Huawei: MX4 Pro still uses an MTK chip!
It is no secret that the MX4 Pro will have a fingerprint sensor. Reports have said that both it and the Mate 7 have a fingerprint scanner similar to the iPhone 5S.
Meizu has boasted that they have a better solution for a fingerprint scanner than the Mate 7. This immediately got Huawei’s attention.
In response, the Huawei Mate 7’s managers said in their Weibo account that they hope that they can produce a device that can give users a better user experience instead of another cheap product. They also want to know if the fact that Meizu uses MTK processors is the reason why they were able to solve the fingerprint sensors’ security problems.
Will the MX4 Pro continue to use an MTK processor? If they go on like before, they might use the Samsung 5430 octa-core chipset.

Hands on with the $119 Elephone G6 from giztop – Amazing hardware, quality and price!
Elephone has announced a number of new devices lately which includes the affordable Elephone G6 smartphone. We already reviewed its sibling, the G5 a few days back and now, its time to take a look at the slightly costlier, but a lot faster option, the G6.
Elephone G6 is up for pre-order starting September 23 worldwide. Yes, you don’t have to be in China to pre-order the device as Elephone has made the device available in many countries throughout the world.
We were lucky enough to get our hands on this amazing device from Elephone. Here’s our first impression of the device.
DESIGN
We previously reviewed Elephone G5, the OnePlus One clone and praised its design. The newly announced Elephone G6 too is based on the same design, which is actually a good thing. The overall design looks premium and the slightly curved back actually helps you to hold it perfectly on your palm. This ergonomic design along with the soft touch material on the back makes it very easy to operate the device even with one hand.
The G6 is extremely thin too and at 7.6mm, its one of the slimmest Elephone handsets out in the market. Although the device features a 5inch display, the overall device looks compact with 143x71x7.8mm dimensions.
DISPLAY
Although pricier, the G6 is smaller than the G5. It comes with a 5 inch 1280 x 720p display up front which should be able to deliver sharp images and videos on screen. Given that G5 sports the same resolution on its larger screen, the screen quality will be better on the G6.
HARDWARE
Elephone has made sure that the hardware is top notch on the G6. The device sports a Mediatek MTK6592 OctaCore processor clocked at 1.7GHz along with ARM Mali 450MP GPU. You get 1GB RAM on board along with 8GB internal storage. Luckily, the memory is expandable via a MicroSD card up to 64GB.
It’s a octa core phone with 720p display, but Elephone G6 is listed for only $136.9 at giztop.com, never had an octa core phone priced so cheap.
CAMERA
Elephone G6 comes with the same 13MP rear camera found on the G5. Unfortunately, the company went with a smaller 2MP sensor for the front camera which is kind of disappointing. The less pricier version G5 comes with a 5MP front shooter, so we expected G6 to feature atleast this sensor.
Still the 2MP front camera managed to click good pictures even in dim light.
The camera quality isn’t that great, but still in normal daylight pictures were quite decent. Things got a bit grainy in low light, but we can’t really expect more than this from an affordable mid range phone.
Check out the gallery below to get an idea about the G6’s camera.
CONNECTIVITY AND SPECIAL FEATURES
The device comes with standard connectivity features like Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, A-GPS, Wi-Fi, MicroUSB, Dual Sim card slot etc. However the phone does have one special element which differentiates it from all other mid range phones. The G6 comes with a fingerprint sensor on the back which provides additional protection to the data on the device.
The small rectangular bar below the camera is the fingerprint sensor.
This is not something that you usually find in smartphones in this price range, so brownie points to G6 for this special feature.
As for the battery, we were a bit disappointed. The phone comes with only a 2,250 mAh battery which is less than what you get in most 5 inch smartphones in the market. However, it should be enough for a day long with moderate usage. Unfortunately, we couldn’t play with the handset to get an idea about the talk time on the device.
SOFTWARE
G6 comes with Android 4.4.2 Kitkat OS with the option of MIUI on top. There are a number of gesture controls on the device like double tap to wake, quick app launch from lock screen by drawing the specified letters, special finger print sensor based features etc.
The finger print sensor on the back provides additional security to the data on the device. You can unlock the device using the sensor, protect apps like gallery, messaging etc to keep your personal data safe. As we mentioned before, this feature is really the highlight of the device and we are sure many will choose the device just because it comes with the sensor.
In short, we like the new Elephone G6. It comes with a powerful Octa Core processor, a finger print sensor, a decent camera and the latest Android OS with special software tweaks. And this Elephone G6 is listed for $119 at giztop.com

Review: The Lenovo Vibe X2
The Rainbow Layer Design
If anyone remembers the Lenovo Vibe X, Vibe Z, and this year’s Lenovo Golden Warrio S8, they almost look completely alike. This time, however, Lenovo has decided to break tradition for the X2 by following a multi-level layer design.
The so-called “Layer” design refers to the rarely-applied cellphone design that is used for the Lenovo X2. From the side, you can see that the phone’s phrame is divided into four sections (including the screen), each having a different color, resembling a rainbow. The screen is “hanging” above the second section. From the front, it appears that the screen is surrounded by a “rainbow” frame.
The USB port is at the bottom
The X2 has very clear edges and corners. The display screen’s 5-inch size also made the phone’s overall size more suitable. You can pull down the notification menu with just your right thumb. It also has a thickness of 7.27mm.
Magnesium Alloy unibody
The Lenovo X2 sports a 5-inch 1920 x 1080 display screen. Considering the body’s size, it is not a big screen although 1080p is within industry standards. Overall, these are fair measurements and there is a balance.
5-inch HD screen
Above the screen, we can see the phone’s 5mp front camera. The front of this phone does not carry Lenovo’s logo. Below the screen are three buttons for background lights.
The power and volume buttons are located at the phone’s right side, and not only is this phone made of metal but follows a laser concentric design. The frame and back are made of magnesium alloy with a fine texture. Because it is a unitary body, the back cannot be taken off. As a result, a dual-SIM dish can be pulled out. It supports micro SIM and nano SIM cards. It also supports TD-LTE, TD-SCDMA, and GSM.
The magnesium rear shell went through a meticulous sandblasting process. It does not have any grainy texture. It provides great protection against leaving fingerprints and skidding. The 13mp camera and LED light are located at the upper let side. The phone is powered by a 2300mAh battery.
Vibe UI 2.0
The Lenovo phone X2 uses the Android 4.4.2 OS and its UI is the Vibe UI 2.0. The following illustrates the special features and highlights of this user interface.
When you swipe your finger upwards at the unlock screen, you can unlock the phone. When you swipe it sideways, you can change the unlock screen’s wallpaper. After unlocking the phone, you can see that the Lenovo X2 cancelled the secondary menu’s design, but still retains the secondary menu’s icons. When you click them, the background picture will not be blurry. When you click the menu button, the theme and wallpaper interface will come out. So many sources can be changed. Some are free, and some are not. The users can choose.
This year, it has been necessary to add smart motion sensors. The Lenovo Phone X2 offers a selection of mobile sensing functions. For example, when you open your phone, you can press the volume button on the right to also brighten up the screen. Furthermore, you can also take photos quickly. When the screen is black, you can quickly double click the Home button to take photos.
The Le series apps have a long history and now comes with new features. There are now many third-party apps at the Le store that are available for download, and can also notify the user of updates on security software. Le Security provides anti-hacking protection, system improvements, and a software uninstaller. It is very easy to use.
Super Camera 4.1 software offers high-quality photos
Next, we will take a look at the Lenovo X2’s camera. Its Super Camera software has now been upgraded to 4.1. How is it?
The biggest change in the Super Camera 4.1 is that it is simpler. Earlier versions had 24 types of filters. Although there was a lot to choose, it was still hard to pick one. The Super Camera 4.1 makes this easy but reducing it to half. This increases the number of uses of 12 filters. As the photos show, these filters may add a special charm to them.
The quality of the photos taken by the X2 is great. They are very clear whether they are taken indoors or outdoors. The colors are also a bit more natural. The closest focal distance is about 8cm, making it impossible to focus if you are too near.
