HMD Global Is Bringing Back The Nokia X, Launches April 27

Do you remember the Nokia X? It was Nokia’s first Android smartphone that never felt like an Android phone. I’m sure Nokia doesn’t want you to remember because it was pretty much a failure. HMD Global, on the other hand, wants to bring it back on April 27.

Yes, photos have revealed that HMD Global has a launch scheduled for April 27 in China and the device is called the Nokia X. The photos show digital signposts that have silhouettes of two phones crossed against each other to form an X and the date of the launch- 27th of April.

Nokia X digital poster

The few details we can make out of the image is that the phone has a 2.5D curved display and a metal back. The metal body is also curved at the corners.

The upcoming Nokia X is a big surprise as no-one seems to have heard of it before now. We can’t say if it will be a mid-range phone or a flagship device. Nevertheless, we believe HMD Global will want to keep a tight lip until the launch day.

Geekbench Reveals Moto G6 Plus is Powered by Snapdragon 660 SoC

The sixth-generation Moto G series is set to launch on April 19. This year we will be getting three devices – the Moto G6 Play, the Moto G6, and the Moto G6 Plus. The Moto G6 Plus which is the most powerful of the three has been seen on Geekbench and it reveals a few specification details.

The device was benchmarked earlier today. It runs Android 8.0 Oreo, has 4GB of RAM, and is powered by the Snapdragon 660 (sdm660) processor.

Moto G6 Plus Geekbench

If you have been paying attention to news of the Moto G6 Plus, then you may have read that it is powered by a Snapdragon 630 processor. But Geekbench says it is a Snapdragon 660 chipset, so what could be going on?

Don’t be confused. The Moto G6 Plus actually has a Snapdragon 630 processor and not SD 660 as shown in the benchmark results.

Back in 2017, when the HTC U11 Life was about to be released, Geekbench results showed that it was powered by a Snapdragon 660 processor. However, Roland Quandt said it is actually a Snapdragon 630 and that the benchmark site wrongly identifies it as a Snapdragon 660. When the phone did launch, it came with a Snapdragon 630 processor on board.

This is the same thing happening now. The Moto G6 Plus will launch with a Snapdragon 630 and it has also been confirmed by retail stores that already listed it ahead of launch.

The Geekbench listing also includes the phone’s benchmark scores. It scored 866 points in the single-core test and 4123 points in the multi-core test. The 6GB RAM variant should have a slightly higher score.

Nubia Red Devil: An Official Image Teases A Beautiful Full Metal Design

After Razer Phone and Xiaomi Black Shark, a new smartphone dedicated to gamers is going to be announced on April 19. It will be called Nubia Red Devil (or Magic), and today ZTE’s sub-brand has published a render which shows the handset partially. The image has been published by Ni Fei on Weibo. In the image, we can see just a small part of the device which should be the bottom right corner, but it gives important details about its design. Given the presence of a U-shaped antenna band on the border, we can deduce that Nubia Red Devil has a full metal unibody design.

nubia red devil

The company logo has been placed on the right side of the back cover and the phone has round corners and a curved metal frame. Near the corner of the device, there is a weird element which seems to be either a hole or a fender, but Ni Fei has not revealed why it is there. This phone is expected to come with an innovative cooling system. According to rumors, while Xiaomi Black Shark has a liquid cooling system, Nubia Red Devil may sport an air cooling system with integrated fans. And what you see in the image might be a hole to make the heat come out of the handset.

On the frame, there is another hole which should be the microphone. Given that it is a gaming phone, Nubia Red Devil will be one of the most powerful smartphones out there. It will be released with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset running at a max frequency of 2.9 GHz, and the SoC should be paired with up to 8 GB of RAM. Its display is expected to be a 6-inch panel with an 18:9 aspect ratio showing images at a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. The handset is also expected to boast frontally-mounted stereo speakers.

New Poster Confirms Xiaomi Mi 6X Coming Soon

Xiaomi has an event scheduled for April 25. Most people are of the opinion that it is the launch of the Mi 6X but Xiaomi itself hasn’t officially confirmed that. However, a new poster might be the confirmation we need.

Mi 6X teaser poster

The new teaser poster which was shared on Xiaomi’s official Weibo page is a photo of Canadian-Chinese actor, Wu Yifan (Kris Wu) who is Xiaomi’s brand ambassador. The text on the photo reads “6X” and “Vision Impossible/AI See You”. This officially confirms the existence of the Mi 6X and also hints at its AI features and camera prowess. Although it doesn’t have the date of the event, we are pretty sure the poster is tied to the upcoming launch.

The Xiaomi Mi 6X is expected to launch with a 5.99” FHD+ display. It should come with a Snapdragon 660 processor with Qualcomm’s Artificial Intelligence Engine (AIE), 4GB/6GB RAM, and 32GB/64GB/128GB ROM.

It will have dual rear cameras in the same design as the Redmi Note 5 Pro and in a 12+20MP configuration and a 20MP selfie camera. Powering it is a 2,910mAh battery.

Drool Over These Photos of The Red Porsche Design Huawei Mate RS

The Porsche Design Huawei Mate RS is a luxury flagship phone launched alongside the Huawei P20 and Huawei P20 Pro. It shares mostly the same specs with the P20 Pro but with a much premium design, a notch-less display, an additional in-display fingerprint scanner, and 512GB of built-in storage.

Huawei Mate RS Porsche Design Red

The phone comes in black and red but most people have only seen the black variant. Even on the official website, there are no official photos of the red variant.

You know how much I love red phones and how I never fail to mention it. So when I came across live photos of the red variant, my first instinct was to share them with you. Below are pictures of the red Porsche Design Huawei Mate RS and they are as beautiful as a red Porsche 911 Carera GTS driving down the road on a hot summer afternoon.

The photos are courtesy of ITHome. They said they got their hands on a review unit but I have also added some photos from the retail page on JD.com. The phone is available for pre-order already.

Leaked Huawei Honor 10 Camera Details & Samples Reveal Semantic Image Segmentation Mode

Huawei’s Honor brand has been in the news lately as a result of the Honor 10 flagship which would join the fray very soon. Huawei has already scheduled an event for May 15 in London and during the event, we expect the Honor 10 to hit Europe. The flagship will also be launching in China on April 19. Expectations surrounding the Honor 10 includes the presence of a Kirin 970 chipset which brings AI to the smartphone, 5.8-inch display, 6GB RAM and 256GB storage. In addition to that, a new detail which leaked recently showing the presence of some advanced features on the Honor 10’s camera.Honor 10

The Honor 10 is also expected to feature the same 12MP + 20MP dual camera setup featured on the Huawei P20. The new feature is dubbed “semantic image segmentation mode”. The mode is a system to achieve multi-scene detection within a single photo. Already, the Kirin 970 AI chipset brings some advanced AI camera features that allow it to recognise objects like pets, snow, beaches, mountains, etc. However, this new algorithm seems to further extend that functionality, allowing the camera to recognise more than one feature within a still and also determine their position precisely. The feature also allows the application of localized effects and tweaks as needed.Honor 10

The leak also includes a couple of sample photos allegedly captured by the Honor 10’s shutters and the photos show how the semantic image segmentation mode pans out. One of the pictures is that of the semantic mode turned on and the second is of the mode turned off. The difference is pretty glaring with the new feature adding some attractive tweaks to the picture.

Apart from the sample photos all that were revealed include a couple of thumbnails which showcasing how the detection actually works in some scenes. Blush Gold iPhone X Seen At FCC (Photos)

There were reports that the iPhone X was supposed to come in a gold variant at launch. However, it didn’t due to alleged production issues. We can now confirm that the information is true as the FCC now has photos of the new variant for public viewing.

Blush Gold iPhone X rear

The color variant is called Blush Gold and serves as a third option to the already available Space Gray and Silver. True, this may not garner the same level of excitement if it were to be red but at least it is a new color variant.

The Blush Gold iPhone X has glass on both sides. The metal frame is also gold with a mirror-like finish. Even without the display turned on, one can clearly see the notch.

There is no info as to when the new color variant will be formally announced but it should be soon since the 180-day confidentiality period has expired and assuming production issues have been resolved. It should also be available for the same price as the other colors.

Unfortunately, from the photo, we can not see the lower bezel, but we suppose that it will be thicker than the others as we expect it to house the front camera just like the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2S. In our opinion and according to several leaks, Meizu 15 will have a tri-bezel-less design just the latest flagship by Xiaomi. According to the latest leaks, Meizu 15 will come with a 5.46-inch panel which will have the AMOLED technology and a Full HD 1080p resolution.

Under the hood, there will be an octa-core Snapdragon 660 SoC by Qualcomm and 4 or 6 GB of RAM depending on the configuration which you will choose to buy. The battery should have a capacity of 2940 mAh, not much for a device like this, but enough if it is well-optimized. Instead, Meizu 15 Plus will boast a 5.5-inch AMOLED panel which will show images at a Quad HD 1440p resolution. This device will have 4 or 6 GB of RAM as well, but its SoC will be more powerful. The name of the chipset has not been confirmed but it should be either the Snapdragon 845 or a Samsung Exynos.

The Mi Band 3 has been in the news lately with Xiaomi said to be prepping the device for launch. A couple of leaks have emerged pointing at the likely features the next-generation Xiaomi fitness band would pack. Xiaomi VP Wang Xang had also confirmed that the next-gen fitness tracker will launch this quarter. Now, we may just have spotted the first real photo of the Mi Band 3  adorning the hand of no less a person than Lei Jun, Xiaomi’s CEO.Xiaomi Mi Band 3

The photo of Lei Jun was captured during the launch of the Blackshark Gaming phone which Xiaomi has vested interest. On his left hand is a fitness band which looks very much like the Mi Band 2 except that it is bigger. There are speculations that this the Mi Band 3 but we can’t say for sure. This could as well be a fitness band from another manufacturer but we seriously doubt that.
