Trinity is 5-inch Android Smartphone That Doubles As A Full Windows PC

If someone were to do a search on crowdfunding platforms, you are sure to come across some pretty interesting discoveries. An example is this smartphone called Trinity that runs Android but also functions as a full Windows PC. This is different from a dual-boot device that has both Android and Windows installed. It has separate hardware for both operating systems and can run Windows and Android simultaneously even letting you switch between both, without shutting one down.

Trinity

Trinity is being developed by Shane Lewis and now he wants you to crowdfund his idea so he can start shipping by the end of the year. The specs for the device are not mind-blowing since Lewis is working with old components. It will run Windows 10 and unspecified version of Android. It is also really thick at 17.5mm with a possibility of reaching 19mm when finished.

Trinity Specs

  • 5-inch 800 x 480 display

Samsung is Making a Prototype Phone With Dual Displays

Samsung is working on testing a prototype phone with dual displays, and according to industry sources production will begin soon. Both OLED screens will be connected in the middle by a hinge and will open and close like a clam-shell phone.

This device is quite different from the Galaxy X which is expected to use a single flexible OLED screen that can be folded in half. Samsung is reported to have placed orders for components to make about 2000 to 3000 units for the dual-screen phone in H1 2017.

This dual screen phone is probably a preliminary phase for the Galaxy X. And data gotten from the tests will be used to develop its foldable phone which Samsung plans to release in limited quantities in H2 2017. Since both the dual screen phone and the Galaxy X will be manufactured in limited quantities, they will only be available to a select few.

Misfit Flare, a Super Cheap Fitness Tracker Launched but Mi Band 2 is still King

US tech company  Misfit is renowned for its stylish fitness trackers that have minimalist designs but could easily be confused for jewelry. Today, the company has added another wearable device, this time an entry-level, cheap fitness tracker dubbed Misfit Flare.

Misfit Flare

The Flare is quite different from other Misfit wearables in that it is designed to track steps, distance, calorie burned as well as sleep quality but it can’t tell you what time it is because there is no time feature. Since there is no time feature, there’s the likelihood that the device wouldn’t have the alarm feature also. The wearable device can track various activities, like walking, running, yoga, soccer, basketball, and swimming but specifically tracking laps while swimming will require you to buy a $9.99 in-app.

Misfit Flare

On the design, the Misfit Flare comes with an aluminium outer case which is mounted on the socket in a black band. It has a round shape and there is a capacitive touch sensor with a LED located underneath the fitness device which is used to track activity progress throughout the day. The fitness tracker has a sensitive face as well which when double tapped, causes a LED indicator to flash. The flash has different types and interpretations. A single flash means a user is 25 percent of the way towards an activity goal, a double flash is 50 percent, and a triple flash is 75 percent. A light animation indicates the activity goal for the day has been reached. Still talking about the features, the Misfit Flare packs a replaceable, non-charging battery which is touted to last up to four months. The device is also water resistant and can withstand water up to a 50m depth.

Still talking about the features, the Misfit Flare packs a replaceable, non-charging battery which is touted to last up to four months. The device is also water resistant and can withstand water up to a 50m depth. It can be paired with an iPhone and can even be used as a remote device to take a selfie with an iPhone. It can also be used to wirelessly control music, advance slides in a presentation, control household devices, and more.

Misfit Flare

All these you can get for $59.99 and it is already available for purchase on Misfit’s website. When compared to the Xiaomi Mi Band 2, the Misfit Flare falls short in not having a time feature. The prices are also different as the Mi Band 2 still looks like the King of cheap fitness wearable devices. With the Mi Band 2, you’ll likely be getting much more for less since its price varies between $19.99 – $25.99.

Google Pixel 2 XL May Have Been Confirmed by New Google Code Update

Google is expected to continue the Pixel line of phones which it first launched last year, taking over from the Nexus series. The Pixel and Pixel XL were said to have been designed by Google itself and even though some are a little disappointed with the design and configuration, they did a good job.

Pixel 2 Render

A new set of data has revealed the possibility that Google will release three models of the Pixel phone this year. The information is coming rather early because the new Pixel models are not expected until October or thereabout. The Google devices were revealed by a set of code on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) gerrit. The most recent code update to AOSP on Google Source included the term “Taimen” and also included reference to Sailfish, Marlin, Walleye, and Muskie.

The source code only reveals the codenames of the suspected Google devices but from the codenames of previous Google devices, including the Nexus models, we can tell which is bigger. Google seems to have a thing with fishes because all their models have gotten codenames named after fishes and the size of the model usually corresponds with the size of the fish they are named after. The Google Pixel 2 is believed to be codenamed Walleye while the Pixel 2 XL goes by the codename Muskeye. There seems to be a third model, perhaps a Pixel 2 XXL and it is codenamed Taimen.

Fish Codenames for Google Smartphones:
• 2012: Nexus 4_____(Mako)
• 2013: Nexus 5_____(Hammerhead)
• 2014: Nexus 6_____(Shamu)
• 2015: Nexus 5X____(Bullhead)
••2015: Nexus 6P____(Angler)
• 2016: Pixel_______(Sailfish)
••2016: Pixel XL____(Marlin)
• 2017: Pixel 2_____(Walleye)
••2017: Pixel 2 XL__(Muskie)
••2017: Pixel XXL___(Taimen)

We are not entirely sure the device codenamed Taimen (Pixel 2 XXL) would indeed be a third Pixel smartphone. It could turn out to be a notebook device or a whole new device category altogether. Google I/O 2017 comes up from May 17 – 19 and we could get a few clues from the event about the upcoming Pixel models.

Meizu E2 Launching on April 26, Press Invite Out!

Barely two days after Meizu VP Li Nan hinted that the company is going to launch a new smartphone this month, the press invite for the launch of the smartphone is out. The invitation shows that the expected smartphone is a relatively unknown Meizu E2.

meizu e2

The press invite which is already displayed on Meizu’s Blue Charm Weibo page, reveals that the launch event would hold on April 26 at the Beijing Performing Arts Centre. The launch event will kick off at 15.00 hrs. Although the invitation did not categorically state that the Meizu E2 is the device launching, the inscription “E2” at the front nd even on the envelope shows the phone is the Meizu E2.

While we don’t know anything about the design of the smartphone, Li Nan had promised us a smartphone with an innovative, attractive design. The invitation also contains the sketches of a phone’s front and rear panels believed to be those of the E2. The design is patently Meizu, as it has no major difference from previous Meizu works. Nothing is known about the specs except that a new Meizu phone with budget specs was recently certified by TENAA and could be this model. But then, it may not be that of the Meizu E2, so we look forward to the launch event.

HTC Exon Concept Smartphone Surface with Unique Design

The HTC Exon is the new concept smartphone designed by Mladen MIlic who is known for designing various concept phones. The appearance of the HTC Exon shows that its display is flanked with very slim bezels.  It has a unique shape as it has cut-off edges with noticeable curve at its corners and HTC’s logo can be seen engraved at the top-left corner and the phone features a set of four front-facing speakers.

The HTC Exon seems to feature a full metallic chassis and it houses a 5.5-inch screen. Nothing else is known on the specifications of the phone. The capacitive touchscreen buttons can be seen below the display. The volume controllers are placed on the left side of the phone whereas its right edge has the power button.

A dedicated camera key is also present on the lower part of the right edge of the phone. The rear side of the HTC Exon has a pretty plain appeal as it features another logo of the company at the center and a dual-LED enable camera sensor at the top-right corner.  The phone is in three colors like white, silver and copper.

The HTC Exon is just a concept phone. Hence, it is unlikely that HTC would release such a phone. However, the Taiwanese firm is expected to announce the HTC U flagship as early as in this month. HTC has released two smartphones, the HTC U Ultra and U Play, in this year. The company is rumored to launch only 6 to 7 smartphones this year.

The HTC U Ultra that was introduced at the start of this year features Snapdragon 821 chip, but the rumored HTC U will be a flagship phone that will be driven by Snapdragon 835 SoC. The phone that is codenamed as HTC Ocean has allegedly appeared on AnTuTu. Since rumors suggest that it won’t feature any physical buttons, its most striking feature will be its touch-sensitive metallic frame that will give access to various functions through actions like longer and shorter presses and swiping on the frame.

Three New Huawei MateBooks: Will Be Named E, X and D

The Huawei MateBook is due for a refresh this year. Before the end of 2016, an insider source had revealed that the next model will feature two new sizes. A tweet by EvanBlass (@evleaks) yesterday confirmed it and also revealed their codenames and models.

The Huawei MateBook will be available in three different sizes this year. The sizes were not mentioned in this new leak but we presume they will be 12, 13, and 15 inches. What the leak does reveal are the codenames for the devices. One is codenamed Pascal, another is called Bell, and the third one is Watt. When they launch they will be called the Huawei MateBook E, MateBook X, and MateBook D.

If you can recollect, Pascal was benchmarked recently and according to another leakster (@rquandt), it has a 15-inch screen. There is a likelihood that they will not only differ in terms of size but also in configuration. Pascal has 8GB of RAM and a Core i5-7200U CPU. The other two may feature less RAM and a less powerful processor.

Xiaomi Mi 6 & Mi 6 Plus Prices Leak Ahead of April 19 Launch

Xiaomi just recently announced an April 19 launch date for the Mi 6 and ahead of the date, the supposed price list of the different Mi 6 and Mi 6 Plus variants have surfaced online. The Mi 6 is listed to start at 2,199 Yuan ($314) which is a little higher than the 1,999 Yuan price tag we expect on the Xiaomi flagship. The Xiaomi Mi 6 Plus starts way higher at 2,699 Yuan ($390).

xiaomi mi 6 price

The leaked price sheet indicates that the Mi 6 will come in two memory variants, both packing 4GB of RAM. The storages are 64GB and 128GB respectively. While the 2199 Yuan is the price of the 4GB + 64GB model, the higher 4GB + 128GB model is expected to be priced at 2599 Yuan ($376). Both prices are still less than the almost impossible 3,599 Yuan price the device was earlier leaked to carry.

xiaomi mi 6 image

On the other hand, the Mi 6 Plus comes with three versions and all three have 6GB RAM onboard. But the difference lies in the storages. The 6GB + 64GB version of the Mi 6 Plus is listed with a 2,699 Yuan ($390) price tag. The next model features a 6GB + 128GB combo and is priced at 3,099 Yuan ($448). Finally, a third version of the Mi 6 is listed with 6GB RAM + 256GB storage and carries a 3,699 Yuan ($535) price tag.

As we already know, the Mi 6 and 6 Plus will come with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 835 flagship chip and would run Android 7.1.1 with the MIUI 8 overlay. While the Mi 6 is expected to sport a 5.1-inch display, the Mi 6 Plus is expected with a larger 5.7-inch display. There will also be a dual camera set up on both models. Despite these high-end features and specs, we still don’t expect the Mi 6 to start higher than 1,999 Yuan. So, we’ll take this latest leak, coming from a source without much credibility, with a pinch of salt.

Xiaomi has launched a new crowdfunded product, its 76th product under the MIJIA platform. The product is the 90 Points Colorful Sunscreen Skin coat and it is already available for funding on Mi home.

90 Points Colorful Sunscreen skin coat

The 90 Points Colorful Sunscreen skin coat comes with a wicking or material which is breathable and absorbs ultraviolet rays, thus protecting the skin of the wearer. It is manufactured using a water-soluble yarn fabric, unlike the previously launched 90-points jacket that was a water-resistant type.

The coat comes with a reflective printing on the back and shoulders, making it a nice and safe outfit for use at night. The reflective printing reflects when light shines on it. It is available in three attractive colours. The model for male comes in blue and dark odel for male comes in blue and dark gray colours while the female jacket comes in green colour only.

Exclusive Photos of Prototype Bezel-less Elephone With 18:9 Aspect Ratio

Elephone is joining the fray of manufacturers with phones with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The other exciting part is that, the new device will also be taking on the Xiaomi Mi MIX with its bezel-less design.

LG kicked off the 18:9 aspect ratio with its LG G6‘ Full Vision Display. Samsung followed with the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ which both have an aspect ratio of 18.5:9. While all three phones have shaved off a large part of their bezels, they still can’t match that of this new device Elephone is working on.

Elephone 18:9 Phone

It is important to note that this device is still a prototype, so there is no info on when it will launch and how much it will cost. There are also no specification details available.

One thing you’d notice from the images is that there doesn’t seem to be a front camera, not even on the lower bezel like in the Mi MIX. But if you take a look at the rear camera, it’s designed in such a way that it can be raised up.

The phone also doesn’t seem to have a fingerprint scanner on the back or up in front, so it’s likely that it’s embedded under the display.

LeEco Le Pro 3 AI Edition With Dual Cameras: Hands-on pictures

LeEco finally launched its much-touted flagship smartphone with AI technology and it turns out the device is an upgraded version of last year’s Le Pro 3 flagship. The LeEco Le Pro 3 AI Edition as it is called, is a little different from the Le Pro 3 in design and the hardware is an entirely different ball game.

We bring you some fresh photos of the Le Pro 3 AI Edition so we can see how it differs from the Le Pro 3. The Le Pro 3 AI Edition is available in gold, rose gold, and black, so what we have here is the gold coloured variant. If you compare the Le Pro 3 and Le Pro 3 AI (both pictured above), the two flagships could be said to be similar in their front design. The display comes with the same near bezel-less design at the sides and that black borders just won’t go away. There is absolutely no physical home button at the front as it is a virtual affair.

LeEco Le Pro 3 AI Edition

Where there are marked differences in design is at the rear aspect where the Le Pro 3 AI Edition uses a fused antenna design located at the border edge just like is found on the iPhone 7 and OPPO R9S. The most prominent design feature is the design of the dual cameras making it look like the face of the cartoon character – Biscuit man. The Le Pro 3 came with a single rear camera but here we have a dual setup. The rear fingerprint sensor is still located under the camera as well as the LeEco logo at the extreme end.

le pro 3

We just can’t complete this without reminding you that the Le Pro 3 AI comes with artificial intelligence called Lele. Lele is a voice-activated intelligent assistant, so there is no special button to activate it. Also, instead of a Snapdragon 821 chipset, there are two models with Helio X23 and Helio X27 processor respectively. Both versions come with 4GB of RAM while the base version has a 32GB storage and the higher version a 64GB storage.

APRIL 14 Release

Le Pro 3 AI Edition Dual Cameras

The Le Pro 3 AI Edition has two 13MP dual cameras on the rear that work in the RGB + monochrome format. Combined with what LeEco calls LE IMAGE AI Engine, users should be able to take clearer and sharper images under low light conditions. The camera app has also got a number of upgraded features. The cameras sit in a single housing along with the dual LED flash giving it a sort of smiley face akin to a Japanese forest spirit.

LeLe AI Assistant

LeEco’s AI assistant is called LeLe. While it may not sound fancy like Siri or Alexa, it does have some very interesting features. LeLe can be activated when the screen is off and will allow you carry out a number of functions by voice alone. It is integrated with all LeECo apps and also works with a number of third party applications too. If you are shopping, LeLe is smart enough to bring up payment options like AliPay. The interesting thing about LeLe is that it learns over time and gets better at what it does.

Le Pro 3 AI Edition Price

The base version of the Le Pro 3 AI Edition is priced at ¥1799 (~$260) while the Helio X27 model sells for ¥2399 ($350). Pre-orders begin at 1400hrs today before going on sale at 1000hrs on the 14th of April. The Le Pro 3 AI Edition is available in gold, rose gold, and black.

China’s first domestic smartphone equipped with the Snapdragon 835 chip, the Mi 6 has been set to launch on April 19. The Xiaomi Mi 6 flagship was earlier thought to launch today but it turned out Xiaomi fixed today to announce the launch date of the device and that date is just a couple of days away.

The teaser poster announcing the launch had the rider; “You waited 203 days, we waited 7 years”. This is apparently referring to the Mi 5S launch which is 203 days back. Xiaomi is still basking in the euphoria of its 7years  of existence and that is also contained in the teaser.

Moto E4 Specs Leak as it Gets Certified in Indonesia

The Moto ride continues, barely two weeks after the Moto E4 and E4 Plus was spotted on the US FCC website where they were certified. Unfortunately, the FCC appearance didn’t give many details of the specs.  However, the Moto E4 has now appeared on the website of the Indonesian regulatory body P3DN where it has been certified for use in the country.

The listing appears to be for the version of the Moto E4 that would hit the Indonesian market, considering it has a model number XT 1755 which is different from the FCC listed model with number XT 1723. The listed specifications are entirely entry-level specs and they include a 5-inch FWVGA display with a rather low 854 x 480 pixels resolution.

Also, the phone is listed with a MediaTek MT6737m processor with 1GB/2GB/3GB and 4GB RAM versions. All four versions pack the same 16GB storage. The camera aspect could be said to be just for formality because it packs a 5MP rear camera and a 2MP selfie shooter. Keeping the lights on would be a 2300mAh battery as against the 4,000mAh battery on the FCC listed Moto E4.
