Huawei is prepared to launch the next-generation Mate-series smartphones, which includes Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro and Mate 20 Lite. Now, the Huawei Mate 20 Lite is available for purchase in Poland, which is the most affordable variant of the three.
The smartphone comes with a bigger 6.3-inch Full-HD+ display with 2340 x 1080 pixels screen resolution and 19.5:9 aspect ratio, offering a pixel density of 409ppi. This time, the company has opted to offer a notched display, resulting in a higher screen-to-body ratio of 81 percent, compared to the 76.5 percent in its predecessor.
Under the hood, the device is powered by the company’s own Kirin 710 chipset, which was recently launched. It is Huawei’s first 12nm chipset which should offer a significant improvement in power consumption and performance compared to the 16nm Kirin 659. The chipset consists of four Cortex-A73 cores clocked at 2.2GHz and four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.7GHz. The GPU is an ARM Mali G5 which is said to be 1.3 times better than that of the Kirin 659 and 1x more energy efficient.
The processor is coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage, just like the Mate 10 Lite. Previous reports suggested the 6GB RAM variant as well, which could be available in other regions. We’re also expecting a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 256GB.
The Mate 20 Lite comes with upgraded camera configuration. On the back side, the phone features a dual camera sensor — 20-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor, placed vertically in the top-center position. There’s a dual-camera setup on the front side too, having a 24-megapixel primary snapper and a 2-megapixel secondary shooter. It also supports Face Unlock feature.
The phone also comes with a fingerprint sensor placed just below the camera module on the back side. Coming to the connectivity, the Dual SIM phone now comes with NFC support. The company has also replaced the micro USB port with the USB Type-C port. Further, it now comes with support for dual-band Wi-Fi — 2.4GHz and 5GHz.
In terms of software, the phone is running on Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out of the box with the company’s own EMUI 8.2. It also comes with the GPU Turbo, which enhances the phone’s performance. The phone is fuelled by a 3,750mAh battery and support fast charging technology.
The Huawei Mate 20 Lite will be available in three color options — Black, Gold, and Blue. It is now available for purchase in Poland for starting price of PLN 1,599, which roughly converts to $436. In Poland, the company is also bundling the Huawei AH100 Smart Scale for free (worth ~$41) along with the purchase of Mate 20 Lite.
The Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro is scheduled to launch in London on 16th October. Both the smartphone have been confirmed to run Android Pie operating system out-of-the-box.
The Meizu M816Q is an upcoming device from Meizu rumored to be the upcoming Meizu X8 but it appears it is a different device. Images of the phone have been spotted on TENAA and after taking a look at them, we discovered they do not match the description of the Meizu X8.
There are rumors the Meizu X8 will have a notch. It is expected to be Meizu’s first phone sporting the mobile industry’s new trend. However, the Meizu M816Q doesn’t have a notch.
[envira-gallery id=”208199″]
The original TENAA images are much darker so we had to brighten the photos. As you can see, the phone doesn’t have a notch but it does have thin bezels and the overall design (of the front) is similar to that of the Meizu 16th.
While one may say it is the Meizu 16X based on the similar design, it isn’t since Meizu’s CEO has confirmed that the 16X will come with the same cameras as the Meizu 16th. This device has a single rear camera unlike the Meizu 16 which has dual rear cameras.
All of the above are just physical differences. The main reason why this isn’t the Meizu 8X or 16X boils down to the model number. We did some digging here and found a pattern in the model numbers of Meizu phones.
The first figure after the alphabet is usually the same for that year. So all Meizu phones released in 2017 have model numbers M7xxX and those released in 2018 have model numbers M8xxX.
Our focus shifts to the next two digits. Meizu phones with the last two digits between 10 and 30 are low-end phones, those with model numbers between 50 and 79 are mid-range phones (Meizu 15 Lite = Meizu M871Q) while those with figures between 80 and above are high-end phones (Meizu 15 = Meizu M881M).
Last week, Xiaomi’s sub-brand POCO launched its first smartphone in the Indian market — POCO F1, which is touted to be the cheapest Snapdragon 845-powered phone. Now, the company, which is named Pocophone globally, has launched the Pocophone F1 in Indonesia and Hong Kong.

The customized MIUI that is based on Android 8.1 Oreo has been optimized to launch popular apps quickly, smoothly run apps in the foreground and offer fluid gesture-based navigation.
There’s an IR scanner that enables Face Unlock feature. The Pocophone F1 is powered by a 4,000mAh battery that also carries support for Quick Charge 3.0 fast charging technology. According to the company, it offers 8 hours of gaming, around 6 hours of Full-HD video playback, nearly 31 hours of talk time and standby time of 15 days.
While Indonesia and Hong Kong gets only the 6GB RAM variant, the Poco F1 also has an 8GB RAM and 256GB storage model in India. The Armored Edition of Poco F1 in India also carries 8GB RAM.
Lenovo-owned Motorola has recently announced the Motorola P30 smartphone in China. The Chinese manufacturer is expected to launch two other P-series phones such as P30 Note and P30 Play. An Indian publication has shared the specifications and press renders of the upcoming Motorola One Power smartphone.
Motorola One Power Specs and Features
The below shown render of the Motorola One Power show that it will be arriving with a unibody design. However, it is yet to be confirmed whether it will be featuring a polycarbonate or metallic chassis. With P2i nano-coating onboard, the Motorola One Power is a liquid repellent device.
The leaked specs sheet of the Motorola One Power shows that it is equipped with a 6.18-inch screen that produces Full HD+ resolution and aspect ratio of 19:9. The handset offers a screen-to-body ratio of 81 percent.
The Snapdragon 636 chipset that includes 1.8 GHz octa-core processor is present under the hood of the smartphone. The 5,000mAh battery carries support for 15W fast charging through USB-C.
For photography, the handset is fitted with an LED enabled dual camera setup that includes 16-megapixel primary sensor with a pixel size of 1.12micron and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor. It is fitted with a 12-megapixel front-facing camera with 1.25micron. The rear-mounted and front-facing cameras are both equipped with LED flash. The front camera doubles up as face unlock feature.
The software of the Motorola One Power has not appeared in this leak. However, the handset could be an Android One device running on stock version of Android 8.1 Oreo. The other features of the smartphone include rear-mounted fingerprint scanner and 3.5mm audio jack.
As of this writing, there is no confirmation on the launch date and pricing of Motorola One Power. However, it seems that its launch will not be far away, and it could be priced competitively to take on the likes of Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro and Nokia 6.1 Plus. Xiaomi first announced the new MIUI 10 Custom ROM during the Mi 8 launch conference held on May 31. In essence, the new ROM comes pre-installed on the Mi 8, Mi 8 SE and Mi 8 Explorer edition. Since then, the new Custom ROM has been rolled out to a number of eligible Xiaomi models but the ROM in question is the beta ROM. The first batch of beta ROM was released on June 19 and since then three batches have been released covering a total of 37 Xiaomi models. The Global beta was also made available recently for up to twenty different models.
Xiaomi has now started the rollout of the MIUI 10 China stable ROM and the 2017 flagship Mi 6 is the first to receive the OTA upgrade. The new upgrade includes Google August 1 security patch and the entire update package is about 589MB. Users of the Xiaomi Mi 6 in China may not be able to access the update just yet as it is a Stable beta ROM. Thus, the OTA update is being pushed randomly to select Mi 6 users. We expect the full rollout to happen in a short while.
As would be recalled, MIUI 10 is based on Android 8.0 Oreo and it has as its biggest upgrade the AI technology. The AI technology on MIUI 10 brings deep learning and thus reduces the loading time of apps by studying your app usage behaviour and anticipating actions. Another advantage is that MIUI 10 brings single camera bokeh mode to old Xiaomi smartphones including Xiaomi Mi 5 and Xiaomi Mi Note 2. The custom ROM also comes with a new driving mode, smart home gadgets manager and other features in addition to the existing features of MIUI 9. If you want to know more about the features of the new Custom ROM, read our MIUI 10 release article.

The US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has recently published a patent application by Motorola. The patent documents reveal that the Lenovo-owned firm may release foldable screen equipped new foldable flip phone that looks like the Motorola RAZR handset from the yesteryear.
The patent documents show that the foldable flip phone is equipped with a single large display panel is placed on its inner side. The hinge that is required for folding the flip phone is placed under the display. Hence, the phone seems to be equipped with a flexible screen.

The phone is equipped with optional flex sensor that will be controlled by the application processor that will the phone to detect whether the phone is folded or unfolded.
Motorola Mobility LLC from Chicago had filed a patent for the above design in May 2017 and it was published couple of days ago. Even though the company has been granted permission for new flip phone design, it does not mean could be really planning to launch such a smartphone. Samsung and Huawei are expected to launch smartphones with flexible displays at the beginning of the next year. It is likely that other phone manufacturers may debut flexible display phones in 2019.
Motorola RAZR has been one of the most successful phones from the company in the past decade. Google won’t announce the Pixel 3 XL until October but when it does, the only thing we won’t already know by then will be the price. Over the past few weeks, the Pixel 3 XL has leaked in various forms from live shots to full unboxing videos and even camera comparisons with the SamsungGalaxy Note9 and HuaweiP20 Pro. Now, a new unboxing video has surfaced online and it is a higher quality than the one that leaked weeks ago.
The video was posted by Russsian YouTube channel In Digi. The Pixel 3 XL comes in a white box devoid of any Pixel or Google branding. The version in the box is pure white with black front bezels.
Included in the box is a pair of wired earphones which have the same design as the wireless Pixel Earbuds from last year. There is a USB-C charging/data cable, a 3.5mm to USB-C cable, and a USB-A to USB-C dongle all in white included in the box. There is also a charging adapter in the box.
The Pixel 3 XL has a thick lower bezel which is home to one of the front-stereo stereo facing speakers. There are no bezels on the sides and at the top, but there is a large tub-like notch which houses the second speaker and two front-facing cameras.
Just like the Panda White GooglePixel 2 XL, the Pure White Pixel 3 XL has a colored power button but instead of orange like its predecessor’s, it is mint green. The volume rocker is also on the right directly below the power button.
Google hasn’t really changed the design on the back. The main change is that the whole of the back is now covered in glass, not just the top part where the camera and LED flash are located. This shouldn’t be surprising since the Pixel 3 XL supports wireless charging. However, the camera half has a different shade of white to give the phone that two-tone finish.
As we can see in the rest of the video, the Pixel 3 XL is big, and unless you have really large hands, using this device with one hand for more than a few minutes doesn’t look comfortable. The video also confirms the Google Pixel 3 XL is running Android 9 Pie out of the box and also shows off the camera prowess.

HMD Global, the company behind the new Nokia smartphones, has now got the “PureView” trademark back from Microsoft. According to the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) listing, the trademark ownership has now been transferred from Microsoft to HMD Global on August 23.
PureView debuted in the year 2012, when Nokia presented to the world the Nokia 808 PureView at Mobile World Congress 2012, a camera monster at that time, and still the phone with the biggest image sensor in the history of the mobile industry. Later, the PureView branding was applied to the Lumia 920, 1020, 1520, and later the Microsoft Lumia 950.
With ‘PureView’ now in the hands of HMD Global, we could see a Nokia smartphone with PureView branding in the near future. The Finnish company could also adopt PureView for the upcoming Nokia 9 flagship smartphone, but that’s just a speculation. There’s no official communication from the company regarding the usage of the PureView trademark.
Along with the PureView trademark, the company has also registered a new trademark for “Dual Sight” which we assume is for the Bothie feature of Nokia smartphones which enables users to take images from the rear as well as the front-facing camera at the same time.
HMD Global also owns a few other brands that Nokia had earlier introduced, including Asha and Xpress-On. The company has not used the Asha brand and the Xpress-On brand has been used only for the interchangeable back cover for Nokia 1 phone. Point being, HMD owning the PureView brand doesn’t necessarily mean that we’ll see it in the near future on a mobile device.
We recently heard some speculation that HMD could use Light’s Penta-lens camera setup on its mobile devices, and maybe the PureView brand will debut with that Penta-lens device. PureView was about the best camera performance and if HMD Global decides to use the PureView brand, the company needs to make sure the phone features the best camera experience.
OPPO has recently introduced the OPPO R17 and OPPO R17 Pro smartphones. These phones are equipped with waterdrop notch screens that are shielded by Corning Gorillas Glass 6. Compared to R17, the R17 Pro is an advanced smartphone that features a triple camera unit with 3D ToF (Time-of-Flight) sensing technology. It is also equipped with Super VOOC fast charging that was only available on the OPPO Find X that was unveiled in June. Since China-based BBK Electronics is the parent firm of OnePlus, OPPO and Vivo, it is very likely that the upcoming OnePlus 6T may borrow features like 3D sensing technology, ultra-fast charging and in-display fingerprint scanner from the R17 Pro.
The R17 Pro’s triple camera unit includes 12-megapixel main camera with f/1.5 – f/2.4 variable aperture + 20-megpixel secondary sensor and 3D ToF sensing technology. This tech is different from the 3D structured light module that is used for 3D facial recognition on the Apple iPhone X and Oppo Find X. On the other side, the 3D ToF camera can be used for gesture recognition and Augmented Reality cases such as virtual fitting of clothes or virtually checking how a furniture will appear at home. Chinese tipsters are now claiming that the upcoming OnePlus 6T could be also equipped with 3D ToF sensing technology.
There is a possibility that the OnePlus 6T will be equipped with a 6.4-inch OLED screen with waterdrop notch display design like the OPPO R17 Pro. It could be protected by Gorilla Glass 6 layer.
Also, the OnePlus 6T could be the first OnePlus smartphone to feature an in-display fingerprint scanner. The Super VOOC charging available on the R17 Pro offers 50W fast charging that can gain 40 percent battery power by charging it for only 10 minutes. The other feature that OP6T may borrow from the R17 Pro is variable camera aperture for the for its main lens in the dual camera setup.
OnePlus 6T has recently received certification from the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) that has confirmed its existence. Since the OPPO R17 Pro is a China-exclusive phone, it is unlikely to arrive in Western markets where OnePlus smartphones are targeted. The OP6T could be the first OnePlus phone to land through a carrier in the U.S. The handset could be available through T-Mobile in the country. As far as pricing is concerned, it is speculated that it could cost around $550.
