Xiaomi launched the Redmi 12 5G and Redmi 12 4G smartphones in India last week. Both devices carry a budget price tag and are identical apart from a different processor. The phones also pack impressive specifications. The brand seems to aim to disrupt the budget segment in the country with the latest offerings. Now, Xiaomi has announced a remarkable milestone of the Redmi 12 duo. 

Redmi 12 series sales achievement

The Redmi 12 5G and Redmi 12 4G went on sale starting August 4 on Amazon India, Flipkart, Mi.com, and retail stores. The company announced that it received an overwhelming response for oth smartphones. 300,000 units of the Redmi 12 series were sold on the very first day of the sale. This means that it was well-received by customers. The brand likely made INR 3 billion (or 300 cores) from the sale of the Redmi 12 duo. 

Xiaomi did not announce the exact sales numbers of the 5G and 4G variants of the Redmi 12. Both phones seem to be out of stock on Amazon and Flipkart as they are listed with a ‘Coming Soon’ tag. A banner on Xiaomi’s website reveals that the company will be back on August 8. It could be possibly related to the next sale date for the smartphones. 

The Redmi 12 4G and 5G have a glass back panel with a 50MP primary and 2MP macro camera sensors (the 4G variant has an additional 8MP lens), and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. Both devices feature a 6.78-inch display with an FHD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. Internally, the Redmi 12 4G is powered by an Helio G88 SoC whereas the 5G version is equipped with a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chip. Both devices are backed by a 5,000mAh battery unit with support for 18W fast charging. 

The Redmi 12 4G is priced at Rs 9,999 and Rs 11,499 for the 4GB + 128GB and 6GB + 128GB options. The same configurations of the 5G variant cost Rs 11,999 and Rs 13,499. The Redmi 12 5G is also offered in 8GB + 256GB variant priced at Rs 15,499.

Redmi 12 India launch is right around the corner

The Chinese tech giant shared the teaser from its official Twitter account. Looking at the video, we can see an unnamed device being teased. However, the slight glimpse that we get of the handset makes it clear that it is the Redmi 12. For those unaware, the smartphone model has already been launched in certain other regions across the globe. So, we have a good idea as to what specifications it might feature.

The device sports a tall 6.79 inch IPS LCD panel that has a Full HD+ resolution, 550 nits of peak brightness, and 90Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, the Redmi 12 is equipped with a MediaTek Helio G88 SoC that is paired with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Although, this storage configuration was specifically made available in Thailand. But this variant might be arriving in India as well, considering that the teaser shows Polar Silver option that was also unveiled in Thailand previously.

Other notable features include, a 50 megapixel triple camera setup on the rear, an 8 megapixel selfie shooter, Android 13 OS based MIUI 14 ucstom skin, side mounted fingerprint scanner, 3.5mm headphone jack, IP53 rating, 5000mAh battery pack that supports 33W fast charging. Xiaomi had just recently launched the Redmi Watch 3 Lite in the Chinese market. However, the availability of this smartwatch wasn’t officially announced for any other region. But now, new information have hinted at the wearable possibly arriving in the Indian market soon.

Redmi Watch 3 Lite India launch could be right around the corner

The news arrives from known tipster Mukul Sharma, who shared the information on Twitter. Unfortunately, he only hinted at the Redmi Watch 3 Lite’s supposed Indian availability and did not reveal any other detail. In other words, key details like pricing, launch date, and other crucial information are still unknown at the moment. But if the rumors are true, we at least know what to expect since the smartwatch has already been launched in China.

The Redmi Watch 3 Lite sports a tall 1.83 inch IPS screen, which offers support for over 200 watch faces. It even arrives with various health relates sensors like a heart rate tracker, SpO2 blood oxygen mapping, a sleep tracker, and a menstrual cycle tracker as well. The body is build with 5ATM water resistance rating and the device arrives with support for Bluetooth 5.3 as well as offers Bluetooth calling.

Notably, the smartwatch can last for up to 8 days of battery life with heavy use and around 12 days with normal use. The smartwatch arrives in two variants, including a Space Black and Twilight Grey strap options. It had launched in China for a price tag of 399 Yuan, so we can expect it to launch in India around the 5,000 INR price tag range as well.

Xiaomi has officially confirmed that the Redmi A2 series will be launching Indian market. The lineup consists of the Redmi A2 and the A2+ model, which will be released in the region later this month. So here are all the details.

Redmi A2 series to launch with MediaTek Helio G36

For those unaware, the Chinese tech giant had first announced the A2 series smartphones back in March 2023 in the global markets. And now, the brand has confirmed that the lineup will be arriving in the Indian market as well. The two smartphones are quite similar to one another and feature some very similar specifications. Both models sport a 6.52 inch HD+ LCD panel and are equipped with a MediaTek Helio G36 SoC.

The A2 and A2+ houses a 5 megapixel selfie camera on the front, while the rear features an 8 megapixel dual camera setup with a secondary depth sensor. Under the hood, the two devices are powered by a large 5,000mAh battery pack but with just standard 10W charging support. Notably, the only difference between the two models is the inclusion of a rear mounted fingerprint scanner on the slightly more expensive Redmi A2+ model. Apart from this, both devices will run on Android 13 Go Edition.

Based on what we know so far, the A2 and A2+ will launch in India in multiple color options, which includes the Light Blue, Light Green and Black variants. Furthermore, the two smartphones also feature a leather like back panel. The Redmi A2 series will be sold on Amazon, as well as offline stores and the company’s official website.

Redmi Note 12 Pro series is confirmed to launch in India on January 5th. The lineup is confirmed to include a Pro+ 5G (review) variant. The Redmi Note 12 series debuted in China in October this year. The Xiaomi sub-brand has been teasing key features of the upcoming offering on its Twitter handle. Now tipster Paras Guglani has shared information about the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G. 

As per Guglani, the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G will come in 6GB + 128GB, 8GB + 256GB, and 12GB + 256GB RAM and storage configurations. These will be priced at Rs 24,999, Rs 26,999, and Rs 28,999 respectively. The tipster adds that the prices are inclusive of bank offers. Additionally, the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G is said to go on sale from January 11th. It’s unclear whether it will be available for purchase from Amazon or Flipkart. 

So far, the Xiaomi sub-brand has confirmed that the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G will come with a 120Hz centre-aligned punch-hole AMOLED display. It will feature 1.07+ billion colours and support for Dolby Vision and Atmos. The upcoming offering will support 120W fast charging that is claimed to top up the device fully in 19 minutes. Lastly, the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G is confirmed to sport a 200MP HPX camera. 

The rest of the specifications of the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G Indian variant are expected to be the same as its Chinese counterpart. This means that the smartphone could come with a 6.67-inch FHD+ screen and a 16MP front-facing selfie snapper. The upcoming offering is expected to be powered by a Dimensity 1080 processor and be backed by a 5,000mAh battery unit.

This basically confirms the Note 12 series launch in India, and also that its announcement is just around the corner. For those unaware, the Note 12 lineup consists of three smartphone models, which includes the Note 12, Note 12 Pro, and the Note 12 Pro+.

So, we can expect the company to release all of these models in India as well. While the teaser did confirm the launch, it has yet to reveal an official launch date for the phones. On the other hand, the Redmi Note 10 Pro series are set to launch in the region tomorrow (December 8). The Note 12 5G series will launch with a flat edge design and will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1080 SoC. The new affordable handset from the Chinese tech giant sports a 6.52 inch display on the front that has an LCD panel, 20:9 aspect ratio, waterdrop notch, and HD+ resolution with a standard 60Hz refresh rate. Meanwhile, the rear packs a dual camera setup on a camera module housed on the top left corner. This also houses an LED flash and there is also a rear mounted fingerprint scanner near the center of the back panel. Notably, the rear panel also offers a leather texture finish to add some premium feel.

The camera setup includes an 8 megapixel primary sensor and a 2 megapixel depth shoother on the rear, while the front houses a 5 megapixel selfie camera. Under the hood, the device is equipped with a MediaTek Helio A22 SoC that is paired with up to 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded via a microSD card slot. Under the initiative, consumers can get their Xiaomi and Redmi device’s battery checked at the Mi Service Centre. If the battery turns out to have a lower than advised health, users can get it replaced by paying a nominal amount starting from just Rs. 499. The prices for the battery would obviously vary from model to model and would likely be a bit more pricy for older devices due to production issues.

Nonetheless, the initiative is a good step from the brand toward increasing the life and usability of their devices. As we know, modern smartphones use lithium-ion batteries which degrade over time. According to a MySmartPrice report, the Redmi 10 Prime+ launch might be right around the corner as it was spotted on the BIS certification website. The device was listed on the Bureau of Indian Standards, with the 22041219I model number. Unfortunately, the certification listing does not reveal any finer details regarding this handset, but known tipster Kacper Skrzypek shared some additional information (Via MySmartPrice) about the upcoming smartphone.

In his latest tweet, Kacper stated that the Redmi Note 11E, which was launched in China just a few days prior, might have a few rebadges under both the POCO and Redmi branded series. The tipster claims that this will include the likes of the Redmi 10 5G, 10 Prime+ 5G, and even the POCO M4 5G as well. So while the BIS listing does not reveal any information, the Note 11E’s specifications helps in offering us a clearer picture of its possible features.

Thus, the 10 Prime+ 5G may sport a 6.58 inch Full HD+ LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate and 600 nits of maximum brightness. The device is also powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 700 processor, paired with up to 6GB of LPDDR4X RAM, and 128GB UFS 2.2 internal storage. Under the hood, a large 5,000mAh battery pack runs the device, which supports 18W fast charging. For photography, the device may house a 50 megapixel dual camera setup on the rear. Keep in mind that this is still an unconfirmed report, so take it with a pinch of salt for now.

Around the end of the livestream, the Chinese tech giant teased the launch of the Redmi 10. Apart from the slide that stated that the device will be launching soon, the brand did not reveal any other information regarding the upcoming handset. As of right now, the Redmi 10 has not been spotted on any certification website, although, the Redmi 10C was spotted on FCC and IMEI databases. So, the Redmi 10C global version may be launching in India as tghe Redmi 10 in India.

On the other hand, we had also recently reported on the Redmi 10 Prime 2022 receiving BIS certification. The Redmi 10 2022 had launched in China back in February, and the Prime model in India is rumored to be the rebadged version for India. This might be true considering the Redmi 10 2021 launched in India as the Redmi 10 Prime 2021 last year. Unfortunately, this is still just speculation, so take it with a pinch of salt for now.

So, its likely that Xiaomi’s Redmi 10C will be the Redmi 10 in India, since the Redmi 9C had launched in India as the Redmi 9. For those unaware, the Redmi 9 sported a 6.53 inch IPS LCD display with HD+ resolution and a waterdrop notch. Furthermore, it housed a MediaTek G35 processor with up to 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The device had a dual rear camera setup with a 13 megapixel primary sensor and a 5 megapixel selfie shooter. It was powered by a large 5,000mAh battery pack as well. As the smartwatch is already available in other markets, we already know all the details regarding its specifications. The Redmi Watch 2 Lite features a 1.55-inch 360 x 320 pixels touch screen color display with support for over 100 watch faces. It has a button on the side for navigation and accessing the menu.

Similar to most modern smartwatches, it offered biometric sensors like heart rate monitoring, steps country, blood oxygen levels measuring, and more. Furthermore, it also offers over 100 sports modes and the wearables also arrive with GPS along with support for Galileo, GLONASS, and BDS. It is rated 5ATM for water resistance as well. Xiaomi even launched the Redmi Watch 2 Lite with its proprietary operating system that offered 100 watch faces.

The wearable is powered by a 262mAh battery pack that it claims can offer 10 days of battery life. The Redmi Smart TV X43 was launched in India today as the most compact version of the Redmi Smart TV X series that went live back in March 2021. The launch takes the tally up to a total of 4 models and all of them carry identical specifications, save for the screen size.

Starting with the display, the Redmi Smart TV X43 has a 4K HDR (3840*2160) panel with support for Dolby Vision, HDR 10+, and over 85% of the NTSC color space. Vivid Picture Engine and Wide Color Gamut are also supported. The inclusion of MEMC means blur-free visuals in sports and games.

As per the announcement, the test would have both brands conduct a 5G standalone lab trial, which would have the Note 11T 5G go though various scenarios to ensure it offers users an “enhanced” 5G experience. For those unaware, the upcoming Note 11T 5G is the company’s latest offering in the Indian market that will arrive with support for 7 bands including SA (n1/ n3/ n5/n8/ n28/ n40/ n78) and NSA (n1/n3/n40/n78).

For those unaware, plans for the 5G auction in India has been delayed for another six months. This arrives as brands like Jio, Airtel, and Vodafone Idea to get an extension for their trials. Talking about the device itself, Note 11T 5G will sport a MediaTek Dimensity 810 SoC, which is an octa core processor that clocks at 2.4GHz and is based on the 6nm process. It sports a 6.6 inch FHD+ panel with 2400×1080 resolution, 90Hz refresh rate, and 240Hz touch sampling rate. Notably, it also the one of the first Note series device to have access to 7 bands, and will launch in the country on 30th November 2021.

Xiaomi has just announced the launch date for the upcoming Redmi Note 11T 5G. The new smartphone will be the latest entry in the company’s popular Note series of handsets and will be launched in India later this month.

The Chinese tech giant officially shared the news on its official Twitter handle and also updated its webpage on Amazon India. Looking at this image poster, the Redmi Note 11T 5G will be unveiled in India on the 30th of November 2021. Notably, this is in line with a leak we had covered previously, which was from a reliable tipster. But now, we finally have an official confirmation.

Talking about the device itself, the Redmi Note 11T 5G will sport a MediaTek Dimensity 810 SoC, which is an octa core processor that clocks at 2.4GHz and is based on the 6nm process. Furthermore, it will be paired with up to 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage. The Note 11T will also be available in multiple storage configurations, like 6GB+64GB, 6GB+128GB, and 8GB+128GB.

On the front, the smartphone sports a 6.6 inch FHD+ panel with 2400×1080 resolution, 90Hz refresh rate, and 240Hz touch sampling rate. Meanwhile, the rear houses a 50 megapixel primary camera with an 8 megapixel ultra wide angle lens. Its selfie shooter is a 16 megapixel sensor, while the device is powered by a large 5,000mAh battery pack that supports 33W fast charging solution. Earlier today (23rd September 2021), we had reported on Redmi gearing up for the launch of a new Redmi 9 series smartphone soon. But it seems that the launch was imminent as the company has officially announced the new device.

The Redmi 9 Activ is the latest smartphone from the budget sub brand of Xiaomi that is priced under the 10,000 INR (roughly 135 US Dollars) segment in India. Notably, the Activ is a slightly beefier version of the Redmi 9 in terms of RAM. The company launched the new budget handset in India in two storage options, which includes a 4GB and 6GB RAM variants. The former is paired with 64GB of internal storage while the latter houses 128GB of internal storage.

Furthermore, the new smartphone is powered by a large 5,000mAh battery pack with 10W charging. Under the hood, the Activ sports a MediaTek Helio G35 SoC and even offers support for storage expansion via a MicroSD card. On the rear, a fingerprint scanner is housed along with a dual camera module consisting of a 13 megapixel primary lens and a 2 megapixel depth sensor. On the front, the device features a 6.5 inch HD+ display that has a waterdrop notch with a 5 megapixel selfie shooter.

The device runs the Android 11 based MIUI 12 out of the box and will officially go on sale starting from September 24. The 4G RAM + 64GB storage variant is priced at 9,499 INR (roughly 130 US Dollars), while the 6GB RAM + 128GB storage version costs 10,999 INR (roughly 150 US Dollars). The company has launched the Activ in multiple color options, including Carbon Black, Coral Green, Sky Blue and Sporty Orange. It will be available for purchase from Mi.com, Mi Home Stores and Amazon India.

Xiaomi is gearing up for the launch of its latest lineup of smart TVs from its sub brand Redmi in India. The latter has launched smart TVs in the region back in the past, and now, it seeks diversify its offerings with the announcement set for September 22.

The Chinese tech giant has just shared the news and even put up a new page on its official website in India. In this page, a countdown to September 22 can be seen along with the title Redmi Smart TV series, which is an ‘All Round Smart Entertainment’ system. Notably, the online announcement states that the launch will begin at noon 12 pm and even revealed the sizes of the upcoming TVs. Redmi will launch the Smart TV series in a 32 inch and 43 inch form factor.

Back in May, we had reported on the company’s Redmi Smart TV being spotted on the Google Play Console listing, which revealed certain details regarding the new product. This included its codename ‘Tarzen’ and its model number MiTV-MOOQ3. As per this listing, the Smart TV series will offer Full HD resolution and will be powered by a MediaTek T31 chipset with 2GB of RAM. It will also run on the Android 10 operating system, which is the latest for TVs.

Since Redmi is known to be Xiaomi’s budget subsidiary, these specs and sizes indicate that it might be launched at a competitive price point. This is further backed by the Redmi Smart TV X series, which was launched in three different sizes namely, 50 inch, 55 inch, and 65 inch that started from 32,999 INR (roughly 455 US Dollars). In other words, the new lineup might be more affordable than the X lineup. Keep in mind that this is still speculation at the moment, so take it with a pinch of salt and stay tuned as we will be covering the launch event later this month.

Earlier today (27th July 2021), Xiaomi sub brand, Redmi, announced that it will be launching its own laptops in India on 3rd August 2021. The new notebooks will be a part of its RedmiBook lineup and will expand the brand’s product offerings in the region.

The Chinese smartphone maker announced that it aims to broaden its device portfolio in India and aims on launching products like power banks, earbuds, smart bands, and more, which would compliment its smartphones and the users’ lifestyles. Previously, the company had even teased the arrival of the laptops during the Redmi Note 10T launch conference. Now, we have an official date for the announcement of the upcoming laptops.

Unfortunately, we have no finer details as to which models the company would be launching in India at the moment. Although, the brand had recently announced certain new models for its home market of China. Back in May 2021, the company announced the new RedmiBook Pro 14 and 15 laptops in China. These laptops feature AMD’s latest Ryzen 5000 series processors instead of the Intel chipsets that were found in the previous iterations.

Thus, we might see similar notebooks launching in India as well that could sport either a 14 inch or 15 inch panel. Furthermore, the RedmiBook Pro series in China arrived with DDR4 RAM and NVMe PCIe SSD storage as well, which was also offered in the Mi Notebook lineup that Xiaomi had launched in India in the past. Earlier today (20th July 2021), Redmi had held an online launch event in India in which it unveiled its latest smartphone, the Note 10T 5G. During this live stream on YouTube, the company also teased the launch of its RedmiBook series of laptops in the region.

At the end of the live stream, the Chinese smartphone maker teased the arrival of various products. This includes smartphones, power banks, Redmi Audio, Fitness, upcoming smart TVs, and right before the end it spelt out the incompleted “RedmiBoo,” which clearly implies the brand’s own lineup of notebooks. Unfortunately, this is all the information the company shared regarding this matter as of right now.

In other words, we have nothing but this split second teaser to go on at the moment. Although, this does mean that the company is finally bringing its laptops to the region, which could be beneficial to the company as work from home/ remote working along with online education lifestyles are still common amid the pandemic. Furthermore, if Redmi follows its value for money philosophy with laptops, we might see capable hardware in aggressively priced notebooks.

Previously, Xiaomi had also launched its Mi Notebook 14 laptops in India that saw strong sales at its price point. The Redmi Watch has just been announced in India. The smartwatch is the latest wearable that arrives in the region and was launched along with the Redmi Note 10S earlier today (13th May 2021).

Talking about its specifications and features, the new wearable offers a lot of the functions that are quite common with other smartwatches. This includes 11 sports modes for tracking physical activities, along with built in GPS + GLONASS for accurate navigation. The smartwatch is also capable of monitoring the users’ heartbeat, guided breathing, and can track sleep cycles as well. The new watch from the Chinese tech giant can be paired with a smartphone through the Xiaomi Wear app and offers more than 200 faces for its watch.

The device sports a 1.4 inch colored TFT LCD display that is covered by a 2.5D curved glass. Redmi officially claims that the wearable can last for up to 10 days on a single full charge and even offers 5ATM water resistance on the smartwatch as well. Notably, the smartwatch is the second wearable from the company in India, after the Redmi Band that was launched previously in the region.

The newly unveiled device was first announced back in November 2020 in China and will finally go on sale in India starting from 25th May 2021 and will be available in four different strap color variants along with Bluetooth 5.0 support. It is priced at 3,999 INR, or about 54 US Dollars and can be bought from the company’s official Mi Stores and Flipkart.com.

Xiaomi has officially introduced Redmi-branded smart televisions in India with the launch of the Redmi Smart TV X series. The lineup includes a total of three models (X65, X55, X50), which only differ in size and not specs. Also, it is worth noting that the products announced in India are different than the original Redmi Smart TV X series that was unveiled in late May 2020 in China.

The newly launched Redmi Smart TV X series in India flaunts a LED-backlit LCD panel with a resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels (4K), 85% NTSC color gamut, and 92% DCI-P3 color gamut. The screen also supports Reality Flow (software-based MEMC), Vivid Picture Engine (proprietary color profile), all the popular HDR standards, such as HDR10, HDR10+, HLG, and Dolby Vision.

As far as size is concerned, like their name suggests, the X65, X55, and X50 feature a 65-inch, 55-inch, and 50-inch display respectively.

Further, these televisions are powered by an unknown 64-bit SoC with a quad-core ARM Cortex-A55 CPU and ARM Mali G52 MP2 GPU. They come with 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, and run Android TV 10 with PatchWall content aggregation launcher.

The TVs support almost all the popular streaming services (25+), Chromecast Built-in, Google Assistant, and even ships with the Mi Home app (for the first time in India) to manage Xiaomi smart products.

On the connectivity front, the televisions come with dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, 3 x HDMI 2.1 with support for ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode) and eARC (only one, Dolby Atmos pass-through), 2 x USB 2.0, AV input, 1 x optical, antenna, 3.5mm headphone jack, and ethernet.

Taling about audio, these TVs sport 2 x 15W speakers, which are capable of providing a maximum output rate of 30W. These speakers support Dolby Audio, DTS-HD, and DTS Virtual: X (via OTA update).

Other features of these Redmi televisions include a new remote control (slightly different than Mi TV remote), Quick Wake (boot up in 5 seconds), Quick Settings (long press PatchWall button), Mute (Double-click Volume Down key), Universal Search. After teasing for the past few days, Xiaomi India has finally launched the Redmi 9 Power in India. As expected, this smartphone is a tweaked version of the Redmi Note 9 4G that debuted in China last month. Let us take a look at the specs, features, and price of this handset.

The new Redmi-branded smartphone sports a 6.53-inch IPS LCD panel on the front with a resolution of 2340 x 1080 pixels (FHD+), 19.5:9 aspect ratio, and a typical brightness level of 400 nits. The display also includes a dew-drop notch at the top for an 8MP selfie camera. Moreover, the screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and it is also certified by TÜV Rheinland for low blue light emission (Reading Mode).

Xiaomi debuted the  Mi 10T Lite in late September in Europe alongside Mi 10T and Mi 10T Pro. The latter two smartphones made their way to India but the former did not. Similarly, Redmi announced Redmi Note 9 4G last week in China. As per multiple findings, these two handsets will be unveiled as Mi 10i and Redmi 9 Power in India. Ahead of their official launch, the storage variants and color options of these phones have leaked.

The new leak regarding Mi 10i and Redmi 9 Power comes from Ishan Agarwal who has partnered with 91Mobiles for its distribution. According to him, these two handsets will be available in India in two storage configurations and three colors each.

The upcoming Mi 10i is codenamed ‘gauguininpro’ and will bear the model number M2007J17I. It is expected to be a rebranded Mi 10T Lite with Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G, 120Hz display, and 64MP quad-camera. As per the new tip, it will be available in the following storage variants and colors.

Hence, we feel like Xiaomi shared its achievement during Diwali sales just because realme did it yesterday. According to Xiaomi Data Center, the company registered its highest-ever sales by selling over 13 million devices. Out of which, over 9 million were smartphones. Mi 10T Pro, Redmi Note 9 Pro Max, Redmi Note 9 Pro, Redmi 9 Prime, Redmi 9, and Redmi 9A were some of the best-selling models.

Further, the remaining 4 million units consisted of smart TVs, Mi Ecosystem products, and accessories. Out of this, 450K+ devices were smart TVs and other Home Entertainment products like Mi TV Stick and Mi Box 4K, which were among the top-selling streaming devices across Amazon India and Flipkart.

Xiaomi says that the demand for 4K televisions was much more than last year and 50/55-inch TVs saw over 50% growth. That’s not all, the sales of Mi Air Purifiers increased by 100% and new products like Mi Watch Revolve and Mi Smart Speaker witnessed a great response from consumers.

Last but not least, Mi Bands continued to be among the best-selling products in the fitness category, and ‘Made in India’ Mi Power Banks hit 10 million sales during this period.

The Redmi family is about to get bigger in India. Just a week after launching the Redmi 9, Redmi India is set to announce the entry-level Redmi 9A.

The manufacturer has set Wednesday, September 2, as the launch date for the smartphone and has also announced that it will go on sale on Friday, September 4. Redmi India is also going to announce a new pair of wired earphones on the same day. So if you will be picking up the device when it launches, you may also want to grab a pair of new earphones as there won’t be one in the box.

The Redmi 9A will have a 6.53-inch HD+ display which is bigger than that of its predecessor but it will keep the waterdrop notch. There is an Helio G25 processor under the hood powering the device. While the international variant has 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, there is a chance the Indian version will have a different configuration.

The phone will have a single 13MP camera on its back and a 5MP selfie camera. Just like the Redmi 8A, it will have a 5000mAh battery capacity, but disappointingly, there is no 18W charging this time around and the USB-C port has been swapped for a MicroUSB one. The Redmi 9A will run MIUI 12 based on Android 10 out of the box.

The Redmi 9A launched in Europe for €99 (~INR 8,625) but it should be cheaper in India since the Redmi 9 which has better specs is priced at INR 8,999 (~€103) for the base model with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.

Earlier this month, Redmi India announced the Redmi 9 Prime. The phone is already available for purchase with the next flash sale date set for 12 Noon on August 24. Now, the manufacturer is teasing the arrival of another smartphone, and we have a good guess which phone it is.

The teaser was posted earlier today on Twitter and lists the already launched Redmi smartphones this year such as the Redmi Note 9 Pro Max and Redmi Note 9 Pro which launched in March; the Redmi Note 9 that was announced in July, and the Redmi 9 Prime. The teaser hints at the new smartphone also having a “9” in its name.

We believe the upcoming smartphone is the Redmi 9A which already launched in Europe. The Indian variant of the phone with the model number M2006C3LI has been certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance back in June.

The Redmi 9A is an entry-level smartphone with a 6.53-inch 720 x 1600 display that has a waterdrop notch. It is powered by an Helio G25 processor with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. There is a dedicated MicroSD card slot that allows users to add more storage.

On the back of the Redmi 9A is a 13MP camera and an LED flash while the selfie camera is a 5MP camera. There is a massive 5000mAh battery under the hood of the phone with support for 10W charging via a MicroUSB port. The phone also has an audio jack and Bluetooth 5.0. The Wi-Fi certificate revealed the Indian variant will run MIUI 12 (based on Android 10) out of the box.

The Redmi 9 is priced at INR 9,999 (~$134), so the Redmi 9A should sell for a lower price tag, probably around INR 7,499 (~$100).

The Redmi Note 9 is making its way to India. The official Redmi India account has announced that the smartphone will be unveiled on July 20.

The Redmi Note 9’s siblings – the Redmi Note 9 Pro and Redmi Note 9 Pro Max already launched in the country back in May. The launch will take place online and begin at 12 PM IST.

The teaser image attached to the tweet shows the phone has four rear cameras and also hints at fast charging.

The Redmi Note 9 has a 6.53-inch LCD display with a punch-hole at the top left corner of the screen. There is an Helio G85 processor inside with 3GB RAM and 64GB of storage. There is also a variant with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. A 48MP + 8MP + 2MP + 2MP quad-camera setup sits on the back of the phone while a 13MP camera sits in front for taking selfies.

Other features are a 5020mAh battery, 18W fast charging, NFC, IR blaster, USB-C port, and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. The phone also runs Android 10 out of the box.

We presume the variant coming to India may have slightly different specs such as a different RAM and storage configuration. It may also not have NFC.

Last week, we reported that the Redmi 8 has gotten a fourth price increase in India. Redmi India has now increased the price of the Redmi Note 8 and it is said to be the fifth price hike this year.

The 4GB RAM + 64GB phone which was originally launched with a starting price of INR 9,999 (~$132.97) last year now goes for INR 12,499 (~$166.22). The new price is an increase of INR 500 over its last selling price. The official Xiaomi website has been updated with the new price, and 91Mobiles has reported that the new price has taken effect at offline stores today.

There is a little bit of good news though. The price of the 6GB RAM + 128GB version has not been increased, so that still sells for INR 14,499 (~$193).

The Redmi Note 8 has a 6.3-inch FHD+ LCD display with a notch at the top for a 13MP front-facing camera. It is powered by the Snapdragon 665 processor. There is a 48MP camera on the back of the phone along with an 8MP ultrawide angle camera, a 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP depth sensor. The phone also has a 4000mAh battery, support for 18W fast charging, an audio jack, and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.

In the past few months, Redmi India has increased the price of some of its phones. Back in May, it increased the prices of the Redmi 8A Dual, Redmi 8, and Redmi Note 8. All three phones have gotten three price hikes since they launched. Now, the Redmi 8 is getting a fourth price increase.

According to Mi.com, the Redmi 8 will now sell for ₹9,799 (~$131). The phone launched for ₹7,999 (~$107), then got increased to ₹8,999 (~$120) following the increase in Goods and Services Tax. In early May, its price was increased to ₹9299 (~$125), and then in late May, it got a third price increase to ₹9,499 (~$127).

No reason has been given regarding the increase in price.

The Redmi 8 was launched in India last year. It has a 6.22-inch HD+ display with a waterdrop notch. There is a Snapdragon 439 processor inside the phone along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.

The phone has 12MP + 2MP dual rear cameras, an 8MP selfie camera, and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. There is a 5000mAh battery inside the phone with support for 18W fast charge. The Redmi 8 has an audio jack but you don’t need earphones for the FM radio to work. It also has a dedicated MicroSD card and charges via a USB-C port.

Tomorrow is going to be a big day as Samsung unveils its long-awaited Galaxy S20 series and Galaxy Flip Z. Prior to that, Redmi India will also have a launch event where it will announce a new mobile phone (Redmi 9A/Redmi 8A Pro) and the first product from a new but undisclosed category. The latest teaser posted by the official Twitter account hints at the second product being the RedmiBook PC.

The 22-second video shows the chamfered edges of what looks like a PC as well as the device in its opened state.

News of the RedmiBook launching in India first surfaced at the beginning of January when it was discovered that Xiaomi/Redmi India had applied for a trademark for “RedmiBook” at the Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry.

Redmi announced its first PC, the RedmiBook 14 back in May 2019. A few months later, it announced a new model called the RedmiBook 14 Enhanced Edition with Intel’s 10th Gen processors. Then in October, it followed it up with models powered by AMD’s Ryzen processors. Just before the end of the year, it unveiled a smaller model called the RedmiBook 13.

We do not know which of the aforementioned models of the RedmiBook will be announced tomorrow but we are excited nonetheless. This will be Xiaomi/Redmi’s very first computer sold in India and it remains to be seen if it can challenge other big-name brands in the Indian PC market.

Redmi is yet to launch a new product in India this year but something may be coming soon judging from a video teaser shared by the official twitter account.

The video was posted a few hours ago with the caption “The genesis of power begins here.” and the hashtag #MorePowerToRedmi. However, the video itself doesn’t reveal much about what to expect.

There have been several guesses since the video was posted. The account did say it is not a new phone, which rules out the Redmi 9 and Redmi Note 9. It also said it is not a computer, so it is not the RedmiBook. There are other guesses including power banks and faster-charging technology but the responses were vague. However, there is one product that didn’t show up in the comments and that is the Redmi Band.

It has been reported that Redmi is working on its first fitness tracker which is expected to launch as the Redmi Band. The fitness tracker will support payment, have a heart rate sensor, alarm function, and also display weather info.

It is possible the teaser is for the Redmi Band or a different product entirely. It may even be a new phone (Redmi 9A, Redmi 9, or Redmi Note 9) but decided to deny it just to mislead fans. Nevertheless, we will keep our eyes peeled for more info.

Xiaomi India has practically been trolling OnePlus for a while and the reason isn’t difficult to find out. OnePlus and Samsung controls India’s premium smartphone market. The OnePlus 7 Pro launch was yet another opportunity for Xiaomi India to resume its demarketing tactics against the OnePlus 7 Pro but this time the Redmi brand takes the front seat.

In a tweet posted a couple of days back, Redmi India shared a poster which practically disses the OnePlus 7 Pro. The poster has the text “Someone jus+ announced the World’s Fastest phone. Oh really? Hold my AnTuTu.” Notice the + sign used in place of letter T in “just”? That is a clue, the OnePlus model is referenced. Besides, OnePlus projects the model as the World’s Fastest phone. Definitely, Redmi India thinks otherwise, hence the cheeky reference to AnTuTu which we understand to mean the OnePlus 7 Pro will be floored by Redmi’s upcoming flagship Redmi K20 Pro.

The Redmi K20 Pro is expected to debut with a Snapdragon 855 chipset just like the OP7 Pro. Both models will square up with each other in other departments but we’ll need more than an AnTuTu benchmark score to be convinced as to which is better.

Xiaomi India has been a thorn in the flesh of smartphone rival OnePlus and it did not just start today. We could recall Xiaomi attended the OnePlus 6T India launch in October last year and reportedly shared calculators to fans at the event with the boxes having the inscription “You Do The Math” in comparison with the Pocophone F1 that was also launched around that period. The company later took to its Twitter handle to post a tweet which borrowed OnePlus’ slogan “Never Settle” but instead, it read “Never Settle for OverPriced” apparently comparing the OP6T price tag to that of the Poco F1. The tweet also had the hashtag #DoTheMath. In addition, Xiaomi also placed an outdoor billboard advert close to the OnePlus 6T conference venue with the same theme.

Save for the rear cameras, the Redmi Note 7 (India version) and the newly announced Redmi Note 7S are identical devices.

While Redmi/Xiaomi won’t say, we strongly believe the only reason the Redmi Note 7S exists in the first place is due to supply issues with the 48MP camera. It probably couldn’t get enough when it wanted to launch the Redmi Note 7, so it opted for a 12MP + 2MP dual camera setup instead. Now that there is sufficient supply, it decided to relaunch the phone as the Redmi Note 7S with a slightly higher price tag.

So what happens to the Redmi Note 7? According to Yash Garg (@yash3339), who handles product PR for Xiaomi, the Redmi Note 7S will replace the Redmi Note 7. This means the latter will eventually not be available again. To be honest, we don’t see why anyone will want to buy the Redmi Note 7 when the Note 7S with better cameras costs just INR 1000 (~$14) more.

For those who bought the Redmi Note 7 shortly before the Redmi Note 7S launched in India, we understand that this must be heartbreaking.

It would have been nice if there was a sort of program where Redmi Note 7 owners could drop their phones and pick it up later with the new Note 7S’ cameras installed for a fee, say the INR 1000 price difference. This is just wishful thinking and might never happen though.
