Redmi Note 13 Series Roundup: Launch Date, Design, Specs, & Expected Price

The Redmi Note series is one of the most popular smartphone lineups worldwide. Earlier this month, the next-gen Redmi Notes were confirmed to debut soon. A few days back, the brand revealed that the launch is happening this week.

Apart from disclosing the launch date, Redmi has also been teasing the features of its upcoming phones. Other than official teasers, we have been learning about these devices from other sources, such as leaks and certifications.

Here in this article, we have compiled everything that’s known about the forthcoming Redmi Note 13 series in one place. Let’s go through the details.

Redmi Note 13 Series Launch Date

The Redmi Note 13 series is scheduled to launch in China on September 21. It will be announced at a conference that will begin at 7 PM GMT+8.

Officially, Redmi has confirmed three devices, namely Redmi Note 13 Pro, Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus, and Redmi Note 13 Yibo Edition. However, we are expecting the vanilla Redmi Note 13 as well, even though the information regarding it is bleak.

Either way, if you are interested in watching the event, it will be live-streamed on Weibo and other leading Chinese video streaming platforms.

Redmi Note 13 Series Design

The Redmi Note 13 series will arrive with a different design compared to the Redmi Note 12 lineup. The new design will not be totally different as the similarity between the previous-gen design will be there.

The Redmi Note 13 Pro will retain the glass sandwich build with a flat frame. However, the camera island will be inspired by the Xiaomi 13 series but with protruding modules.

On the other hand, the camera placement on the Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus will be similar to the Redmi Note 12 Turbo. But it will have a curved display and a faux leather back. The Redmi Note 13 Yibo will likely be based on it with some variations in terms of color and pattern.

Unfortunately, we have no details on the design of the Redmi Note 13.

Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus and Redmi Note 13 Pro

Redmi Note 13 Series Specifications

The Redmi Note 13 Pro and the Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus will flaunt 1.5K OLED displays. This makes them the first Redmi Notes to sport a screen with more than FHD+ resolution. Also, they will be the first Redmi Notes to come with an in-screen fingerprint sensor.

Additionally, the Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus will be the first Redmi Note to feature a curved display. Its screen will offer 1800 nits peak brightness level,1920Hz PWM dimming, and DC dimming. In other words, these handsets will arrive with multiple firsts in the display department.

Further, Redmi has officially confirmed the chips powering these phones. The MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Ultra and Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 will be present inside the Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus and Redmi Note 13 Pro, respectively.

Both Pro models will sport a custom version of the 200MP Samsung ISOCELL HP3 Discovery Edition sensor. However, for some reason, only the Pro Plus version will have OIS (Optical Image Stabilization).

As for energy, the Redmi Note 13 Pro will be backed by a 5,000mAh battery with support for 67W charging. While the Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus will house a 5,120mAh battery with 120W charging support.

Since the Redmi Note 13 Yibo is expected to be based on the Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus, it will have the same specs as the latter. Whereas, we don’t have any info on the Redmi Note 13.

Redmi Note 13 Series Expected Price

The Redmi Note 13 series may start around ¥1,200 (~$165) for the vanilla model. While the Pro and Pro Plus variants could begin at ¥1,700 (~$235) and ¥2,200 (~$300), respectively.

These prices are based on the launch pricing of the Redmi Note 12 series from 2022. So they may not be accurate as the new-gen models will come with many upgrades.

Since Xiaomi is known for disruptive pricing, especially in China we wouldn’t be surprised if the Redmi Note 13 series cost about the same as the Redmi Note 12 series or just a little more.

Analyst predicts Huawei’s comeback will hurt iPhone 15 sales

Apple started iPhone 15 pre-orders in over 40 countries last week and the smartphones are getting a lot of consumer attention like every year. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said the iPhone 15 Pro Max is stealing the spotlight while the vanilla models are barely on par with last year’s models. Kuo also predicted that while iPhone 15 pre-orders are strong, sales will be affected by Huawei’s return to the flagship market with its latest 5G phones.

In case you’re not aware, Huawei recently launched the Mate 60 series, which, against all odds, features a 5G Kirin 9000s chipset under the hood. The processor is reportedly manufactured by SMIC, Huawei’s own foundry. Huawei previously had to rely on Qualcomm’s 4G chipsets, which made its phones less desirable to consumers.

HUAWEI-MATE-60-pro
Huawei Mate 60 Pro

Kuo wrote in his blog that “Huawei’s comeback will inevitably impact the iPhone, but the extent of this impact remains to be seen”. He was careful to note that this impact won’t be seen on the iPhone 15 pre-orders in the Chinese market, since “those who pre-order iPhones are core users or Apple fans, not the target customers for the current Huawei phones”.

The Huawei Mate 60 and 60 Pro flagships also experienced significant demand in China, with reports suggesting long queues forming in front of retail stores. We expect the Huawei flagships could affect sales of the base iPhone 15 and even the Pro model in China, but the iPhone 15 Pro Max may be unaffected. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also notes that “demand for the iPhone 15 Pro is weaker than last year, with one possible reason being a shift of more premium users to the iPhone 15 Pro Max this year.”

Lastly, Kuo said he stands by his previous prediction that approximately 80 million units of the iPhone 15 will ship this year.

Rumor: Vivo X100 with MediaTek Dimensity 9300 will rival iPhone 15 Pro’s performance

The Vivo X100 series has long been in rumors and it seems we are finally nearing its launch. The expected Vivo X100 and X100 Pro models should launch sometime in November, however, an official confirmation is awaited. Both devices have been reported to bring some solid camera features and now a tipster says they will pack a chipset powerful enough to rival Apple’s A17 Pro SoC. Here are the details.

According to tipster Digital Chat Station, the Vivo X100 series will feature the Dimensity 9300 chipset under the hood, which is claimed to be MediaTek’s most powerful 5G chipset to date. Based on the information available thus far, MediaTek has packed a significant amount of firepower into the Dimensity 9300. It is expected to consist of only powerful cores, meaning the chipset could incorporate an octa-core CPU with a 4x Cortex-X4 + 4x Cortex-A720 architecture. It’s worth noting the chipset does not include a Cortex-A520.

Vivo-X90-series

Reportedly, the chip will be manufactured using the N4P process, a refined 4 nm next-gen solution that offers performance boosts and improved power efficiency compared to the N5 and N4 processes. Although the A17 Pro chip found inside Apple iPhone Pro models is manufactured on TSMC’s 3nm process, the Dimensity 9300 is said to be a worthy rival in terms of performance and efficiency.

Since there are no benchmarking scores available for the Dimensity 9300, it’s best to take these rumors with a pinch of salt. Regarding the Vivo X100 series, the company has confirmed that it will be unveiled before the end of this year, which is quite obvious. Rumors suggest a launch in November, so we should expect an official confirmation next month.

iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max Back Glass Repairs Just Got a Lot More Affordable

Smartphone prices are consistently increasing almost with each new model. Whereas flagship models once sold for between $699-$799, they now easily exceed $1000. Moreover, the sale price isn’t the only cost that’s going up. As you may know, flagship smartphones are quite fragile due to their sensitive and often glass-covered front and back. If something happens to them, repair costs can be expensive.

While this reality encourages users to safeguard their devices with cases and screen protectors, unexpected accidents can still happen. Recognizing this issue, Apple has surprised its customers by offering a partial solution. The company has significantly lowered repair fees for iPhone 15 Pro models with cracked back glass. Here are the details…

Apple’s New iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max Are More Repairable and Affordable

Apple recently introduced its new iPhone 15 series at the Wonderlust event. As with every year, the models that garnered the most attention were the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. However, these models stand out not just in terms of technical specifications, but also in internal design, compared to the standard members of the 15 series.

Apple iPhone 15 Pro Max repair

Apple specifically worked to make the devices easier to repair and opted for a more repairable internal design. The company particularly redesigned the frame, allowing for the back glass panel to be easily removed from the devices. As expected, repair costs have changed with easy to repair design.

Apple has updated its U.S. website to reveal the repair fees for the iPhone 15 models. For back glass damage, the company will charge $169 for the iPhone 15 Pro and $199 for the iPhone 15 Pro Max. In contrast, the repair fees for the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are set at $499 and $549, respectively.

This means there is a 63.4% decrease in repair costs between the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro models, and a 63.5% decrease between the iPhone 14 Pro Max and iPhone 15 Pro Max. As a user of the iPhone 14 Pro Max, I’m disappointed that this change came a year late, but ultimately, the fact that repairs will now be much cheaper is great news for all of us.

YouTuber posts video of what appears to be a foldable iPhone, but it’s too early to get excited

Rumors of a foldable iPhone have been around for years, but there is no proof that Apple is making one. However, YouTuber Lewis Hilsenteger (aka Unbox Therapy) recently posted a video of what seemed like a foldable iPhone prototype. The device had a triple rear camera bump like the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, and it folded in half like the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5.

Clamshell iPhone Foldable

But on closer inspection, it was clear that the device was not a real Apple product. It’s a feature phone styled to look like a clamshell iPhone. The hinge was also low-quality, and the “cover display” was only about the same size as the camera island. This is in stark contrast to foldable Android phones, which have much larger cover displays.

It is possible that the device Hilsenteger received was a mockup created by a third-party company. However, it is also possible that it was just a hoax. So, is there any chance that Apple is actually working on a foldable iPhone?

Foldable Apple iPhone

It is possible, but there is no evidence to support it. However, the company has reportedly filed patents for the foldable screen tech and or screen protection for foldable iPhones / iPads.

If Apple is working on a foldable iPhone, it is likely to be at least a few years away from release. In the meantime, Android manufacturers have been churning out foldable phones at a rapid pace. Samsung’s latest foldables are the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5, and other companies like Motorola and Oppo have also released new folding phones. It remains to be seen if Apple will ever release a foldable iPhone, but for now, it’s just a rumor.

Tesla’s 50,000th Supercharger Looks Stunning in Ultra Red

Tesla recently set up its 50,000th Supercharger, and it’s making sure people notice. Unlike the standard white and red units, this one is coated in Ultra Red, the same color used for Tesla’s high-end Model S and Model X vehicles. The charger is labeled “No 50,000” and sits at 1851 Freedom Way in Roseville, California.

It’s essentially a standard supercharger, but with a more standout design

While the special color and label are eye-catching, the charger is functionally the same as others, offering the usual 250-kilowatt power output. Even though the charger itself doesn’t have extra bells and whistles, its installation does point to bigger things.

Tesla

Firstly, Tesla’s network is the largest among all fast-charging setups, with over 5,000 stations around the globe. The company shows no signs of slowing down; it’s not only increasing the number of chargers but also working to make them compatible with non-Tesla vehicles. A pilot program is in place, and other car makers are starting to adopt Tesla’s NACS charging connectors in North America.

But Tesla isn’t alone in expanding charging options. Other car makers and independent companies are also getting in on the action, working on faster, more reliable charging solutions. So while Tesla’s 50,000th Supercharger is a milestone, it’s also a signal to the industry: the competition is heating up, and staying still is not an option. The 50,000th Supercharger may not offer extra speed or cheaper costs, but it’s a symbol of Tesla’s ambition and the growing competition in the EV charging market. In other words, it’s not just a milestone for Tesla but a sign of where the industry is headed.
