Nubia just released a new pair of wired earbuds under its Red Magic gaming brand in China. They are called the Gaming Headset, and they are currently selling on JD.com for 89 yuan ($13).

The most practical aspect of this release is that Nubia is offering two separate versions: one with a standard 3.5mm headphone jack and another with a USB-C connector. This is a logical split, giving users an option whether they are plugging into an older laptop or a modern smartphone that lacks a dedicated headphone port.

Inside the casing, the earbuds use 14.2mm dynamic drivers. According to the spec sheet, the earphones (model number WH4008) have a frequency response range of 20Hz to 20kHz and a rated power output of 5mW. Because these are branded specifically for gaming, Nubia says that the audio profile is tuned to help players hear specific in-game audio cues. The composite diaphragm is set up to make things like footsteps and gunfire stand out, which is a standard approach for gaming audio gear meant to help with spatial awareness during multiplayer matches.

As for the physical design, Nubia went with a semi-in-ear shape rather than using silicone tips that seal off the ear canal. This style usually works well for people who find standard in-ear monitors uncomfortable during long gaming or listening sessions. The earpieces have a space gray metallic finish with basic laser-engraved RedMagic branding. The cable itself is made from a flexible material that is meant to resist tangling when stored in a pocket or backpack.

Attached to the cable is a standard three-button inline remote. It includes a built-in microphone for voice chats and phone calls. The buttons cover the usual everyday functions: you can adjust the volume, play or pause music, skip tracks, answer or reject calls, and trigger your device’s voice assistant without having to touch your screen.

The Red Magic 11S Pro+ claimed the top spot with a benchmark score of 4,171,821, the highest AnTuTu score recorded for any Android flagship this month. Hot on its heels is the iQOO 15 Ultra in second place with 4,144,802 points, followed closely by the Vivo X300 Ultra Satellite Communication Edition in third with 4,103,004.

The remaining spots from fourth to tenth go to the iQOO 15, Red Magic 11 Pro+, Realme GT8 Pro, Oppo Find X9 Ultra Satellite Communication Edition, Honor WIN, iQOO 15T, and Honor Magic 8 Pro.

Vivo’s big month

The biggest winner of May is arguably Vivo. Between its main Vivo brand and its sub-brand iQOO, the company placed four models on the list. Red Magic and Honor each secured two spots, while Oppo and Realme claimed one each.

Likewise, the most telling story from this month’s rankings is the chipset breakdown. Nine out of the ten phones run on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen5, with only one, the realme GT8 Pro, powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500. 

Both chips are the very top of the mobile processor market, but Qualcomm’s raw performance lead is clearly reflected in these scores. This likely explains why most premium Android brands continue to default to Qualcomm for their flagship devices, and that trend shows no signs of reversing anytime soon.

One notable absence this month is Xiaomi. The brand, which has appeared on and off in past rankings, failed to place a single device in the top ten for May.

A new Geekbench 6 listing believed to belong to the upcoming RedMagic 11S Pro+ has reportedly crossed the 4000-point mark in single-core performance, something that, according to Chinese blogger @肥威, no Android phone had legitimately managed before on the platform.

Multiple Geekbench 6 listings for the device surfaced on May 10 under the model number nubia NX809J. One particular entry reportedly crossed the 4000-point mark in single-core performance, scoring around 4010 points before later disappearing from the database. Even so, several remaining listings still show extremely high scores in the 3900+ range for single-core performance, alongside even stronger multi-core results exceeding 12,000 points in some cases. Altogether, the benchmark results line up pretty closely with RedMagic’s continued focus on aggressive performance tuning and overclocking.

RedMagic recently talked about its overclocking process and how it selects the “best of the best” Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chips, which could explain the jump in peak performance. In simple terms, the company claims to be cherry-picking the strongest chips it can get. There’s also another interesting detail here: instead of the usual Qualcomm ARMv8 labeling, the benchmark references a “QTI SM8850 3628 MHz (8 cores)” configuration.

Of course, raw clock speed only matters if the phone can actually sustain it without overheating. That’s where RedMagic’s cooling setup comes in. The 11S Pro+ is expected to feature an upgraded active cooling fan alongside vapor chamber and liquid-cooling-style thermal systems, continuing the company’s usual approach of prioritizing performance above almost everything else.

According to RedMagic, the chips go through three separate rounds of testing before qualifying for the “Leading Version” label. One of those tests involves running at extremely high clock speeds, and only chips capable of maintaining stable operation at 4.74GHz make it to the next stage.

From there, the selected chips are pushed through additional voltage and frequency stress testing under extreme conditions to evaluate stability, heat, and power efficiency. In simple terms, RedMagic is essentially binning the best-performing Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chips for the 11S Pro.

For context, most Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 phones so far, including devices from Xiaomi, iQOO, and OnePlus, top out at 4.61GHz. Then there’s the software tuning side of things, which tends to be more conservative on mainstream flagships like Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra.

The end result, at least according to RedMagic’s teaser material, is a phone capable of running over 200 supported games at up to 2K resolution and 144fps, including titles like Call of Duty and “Break Through the Dark Zone.” The company also mentions support for resolution upscaling and frame interpolation during gameplay.

Of course, higher clocks don’t automatically mean better gaming experience. Sustained performance matters more, and that’s usually where RedMagic tries to separate itself. The company has spent the last few generations aggressively experimenting with vapor chambers, internal fans, liquid cooling, basically anything that helps keep the chip running harder for longer. The Cooler 8 Pro features a 1640 mm² semiconductor TEC cooling plate with 124 pairs of PN junction micro cooling pumps. Red Magic claims this design improves cooling performance by 130% compared to the previous generation. The cooler delivers up to 36W of cooling power, reducing surface temperatures by as much as 80°C under heavy loads. It can reach an idle cooling temperature as low as –25°C.

Red Magic equips the Cooler 8 Pro with an 11-blade fan that spins at up to 6500 RPM. The fan works alongside a large aviation-grade aluminum heat sink to dissipate heat efficiently. The vertical airflow design pushes hot air upwards and downwards, ensuring comfort during extended gaming sessions.

The cooler uses 52 neodymium magnets that provide a magnetic force of about 14N. These magnets securely attach the cooler to compatible smartphones, keeping it stable during gaming or movement.

The company posted an early teaser for the upcoming Red Magic Gaming Tablet 5 Pro, which will succeed the Red Magic Astra. That device originally launched in China as the Red Magic Gaming Tablet 3 Pro before getting a global rebrand.

The teaser highlights a compact form factor, suggesting the new model will stick closer to the Astra’s portable design rather than the larger Red Magic Nova. Red Magic hasn’t revealed specifications yet, and there’s no confirmed launch date either. The only message for now is that the tablet is “coming soon.”

The timing is interesting because compact gaming tablets are suddenly getting more attention. Lenovo’s Legion Tab Gen 5 currently stands out as one of the first in this category to feature Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Given Red Magic’s focus on gaming hardware, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Gaming Tablet 5 Pro use the same chip, paired with a high-refresh display and the brand’s typical active cooling system.

Red Magic has followed a fairly predictable launch pattern in the past. The previous model arrived in China first in June 2025, then appeared internationally about a month later under the Astra name. The new tablet could follow a similar path, debuting in China before a wider global release sometime later in 2026.

The Astra itself already packed strong hardware for its size. It featured a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, a 9.06-inch 2.4K OLED display, up to 24GB of RAM, and an internal cooling fan. The upcoming model will likely build on that formula, possibly adding higher refresh rates, improved triggers, or a larger battery.

For now, though, Red Magic is only offering a small preview. More details should emerge soon as the company moves closer to announcing the Gaming Tablet 5 Pro.

AnTuTu’s Android performance rankings for February 2026 are out, and there’s a new device at the top.

The iQOO 15 Ultra has claimed the number one spot on the flagship list, ending the recent streak of the Red Magic 11 Pro+. With an average score of 4.2 million points, the iQOO phone now sets the pace for Android performance this month. 

The Red Magic 11 Pro+, which had held onto first place in previous rankings, slips to second with an average of 4.16 million. Irrespective of numbers, both phone runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor. 

In third place is the Vivo X300 Pro Satellite Communication Edition, powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 chipset. It posts an average score of 4.08 million. Not to mention, it’s also the only MediaTek-powered phone on the list. 

It’s all Snapdragon moving forward

From the Realme GT 8 Pro at fourth to the Redmi K90 Pro Max at tenth spot, all use a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip at the helm.

So it’s unsurprising to say that the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 has become the mainstream choice for high-end Android devices. Multiple phones powered by the chip are now comfortably crossing the 4 million mark in AnTuTu’s scoring system. 

It’s also worth noting how AnTuTu calculates these rankings. The published score reflects the average of all benchmark results recorded for each model during the month, not the single highest score a device may achieve.

That means the numbers can differ from marketing claims or isolated screenshots circulating online. In theory, the average score should provide a more realistic reference point for day-to-day performance.

Red Magic has announced the launch of the Red Magic Cooler 8 Pro, which will go on sale at 7:00 PM on March 9. The cooler is priced at 269 yuan (approximately $39) and is now available for pre-orders across all platforms. This device serves as the successor to the Magnetic Cooler 6 Pro, which debuted last year.

According to images on the pre-order page, the Red Magic Cooler 8 Pro offers 36W of cooling power, capable of reducing temperatures by up to 80°C under specific test conditions. It features an advanced thermoelectric cooling module, designed to actively dissipate heat and stabilize device performance during heavy usage, such as gaming or multitasking.

Under controlled conditions, the cooler can achieve a minimum temperature of -25°C, making it an excellent choice for maintaining full-frame-rate performance during demanding mobile gaming sessions. Despite its powerful cooling, the Cooler 8 Pro operates at a minimal noise level of 36dB.

Internal tests reveal impressive results: the cooler reduced the surface temperature of a constant 10W heat source from 95°C to 15°C in just 20 minutes.

The Cooler 8 Pro has been demonstrated on an iPhone in promotional images, confirming its MagSafe compatibility. It is expected to work with a wide range of devices, including the latest Pixel phones, Xiaomi models, and other smartphones with protective cases.

The Cooler 8 Pro brings several upgrades over its predecessor, the Cooler 6 Pro, which featured 30W cooling power and was priced at 239 yuan (approximately $34). The Cooler 6 Pro could reduce device temperatures by up to 41°C (minimum -16°C) and included a larger TEC plate, a graphene-infused heat sink, and a seven-blade fan for enhanced cooling and quiet operation (35dB).

We’ve seen Android phones get ridiculously powerful over the past few years, but this might be one of the clearest signs yet that mobile hardware is entering serious PC territory.

In a recent video, ETA Prime managed to run Cyberpunk 2077 locally on the Red Magic 11 Pro. No cloud streaming, no remote desktop tricks, just straight-up emulation. That alone is impressive. But the performance numbers make it even more interesting.

The Red Magic 11 Pro, powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, handled the game at 720p with the lowest graphics preset. AMD FSR 2.1 upscaling was set to Balanced mode. Without frame generation enabled, the game hovered around 30 FPS, dipping into the high 20s during heavier scenes.

Once FSR frame generation was turned on, performance improved noticeably. Frame rates jumped past 40 FPS consistently and even touched 50 FPS in lighter sections. On a phone screen, that’s surprisingly playable for a title that once pushed high-end gaming PCs to their limits.

ETA Prime also tried the Steam Deck preset, which slightly improves visuals while keeping FSR Balanced. Performance initially dropped to around 20 FPS, but enabling frame generation brought it back up to roughly 40 FPS. The tradeoff? Some visible artifacts and ghosting, which isn’t unexpected when relying on aggressive frame interpolation.

Under the hood, the Snapdragon chip was clearly working hard. CPU usage sat between 60% and 80%, while GPU usage ranged from 50% to 60%.

To be clear, this isn’t a replacement for a console or gaming laptop. But the fact that Cyberpunk 2077 can run locally on a smartphone at playable frame rates would’ve sounded ridiculous just a few years ago.

Now? It’s happening. And if this is where mobile silicon is today, the next couple of generations could get very interesting for portable gaming.

Red Magic lists January 29 at 12:00 UTC as the global launch time. Based on the company’s usual release pattern, this date is unlikely to be the start of direct sales. Nubia’s gaming-focused RedMagic brand has officially unveiled its latest smartphone, the RedMagic 11 Air. As expected, the new device doubles down on everything the company believes gamers want, but in a relatively slim form factor for a RedMagic standard. 

The RedMagic 11 Air retains the company’s signature transparent design. On the back, RedMagic says the design is inspired by vinyl records, racing tracks, and geometric art. There’s also an RGB-lit active cooling fan, because of course there is.

The front is made up of a large 6.85-inch AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution and a smooth 144Hz refresh rate. RedMagic calls it a “true full screen” because it uses an under-display 16MP camera. The screen also supports high-frequency 2592Hz PWM dimming and DC dimming, with ultra-thin 1.25mm bezels and a 95.1 percent screen-to-body ratio.

Powering the phone is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite processor paired with RedMagic’s own Redcore R4 gaming chip. It also includes LPDDR5X RAM, UFS 4.1 storage, and a self-developed CUBE Sky Engine for performance optimization.

The company claims the phone delivers more stable frame rates than rival devices using MediaTek’s Dimensity 9500 chip, and supports 144Hz modes in many titles.

Being a RedMagic phone, you also get professional shoulder trigger buttons with a 520Hz touch sampling rate, as well as a complex cooling system featuring an aerospace-grade aluminum bracket, graphene copper foil, and a 4D vapor chamber. The built-in fan and dual-track cooling system are designed to keep temperatures under control during long play sessions.

As for the battery, the phone packs a massive 7000mAh battery with support for 120W wired fast charging and bypass charging for gaming. It runs REDMAGIC OS 11.0 and includes AI-powered features like image search, real-time translation, object recognition, and even an AI tactical coach that can offer tips while you play. 

With all of this, the device measures 7.85mm. Not particularly slim for a phone with Air branding, but it is the industry’s thinnest phone with a built-in fan.

The RedMagic 11 Air starts at 3,699 yuan (around $530) for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage version. The higher-end 16GB + 512GB model is priced at 4,399 yuan (~$631). Buyers can choose between Quantum Black and Stardust White at launch, while an Aurora Silver version will arrive in March.

On the hardware side, the phone features a 6.85-inch display with a 144Hz refresh rate and a near full-screen design, reportedly reaching a 95.1% screen-to-body ratio. RedMagiic says the 24,000RPM active cooling fan helps maintain performance during extended play. Shoulder triggers and support for the CUBE gaming engine are also included.

Nubia continues to tease its upcoming RedMagic 11 Air smartphone, which is set to launch in China on January 20. After the official renders and color options, the company has now revealed more information about its cooling system — or more specifically, an active cooling fan.

The hardware, branded as “Wind Chaser 4.0,” can reportedly hit a top speed of 24,000RPM, matching the number seen on the RedMagic 11 Pro+. It sits inside an aerospace-grade aluminum air-cooled bracket on top of the PCB. While this is a fairly standard implementation of an active cooling fan in smartphones, what makes this device stand out — or at least makes it seem standout — is the “Air” branding. This is said to be an industry-first “Air” branded phone with an active cooling fan.

The teaser also includes big claims regarding the VC cooling system. As per the brand, an “industry-first ultra-thick ice-step VC cooling design” improves the heat dissipation capacity of the vapor chamber by 47% and has also received national invention patent certification. That said, the teaser skipped any mention of the phone’s ingress protection.

The RedMagic 11 Air is said to pack a 7,000mAh battery, which is also a standout number for an “Air” model. So what about the thickness and weight?

Well, this won’t sound jaw-dropping if you’re picturing it as an iPhone Air with active cooling. A thickness of 7.85mm and a reported weight of 207g should be considered normal rather than thin and lightweight. But considering the specs mentioned above, this is still a very appealing option.

To recall, the RedMagic 11 Pro+ from October last year came with an 8.9mm chassis, packed a 7,500mAh battery, and weighed 230g.

According to previous reports, the RedMagic 11 Air’s active cooling system will be paired with the brand’s Cube gaming engine, a self-developed Red Core R4 esports chip, and a built-in PC emulator. Some people may also like the “transparent” aesthetic of this new model.

The upcoming gaming phone will launch in three colorways, namely Stardust White, Quantum Black, and Aurora Silver. While this includes the classic black and white colors, the gray variant even has orange accents for added depth.

This orange hue is found on the power button, some design elements, and even in the camera rings. Furthermore, the Red Magic 11 Air can be seen with a triple camera setup on the rear along with the company’s brand logo, which houses RGB lighting that complements the gaming aesthetic. According to Nubia, the Red Magic 11 Air is positioned as a full-fledged performance flagship and features a true full-screen design with no notch or punch-hole, enabled by a 16-megapixel under-display front camera. The phone also adopts a fully transparent design across the lineup and includes dedicated gaming shoulder triggers.

A key highlight is its active cooling system, which combines a high-speed internal fan with an ultra-thick 4D Ice-Step vapour chamber to improve thermal efficiency. The device also integrates Red Magic’s Cube gaming engine, a self-developed Red Core R4 esports chip, and a built-in PC emulator.

Back in November 2025, the Red Magic 11 Air was spotted on China’s TENAA certification database with the model number NX799J. The listing revealed that the phone will feature a 6.85-inch OLED display with a resolution of 1216 x 2688 pixels and support for a 120Hz refresh rate. It also confirmed a rated 6,780mAh battery, which translates to an advertised capacity of around 7,000mAh.

The TENAA data further suggests that the Red Magic 11 Air will offer configurations of up to 24GB RAM and 1TB of internal storage, while the base model could start with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. Camera details include a 50-megapixel primary rear camera paired with an 8-megapixel ultra-wide sensor.

Although the chipset name was not disclosed on TENAA, the phone was recently spotted on Geekbench earlier this month, featuring the Snapdragon 8 Elite processor.

The company officially shared the first teaser today, confirming the name. But what exactly should you expect from an ultra-light phone made by a gaming-focused brand? Thanks to tipster Smart Pikachu on China’s Weibo, we already have a near-complete picture of the specs.

Red Magic 11 Air Specifications (Rumored) 

According to the leak, the device is built around a 6.85-inch OLED display and is powered by last year’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. The latter has, in fact, been confirmed via its Geekbench appearance, where it scored 3075 points in single-core and 9934 in multi-core tests. As for the battery, it packs a 7,000mAh cell with 120W fast-charging support.

All of these specs are what you would expect from a regular, decently weighted smartphone: a big display, a top-tier chip, and a large battery. It also seems that the Red Magic 11 Air is a regular smartphone disguised with an “Air” moniker.

The tipster suggests that the phone will be 7.85mm thick and weigh 207 grams. That aligns more with a standard slab phone than the slim iPhone Air, which weighs just 165 grams and measures 5.6mm thick.

The only justification we can think of is that Red Magic’s regular phones are even more heavily specced and heavier, so the 11 Air counts as a thin smartphone by the company’s standards.

Additionally, the Red Magic 11 Air could pack up to 24GB of RAM and will also include a built-in active cooling system to keep thermals under control.
