The H. Moser Swiss Alp Watch Zzzz is A Mechanical Apple Watch With A Crazy High Price Tag

This watch is strange on three different levels. First, you can call it the mechanical Apple Watch because of the striking resemblance. Next is its name which is weird and long – H.Moser Swiss Alp Watch Zzzz. Then you can gape at its $26,900 insane price tag!!!

H. Moser Swiss Alp Watch Zzzz

For those into luxury mechanical watches, the name H. Moser should be familiar. The watch making family business was founded in 1828 and started with making pocket watches before moving on to wristwatches. One of its latest watches is the Swiss Alp Watch Zzzz which looks just like the Apple Watch.

So what do you get for $26,900? The watch is totally built by hand. It has a white gold rectangle face with rounded edges that measures 38.2mm × 44mm and is 10.3mm thick. Its all-black dial gives off a look akin to a display but matches well with its white-gold hands.

There is a hand-wound HMC 324 movement inside and a caliber with a 4-day power reserve that can be recharged by hand.

LG G7 with Snapdragon 845 Could be Ultimate Flagship in 2018?

The LG G6 is one of the well-received smartphones of the year. Even though it comes with impressive specs, it does not feature the Snapdragon 835 that is present inside 2017 flagship phones like Sony Xperia XZ Premium, Galaxy S8, Galaxy S8+, Xiaomi Mi 6, and HTC U11.  Fresh information published on a Korean publication has revealed that LG has already struck a deal with Qualcomm to ensure that the LG G7 features the Snapdragon 845 SoC.

According to The Investor that cites information from the Korean source, Qualcomm and LG have started collaborating since early this month for the LG G7. The Snapdragon 845, the successor of Snapdragon 835, is rumored to feature Cortex A75 and Cortex A55 cores in BIG.Little architecture. Compared to the Snapdragon 835, its successor chip is expected to deliver 30 percent better performance in single-core threading. Also, it is expected to offer 70 percent enhanced performance in multi-core threading.

The LG G6 is a great phone, but the fact that it is powered by Snapdragon 821 is one of the reasons why people may not want to buy it. The Snapdragon 821 is an older chipset that powers flagship phones from 2016. People who wish to buy a flagship phone now would rather prefer to purchase Snapdragon 835 driven smartphones like Galaxy S8, Mi 6, Xperia XZ Premium, or HTC U11.

The LG G7 is rumored to come with support for virtual reality (VR) and AR augmented realty (AR) because of which it appears inevitable that it will be featuring the upcoming Snapdragon 845 SoC. Samsung, too has rumored to have started working on Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus that are rumored to be respectively codenamed as Star and Star 2.

A report published in the previous month revealed that Samsung and Qualcomm have already started working on Snapdragon 845 powered Galaxy S9. Hence, Samsung and LG are expected to rival against each other as the Galaxy S9 and LG G7 are rumored to debut in the first quarter of 2018. With Snapdragon 845 onboard, the LG G7 seems to arrive as an ultimate flagship that will be able to give tough competition to flagship phones form other brands.

ARM Announces Cortex A75, A55 and Mali-G72 GPU Along With a New DynamicIQ Architecture

ARM announced two new processor cores and one new GPU core earlier today which should power the upcoming smartphones and other gadgets by the end of 2017 / early 2018. The new Cortex A75 processor core succeeds the powerful Cortex A73 cores that’s found inside many high-end chipsets today. The Cortex A55 is one of the most awaited upgrades as it succeeds the super popular Cortex A53 core that’s found in millions of smartphones. There’s a new GPU announced as well, the brand new Mali-G72 succeeding the G71 core announced last year.

Cortex A series lineup

DynamicIQ

While these are important upgrades, what’s even more exciting is the announcement of the new DynamicIQ, which has been in the works for the past few years. If you are wondering why it’s important, note that it is the next generation tech in the super popular big.LITTLE architecture that’s currently used by most of the smartphone chipsets in the market including Snapdragon and Helio SoCs.

DynamicIQ

Considering how the big.LITTLE architecture was announced around 5 years back, it was about time that we got an upgrade to the architecture better suited for new generation requirements. One of the major upgrades in DynamicIQ architecture is the ability to mix different CPUs in a cluster. At present, the big.LITTLE architecture supports multiple clusters but each cluster would have just one type of CPU. For example, if there are two clusters, you can have Cortex A72 in one cluster and Cortex A53 in another cluster. But you couldn’t have them both together in one single cluster.

That changes with DynamicIQ architecture. This means you can have multiple CPUs in one single cluster and the number of CPUs in a single cluster has been increased to eight from the previous four limit in big.Little. So, you can have an octa-core chipset even with just one cluster. In fact, ARM predicts that a number of mid-range SoCs could go for an octa-core single cluster design with multiple CPU combinations. For example, Cortex A75 and Cortex A55 could be used in 1+7 or 2+ 6 or 4 + 4 or even just 1 + 4 combinations. With the support for multiple CPUs in a cluster, you could have lots of combinations.

ARM further predicts one particular combination to be popular among mid-range SoCs — Cortex A72 and Cortex A55 in 1 + 7 combination. This particular combination improves single thread performance up to 2.41x and multi-thread up to 1.42x as compared to an octa-core Cortex A53 SoC.

Another important feature of DynamicIQ is the presence of a DynamicIQ Shared Unit (DSU) which houses the L3 cache, takes care of power management as well as ACP and Peripheral port interfacing.

Note that as of now, only the newly announced Cortex A75 and Cortex A55 support DynamicIQ.

Cortex A75

This is the next generation core that will power the flagships of late 2017 and 2018. The Cortex A75 builds upon the thermal efficiency of A73 and boosts the performance. So, Cortex A75 offers more than 20 percent improvement in performance in a number of scenarios as compared to last year’s Cortex A73. This is achieved while maintaining the same levels of sustained performance. Also, instead of focusing on increasing power efficiency, ARM seems to have focused on keeping the same level of efficiency as the A73 while improving performance.

Cortex A75 performance

The Cortex A75 core is not just meant for smartphones as there are a number of large screen devices that could use this powerful chip, like Chromebooks and convertibles.

Cortex A55

The Cortex A55 is a much better upgrade, offering up to twice the boost in performance for memory-bound tasks as compared to the old Cortex A53. But for typical CPU usage tasks, the new processor core offers up to 20 improvement in performance, much like the Cortex A75.  Efficiency is also given due importance as the Cortex-A55 comes with 15 percent improvement in power efficiency as compared to its predecessor.

Cortex A55 performance

Remember that both, Cortex A55 and Cortex A75 are built on the new ARM v8.2-A architecture and ARM adds that these CPU cores are specifically designed to handle new age requirements like AI and machine learning.

Mali-G72 GPU

The current generation Mali-G71 GPU is found a number of high-end smartphones like the Huawei P10 and even the Samsung Galaxy S8 powered by the Exynos 8895.

Mali-G72 GPU

The Mali-G72 improves energy efficiency by up to 25 percent as compared to Mali-G71. ARM has also improved performance density by up to 20 percent. This essentially means that you can put more GPU cores in the same die area. This could translate into more cores being packed inside flagship smartphone GPUs. At present, the Kirin 960 uses Mali-G71 MP8 GPU (eight-cores) and Samsung’s Exynos 8895 comes with Mali-G71 MP20 (20 cores). The G71 and G72 GPU support up to 32 cores and we may finally see top-end phones using more GPU cores inside its SoC to boost graphic performance.

Cortex A75 core

It may take a while for chipmakers to implement the new DynamicIQ architecture, but we can expect new smartphones with Cortex A75 and A55 cores sometime early 2018. Best case scenario would be late 2017, but we’ll have to wait and see if new chips can release that early.

Get the Amazing Xiaomi Roidmi 2s Car Bluetooth Charger and FM Modulator for just $12.99!

Xiaomi has been making all sorts of products and I came across the Roidmi 2s car charger that has the best quality FM modulator I’ve ever heard and a lot more features. You can now get it for just $12.99, which is an amazing value.

[embedyt] http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yEirURTAYRI[/embedyt]

20161031_152158

To be honest, I’ve been looking for a great versatile car charger that has the FM modulator feature since my car has neither the AUX input port nor Bluetooth.

20161031_154549

The Roidmi 2s is very well built and sturdy charger that has 2 ports with the power output of 2.4A that can charge the phone very fast.

20161031_152252

One of the key features of this device is the FM modulator. All you have to do is download the Roidmi App, connect the charger to your phone via Bluetooth, select the same radio bands on your car’s stereo and on the app and you are ready to stream music.

20161031_152134

The audio quality has to be the key selling point of this device. It’s just outstanding and I have to say that this is the best sounding FM modulator I’ve tested so far.

20161031_152213

You can also do some other things within the app, e.g. check your car battery’s voltage, which I don’t really care about.

20161031_154651

What is more interesting, you can change the colors of LED light of the charger, which is pretty cool. My favorite feature is the ability to shake the phone to switch the songs and this feature is very useful while driving. As for call quality, people on the other end could recognize that I’m using the hands-free but we could make a clear conversation.

20161031_154641

I have to say that my search for the great budget FM modulator is finally over. I’ve tested some other cheap options out there but none of them could match the audio quality of the Roidmi 2s. If you add some other useful features, the Roidmi 2s can be highly recommended and you can now get it for just $12.99, which is an amazing value.

Get Xiaomi YI Dashcam for just $46.99!

The market is full of car cameras or dashcams but it’s not that easy to choose the right one if you don’t want to spend hundreds for it. Xiaomi dash-cam is a great camera and you can now get it for just  $46.99, which sounds like a great deal.

[embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5QMlOs1SBnQ[/embedyt]

One of the key features is a 2.7” display, which works as a viewfinder. Also, the physical control buttons to help you navigate through the menu.

A camera has a g-sensor (shock sensor). If you hit it (e.g. a car accident), the red indicator shows that the camera saves a separate file of 20 secs. (10 secs before, 10 secs after the g-sensor was activated). You can also record this separate file by clicking a red record button.

The dashcam has 165 degrees wide-angle lens with a f/1.8 aperture to assure a good low-light image quality. You can shoot videos at the maximum resolution of 1296P, which is above full-HD at 30 fps. Of course, you can switch to 60fps but you will lose a little bit of detail.

Xiaomi dash-cam is a great camera and you can now get it for just  $46.99, which sounds like a great deal.

Xiaomi’s 100th Mi Home Store in China Opens

Xiaomi was once heralded as the internet phone king of China after it took the centre stage in selling its smartphones in China. That has however seen a decline due to the influx of other phone makers into the online channel. The likes of OPPO and Vivo have even outpaced Xiaomi by incorporating both offline and online sales channels, leading to a serious decline in revenue. This has prompted the company, dubbed the Apple of China, to open offline stores in China. Mi Home store

Xiaomi had revealed last year that it plans to open 1000 Mi stores across several cities in China by the year 2020. In order to achieve that target, the company’s CEO Lei Jun hinted earlier this year that this company would open over 200 retail stores this year. The company has now hit 100 stores in total since the start of the project. The figure followed the opening of four new shops in Zhengzhou, Guangzhou, Foshan and Shanghai. The achievement si coming just five months after the 50th Mi home store was opened in December.Mi Home store

At present, the Mi Home stores are located in major cities like Beijing, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Nanjing, Chengdu, Hangzho, Wuhan, Zhuzhai, Zhengzhou, Changsha, Wuxi, Dongguan, Jinan, Dalian, Xiamen, Qingdao, Shenyang and others. Apart from sales, the shops cater for after sales service needs of customers as well as sales of accessories and technical support services. From the look of things, the Mi Stores seem to also stock other Mi smart gadgets apart from smartphones.

New Meizu Pro 7 Renders Emerge, Senior VP Hints At A Better Design & Confirms It Exists

Meizu‘s much anticipated Pro 7 has been one elusive device that is still yet to get a specific launch date. The phone has been the subject of a couple of renders in the past and yet again, another render just appeared online. Surprisingly, this latest rendering of the Meizu Pro 7 is said to have emanated from Russia, one country where Meizu has a strong following.

Meizu Pro 7

The render could best be described as a blend between the Samsung Galaxy S8 when viewed from the front and the iPhone 7 Plus with its dual rear camera at the rear. It features a curved edge display with tiny bezels at the top and bottom, perhaps where the selfie cameral as well so, physical home button. The rear camera is positioned on the top left corner, just link is on the iPhone 7 Plus. The device also comes in two shapes  of  black.

Meizu Pro 7

Even though the render was nothing more than a fan-generated render, it was enough to draw a response from Meizu when it was revealed in Weibo. Meizu’s new Senior VP who just joined the team Yang Zhe hinted that while the render looked attractive, it was no where close to how the Pro 7 would look when launched. The VP however refused to reveal more details. Meizu Pro 7

We can take this as, perhaps, an indication that the Pro 7 is still in the work. More especially as Jeffery Yang is senior VP in charge of the the high-end series where the Pro 7 falls into. There is also a rumor that the Pro 7 would be the next Meizu phone to launch but the launch wouldn’t be next month, June. We look forward to the Pro 7 ‘ s launch as it looks like a well packaged device.

OPPO R11 Full Specifications & Camera Samples Revealed

OPPO continues to pain the terrain green in preparation of its upcoming launch of the R11 scheduled to take place on June 10. The company has for a while now been teasing the R11’s images in video ads and posters but we are yet to see the real photo of the device up-close. Well, we’ve got one now.

OPPO R11

The close shot of the OPPO R11 affords us the opportunity to access the design very well. From what we can see, the R11 isn’t very much different from the R9-series in terms of design. Well, except for the unique dua cameras that the device features at the rear. Talking about dual cameras, the R11’s dual setup is tipped to be a powerful setup and the recently released sample photos of the device lends credence to that. OPPO recently shared three sample photos captured by the R11’s dual cameras. The photos look crystal clear without any trace of image noise or any other anomaly.

OPPO R11

Talking about the specs, the OPPO R11 is expected with a well-packed specs lineup marshaled by Qualcomm’s latest mid-range SoC, the Snapdragon 660 chip. The main feature on the device is the 16MP + 20MP dual camera setup that sits at the back of the device.  The camera is said to integrate Qualcomm’s top Spectra 160 ISP and is also a depth optimised camera. Don’t forget it also comes with a 2X lossless zoom feature as well as a professional portrait mode whose samples we had earlier seen.

Snapdragon 845 Will Feature ARM’s New Cortex-A75 and A55 Cores

There are just a handful of Snapdragon 835 powered smartphones in the market at the moment but Qualcomm is already working on a successor. The Snapdragon 835 is an impressive chipset but the Snapdragon 845 is bent on pushing performance further. To do that, it will be sporting some brand new cores.

The Snapdragon 835 is an octa-core processor built on the 10nm node design. New leaks have revealed that the Snapdragon 845 will be built on the same 10nm design. However, the difference between both chips lies in their CPU cores.

Cortex-A75 Cores

Unlike the SD835 that uses eight Kryo 280 cores, the Snapdragon 845 will feature ARM’s new Cortex-A75 and Cortex-A55 cores in a BIG.Little configuration.

The question now is how powerful are the new A75 and A55 cores? The info provided says the A75 will provide an improvement in performance greater than 20% over the Cortex-A73 and about 40% over the Cortex-A72. For power consumption, the A75 will maintain the same performance as the A73.

[envira-gallery id=”133501″]

The new core A75 was compared against the A73 on various benchmarking tools and we can see how well it trumps the A73 on Geekbench v4. The A75 will have a maximum clock speed of 3GHz, a 200MHz increase over the A73’s 2.8GHz which should translate to improved single and multi-thread performance.

Cortex A55 Cores

Now heading to the power efficiency cores, the Cortex-A55 will provide up to 2 times more performance over the A53 and will see improvements up to 15% in power efficiency.

The Cortex-A55 still has a couple of new tricks under its sleeve. Up till this moment, you could only pack up to 4 cores in a single cluster. However, that changes now. The A55 can be packed in a cluster of 8 cores. So processors like the SD625 which contain 8 Core-A53 cores in two clusters of 4, can now become a single cluster with the A55 for even way better battery life or 16 cores packed in two clusters. Alleged OnePlus 5 Image Leaks, Wrapped Up In A Case But Reveals Vertical Dual Rear Cameras

The OnePlus 5 is scheduled for a Summer launch, although there is no date yet, there are rumors it is next month. Over the past couple of weeks, there have been tons of leaks regarding the design of the OnePlus 5.

A new image said to be that of the OnePlus 5 surfaced on Weibo yesterday, and like the others, the focus is on the dual rear cameras it is supposed to launch with.

OnePlus 5

The OnePlus 5 in the image is wrapped up in a case but the cut-out for the rear cameras reveals a vertical setup. Directly below the rear cameras is the LED flash. The camera design is similar to that of the OnePlus 2 due to the rectangular shape of the camera housing.

Up front, just below the 5.5-inch display is a fingerprint scanner that doubles as a home button and at the top left corner is the front facing camera. The images don’t give a view of the top and bottom of the phone, so we can’t tell if there is a 3.5mm audio jack.

Xiaomi Jason Appears on GFXBench Sporting 6GB RAM and Snapdragon 660 Processor

A new device codenamed Xiaomi Jason has been seen on GFXBench. Since the Mi Max 2 is already out of the way, the only device we are thinking it might be is the Redmi Pro 2. However, the display size is what’s preventing us from ruling outright that this is the Redmi Pro  2.

According to the info on GFXBench, the Xiaomi Jason has a 5.1-inch FHD display. This is smaller than the size of the original Redmi Pro which is a 5.5-inch display. This singular reason makes us think it might not be the Pro 2.

Xiaomi Jason

There is also a possibility that Xiaomi decided to cut down the display size just the way Motorola did with the Moto G5 Plus and offer the Redmi Pro 2 as a top tier mid-range phone. But reducing the screen size isn’t the only thing required for a top mid-range phone.

The Xiaomi Jason runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat, has 6GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm CPU clocked at 2.2GHz and an Adreno 512 GPU. There is no doubt that this is the Snapdragon 660 chip, the king of the mid-range chips.

The rear camera on the Xiaomi Jason is an 11MP (12MP) sensor that can record in 4K while the front facing camera is a 3MP sensor. The latter is probably a 4MP UltraPixel sensor like the one in the Mi 5. Another feature the Xiaomi Jason has is NFC support.

If this isn’t the Redmi Pro 2, then we don’t know what it is seeing as Xiaomi’s CEO, Lei Jun has quelled rumors of a Mi 6c.

Early LG V30 Design Images Reveals Secondary Display That Slides Out

There are several steps involved when it comes to making a phone. One of the interesting parts is the design stage, where several design ideas are submitted and only one is chosen. Sometimes we get to see some of these designs leak after the product is released, while at other times, it is before the product is even out.

These design images provided by Evan Blass (@evleaks) are said to be old mock-ups of Project Joan a.k.a LG V30. It is important to note that LG may no longer be using this design and the LG V30 may look entirely different. However, the design is interesting and is one that has never been seen before on a smartphone.

First thing the leak reveals is the codename for the V30 which is Project Joan. So there’s a chance that other leaks in the future might surface under this name.

Going into the design, we see LG V30 sports the slide design of old that was brought back by the BlackBerry Priv. However, instead of sliding upwards to reveal a physical keyboard, we get a secondary display.

The secondary display serves a number of functions depending on the app in use as seen from follow up tweets. It can serve as a shortcut panel for a number of apps. In the image above, we see it holding a bunch of Google apps.

In a third tweet, we see the secondary display take on a number of functions: as a sub-menu for a number of apps; a keyboard for a chat app, and an extension of the main screen when its locked. In the very first image, it even serves as a sort-of always-on display when you slide down the phone.

The Cubot R9 is Basically The Hafury Mix With A Fingerprint Scanner

Cubot has a new phone in the pipeline and after running through its specs, it sounds very familiar. That’s because it is the Hafury Mix with a fingerprint scanner.

Cubot owns Hafury just the way Huawei owns Honor. If you were to take a look at some of the releases from Huawei and Honor, you would notice there are some similar devices with little or no differences. Take the Honor S1 and the Huawei Fit for example. Bottom line is, what Cubot is doing with the R9 and Hafury Mix is not new.

Cubot R9

The Cubot R9 packs a 5-inch HD display, 2GB RAM, 16GB ROM and a MT6580 quad-core chip. There is a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front facing camera, both with LED flash and a 2600mAh removable battery. It will also run Android 7.0 out of the box.
