A couple of weeks ago, Realme launched the GT Neo3 smartphone in the Chinese market. Multiple reports indicated that the device will launch soon in India. Now, Realme has officially teased the smartphone for the Indian market and also confirmed one of its main features.
Realme Vice President, Mr. Madhav Sheth, tweeted a short video of the Realme GT Neo3 confirming that the device will be launching soon in India. The video also confirms that the device will feature the 150W fast charging capacity which was introduced in the Chinese variant of the device.
Last month, tipster Mukul Sharma claimed that the Realme GT Neo3 will be launched in April in the Indian market. However, there is also a chance that the device might debut on June 4, which is the fourth anniversary of Realme.
Realme GT Neo3 Specifications
The Realme GT Neo3 has already launched in China so we already know all its specs and features. The smartphone sports a 6.7-inch OLED display with a Full-HD+ resolution. It has a 120Hz refresh rate and a 360Hz touch sampling rate. It has a 94.2% screen-to-body ratio and a maximum brightness of 1000 nits.
It is powered by the new 5nm MediaTek Dimensity 8100 SoC paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. It comes in two variants – a 4,500mAh battery + 150W UltraDart variant and a 5,000mAh + 80W UltraDart variant. The device has a triple camera system with 50MP IMX 766 main lens with OIS support, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 2MP macro shooter. Upfront, it has a 16MP selfie snapper.
The device has an in-display fingerprint scanner for security and boots on Android 12 OS based on Realme UI. It has VC liquid cooling under the roof and has GT Mode 3.0.
iQOO Neo6 is the company’s next smartphone due for release this month. The company has already set a date for its release and that’s April 13. But, ahead of its launch, the phone’s specs sheet has been revealed by the tipster Ishan Agarwal(via MySmartPrice).
iQOO Neo6 specifications (rumored)
The iQOO Neo6 is touted to come with a 6.62-inch punch-hole display with a Full-HD+(2400 x 1080 pixels) resolution. It will have a 120Hz screen refresh rate and a 360Hz touch sampling rate. The display will have a 396 PPI pixel density.
It will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. It will be an LPDDR5 RAM and a UFS 3.1 internal storage.
As for the optics, the device will feature a triple camera system with a 64MP main lens having an F/1.9 aperture. It will be accompanied by a 12MP ultra-wide lens with an F/2.2 aperture and lastly a 2MP portrait sensor with an F/2.4 aperture. The primary camera has Optical Image Stabilization. On the front, it has a 16MP camera for selfies and video calls.
Fueling the system will be a 4,700mAh cell with support for 80W fast charging technology. It will boot on the Android 12 OS out of the box.
Other than this, the smartphone is expected to come in Black, Blue, and Orange. The pricing and availability details are yet to be known.
New Xiaomi phones with model numbers 22041216UC and 22041216C were given the green flag recently by the company, and the duo is expected to be a part of none other than the Redmi Note 12 series.
The certification doesn’t reveal any useful information about the two devices aside from showing that both will support 5G. 5G will be enabled by high-performance MediaTek Dimensity series chips, tipster Digital Chat Station had tipped earlier. While flagship offerings from the chipmaker seem to be a stretch since the Redmi Note 12 series will be mid-range, the Dimensity 1300 or Dimensity 8000/8100 look within reach for the lineup.

Aside from this, barely anything’s known about the Redmi Note 12 series currently, but we should be seeing more info leak ahead of their launch, slated to be in the second quarter of this year.
The Redmi Note 11 Pro+ supported 120W fast charging while the Redmi Note 11 Pro supported 67W, so we should be seeing similar speeds with the Redmi Note 12 series as well.
Last year, Lu Weibing, general manager of Redmi brand, has started a new iteration strategy where two generations will be launched each year, mainly to satisfy the increasingly diversifying needs of users. He added that the series will be focusing on performance.
Realme has officially refreshed its GT series in the Indian market with the release of the Realme GT2 Pro. The smartphone comes with revamped design and has an interesting color palette.
The Realme GT2 Pro has three color variants – Paper White, Paper Green, and Steel Black. The smartphone adopts the new design language as opposed to the predecessor and has an eco-friendly textured back.
Realme GT2 Pro
The back of the smartphone is made with the use of biopolymer material. It is claimed to be the world’s first smartphone to use this material. It replicates a paper-like look making the phone’s in-hand grip better.
As per Realme, they tested hundreds of combinations and finally carved 5612 textures based on biomaterials for the smartphone. Lastly, the design was finalized in collaboration with Realme Design Studio and the Japanese designer Naoto Fukasawa.
One interesting thing about the back design is that you can use a pencil to sketch on the phone’s back. Since it is a paper-like design, you also use an eraser to rub off the sketch. Considering the eco-friendly design and the TCO 9.0 certification, Realme plans to use this material in its future GT-series phones. One thing to note is that the Steel Black doesn’t have this paper-like finish. The Steel Black GT2 Pro is made out of AG glass material that is claimed to offer a tactile metallic feel without the weight of metal. Something different from the other two colors, and it is made for those who want a metal-like feel to their device.
Other than the back design, the phone replaces the boring triple camera array from its predecessor, where the sensors are placed vertically one by one, with a new layout where the two lenses are placed one after another and the third lens offset.
This camera positioning is similar to what we see on some new phones. For instance, the Realme 9 Pro+ has a similar camera positioning. Even the newly launched OnePlus Nord CE 2 (Review) has such a type of setup with tweaked camera positioning. On the front, the phone has a regular punch-hole display with thin bezels. Nothing fancy for the front.
What do you think about the design of the Realme GT2 Pro? Do tell us in the comments below.
After debuting the device back in January in the Chinese market, Realme has now finally launched the latest Realme GT 2 Pro flagship smartphone in India.
The new device brings top-of-the-line specs like the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, a triple camera setup with two 50-megapixel Sony IMX766 sensors, and a fluid 120Hz QHD+ screen with the latest LTPO 2.0 technology. So, where can you buy this awesome new device from?
Realme has revealed that the device will be available to purchase from the Realme India website, Flipkart, and will also be available in offline stores of the authorized retail partners. The first sale will be live online on April 14 at 12 PM. As for the pricing, the brand is offering the flagship smartphone in India at Rs 49,999 (~$658) for the 8 GB RAM + 128 GB variant and Rs 57,999 (~$764) for the 12 GB RAM + 256 GB variant.
Realme GT2 Pro
Separately, Realme has also announced the release date of the vanilla Realme GT 2. The company has stated that it will be celebrating its fourth anniversary on May 4 this year. The company confirmed that the vanilla Realme GT2 would be released during its fourth anniversary in India.
Realme GT2 specifications
The Realme GT2 has a 6.62-inch AMOLED screen that offers a Full HD+ resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, an in-screen fingerprint scanner, and Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The device features a 16-megapixel selfie camera, and its back panel has a Sony IMX766 50-megapixel primary camera with OIS support, an 8-megapixel ultrawide camera, and a 2-megapixel macro snapper.
Under the hood, it has a Snapdragon 888 SoC. In India, it may come with up to 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256 GB of UFS 3.1 storage. It will boot to the Android 12 OS with Realme UI 3.0 on top. The GT2 packs a 5,000mAh battery that supports 65W fast charging.
realme today lifted the curtains on its latest flagship device in India — the realme GT 2 Pro. The phone, aside from offering the latest and greatest in smartphone tech, also goes easy on the environment (a little) thanks to its rear panel being made of an ISCC-certified biopolymer, which also feels quite like paper.
The phone’s priced at Rs 49,999 for the 8GB+128GB variant while the 12GB+256GB variant will set you back by Rs 57,999, which is pretty neat for the features you get, but can be brought down a bit through offers and discounts.
If you own an HDFC card, either debit or credit, then you can avail of an instant ₹5,000 discount on both Flipkart and realme.com. The same price cut is available with SBI credit cards as well. Purchases through EMI will land you the same offer too.
Along with the discounts, you can also grab a Google Nest Hub (2nd gen) for only Rs 4,999 (down from Rs 7,999), while the Google Nest Mini that’s currently selling for Rs 3,799 can be picked up at just Rs 1,999.
But perhaps the best part is that a realme GT 2 Pro purchase will also fetch you a realme Watch S worth Rs 4,999 for free. It isn’t clear if this offer is a limited-time affair.
The realme GT 2 Pro’s first sale has been set for April 14th, 12 PM, and you’ll be able to pick it up in Paper Green, Paper White, and Steel Black color options.
Realme announced the Realme GT2 Pro today in India. The company also announced a slew of other products such as Realme 9 4G, Realme Book Prime, Realme Buds Air 3, and Realme Smart TV Stick. At the end of the launch event, the company not only announced the vanilla Realme GT2 for the country but also revealed its release timeline.
Realme will be celebrating its fourth anniversary on May 4 this year. The company confirmed that the vanilla Realme GT2 would be released during its fourth anniversary in India. The specifications of the device are already known since the handset has already been launched in global markets and China. Like the GT2 Pro, the GT2 will sport an environment-friendly paper-inspired rear shell and will come in three colors like Steel Black, Paper Green, and Paper White.

The smartphone features a Ripple Holographic Design on the back which shows different patterns when exposed to light at an angle. The back has a rectangular camera module and housed three lenses and an LED Flash. The device is also quite slim at just 7.99mm and weighs around 178 grams.

Under the hood, the Realme 9 4G features a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 chipset paired with up to 8GB RAM of ram and 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage. Realme also offers the Dynamic Ram feature on this device letting users virtually expand the RAM capacity of the device by up to 5GB. The storage of the device can also be expanded via a Micro-SD card with the capacity maxing out at 256GB.
It boots Android 12 out of the box with the Realme UI 3.0 skin applied on top. The device houses a 5,000mAh battery with support for 33W Dart charging. Realme has claimed that it only takes 31 minutes to achieve 50% charge capacity with the 33W fast charger. The phone also has a 3.5mm headphone jack certified by Hi-res Audio promising an excellent listening experience. Connectivity options on the device include 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.
Cameras
The back panel of the Realme 9 4G features a triple camera unit headlined by the new Samsung ISOCELL HM6 108-megapixel image sensor. This new sensor comes with Samsung’s new and improved Nonapixel Plus technology combining 9 pixels into one delivering sharp details in images and improved clarity in low light conditions. The 108MP ProLight Camera on the Realme 9 4G has an f/1.75 aperture, 6P Lens, and a FOV of 83.63°.
This camera is coupled with an 8-megapixel ultrawide snapper with f/2.2 aperture and 119.9° field of view and a 2-megapixel macro camera. For selfies, it is equipped with a 16-megapixel front camera with f/2.45 aperture.

Pricing & Availability
The Realme 9 4G is priced at ₹17,999 for the 6GB + 128GB configuration and ₹18,999 for the 8GB + 128GB configuration. The brand has announced that for the first sale, the device can be had for ₹15,999 and ₹16,999 respectively while using an HDFC bank card for payment or opting for EasyEMI using an HDFC bank card.

ColorOS 12 open beta recruitment for the OPPO Reno3 5G and K7x has started in China, kicking off on April 7th and will last until April 8th. Applications will be reviewed within 5 working days following which selected applicants will get an OTA for the update after another 3 days.
OPPO K7x users need to ensure that they’re on firmware version C.08 while OPPO Reno3 5G users need to check they’re updated to firmware C.14, in order to receive the OTA. This can be done by heading over to Settings > About Phone > Version Information > Version Number.
It should be noted here that the ColorOS 12 update that will be rolled out will be a beta, meaning it’s not guaranteed to provide a stable experience. It’s true that the builds will have passed internal testing, but they’ll likely be rough around the edges, so expect bugs and abnormal power consumption. Therefore, it’s not recommended to apply for the beta unless you’re sure of what you’re doing.
OPPO also warns that since ColorOS 12 is based on Android 12, some third-party applications may run into compatibility issues — although the version has been out for months now so you should be just fine. Also recommended is backing up the data prior to the update process.
To apply for the open beta, head over to Settings > Software Update > Click the settings icon on the screen > Apply for Beta Version > Update Beta Version.
Do keep in mind that you’ll only be able to apply if you reside in China. There’s no word yet on the open beta recruitment for the global variants of these devices so you’d wanna wait a bit for that.
Late last year, realme entered the streaming device category with the launch of the realme 4K Smart Google TV Stick. A few months later, the brand has now debuted its second product in the segment at the realme GT2 Pro launch event in India. The latest streaming device by the company is officially called ‘realme Smart TV Stick’. Let’s check out how it differs from the previous model.
realme Smart TV Stick Specifications and Features
The realme Smart TV Stick looks identical to the realme 4K Smart Google TV Stick. But it comes with watered-down features.
The latest streaming stick from realme is limited to 1080p (FHD) streaming at 60fps. For comparison, the original stick can output up to 4K 60fps. Anyway, just like the old model, the new one also has support for HDR10+.
Going by the supported resolution and HDMI 1.4 connector on the new streaming device, we believe that realme is targeting consumers who want to turn their old HD/FHD non-smart televisions into smart.
Further, both the realme-branded streaming sticks are powered by the same chipset. Although the company does not tell the name, it does mention the CPU configuration. This mysterious chip has a quad-core ARM Cortex-A35 CPU. However, the latest product has only 1GB RAM compared to 2GB on the older one.
Another notable difference between the two is software. As the name suggests, the original realme TV Stick comes with the Google TV interface on top of Android TV 11 operating system. On other hand, the new model lacks Google TV UI but it does have support for all the popular streaming platforms, Chromecast Built-in, and Google Assistant.
Finally, the new streaming stick comes with a MicroUSB port for power input, dual-band WiFi, and Bluetooth 5.0.
realme Smart TV Stick Price and Availability
The realme Smart TV Stick is priced at ₹2,999 in India. In other words, it is ₹1,000 cheaper than the realme 4K Smart Google TV Stick, which retails at ₹3,999.
The streaming device will go on sale starting at 12 PM on April 13. It can be purchased from realme.com, Flipkart, and partner retail stores across the country.
Realme Book Prime laptop was first announced by the company a couple of months ago during Mobile World Congress. It is a rebranded Realme Book Enhanced Edition which was announced in January this year in China.
After the launch of Realme Book Prime in the European market, the device is finally making its way to the Indian shores. It comes in only one memory variant in India, packing 16GB of RAM and 512GB of SSD storage.
The Realme Book Prime has a similar form factor to the other laptops from the brand and a slim-bezel design. It features a 14.2-inch IPS LCD display with a 2160 x 1440 pixels screen resolution, and a 3:2 aspect ratio.
Under the hood, the device is powered by the Intel Core i5-11320H processor that has a single-core clock speed of 4.5GHz. The processor has eight threads and a cache of 8MB and is coupled with Intel Iris Xe graphics.
As for the memory options, the laptop offers 8GB and 16GB models to choose from and both of them have 512GB SSD for storage. However, in India, only the 16GB RAM model has been made available at this time. It has a dual-fan cooling system to dissipate heat during intense gaming sessions.
On the connectivity front, the Realme Book Prime has a USB-C 3.2 Gen 2 port, a USB-A 3.1 Gen 1 port, a 3.5mm headphone slot, Wi-Fi 6, and Bluetooth 5.2. It runs the Windows 11 operating system and is powered by a 54Wh battery with 65W fast charging support.
The Realme Book Prime with 16GB RAM is priced at ₹64,999 (~$857) but will be available at a discounted price of ₹57,999 (~$764). It will be available in Real Gray, Real Blue, and Real Green colors from the 13th April in India.
Realme has unveiled the Realme GT2 Pro smartphone in India. To recall, it was first announced in China earlier this year and in Europe in March. The GT2 Pro is the company’s most premium flagship phone. Some of the best features of the phone are its AMOLED screen, the latest Snapdragon 8-series chipset, the 50-megapixel triple cameras, and its attractive design.
Design and Display
Realme aims to accomplish net-zero carbon emissions in corporate operations and zero waste to landfills by 2025. In a bid to achieve its ‘Double Zero’ target, the company has launched the Realme GT2 Pro as the world’s first smartphone to use a biopolymer, which replicates the look of paper, for its entire rear shell.
Realme GT2 Pro
The front side of the device features a massive 6.7-inch QHD+ AMOLED punch-hole panel with Gorilla Glass Victus protection. The screen uses LTPO 2.0 technology and supports up to a 120Hz refresh rate. Other features of the display include 1,400 nits of brightness and 100 percent DCI-P3 color gamut.

Battery and charging
The Realme GT2 Pro packs a 5,000mAh battery, which carries support for 65W SuperDart charging. The company claims that it takes around 33 minutes for the phone to charge completely.
Connectivity and other features
When it comes to connectivity, the Realme GT2 Pro supports dual SIM connectivity with 5G support, Wi-Fi 802.11ax, Bluetooth 5.2, GPS, and a USB Type-C port. Like other premium flagship phones available in the market, the GT2 Pro lacks a 3.5mm audio jack and a microSD card. The GT2 Pro features a 9-layer liquid cooling system with a large 36,761mm2 cooling area.
The other features that are available on the device include super linear dual speakers with Dolby Atmos support, face unlock, and an in-screen fingerprint scanner. It measures 8.18mm in thickness and weighs around 189g.
Pricing and availability
Realme GT2 Pro has arrived in India in two variants, such as 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage and 12 GB RAM + 256 GB storage. These variants are priced at Rs 49,999 (~$658) and Rs 57,999 (~$764), respectively. The GT2 Pro comes in three colors such as Steel Black, Paper White, and Paper Green.
The first sale of the Realme GT2 Pro will be carried out at 12 pm (local time) on April 14 through Flipkart and Realme India’s site. Buyers will get the Realme Watch S worth Rs 4,999 (~$66) for free. The realme Buds Air 3 pack 10mm dynamic bass boost drivers that include a liquid crystal polymer diaphragm, promising clear vocals and powerful bass. The quality can be further enhanced when used in combination with Dolby sound on realme smartphones.
Another great feature is ANC that’s claimed to reduce noise by up to 42dB. It works through dual microphones — 1 feedforward and 1 feedback — and an advanced De-wind technology that reduces the sound of the wind. When not wanting to cut off the outside world, you can even switch to the transparency mode.
In terms of battery life, you get up to 30 hours of playback on normal mode with charging case, 5.5 hours without charging case, and 22 hours with ANC + charging case. The Buds Air 3 feature IPx5 water-resistance and can be paired with two devices simultaneously.
With Game Mode activated, latency can be as low as 88ms, allowing for a super-synchronized audio experience.
Sale of the realme Buds Air 3 starts at 2 PM on 7th April, 2022 and the first flash sale will also land you an additional Rs 500 discount, meaning you’ll be able to grab the earbuds for under Rs 3,499. The normal price is Rs 3,999 and color options are two — Galaxy White and Starry Blue.

DESIGN
The 4.1 channel Foxin 4040 speaker system comes with a pretty simple design. You won’t find anything fancy about these speakers, but the design is subtle, with a texture in the lower half that’s common across the five units. One thing I noticed is that the speaker’s surface is prone to scratches, so take extra care when cleaning them.
On the subwoofer, you’ll find a bunch of physical buttons for things like adjusting volume, Play/Pause, FM scanning, and changing modes. On the front, you also get an LED display that shows the volume levels and functions. The overall design is pretty uncomplicated and should blend in with your existing furniture.
Also, note that the four satellite speakers come with a wall mount.
Coming to the back, the Foxin 4040 speaker system supports RCA connectors for AUX input. You can also connect to these speakers via Bluetooth. So they can connect to your smartphone, desktop, or laptop systems. However, you’ll have a hard time getting these speakers to work with your TV. You’ll have to get an adapter that converts RCA to optical in order to achieve this.
You’ll also find a physical switch at the back to turn on the speakers. Above the physical switch, there’s a knob for adjusting the bass levels. But there’s a good chance that you’ll miss this button behind the FM Cable antenna.
It does a pretty decent job at controlling the overall bass of the system.
Finally, the speaker also comes with a remote. It has a very traditional design and the range is short (5 meters). But the remote works as you would expect and includes a button for the equalizer which switches between preset menus like pop, jazz, rock, etc.
Foxin 4040 Sound Performance
The Foxin 4040 supports Bluetooth, Aux, and FM radio modes. The speaker also features a USB-A port on the side.
As for the sound performance, the Foxin 4040 outputs pretty good sound for its price. The subwoofer does a good job of producing low-end bass. The best part about the speaker is that you can control the bass output separately using the knob at the back, and at no point will it overpower the mids or the highs.
The speaker even outputs good mids and the vocals are clear. However, the highs are a bit shrill and if there are a lot of instruments involved, the sound output can get a bit messy.
FM mode
As you can imagine, this makes the Foxin 4040 good for playing music with strong lows and mids. It was fun listening to songs like Go Down Deh, and Jalebi Baby. But when I tried a few Bollywood songs with a lot of instruments and a lot of highs, the experience wasn’t as good.
That said, if you tweak the equalizer, you should be able to squeeze out decent output even for the highs.
While watching movies or YouTube videos, the speaker produced clear vocals and decent low-end grunt, so the experience was fairly immersive.
In short, these speakers offer pretty decent low-end and mid-range output but struggle with the highs. However, I feel this kind of sound signature is acceptable. They offer a reasonably good output for the asking price.
After all, for INR 2500, the Foxin 4040 is one of the cheapest 4.1 speaker systems that you can find in the market right now. This makes it a good choice for people who are a little tight on budget.

Phone accessories and audio products manufacturer Anker is expanding its business to include the manufacture of 3D printers. The AnkerMake M5 3D printer which has just been launched on Kickstarter is Anker’s first-ever 3D printer – and it packs some exciting features with it. The AnkerMake M5 is primed to challenge the leading 3D printing brands for the top spot in the field.
Anker has a rich vein of trusted products from phone chargers to audio products. It hopes to leverage the excellent capabilities of the AnkerMake M5 to break into the 3D printing market. The AnkerMake M5 is priced at $499 as an introductory offer but the original price is $759, according to the company. Some of the innovations that come with the printer include a smart webcam that provides video and control services during the printing process. The webcam can automatically pause a print job when it observes deviation from the printing quality expected. It will also notify the user about the problem.
The AnkerMake M5 is claimed to print faster than any of the current brands in the market. Anker even claims that the printer is five times faster than any of the competing brands in the market. Anker also says that the 3D printer can easily be set up from the box and straightaway proceed to 250mm/sec printing. The implications of this fast printing model can be outstanding in the field. Most of the current 3D printers can only boast 50mm/sec speeds or less and the AnkerMake M5 could change all that.
While it is not clearly stated the mechanism that accounts for the enhanced speed of the printer, Anker points to some innovative measures that could have enhanced the printing speed. It says the Y-axis build plate is being moved by a fancy stepper motor with high subdivision drivers and two belts. In addition, advanced algorithms for a seamless process are also part of the innovations.
It is unclear how durable the AnkerMake M5 is and how the expectations will be matched by the product itself. The Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign is aimed at providing the needed investment to drive the delivery of the product. A September date has been set for the first deliveries and we hope that Anker will follow the timeline.
Samsung is one of the handfuls of smartphone companies that also develops its own processors or chips. The Exynos chips from the South Korean giant haven’t been able to match up to the offerings from Apple and Qualcomm.
Even though Samsung manufacturers chips, the company doesn’t have an exclusive lineup of processors for its own smartphones. But if the latest report is to be believed, then that is about the change soon.
As per the latest report, Samsung is planning to develop chipsets exclusively for its own smartphones. This is a major step from the South Korean giant as reports indicate the System LSI division which makes chips and the Mobile eXperience (MX) division for mobile phones do not have a very close relationship.
It is being claimed that for Samsung’s System LSI division, the MX unit of the company is just like other customers who procure chips. The mobile processors manufactured by Samsung are also used in phones from other brands, including Vivo.
The report adds that TM Roh, President and Head of Samsung MX Business said during a town hall meeting that Samsung will now make processors specifically for the Galaxy lineup of smartphones. It is also said that Samsung has internally acknowledged that its employees “have insufficient AP capabilities” and that’s not necessarily because they are lacking in talent, but also because of insufficient manpower.
Samsung has been trying to make its Exynos chips stand out from others and be on par with the premium offerings from Apple and Qualcomm. In line with that, the company switched from its Mongoose cores to ARM’s design, and the newly launched Exynos 2200 features GPU made in collaboration with AMD.
Google is returning to its pre-pandemic operations by bringing back staff to its offices in Silicon Valley. In trying to ensure a seamless transition back to its previous operations, Google has teamed up with Unagi to offer its employees free electric scooters via a program called Ride Scoot.
The Ride Scoot program will see the workers reimbursed for the full cost of a monthly subscription to Unagi’s Model One e-scooter. The Model One has a stated price of $990 and is well-suited for short commutes. The Model One is lightweight and has a dual-motor system that delivers a top speed of 34km/h and comes with a range of 26km.
The move is meant to help smoothen the transition back into the pre-pandemic work system. Google has made tremendous investments even during the pandemic period and hopes to do more as companies start returning to their lives. It however remains to be seen how the employees react to the new incentive.
The subscription will amount to $50 every month for the Unagi Model One. The subscription also bundles maintenance and insurance fees. Unagi will set up booths at the various Google offices to sign up employees at a discounted rate of $44.10 per month together with the $50 enrolment fee. There are elaborate plans in place to test run the program and ensure that users use the e-scooter at least nine times a month to guarantee reimbursement by Google.
