POCO held a launch event today to announce the POCO X3 GT smartphone. Soon after the launch, POCO India Director Anuj Sharma took to Twitter to confirm that the POCO X3 GT will not be launching in India.

Samsung One UI 4.0 beta based on Android 12 could release in August

Google is expected to release Android 12 stable by September. Partner OEMs should announce the new version of their skin based on the latest Android at around the same time. Hence, it’s surprising to learn that One UI 4.0 beta based on Android 12 will be available for the Galaxy S21 series in August itself.

Samsung One UI Logo Featured

Samsung is the only major Android smartphone maker that does not take part in the official Android Beta initiative. Instead, the company runs its own program a month or two after the stable release of the latest Android version.

As per an official announcement (via PiunikaWeb) on the Samsung Members community forum, the South Korean tech giant will be soon rolling out the One UI 4.0 Beta based on Android 12 for the Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21+, and Galaxy S21 Ultra very soon. Unfortunately, the post does not mention the timeline for the release.

However, a tipster who goes by the name of Chun on Twitter knows when the Android beta builds for the Galaxy S21 series will be available. According to him, the One UI 4.0 beta for the latest-gen Galaxy S models will be released in August itself.

If this happens to be true, then Samsung will be kickstarting the beta program for its Android software before the stable release by Google for the first time. As a result, Android 12 (One UI 4.0) stable is said to arrive for the Galaxy 21 series as early as November, which will be a month ahead of last year.

Last but not least, Chun says that One UI 4.0 will adopt Android 12 Material UI. The OS will come with optimizations for Snapdragon 888/Exynos 2100 chipsets and a revamped Samsung Notes app as more devices are expected to support S Pen.

Windows 11 is already running on about 1% of PCs: Report

A new report has revealed that Microsoft’s latest version of Windows has already been installed in a number of PCs. As per the survey, the Windows 11 platform is currently running on about 1 percent of PCs.

Windows 11

The news arrives from AdDuplex, who shared the information is its latest Windows usage report that now also includes Windows 11. Furthermore, the data is based on information collected from about 5,000 applications that use AdDuplex SDK version 2 or higher. It was also collected on 26th July 2021, with the company noting that there were a total of 60,000 PCs that were surveyed.

At the moment, the latest Windows operating system version is being run on 0.9 percent of the PCs that were surveyed by AdDuplex. The report also added that there are still 0.2 percent of systems running the Insider version of Windows 10 OS, which could possibly be the 21H2 build. The figure is really small due to the very limited availability of the 21H2 build. The only way to be in on this version is to be kicked off of the Beta channel for not meeting Windows 11 system requirements. Meaning, you can’t even choose to get this version.

Windows 11

AdDuplex also noted regarding on how quickly newer versions of Windows was being installed. The last Windows usage report arrived back in April and had found that the Windows 10 version 2004 was still the most popular version of the operating system. Notably, the system requirements have also been raised significantly with Windows 11. Now, fewer PCs will be able to upgrade to the latest version.

Apple patents under display camera tech for Touch ID and Face ID

Apple has been rumored to be planning on launching the iPhone 14 with a full screen front body, with no notches. Now, the company has just been awarded a new patent for under display cameras for Touch ID and Face ID.

Apple

The Cupertino based giant had filed the patent with the USPTO, which was regarding camera sensors being embedded under the display. The patent also describes that these sensors will be used for biometric authetication systems, namely Touch ID and Face ID. Apple stated that the current iPhone design has the image sensors be placed next to the display with the notch. But, future generations will arrive with these cameras being housed underneath the display.

The iPhone maker added that this system can be used for both Face ID and Touch ID. Although, employing both security systems together might please more customers. Notably, we had recently also reported on the company reportedly planning on bringing Face ID to its Macs as well within the next couple of years. The earlier iterations of the under screen solution had faced a lot of issues like degraded quality, however, improved versions have made it to the commercial market in certain smartphones.

Apple

Keep in mind that this is still just a patent and we have no way of confirming if the brand is actually working on such a system or is simply covering all bases. If it is being developed, we can expect it to make its way to multiple Apple products like MacBooks and iPads, apart from just the iPhones.

Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 live image leaked, design resembles Apple iPad Pro

The Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 has just been spotted in a new leak. The tablet’s real life image has just surfaced online, with its design resembling the iPad Pro from Apple, while another report has revealed that the device will launch with MIUI 12.5 out of the box.

Xiaomi

The real life image was shared by SlashLeaks who took it from a Weibo blogger, a Chinese microblogging website. This image is reportedly for the Mi Pad 5 and offers us a glimpse at its rear panel. The tablet appears to be quite thin, with its camera system being similar to the iPad Pro’s square module on the back. It even sports the official “Xiaomi” brand logo as well.

Assuming that the image is not simply of a back cover for the upcoming tablet, the Mi Pad 5 appears to be sleek and premium. Although, it does look quite similar to the iPad Pro from the Cupertino based giant. In other words, we can expect the Chinese tech giant to target the high end Android tablet market with this new tablet. Keep in mind that this is still an unconfirmed leak at the moment, so take it with a pinch of salt.

Xiaomi

Notably, a known tipster on Weibo, @数码闲聊站, also stated that the Mi Pad 5 will launch with MIUI 12.5 out of the box instead of MIUI 13 custom skin. Furthermore, this is not limited to the tablet alone as the blogger believes that the Mi MIX 4 will also arrive with MIUI 12.5, which is unlike certain previous rumors.
