Xiaomi announced the Mi Note 2 flagship earlier today, along with the concept Xiaomi Mix phablet. Now, as tradition, the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is up for pre-order on OPPOMART.

The 4GB + 64GB Black colored version is up for grabs at $479 while the 4GB  + 128GB model is up for pre-order at $579. However, for most international users, you will have to opt for the $679 Mi Note 2 Global Edition with 37 LTE band support.

To recap, the Mi Note 2 comes with a 5.7-inch dual curved OLED display with 1080p resolution. At the back, the phone features a powerful 22.56MP camera from Sony. Inside, there is the Snapdragon 821 chipset with 4GB / 6GB RAM and 64GB / 128GB ROM options. The phone supports NFC as well as fingerprint payments. Just confirmed that the Mi Note 2 uses an FPC1245 sensor and not ultrasonic sensor.

After a long wait, which I think extends to a few years, Xiaomi has finally unveiled a smartphone worthy of taking on the premium competitors in the market right now. The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is finally official and with it, we have got a flagship which we can directly compare with the likes of the Galaxy S7 Edge and the P9 series.

So, let’s take a look at what the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 brings to the table.

DESIGN

Design wise, Xiaomi has used the popular dual curved design, similar to what we saw on the Note 7. But with the phablet out of the picture due to its battery woes, the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 can shine with its familiar design.

The phone comes with 3D glass on both the front as well as the back. This means holding the phone is more comfortable due to its curved design. Further, for the frame, the company has used Aerospace grade 7 series aluminum, which gives it a smooth yet solid look.

There are two color options, Glacier Silver and Bright Black.

DISPLAY

The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is the company’s first dual curved display smartphone. The company explains that it’s not easy to use 3D glass with an LCD display. Hence, the Mi Note 2 is using an innovative flexible OLED display which not only blends together with the curved glass up front, but the display also extends to the side. This is similar to what we see on other curved display phones.

The phone comes with a 5.7-inch curved display with 77.2% screen to body ratio, better than iPhone 7 Plus’ 67.7%. The panel further boasts of 110% NTSC color gamut and 100,000:1 contrast ratio.

In case you are wondering, Lei Jun also mentioned that this advanced flexible screen costs as much as six times a regular 5.5-inch FHD LCD panel.

HARDWARE

Like expected, Xiaomi has ensured the Mi Note 2 has the best hardware in the market right now. It comes with the Snapdragon 821 chipset clocked at 2.35GHz. As for memory, you have 6GB RAM of LPDDR4 dual channel RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.0 storage. Recent Xiaomi smartphones are known for its long battery life and the same continues with the Mi Note 2. The phone comes with a large 4070mAh battery and with Quick Charge 3.0, battery life is going to be its plus point. Other features of the flagship include AQSTIC HD Audio processor with Hi-Fi sound quality and low distortion (24 bit / 192KHz), NFC with fingerprint payments and improved SAP assisted GPS.

As for the camera, the Mi Note 2 comes with the powerful 22.56MP IMX318 EXMOR RS sensor at the back. While there is no OIS on board, the module does have 3-axis gyroscope and EIS (Electronic Image stabilization). The camera also supports 4K video image stabilization at the hardware level. Other features include f/2.0 aperture and PDAF.

Up front, there is an 8MP IMX268 EXMOR RS shooter with f/2.0 aperture and beauty 3.0 software which promises to bring more accurate and natural colors. Another interesting feature of the front camera is the built-in autofocus, which means you will get clear selfies at any distance.

One of the biggest highlights of the Mi Note 2 is the supports 37 LTE global bands! As for the software, the phone is running MIUI 8 out of the box.

PRICING

Expecting the price to be high? Xiaomi has surprised us once again by making the Mi Note 2 quite affordable. The pricing is as follows:

4GB + 64GB 2799 Yuan ($413)

6GB + 128GB 3299 Yuan ($487)

6GB + 128GB Special Global Edition 3499 Yuan ($516)

Note that the 3499 Yuan is the model with 37 Global LTE support, so that’s the model international users should be interested in.

Xiaomi Mi Note 2 release is just a few days away and the phone already seems to have been listed on the popular reseller, Oppomart. It has become a tradition for the seller to list phones before its official release and this time, we have a render as well as probable specifications of the smartphone.

The Xiaomi Mi Note 2, according to OPPOMART, will come with a 5.7-inch 2K curved display with Snapdragon 821 on board and 4GB / 6GB RAM options. The listing further adds that the phone will support 37 bands from all over the world, which is something we reported earlier and will feature dual 16MP Sony cameras at the back and 16MP sensor up front. Also, the website reveals that the phone will be priced at $499, but don’t get too excited, as nothing is official yet.

Surprisingly, the pricing started at 4999 Yuan ($741) with other two options being 5999 Yuan ($889) and 6999 Yuan ($1038).

Is it possible that the Mi Note 2 pricing starts at $750? Despite its high-end status, it’s unlikely as Xiaomi has built a reputation as a value for money smartphone maker. So, it can’t just go ahead and release a $800 smartphone expecting fans to be okay with the price. So, the actual price could be lower, somewhere around $500-$600.

Xiaomi Mi 5S and Mi 5S Plus were released recently but looks like they are not the only high-end phones that are going to be announced by the company this year. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun confirmed the existence of the Mi Note 2 recently and considering that the specs of the Mi 5S Plus have left us wanting for more, the Mi Note 2 would be a perfect high-end flagship from the company.

Now, the popular Chinese analyst Pan Juitang says that the Mi Note 2 will be priced at 4000 Yuan, which comes to nearly $600! This will make it the costliest flagship from Xiaomi till date. He failed to mention any possible specs of the device, but previous rumors suggest that the Mi Note 2 will come with a curved screen display, dual cameras, 6GB RAM option and more powerful hardware.

It actually makes sense for the Mi Note 2 to be super high-end and costly. Xiaomi’s executives had previously revealed that the company aims to make its mark in the premium segment and the Mi Note 2 will be the perfect phone to do that job. Further, with Samsung Galaxy Note 7 out of the picture, there will be a void to be filled in the premium Android market in the next few months. Xiaomi could aim to cover this void with its new release, provided it comes with the latest technology on board. That’s why it makes sense why the Mi Note 2 will be a relatively costly Xiaomi phone.

Anyway, apart from confirming the existence of the Mi Note 2, Xiaomi’s CEO has practically revealed nothing else about the device. So, we will have to wait for some more concrete details in the next few days. Stay tuned!

Xiaomi released the two flagship phones, the Xiaomi Mi 5S and the Xiaomi Mi 5S Plus just a week back, however, rumors about new models continue to come in. Earlier today, new images of a Mi smartphone, most likely the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 surfaced on Weibo, revealing a different design than what we had seen for the phone. Some say that it could be the Mi 6 flagship, but it is a bit too early for even the prototypes to emerge, given that the Mi 5S was just launched.

So, we are assuming this is the upcoming Mi Note 2 phone. The design is different, in the sense, the corners are rounder than other Xiaomi flagships and the overall look of the device is unique to the company’s smartphone lineup. Apart from the Mi logo on the back of the phone, there’s nothing else to confirm that this is a Xiaomi smartphone.

What’s interesting about the phone is that it features a curved screen design. While we can’t verify whether it’s a dual curved edge display or just a normal 2.5D curved display, the front for sure looks good. Further, you have the oblong home button below the display, like the Mi 5 which should come with a fingerprint sensor embedded into it.

Again, the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is taking over the news space just moments after the Mi 5S and 5S Plus were launched during which period it went on a sort of hiatus. It is now rumored that the much expected Xiaomi flagship device would likely be launched in November. Xiaomi’s Mi Note 2 flagship has been making rounds on the internet for the past few weeks, but it looks like we might have a final release date of the device. There are also rumors about a September 24 release date for the device, however, it’s a Saturday. Chinese companies including Xiaomi usually never keep flagship launch conference on Saturdays, which is why September 24 release date is unlikely.

So, what can we expect on the new flagship device? Well, earlier rumors have already painted a very thorough picture of the upcoming smartphone. According to Korean media, Xiaomi’s CEO, Lei Jun is reportedly visiting Seoul, South Korea for the first time, to meet Samsung Electronics executives. Meeting Samsung’s executives could be a good indicator of Xiaomi’s plans to partner with the South Korean company for supplying components to its smartphones.

According to the report, Xiaomi will be meeting Jeon Young-hyun, who is the president of Samsung’s memory chip division (smartphones). Along with Jeon, Lei Jun is also expected to meet other Samsung executives from the company’s Display department. Considering Samsung enjoys a major share (more than 90%) of the smartphone OLED market, there is a good chance that Lei Jun is visiting to talk about the possibly supply of OLED displays for the company’s smartphones.

We had seen reports about Chinese companies like Xiaomi, Huawei, and Vivo planning to release curved edge smartphones. Moreover, lately, we also have been hearing a lot about curved display smartphones from Xiaomi, like the Mi Note Edge. Given that Samsung leads the dual curved edge display market for smartphones, this meeting could be to talk about supplying curved displays for Xiaomi’s upcoming smartphones.

Lei Jun could even talk about the supply of Samsung’s Exynos chipsets for Xiaomi flagships. We have seen the Exynos family get better and better in the past couple of years and the Exynos 8990 is presently one of the best chips in the market. Xiaomi’s co-founder and Senior Vice-President, Liwan Jiang has reaffirmed the plan of the company to release high-end but cost effective smartphones this year.

Liwan Jiang disclosed this while speaking at an interview very recently. The Senior VP reaffirmed the plan by Xiaomi to release high-end products in the second half of the year and further hinted that the company has shifted its attention to the launch of the high-end device.

Mr Jiang also reassured earlier stance that Xiaomi’s cost-effective policy will still not change as regards the high-end device and hinted at the possibility of a special brand name for the device. He, however did not disclose the specific name it’d be called.

It has been rumored that a Xiaomi news conference is scheduled to take place sometime in August where the new high-end device(s) is expected to be unveiled.

Also, on that same day in August, the long awaited Mi Note 2 is expected to be launched as well.

The 5.7-inch Mi Note 2 is expected to come with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 821 processor, 4GB / 6GB RAM options, fingerprint sensor, dual camera setup and lots more top specs. The Mi Note 2 is expected to be priced at 3000 Yuan (about $450) for the base model.

But now, we might have a final date, as new rumors from China say that the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 will be announced on July 25. So, does the July 25 date make sense? Kind of. Xiaomi has already started teasing the Mi Note 2 and when a company does that, it can only mean that the release date is near. July 25 is still around three weeks away, which means there’s still time for Xiaomi to start teasing the device aggressively.

Moreover, another reason why July 25 could indeed be the release date of the Mi Note 2 is because of the latest teaser. Remember the teaser Xiaomi released a couple of days back saying 2>5. Here > could imply 7, which would mean that 2>5 is hinting at the July 25 date (7 / 25).

If you want another reason to believe this date, then just go back a few more days and recall the comment made by the Xiaomi co-founder, Lin Bin. He had said that the company will release a powerful flagship in July. Mi Note 2 should be out best bet.

Taking all these information into consideration, it is possible that we meet the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 on July 25. Of course, nothing is confirmed at the moment, so we can’t be 100% sure until we the company confirms the date.

According to an insider, the Xiaomi Mi5S as well as the Mi Note 2 will come with pressure sensitive displays. However, the source says that the technology inside Xiaomi’s new phones will be much better than the ones seen on Huawei and rumored on Meizu. This information was revealed back in April, and recent rumors have pointed out that the Mi Note 2 could end up with a better chip, the Snapdragon 821. Even this phone is said to come with pressure sensitive display and Ultrasonic fingerprint sensor, along with a Ceramic body. We know Xiaomi has had issues with the mass production of ceramic Xiaomi Mi5, so we are not quite sure whether the company would consider a ceramic body for one of the most important flagships of the second half of 2016.

These phones are rumored to launch in August 2016, which is just a month away. If true, then we should hear more about them in the next few days.

Ever since Lin Bin revealed that Xiaomi will release a flagship smartphone in the second half of 2016, we have received a lot of leaks and rumors about the device. This includes recent information about three variants of the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 as well as specs of the upcoming Xiaomi Mi5S. However, today, we have an even more extensive leak, revealing the specs, variants as well as the pricing of the Xiaomi Mi Note 2, which should succeed the Mi Note flagship released last year. Since analyst Pan Jiutang is of the opinion that Xiaomi should be the first smartphone manufacturer with Snapdragon 821, we expect the release to be within the next few months. So, all the details about the upcoming flagship are as given below.

First of all, the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 and all its variants (there are a few) should be announced at the Xiaomi Summer Conference 2016. Unfortunately, we don’t have a specific time frame for this conference. What we do have is the Mi Note 2 variants and specs.

So, Xiaomi is said to be working on three different variants of the Mi Note 2 this year. All the three models should feature a 5.7-inch display, but the standard version will feature 1080p resolution while the high-end and the Edge variants will come with 2K resolution. Further, the high and the Edge models are expected to come with pressure sensitive displays, which will be a first for Xiaomi.

The Mi Note 2 will also be the company’s first 6GB RAM phone. While the standard variant is said to feature 4GB + 32GB memory configuration, the top/ high variant is said to come with 6GB RAM + 64GB ROM and the Edge variant with 6GB + 128GB. Also, the standard variant is expected to come with a single 16MP camera at the back, but the top and Edge variants should get 12MP dual cameras. Other features common in these variants include a hidden fingerprint sensor, 4000mAh battery with QC 3.0, NFC, Hi-Fi chip etc.

As for the pricing, it’s not going to be cheap. The standard version should retail for 2499 Yuan ($376), while the Top and the Edge variants should cost 2999 Yuan ($451) and 3499 Yuan ($526) respectively.

Unfortunately, it’s still too early to confirm these specs and variants. But if the information turns out to be true, then the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 will become Xiaomi’s first 6GB , dual camera, and dual curved display flagship!

Lin Bin revealed on Saturday that Xiaomi was all set to release a new flagship in the market in July. We guessed it would be the rumored Xiaomi Mi Note 2 as it was logically the next flagship smartphone for the company. Now, it looks like the first generation Xiaomi Mi Note is listed as sold out, which hints that the Mi Note 2 flagship release could be close by.

Apart from the details we heard earlier today, more information about the specs of the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 have cropped up online. It is said that the phone will use a 2K 5.7-inch display so that the screen resolution is high enough for Xiaomi’s VR. Another interesting piece of information revealed today is that there would be Xiaomi Mi5S announced as well, which should be a slightly upgraded version of the Mi5 flagship. Further, they should be using metal injection molding process.

As for the other specs, there should be at least two versions with 4GB and 6GB RAM, Snapdragon 821 chipset and even a variant with dual cameras. If the Note 2 indeed comes with these specs, it would be a treat for power users. Also, considering the specs, the Mi Note 2 should retail around the same price as the Honor V8, which cost upwards of 2499 Yuan (>$380).

There are also rumors about the flexible screen phone from Xiaomi with a screen size of around 5.5-5.7-inches. But not much details are available about the device yet.

Xiaomi’s co-founder and president, Lin Bin revealed this Saturday, Xiaomi will release a new high-performance flagship in July, which is just a few weeks away. However, he failed to mention the name or any feature of the flagship (except that it’s high-end) which makes us wonder which product will meet us next month. Below mentioned are a few guesses based on recent rumors.

Some rumors say that the Xiaomi flagship to be announced next month is going to be none other than the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 flagship. We have been hearing about the device for the past few months and hence, it won’t be surprising if we meet the flagship soon. Another possibility is the Xiaomi Mi Edge, a phone that has been rumored since late 2014. If we indeed meet this device, then expect features such as a flexible / curved screen with a size of around 5.5-5.7 inches.

Specs wise, you can expect a lot of good things inside the new Mi Note 2. The phone is said to come with the Snapdragon 821 chiset, a slightly overclocked version of the SD820. Along with this, you can expect 6GB RAM on board with several variants. Earlier rumors have said that there could be a dual camera version as well. This is possible as recently, an insider posted on Weibo that Xiaomi, OPPO and Apple are all working on dual camera phones this year.

Another possibility is the release of the Xiaomi Notebook. We have seen leaks about this product as well as heard a lot of rumors for the past six months. The Notebook is said to be released this summer and July would be a good time for its 12.5-inch model to be announced. While we haven’t seen the laptop in any images yet, it is said that it will come with a light weight aluminum design to rival the Apple Macbooks.

Xiaomi had a busy day today, unveiling a new brand and a bunch of new products like the Mi Router 3 and the Smart Rice Cooker. In fact, if we actually take a look at the past few months, Xiaomi has regularly released/ updated its Redmi and Mi series smartphones. This brings us to the one series which seems to be forgotten at the moment and that’s none other than the Mi Note series.

However, a few hours ago, new details about the Mi Note 2 emerged, which reveals the specs as well as pricing of the device. It is said that the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 will come in a number of variants in terms of processor, storage and RAM. For example, it is said that the phone will have Snapdragon 820 as well as 823 chip versions, as well as 4GB RAM and 6GB RAM options. In terms of storage, starting at 32GB, the storage option reportedly will go up to 256GB.

To recap, this is not the first time we have heard about the Snapdragon 823 version. Analyst Pan Jiutang had revealed in February that Snapdragon 823 model number MSM8996 Pro should come with an upgraded CPU (higher clock speed?) but the baseband should be the same.

Coming back to the Mi Note 2, the phone is said to come with the same screen size, 5.7-inches with 2K resolution. There’s even the possibility of pressure sensitive display. Other rumored specs include a large 3600mAh battery with support for 18W Quick Charging, 16MP rear camera (Sony IMX 295) with OIS and a 5MP front camera. The phone should be made out of metal.

The source further reveals that the release of Snapdragon 823 will depend on its availability. Samsung Galaxy Note 6 is expected to come with this chip, and it’s possible that the Mi Note also uses this upgraded CPU for better performance.

Finally, coming to the pricing, the phone is said to retail for around 2999 Yuan which comes to $460. That’s not really a bad figure considering all the high-end hardware packed inside.

However, it’s still too early to say anything about the Mi Note 2 for sure, so we will advise you to take this rumor with a pinch of salt. If Xiaomi does intend to update the lineup, expect a release only in the second half of 2016.

While there’s still time for the Xiaomi Mi Note lineup to complete its one year anniversary, rumors about a second generation model, the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 have already started to surface. According to the latest rumors, the new model will feature high-end specs, which includes a 5.7-inch display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels, 4GB of RAM, and 32GB of internal storage. The leakster didn’t mention whether there would be a MicroSD card slot.

Like the Xiaomi Mi 5, the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 model is also expected to feature Qualcomm’s Ultrasonic fingerprint scanner. At the back, you can expect a 16MP shooter. Also, for software, you can expect the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS on board. Finally, like all flagships, the phone will support 4G LTE networks.

As for the processor, the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 will reportedly come with Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 820 chipset on board. This new chip is supposed to be the company’s savior after the setback it received with its Snapdragon 810 processor. However, since the leak claims that the phone may release as soon as November 5, its likely that there will be multiple versions of the device. The model that we might see in November could be powered by Mediatek’s Helio X20 MT6797. Xiaomi could release a Snapdragon 820 variant sometime later, when the chip becomes available.

Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is also expected to come with an upgraded body. The phone will reportedly ditch the 3D glass design for a metal build.

Anyways, the Mi Note 2 is shaping out to be a powerful smartphone. This isn’t surprising since the Mi Note series is the company’s most powerful lineup right now and we can expect pretty high-end stuff on the device when it releases in the coming months.
