If the user ignores the warning and clicks OK, a WSF file in OneNote is executed. WSF, or Windows Script File, is used by Microsoft Windows Script Host. If the user still chooses to proceed, the WSF file embedded in OneNote will then run a PowerShell command to download and execute the file from the internet. The brand is now preparing to release its first smartphone series since the acquisition, named Meizu 20. The lineup should include Meizu 20 and 20 Pro. And while we wait for their formal debut, the two handsets have been spotted on Geekbench with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC under the hood. Here are the details.

Meizu 20 series has been in the news for a couple of months now and the company has already started teasing its launch in China. And today it has been confirmed the Meizu 20 and 20 Pro will make their debut in the Chinese market on March 30. Ahead of the official release, the Meizu 20 and 20 Pro have appeared on Geekbench.

Both smartphones have been listed on the benchmarking site with the latest and greatest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. While the specific name of the chipset is not explicitly stated in the listings, the information provided regarding the CPU and GPU strongly suggests that it is Qualcomm’s latest flagship mobile platform.

Geekbench reveals both devices are equipped with 12GB of RAM and run on the Android 13 OS. Both single-core and multi-core tests were conducted on the vanilla model and the Meizu 20 Pro. The standard Meizu 20 received scores of 2019 and 5749 points in the single-core and multi-core tests, respectively. In comparison, the Meizu 20 Pro achieved scores of 2038 and 5719 points in the single-core and multi-core tests, respectively.

Teasers have revealed the pro model will pack a 2K+ Samsung E6 AMOLED panel with a peak brightness of 1800nits and 1-120 frame LTPO adaptive refresh technology. It will pack a built-in 5000mAh battery with support for 80W charging.

Over a Dozen F-150 Lightning Trucks Recalled by Ford Due to Battery Fires

Ever since EVs started getting more popular, safety regulations have been constantly evolving in order to accommodate EV standards. The safety of EVs is an ongoing concern for automakers and regulators alike. Although the vast majority of EVs are at low risk for battery fires, these incidents can be serious when they do occur. As per recent news, Ford has issued a recall notice for 18 F-150 Lightning pickup trucks due to defective battery cells.

The issue caused at least one truck to catch fire. Production of the electric truck was paused for four weeks while Ford investigated the cause of the defect. The automobile manufacturer will restart production on Monday, March 13th, with a “clean stock” of battery packs. The affected vehicles are either on dealer lots or in customer’s hands. Ford has been in close contact with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, which is expected to publish the recall notice next week.

The “root cause” of the issue was at South Korean battery supplier SK On’s factory in Georgia, according to Ford. In a statement, spokesperson Emma Bergg said that the company was not aware of any reports of accidents or injuries related to this recall. Ford has confirmed the root cause with SK On and implemented quality actions to prevent future issues.

Battery fires, while rare, remain a serious concern for EV makers. More data is needed, but researchers have determined that the vast majority of EVs are at low risk for battery fires. However, when fires do occur, EVs with lithium-ion batteries burn hotter, faster, and require more water to extinguish. This fact has led some towns to retrain their emergency responders for when such incidents occur.

The most serious incident involving battery fires in EVs was with the Chevy Bolt. The vehicle was recalled after GM reported at least 19 battery fires due to defective cells from the supplier LG. The automaker was forced to temporarily shut down production after a software fix failed to prevent several more fires. Chevy resumed production last year after installing new battery packs.

Bottneuro has developed technology that identifies the brain area where Alzheimer occurs through 3D MRI and PET data, and conducts electric target treatment with the self-developed neurostimulator ‘Mia Mind’. The solution developed through this research will be provided to clinical patients in hospitals in Switzerland. Samsung plans to supply 100 Galaxy Tab S8+ products in June, with the number of units supplied set to increase to 2,500 by the end of this year. Featuring a stem design and silicone ear tips for improved grip and passive noise cancellation, the earbuds showcase their internal components and battery cells through a transparent section. A microphone cutout can be observed on both sides of the earbud, and the Nothing Ear (2) branding is imprinted on the stem. The charging case also boasts a semi-transparent design, with a transparent lid and a white covering that conceals its internal components.

As per the aforementioned report, the upcoming Nothing TWS earbuds will retain the 11.6mm drivers seen in the first-generation model. Each earbud will offer a claimed playback time of up to six hours with a single charge, while the charging case is expected to provide up to 36 hours of battery life. The charging case will also support fast charging and Qi wireless charging.

The Ear (2) is said to come equipped with some premium features like Hybrid ANC, which will effectively reduce background noise. Weighing at just 4.5 grams each, the Ear (2) will be lighter than its predecessor by 0.2 grams. The earbuds will also come with an IP54 rating for protection against water splashes and sweat.

There are speculations that the Nothing earbuds will allow for connecting two devices at the same time, and might also offer Personalised Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), allowing users to adjust the ANC strength to their preference. Samsung Foundry, the second-largest foundry in the world after TSMC, is set to begin mass production of chips using its third-generation 4nm process node. This comes after the company had yield issues with its 4nm chip production last year, resulting in Qualcomm moving production of its Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, and the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 to TSMC. However, Samsung has seen improvements in its yield rates, which have risen from 35% at one point last year to 60% now, as well as boosts in performance and energy-efficiency. We might get to see the new 4nm process node in Google’s Pixel 8 lineup, which is expected to release later this year.

While 3nm is the most advanced node available, Samsung’s 4nm and 5nm processes are currently being used more frequently, accounting for 22% of chips produced during the third quarter of last year compared to 16% manufactured using 6nm and 7nm process nodes. OnePlus has now announced that pre-orders for their new tablet will start on April 10, 2023. However, the process may not be straightforward as the company has hinted that they may only accept deposits for the Pad on that day. The buyer will be required to pay only a deposit for the tablet on April 10, 2023, and the remaining cost will be collected at a later time, which has not yet been specified by OnePlus.

The Redmi Note 12 series of smartphones is available in China and India. Now, the brand is gearing up to launch the Note 12 family in wider markets. The below tweet confirms that its global launch will be held at 23:00 hours (GMT +8) on March 23.

As per reports, the Redmi Note 12 series will comprise of the following devices: the Redmi Note 12 5G, Note 12 Pro 5G, and Note 12 Pro+ 5G. It appears that the global market may also receive the Redmi Note 12 4G and Redmi Note 12S, which haven’t launched in any market so far.

The Redmi Note 12S is expected to sport a design similar to last year’s Redmi Note 11S. It is likely that the new model may offer the same specs as the older model. However, instead of 33W charging, the Note 12S may support 67W fast charging.

The Redmi Note 12 4G is likely to be sold as the “Redmi Note 12” in the global market. It is expected to debut as the first-ever Snapdragon 685-powered smartphone. The device will offer other specs, such as a 6.67-inch AMOLED FHD+ 120Hz display, a 13-megapixel front camera, 50-megapixel triple rear cameras, a 5,000mAh battery with 33W fast charging, a side-facing fingerprint scanner, and MIUI 14-based Android 13.

The Redmi Note 12 5G, Note 12 Pro 5G and Note 12 Pro+ 5G heading to the global market will be the same devices that are available in China and India. While the Note 12 5G features the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset, the Pro models are equipped with the Dimensity 1080 chipset.

Redmi is also said to be working on other phones, such as Redmi A2 and Redmi A2+ for different markets. It is unclear whether these devices will also be announced on March 23.

So far, the rumor mill has leaked details about three upcoming Nord-branded phones, such as the OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite, Nord CE 3, and Nord 3. Max Jambor, a reliable source, said in a tweet that the Nord CE 3 Lite will be announced on April 4.

The OnePlus Nord 3, which is expected to debut in July, is likely to arrive as a rebranded version of the OnePlus Ace 2V, which recently debuted in China. In November 2022, OnLeaks shared the specs sheet of the OnePlus Nord CE 3. The device was found to be equipped with the Snapdragon 695 chipset.

However, a recent report revealed that the Nord CE 3 will come equipped with the Snapdragon 782G. Hence, it appears that the SD695-powered device will be arriving in the market as the Nord CE 3 Lite. While the Lite variant is expected to launch on April 4, the Nord CE 3 and Nord 3 may arrive in Q3 this year.

The device will boot to the Android 13 OS, which will be overlaid with the OxygenOS 13 UI. It will also have a side-facing fingerprint scanner and a microSD card slot. The Apple iPhone 13 lineup was first introduced in September 2021, and this is the first time the company started selling its refurbished versions in the United States. However, Apple started selling the refurbished version of this lineup in the European market earlier this year. As the 13 Mini refurbished option is being sold in Europe, we expect it to soon be available in the United States.

In the US, the company has introduced multiple color options and storage capacities for these smartphones, but the availability or stock may fluctuate as Apple sells what is available. All the refurbished iPhones come with new batteries, outer shells, and a new USB-C to Lightning cable in the box.

ZTE-backed Nubia recently announced its flagship Z-series smartphone in its home country China, dubbed Nubia Z50 Ultra, which features top-of-the-line specifications and an under-display camera.

Today, the Nubia Z50 Ultra flagship smartphone is officially available for purchase in the Chinese market, with a starting price of 3,999 yuan which roughly converts to $584.

The smartphone’s base model with 8GB RAM and 256GB storage costs 3,999 yuan (~$5824), while the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage model is priced at 4,299 yuan (~$627). The 12GB RAM and 512GB storage version is available for 4,699 yuan (~$685), and the 16GB RAM with 1TB internal storage model costs 5,999 yuan (~$874). There’s also a Star Collection Edition with 12GB RAM and 512GB storage, costing 4,999 yuan (~$729).

Coming to the specifications, the Nubia Z50 Ultra features a 6.8-inch OLED display that offers a Full HD+ screen resolution of 2480 x 1116 pixels, a refresh rate of 120Hz, a touch sampling rate of 960Hz, 1440Hz PWM dimming, peak brightness of 1500 nits, 10-bit colors, and a 100 percent DCI-P3 color gamut.

Under the hood, the device comes powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, coupled with LPDDR5x RAM and UFS 4.0 internal storage. There’s a 4212mm2 large vapor chamber liquid cooling system to keep the phone’s temperature in check when it’s under a heavy workload.

In the camera department, there’s a 35mm 64-megapixel Sony IMX787 primary camera sensor with OIS support, an 85mm 64-megapixel periscope zoom camera with OIS support, and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide camera, which also doubles up as a macro camera.

The phone’s highlight remains a custom-made 16-megapixel OmniVision OV16E1Q under-display camera with a 2.24μm super large pixel size. The company said that the light transmittance has increased by 30 percent, allowing the phone to capture better selfie shots than before.

It comes with a dual SIM card slot, 5G, Wi-Fi 802.11ax, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, an IR blaster, an X-axis linear motor, and a USB-C port. The device runs the Android 13 operating system with MyOS 13 custom interface. The phone is powered by a 5,000mAh battery with 80W fast charging support.
