Volkswagen ID.3 Concept EV With a 12-Inch Infotainment Display Announced

Volkswagen has introduced the ID.3 concept electric vehicle with a 12-inch display. The ID.3 is expected to enter production in 2023 while its release date is Q4 of 2023. The concept EV also has an expansive boot space compared to its present sibling.

Most design changes for the ID.3 are in the car’s interior as well as software improvements to boost its performance. Apart from the infotainment display, the ID.3’s interior features a removable boot floor, a central console with dual cup holders, and an overall eco-conscious design. Volkswagen says the ID.3 concept has a more simplified charging process with Plug & Charge and Route Planner tool improvements. The company also says that the delivery of the EV will be carbon neutral.
Volkswagen says the vehicle’s interior is made from partly sustainable materials and does not contain any animal-derived material.

Volkswagen says the car is a culmination of suggestions from customers. With the earliest deliveries of the ID.3 set for the last quarter of 2023, Volkswagen is ramping up its capacity, and its main plant in Dresden, Germany will join two others in the production of the model. The EV offers new convenience and assistance systems for enhanced automated driving. It uses swarm data in the latest Travel Assist. Customers in Germany can pre-order the ID.3 in four variants – Life, Business, Style, Max, and Tour since December 1. The starting price for the ID.3 is €43,995.

Volkswagen ID.3 Concept EV

The Volkswagen ID.3 has had a great reception in Germany since the company opened pre-orders on December 1. Chip shortages have also affected the outlook of deliveries for the ID.3. Volkswagen says that due to the current supply situation and existing order backlogs, a Q4, 2023 delivery date is the most feasible. Due to the lag between order and delivery, Volkswagen says that customers will receive the enhanced ID.3 models that may differ from what was requested. However, any of such differences will be to the benefit of the customer.

EU Reportedly Puts a Restriction on Meta From Running Ads Based Personal Interest

According to a secret EU privacy authority ruling, Meta will only be permitted to conduct advertising based on personal data with users’ approval, a person with knowledge of the situation said on Tuesday, dealing a blow to the US social network. Meta will not be allowed to use the user’s data for any purpose without their consent. Meta has already been accused many times of leaking tons of users of data on the internet.

The European Data Protection Board’s (EDPB) binding decision has been given a month to be considered by the Irish data protection body, which regulates Meta because its European headquarters are in Dublin. The insider, who requested anonymity due to the delicate nature of the matter, stated that the EDPB will probably require the Irish organisation to levy sanctions.

“Personalized ads are no longer subject to a yes/no choice; the consent requirement has simply been moved to the terms and conditions. Not only is this unfair, but it is also obviously illegal. No other business that we are aware of has attempted to disregard the GDPR in such a haughty manner, “in a statement, Schrems.

According to him, the EDPB’s decision requires Meta to give users access to a version of all apps that does not utilise personal data for advertisements, albeit the firm would still be free to use non-personal data to tailor advertisements or only request users’ consent. The General Data Protection Regulation, a historic set of privacy regulations for the 27-nation EU, became effective in 2018.

According to the GDPR, there is no hierarchy among this legal basis, and none should be seen as superior to any other. “GDPR allows for a range of legal bases under which data can be processed, beyond permission or the fulfilment of a contract,” the Meta representative stated. Its draught decisions for WhatsApp and Instagram are focused on the legality and transparency of processing for behavioural advertising, while its decisions for Meta’s parent company Facebook and Instagram are focused on processing for service development. Helena Brown, head of data & privacy at the London-based legal firm Addleshaw Goddard, suggested that Meta may need to modify its business strategy.

Apple is being sued by two women over AirTag stalking

While the Apple AirTag was introduced as a product to help improve quality of life, there have already been various cases in which it was used for nefarious purposes. Now, two women are apparently suing the company for the grievances they have faced over this tracking product.

The Cupertino based giant is facing a lawsuit from two women that have faced stalking by the use of AirTag. Since its launch, the smart tracking device has been used to track victims and even used by car thieves and others. Apple has tried to fix this issue multiple times but people are still using it for malicious purposes. This time, two women have filed for a lawsuit after the AirTag was used to track them by their former partners. According to the legal documents, the device was used to stalk the two victims and that the company did “little, if anything, to swiftly warn consumers if they are being monitored.”

Apple

One of the people affected by this incident stated that her ex boyfriend had planted an AirTag in the wheel of her car and was able to figure out her location. This person then used the location information to harass her. The other woman filed the lawsuit after her husband put an AirTag in her child’s backpack to track her. So now, the two ladies are suing the iPhone maker and are seeking an unspecified amount of monetary damages and are accusing Apple of launching a dangerous product.

New Update of Winamp Adds New Features, Fixed Known Bugs and Add Support for Music NFTs

NFTs are no doubt one of the most famous things on social media and the internet. Literally, almost every user is aware of this. Many artists sold their original NFTs at very sky-high prices, which one couldn’t even expect. Now, a new updated version of the Windows-98 era’s music player has added support for Music NFTs. Yes, Winamp’s new update has added support for Music NFTs along with some bug fixes and newly added features.

“The most recent version of Winamp enables music lovers to connect their Metamask wallet to Winamp using Brave, Chrome, or Firefox. Then, it links their preferred music NFTs to their dependable player “The business stated in a press statement that was given to Ars. “Winamp is introducing this new capability for Ethereum and Polygon/Matic protocols, and allows audio and video content distributed under both the ERC-721 and ERC-1155 specifications.”

Winamp

Winamp’s current goals (creator platform, NFT marketplace) come into conflict with its actual shipping product during this circumstantial phase (a music player whose cultural relevance peaked during the George W. Bush administration). According to the release notes, an updated rendering engine for Winamp’s in-app browser would be necessary in order to immediately display webpages required to download these NFT playlists since the existing rendering engine is based on Internet Explorer 10.

Fans of the original Winamp will still find a lot to enjoy here, and it’s wonderful to see that the modernising efforts made in the 5.9 version are paying off in the form of quicker updates. A “memory footprint decrease,” an increase in streaming audio bandwidth, an upgrade to OpenSSL 3.0.5, and a few more upgrades for the essential codecs and other programmes that Winamp depends on are among the numerous changes included in the new edition. NFT support can be disabled either during the installation process or after Winamp is set up, according to a post by Winamp developer Eddy Richman (also known as “DJ Egg” on the Winamp forums).

Global Smartphone Production Drops in Q3 2022 Due to Inventory Pressure and Global Economic Headwinds

Global smartphone production declined in the third quarter of this year i.e. the period between July to September. Major brands manufactured 289 million units of smartphones in Q3 compared to 307 million units in Q2. This has resulted in to 0.9 percent quarterly decline and an 11 percent year-on-year basis. The report comes from Trendforce’s latest research on the global smartphone market.

Trendforce says that smartphone production exhibited extremely weak demand. This is because companies prioritized inventory rather than introducing new devices. Brands also lowered their production targets due to global economic headwinds.

As per the report, Samsung led the smartphone production market with a 22.2 percent share and 64.2 million units. Apple is the second in the list with  17.6 percent share and 50.8 million devices produced. Xiaomi bags the third spot with a 13.1 percent share and it also includes the company’s sub-brands Redmi, POCO, and Black Shark. OPPO including Realme and OnePlus is fourth with 11.6 percent share. Vivo completes the list of top five with an 8.5 percent market share in smartphone production.

Trendforce also estimates the results for the fourth quarter of 2022 i.e. October to December. Apple will led the market with a 24.6 percent share as the Cupertino-based tech giant is said to ramp up manufacturing iPhones in time for the holiday period. Every fourth new smartphone out of the factory is said to be iPhone. Meanwhile, Samsung will drop to second place as it will reportedly scale back production to push already manufactured devices. The report also adds that Chinese brands will register a mostly flat growth in terms of device production in the fourth quarter. Additionally, the companies are also preparing for a future without US technology like Vivo’s ISP, Xiaomi’s in-house charging chip, and OPPO’s MariSilicon X NPU.

Apple will buy chips made in the US by TSMC: Tim Cook

A couple of days ago, we had reported on rumors that Apple will source its chipsets from within the US. These chipsets would’ve been made by TSMC from its new semiconductor facility in Arizona. Now, the company has confirmed this news.

The Cupertino based giant’s CEO Tim Cook spoke this morning in Arizona and confirmed that the company is planning on buying chips that were manufactured in the US by the world’s largest contract chipmaker, TSMC. For those unaware, the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company has recently setup its multi billion dollar semiconductor plant in Arizona and is set to begin production by the year 2024.

Apple

Furthermore, the iPhone maker is already one of the biggest clients of the chipmaking giant. This move to source from within the US also benefits Apple amidst the ongoing tensions between Taiwan and China. The latter has been eyeing the former, although, the US has promised to defend the nation. But, military conflicts will make it harder for the company to source its chips from the region. Thus, sourcing it from its home market will help secure its chip supply chain.

According to Tim Cook, “And now, thanks to the hard work of so many people, these chips can be proudly stamped Made in America. This is an incredibly significant moment.” TSMC is spending around 12 billion US Dollars on its Arizona plant, which is also expected to begin the production of advanced 5nm process based chips by 2024. However, it even reportedly has plans to begin 3nm production to meet Apple’s demand as well.

Oppo Reno 8 Pro House of the Dragon Limited Edition Set Sale Date Revealed

Back in October, the Oppo Reno 8 Pro House of the Dragon Limited Edition Set was unveiled in India. Almost two months later, the company has now finally revealed the availability of this special version of the handset.

The device will be available for pre-order starting this week, followed by sale next week. Let’s take a look at the details shared by the brand.

Oppo Reno 8 Pro House of the Dragon Limited Edition Set

Oppo has confirmed that the Oppo Reno 8 Pro House of the Dragon Limited Edition Set is an India exclusive. In other words, this version of the smartphone will not be sold officially in other regions. Therefore, for most people, the only way to get their hands on it is by importing it.

Talking about the cost, the special edition set is officially priced at ₹45,999. It costs the same as the regular version of the handset. It will be sold via Flipkart.

The device will be up for pre-order from December 8. It will be available for purchase starting December 13.

We are not sure why Oppo chose to release the House of the Daragon-themed Reno 8 Pro in India. The TV show is more popular in the western markets.

Above all, HBO, the original television network for the show, doesn’t have its direct presence in India anymore. Therefore, in this region, the TV series is actually streaming on Disney+ Hotstar, a streaming platform owned by The Walt Disney Company.

Oppo has partnered with Disney multiple times in the past for limited-edition smartphones. Hence, it’s good to see the company collaborating with Warner Bros. Discovery, the parent company of HBO, for a change. But the target market for the product doesn’t seem right.

[Update] OnePlus 11R live shots reveal back & front cameras, curved display

[UPDATE]
Since publishing this story, the source has made a correction, stating that this (OnePlus Udon) could actually be the OnePlus 11R rather than the OnePlus 11. This makes more sense than the claim of the device being the OnePlus 11, as it has a mismatched camera array when compared to the OnePlus 11 renders leaked by credible sources.

Original story continues…

OnePlus is gearing up to launch a new flagship smartphone soon called the OnePlus 11. While the company has not given any hints about this smartphone yet, multiple leaks have emerged revealing the specs and design details of the device.

Alleged OnePlus 11 rear camera module

In a new report by MySmartPrice, the back camera array of the device has been unveiled in a closeup shot. According to the OnePlus 11 camera module’s leaked live image, the new OnePlus flagship (codenamed OnePlus Udon) will have a camera module that resembles the OnePlus 10 Pro. This indicates that there are four circular cutouts in the device, three of which will house the cameras, and the fourth of which would house the LED flash.

Alleged OnePlus 11 front camera

Oddly, the spacing between these cutouts looks quite cramped when compared to the previous render leaks of the OnePlus 11. Other than the rear camera array, the report also has a partial shot of the front panel of the alleged OnePlus 11, with a centered punch hole cutout for the front camera, along with a visible curved display. The report also claims that the smartphone will have the Alert Slider onboard.

OnePlus 11 leaked renders

In terms of core specs, the OnePlus 11 has already been confirmed to be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. Artificial intelligence (AI) technology is advancing quickly. Until recently, many of the developments in this field didn’t have a major impact on people’s lives. However, that is starting to change, and AI is beginning to make our lives easier in many ways. One example of this is ChatGPT, a chatbot developed by OpenAI. ChatGPT has quickly gained over 1 million users since its launch just a week ago. It can do many things, such as write computer code, create complex essays, decorate your home, and even come up with winning marketing ideas. In the near future, ChatGPT could potentially replace Google and even some human workers.

ChatGPT was created by OpenAI, which developed Dall-E

You’ve all heard of Dall-E, the AI that creates photos based on your descriptions. ChatGPT, another AI developed by OpenAI, has been equally successful. We wanted to put this AI to the test, so we asked it to write about why Android is better than iOS from an Android user’s perspective. Here’s what it came up with:

Android vs. iOS: Why Android is the Better Choice by ChatGPT

As an Android user, I have always believed that my operating system offers more benefits and advantages than Apple’s iOS. Here are just a few reasons why I think Android is the better choice:

  1. Customization: One of the biggest advantages of Android is its high level of customization. With Android, you can personalize almost every aspect of your phone, from the home screen and app icons to the lock screen and system settings. This allows you to make your phone look and feel exactly the way you want it to. In contrast, iOS offers very little customization and is often criticized for its lack of flexibility.
  2. Choice: Another advantage of Android is the vast number of options available. With Android, you have the choice of a wide range of phones from different manufacturers, with a variety of sizes, designs, and features. This means you can easily find the perfect phone for your needs and budget. In contrast, iOS is only available on Apple’s iPhone, which limits your choices and can be more expensive.
  3. Openness: Android is an open-source operating system, which means that developers can create and distribute apps without having to go through a strict approval process. This has led to a vibrant and diverse app ecosystem, with a wide range of apps and games to choose from. In contrast, iOS is a closed system, which can limit the creativity and innovation of developers.
  4. Features: Android also offers a number of features that are not available on iOS. For example, Android has a built-in file manager, which allows you to easily access and manage your files. It also has a split-screen mode, which lets you run two apps at the same time. Additionally, Android has more built-in gesture controls, such as the ability to swipe to access the camera or turn on the flashlight.

In conclusion, as an Android user, I believe that my operating system offers a superior experience compared to iOS. It is more customizable, offers more choices, is more open, and has a wider range of features. These are just a few of the reasons why I think Android is the better choice for anyone looking for a versatile and user-friendly smartphone operating system.

As you can see, ChatGPT was able to fulfill the given task quickly and easily. To use ChatGPT, you need to have an account with OpenAI. While this may sound great, it’s important to note that many jobs, including writing jobs, could potentially be replaced by AIs like ChatGPT. Imagine a world where all the news you read, all the buildings designed, and all the chipsets created are the work of artificial intelligence. It seems this world is not far from us…
