Xiaomi has recently confirmed that it will be unveiling the much-hyped Xiaomi Mi 6 flagship smartphone on April 19. The Chinese firm is still a couple of days away from the launch of Xiaomi Mi 6 and the rumor mill is already brewing up with fresh information on the next generation Mi Note series phablet.

An anonymous Chinese source has revealed that the upcoming Mi Note 3 will be packed with lethal specifications. The most powerful smartphone chipset from Qualcomm, the Snapdragon 835 is rumored to fuel the phablet with a mammoth 8 GB RAM. It is expected to be available in native storage options such as 128 GB and 256 GB.

The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 features a dual edge curved screen that measures 5.7 inches. Its successor is also expected to arrive with a same sized display. Like the Mi Note 2, its next generation model is pegged to be equipped with a identical battery of 4,070 mAh capacity.

Even though the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is one of the most impressive smartphones from the company, there is no fresh information available on its market performance. The reason behind it is that the Mi Note 2 has reportedly encountered production issues.

Just as Samsung faced production problems with its first dual-edge curved phones, Xiaomi too is allegedly facing a similar issue with the production of dual-edge screens for Mi Note 2. However, the company seems to be well prepared in improving the production of curved displays for the Mi Note 3.

The Xiaomi Mi Note 3 is rumored to get unveiled in the second quarter of this year.  However, this piece of information cannot be confirmed as the company has not followed a consistent refresh cycle for the Mi Note series phones. The Mi Note and Mi Note Pro phones were unveiled in January 2015. The Mi Note 2 arrived in October 2016. If Xiaomi has improved the building process for Mi Note 3, it may consider canning the Mi Note 2 to launch a successor phone with killer specs quickly.

The famous Mr. Ivan has once again ported stock Android 7 for the above-mentioned devices, which although unofficial, will get you the first taste of the Nougat update on your old smartphones.

After a long wait, which I think extends to a few years, Xiaomi has finally unveiled a smartphone worthy of taking on the premium competitors in the market right now. The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is finally official and with it, we have got a flagship which we can directly compare with the likes of the Galaxy S7 Edge and the P9 series.

So, let’s take a look at what the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 brings to the table.

DESIGN

Design wise, Xiaomi has used the popular dual curved design, similar to what we saw on the Note 7. But with the phablet out of the picture due to its battery woes, the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 can shine with its familiar design.

The phone comes with 3D glass on both the front as well as the back. This means holding the phone is more comfortable due to its curved design. Further, for the frame, the company has used Aerospace grade 7 series aluminum, which gives it a smooth yet solid look.

There are two color options, Glacier Silver and Bright Black.

DISPLAY

The Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is the company’s first dual curved display smartphone. The company explains that it’s not easy to use 3D glass with an LCD display. Hence, the Mi Note 2 is using an innovative flexible OLED display which not only blends together with the curved glass up front, but the display also extends to the side. This is similar to what we see on other curved display phones.

The phone comes with a 5.7-inch curved display with 77.2% screen to body ratio, better than iPhone 7 Plus’ 67.7%. The panel further boasts of 110% NTSC color gamut and 100,000:1 contrast ratio.

In case you are wondering, Lei Jun also mentioned that this advanced flexible screen costs as much as six times a regular 5.5-inch FHD LCD panel.

HARDWARE

Like expected, Xiaomi has ensured the Mi Note 2 has the best hardware in the market right now. It comes with the Snapdragon 821 chipset clocked at 2.35GHz. As for memory, you have 6GB RAM of LPDDR4 dual channel RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.0 storage. Recent Xiaomi smartphones are known for its long battery life and the same continues with the Mi Note 2. The phone comes with a large 4070mAh battery and with Quick Charge 3.0, battery life is going to be its plus point. Other features of the flagship include AQSTIC HD Audio processor with Hi-Fi sound quality and low distortion (24 bit / 192KHz), NFC with fingerprint payments and improved SAP assisted GPS.

As for the camera, the Mi Note 2 comes with the powerful 22.56MP IMX318 EXMOR RS sensor at the back. While there is no OIS on board, the module does have 3-axis gyroscope and EIS (Electronic Image stabilization). The camera also supports 4K video image stabilization at the hardware level. Other features include f/2.0 aperture and PDAF.

Up front, there is an 8MP IMX268 EXMOR RS shooter with f/2.0 aperture and beauty 3.0 software which promises to bring more accurate and natural colors. Another interesting feature of the front camera is the built-in autofocus, which means you will get clear selfies at any distance.

One of the biggest highlights of the Mi Note 2 is the supports 37 LTE global bands! As for the software, the phone is running MIUI 8 out of the box.

PRICING

Expecting the price to be high? Xiaomi has surprised us once again by making the Mi Note 2 quite affordable. The pricing is as follows:

4GB + 64GB 2799 Yuan ($413)

6GB + 128GB 3299 Yuan ($487)

6GB + 128GB Special Global Edition 3499 Yuan ($516)

Note that the 3499 Yuan is the model with 37 Global LTE support, so that’s the model international users should be interested in.

Xiaomi Mi Note 2 release is just a few days away and the phone already seems to have been listed on the popular reseller, Oppomart. It has become a tradition for the seller to list phones before its official release and this time, we have a render as well as probable specifications of the smartphone.

The Xiaomi Mi Note 2, according to OPPOMART, will come with a 5.7-inch 2K curved display with Snapdragon 821 on board and 4GB / 6GB RAM options. The listing further adds that the phone will support 37 bands from all over the world, which is something we reported earlier and will feature dual 16MP Sony cameras at the back and 16MP sensor up front. Also, the website reveals that the phone will be priced at $499, but don’t get too excited, as nothing is official yet.

Xiaomi is preparing to launch its brand new Xiaomi Mi5S smartphone on September 27, which is just a few days away. While this is great news since the Mi5S is expected to come with powerful features, it did bring up the question of Xiaomi Mi Note 2 and its existence. A previous rumor even said that the phone may no longer exist, but today, a new screenshot has emerged, which is alleged to be of the Mi Note 2 Pro flagship.

The screenshot reveals some very powerful specs on the device. It shows that the Mi Note 2 Pro comes with a quad-core 2.6GHz processor, most likely Snapdragon 821 along with massive 8GB of RAM on board. There’s even 256GB memory along with Android 7 Nougat. Overall, these specs are more powerful than any other handset in the market right now.

While we can’t verify the screenshot, if this is indeed real, there is a good chance that we won’t get to see it soon. Since the Mi5S is expected to be announced later this month, releasing another flagship like the Mi Note 2 should be logically a few months later. Further, it’s still quite early to see 8GB RAM smartphones, when 6GB RAM still has to become standard among flagship phones of 2016. Of course, LeEco could release the first 8GB RAM phone, but these are all just rumors.

For now, if you want a powerful Xiaomi smartphone, better wait for the Mi 5S flagship.

While Meizu was expected to release a 3D Touch enabled smartphone earlier this year, we haven’t seen it yet. However, looks like Xiaomi could soon release a smartphone with pressure sensitive display and it could be an upcoming model like the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 or the Xiaomi Mi5S.

Recently, Xiaomi users found that 3D Touch feature was already available in their system, hidden away, probably because the hardware couldn’t support it. But given that the feature is built into the system, this could be a good indication that Xiaomi is readying a smartphone with 3D Touch display.

Rumors about the Mi Note 2 have been cropping up in China quite consistently for the past few weeks, and the latest leak related to the phone reveals a few details about the specs of the device. A leaked screenshot of the Mi Note 2 shows that the phone will come with the Snapdragon 820 chipset clocked at 2.15GHz. Xiaomi Mi Note 2 is one of the most anticipated smartphones in the second half of 2016. Looks like these renders were made taking all these information into consideration and to be honest, the maker has done a fine job of making the Mi Note 2 look premium and flagship worthy. The front of the device looks beautiful, with curved glass display and the rectangular home button. These renders also have the speakers located at the bottom of the phone. For the past few weeks, we have been hearing a lot about the upcoming Xiaomi Mi Note 2 flagship. However, up till now, these rumors only revealed an approximate release period, which is said to be around August. But now, we might have a final date, as new rumors from China say that the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 will be announced on July 25. Further, the phone is said to come with a 5.7-inch display, 6GB of RAM, Snapdragon chipset and a price tag of 2499 Yuan ($375).

So, does the July 25 date make sense? Kind of. Xiaomi has already started teasing the Mi Note 2 and when a company does that, it can only mean that the release date is near. July 25 is still around three weeks away, which means there’s still time for Xiaomi to start teasing the device aggressively.

Moreover, another reason why July 25 could indeed be the release date of the Mi Note 2 is because of the latest teaser. Remember the teaser Xiaomi released a couple of days back saying 2>5. Here > could imply 7, which would mean that 2>5 is hinting at the July 25 date (7 / 25).

If you want another reason to believe this date, then just go back a few more days and recall the comment made by the Xiaomi co-founder, Lin Bin. He had said that the company will release a powerful flagship in July. Mi Note 2 should be out best bet.

Taking all these information into consideration, it is possible that we meet the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 on July 25. Of course, nothing is confirmed at the moment, so we can’t be 100% sure until we the company confirms the date.

Xiaomi last year launched a unique service which enabled Mi Note users to get a free back panel replacement. This year, the company has launched a similar program wherein Mi Note users can get a free upgrade to Natural Bamboo Cover free of charge.

The offer started on 4th July and will be live until 31st July. Mi owners only need to take their Mi Note, to any authorised service shop and the glass cover on their phones can be replaced with the natural bamboo cover, free of charge.

However, there are a few conditions that must be met to get this free upgrade, and is available on a first come first serve basis. Each user will be entitled to 2 upgrades only and the offer is limited to in-store replacement only.

Xiaomi also seems to have an advice for the users who are looking to avail the offer. The company has mentioned that the bamboo covers looks amazing on the white version. But for the black and pink versions, users need to be careful as it might not be as good looking as it looks on the white ones.

As per Xiaomi, the replacement bamboo cover is made of best quality natural bamboo found in the southern part of China, which is known for its strength and delicate string texture. The thin arc-shaped structure is 0.9 mm thick and weighs 5grams less than the original glass version. The bamboo cover is waterproof and will not deform quickly. Each case carries a unique texture giving the Mi Note a lightweight, thin and delicate sense of natural bamboo texture.

Now, it looks like the first generation Xiaomi Mi Note is listed as sold out, which hints that the Mi Note 2 flagship release could be close by.

Apart from the details we heard earlier today, more information about the specs of the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 have cropped up online. It is said that the phone will use a 2K 5.7-inch display so that the screen resolution is high enough for Xiaomi’s VR. Another interesting piece of information revealed today is that there would be Xiaomi Mi5S announced as well, which should be a slightly upgraded version of the Mi5 flagship. Further, they should be using metal injection molding process.

As for the other specs, there should be at least two versions with 4GB and 6GB RAM, Snapdragon 821 chipset and even a variant with dual cameras. If the Note 2 indeed comes with these specs, it would be a treat for power users. Some rumors say that the Xiaomi flagship to be announced next month is going to be none other than the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 flagship. We have been hearing about the device for the past few months and hence, it won’t be surprising if we meet the flagship soon. Another possibility is the Xiaomi Mi Edge, a phone that has been rumored since late 2014. If we indeed meet this device, then expect features such as a flexible / curved screen with a size of around 5.5-5.7 inches.

Specs wise, you can expect a lot of good things inside the new Mi Note 2. The phone is said to come with the Snapdragon 821 chiset, a slightly overclocked version of the SD820. Along with this, you can expect 6GB RAM on board with several variants. Earlier rumors have said that there could be a dual camera version as well. This is possible as recently, an insider posted on Weibo that Xiaomi, OPPO and Apple are all working on dual camera phones this year.

Another possibility is the release of the Xiaomi Notebook. We have seen leaks about this product as well as heard a lot of rumors for the past six months. The Notebook is said to be released this summer and July would be a good time for its 12.5-inch model to be announced. While we haven’t seen the laptop in any images yet, it is said that it will come with a light weight aluminum design to rival the Apple Macbooks.

In fact, if we actually take a look at the past few months, Xiaomi has regularly released/ updated its Redmi and Mi series smartphones. This brings us to the one series which seems to be forgotten at the moment and that’s none other than the Mi Note series.

However, a few hours ago, new details about the Mi Note 2 emerged, which reveals the specs as well as pricing of the device. It is said that the Xiaomi Mi Note 2 will come in a number of variants in terms of processor, storage and RAM. For example, it is said that the phone will have Snapdragon 820 as well as 823 chip versions, as well as 4GB RAM and 6GB RAM options. In terms of storage, starting at 32GB, the storage option reportedly will go up to 256GB.

To recap, this is not the first time we have heard about the Snapdragon 823 version. Analyst Pan Jiutang had revealed in February that Snapdragon 823 model number MSM8996 Pro should come with an upgraded CPU (higher clock speed?) but the baseband should be the same.

Coming back to the Mi Note 2, the phone is said to come with the same screen size, 5.7-inches with 2K resolution. There’s even the possibility of pressure sensitive display. Other rumored specs include a large 3600mAh battery with support for 18W Quick Charging, 16MP rear camera (Sony IMX 295) with OIS and a 5MP front camera. The phone should be made out of metal.

The source further reveals that the release of Snapdragon 823 will depend on its availability. Samsung Galaxy Note 6 is expected to come with this chip, and it’s possible that the Mi Note also uses this upgraded CPU for better performance.

Finally, coming to the pricing, the phone is said to retail for around 2999 Yuan which comes to $460. That’s not really a bad figure considering all the high-end hardware packed inside.

However, it’s still too early to say anything about the Mi Note 2 for sure, so we will advise you to take this rumor with a pinch of salt. If Xiaomi does intend to update the lineup, expect a release only in the second half of 2016.

Xiaomi Mi Note Pro users were in for a surprise today morning. The company reportedly upgraded the kernel on their devices to the new Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. However, the update was rolled out to only those who were using the closed beta ROM.

So, if you are still using the stable version, you can only expect the update after a while. But since the select beta ROM users have already received the update, those who are using the developer ROM should also get the upgrade pretty soon.

Xiaomi is already a well established manufacturer in China and other Asian markets. We are hearing a lot of news about the company as they are growing at an extremely fast pace. The company stresses out its newest flagship – Xiaomi Mi Note, which has a dual-Sim dual-standby capabilities. One slot will be used for micro SIM cards, while another will be used either for Nano SIM cards or Micro SD cards for memory expansion. This hardware adjustment means that the iPhone users can make an easy transition without the need to replace their SIM card type and use it in Xiaomi’s device straight away!

The Xiaomi has just announced their two flagship phablet devices – the Mi Note and the Mi Note Pro, which pack top notch specs, which include the almighty Snapdragon 810 64-bit chip, 2k 1440×2560 pixels screen, 4 GB of Ram, 64 GB of storage, Hi-Fi audio chip and other stuff (we are talking the Pro version here).

However, it seems that Xiaomi has something more to show for the public and two devices were not enough. Well, at least this is what Antutu database says.

According to this information on Antutu database, the Xiaomi has the Note Plus version in its pipeline. As you can see from the specs, the device will come with the Android 5.0 out of the box with the MIUI skin on top of that. Also, it will pack the 8 core chip, which is most likely the Snapdragon 810, Adreno 430 GPU, 2k 1440×2560 pixels screen, 13mp camera.

From the above mentioned specs we can see that it will be almost identical device as the the Mi Note Pro. That keeps us wondering why the Xiaomi decided to release one more version of its phablet portfolio and how different it will be.

Xiaomi has just announced their highly anticipated new device, which is Xiaomi Mi Note and another high-end version of it – Note Pro. We are happy to share with you some first hands-on pictures with you fresh from the announcement stage!

As you can see, the device has some design inspiration from the company’s own Xiaomi Mi4 as it has 3 capacitive keys on the front bottom, metal farm and white plastic back. However, the Mi Note has something new to offer, which includes a 3D glass (on the high-end version) and 2.5 glass (on the lower-end version). Moreover, there is a 4Mp Ultrapixel camera sensor on the front, which is the same as the one on the HTC One M8. What is more, the device spots an interesting back design, which is curved. It provides a great look and better grip for a user. In addition to this, there is a 13mp camera sensor provided by Sony (most likely IMX214), which is also equipped with the OIS and dual tone dual LED flash setup. We are happy to see that the camera sensor and its lenses remain flat with the surface of the back. All of this beauty sits in a fairly compact body for the 5.7 inches phablet device: 55.1x 77.6 x 6.95mm. In comparison, the iPhone 6 Plus measures 158.1 x 77.8 x 7.1 mm. As usual, the Xiaomi was happy to make a lot of iPhone 6 comparisons, where their new flagship phablet wins.

Besides a great design, the Xiaomi Mi Note and the Note Pro have a flagship grade specs. If we start with the regular Note version, it has a Full-HD screen (1080 x 1920), which has a pixel density of 387 ppi. Inside the device, there is a quad-core 2.5GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with Adreno 330 GPU, 16/32 GB of storage. Also, the device has a support for dual 4G SIM cards and has 3GB of RAM. What is more, the Mi Note packs a QuickCharge 2.0 technology, Hi-Fi ESS ES9018K2M DAC high performance two channel 32-bit mobile Hi-Fi Audio chip, all of this is powered by the 3,000 mAh battery and being run by the MIUI skin on top of the Android 5.0.

The high-end version will feature the almighty Snapdragon 810 64-bit chip, 2k 1440×2560 pixels screen, 4 GB of Ram, 64 GB of storage and all other features already included in the regular Mi Note version.

It seems that the Xiaomi has put a lot of effort to make a great device with its just announced Xiaomi MI Note not only on the inside, but on the outside as well. As we already know that the device will be powered by the beast of the chip – Snapdragon 810 (other specs are just being officially unveiled at the moment), we have something interesting to share with you, which involves a presentation about the Xiaomi’s new flagship phablet being abused in several ways.

The test, which was made by the company is called a steel ball impact test and a drop test, where the company tests how sturdy their new device is.

During the first test, the steel ball weight was chosen to be at 131 grams and it was dropped from the height of 30 cm right on the plastic back of the device. Of course, nothing happened to the device (who would show their own device fail on video?).

During the second test, the MI Note device was dropped face down from the height of 150 cm. It dropped right on the hard concrete floor and it seemed that it was too easy for the device as nothing happened to the screen.

Having said all this, we should say that most of the companies do all kinds of drop tests, which may be similar to these seen in the video above. Still, we are happy to see that Xiaomi is proud of making another sturdy device, which  can survive a few drops in different situations.
