The data also reveals that Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) are the preferred choice among Chinese consumers, outselling Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs) by more than 2:1. In May, BEV sales exceeded 400,000, capturing a significant 24 percent share of the total market.

The year-to-date results further reinforce China’s EV prowess, with over 2.5 million new plug-in electric cars registered in the country so far. This accounts for approximately 35 percent of the total volume and represents an impressive 41 percent increase compared to the previous year. BYD, a Chinese automaker, emerged as the clear winner in the electric vehicle market. The BYD Qin Plus family of BEV and PHEV versions dominated the top-selling models list for May, followed closely by the BYD Song Plug plug-in family. Tesla’s Model Y ranked as the most popular all-electric car in the country.

BYD’s exceptional performance extended to the brand level, as it emerged as the most popular brand and automotive group in China’s EV market. With a share of 36.0 percent, BYD surpassed its competitors, including Tesla, GAC Aion, SAIC-GM-Wuling, and Li Auto.

Back in May, Oppo launched the K11x smartphone in China which closely resembles the OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite. The brand is now preparing to debut the Oppo K11, which is quite similar to the recently launched OnePlus Nord CE 3. This device has now been spotted on Geekbench revealing key specs and performance details.

According to the Geekbench test result, the upcoming OPPO K11 (PJC110) will be powered by the Snapdragon 782G processor. It will have a base clock speed of 1.80GHz and a maximum clock speed of 2.71GHz. The phone will offer up to 12GB of RAM and will run on Android 13. In the benchmark test, it scored 1126 and 2924 points in the single-core and multi-core tests respectively.

He claimed that Twitter could potentially witness an “all-time high device user seconds usage” in the coming week, indicating a strong user base. Apple has been working on its next-generation Apple Silicon chips, and now it looks like the Cupertino-based tech giant is all set to release devices powered by the new Apple M3 chip in the coming months.

According to the latest report from Mark Gurman in his Power On newsletter for Bloomberg, he says that Apple could launch new Mac devices powered by the M3 chip in October this year.

He adds that Apple could launch the new iMac and 13-inch MacBook Air, and MacBook Pro, all powered by the M3 processor. It may seem that M3-powered devices are coming too soon, especially with M2 Ultra-powered devices getting launched last month. If the speculations are correct, the M2 lineup of chips got delayed because of supply chain issues.

As for the Apple Silicon M3 processor, the chip is expected to have similar core counts as its predecessor but with enhanced performance and efficiency as the chipset is reportedly being manufactured using the new 3-nanometer (3nm) fabrication process.

It is not yet confirmed if the company plans to hold a launch event for the new M3 chip and devices powered by it or if the company will make an announcement thorugh a press release. Whatever the case, we should know about it in the coming weeks.

Russia Bans Apple Devices for Government Employees Amid Spying Allegations

The ban comes in the wake of serious allegations made by Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) in early June. The FSB claimed to have discovered a large-scale “spying operation by US intelligence agencies” involving Apple devices. According to the FSB, numerous iPhones, including those used by Russian diplomatic missions in NATO countries, were allegedly infected with monitoring software. Furthermore, the FSB accused Apple of collaborating closely with US signal intelligence to provide agents with an extensive range of control tools. Apple swiftly denied these allegations, emphasizing its commitment to user privacy and asserting that it has never cooperated with any government to create backdoors in its products.

This latest move by the Russian government also aligns with a broader effort to decrease reliance on foreign technology. In line with this objective, President Vladimir Putin issued a decree last year, mandating institutions involved in “critical information infrastructure” to transition to domestically developed software by 2025.

This ban follows a series of actions that have strained Apple’s relationship with Russia. Featuring a 10.1-inch screen size, the Acer Iconia Tab M10 offers a big screen ideal for multimedia consumption and content creation. The IPS LCD panel offers a resolution of 1920 x 1200 pixels and a 60Hz refresh rate. The Iconia Tab M10 runs on the Android 12 OS.

The MediaTek Kompanio 500 chipset is what powers the device. It is accompanied by 4 GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 64 GB / 128 GB of storage. There is a microSD card slot onboard for additional storage. It packs a 6,000mAh battery, but there is no word on its charging capabilities.

The Iconia Tab M10 has a 5-megapixel camera on the front. On its back, it has a 13-megapixel camera without a flash. The tablet incorporates sensors, such as an accelerometer, ambient light sensor, and gyro sensor, enabling intuitive and interactive usage. Additionally, the Tab M10 comes with built-in dual speakers for an enhanced audio experience. The tablet measures 8.6mm in thickness and weighs 460 grams.

Earlier this month, FiiO, the company known for making audiophile products, launched its new budget true wireless earphones in the market, dubbed FiiO FW3 HiFi.

Today, the company has added a new color option, White, which is now available for purchase in China for the price of 499 yuan, which roughly converts to $70.

The FiiO FW3 HiFi TWS earbuds come with a 10mm carbon-based dynamic driver and have support for Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity. Along with the Bluetooth receiver chip, there’s also an AKM “Velvet Sound” AK4332 chip in each earbud that combines DAC and a headphone amplifier.

The earphones are powered by the Qualcomm QCC5141, which adopts dual DSP and dual-core CPU architecture for the stability of Bluetooth audio and system operation. The company is also boasting about Snapdragon Sound certification, but it appears that there’s no support for aptX Lossless codec.

It also comes with a low-latency game mode, greatly reducing transmission delay. They have a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of up to 106dB, a distortion rate of as low as 96 dB, and a dynamic range of 102 dB. They are rated to last 7 hours on a single charge, and the charging case provides additional 21 hours of battery life.

FiiO’s Music application allows users to adjust a 10-band parametric EQ along with allowing users to adjust left/right balance as well as select their preferred DAC filter and Bluetooth codec. However, iPhone users are locked into AAC, but Android users can access the FW3’s support for LDAC, LHDC, aptX Adaptive, aptX, and SBC.

Speculations are rife that some of these brands are gearing up to launch budget-friendly tablets in the home market. A new tablet from Oppo has now received radio certification in China. In all likelihood, it could be called the Oppo Pad Air 2 when it arrives on the market.

OPPO Pad Air 2 August launch expected

As can be seen in the above screengrab, the model number of the upcoming Oppo tablet for the Chinese market is OPD2301. The listing reveals support for dual-band Wi-Fi and Bluetooth but has no other information about its core specifications. Therefore, it is unclear whether the device will offer 5G connectivity.

In a recent leak, tipster Digital Chat Station hinted that the Oppo Pad Air 2 could be equipped with an 8,000mAh battery. The tablet is expected to face competition from the Vivo Pad Air 2, Redmi Pad 2, and Realme Pad 2 in the Chinese market.

It appears that Oppo will be holding a major launch event in China in August. The event is likely to see the arrival of the Oppo Find N3 foldable phone and the Oppo Watch 5 series. The brand is likely to announce the Oppo Pad Air 2 at the same event.

The foldable phone is expected to come with key features, such as a 3.36GHz Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, 50W wireless charging, a periscope zoom camera, and an IP rating. As per a recent leak, the Oppo Watch 5, which is codenamed Comet,” will have a curved-edge square display, a 570mAh battery, and eSIM support. It will arrive in black carbon fibre and white shades.

The Realme Pad 2 will sport an 11.5-inch LCD display, which offers a 2K resolution of 2000 x 1200 pixels, an adaptive refresh rate of 40Hz / 60Hz / 120Hz and 10-bit colors. To recall, the original Realme Pad featured a smaller 10.4-inch LCD screen. Chinese rugged smartphone manufacturer AGM has unveiled a new budget smartphone in China. The AGM Z1, as it is called, is powered by the UNISOC T606 processor with up to 8GB RAM and 128GB storage.

The UNISOC T606 chipset is an entry-level octa-core processor with two big ARM Cortex A75 cores @ 1.6GHz and six power-efficient ARM Cortex A55 cores at up to 1.6GHz. The chipset includes an LTE modem, an LPDDR4X 1600 MHz memory controller, an ARM Mali G57 MP1 GPU @ 650MHz, and a tri-core ISP. The UNISOC T606 is manufactured via the 12nm process by TSMC.

The AGM Z1 smartphone is available in two color variants namely night gray and dark sky blue. The smartphone is 8.55mm thick and features a 6.52-inch HD+ IPS screen with 1600 x 720 pixels resolution. It also weighs just 190g. The screen has a refresh rate of 90Hz while its 4,900mAh battery supports 10W charging.

In terms of camera setup, the AGM Z1 has a 50MP main camera, an 8MP front camera, and a 5cm microlens. The smartphone runs on Android 13 out of the box and supports fingerprint recognition and face unlocking. It is also equipped with a 3.5mm audio jack and dual standby and stereo speakers.

The AGM Z1 smartphone is available on e-commerce platform JD.com for 599 yuan (~$64). The price will increase to 699 yuan ($98) after the initial sales. Global availability and pricing information for the AGM Z1 smartphone are lacking at this time.

The Oppo A58 4G was recently spotted on Thailand’s NBTC certification website confirming its moniker. The device has also cleared BIS, FCC, TUV Rheinland, and TKDN certifications. Now, it has also emerged on the Bluetooth SIG database, hinting at an imminent launch.

The listing reveals that the OPPO A58 4G (model number CPH2577) will support Bluetooth 5.3. The certification does not mention any other details about the device, so let’s look at what’s known so far.

Oppo A58 (4G) specs

Based on FCC documents, the Oppo A58 4G has been revealed to have a slim 7.99mm thickness and a weight of 191 grams. It packs a sizable 5,000mAh battery with support for 33W fast charging.

The documents also disclose that the Oppo A58 will come with Android 13 and ColorOS 13.1 preinstalled. While further details about the phone have yet to be disclosed, it seems that the device will soon be officially released in markets such as India, Indonesia, and Thailand, as it has already obtained multiple certifications.

The Oppo A58 5G comes with an entry-level Diemsnsity 700 chipset, so we can expect something similar to power the 4G variant.
