Samsung Galaxy Watch users will now be able to tell the time of not just Earth but all the planets in the solar system. Samsung has partnered with the European Space Agency (ESA) to develop a new range of watch faces, one for each planet, to display real-time data of that particular planet.

Galaxy Time watch face launched

The new watch face, Galaxy Time, is available on WearOS-powered Galaxy smartwatches. This means it is available on all Samsung smartwatches, including the Galaxy Watch Series 4 and those after it.

Owners of the eligible smartwatch models can download the watch face directly from the Google PlayStore. The Galaxy Time was made public on March 31, as announced by Samsung Germany. That said, its availability may be affected by users’ regions.

There are eight different Galaxy Time watch faces to match the number of planets in the solar system. Each planet has a unique clock system, as time runs slower and faster based on different factors. The time on each planet is calculated by meticulously observing its speed of rotation around its axis and its orbit around the sun. Given the complexity of these calculations, Samsung has partnered with the European Space Agency to ensure the quality of the time data used in Galaxy Time.

In addition to time, the new watch face can provide other helpful insights, including the distance of planets from the Sun and Earth, the number of their moons, and their real-time position and corresponding season. Samsung credits Leo Burnett (Germany), with whom they previously collaborated on the Samsung Galaxy S8 product campaign, with the original concept for the Galaxy Time.

As stated earlier, data about planets’ rotation and revolution are provided by the European Space Agency (ESA). Metadesign, a Berlin-based brand agency, finalized the design for the Galaxy Time watch faces.

The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 has been the subject of speculation lately. The new Galaxy Watch 7 series is now tipped to feature the Exynos W940 processor on one of the variants which could translate to significant improvement in its speed and battery performance. The upcoming Samsung wearable has seen a flurry of insights ahead of its expected launch this summer.

The Exynos W940 processor of the Galaxy Watch 7 series is about 50% more efficient and 30% faster than the previous model, according to tipster @TheGalox. Apart from the chipset upgrade, the Galaxy Watch 7 will reportedly come in a square shape – a first for a Samsung wearable. The square-shaped idea is being considered enthusiastically in-house.

The inclusion of a major hardware upgrade of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 is a major highlight, as things move more slowly in wearable technology. There was no change in processor between the Galaxy Watch 1 and 3, as well as between the Galaxy Watch 4 and 5. The respective chipsets for the two sets of Samsung Galaxy smartwatches were the Exynos 9110 and Exynos W920.

Both the speed and efficiency improvements for the Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 are significant. While the original Galaxy Watch had a 4-day battery life, subsequent models declined from that benchmark but the Galaxy Watch 7 could move up in this regard. There are several smart wearables in the market including the OnePlus Watch 2 that deliver up to 100 hours of battery life.

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 7 could be available in three versions, according to tipster @kro-roe. The models are the traditional Classic and Pro versions, in addition to a new version that could represent the square model being considered. Samsung has for the last few years, introduced the new Galaxy Watch series in August alongside new foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold and Z Flip. Therefore, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6 are expected to debut in the summer as well.

In a major move, Samsung India made Health Monitor Blood Pressure and ECG Tracking features available in India on the Galaxy Watch 6. Surprisingly, the same features are also live for the Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 4 Series too. After bringing support for Samsung Pay early this year in the country, the BP monitoring feature was the last that was absent in the Indian market on the Galaxy Watches.

Samsung Galaxy Watch users can now conveniently monitor their blood pressure and track their ECG using the Samsung Health Monitor App. The app is available on the Galaxy Store, and users can follow on-screen instructions to monitor their blood pressure. The Samsung Health Monitor App received clearance and certification from India’s Central Drugs Standard Control Organization.

The feature is only compatible with the Galaxy smartphone; otherwise, you may not get these features. However, you also require a separate blood pressure measuring machine to calibrate the Samsung Galaxy Watch every month.

Steps to Measure Blood Pressure Using Galaxy Watch

Below are easy steps to check your blood pressure using the in-built photoplethysmogram (PPG) sensor, which can record systolic and diastolic pressure, as well as pulse rate, and record it in the Samsung Health Monitor app.

Prerequisites:

• Download the Samsung Health Monitor App on your Galaxy Watch and Galaxy smartphone
• Calibrate the Galaxy Watch using a blood pressure machine and on-screen instructions.

Steps:

1. After downloading the app and calibrating, wear the Galaxy Watch on the same wrist as calibrated using a strap.
2. Open the Samsung Health Monitor App on the Galaxy Watch.
3. Tap on blood pressure, and then follow on-screen instructions to start blood pressure measurements.
4. After 30 seconds, the user can see their blood pressure on the watch or smartphone itself.

A similar process is followed to measure the ECG on the Galaxy Watch. The user just needs to select ECG on the Samsung Health Monitor App. It detects the electrical signals produced by the heart with each beat and records them on a graph. The app lets you record, save, and share ECG data in a PDF format.

Samsung has started rolling out the OneUI 5 Watch update to its Galaxy Watch 4 and Galaxy Watch 5. This update includes a number of new features and improvements. But one of the most interesting new features is support for the Watch Unlock feature. 

The feature was first announced earlier this year as a part of Wear OS 4 and was demonstrated on the Pixel Watch. It works by automatically unlocking your phone when your unlocked smartwatch is nearby. This is similar to how the Apple Watch can unlock an iPhone. 

With the Watch Unlock feature coming to OneUI 5 Watch, users can now unlock their smartphones without entering a PIN, password, or using biometric authentication, as long as they are wearing a Wear OS 4 smartwatch. This would be helpful for scenarios like when users are driving and wearing a helmet, or when their fingers are wet or dirty.

The feature was first discovered by Android enthusiast Mishaal Rahman for the Pixel Watch a few days ago. Ærmando later discovered the Watch Unlock feature (com.google.android.clockwork.active_unlock) in the One UI 5 Watch update.

Also, it’s important to note that, Watch Unlock is a more secure way to keep your phone unlocked than Trusted Devices. Unlike Trusted Devices, which only keep your phone unlocked for a certain period of time, Watch Unlock only unlocks your phone when your smartwatch is also unlocked. To use this feature, you need to set a PIN or password for your smartwatch.

Samsung has announced a new special edition of its Galaxy Watch 6 Classic, called the Astro Edition. This limited-edition watch is inspired by the astrolabe, an ancient astronomical instrument used to track the stars and planets. The Galaxy Watch 6 Classic Astro Edition has a 47mm stainless steel case with a black DLC coating.

The bezel is made of ceramic and features a constellation map with 24 different star signs. The watch also comes with an additional fabric strap and a set of Astro Edition collectibles. In addition to its unique design, the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic Astro Edition also comes with a number of features inspired by the astrolabe. These include a compass complication on the watch face, as well as lunar and solar phase tracking.

So there is likely certain differences in pricing depending on the different region and their tax rates. However, we now know that the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 starts for 319.99 Euros for the 40mm variant in Graphite and Cream color option. This variant is Bluetooth only, while the 4G enabled versions costs 369.99 Euros.

The Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event is just around the corner. During this major event, the company is set to unveil a number of highly anticipated smartphones, tablets, and much more. However, prior to this conference, new leaks have revealed the promotional image posters that showcase the Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, Galaxy Tab S9 series, and Galaxy Watch 6 series. So let’s have a look.

Samsung promo material leak showcase a number of its upcoming products

The leaked official images arrive from multiple sources which includes known tipster Evan Blass. These leaked official image posters were shared on Twitter and offer us a glimpse of devices like the upcoming foldable phones, Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5, along with the new Galaxy Watch 6 and Galaxy Watch 6 Classic, and Galaxy Tab S9 series that consists of the base model, Galaxy Tab S9+, and Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra.

In one of the pictures, we can see multiple Samsung devices together, including the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Watch 6 in Mint color, Galaxy Tab S9 Ultra with an S Pen, and lastly the Galaxy Buds earbuds in white, which is likely the Galaxy Buds 3 model. The Tab S9 series promo picture has the three models together while the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Galaxy Z Flip 5 were spotted on separate images, which showcased their front and rear design.

The Flip 5 images also highlight the larger cover display, which is in line with out previous render leak. The Galaxy Z Flip 5 will arrive with a 3.4 inch external display that is a taller than the 1.9 inch panel that was found on the previous generations. This device is also expected to arrive with a new hinge mechanism. The Galaxy Tab S9 series poster images also hint at its protection rating, being clearly advertised as at least splash resistant.

Arriving at the last device that was leaked, the Galaxy Watch 6 and Galaxy Watch 6 Classic model were spotted in these recent promo images. We can see the base model in multiple color option, namely white, yellow, lavender, mint, and gray as well. On the other hand, the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic appears to feature its rotating bezel. This smartwatch might also launch with special band options as well.

Based on what we know so far, the South Korean tech giant is rumored to kick off its Galaxy Unpacked event next month, around the 26th or 27th of July 2023. Now, a new report that has surfaced in a South Korean publication named Chosun has revealed the launch date of the next Galaxy Unpacked event, which will see the arrival of the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5.

As per the report, the South Korean tech giant will hold a launch event on July 26 to announce its new foldable smartphones. To recall, the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and the Z Flip 4 were announced on August 10. Hence, the company reportedly plans to release the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and the Galaxy Z Flip 5 around two weeks earlier than their predecessors.

Samsung has been launching its Galaxy Z foldables in August every year. However, it appears that the company’s new strategy is to create a sufficient gap between the launch of the Galaxy Z foldables and Apple’s new iPhones, which usually debut in September every year.

Samsung has announced that its upcoming Galaxy Watch 6 series will feature an FDA-approved heart-rate monitoring feature, allowing users to detect irregular heart rhythms and signs of atrial fibrillation (AFib). The feature, called Irregular Heart Rhythm Notification (IHRN), is a component of the existing Electrocardiogram (ECG) feature on Galaxy Watches and has received clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

A Major Step Towards Proactive Health and Wellness Tracking

The IHRN feature will be part of the One UI 5 Watch update and will debut on the Galaxy Watch 6 series, which is rumored to include a standard model and a Classic variant with a physical rotating bezel. After the release of the Watch 6 series, the IHRN feature will expand to previous Galaxy Watch editions.

The IHRN feature uses the BioActive Sensor, which was introduced with the Galaxy Watch 4 series, to check for irregular heart rhythms in the background. The BioActive Sensor is a 3-in-1 sensor that combines an optical heart rate sensor, an electrical heart sensor, and a bioelectrical impedance analysis sensor to provide more accurate heart rate monitoring.

In addition to the IHRN feature, the One UI 5 Watch update will bring personalized heart rate zones, improved safety features like Fall Detection and automatic SOS calls, and help users sleep better. The update will only be available on Wear OS Galaxy smartwatches, which includes the Galaxy Watch 4 and later models, and not on older models powered by Tizen, such as the Galaxy Watch 3.

Bigger displays on smartwatches are generally considered better because they allow for more information to be displayed at once, improving the overall user experience. Well, Samsung seems to be experimenting with its smartwatches’ screen size in order to see what its customers prefer.

Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy Watch 6 Classic is expected to have a larger screen size than its predecessor, according to a tweet from the well-known leaker, Ice Universe (@UniverseIce). While the Galaxy Watch 3, Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, and Galaxy Watch 5 Pro all had 1.4-inch circular displays, the new watch is rumored to have a 1.47-inch screen, making it 0.7 inches bigger than the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro. The resolution of the new watch has also been improved, though it has not yet been confirmed what that resolution is.

In addition to a larger screen, the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic is expected to feature a rotating bezel, which is a beloved feature by many smartwatch users. The watch will likely run on One UI Watch software and have a range of features including an accelerometer, barometer, blood pressure monitoring, ECG, GPS, gyro, heart rate sensor, magnetic sensor, sleep tracking, and stress measurement. It will also have an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, and will support LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, Samsung Pay, and wireless charging. However, battery life is not expected to see a significant improvement from previous models.

The Galaxy Watch 5 series was an interesting refresh, offering consumers several models to choose from. But Samsung did break some hearts by ditching one of the most beloved features on its smartwatches— the rotating bezel. Its origin dates back to the time when the company’s smartwatches used to be sold under the “Gear” moniker. Now, it is being claimed that the upcoming Galaxy Watch 6 series could bring fan-favorite rotating back. Here are the details.

According to YouTuber Super Roader, the physical rotating bezel will be back with the upcoming Galaxy Watch 6 series. But there’s a catch— only the Galaxy Watch 6 Pro will be worthy enough to feature it. The standard Galaxy Watch 6 may have to make do with a digital bezel, which isn’t necessarily a downside, but it cannot fully replicate the authentic tactile sensation of a physical rotating bezel.

If you have ever worn a Samsung smartwatch (Galaxy Watch 4 series or older), you would appreciate the sheer pleasure of using the rotating bezel to effortlessly navigate through widgets, screens, and applications.

Separately, it has been reported that the Watch 6 Pro will be offered in two sizes— one will likely be a smaller size, made for those who don’t want a large watch. To recall, the Galaxy Watch 5 Pro was launched in just one 45mm size last year. Reports also claim that the Watch 6 Pro will continue to focus on great battery life. We are not sure when Samsung plans to launch the Galaxy Watch 6 series. It may unveil the wearables in the second half of this year, alongside the new foldable smartphones.

Samsung is said to refresh its smartwatch lineup in 2023 as well. The new models are expected to be called Galaxy Watch 6 as they will act as a successor to Galaxy Watch 5 from 2022.

A few days back, the design of this upcoming wearable was revealed by a reliable tipster. Now, the battery capacity of this product has been publicized by a certification agency.

As per GalaxyClub, the batteries of two upcoming Samsung smartwatches have been certified by SafetyKorea. The publication says that these batteries belong to the Galaxy Watch 6 series.

The smaller of the two batteries, which is said to power the 40mm variant of Galaxy Watch 6 (SM-R93x) has a capacity of 300mAh. For comparison, the battery capacities of 40mm versions of Galaxy Watch 5 and Galaxy Watch 4 are 284mAh and 247mAh, respectively.

Though the difference among the battery capacities of these watches seems low, the newer model actually offers better endurance. Therefore, the Watch 6 will likely last longer than the Watch 5.

Further, the second certified battery has a capacity of 425mAh. This one is expected to back the 44mm variant of Galaxy Watch 6. For reference, the battery capacities of its predecessors are 410mAh (Watch 5) and 361mAh (Watch 4).

Apart from larger batteries, the Galaxy Watch 6 is also tipped to sport curved glass like the Google Pixel Watch. Since the wearable is getting a redesign after two generations, Samsung may also include other upgrades regarding which we are yet to learn.

A new leak has revealed some details regarding the design of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 series model. The new leak has hinted that the upcoming flagship smartwatch model from the company will feature a curved glass design.

The news arrives from known tipster Ice Universe who shared the information on Twitter. Apparently, the South Korean tech giant’s next gen smart wearable device will be bringing back the curved glass design that some of the earlier Galaxy Watch models featured in the past. Keep in mind that the curved aspect is only in regards to the glass panel over the display and likely not the display itself.

Unfortunately, the tipster has also added that there are no additional details that are currently available regarding the upcoming smartwatch. Although, we can expect more information to surface soon in the forms of leaks or rumors since the Galaxy Watch 6 is set to launch sometime later this year. We had recently also covered a patent from Samsung that detailed a Galaxy Watch that can project the display onto the users hand.

While there is a slight possibility that the brand could be looking to bring this feature onto its future smartwatches, it is highly improbable that the project smartwatch will be a part of the Galaxy Watch 6 series.
