken special care of the package.

The watch itself was placed in a white pillow like cushion to prevent any scratches while transportation. Given that its a smartwatch, you don’t get many things inside the box. Inside it, we got the 350 mAh battery which came separate from the watch. It had some charge when we installed and tried to power on the device but you’ll have to charge it for a few hours before you go ahead and test it.  There’s also a microUSB cable inside for charging and transferring data to and from the device.

DESIGN

Given that No.1 has taken inspiration from the Galaxy Gear smartwatch for this particular device, you know exactly how it looks and feels. Because, despite its low price tag the company has made sure that the watch is made from quality materials. The construction is sturdy and solid, thereby matching its premium looks.

As you can see in the pictures, the face is made out of metal, while the rubber bands are made of good quality rubber. And if you ever feel that you need to change these bands, you can do that too with ease. The highlight of the G2’s built is the onboard sapphire glass. Yes, the same tough Sapphire glass display that is reportedly better than the current Gorilla Glass generations.

And for those longing for a different look, the G2 is available in three different colors namely silver, gold and grey. All of them looks good but we have a feeling many would go for the gold finish.

HARDWARE

Here are some key specifications about the device.

The No.1 G2 smartwatch is powered by a MT2502A processor with 128M + 32M memory configuration. It has a 1.54-inch TFT screen with a resolution of 240 x 240. While this isn’t the biggest smartwatch displays that we have seen recently, it is still big enough to allow easy touch inputs and on screen notifications. Like mentioned above, the front is protected by Sapphire Glass, so you don’t have to worry about scratches on the display.

The overall dimensions of the device comes out to 36.9 x 58.4 x 10 mm which is quite decent for a smartwatch. There is a 350 mAh battery inside, which is once again standard when you compare with other competitors like LG G Watch or Moto 360. You can charge it via the provided MicroUSB port on the watch.

There is an inbuilt speaker, microphone, antenna and a vibration motor to support the various functions on the device. No.1 has also incorporated a number of sensors like Heart Rate monitor and pedometer which sets it apart from other cheap offerings in the market. However, they don’t usually work that great, but more on that later. The watch is IP67 compliant which means its water proof. So, dipping it in water for a few minutes or even wearing it in rain won’t any harm to the watch.

PERFORMANCE

Usually, setting up a Bluetooth enabled device is pretty tiresome. Either the phone doesn’t recognize the new device or the phone just doesn’t connect at all. But with the No.1 G2 smartwatch, things were pretty smooth. The company has provided a QR code which when you scan it on your phone, will take you to the Mediatek Smart Device app. After downloading and installing the app, you can access various features directly from this app. For example, you can install apps on your smartwatch from this companion app. To load them, you’ll see an install button inside, which will instantly download and install them on to your smartwatch. Pretty neat right? Further, you can install new watch faces, check and install software and much more from this companion app.

Once, you are connected, you get access to a number of nifty features on the watch. The highlight is probably its ability to take phone calls. The integrated microphone and the speaker does well in maintaining the call quality. So, even if the phone is somewhere else, you can take calls and talk to the person on the other end. However, remember that the watch does not feature a SIM card slot and a Bluetooth connection to a cellular active smartphone is necessary to make and receive calls.

Another important feature of the device is its inbuilt 2MP camera. The sensor managed to surprise us all in terms of clarity and color reproduction, but still it can never replace your traditional camera or even a smartphone camera. So, its just good enough for a few shots in day light every once in a while. But more on that later.

The overall UI is good and responsive, however its not completely based on Android. The inbuilt heart rate monitor gives mixed results. Sometimes, the sensor works pretty well and the results are accurate, but sometimes, it may not function properly so you cannot rely totally on the phone’s heart rate monitor. The pedometer worked fine, so no problems there. It calculated the calories burnt as well as displayed the workout information pretty accurately. Moreover, it can count the number of steps taken as well as your speed.

The No.1 G2 can display text messages from your phone to its screen and you can then choose from a number of templates for reply. Even whatsapp messages are supported but you may face some problems with the app’s graphics. But overall, you can use the smartwatch for your basic networking needs too.

As for music, you can’t download anything on the watch. But it has a dedicated music player which can stream music directly from your smartphone to your smartwatch. You can then listen to music on the built-in speakers but if you are a headphones fan, you’ll be better off playing music on your smartphone itself, as the watch doesn’t feature a headphone jack.

There are a lot of other special functions as well, for example, there’s a remote camera app which makes your smartwatch act as a remote viewfinder for your phone’s camera. So, you can click pictures remotely from this watch. Moreover, if you go beyond a certain distance, around 10 meters, the watch will automatically start beeping alerting you that your connected smartphone is more than 10 meters away. A great feature especially if you are the kind of person who tends to forget smartphones at different places.There’s a voice recorder app too which records voice through its inbuilt microphone.

Like most other smartwatches out there, you can even track your sleeping patterns which will help you analyze ways in which you can increase the quality of your sleep time. There’s an infrared port as well which can control a number of appliances at your home.

On average, you get about a day’s usage on the device with a Bluetooth connection. This includes regular notifications and other usage throughout the day. And when you are not connected to a phone via Bluetooth, this increases up to two to three days. So, the battery life is at par with other smartwatches that we have seen lately.

The No.1 G2 features a special power saving function as well which turns the display into grey scale when there is limited charge on the device. Moreover, with the provided MicroUSB charging port, you can charge the device using the same charger as your smartphone.

CAMERA

Readers are always interested in the camera quality of any device and even though this is a smartwatch, we feel there are people who will be curious about its low res 2MP camera. Like we mentioned above, this 2MP camera sensor managed to impress us, especially in day light photos.

It may not be as good or clear as regular smartphone cameras, but still its good enough for clicking casual shots or even spy shots of your friends and family. The color reproduction is pretty good as well exposure. You get some noise in the images, but given the low res sensor, you can’t expect much.

VERDICT

As you can see, the No.1 G2 turns out to be a great smartwatch. In fact at this price, we can’t really find any other smartwatch which looks as premium and well built as the No.1 G2 and comes with such useful features as well. The sleep tracker, heart rate sensor, infrared port, camera as well as the calling function makes this particular device a true smartwatch worthy of appreciation.

Even the specifications are mid-range making it different than other rugged phones which usually feature disappointing specs. On the front, there is a 5-inch display with HD resolution which has become a standard among mid-range phones these days. Inside, the phone houses a quad-core 1.3GHz MT6582 processor with 1GB RAM. At the rear is the 13MP camera sensor with LED flash while up front lies the 3MP shooter. To power all these specs, you have a very large 5,800 mAh battery inside, which the company claims provides standby times of over 50 days which is a pretty impressive claim for any smartphone. No.1 is a company known for its clones and we have seen as well as reviewed several of those clones in the past few months. Today, we take a look at the new No.1 Note 4. As the name suggests, its the clone of the recently announced Samsung Galaxy Note 4 and features the same design as the Samsung flagship. However, like all other clones in the market, apart from the design, most of the hardware and software features from the original model do not make it to the clone. But then these phones are available to purchase online for dirt cheap, which makes them attractive to customers looking for a cheap knock off. No.1 Note 4 features the same 5.7-inch display as the Galaxy Note 4 and comes with a stylus too, unlike other devices in its price range.

UNBOXING

The No.1 Note 4 comes in the same white colored box as every other No.1 device that we have seen recently. Once you open the box, you’ll find essential items like the charging adapter, USB cable, user manual in English and the phone itself. There are no headphones or rear case for the phone inside the box.

DESIGN

Like the name suggests, the No.1 Note 4 takes inspiration from the Galaxy Note 4. So, the device is huge in size and measures 153.5×78.6×8.5mm, thanks to the monster 5.7-inch screen up front. This is exactly the same size as the original Note 4 which has the same measurements. To be honest is an impressive feat considering this is just a knock off and retails for a very cheap price tag.

Moving on, the front display measures 5.7-inches. There is a camera as well as a few sensors on top of the display, while at the bottom you have the traditional Samsung home  button along with other capacitive buttons. The back features a leather like finish. There is a 13MP rear camera on top with LED flash just below it. Around the middle of the rear panel is the No.1 logo and around the bottom, you have two small openings for the speaker grill.

On the top left side lies the volume rocker buttons and on the right is the power button. There is a 3.5mm headphone jack on top + infrared port and a MicroUSB slot with dual microphones at the bottom. Like in the original Note 4, this clone also features the famous S pen which is neatly tucked into its opening at the bottom. The S Pen gets out and gets in pretty smoothly, so it looks like the opening is perfectly built to place it inside the phone.

The phone does have a removable back cover. Once you open it up, you’ll see a thin but long battery along with ports for a SIM card slot and a MicroSD card slot. Let me remind you, this phone supports just one SIM card unlike most other Chinese smartphones which support dual SIM cards. This is not a big issue for me since I just use one SIM card always, but for you this may be a deal breaker.

DISPLAY

The No.1 Note 4 comes with a 5.7-inch display with a resolution of just 1280 x 720 pixels. On the other hand the Samsung device came with 2K resolution on the same size. However, for everyday use, the display doesn’t look too bad. The overall looks of the UI is similar to the Samsung TouchWiz on Note 4 which gives us a feel of the original flagship, even though this is just a cheap knock off.

The first time you’ll boot up the device, you’ll see a lot of bright blue colors everywhere, which looks quite good on the large 5.7-inch display. Like we said earlier, the Touch Wiz like UI makes you feel that you are using a Samsung device. The display produces colors quite well and was bright enough to be used outdoors. So, even though it comes with a low resolution for such a large screen, you shouldn’t worry too much. You can easily fulfill your entertainment needs on the device like watching movies or playing games on its large screen display.

HARDWARE & PERFORMANCE

Despite its size and design, the No.1 4 is not a fast performing device. But it’s good enough for your basic every day usage. The phone comes with a Mediatek MT6582 quad-core processor with Mali-400MP GPU, 1GB RAM and 8GB internal storage. This isn’t the fastest processor out there in the market and you’ll know that once you see the AnTuTu benchmark results.

In the benchmark test, the device got a score of 18,999. However, there were some times that the scores dipped to around 18,000. So, on an average, you can expect the scores to range from 16,500 to 18,000. As you can see, this isn’t a very impressive score as we have seen devices, which score above 20,000 in the AnTuTu test.

But in the real world usage, the phone did not lag much and the overall UI loaded pretty quickly. Opening up apps was easy and unless it was a very heavy graphic intensive app or a game, it worked perfectly with very little visible lags. Multi-tasking can be an issue sometimes and the limited 1GB onboard doesn’t really help the cause as well. However, if you limit the open apps on the phone, the phone responds and works quite well.

We never experienced any lag while browsing through the gallery or while watching videos on the device. Even scrolling through the video was responsive. As for gaming, most games worked perfectly fine on the device. The quad-core MT6582 processor does well in this regard and the games had no visible lag. Everything played smoothly and for most games, you won’t have any trouble running it on the No.1 Note 4.

No.1 Note 4 tech specs

Coming to the provided S Pen, surprisingly, it works very well. As soon as you remove the pen from its holder inside the phone, the Air Command panel pops up giving you a lot of options to play around on the device. The S Pen could select apps on the screen without any trouble. We tried out the draw app on the phone and it was working perfectly. To be honest, we were impressed! With the S Pen in our hands, it really felt like we were using a premium device.

Another highlight of the device is its heart rate sensor. We still don’t know how exactly it manages to measure our heart beat, but still the feature somehow works fine. Of course, it’s not very accurate, but then we didn’t expect it to be, since most Chinese phones with a heart rate sensor didn’t work very well. But still, from our testing, the sensor worked just fine and is a useful addition to the phone.

The in-built speaker is loud but not very clear. Moreover, if you keep the phone with the display on the front, you’ll hear muffled noises since the speaker grill is located at the back.

So, overall the No.1 Note 4 turned out to be a pretty good device. And if you are looking for a decent performing device, add this to your list.

CAMERA

Camera isn’t the greatest of strengths of the No.1 Note 4 smartphone. However, for every usage, its 13MP rear camera snaps pictures pretty well. The company has provided a lot of modes inside the camera UI like the Beauty Face, Rich Tone, Auto, Panaroma, Surround shot, Auto Scene etc. You can change settings like exposure, GPS, Color balance etc directly from the UI. However, other than these, the UI is pretty standard.

Coming to the camera performance, the images clicked turned out to be good when there was lot of light. Focusing does take a second or two but works well. The images captured surprisingly have a lot of detail and the colors are also accurate. The video captured from the rear camera too was good.

However, low light performance wasn’t really good, which isn’t surprising given that most Chinese mid-range smartphones struggle to capture pictures in low light conditions. The night photos lack details and there is a lot of noise which spoils the captured image. So, like always we would suggest taking pictures in broad day light or at least in places where there is lot of light for the best performance from its 13MP rear shooter.

BATTERY

Battery life shouldn’t be a big concern on the phone since it features a 2800 mAh capacity battery onboard. The battery life is just average, but its enough to last throughout the day with moderate usage. We have seen 5.5-inch phones from Chinese manufacturers with batteries as small as 2,000 mAh, hence the battery on this phone feels quite decent.

CONNECTIVITY & SOFTWARE 

Along with the standard connectivity features like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, MicroUSB, FM Radio and GPS/ AGPS, you also get additional sensors like heart rate monitor and infrared sensor. Both of them worked fine as far as we tested. As mentioned above, the the No.1 N4 is a single SIM phone and supports GSM/ 850/900/1800/1900 ; WCDMA 850/2100  network bands.

As for the software, the No.1 Note 4 runs on Android 4.4 KitKat OS out of the box with a UI like the Samsung Touch Wiz. We have already pointed out that the overall UI experience is almost the same as Samsung, thanks to the color profile, tweaks in settings menu, notifications panel as well as the home screen which makes it a look a lot like Touch Wiz. There are a lot of software gestures available on the device, but now that’s common among recent Chinese smartphones, so its not really a new feature. Still, its good to have features such as air gestures which help you to operate the device.

VERDICT

As you can see, the No.1 Note 4 is a pretty good device. You get a lot of additional features such as the S Pen, heart rate monitor as well as a infrared remote which sets is apart from other Chinese offerings currently available in the market.

The fact that it is build upon the design of one of most loved phablets of the year makes it special. Of course, performance is no way near the original Note 4 but for the price that you pay, this clone definitely deserves some appreciation.

Just last week No.1 released a set of images of the new No.1 X-men X1 ultra-rugged smartphone. However, at that time, apart from pictures, there was very little information about the specifications of the device. But today, the company has revealed some more details on the X1 and judging from the specs, the overall package definitely looks impressive.

On the front, there is a 5-inch 1280 x 720p HD display, which is big considering other rugged phones in the market. Like we pointed out earlier, this battery should be enough for many days and you won’t have to worry about a charger when you are going out somewhere with this device.

The No.1 X-Men X1 is IP68 compliant, so you know that its ruggedness is certified. What’s more, the company claims that the phone is 7-proof! What they mean is that the X1 is resistant against seven different types of damages. So, the phone is waterproof, dustproof , pressure proof, freezeproof, Shockproof, high-temperature proof and Scratch Proof. The strong outer frame makes sure that your phone is protected from any of the above mentioned dangers.

Unlike some rugged smartphones, the No. X-Men X1 doesn’t look ugly too. You have strong design lines with a bright orange shade throughout the device which set its apart from the crowd. Its may be a bit bulky to look at, however, we feel the extra large 5,800 mAh battery easily compensates for the thickness.

No.1 has come up with  number of clones in the past few months. Just recently we looked at the No.1 Mi4 smartphone and the No.1 G2 smartwatch. Now, the company is all set to launch its next product, the No.1 Note 4+. This device is the upgraded version of the Note 4 clone announced a few months back. So, it would cater to a much wider audience than its previous model.

No.1 4+ comes with just the essential upgrades that you need. For example, this new device now supports 4G LTE networks, thanks to the Meditek MTK6290 modem that comes inside it. This is the first Mediatek 4G LTE modem and supports TD-LTE, FDD-LTE, TD-SCDMA, WCDMA, GSM and Edge networks. Moreover, it is built on a 28nm process with Cortex-7 architecture which integrates into the four physical cores. So, it retains the power efficient characteristic of its earlier model.

Other than this, there are not many known changes. For example, it features the same 5.7 inch display with HD resolution like the Note 4 clone along with a 2800 mAh battery. No.1 has not yet given out any details about its camera or RAM capacity, but we expect more details pretty soon.

No.1 is known for its ultra-affordable phones, so the Note 4+ could turn out to be one of the cheapest LTE handsets in the market. We expect it to be priced a little higher than Note 4’s current pricetag of $135. So, the Note 4+ could sell around $150.

In the past few months, we have seen numerous clones of Xiaomi Mi4. Just yesterday, we covered the new Zeaplus M4 which was yet another clone of the Mi4 and today, we have one another device called as the No.1 Mi4 which replicates the same design as the Xiaomi flagship.

Mi4 has really set a standard in the market when it comes to clones. At present, there are a number clones from different manufacturers like Elephone, Doogee and Zeaplus. This is actually not that surprising, as Xiaomi’s flagship is one of the best Chinese smartphone currently available in the market. It has a beautiful aluminium design that looks much better than other plastic phones. Moreover, the design is simple yet looks premium which makes it easier to replicate. This is the main reason why we have been seeing so many Mi4 clones in the past few months.

So, lets take a look at the No.1 Mi4 Review.

UNBOXING

No.1 has a reputation of making beautiful replicas of famous flagship devices. We have already seen clones of OnePlus One, Samsung Galaxy S5, iPhone 6 and even Samsung Galaxy Note from the company. These devices are well built and comes at a very affordable price tag, which has helped the company grow in the market.

The No.1 Mi4  came in a golden colored plain cardboard box with the No.1 logo on top. Opening the box was pretty easy and so was the process of disassembling everything. In the box, you get the phone, a charging adapter, a MicroUSB cable for charging and transferring data to and from your phone to the PC, a screen protector and finally, the user manual.

You don’t get headphones with the device, but all other necessary items come inside the box.

DESIGN

The No.1 Mi4, like the name suggests borrows its design from Xiaomi’s Mi4 flagship. In fact, without the Mi logo on the front and the No.1 logo on the back, you won’t be able to distinguish between the two.

We compared both the devices and the results were exactly what we expected. Each and every detail from the Mi4 is replicated by this new clone.

On the front, you have a 5 inch screen with the ear piece, front camera and the sensor above the display. Below it, you have three capacitive buttons namely the back, home and the more options. The only way to distinguish between the two from the front is by checking whether there’s a Mi logo on the top left corner of the device. The one with the logo is the Mi4 while the other is the new No.1 Mi4.

On the right side, you have the volume rocker keys along with the power button below it while on the left you have the sim card slot. The placement of these buttons are exactly the same as the Mi4 flagship. On top you have the 3.5 mm headphone jack, and at the bottom you get a MicroUSB port for charging as well as a speaker grill.

The Mi4 clone features the same glossy back cover as the original device. On top you have a 13MP camera with an LED flash below it, while at the bottom, you have the No.1 logo instead of Xiaomi.

In short, if you have ever seen the new Xiaomi flagship, you know exactly how the No.1 Mi4 looks like.

The build quality is at par with the Xiaomi flagship. But naturally, its not exactly the same as the Mi4 as you may see feel some difference between the two. However, given that the Mi4 cost more than $350, we are sure you won’t mind the slight difference in build quality between both the devices.

DISPLAY

Being a Mi4 clone, the No.1 Mi4 features a 5 inch display on the front with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. We have seen that the 720p resolution on a 5 inch display managed to display images and videos quite clearly. So even though it lacks 1080p resolution like the original model, even a slightly lower resolution produces satisfactory results.

The images and videos on the device were quite vibrant and clear. Colors were rich, but slightly dull. Also, one important thing to note was that the colors were a bit different from what we saw on the original Mi4. For example, the No.1 Mi4 on the right shows more whiter colors as opposed to the Mi4 on the left. Also, with the lower resolution, if you look very closely, you may seen some pixels which you won’t on the Xiaomi Mi4, thanks to its Full HD display.

Still as you can see, the different isn’t significant and we were happy with the overall quality of the display on the Mi4 clone.

As you can see, the images look slightly washed out on No.1’s display but it is still comparable to the images seen on the Xiaomi model. With its 720p display, the pixel density comes to 320 pixels per inch.

HARDWARE & PERFORMANCE

Almost every Mi4 clone in the market features the Mediatek MT6582 Quad Core processor. The same goes with this model too as it comes with the a 1.3 Ghz Quad Core processor with the above Mediatek chipset. You get 1GB onboard RAM along with Mali-400MP GPU and 16GB internal ROM.

The 1GB RAM along with the Quad Core processor is more than enough for basic multitasking. Gaming turned out to be smooth and responsive, as we experienced very little lag while playing games like asphalt 8. The phone responded quickly when opening apps too, however struggled a bit when it had to run a very heavy app. But for its price, you can’t really expect stellar performance, so for your everyday usage, the phone will definitely impress you.

When we ran the AnTuTu benchmark test on the device, it showed a score of 19,403 which is a decent score for a phone that’s sells for less than $150. While opening and running apps too, the device managed to respond to the requests quite fast.

Usually, phones in this price range get scores up to 18,000 points, so the 19,403 score that we got is definitely good.

So, in short, we were pretty happy with the overall performance of the device. If you make sure that there are not a lot of background apps running on the device, then it should perform quite well.

As for the battery, you have 1,800 mAh capacity inside, which to be honest is a bit small. But still with the power efficient chipset, you should get around a day’s usage, which is quite acceptable.

CAMERA

The No.1 Mi4 comes with a 13Mp rear camera along with a 5MP front shooter. The rear camera managed to capture decent pictures with some detail. However, color reproduction was not very natural. Colors were a bit off,  and in such well lit conditions, we expected better results.

However, there were times when the No.1 Mi4’s camera surprised us. For example, when there was ample sunlight or any other source of light, the pictures came out good. In fact, many of the times, the colors were also accurate. But like all other phones in this range, the low light performance was average. When using the camera indoors, the noise increased and the clarity reduced.

So, if you were planning to take some pictures with the device, make sure you do it outdoors when there’s enough sunshine as you won’t be disappointed.

The image came out quite clear but the colors were much brighter than in real life.

This was a surprising click. Like we mentioned above, sometimes the colors came out quite accurate and this was one of those moments.

The camera menu is slightly different than the Mi4, but the options are more or less the same.

SOFTWARE & PERFORMANCE

The device runs on Android 4.4 Kitkat OS out of the box with MIUI launcher on top. So, if you are used to MIUI, you should have no trouble operating this device as most of the options like notifications panel, settings panel are identical to Mi4’s OS.

No.1 Mi4 does have some extra features like Wireless Display feature which directly connects the phone to your HDTV. All you have to do is turn on its Wireless Display function and pair it with your TV and you can use the large screen to display whats showing on your device.

This is a very useful feature especially when you want to play your favorite Android games or even watch HD videos directly on your large screen HDTV.

Another feature, which have become quite common among Chinese phones is the infrared remote. Using this remote, you can control pretty much anything at your home including your air condition, washing machine and so on. So no need to look for the remote of every appliance as a single phone can control everything that’s inside your house.

VERDICT

To sum up, No.1 Mi4 is a great clone. You get the same looks as Mi4, a beautiful MIUI like interface along with a host of other special features at a very affordable price. The device currently sold from No.1.
