Huami’s Amazfit Health Band 1S with continuous heart rate monitor, ECG sensor launched

Huami has got a towering reputation for releasing smartwatches and fitness tracking bands that are not only affordably priced but are durable and efficient in performing the functions they serve to perform. The Chinese company that shot to limelight with the manufacture of Xiaomi Mi Band series, today held its 2018 product launch conference and the main highlight was the Amazfit Verge smartwatch. That wasn’t the only product the company released as the Amazfit Health Band 1S also made its grand entrance during the launch.

The Amazfit Health Band 1S is a successor to the Amazfit Health Band which was launched in April last year. The new model comes with exactly the same design as its predecessor but the features are upgraded with the addition of a couple of new ones. Despite the improved features, the Amazfit Health Band 1S packs the same 699 yuan ($101) price tag.

The wearable gadget uses a black wristband with a pure black screen to maintain a well-integrated design. The display is a 0.42-inch OLED screen. The design of the wristband includes an anti-lost buckle. The straps is made from skin-friendly, thermoplastic elastomer material.

One of the major features of the first-gen Amazfit Health Band is the built-in ECG sensor which can track data and display it on its own display or on a connected smartphone. Huami disclosed that after the launch of the first-generation health band, the company’s cloud platform collected more than 5 million ECG data, and the symptoms of atrial fibrillation confirmed by doctors exceeded 14,000. On the basis of retaining the classic ECG chip, the Amazfit Band 1S joins Huami’s new generation of high-precision optical sensors, and the accuracy is increased to 98%. At the same time, Huami also upgraded the Band to include the new AI neural network which ensures the band delivers continuous active monitoring rather than a passive one.

Other features on the Huami Health Band 1S includes a PPG photoelectric sensor that monitors the heart rate and sleep pattern. The health band detects variation in heart rate and notifies the wearer promptly. It also features a low energy-Bluetooth 4.0 through which it is paired with a smartphone via an app and the fitness data can then be accessed on the phone. Furthermore, it features an IP67 dust and waterproof certification and is kept on by a 95mAH battery. The battery can be charged from zero to 100% in just 2.5 hours and can last up to 7 days on a full charge. The fitness band is ultra-light, weighing just 10g

Huami announces Huangshan No. 1, the world’s first AI-powered wearable chipset

Today, at a launch event, along with Amazfit Verge Smartwatch and Amazfit Health Band 1S, Xiaomi-backed Huami also launched Huangshan No. 1 — the world’s first artificial intelligence powered wearable chipset.

The Huangshan No. 1 (MHS001) is the world’s first wearable processor that comes integrated with AI neural network. It features four core artificial intelligence engines — cardiac biometrics engine, ECG, ECG Pro, and Hearth Rhythm Abnormality Monitoring Engine.

It is also claimed to the world’s first RISC-V open source instruction set wearable processor. The company says that the chipset has three characteristics — it’s AI drive, provides lightning performance, and has minimal power consumption.

Huami adds that it also has Always-On functionality and the chipset AI is better than the traditional artificial intelligence. The company also claims that the Huangshan No. 1 is 38 percent more efficient than the Arm Cortex-M4 architecture processor.

It supports real-time movement tracking, real-time biometric identification, real-time warning, among a huge array of functions. The company says that with this AI-powered wearable chipset, the deep learning technology has landed on a smart wearable device for the first time.

While Huami has announced the Huangshan No. 1 Smart Wearable chipset, the wearable devices powered by this chipset will be launched in the first half of 2019.

Samsung is all set to launch a mid-range phone on Oct. 11 that may come equipped with four cameras. It is speculated that this phone could be arriving as Samsung’s new strategy of launching mid-range phones with flagship specifications. One of the recent tweets from a reliable tipster from China has hinted that an upcoming Galaxy A series phone may feature Snapdragon 845 chipset.

The South Korean tech giant has been launching flagship phones under Galaxy S and Galaxy Note series since several years. As far as the quad camera phone arriving on Oct. 11, the tipster claims that it will be the first Galaxy P series phone from Samsung. As of this writing, there is no confirmation on the specs of the Galaxy P.

Last month, Realme launched its second phone – the Realme 2. The phone got a lot of criticism for being a downgrade from the Realme 1 instead of a more powerful successor. The manufacturer decided to surprise us by teasing a “Pro” version of the phone which will launch later this month. With less than two weeks before the announcement, the Realme 2 Pro has surfaced in an official video ad showing off its design.

The video advert actually is sort of a motivational message tied to the Realme brand but the Realme 2 Pro surfaces more than a few times in the video. First, the phone will be coming with a notch like the Realme 2 but the new water-drop style notch like that of the OPPO A7X.

The Realme 2 Pro will also have dual rear cameras with a bump. There is an LED flash flanking the cameras on the right while a fingerprint scanner sits in the middle. There is also the “realme” branding at the bottom of the phone.

The back of the phone seems to be covered in glass and there is a metal frame around it. We can also make out a 3.5mm audio jack, USB port, and speaker grille at the bottom of the phone. From the video we can tell the phone will come in silver, blue, and black.

It is almost certain that Xiaomi will launch the Redmi Note 6 Pro soon even though the exact date is yet to be confirmed. We just don’t know how soon but Gizmochina’s online shop Giztop seems to give us a clue that the device will launch pretty soon. Huami is one of the popular makers of smartwatches in China and the company has just released a couple of new wearables in the country. The highlight announcement is the brand new Huami Amazfit Verge smartwatch which comes at a really competitive price tag. The watch has essential features such as all day heart rate monitoring, abnormal heart rate notification, NFC with payment support and GPS.

Huami says that the 1.3-inch circular display (43mm diameter) size is made to suit the hands of most of its users. The watch is made out of reinforced plastic and comes with a removable silicone strap. It weighs just about 46 grams. The display is an AMOLED panel with 360 x 360 pixel resolution covered with Gorilla Glass 3 on top with a coating to avoid fingerprint smudges on the screen. As for the other specs, the wearable comes with GPS+GLONASS support along with 11 different sports modes, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0+BLE. Note that the watch is IP68 certified, but you can’t swim with it. The watch is powered by a dual core 1.2GHz processor with 512MB RAM and 4 GB ROM. Along with the usual sensors, there are additional geomagnetic, and air pressure sensors on board.

The Amazfit Verge’s biggest selling point is its all day heart rate monitoring feature. The company reveals that the watch comes with a high precision optical sensor with 98% accuracy and up to 80% reduced power consumption. The watch can detect and inform the user about abnormal heart rate patterns too.

Another highlight feature of the watch is support for NFC and NFC based payments. The Verge supports bus cards in 165 cities which covers over 20,000 public transport routes. Further, you can make payments too, with support for AliPay and even UnionPay (coming in November).

The Amazfit Verge comes with 13 built-in watch faces. Out of these, three have been made in collaboration with San Francisco based Territory Studio. You can even add custom watch faces. It also features Xiao AI assistant and comes with support for MIJIA smart home app. So you can control around 11 different types of smart home products right from your smartwatch.

Huami claims that the Amazfit Verge will last for 5 days on a single charge under normal usage. But if you are going to keep your phone connected (WeChat and other app notifications supported) as well as use its sports mode on a daily basis, expect the battery life to drop to some extent.

The Verge is priced at 799 Yuan ($116) and goes on sale on September 17 (today) via JingDong and Tmall in Sky Gray color.

Xiaomi has finally pulled off the chords and has teased the Mi Max 3 for the launch in India. Xiaomi Mi Max 3 is the manufacturer’s largest phone with the 6.9-inch of immersive display and gigantic 5500 mAh battery on the back. Apple took the wraps off its latest range of iPhones comprising the iPhone XS, XS Max and XR just last week. The iPhone XR is a trimmed down version of the XS and XS Max and thus has an “affordable” pricing when compared to the two XS models. This article is focused on the iPhone XS whose photography prowess has been demonstrated in a video released by Apple.

Apple iPhones are not popular for their batteries but their photographic capabilities. The YouTube video gives a first look at the stunning video shot on the new iPhone XS. The video is also said to be the highest quality video of any smartphone and we haven’t seen any better. In one of the experiment, water, fire, metal and light were used to create mesmerizing scenes using 4K, Slo-mo, and Time-lapse. Apple used a mixture of soapy water and corn syrup, as well as glass and ink to create some psychedelic images. In the past couple of weeks, a new Redmi phone has been in the news. That phone is the Redmi Note 6 Pro and it will take over from the Redmi Note 5 Pro as the king of the Redmi series.

Just this morning, images showing the specs of the phone leaked on the web and it revealed a couple of key specs. Now we have gotten exclusive info which makes us believe the launch of the phone is very close.

According to an insider, the Redmi Note 6 Pro has begun shipping to major sellers and stock should be ready by tomorrow. This sort of explains how those images showing the phone’s specs came to be. We want to believe they originated from a seller who already received supply.

Seeing as the Xiaomi has an event on Wednesday, September 19. We believe they will most likely announce the Redmi Note 6 Pro alongside the Mi 8 Youth and Mi 8 Screen Fingerprint edition rather than having a separate launch for it.

Xiaomi is busying teasing on the Mi 8 Youth Edition and Mi 8 Screen Fingerprint Edition smartphones that are poised to go official on Wednesday. Coming October, the Chinese manufacturer will be debuting the highly anticipated Mi MIX 3 flagship phone. An official image and a leaked video that have surfaced in the recent past have also revealed that the Mi MIX 3 will be sporting a manual slider design. In the previous week, a leaked photo showing the front panel of the Mi MIX 3 had surfaced on Weibo. Today, new shots of the tempered protector of the smartphone have surfaced online to tease its design.

The MI MIX 3 screen protector images show that the handset will be equipped with slimmer side bezels. The chin of the device is not as slim as the bezels present on the side bezels, but it is certainly thinner than the chin of the Mi MIX 2S that houses the front-facing camera. According to him, Lenovo can attain much higher positions in the smartphone market as there’s a room for development. Lenovo Mobile business will help the company to develop IoT devices, 5G technology and other smart devices.

Lenovo is going to take its Mobile Business more actively, as it can help Lenovo to attain the 5G compatibility in the near future. Yang further added that it would be very difficult to build future technologies without developing the mobile computing and communication devices. Both the divisions should work parallely to attain compatibility with new technologies.

There are many countries in the world where Lenovo is performing well in the smartphone sector. He even talked about the Motorola deal, where Lenovo has learnt a lot and helped the company’s mobile business to grow rapidly. Well, the deal helped to churn some profits in selected market only. In others, there are some sanctions where Lenovo has to pay before entering the market. So, overall Lenovo is limited to some markets with the current resources.

Few months ago, Xiaomi had launched the Redmi 6 series of smartphones in China and the company now seems to be prepping to launch Redmi Note 6 series in the near future. In August, popular tipster Roland Quandt had shared vital information on the storage and color variants of the upcoming Redmi Note 6 Pro. Today, another leakster has revealed a leaked image of the Redmi Note 6 Pro phone on Twitter. The image also showcases the key specifications of the smartphone.

The Xiaomi Redmi 6 Pro that was launched in July this year features a notched screen. Hence, it is very likely that the Redmi Note 6 Pro will be also coming with a notched display. The leaked photo does not reveal the upper portion of the phone, but the supported 19:9 aspect ratio clearly hints that it will be coming with a notched screen.

The key specifications mentioned on the Redmi Note 6 Pro shows that it is fitted with a 6.26-inch screen. Probably, the notched screen will carry support for Full HD+ resolution. The leak reveals that it is equipped with four cameras.

The backside of the phone has dual pixel autofocus enabled 12-megapixel + 5-megapixel dual camera system. The main sensor will have a large pixel size of 1.4micron. It appears that the Redmi Note 6 Pro may feature the very same dual camera system that is available on the Redmi Note 5 Pro. The notch of the phone includes 20-megapixel + 2-megapixel dual selfie snapper. The handset features a 4,000mAh battery.

Update: Shown above is a leaked image of the retail box of the phone that not only reveals the aforementioned specs, but also reveals that it carries 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage.

Except for the chipset, all the key specs of the Redmi Note 6 Pro have been leaked. The Redmi Note 5 Pro was the first smartphone ever to be powered by Snapdragon 636. There is a possibility that the Chinese firm may use the same SoC on the Redmi Note 6 Pro.

According to Quandt, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro is coming in 32 GB storage + 3 GB RAM and 64 GB storage + 4 GB RAM models. Like the Redmi Note 5 Pro, the Note 6 Pro may also come in a higher variant featuring 64 GB of storage and 6 GB of RAM. The smartphone is expected to arrive in Gold, Blue and Black colors. The tipster has also claimed that the company may make it available in more colors. In Europe, the handset could be priced between 200 euros (~$232) and 250 euros (~$290).

Samsung Galaxy A9 Pro could be powered by Snapdragon 710 SoC

Samsung has scheduled a launch event in Malaysia on 11th October to launch a new Galaxy series smartphone where the company is promising “4x fun”. While the invite does not reveal which smartphone the South Korean giant is planning to launch at the event, rumors suggest that the phone in question is the Galaxy A9 Pro.

Now, the latest report related to the Samsung Galaxy A9 Pro reveals that the phone could be the first device from Samsung to be powered by Qualcomm’s recently launched Snapdragon 710 octa-core processor which is manufactured with 10nm process.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 chipset includes two cores of Kryo 360 Cortex A75 that clocks at 2.2 GHz and six cores of Kryo 360 Cortex A55 that offers a processing speed of 1.7 GHz. The octa-core processor is coupled with Adreno 616 graphics that promises 35 percent better rendering of graphics.

Compared to Snapdragon 660, the SD710 offers 25 percent faster performance. Also, it has been designed to consume less power while enjoying videos and games. The app launch times have been improved by 15 percent compared to its predecessor model.

There’s no information available related to the phone’s design but we are expecting the usual front design, thanks to the company’s Infinity Display. If the phone does not feature an in-display fingerprint sensor, it’ll have a fingerprint sensor on the back.

Earlier, there were reports suggesting that the phone getting launched on 11th October could feature four cameras on the back side. However, there’s no substantial proof available at this time to back such a claim.
