Xiaomi is heavily rumored to launch a device under-display fingerprint scanner. Recent reports have revealed that the Mi 8 will be coming with a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. The Mi 8 SE is likely to arrive as a cheaper device than Mi 8 and it may be priced around 2,000 Yuan (~$310). Hence, it appears that the Mi 8 SE may not feature an in-screen fingerprint scanner.

Since Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has himself hinted that the forthcoming flagship features under-display fingerprint scanner, there is a possibility that there could be a more powerful and costlier edition of Mi 8 that may come with the advanced fingerprint scanning technology. Mystery surrounding the Mi 8 duo will be revealed through tomorrow’s event that will also serve as a platform for other products like Mi Band 3 and MIUI 10.

Motorola One Power Leaked Photo Reveals Notched Display Design, Vertical Dual Cameras Like iPhone X

An official render of the unannounced Motorola One Power smartphone has surfaced today. The image of the device reveals that it will be yet another Android smartphone that will be borrowing notched display and vertical dual camera design from the iPhone X. According to Android Headlines, the Motorola One Power will be hitting the market as Android One smartphone.

As it can be seen in the image below, the official render does not contain “moto” branding. This indicates that the Motorola branding may finally return after a long break.

Motorola-One-Power-leak-00

Like the Moto X4 Android One smartphone from last year, it will be an Android One device that will enjoy faster software updates. Also, it could be the first Android One smartphone to arrive in the U.S. The handset is also likely to release in other markets.

There is no information available on the specifications of the Motorola One Power smartphone. However, its leaked photo reveals that its has a notched display design. Compared to other Android devices that have adopted the notched design from the iPhone X, the Motorola One Power seems to be featuring a wider notch. The bezel lying below the display has the “motorola” branding.

Moto X5 Leaked Render
Moto X5 leaked render that surfaced in January 2018

At the beginning of this year, the rumor mill had revealed that Lenovo will be launching Moto X5 smartphone with iPhone X-like notched screen this year as a successor for the Moto X4 smartphone. However, reports that appeared in the past few months have suggested that Lenovo has no plans to release the Moto X5.  Could this be because the Moto X5 might be rebranded as Motorola One Power? The publication claims that it may not be the case as there are some differences in the design of One Power and the leaked Moto X5. The main difference is that the Moto X5 was rumored to arrive with round-shaped camera module with horizontally arranged dual camera setup while the One Power has vertical dual rear cameras. Hence, the two phones seem to be unrelated.

Xiaomi Releases A Video For Its 8th-year Anniversary Teasing the Products In Its Arsenal

Last year Xiaomi celebrated its seventh year anniversary in a grand style with all the seven founders coming together to reminisce about the successful journey. This year’s 8th-anniversary celebration promises to be even bigger. Indeed the last one year has been a successful one for the Chinese tech giant who emerged among the top 5 global smartphone vendors in terms of market shares. Xiaomi will be rolling out the drums in a much-anticipated ceremony holding on May 31 in Shenzhen, China where a number of products will be launched.

Xiaomi released a teaser video on Tuesday which captures the company’s journey as far as products launched are concerned. The video takes us through a slide, revealing products like the 90 Minutes suitcase, LED bulb, smart lock, refrigerator, camera, bread toaster, and even what looks like the electric wine opener. The video at the tail end teases the Mi 8 annual flagship which would be dropping in two days time.

The Mi 8 has been pretty regular in leaks and teasers so the design and features are almost in the open. The device is expected to pack a 6.2-inch screen with a notch, Snapdragon 845 chipset, up to 8GB of RAM, dual 20MP f/1.7 and 16MP f/2.0 camera, front-facing 16MP f/2.0 camera, a 3,300mAh battery, its own Face ID and its own animoji. We find it curious that the video refers to the Mi 8 as Xiaomi’s annual flagship. This props up the suggestion that the Mi 8 SE may be launched as the special anniversary edition. The Mi 8 SE is expected to come with a Snapdragon 710 chipset which means it isn’t a flagship.

Xiaomi Mi 8 SE To Pack Snapdragon 710 SoC And AI Dual Cameras

Xiaomi is all set to launch its flagship smartphone Xiaomi Mi 8 at a launch event in China on 31st May. Along with Mi 8, the company is also set to launch its next-gen OS MIUI 10 as well as fitness tracker Mi Band 3. Further, reports indicate that Xiaomi will also launch Mi 8 SE, the lower-end variant of its upcoming flagship smartphone.

Now, an image of the Mi 8 SE’s key features has surfaced online through Weibo. It reveals that the smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm‘s recently announced Snapdragon 710 AIE processor. If this turns out to be true, then the Mi 8 SE will be the first smartphone to be powered by Snapdragon 710 SoC.

Xiaomi Mi 8 SE Specs Leak

The newly launched Snapdragon 710 mobile platform is a 10nm chipset that includes two cores of Kryo 360 Cortex A75 that clocks at 2.2 GHz and six cores of Kryo 360 Cortex A55 that offers a processing speed of 1.7 GHz. The octa-core processor is coupled with Adreno 616 graphics that promises 35 percent better rendering of graphics.

The leaked image also suggests that the Mi 8 SE will come equipped with AI-powered dual cameras at the back with 1.4μm pixel size and a 20-megapixel front-facing camera with selfie light.

The flagship Mi 8 is expected to come with an under-display fingerprint sensor. But given that the Mi 8 SE seems like a low-cost variant of the Mi 8, we expect the smartphone to come with the traditional fingerprint sensor at the back of the phone instead of the in-display sensor. It is also unclear if the smartphone will come with Face Unlock feature or not.

The leaked image hints at a notched display on the Mi 8 SE, similar to the one that is expected for the company’s flagship smartphone. The previous report indicates that the Mi 8 SE could come in storage editions — 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB with all the three models packing 6GB of RAM.

The Xiaomi Mi 8 is rumored to become the first Android smartphone with 3D facial recognition feature. The smartphone is expected to come with a 6.2-inch notched enabled OLED display, up to 6 GB of RAM, and 64 GB of internal storage. Powered by 3,300mAh battery, the device is expected to be available in Grey, Gold, Blue, and Red colors.

The Nokia 3 and Nokia 5 also got new versions at the Nokia Moscow event. Both phones which will go buy the Nokia 3.1 and Nokia 5.1 monikers come with 18:9 displays.

Nokia 3.1

Nokia 3.1

The Nokia 3.1 comes with a bigger 5.2-inch screen but is just a tad taller than its predecessor thanks to its reduced bezel and 18:9 display screen ratio. The device should be smaller but the lower bezel doesn’t seem to have been cut at all.

The 5.2-inch screen has a 1440 x 720 resolution and is covered with Gorilla Glass. There is a MediaTek MT6750N processor clocked at 1.5GHz under the hood. It is paired with 2GB/3GB of RAM and 16GB/32GB of expandable storage.

The Nokia 3.1 has a 13MP f/2.0 rear camera and an 8MP f/2.0 front-facing camera with an 84.6° field of view. For connectivity, there is Bluetooth 5.0, dual-band Wi-Fi, GPS, a USB-C port, and a 3.5mm audio jack. The phone also comes with a 2990mAh battery.

Nokia 3.1 Color variants

Unlike the first-gen Nokia 3, the Nokia 3.1 launches under the Android One program. This shouldn’t be surprising as HMD Global already announced following the launch of the Nokia 8 Sirocco that future Nokia phones will be Android One phones.

The Nokia 3.1 will come in Blue Copper, Black Chrome, and White Iron. It will sell for €139 and €169 for the 2GB and 3GB variants respectively and goes on sale this month.

Nokia 5.1

Nokia 5.1

The Nokia 5.1 comes with a 5.5-inch screen with a Full HD+ resolution. It measures 151.1 x 70.73 x 8.27 mm making it just a tiny bit taller than the first-gen model.

Powering the Nokia 5.1 is a MediaTek MT6755S octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz. Depending on the model, you either get 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage or 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. There is storage expansion available.

A 16MP sensor with PDAF sits at the back of the device and an 8MP camera is positioned above the display. The new aspect ratio has resulted in Nokia moving the fingerprint scanner to the back of the device. It now sits below the camera setup.

The Nokia 5.1 has a 3000mAh battery, a USB-C port, and a single speaker. It also runs the latest version of Android Oreo out of the box. Just like the Nokia 2.1 and Nokia 3.1, the Nokia 5.1 is also an Android One phone.

Xiaomi Mi 6X Will Get A New Variant Tomorrow; Likely A Cheaper Version

Xiaomi went official with the Mi 6X in China on April 25 and the device has been on sale since then. While we await the global launch of the device which is believed to adopt the name Mi A2, the tech giant has announced that a new variant will be joining the fray tomorrow (April 30).Xiaomi Mi 6X

The Mi 6X launch was a no holds barred launch so we don’t expect to see a variant with a new design or different hardware. The poster shows that the device still packs a Snapdragon 660 AIE chipset as well as a 20MP selfie camera plus a 20MP main sensor at the rear. However, the new variant is suspected to be a new storage variant. The Mi 6X was announced with three variants 4GB+64GB, 6GB+64GB, and 6GB+128GB. Now, the new variant is likely a 4GB RAM + 32GB storage version with the attendant lower price tag. Xiaomi Mi 6X

The first of the new Nokia phones from HMD Global is the Nokia 2.1 or Nokia 2 (2018). The new Nokia 2.1 moves from being a regular device to joining the Nokia 1 as an Android Go phone.

The phone has gotten a redesign and now looks more premium. Just like the Nokia 6.1, the Nokia 2.1 has that copper colored metal line that runs around the frame of the phone.

Nokia 2.1

Nokia 2.1 Specs

The Nokia 2.1 comes with a larger 5.5-inch screen but keeps the resolution at 720p. Above and beneath the display are front-facing stereo speakers for an impressive audio experience. The display is covered with an anti-fingerprint coating.

Check Out The Google Pixel 3 & Pixel 3 XL Renders Based on Leaked Details

Google is obviously working on the next-gen Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL. Both models are expected to launch in a couple of months from now but we recently spotted the tempered glass screen for both the Pixel 3 and 3 XL. This is in addition to a few renders of the models which were created by fans. Phonearena has now joined the fray of creators of Pixel3 and Pixel 3 XL renders with its ten cents. The U.S blog issued a disclaimer that the renders were “based on preliminary information about the respective device(s), such as, but not limited to, factory CAD blueprints and live photos of the device(s), or accessories thereof. As such, the images found herein may not be fully representative of the final design of the device(s) “.Google Pixel 3

Now, lets closely analyse the renders which only capture the front designs of both models. The design seems to have been crafted from the leaked tempered glass protectors which hinted at where the sensors and front camera will be located. If we are to go by these designs, it means the Pixel 3 XL will feature a notch on its display, while the smaller model will have proper top and bottom bezels but trimmed down when compared with that of the Pixel 2. Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL tempered glass

The models are also going to pack front stereo speakers if the renders are to be believed. Unfortunately, we still can’t tell if the Pixel 3 or Pixel 3 XL will finally join the dual camera trend sweeping through the industry since the rear design is still unknown. However, the Pixel 3 and 3 XL renders seem to suggest the presence of dual selfie shooters. Since the renders are based on the tempered glass protector which leaked on China’s Weibo, it could as well be fake. So, take this with a pinch of salt.

Design

Aesthetics have always been the strong point of Honor flagships and this doesn’t change with the Honor 10. It comes with a stunning reflective glass back which is also available in gradient colors. OnePlus 6 has a glass back as well and it is very elegant, but it is not as attractive and unique as the one of Honor 10. But on the other hand, note that OP6 has some sort of protection which makes it splash resistant, so we can define it as a flagship with a better build quality. If we had to choose a device by basing on the aesthetics, we would pick Honor 10 for its original design and its smaller dimensions.

Display

OnePlus 6 definitely has a more interesting display than its opponent. It sports an Optic AMOLED panel with sRGB and DCI-P3 support, with a higher size (6.28 inches) and also Gorilla Glass 5 protection. This display is able to show stunning color and very deep blacks. Honor 10 has just a classic IPS FHD+ display and there is nothing special in terms of viewing quality. So we prefer OnePlus 6 for multimedia and viewing quality.

Hardware/Software

We still didn’t have the chance to test it thoroughly, but we believe that OnePlus 6 will not only provide better performance than the Honor 10, but it will also be one of the fastest and smoothest smartphones in the market. It comes with a higher-end SoC and up to 8 GB RAM and, even though Honor 10 has flagship-level components too, there should be a noticeable difference in performance, at least in the most demanding scenarios such as gaming and multi-tasking. Thanks to EMUI, Honor 10 has more features on the software side and it is more comfortable to use. But OnePlus 6 wins when it comes to hardware and performance.

Camera

Both OnePlus and Huawei made huge steps forward at improving the cameras of its flagships. These handsets can capture stunning photos and awesome videos, with a high level of detail even in less suitable conditions. We are going to prefer OnePlus 6 as it sports OIS and it can record 4K videos at 60 fps, but Honor 10 remains an amazing camera phone for both normal photos and selfies thanks to its 24 MP front snapper.

Battery

OnePlus 6 and Honor 10 have a 3300 mAh and a 3400 mAh battery, respectively. Both the batteries can last one day of normal use and the difference in battery life between them is not very noticeable. Both are well-optimized, but due to its AMOLED display, OnePlus 6 should last a bit more in several scenarios.

Price

Prices depend on the region. There are zones in which OnePlus 6 is much more expensive than Honor 10 and zones such as India where there is just a $20 difference (Rs. 32999). In the global market, Honor 10 has been launched for just €399/$467, while OnePlus 6 starts from €519/$529 (Rs. 34999 in India). OnePlus 6 wins the battle, so we would get it if we find these two handsets at around the same price like in India, but Honor 10 has a higher value for money in the global market.

Which one would you pick?
