Yesterday, Huami Technology posted on Weibo that it had a big announcement later at night. Since the company is behind the Xiaomi Mi Band series, we thought it was related to the Mi Band 3. Turns out it is an update for its own Amazfit Watch 2.
In the Weibo post for the announcement, Huami says it is pushing out a big update tomorrow (today). The post also includes a photo that shows a soccer ball and a tennis racket. You may be wondering what that means. We’ll explain.
When the watch was launched last year, it was revealed that it could track activities from up to 10 different sport modes. Huami also added that it would add three new sport modes in future. The sport modes are golf, soccer, and tennis.
So it appears the update coming today will bring the ability to track your activity when playing tennis and soccer. Golf mode may come later or might have been cancelled.

A new Mi Notebook Air model has just gotten the 3C certification in China. It could be recalled that Xiaomi first announced the Mi Note Air in August 2016 in China and it came as a real challenger for the Apple iPad Air with a sleek design and equally stunning hardware setup. Since then, Xiaomi has added a new version with 4G LTE modem inside and has also upgraded the 12.5-inch model to include a seventh-gen Intel Core M3 processor which brought a 12% improvement in performance over the previous 6th generation Core M3. The Mi Notebook Pro was also launched alongside the Mi Mix 2 in September last year. We presently expect the Mix 2s to be launched on March 27. It is likely that the Mi Notebook which just received certification would also be unveiled.
The product which was spotted on 3C’s website on March 14 with model number 171502-xx, certified on March 7. At the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 that was held in the previous month, Sony had launched the Xperia XZ2 and Xperia Z2 Compact smartphones. However, the rumor mill had claimed that the Japanese tech giant would be also announcing the Xperia XZ2 Pro flagship with 4K display at MWC 2018. Today, the UAProf (User Agent Profile) of a new Sony handset with a model number of Sony H8176 has been spotted. The UAProfile reveals that it will be arriving with a 4K display. Previous leaks have claimed that Sony’s upcoming phone with 4K display would be arriving in the market as Xperia XZ2 Pro.
The above image shows that the Sony H8176 supports screen resolution of 4320 x 2160 pixels. This shows that the handset will carry support for an aspect ratio of 18:9 like the Xperia XZ2 and Xperia XZ2 Compact. If this handset exists in real, it is most likely to feature the Snapdragon 845 chipset.
The other information that has surfaced through UAProfile of Sony H8176 include support for the latest Android 8.1 Oreo OS. In the last month, the rumored Sony Xperia XZ2 Pro was spotted with 18:9 display and Android 8.1 Oreo on HTML5 benchmark test. However, the benchmark carried a different model number of H8116. This suggests that there could be two variants of the Xperia XZ2 Pro.
Previous reports have revealed that the XZ2 Pro may feature dual rear cameras that will comprise of an 18-megapixel primary sensor with a pixel size of 1.33micron and a 12-megapixel sensor with pixel size of 1.38micron. As of this writing, there is no information on the launch date of the Xperia XZ2 Pro. It is speculated to arrive in the market with a pricing of around (~$950). There is a possibility that this handset may get unveiled at the IFA 2018 event in Berlin, Germany in September this year.
Plenty of information on the features and specs of the upcoming Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S flagship phone have emerged through its firmware files. XDA Developers has today shared key information on the features of the AI dual camera of the Mi MIX 2S
Xiaomi has been consistently teasing Mi MIX 2S camera features like multi-frame image processing and slow-motion video shooting on Weibo. By decompiling the MIUI Camera app of the Mi MIX 2S, the publication has managed to reveal more information on these features.
Portrait mode has become one of the integral camera features on handsets featuring dual rear cameras. Since the predecessor Mi MIX 2 came with a single camera, it could not shoot photos in portrait mode. Previous reports have revealed that the Mi MIX 2S will be arriving with dual rear cameras.
The APK file of the MIUI Camera app has revealed that the Mi MIX 2S will be indeed equipped with portrait mode. Since the value of the portrait mode has been true in the configuration file, the dual cameras of MI MIX 2S will carry support for this feature.
Multi-frame noise reduction (MFNR) technology allows the camera to snap multiple shots in quick succession and then superimpose them to reduce noise. The publication claims that this feature could be available as a feature in the latest version of the MIUI Camera as the firmware files contains several strings related to it. The below images also show that are couple of evidences for AI Camera in the MUI Camera app. It has been previously revealed that the dual rear cameras of the Mi MIX 2S will be able to detect various kinds of scenes and adjust camera settings accordingly to capture best quality images.
The Mi MIX 2 can capture HD quality slow-motion videos at 120fps. However, the MIUI Camera reveals that the Mi MIX 2S will be arriving with support for recording Full HD (1080p) slow-motion videos of 120fps by default. Also, it will be able to capture 720p slow-motion videos at 240fps.
The MIUI Camera APK also reveals that the Mi MIX 2S will be able to encode videos in HEVC. The APK file also contains references for other features like “parallel processing” and “dual SAT cameras.” However, there is no information available on these features.

Multiple leaks have revealed the specs, features and images of the upcoming Huawei P20 series. Yesterday, a Huawei handset labelled as Huawei EML-L29 had appeared on Geekbench. EML refers EMILY, the codename of Huawei P20. Hence, it is speculated that it could be the first appearance of the Huawei P20 smartphone on the benchmarking site.
Compared to Huawei P20 Pro, the P20 will be arriving as a lighter device. Some of the key differences could be that the P20 Pro would be coming with triple rear cameras, OLED display and larger battery of 4,000mAh capacity, whereas the Huawei P20 could be a less powerful device featuring dual rear cameras, LCD display and 3,320mAh battery.
The Geekbench listing of the alleged P20 smartphone suggests that it may arrive with lesser RAM than the P20 Pro model. This seems possible since the Mate 10 came with 4 GB of RAM whereas the advanced Mate 10 Pro was available 4 GB and 6 GB RAM options.
On Geekbench, the Huawei P20 has been spotted with 4 GB of RAM. The device is powered by an octa-core processor that clocks at 1.8 GHz. It could be the Kirin 970 chipset that comes with a dedicated NPU unit. It is running on the latest Android 8.1 Oreo OS. In single-core and multi-core tests on the benchmarking site, the Huawei P20 has respectively scored 1878 and 6699.
Like the Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro, the Huawei P20 may arrive only in 4 GB RAM whereas the P20 Pro may come in 4 GB and 6 GB RAM models. The leaked renders of the P20 have revealed that it will be coming with an FHD+ LCD display that will be offering an aspect ratio of 19:9. The exact size of the display is not known. It is expected to arrive in color options like Black, Blue and Pink-Gold. Well-known tipster Roland Quandt had recently revealed that it would be arriving in Europe with a price tag of 679 euros (~$840) whereas the advanced P20 Pro may cost 899 euros (~$1,115). The official unveiling of the Huawei P20 and P20 Pro is scheduled to happen on March 27.

With no new Qualcomm chipset in the mid-range category more powerful than the Snapdragon 660 at the moment, Chinese manufacturers like Vivo and OPPO have no choice than to fall back to the same chip used in their last flagships.
The Vivo X21 which has been rumored to come with a Snapdragon 670 processor has appeared on Geekbench sporting a Snapdragon 660 SoC. Notwithstanding, we won’t rule out the possibility of a new processor when the phone launches on Monday, March 19. The phone is said to come in multiple variants and the one seen on Geekbench is the variant with an under-display fingerprint scanner.
The Vivo X21UD A was benchmarked early today. It runs Android 8.1 Oreo with the Snapdragon 660 and 6GB of RAM driving power under the hood.
Even though the processor is the same as last year’s, the RAM has been bumped up from 4GB and the fingerprint scanner is now underneath the display. It also runs Android 8.1 Oreo, the latest version of Android. These are significant changes no matter how you look at it.
The Xiaomi Roidmi 3S gadget is a must for every car owner who does not have a modern Bluetooth system in their car. You can now get the brand new Xiaomi Roidmi 3S FM modulator for less than $10 which is a limited time offer on Gearbest.
I’ve been using the previous generation Roidmi 2S for more than a year now and it works like a charm. In fact, this is my favorite car FM modulator that actually provides great sound quality (I use it in 2008 Honda Civic). Here is what I had to say about it in 2016 when I made a full review of it:
“I have to say that my search for the great budget FM modulator is finally over. I’ve tested some other cheap options out there but none of them could match the audio quality of the Roidmi 2s”.
Meizu may not be among the top 5 Chinese smartphone manufacturers but the company is known for innovation. We have seen Meizu experiment with various design styles like side fingerprint scanner, quad-LED flash, mBack button, secondary display etc. The company seems poised to explore the under glass fingerprint technology that would soon become a trend. The schematics of a recent Meizu patent has appeared on Weibo, revealing the presence of an under display fingerprint sensor technology.
Under display fingerprint technology isn’t really an innovation per se because it has made its debut commercially on the Vivo X20 Plus UD version. But Meizu’s own under glass technology performs dual roles. From the schematics, we can grab that the sensor may likely function as Meizu’s super mBack virtual button signified by a circle. The circle transforms into a fingerprint sign when there is need to use it.
The patent document shows that Meizu made the application on April 1, 2017. And the patent shows that in addition to unlocking the mobile phone, Meizu’s under-screen fingerprint recognition can be used for Meizu payment and other financial transaction that require fingerprint authentication. We can’t say if the patented technology would be featured on the upcoming Meizu 15 Plus flagship. Details of the Meizu flagship are still scanty at the moment.

Oppo R15 has just been spotted on Oppomart, the OPPO store from which you can purchase its smartphones online. The device is listed in four color variants: Hot Red, Star Purple, Snow White and Dream Mirror Red which reminds of its most advanced version, the R15 Dream Mirror. Further, the page on Oppomart lists some of the key specs of the device. According to the store, it will sport a 6.28-inch Super-V display with the AMOLED technology and a 19:9 aspect ratio. The display will include a notch just like the iPhone X.
The processor is not mentioned, but the listing mentions the presence of 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. From the images found in the store, it is clearly noticeable that the handset has a glass back and a frame made of aluminum. Given the high screen-to-body ratio, Oppo R15 has a fingerprint reader placed on the rear side. It also sports a dual camera setup which is said to have resolutions of 16 and 5 MP. According to leaks, there will also be a 20 MP sensor for selfies which will support artificial intelligence to enhance the beauty mode.
