Xiaomi’s popular smartphone Redmi Note 11 continues to offer its users the most up-to-date software experience. The device received a new security update in June 2024. This new HyperOS update comes with build number OS1.0.5.0.TGCMIXM. The update allows users to use their devices in a more secure and performant way.

Redmi Note 11 HyperOS June Update

The June 2024 update specifically targets security vulnerabilities. Today, increasing cyber threats and security risks have made the security of mobile devices more important. Xiaomi provides regular security updates to protect its users’ personal data and devices. This new patch increases the security level of the device, making it more resistant to malware and other cyber attacks.

Xiaomi’s independent brand Redmi released the latest Redmi Note 12 series lineup in China recently. The lineup consists of multiple smartphones including the Redmi Note 12, Redmi Note 12 Pro, Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus, and Redmi Note 12 Explorer Edition. We have already taken a look at how these four models differ from each other in a dedicated comparison, but it’s time to check out how the individual models compare to their predecessors.

The Redmi Note 12 comes with a new Cortex A78 powered Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset as compared to the Cortex A76 powered Dimensity 810 chipset on the Redmi Note 11. The new model also shaves off a few grams off its weight and upgrades the display to a Samsung AMOLED panel instead of IPS LCD. But there are a bunch of changes too, which could be called as downgrades, especially in the camera department.

So let’s take a closer look at how the new Redmi vanilla model compares against its predecessor in this Redmi Note 12 vs Redmi Note 11 comparison.

Design

The Redmi Note 11 5G launched last year featured a complex camera module at the back, despite featuring only two usable cameras. On the other hand, the new model revamps its camera module with a cleaner design featuring just two large cameras. Personally, we feel the new design looks a lot more refined and symmetric. The back looks a lot cleaner now, inline with the premium model designs that we’ve seen over the past few years.

In terms of dimensions, the Redmi Note 12 is thinner at 8mm vs 8.8mm on the Redmi Note 11 5G model. The new model also reduces the weight to 188 grams. However, the Note 12 is both taller and wider than the previous generation.

Both the models are IP53 certified, so they are dust and splash resistant. The Redmi Note 12 comes in Black, White, and Blue color options while the Redmi Note 11 came in Black, Blue, and Mint Green options.

Display

Display is one area where the Redmi Note 12 brings significant upgrades over its predecessor. The Note 12 model comes with a 6.67-inch Samsung AMOLED panel featuring 2400 x 1080p resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, and 1200 nits peak brightness. In comparison, the older model featured a 6.6-inch IPS LCD panel with the same resolution and a lower 90Hz refresh rate.

This ensures that the Redmi Note 12 brings significantly better display experience over its predecessor and makes for a good reason for users to upgrade to the new model.

Specs & Software

The Redmi Note 12 features a decent entry-level Qualcomm chipset from the last generation: the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 with 5G support. In comparison, the Redmi Note 11 featured the Dimensity 810 processor clocked at 2.4GHz. Both these chips are aimed at the budget market with 5G support, so don’t expect any significant difference in terms of performance.

Both the models start at 4GB RAM and 128GB of ROM and go up to 8GB and 256GB of ROM in China. Note that these are UFS 2.2 storage storages.

The Redmi Note 12 runs Android 12 out of the box with MIUI 13. In comparison, the Redmi Note 11 comes with an older Android 11 version with MIUI 12.5 on top.

Camera

The camera section is a bit confusing. After all, Redmi has removed the useful ultra-wide angle sensor on the new model, replacing it with a pretty useless depth sensor.

The Redmi Note 12 features a 48MP primary shooter and a 2MP depth shooter while the older model had a 50MP primary camera and an 8MP secondary ultra wide camera. Clearly, the presence of the UW sensor makes the Redmi Note 11 more versatile and useful than the camera module found on the new model. In fact, it is disappointing to see a 2022 smartphone missing out on an ultra-wide sensor.

Even the front camera gets a lower resolution 8MP shooter instead of 16MP on the Redmi Note 11, however, the aperture is wider at 2.0 on the new model.

Battery

Both the model have the exact same battery configuration. The Redmi Note 12 and the Note 11 come with decent 5000mAh batteries on board with up to 33W fast charging.

Price

The vanilla Redmi Note 12 is available in the Chinese market with an official starting price tag of €170 or $170 but internationally it will be sold at a higher price tag. On the other hand, the older model retails for around $200 on global retailers like Giztop.

Xiaomi just launched another of its devices with incredibly affordable prices: the Redmi Note 11R. It is something very interesting not only because of the price but also because it is one of the most affordable phones out there. Another device with an amazingly good quality price ratio is the vanilla Redmi Note 11. It has been available for a long time and it reached awesome street prices. After the release of the new model, we think several people probably want to know which one is the best for their actual needs, given that these two handsets are in the same price range. We decided to answer this question through a comparison between the main specifications of the Redmi Note 11 and the Redmi Note 11R.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 vs Xiaomi Redmi Note 11R

Design

Despite the Redmi Note 11R being a newer model with a more original design, the winner of the design comparison is the older Redmi Note 11. Unlike the new variant, the older one comes with a punch hole placed centrally, instead of an ugly waterdrop notch. Further, the screen to body ratio is higher, thanks to the presence of narrower bezels around the display. The rear side has a more minimalistic look, with more impressive color options such as the gradient blue one. Last but not least, the vanilla Redmi Note 11 has a more compact body (it is even thinner) and comes with the IP53 certification making it dust resistant and splash resistant. Unfortunately, these devices are not built with premium materials, and they are made of plastic for both the rear cover and the frame.

Display

The winner of the display comparison is again the Redmi Note 11. Unlike its internal rival, it is equipped with a great AMOLED display showing brighter colors and deeper black. The panel has a diagonal of 6.43 inches, a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels, a 90 Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 1,000 nits. On the Redmi Note 11R, you can find an IPS LCD display with a diagonal of 6.58 inches, a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2408 pixels, and a 90 Hz refresh rate. Besides offering a higher image quality, the vanilla version comes with stereo speakers. Both devices sport side-mounted fingerprint readers, placed on the power keys, and they include an infrared port allowing to use of the phone as a TV remote.

Hardware/Software

As you read until now, the Redmi Note 11 is definitely more interesting when it comes to the design and the display. But the Redmi Note 11R packs a better hardware department. First of all, it has a better processor: the Dimensity 700 chipset by Mediatek, built with a 7 nm production process and sporting an octa-core architecture composed of two Cortex A76 CPUs running at a max frequency of 2.2 GHz, six Cortex A55 CPUs running at 2 GHz, and a Mali G57 MC2. The chipset is even paired with a higher amount of RAM if we consider the most expensive configuration of the phone: up to 8 GB of RAM, as well as 128 GB of native storage in all the configurations, furtherly expandable through a micro SD slot. Last but not least, it supports 5G. The Redmi Note 11 does not support 5G and it is powered by the Snapdragon 680 chipset with lower energy consumption but lower performance too. The chip is built with a 6 nm production process and sports an octa-core architecture composed of four Kryo 265 Gold CPUs running at 2.4 GHz, four Kryo 265 Silver CPUs running at 1.9 GHz, and an Adreno 610 GPU. The chipset is paired with up to 6 GB of RAM and up to 128 GB of native storage.

Camera

The cameras of the Redmi Note 11 are way better than the ones found on the Redmi Note 11R. It has a quad camera setup with a 50 MP main sensor, an 8 MP ultrawide lens, and a pair of 2 MP cameras for macros and depth calculation. The 11R has a disappointing dual camera with a 13 MP main lens and a 2 MP depth sensor.

Battery

The batteries of these two phones come with the same capacity: 5000 mAh. But the Redmi Note 11 will last longer on a single charge in a lot of scenarios because it has a more energy-efficient display. Further, it charges quicker thanks to 33W fast charging.

It is easy to find the Redmi Note 11 for less than €200 in the global market, while the Redmi Note 11R begins at $154 in China and it is not available in other markets. The 11R is better only when it comes to the hardware department, but for the rest, the vanilla version is superior.

But the highest-end memory configurations are different: the Redmi Note 11 gives you up to 6 GB of RAM and up to 128 GB of UFS 2.2 internal storage, while the Motorola Moto G52 stops at 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of non-UFS 2.2 native storage. You can expand the internal storage with a micro SD. However, there is an important pro of the Motorola budget phone: it ships with Android 12 out of the box, while the Redmi one comes with Android 11 out of the box, customized by MIUI 13.

Camera

If you are looking for a most complete rear camera setup, then you should go for the Redmi Note 11: it has the same 50 MP main sensor, the same 8 MP ultrawide camera, and the same 2 MP macro lens as the Motorola Moto G52, but it adds a 2 MP depth sensor. On the other hand, the Motorola low cost comes with a better selfie camera coming with a 16 MP resolution. Having a better selfie camera is definitely more important than having a 2 MP depth sensor.

Battery

These two phones come with the same battery capacity: 5000 mAh. Even fast charging technologies are similar: you get 33W fast charging and 30W fast charging, respectively. But the Redmi Note 11 should last a bit more on a single charge because it has a smaller display with lower energy consumption.

You need at least Rs. 14,499 / $189 to purchase the Motorola Moto G52 in its base variant, and the Redmi Note 11 starts from the same listing price. So which one is the best? Yesterday, Xiaomi unveiled three new Redmi Note 11 smartphones for international markets. At the same time, the company also announced a limited edition of the vanilla Redmi Note 11. This device is officially Redmi Note 11 Xiaomi Fan Festival Special Edition.

Xiaomi is known for hosting fan festivals every year. During these days, the firm offers discounts on a wide variety of its products worldwide. 

The festival was officially called the ‘Mi Fan Festival’ (MFF) till 2021. Now, as the company has dropped the ‘Mi’ branding, it will be called the ‘Xiaomi Fan Festival’ (XFF) going forward. The 2022 edition is scheduled to start from April 6.

Ahead of that, Xiaomi has announced a special Redmi Note dubbed as ‘Redmi Note 11 Xiaomi Fan Festival Special Edition’. It also goes by the name of ‘Redmi Note 11 XFF Special Edition’. This version of the handset has the same set of features as the regular model.

The only difference is that the limited edition phone comes in a single Star Blue colorway with the Fan Festival logo embossed on its rear. Also, it ships in a customized box with some stickers.

Unfortunately, Xiaomi has neither revealed the availability nor the price of this smartphone yet. Going by the previous iterations in the series (Redmi Note 10 Pro, Redmi Note 9S), it will be most likely limited to certain markets.

The biggest one was in China where the company unveiled its latest flagship smartphones, a premium laptop, and its largest TV yet. It also held events in Indonesia and India to debut certain phones, which had already gone official in certain regions earlier.

Redmi Launches From Last Week

Indonesia – Redmi Note 11 Series

The first Redmi launch event of last week was held in Indonesia. The brand debuted the Redmi Note 11 series at this conference. The company announced three models for the country, namely Redmi Note 11, Redmi Note 11 Pro, and Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G. The Redmi Note 11S was absent at this event. Perhaps, it will be introduced later in the region.

The three devices that got unveiled are the same as the phones sold in Europe. Hence, there’s no change in specifications. The vanilla and Pro models come in two memory configurations, while the Pro 5G is limited to a single variant.

As far as pricing is concerned, the Redmi Note 11, Redmi Note 11 Pro, and Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G start at Rp 2,499,000 ($175), Rp 3,499,000 ($245), and Rp 4,199,000 ($294) respectively in Indonesia.

India – Redmi 10

The second Redmi event was for India at which the brand took wraps off the Redmi 10. This Redmi 10 is different than the Redmi 10 and Redmi 10 2022 sold in other international markets.

The device comes with a 6.71-inch FHD+ display (LCD), Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 SoC, LPDDR4x RAM, UFS 2.2 storage, 50MP (wide) + 2MP (depth) dual-camera system, 5MP selfie camera, rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, MIUI 13 based on Android 11, 6,000mAh battery, and 18W fast charging. 

The Redmi 10 costs ₹10,999 and ₹12,999 for 4GB + 64GB and 6GB + 128GB memory variants respectively.

China – Redmi K50 Series

The third and the last Redmi event of last week took place in China. The main highlight of the conference was the Redmi K50 series. The lineup includes two models — Redmi K50 and Redmi K50 Pro.

The Redmi K50 duo features a 6.67-inch QHD+ 120Hz AMOLED display, MIUI 13 based on Android 12, LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 3.1 storage. 8MP ultra-wide camera, 2MP macro camera, 20MP selfie camera, dual stereo speakers, and side-mounted fingerprint sensor.

The vanilla Redmi K50 is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 8100 SoC and gets its juice from a 5,500mAh battery with support for 67W fast charging. It has a 48MP main camera with OIS. On the other hand, the Redmi K50 Pro is backed by a smaller 5,000mAh battery but supports 120W fast charging. It also sports a more powerful MediaTek Dimensity 9000 chipset and an OIS-enabled 108MP primary camera.

The Redmi K50 starts at  ¥2,399 ($378), while the Redmi K50 Pro begins at ¥2,999 ($472).

China – Redmi K40S

Redmi also announced the Redmi K40S alongside the Redmi K50 series. It features a similar design language but the specs are near identical to that of Redmi K40.

This handset arrives with a 6.67-inch FHD+ 120Hz AMOLED display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 chip, LPDDR5 RAM, UFS 3.1 storage, MIUI 13 based on Android 12, 48MP (wide, OIS) + 8MP (ultra-wide) + 2MP (triple) camera setup, 20MP selfie camera, dual stereo speakers, side-mounted fingerprint sensor, 4,500mAh battery, and 67W fast charging.

The Redmi K40 starts at ¥1,999 ($315) in China for the base 8GB +128GB memory variant.

China – RedmiBook Pro 15 2022

At the Redmi K50 family launch event, Redmi also debuted the RedmiBook Pro 15 2022 premium laptop. It is the successor of the RedmiBook Pro 15 2021.

It offers an aluminum-alloy body, 15.6-inch 3.2K 90Hz display, backlit keyboard, fingerprint sensor, dual speakers, 720p webcam, Microsoft Windows 11, and 72 Wh battery. It comes in multiple variants powered by up to 12th Gen Intel Core i7 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2050 GPU.

The RedmiBook Pro 2022 starts at ¥5,599 ($881) and goes all the way up to ¥7,499 ($1,180).

China – Redmi Smart TV MAX 100-inch

The Redmi K50 series conference also witnessed the launch of the largest Redmi television to date — Redmi Smart TV MAX 100-inch. The humongous TV costs ¥19,999 ($3,147).

The television arrives with a 100-inch 4K canvas, 120Hz refresh rate, multi-zone backlight system, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, IMAX Enhanced, 10-bit color depth, MEMC, AMD FreeSync, metal frame, and metal stands.

Other features include ARM Cortex-A73 quad-core CPU, ARM Mali-G52 MC1 GPU, 4GB RAM, 64GB storage, MIUI TV, 1 x HDMI 2.1, 2 x HDMI 2.0, 2 x USB, AV, Ethernet, S/PDIF, Antenna, WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, 2 x 15W speakers (30W), Dolby Atmos, Dolby Audio, DTS-HD, far-field microphones, and Xiao AI virtual assistant.

Xiaomi unveiled the international Redmi Note 11 series at the end of January. Since then, the company has been bringing these smartphones to different markets across the globe. The latest country to receive them is Indonesia.

Yesterday (March 15), Xiaomi finally launched the Redmi Note 11 series in Indonesia. The firm has initially brought three models to the region, namely Redmi Note 11, Redmi Note 11 Pro, and Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G.

These are exactly the same phones that are sold in Europe and other global markets. Hence, they feature an identical set of features, including NFC for contactless payments.

As far as pricing is concerned, the Redmi Note 11 series will retail at the following price tags in Indonesia.

Interestingly, Xiaomi did not launch the Redmi Note 11S in Indonesia. Since its predecessor Redmi Note 10S was released last year, it could also make its debut later.

Xiaomi launched the Redmi Note 11 in India alongside the Redmi Note 11S in February. Less than a month from its announcement, the company has hiked the price of the device. Let’s check out how much the handset now costs in the region.

The Redmi Note 11 comes in three memory configurations in India. Xiaomi has only increased the price of the base variant, which features 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. Whereas, the other two versions still cost the same.

The base 4GB + 64GB variant of Redmi Note 11 debuted at ₹13,499 in India. Its price has been now incremented by ₹500. Therefore, it is currently listed at ₹13,999 on Amazon. Interestingly, this model is delisted on Mi.com.

On the other hand, 6GB + 64GB and 6GB + 128GB versions are available on both platforms priced at ₹14,499 and ₹15,999 respectively. All three variants can be availed in either Space Black, Horizon Blue, or Stardust White color options.

As far as features are concerned, the Redmi Note 11 arrives with a 6.43-inch FHD+ 90HZ AMOLED display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 SoC, LPDDR4x RAM, UFS 2.2 storage, 50MP (wide) + 8MP (ultra-wide) + 2MP (macro) + 2MP (depth) quad-camera setup, 13MP selfie camera, dual stereo speakers, side-mounted fingerprint sensor, IP53 rating, MIUI 13 based on Android 11, 5,000mAh battery, and 33W fast charging.

Xiaomi recently came up with a brand new affordable handset for the Asian market: the Redmi Note 11 4G. Despite the large diffusion of 5G, 4G-only phones are still a big thing and a lot of people still choose them because they often allow saving a lot of money. That is why we had the chance to make a comparison between the Redmi Note 11 4G and two more recent 4G phones: the Realme 9i which just launched in the European market as well, and the Vivo Y32. They all come with great prices, but which one offers the highest value for money? This specs comparison will hopefully let you find out.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 4G vs Realme 9i vs Vivo Y32

Design

My favorite design of this comparison is the one of the Realme 9i. It has a more elegant camera module than Redmi Note 11 4G, is less invasive, and with the same color as the rear cover. Further, unlike the Vivo Y32 that comes with a waterdrop notch, it comes with a punch-hole design for the display: the punch hole is placed on the top left corner. On the other hand, the Redmi Note 11 4G remains interesting because it is the most compact phone of the trio. All of these devices are made of polycarbonate for both the rear side and the frame.

Display

The most advanced displays belong to the Redmi Note 11 4G and the Realme 9i. They have two LCD panels with a Full HD+ resolution of 1080p and a 90 Hz refresh rate. The Realme 9i has a wider 6.6-inch panel, while the Redmi Note 11 4G stops at 6.5 inches. Unfortunately, the Vivo Y32 has a lower HD+ resolution with 720p and it comes with a standard 60 Hz refresh rate, so expect an inferior image quality. All the phones are equipped with a side-mounted fingerprint reader.

Specs & Software

The Snapdragon 680 mobile platform found on the Realme 9i and the Vivo Y32 is actually more powerful than the MediaTek Helio G88 chipset found on the Redmi Note 11 4G. Between these two, the Vivo Y32 wins the hardware comparison because it offers up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 128 GB of UFS 2.1 internal storage, while the Realme 9i stops at 6 GB of RAM. The trio runs Android 11 out of the box, with highly customized user interfaces on top. Do you prefer MIUI, Realme UI or OriginOS?

Camera

The best rear camera department belongs to the Redmi Note 11 4G which offers a 40 MP main camera, an 8 MP ultrawide lens, and a 2 MP macro sensor. The Realme 9i has the same 50 MP main camera, but it lacks an ultrawide sensor, replaced by a useless depth sensor. The Vivo Y32 comes with a poor 13 MP dual camera, but its front camera is more interesting thanks to an f/1.8 focal aperture which should allow capturing brighter selfies.

Battery

All of these phones are equipped with a 5000 mAh battery, but the Vivo Y32 should last more on a single charge because it has a display with a lower resolution and a standard refresh rate. The Realme 9i has the fastest charging technology with a power of 33W, but unlike its two rivals, it does not support reverse charging.

Price

Redmi Note 11 4G starts from $157/€138 in China, Vivo Y32 begins at €140/$159, and Realme 9i is currently unavailable in the Chinese market but it can be purchased in India for $203/€179. The Realme 9i wins the comparison thanks to its great chipset, faster charging, and great overall specifications.

After teasing for days, Xiaomi finally announced the Redmi Note 11 and the Redmi Note 11S in India earlier today. However, unlike the Redmi Note 10 series launch event that happened in March 2021, this year’s conference was not so interesting despite the live stream being AI-generated. Because the products are sort of boring as compared to last gen.

The newer models do bring some upgrades but then again, that’s what the latest generation should offer. Anyhow, the pricing of the new smartphones is unlike Xiaomi.

In a nutshell, we really don’t think that Xiaomi India ‘Set the Bar’ with the Redmi Note 11S.

Xiaomi India had been hyping the launch of the Redmi Note 11S in the country even before the device went official in other markets. Specifically, the company uses the term ‘Set The Bar’ to promote this phone.

But deep down we all, including Xiaomi, know that the company had actually ‘Set the Bar’ last year with the India-exclusive Redmi Note 10 Pro.

For those unaware, the Redmi Note 10 Pro sold in India is not available anywhere else. This phone packs all the features of the Redmi Note 10 Pro sold in other international markets, except for the 108MP primary camera.

The device uses a 64MP main camera. As a result, it debuted at ₹3,000 cheaper than the Redmi Note 10 Pro Max, which is actually the Redmi Note 10 Pro that’s available elsewhere.

This handset was introduced at ₹15,999 for the base 6GB + 64GB memory configuration. Almost a year later, Xiaomi launches the same variant of the Redmi Note 11S in India a bit higher at ₹16,499.

For starters, the Redmi Note 11S is not a successor of the Redmi Note 10 Pro. It actually succeeds the Redmi Note 10S, which debuted at ₹14,999 for 6GB RAM and 64GB storage.

The Redmi Note 11S is a better handset than its predecessor. But it’s definitely not on par with the Redmi Note 10 Pro. Because the latter not only offers a matte rear glass finish but a better chipset in the form of Qualcomm Snapdragon 732G and a capable 5MP telemacro camera with autofocus.

The Redmi Note 10 Pro went through multiple price hikes and the base variant was discontinued long ago. Anyway, the mid 6GB + 128GB version and the top 8GB + 128GB are still on sale for ₹17,999 and ₹18,999 respectively. 

In other words, the handset is only ₹500 costlier than the same memory configurations of the Redmi Note 11S. In our opinion, one should better get the older phone than the newer one.

The Redmi Note 11S is a good smartphone standalone. However, its pricing makes the year-old Redmi Note 10 Pro a better deal in India. Having said that, we are not sure how long Xiaomi will continue selling the last-gen model.

Redmi Note 11 / Redmi Note 11S Specifications and Features

The Redmi Note 11 and the Redmi Note 11S feature an identical flat frame design and a plastic body. They measure 159.87 x 73.87 x 8.09mm in dimensions and weigh 179. They come in two common colors and one exclusive color for each.

On the front, the devices flaunt a 6.43-inch centered punch-hole AMOLED display with a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels (FHD+), 409 PPI, a 90Hz refresh rate, and up to 180Hz touch sampling rate. The panel has a 4,500,000:1 contrast ratio, 700 nits typical brightness level, 1000 nits peak brightness level. It supports DCI-P3 color gamut, Reading Mode 3.0, and Sunlight Display.

Further, they are powered by two different chipsets. The vanilla model sports a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 SoC, whereas the S model houses a MediaTek Helio G96 chip along with liquid cooling technology. Either way, the duo comes with LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.2 storage.

For photography and videography, both use a quad-camera setup on the rear comprising of an 8MP ultrawide unit, a 2MP macro snapper, and a 2MP depth sensor. The Redmi Note 11 arrives with a 50MP main camera and a 13MP selfie camera, On the other hand, the Redmi Note 11S features a 108MP primary camera and a 16MP front-facing camera.

On the connectivity front, the handsets offer dual SIM card slots, 4G, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.0, GNSS, and USB Type-C port. They also have a dedicated MicroSD card slot, 3.5mm headphone jack, dual stereo speakers, Hi-Res Audio certification, side-mounted fingerprint sensor, IR blaster, z-axis linear vibration motor, and essential sensors (accelerometer, virtual proximity sensor, gyroscope, ambient light sensor, and compass).

Redmi will be announcing the Redmi Note 11 4G and Redmi Note 11S smartphones tomorrow (Feb 9) in India. Ahead of the launch, the Indian variant of the Redmi Note 11 has paid visit to Geekbench benchmarking site (via) to confirm its processor and other details.

The Xiaomi phone with the 2201117TI model number is the Indian variant of the Redmi Note 11 4G. The model number of its global edition is 2201117TG. The Geekbench listing reveals that the device scored 376 and 1580 in the single-core and multi-core tests of Geekbench, respectively.

The listing mentions that it is powered by a Qualcomm chipset that has four CPU cores clocking at 2.40GHz and four CPU cores working at 1.80GHz. The source code of the listing reveals that it is equipped with Adreno 610 GPU. Hence, it can be said that the handset is powered by the Snapdragon 680 mobile platform. The SoC is coupled with 6 GB of RAM and Android 11 OS.

Redmi Note 11 4G specifications

The Redmi Note 11 4G has a 6.43-inch AMOLED FHD+ resolution and a 90H refresh rate. The device is equipped with MIUI 13 based Android 11. For security, it has a side-facing fingerprint scanner.

The Note 11 4G is equipped with 4 GB / 6 GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 64 GB / 128 GB of UFS 2.2 storage. For additional storage, it has a side-facing fingerprint scanner. The device includes a 5,000mAh battery that supports 33W rapid charging.

The handset has a 13-megapixel camera for snapping selfies. Its back panel has a 50-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens, a 2-megapixel depth sensor, and a 2-megapixel macro camera. It is likely to be priced under Rs 15,000 in India and come in colors like black, white, and blue.

Upcoming Smartphones Next Week

Samsung Galaxy S22 Series

Samsung will officially unveil the Galaxy S22 series at the Galaxy Unpacked 2022 event on February 9. The conference will kickstart at 10 AM ET.

The South Korean tech giant is expected to announce three handsets, namely Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra. They are also anticipated to be accompanied by three premium Android tablets, such as Galaxy Tab S8, Galaxy Tab S8+, and Galaxy Tab S8 Ultra.

All the aforementioned devices have leaked extensively multiple times in the last few months. The most interesting of all is Galaxy S22 Ultra as it will be the first Galaxy S smartphone with an in-built stylus.

Realme C35

The Realme C35 is set to launch on February 10. The phone’s global debut will happen in Thailand.

It is expected to come with a dewdrop-notched display, UNISOC T616 SoC, 4GB RAM, 128GB storage, 50MP primary camera, 8MP selfie camera, Android 11, and a 5,000mAh battery.

In terms of design, the handset will resemble the brand’s latest flagship lineup – the Realme GT2 series.

Xiaomi has also confirmed to announce the Redmi Smart TV X43 and the Redmi Smart Band Pro at this conference. The former is a new size model in the Redmi Smart TV X series, whereas the latter is the brand’s first fitness tracker with a rectangular display.

The phones are rumored to be costlier than their predecessors, however, the fitness tracker is said to carry an aggressive price tag.

Vivo T1 5G

The Vivo T1 5G will be the company’s second attempt at reviving an online-specific smartphone lineup in India. But the handset coming to the country will be different than the one sold in China with the same name.

The device for India will arrive with a 6.58-inch FHD+ 120Hz display (LCD), Qualcomm Snapdragon 695, up to 8GB LPDDR4x RAM/128GB UFS 2.2 storage, 50MP + 2MP + 2MP triple camera setup, 16MP selfie camera, 5,000mAh battery, 18W fast charging, and under  ₹20,000 price tag.

As far as the launch date is concerned, the Vivo T1 5G will go official on February 9 in India.

Tecno Pova 5G

TECNO POVA 5G is the brand’s first 5G smartphone. After making its global debut in Nigeria at the end of December, it is now heading to India on February 8 with an expected price tag of around ₹18,000-₹20,000.

The phone packs features like a 6.9-inch FHD+ 120Hz display (LCD), MediaTek Dimensity 900 SoC, 8GB LPDDR5 RAM, 128GB UFS 3.1 storage, 50MP + 2MP + AI len triple camera setup, 16MP selfie camera, HiOS 8 based on Android 11, 6,000mAh battery, and 18W fast charging.

For the past few days, Redmi India has been teasing the arrival of the Redmi Note 11S. Recent reports have claimed that the company may unveil another Note 11 series phone alongside the Note 11S. An official tweet reveals that the Note 11 and Note 11S will be debuting together on Feb. 9 in India.

The microsite of the Redmi Note 11 series available on Xiaomi India’s website has revealed the design of the Redmi Note 11 and Note 11S. The Feb. 9 event will also see the arrival of the Redmi Smart Band Pro and Redmi Smart TV X43.

As far as the Note 11 and 11S are concerned, these are likely to be the same devices that were recently unveiled in global markets. The Redmi Note 11 Pro 4G and Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G were also made available in the international markets. These devices may go official in the country later this month or in March.

Redmi Note 11, Note 11S specifications

The Redmi Note 11 has a 6.43-inch AMOLED FHD+ display that offers a 90Hz refresh rate. The Note 11S has the same display. Both phones have a 13-megapixel camera for capturing selfies. The Note 11S has a 108-megapixel (main) + 8-megapixel (ultrawide) + 2-megapixel (depth) + 2-megapixel (macro) quad-camera unit. The Note 11’s quad-camera unit will have a 50-megapixel primary camera and the same auxiliary snappers available on the Note 11S.

The Note 11 gets Snapdragon 680, whereas the Helio G96 fuels the Note 11S. Both models come with LPPDR4x RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. They are packed with a 5,000mAh battery that supports 33W rapid charging. These devices are preinstalled with Android 11 OS, which comes with MIUI 13 on top.

New Redmi Note 11 series for international markets

After debuting the Redmi Note 11 lineup in China in November, Xiaomi finally brought the family to international on January 26. However, the series for global markets include totally different devices, namely Redmi Note 11, Redmi Note 11S, Redmi Note 11 Pro, and Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G.

Out of these four, the Redmi Note 11S offers the best value for its asking price. Although it looks and has the same display as the vanilla model, its specs are more comparable to the Pros.

Smartphone market observed multiple records

The global smartphone market grew for the first time in 2021 since 2017. Counterpoint Research revealed that the shipments reached 1.39 billion units by growing 4% YoY.

The Indian smartphone, in particular, grew 12%YoY last year by registering 162 million units in shipment. On the other hand, the Chinese market shipped 333 million units and incremented by only 1%.

Finally, pivoting to the budget segment at the right time (ahead of LG’s demise), OnePlus saw an insane 524% YoY growth in the US in Q4 2021.

iPhone clones from Gionee and Blackview

Gionee 13 Pro went official last week with an uncanny iPhone 13 resemblance and HarmonyOS. However, it has entry-level specs like an HD+ display (LCD) and a UNISOC T310 chipset. For just  ¥529 (483), it doesn’t sound like a bad deal after all.

At around the same time, Blackview A95 also got announced with an iPhone 13 Pro-like design. Its main highlights other than design include a MediaTek Helio P70 SoC, 6.5-inch HD+ display (LCD), and a 4,380mAh battery.

Face ID now works with a mask 

After two years of the COVID-19 pandemic, iPhones can be finally unlocked with masks on. However, this feature is currently only available in the beta channel. Also, it requires iPhone 12 or newer models.

Additionally, Apple is working on a new feature that will turn iPhones into POS machines. This feature will be reportedly useful for micro-merchants.

MediaTek Kompanio 1380 is a new chip for Chromebooks

MediaTek announced a new SoC called Komapnio 1380 for premium Chromebooks on January 26. This 6m chip arrives with an octa-core CPU consisting of four ARM Cortex-A78 cores clocked at up to 3GHz and a five-core ARM Mali-G57 GPU.

It supports up to 4K 60Hz display, AV1 decoding, WiFi 6//6E, and Bluetooth 5. The chipset will make its global debut inside the Acer Chromebook Spin 513, which is scheduled to hit the shelves in June.

HUAWEI P50 Pocket reaches global markets alongside HUAWEI P50 Pro

On January 26, Huawei announced the arrival of HUAWEI P50 Pro and HUAWEI P50 Pocket to multiple international markets like Asia Pacific, Middle East, Africa, Europe, and South America.

The 4G-only premium handsets from the once world’s largest smartphone brand sport the same set of features as the variant sold in China, except for software. The global editions of these devices run EMUI 12 without GMS (Google Mobile Services) instead of HarmonyOS.

Despite their shortcomings in terms of software, Huawei is charging a whopping €1,199 for the HUAWEI P50 Pro (8GB + 256GB) and €1,299 for the HUAWEI P50 Pocket (8GB + 256GB). There’s also a Premium Edition of the latter phone with a unique design and 12GB + 512GB memory configuration for €1,599.

JioPhone 5G could be Jio’s first 5G smartphone

A report on January 25 disclosed that the Indian carrier Jio is working on its first 5G smartphone called JioPhone 5G. This device is expected to go official in June with much better specs than the poorly received JioPhone Next.

The handset is said to come with a 6.5-inch HD+ display (HD+), 13MP (wide) + 2MP (macro) dual camera setup, 8MP selfie camera, side-mounted fingerprint sensor, Qualcomm Snapdragon 480 SoC, 4GB RAM, 32GB storage, 5,000mAh battery, and 18W fast charging.

OnePlus phones might run H₂OOS in the near future

On January 27, popular Indian tech influencer Mukul Sharma tweeted that the unified operating system of OPPO and OnePlus could be called H₂OOS. Since his claim is based on a trademark filing by OnePlus, he could be wrong.

Anyway, the H₂OOS (Water OS) trademark is interesting as it combines the names of OxygenOS (O₂) and the discontinued HydrogenOS (H₂OS). The name has no mention of ColorOS, which the software will be actually based on.

Furthermore, a couple of days before this tweet, a tipster stated that the OnePlus 10 Ultra could debut in H2 2022 as the brand’s first superphone or ultra-premium smartphone. The device is said to house OPPO’s MariSilicon NPU.

HONOR to showcase new products at MWC 2022

HONOR has confirmed to attend MWC 2022. The company has scheduled a launch conference for February 28. The event will kickstart at 1 PM CET.

The brand is teasing the launch of the new Magic series with a quote ‘The Power of Magic’. Unfortunately, nothing is known about the upcoming lineup of handsets.

Micromax IN Note 2 and vivo Y75 5G  debut in India

Micromax launched the IN Note 2 on January 25 as the successor of IN Note 1 for ₹13,490 (4GB + 64GB). The Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra-lookalike phone arrives with a 6.43-inch FHD+ AMOLED display, MediaTek Helio G95 chipset, 48MP (wide) + 5MP (ultra-wide) + 2MP (macro) + 2MP (depth) quad-camera setup, 16MP selfie camera, side-mounte fingerprint sensor, Android 11, 5,000mAh battery, and 30W fast charging.

Chinese handset maker vivo debuted a new budget 5G smartphone called vivo Y75 5G in India on January 27. For ₹21,990 (8GB  +128GB), the phone offers a 6.58-inch FHD+ display (LCD), MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC, 50MP (wide) + 2MP (macro) + 2MP (depth) triple camera setup, 16MP selfie camera, side-mounted fingerprint sensor, Android 12, 5,000mAh battery, and 18W fast charging.

Xiaomi has confirmed to launch the Redmi Note 11S in India on February 9. The device is expected to be accompanied by Redmi Note 11. Ahead of their official announcement in the country, a tipster has disclosed the price of these handsets.

According to Yogesh Brar (@heyitsyogesh), the Redmi Note 11S will either start at ₹16,999 or ₹17,499 in India. On the other hand, the Redmi Note 11 will cost ₹13,999 or ₹14,499 for the base variant.

If the aforementioned price tags are true, then these smartphones will be costlier than their predecessors at launch. For the unaware, the Redmi Note 10 and the Redmi Note 10S started at ₹11,999 and ₹14,999 respectively.

Talking about specifications, the Redmi Note 11S is near identical to the Redmi Note 11 Pro 4G. Hence, we even consider it as a better deal since it offers more value than the Pro 4G for the price.

The Redmi Note 11S is scheduled to debut on Feb. 9 in India. It is likely to be the same device that was recently announced for the global markets. A recent teaser by Redmi India suggested that one or more Note 11 series phones may debut alongside the Redmi Note 11S on Feb. 9.

According to PassionateGeekz, the Note 11 and Note 11S will launch on Feb. 9. The former may come in 4 GB / 6 GB RAM variants, while the latter may arrive with up to 8 GB of RAM. These devices may go on sale for the first time on Feb. 11. Both handsets are expected to arrive in black, white, and blue colors. The same source had recently claimed that the Note 11S may carry a starting price of Rs 17,999 (~$240).

Redmi Note 11 specifications

The Redmi Note 11 has a 6.43-inch AMOLED display that offers a Full HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. It has a front camera of 13-megapixel, and its rear camera setup has a 50-megapixel main camera, an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens along with a pair of 2-megapixel snappers for macro shots and depth effects.

The Note 11 features the Snapdragon 680 chipset, up to 6 GB of LPDDR4x RAM, and up to 128 GB of UFS 2.2 storage. It comes with MIUI 13 based Android 11 OS. It offers other features like a 5,000mAh battery, 33W fast charging, dual stereo speakers, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

The upcoming Feb. 9 launch event will also see the arrival of other Redmi products such as Smart Band Pro fitness tracker and Redmi Smart TV X43 with Dolby Vision support. Probably, the company may hold a separate launch event in March to announce the Redmi Note 11 Pro series.

Recently, Xiaomi took the wraps off the international Redmi Note 11 series. The lineup consists of four models. However, we only found one of them to be the best deal of all. We are talking about the Redmi Note 11S here. This phone bridges the gap between the Redmi Note 11 and the Redmi Note 11 Pro with a balanced set of features, which makes it an irresistible offering from Xiaomi.

Here in this opinion piece, we explain why we feel that most people should opt for the Redmi Note 11S instead of the Redmi Note 11 Pro, especially the 4G variant.

Almost the Same Inside Out

The Redmi Note 11 series brings a new design to Xiaomi’s best-selling smartphone lineup worldwide. The phones now have a flat frame like the newer iPhones. 

However, the one on the Redmi Note 11 Pro 4G/5G is more pronounced than on the Redmi Note 10/10S. Because the latter two handsets have a curved rear panel instead of flat like the former models.

But the Pros are longer, thicker, and heavier. They even have a larger and better display. More on that later.

Like the previous generation, all four devices arrive with dual stereo speakers, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a z-axis linear vibration motor, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, an IR blaster, and NFC (market dependent). 

Interestingly, all of them are backed by an identical 5,000mAh battery. They also feature the same LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.2 storage.

Is the Pro really a PRO?

Pro in the consumer electronics market means better. But it does not say how much better. This is where the problem lies. Neither everyone requires a Pro model, nor every Pro variant offers better value than the vanilla version.

Unfortunately, both the above-mentioned attributes are applicable to the Redmi Note 11 series. This isn’t the case with the previous generation. The Redmi Note 10 Pro (aka Redmi Note 10 Pro Max) offers much more than the lower variants for the asking price.

The Redmi Note 11 Pro duo only offers upgrades in very few categories. As mentioned earlier, the Pros flaunt a larger and better display. They sport a 6.67-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1,200 nits peak brightness. On the other hand, the vanilla and S versions come with a smaller 6.43-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate and 1000 nits peak brightness.

Further, the Pros support 67W fast charging as opposed to 33W fast charging on the other two. Additionally, the Pro 5G has a better and faster Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 chipset.

Apart from the aforementioned features, the Pros literally don’t offer anything else. The Pro 4G in particular has the exact same MediaTek Helio G96 chip as the S.

What’s more bizarre is that all four phones sport the same 8MP ultra-wide camera and 2MP macro camera. Except for vanilla, the remaining three also come with an identical 108MP primary camera. Finally, for some reason, the Pros don’t include the well-received telemacro camera from their predecessors.

The True Champion

We found the Redmi Note 10S to be an unnecessary offering in the Redmi Note 10 series. Because just by spending a bit more, one could get the Redmi Note 10 Pro with a better set of features.

Interestingly, the tables have turned for the Redmi Note 11 series. For this generation, we think the Redmi Note 11S offers better value than the Redmi Note 11 Pro. When compared to their predecessors, Xiaomi has improved the former, while at the same time, it sort of downgraded the latter.

As a result, we crown the Redmi Note 11S as the true champion of its family. Having said that, unlike the Redmi Note 11 Pro 4G, the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G is still worth considering if you live somewhere with good 5G coverage.

Earlier this week, Xiaomi confirmed to launch the Redmi Note 11S in India on February 9. Yesterday, this smartphone went official alongside the rest of the Redmi Note 11 international models at the company’s first global launch event of 2022. Hence, we think that Xiaomi may announce yet another Redmi Note 11 device alongside the Redmi Note 11S in India. Although the company is yet to confirm the second model, our bets are on the vanilla Redmi Note 11.

For the unaware, the standard Redmi Note 11 has a 6.43-inch 90Hz FHD+ AMOLED display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 chipset, 50MP (wide) + 8MP (ultra-wide) + 2MP (macro) + 2MP (depth) quad-camera setup, 13MP selfie camera, dual stereo speakers, side-mounted fingerprint sensor, 5,000mAh battery, and 33W fast charging.

The Redmi Note 11S, on the other hand, has a faster MediaTek Helio G96 chip, a 108MP primary camera, and a 16MP selfie camera. The rest of the specs are the same as the vanilla model, except for memory configurations.

Xiaomi has officially taken the wraps off the Redmi Note 11 series for its teeming fans around the globe. The global variant of the series is made up of the vanilla Note 11, the Redmi Note 11S, Redmi Note 11 Pro, and the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G.

The Redmi Note 11 series was initially announced for the Chinese market in October 2021. The China variant is made up of three models namely the Redmi Note 11, Redmi Note 11 Pro, and the Redmi Note 11 Pro+. The Pro+ is missing from the global lineup while the Note 11 Pro is available in 4G and 5G versions and there is a new Redmi Note 11S model.

The series brings a decent specs lineup to the premium mid-range segment including upgrades in the camera aspect, display, processor, and charging speed. The trio of REdmi Note 11 Pro 5G, Redmi Note 11 Pro, and Redmi Note 11S pack a 108MP main sensor a piece that is engineered to give users an unforgettable camera experience. The sensor is a Samsung HM2 sensor with a large 1/1.52″ sensor size. The camera also utilizes the 9-in-1 pixel binning technology as well as dual native ISO to deliver incredible images with a higher dynamic range and color performance. This ensures you get a vivid shot even in low-light conditions.

The Redmi Note 11 models equally come with dual super linear speakers located at the top and bottom of the phones bringing a complete entertainment experience with immersive stereo sound for gaming or watching videos.

In terms of the processor, the 5G variant of the Redmi Note 11 Pro is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 SoC while the non-5G Redmi Note 11 Pro is fired up by a MediaTek Helio G96 Soc alongside the Redmi Note 11S. The vanilla Note 11 is powered by a Snapdragon 680 chip.

All four models get their juice from a 5,000mAh large-capacity battery. The Pro models come with the flagship-level 67W turbocharging which is touted to deliver up to 5% charge in just 15 minutes. The Redmi Note 11 series was first unveiled in China back in October 2021 and it’s now finally on its way to the global market, although the global variants will have almost nothing in common with their Chinese counterparts. Sure, they carry the same name and their designs are quite comparable but the specifications seem to be differing greatly as well as the pricing.

The global Redmi Note 11 series is comprised of the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G, Note 11 Pro, and Note 11, and below is their quick roundup to help you decide your pick from the trio.

Let’s start off with the priciest among the three. The Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G, just like its name implies, will be the sole 5G-supporting Note 11 model. The 5G bit has been made possible by the Snapdragon 690 5G chipset. Supporting the chip will be RAM/storage in 6GB/64GB, 6GB/128GB, 8GB/128GB configs. The display has been sized 6.6-inch and is an FHD+ AMOLED panel with a refresh rate of 120Hz.

The photography will be handled by a quad-camera setup comprised of a 108MP primary, complemented by 8MP + 2MP + 2MP sensors. The front camera is again expected to offer a 16MP resolution. The battery is identical to the Pro 5G.

Last but not least, we get the standard Redmi Note 11 that’s rumored to feature an FHD+ AMOLED panel with a 90Hz refresh rate. Tasks will be handled by the Snapdragon 680 4G chip. The quad-camera setup at the rear will be topped by a 50MP Samsung ISOCELL JN1 primary sensor. The battery is sized 5,000mAh again, although the charging speed has been reduced to 33W.

All models of the Redmi Note 11 series are expected to come with a stereo speaker setup and boot into Android 11-based MIUI 13 out of the box.

As for pricing, the Redmi Note 11 is expected to start at EUR 250 (~Rs 21,140) but the rest of the models’ pricing remains in the dark.

A promotional page of the Redmi Note 11 is now live on the Vietnamese retailer site, FPTShop.vn. The listing reveals that the handset will go on sale tomorrow in Vietnam. The tipster has shared a screenshot of the Facebook post of the retailer site. It mentions that the device is priced at 4,490,000 (~$198). He added that it will be available with a discounted price of 3,990,000 through a voucher. The Facebook post is no longer accessible, which suggests that it may have been taken down.

The Redmi Note 11 landing page on FPTShop states that the device will be available in two variants such as 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage and 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage. There is a possibility that the Note 11 may go official later today along with the Note 11 Pro 5G and Note 11 Pro+ 5G.

Redmi Note 11 specifications (rumoured)

The global Redmi Note 11 is expected to feature an AMOLED display that offers a Full HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. It will be equipped with the Snapdragon 680 mobile platform.

For photography, it will be fitted with a 50-megapixel quad-camera unit. The handset will draw power from a 5,000mAh battery that supports 33W fast charging.

Xiaomi is all set to unveil the Redmi Note 11 series tomorrow (January 26) for the international markets. We know that one of the models in the lineup, the Redmi Note 11S, will be heading to India on February 9. Today, we have learned that the Redmi Note 11 will be launching in Nepal on January 27. At the same time, the company has also confirmed certain features of the vanilla model.

The global wing of Xiaomi hasn’t revealed any specs of the upcoming Redmi Note 11 series. On the other hand, the Indian division has not only disclosed the design of the Redmi Note 11S but also has set up a dedicated page to tease the features.

The Nepalese division has gone ahead and confirmed some of the specs that have already leaked. But unfortunately, that tweet has been taken down now.

According to that tweet, the Redmi Note 11 will indeed arrive with a 90Hz FHD+ AMOLED display. For the unaware, the Redmi Note 10 has a regular 60Hz FHD+ AMOLED screen. Further, the same deleted tweet also said that the phone will feature dual speakers.

Talking about other features, a retailer listing had recently revealed that the smartphone will come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 chipset, a 50MP quad-camera setup comprising of an ultra-wide as well as a macro shooter, and a 5,000mAh battery with support for 33W fast charging.

Since the device will go official tomorrow, we expect to learn everything about it, except for the price in Nepal, which we think will be disclosed a day later.

Instead, the firm will be debuting new models in its best-selling lineup – the Redmi Note series. At the same time, Micromax will release a new phone in India after a long time. Upcoming Smartphones Next Week

Redmi Note 11 Series

Xiaomi is known for offering smartphones at various price points. But the company’s most popular lineup worldwide is arguably the Redmi Note series. This family of phones is known for offering bang for buck products.

Last year’s Redmi Note 10 series set the bar high for the lineup. Hence, it will be interesting to see how Xiaomi plans to top it. Perhaps, it won’t, as the leaked details point towards an almost similar set of features.

The international Redmi Note 11 series may include at least five models, namely Redmi Note 11, Redmi Note 11S, Redmi Note 11 Pro 4G, Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G, and Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G. But unfortunately, it’s not known surely known which of these models will be announced at the event. Maybe, all of them will go official at once.

Xiaomi’s first-ever global launch event for 2022 is scheduled for January 26. The live stream will kickstart at 8 PM (GMT+8) on the company’s official YouTube channel. The global launch of MIUI 13 may also happen at this conference.

Having said that, here are the details we know so far.

Redmi Note 11

The vanilla Redmi Note 11 is expected to come with a 90Hz FHD+ AMOLED display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 chip, 50MP quad-camera setup comprising ultra-wide and macro shooters, dual stereo speakers, and a 5,000mAh battery with support for 33W fast charging.

It could retail at around $175 for the 4GB + 64GB memory configurations. There could be other memory variants as well.

Redmi Note 11S

The Redmi Note 11S is said to come with a 90Hz AMOLED display, a MediaTek chipset, 108MP (wide) + 8MP (ultra-wide) + 2MP (macro) + 2MP (depth) quad-camera setup, 13MP selfie camera, MIUI 13, and up to 8GB RAM as well as 128GB storage.

This device is also being teased to launch in India on an unspecified date. [Update: February 9]

Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G

The Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G is tipped to feature a 6.6-inch 120Hz FHD+ AMOLED display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 SoC, 6GB/8GB LPDDR4x RAM, 128GB UFS 2.2 storage, 108MP + 8MP + 2MP triple camera setup, 16MP selfie camera, dual stereo speakers, IR blaster, 3.5mm headphone jack, side-mounted fingerprint sensor, 5,000mAh battery, and 67W fast charging.

The handset could arrive in three colors, such as Graphite Gray, Polar White, and Diamond Dazzle.

Redmi Note 11 Pro 4G

The Redmi Note 11 Pro 4G is rumored to have the same design and colors as the Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G. It is also tipped to have a similar set of features, except that it will be powered by a MediaTek Helio G96 chipset.

Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G

Finally, the Redmi Note 11 Pro+ 5G is expected to be the same model that’s sold in China. This phone was recently released in India as Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge.

The main highlights of this device include 120W fast charging, 4,500mAh battery, 120Hz FHD+ AMOLED display, MediaTek Dimensity 920 SoC, dual stereo speakers, side-mounted fingerprint sensor, and more.

Micromax IN Note 2

Apart from the Redmi Note 11 series, we will be also witnessing the launch of Micromax IN Note 2 next week. In fact, this handset will go official a day earlier on January 25 in India.

Though the smartphone has been confirmed to offer an interesting set of features, we cannot deny the fact that it looks like a cheap knock-off of the popular Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra.

Talking about specifications, it will arrive with a 6.43-inch AMOLED display, MediaTek Helio G95 chip, 30W fast charging, and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. Finally, it will sport a glass panel on the rear.

Xiaomi has confirmed to launch the Redmi Note 11 series in international markets on January 26. The company is yet to reveal the models in the family. However, we have already learned about a few of them. In fact, thanks to a retailer listing, we now know almost everything about the vanilla variant.

The baseline Redmi Note 11 has been listed by retailer Shopee on its website with an ₱8,999 ($175) price tag for the 4GB + 64GB variant. The webpage was spotted by Twitter user @swayneverrmind (via Xiaomiui, TechInsider).

The page not only includes the entire spec sheet of the smartphone but also its images and price tag. But what’s bizarre is that the features mentioned in one of the pictures are different than those in the description section.

According to the image, the vanilla Redmi Note 11 will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 680 chipset. It will sport a 90Hz FHD+ AMOLED display, dual stereo speakers, and a 50MP quad-camera setup consisting of an ultra-wide unit and a macro shooter. Finally, it will be backed by a 5,000mAh battery with support for 33W fast charging.

However, the product description says something else altogether. Taking a closer look at the specifications, we realized that the specifications mentioned here are of Redmi 10, which is also known as Redmi 10 Prime in India and Redmi Note 11 4G (lacks 2MP depth sensor) in China.

If the specs mentioned in the picture are true, then the international Redmi Note 11 will be somewhat similar to its predecessor Redmi Note 10, which was discontinued soon due to semiconductor shortages.

Finally, the availability of Redmi Note 11S and Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G is not known. However, we know that at least the former will make its way to India as the company has started teasing it.

As we are still days away from the Xiaomi conference,  we expect to learn more about the aforementioned phones in the coming days.

Redmi Note 11 series comprising of the Redmi Note 11, Note 11 Pro, and Note 11 Pro+ were launched back in October last year. Now, the series is expected to launch in the global markets. Today, Xiaomi itself took it to Twitter revealing the series’ launch date for the global markets.

Xiaomi has revealed that the Redmi Note 11 series will launch on January 26 in the global markets. Although Redmi doesn’t reveal, it is none other than the European market which is getting the handsets.

In the teaser, the company has not revealed which device would exactly release. But, the company is expected to launch more than two smartphones in the market. The handsets are expected to be the Redmi Note 11, Note 11 Pro, and Note 11 Pro 5G.

Notably, previous reports have claimed that the Note 11 series for the European markets will be different. Recently, the global models were spotted on IMEI documentation and these are the model numbers, Redmi Note 11 Pro – 2201116TG and Note 11 Pro 5G – 2201116SG.

The latter, which will be the Note 11 Pro 5G version was spotted online multiple times. The phone packs a 4,700mAh battery with 67W fast charging support. The phone was seen running on the latest MIUI 13 and has the following configurations – 6GB/64GB, 6GB/128GB, 8GB/128GB.

Apart from this model, the Note 11 Pro(non-5G) may come with slightly tweaked specs to that of the 5G model. The vanilla Note 11 was recently tipped to arrive in three variants – 4GB/64GB, 4GB/128GB, 6GB/128GB. The device may power the budget Snapdragon 680 SoC. It could come with a flat-edge design and is expected to boast an IPS panel.

Xiaomi had just launched the highly awaited Redmi Note 11 series in China last month. Now, listings of the Note 11, Note 11 Pro, and Note 11 Pro+ on certifications portals have revealed that the global launch for these devices might be right around the corner.

According to a 91Mobiles report, Mukul Sharma revealed that the global variants of the Note 11 Pro and Note 11 Pro+ have entered internal testing in Europe. In other words, the two smartphones might be launching in the global markets soon. The report adds that the Chinese tech giant might launch the new Redmi handsets in European markets first, before launching it in other regions across the globe.

Both models are also expected to feature the same model number and specifications as their Chinese variants. Similarly, the Note 11 Pro and Note 11 Pro+ were also spotted on the IMEI database and the BIS with 21091116I and 21091116UI model numbers respectively. As per a previous report, Xiaomi is also expected to launch these smartphones in India as rebranded Xiaomi 11i and Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge.

Last month, Redmi unveiled the Redmi Note 11, Note 11 Pro, and Note 11 Pro+ in China. Soon after its launch, the company confirmed that it sold 500,000 units within one hour of making the Note 11 series available for purchase. A fresh report by ThePIxel.vn talks about the arrival of the Note 11 series in Vietnam and global markets. The report reveals that the Note 11 lineup will have a completely different design and they will feature Snapdragon chipsets for markets outside China.

As it is known, the Redmi Note 11 is powered by the Dimensity 810 chip, whereas the Note 11 Pro and Pro+ are driven by the Dimensity 920 SoC. According to the publication, the Note 11 heading to Vietnam and other global markets will feature the Snapdragon chipset. The report also claims that the Snapdragon variants will be also heading to China with different monikers.

The report claims that the Snapdragon SoC powered Note 11 models are debuting in the first quarter of 2022. It is unclear why Xiaomi has decided to use Snapdragon SoCs instead of Dimensity chips on Note 11 series for global markets.

Tipster Chun has speculated that it could be because of the short amount of Dimensity chip stocked in Xiaomi’s facility. He had previously speculated that the recently unveiled Snapdragon 778G Plus and Snapdragon 695 could be present under the global editions of the Note 11 models.

In related news, a recent leak revealed Redmi Note 11 that debuted in India is expected to arrive as the Redmi Note 11T 5G. In addition, the Note 11 Pro and Pro+ are expected to debut as Xiaomi 11i and Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge. It remains to be seen whether India will also receive the Snapdragon editions of the Note 11 lineup.

In order to let you find out, we decided to compare it to the other best phones in the same price range. For this specs comparison, we chose the Realme 8 5G and the OPPO A74 because they are among the most interesting Chinese phones you can currently find for less than €200 in the European market. Note that the OPPO A74 present in this comparison is the 4G variant and not the 5G one.

Xiaomi POCO M4 Pro vs Realme 8 5G vs OPPO A74

Design

Due to its chunky body, the POCO M4 Pro 5G is not exactly the best phone when it comes to design. The OPPO A74 is definitely more good-looking not only because it has a more minimal design, but also because it is more compact, thinner, and lighter than its two rivals. The Realme 8 5G sits right in the middle: it does not come with the same huge camera module as the POCO M4 Pro 5G, but it is not as compact as the OPPO A74.

Display

The biggest advantage of the OPPO A74 is the display: it is the only one in the trio which comes with an AMOLED panel and it guarantees brighter colors and deeper blacks. Further, it has a smaller panel that is easier to use with one hand and a high 800 nit peak brightness. It even comes with an in-display fingerprint reader for authentication instead of a side-mounted one. The POCO M4 Pro 5G and the Realme 8 5G have similar displays: they are Full HD+ panels with a 90 Hz refresh rate, but the POCO M4 Pro 5G is the only one to feature a variable refresh rate (it switches between 50 Hz, 60 Hz, and 90 Hz).

Hardware/Software

The best hardware is provided by the POCO M4 Pro 5G equipped with the new Mediatek Dimensity 810 mobile platform built at 6 nm. Then we got the Realme 8 5G with a Mediatek Dimensity 700, while the OPPO A74 takes third place not only because its Snapdragon 662 processor is inferior, but also because it lacks the 5G support. Note that Realme 8 5G has a configuration offering more RAM if compared to the POCO M4 Pro 5G: up to 8 GB instead of just 6 GB. On the other hand, POCO M4 Pro 5G has a faster UFS 2.2 internal storage.

Camera

The POCO M4 Pro 5G is equipped with the most advanced rear camera: a 50 MP sensor paired with an 8 MP ultrawide lens. The OPPO A74 has a 48 MP camera that is able to offer decent low light performance thanks to a bright f/1.7 aperture, but it lacks an ultrawide sensor. The Realme 8 5G is the worst one with its 48 MP triple camera and an f/1.8 focal aperture.

Battery

These phones all come with a 5000 mAh battery, but the OPPO A74 lasts more in a lot of scenarios because it has an AMOLED display with a standard refresh rate. And, alongside the POCO M4 Pro 5G, it has the fastest charging tech.

POCO M4 Pro 5G launched in Europe with a starting price tag of just €199/$230 and you can find the OPPO A74 at the same price thanks to online deals, while the Realme 8 5G costs even less than €199. Last week, we compared the Redmi Note 11 to the older Redmi Note 10 in order to let you understand what’s changed between the two generations of budget phones. But the vanilla Note 10 does not support 5G connectivity and there is another variant of the same series that supports 5G. We think it is important to compare the Redmi Note 11 and the Redmi Note 10 5G as well in order to give you a complete panorama about the two handsets in case you are deciding which phone to buy in the next future. Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 vs Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 5G

Design

Redmi Note 11 and Redmi Note 10 5G are very similar when it comes to aesthetics, but they differ in a few details. They are both made of polycarbonate, but the Redmi Note 10 5G is slightly more compact because it packs a smaller display. On the other hand, the Redmi Note 11 has the IP53 certification thanks to which it is dust resistant and splash resistant. The main difference in the design is the rear camera module with the same silver accent around the main cameras but positioned in a different way. The Redmi Note 11 has more beautiful color variants, in my honest opinion. The thickness and the weight of these phones are more or less the same.

Display

The diagonal of the displays are changed, but the specifications remain the same. The Redmi Note 11 has a 6.6-inch panel, while the Redmi Note 10 5G has 6.5 inches. They are both IPS displays with a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400p and a 90 Hz refresh rate. The fingerprint reader is mounted at the side, on the power key. Note that Redmi Note 11 has stereo speakers, while the Redmi Note 10 5G has a mono speaker: that means the former provides better audio quality. Both are equipped with a 3.5 mm audio jack to connect wired earphones and speakers.

Hardware/Software

The Redmi Note 11 features an important improvement in terms of hardware: it has the new Mediatek Dimensity 810 mobile platform running at 2.4 GHz composed of 2 Cortex-A76 CPUs, 6 Cortex-A55 running at 2 GHz, and a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU. The Redmi Note 10 5G has a weaker Mediatek Dimensity 700 chipset running at 2.2 GHz, but it offers a wider variety of memory configurations. Both the handsets are equipped with up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of UFS 2.2 native storage, and both are based on Android 11, but the Redmi Note 11 runs MIUI 12.5 instead of MIUI 12 out of the box.

Camera

The Redmi Note 11 destroys the Redmi Note 10 5G when it comes to the cameras and this is the most important advantage of this new device. On the rear side, it sports a 50 MP main camera and an 8 MP ultrawide sensor, while the Redmi Note 10 5G has an inferior 48 MP main camera and a pair of useless 2 MP sensors for macros and depth (it lacks an ultrawide camera). Further, the Redmi Note 11 has a better 16 MP front camera, while the selfie camera of the Redmi Note 10 5G is a bad 8 MP sensor.

Battery

Redmi Note 11 and Redmi Note 10 5G are equipped with a 5000 mAh battery, but despite the battery capacities being the same, the Redmi Note 11 provides a longer battery life because its processor is more efficient (the Dimensity 810 is built at 6 nm). Further, it supports a faster charging technology with a power of 33W instead of just 18W.

You can find the Redmi Note 10 5G for less than €150/$174 in China, while Redmi Note 11 starts from €160/$185. The Redmi Note 11 wins this comparison thanks to a better camera, better chipset, and faster charging, and despite costing more, it even offers a higher value for money.

The Redmi Note 11 series went official and it contains some of the most affordable 5G phones in the market. Even the Redmi Note 11 this year comes with 5G connectivity, as well as a new chipset, a new sensor for the camera setup, and other interesting specifications. But is it enough to beat the other budget 5G phones in the market or there is something better released this year? This is a comparison between the specifications of the Redmi Note 11, the Realme 8 5G, and the Samsung Galaxy M32 5G: three of the best and most affordable 5G phones released this year which might cannibalize the sales of the Redmi Note 11.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 vs Realme 8 5G vs Samsung Galaxy M32 5G

Design

My favorite design belongs to the Realme 8 5G: it looks cleaner and more minimal. But a lot of people may prefer the Redmi Note 11 due to its amazing gradient color options. Its big and bicolor camera module does not match my tastes, but I have to recognize that Redmi Note 11 is a very interesting device in terms of aesthetics. Further, it has the IP53 certification making it dust resistant and splash resistant. The Samsung Galaxy M32 5G has a very beautiful rear design with sensors placed directly in the cover and without a camera module, but its front panel is uglier because it comes with a waterdrop notch.

Display

The Samsung Galaxy M32 5G loses the display comparison because it has an inferior panel. It is a TFT display, while Redmi Note 11 and Realme 8 5G come with a better IPS panel. Further, the Samsung Galaxy M32 5G has a lower HD+ resolution and a lower refresh rate (standard with 60 Hz). With Redmi Note 11 and Realme 8 5G, you get a Full HD+ resolution and a higher 90 Hz refresh rate. The Redmi Note 11 has a slightly wider display with a diagonal of 6.6 inches, while Realme 8 5G stops at 6.5 inches.

Hardware/Software

Redmi Note 11 has the most advanced hardware department because it comes with a stronger processor: the new Mediatek Dimensity 810 5G built at 6 nm with a max frequency of 2.4 GHz. The chip is paired with up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of internal storage. Realme 8 5G takes the silver medal with a Mediatek Dimensity 700 SoC, up to 8 GB of RAM, and up to 128 GB of UFS 2.1 internal storage, but Samsung Galaxy M32 5G is not so far: it actually comes with a better processor, but it has an inferior eMMC storage. All of these phones run Android 11.

Camera

The most versatile camera department belongs to the Samsung Galaxy M32 5G which sports a quad camera 48 MP main sensor, an 8 MP ultrawide lens, a 5 MP macro camera, and a 2 MP depth sensor. Redmi Note 11 has just two cameras on the rear, but the main camera is superior: a newer 50 MP sensor provides a better photo quality. Realme 8 5G loses because it lacks an ultrawide camera.

Battery

The battery capacity is the same on all of these devices: 5000 mAh. But the Samsung Galaxy M32 5G should offer a longer battery life because of its lower resolution and refresh rate. Redmi Note 11 has faster charging (33W).

Redmi Note 11 starts from €160/$185 in China and it is still not available globally. Realme 8 5G and Samsung Galaxy M32 5G cost less than €200/$232 globally. The Redmi Note 11 is a superior handset thanks to its better chipset, faster charging, and better main camera sensor.

Lu Weibing, President of Xiaomi Group China and GM of the Redmi brand, yesterday posted on Weibo announcing that the Redmi Note 9 5G will soon be delisted in China. It will be replaced by the Redmi Note 10 and Note 11 series.

The discontinuation will be done after November 11’s Singles Day sale. For those unfamiliar, Singles Day is a Chinese unofficial holiday and shopping season that’s not unlike America’s Black Friday.

While the exact Redmi Note 9 series model to be discontinued has gone unmentioned, it’s most likely the Redmi Note 9 5G (Mi 10i). The phone may be joined by the delisting of the entire Redmi Note 9 series as well, comprised of the likes of the Redmi Note 9S and Redmi Note 9 Pro.

There hasn’t been any word if the discontinuation will be carried forward outside of China as well, although it is quite possible.

It sure is quite early for the series to die considering it made its debut only last year, but it is now superseded by the Redmi Note 10 series followed by the Redmi Note 11 series, so it figures. Xiaomi would not want the older models to cannibalize the sales of the newer models.

The Redmi Note 10 series saw great success when it went live in March this year and the Redmi Note 11 lineup seems to be following in its footsteps. The latter first went on sale on November 1st and sold over 500,000 units in just an hour.

The Redmi Note 11 Pro+ comes with some pretty compelling specs including a 120Hz Samsung AMOLED panel, 120W fast charging support, JBL stereo speakers, and a boxier design.

Each of these two devices has its pro and cons: while the former comes with a few important improvements such as the presence of the 5G connectivity, the latter currently delivers a higher value for money due to its more affordable street prices. So which one should people buy at this moment? Let’s discover it through this comparison between the specifications of the Redmi Note 11 and the Redmi Note 10.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 vs Xiaomi Redmi Note 10

Design

There are no impressive changes in terms of design between the Redmi Note 11 and its predecessor. Both the phones have a rear cover and a profile made of polycarbonate. There is an important difference in the camera module: it is larger on the Redmi Note 11, despite the new phone includes a lower amount of sensor on the rear side. Further, the Redmi Note 10 is thinner and lighter, as well as a more compact phone because it houses a smaller display. Both the phones have the IP53 certification making them dust resistant and splash resistant. The display is protected by Corning’s Gorilla Glass.

Display

Despite it being an older model, the Redmi Note 10 actually comes with a better display. It has a Super AMOLED panel with a diagonal of 6.43 inches and a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2400 pixels.  The new Redmi Note 11 has a higher 90 Hz refresh rate and the same Full HD+ resolution, but the panel is an IPS. The Super AMOLED technology provides brighter colors and deeper black, delivering a better overall image quality. Note that Redmi Note 10 has a smaller display: 6.43 inches vs 6.6 inches. On both phones, the fingerprint reader is mounted at the side, on the power key.

Hardware/Software

While it is an inferior device when it comes to display quality, the Redmi Note 11 has a much better hardware department thanks to its superior mobile platform. We are talking about the new MediaTek Dimensity 810 chipset built at 6 nm and running at a frequency of 2.4 GHz. Unlike the Snapdragon 678 found on the Redmi Note 10, the Dimensity 810 features the 5G connectivity, and it even provides higher CPU and GPU performance. Last but not least, you can get more RAM with the Redmi Note 11: up to 8 GB, while the max amount of RAM provided by the Redmi Note 10 is 6 GB. Redmi Note 11 and Redmi Note 10 are based on Android 11 but with different versions of Xiaomi’s own Android customization: MIUI 12.5 and MIUI 12, respectively.

Camera

The Redmi Note 11 has just two cameras on the rear side: a 50 MP main sensor and an 8 MP ultrawide camera. The Redmi Note 10 has a total of four rear cameras: a 48 MP main sensor, the same ultrawide camera with an 8 MP resolution, and a pair of 2 MP sensors for macros and depth calculation. Despite the lower amount of cameras, the Redmi Note 11 captures better photos in most of the scenarios, thanks to its better main camera. Even the selfie camera is better on the Note 11: it is a 16 MP sensor that is able to capture brighter photos with a higher detail if compared to the 13 MP front camera of the Note 10.

Battery

Redmi Note 11 and Redmi Note 10 are equipped with exactly the same battery coming with a capacity of 5000 mAh and 33W fast charging. But despite that, the battery life is different because they have different components. The AMOLED display of the Note 10 has a lower consumption, while the Dimensity 810 of the Note 11 is more efficient: so which device will provide the longest battery life? It mostly depends on the usage. For example, the Note 11 will last more in standby, while the Note 10 might achieve a higher screen time.

Redmi Note 11 starts from €160/$184 in China and it is still not available globally, while Redmi Note 10 used to cost more than €210/$243, but now it is available at very affordable street prices under €150/$175. Xiaomi kicked off its Double 11 sale on 1st November and the company has revealed some impressive numbers. Within an hour of the commencement of the sale, the company managed to sell 500,000 units of the Redmi Note 11 series smartphones.

Now, the company has revealed that it managed to sell products worth more than 7 billion yuan (approximately $1.93 billion) on the first day of the Double 11 sale. With this, it has also become the leading company in terms of smartphone sales across all platforms.

Xiaomi has revealed that it sold products worth 2 billion yuan in just one minute and 45 seconds and the numbers doubled to 4 billion yuan in 52 minutes and 11 seconds. In less than nine hours, the company sold 5 billion yuan worth of products.

The numbers indicate significant growth for Xiaomi in terms of Double 11 sales when compared to last year. The company had managed to sell products worth 1 billion yuan in 20 minutes on the first day of Double 11 sale last year and the total for the whole day stood at 4 billion yuan.

Apart from selling 500,000 units of the Redmi Note 11 series within an hour, the company also managed to sell over 28,000 units of the Redmi Watch 2 worth 10 million yuan ($1.56 million) in just 2 hours.

In related news, Chinese e-commerce giant JD.com sold more than 190 million items in just four hours after it kicked off the Double 11 shopping festival campaign. On the other hand, Alibaba‘s Tmall said that in just one hour after the sale, more than 2,600 brands saw their sales surpass last year’s first day sales.
