Meet the Polestar Phone: A clone of Meizu 21 Pro

In the world of phone leaks, it’s crucial to get things right. We recently talked about the Polestar Phone and thought it was a Meizu 20 Infinity in disguise. It looks like GSMChina made a mistake and published an apology blog. The Polestar Phone is actually a Meizu 21 Pro and in this article, we want to clarify some things.

We actually first met the Polestar Phone back in November. At the time Meizu had registered it as the Meizu 21 Pro, but we didn’t know all the technical details yet. The surprise came when we learned about the Polestar Phone just two days before Meizu officially launched the 21 Pro. The model we thought was the Polestar Phone two weeks ago turned out to be the satellite communication version of the Meizu 20 Infinity.

The Polestar Phone has the model number “M481S“. GSMChina has learned that this number is actually associated with the Meizu 21 Pro, not the Meizu 20 Infinity. Thanks to a recent update from the Geely team, we now have a clear knowledge of the correct model relationship. Let’s make things right by understanding the correct model numbers.

In the first report, it was mistakenly said that the model number “M392S” was the Polestar Phone. After digging deeper, we learned that this model number actually belongs to the satellite communication version of the Meizu 20 Infinity, not the Polestar Phone.

Realme 12 Pro Supreme Edition officially listed in China, here’s what it offers

Realme unveiled the Realme 12 Pro and 12 Pro+ smartphones in India at the end of January, and it held a launch event yesterday to announce the two phones for the Chinese market. The official website of the Realme 12 Pro mentions that it comes in two options, such as 8GB+256GB and 12GB+256GB. On the other hand, the Realme 12 Pro+ comes in three variants, such as 8GB+256GB, 12GB+256GB, and 12GB+512GB. Realme China’s online store also mentions a new device the Realme 12 Pro Supreme Edition. Here’s what is known about the device.

Realme 12 Pro Supreme Edition price, release date

Realme 12 Pro Supreme Edition

The Realme 12 Pro Supreme Edition is listed with a price tag of 2,199 Yuan (~$305). It is listed in beige and blue color options. The specifications mentioned on its dedicated page on Realme China’s website state that it packs the same specs as the Realme 12 Pro.

Realme 12 Pro Supreme Edition listing 1
Realme 12 Pro Supreme Edition listing

All variants of the Realme 12 Pro and 12 Pro+ are scheduled to go on sale on March 1 in China, but the 12 Pro Supreme Edition will be available for purchase on March 11. Interestingly, the Realme 12 Pro Supreme Edition, which has a 12GB+512GB configuration, costs 100 Yuan more than the 12GB+512GB edition of the Realme 12 Pro+ 5G. Since the Pro+ is a more powerful phone than the Pro model, it appears that there is something suspicious about the Realme 12 Pro Supreme Edition’s official listing.

There is a possibility that the Realme 12 Pro Supreme Edition listing could be a placeholder, with correct specifications appearing at a later date. It also hints at the possibility that this might be the unannounced Realme 12 Pro Max for the Indian market that briefly appeared on Flipkart in January.

Previous leaks suggest the Realme 12 Pro Max could feature a 6.7-inch 120Hz curved-edge AMOLED display, a 50-megapixel IMX890 main camera alongside a 64M-megapixel OmniVision OV64B periscope sensor, run Android 14 with Realme UI 5, and come in 8GB+256GB and 12GB+256GB options with prices of Rs 33,999 (~$410) and Rs 35,999 (~$435).

Since there is no official announcement regarding the Realme 12 Pro Supreme Edition, it is advisable to wait for further reports to confirm the details of this device.

It appears that both devices will house a sizeable 6,000mAh battery pack that will likely offer fast charging.

Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 Geekbench score and core architecture

Recent leaks have shed light on the Geekbench benchmark information of Realme’s new phone, the RMX3851. The device is expected to utilize the SM8635 processor, with benchmark scores showcasing its prowess. While the single-core score of 1512 and multi-core score of 3799 may not provide definitive insights due to variability, they hint at the device’s high-performance capabilities.

Notably, the processor’s core architecture includes 1 x 3.01GHz Cortex-X4, 4 x 2.61GHz Cortex-A720, and 3 x 1.84GHz Cortex-A520 cores, with the software code-named “pineapple,” aligning it with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. For those unfamiliar, the flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC utilizes the same cores, albeit with a slightly higher frequency. For graphics, this chip comes with the Adreno 735 GPU, which is a slight downgrade from the Adreno 750 of the flagship Snapdragon 8 gen 3. Given the leaks are true, the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 promises robust performance, catering to the demands of modern mobile users.

Last year’s Realme GT Neo 5 debuted with the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 processor, targeting mid-range consumers with a starting price of 2,499 yuan (~$350). Meanwhile, the Realme GT Neo 5 SE, equipped with Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 processors, aimed for a more budget-friendly segment, starting at 1,999 yuan (~$277).

Insights from @Ice Universe hint at Qualcomm’s imminent release of the SM7675 and SM8635 chips, anticipated to hit the market in March. Both chips are expected to be variants of the same architecture, sharing the development code name “Cliffs” within Qualcomm.

At this year’s MWC 2024, Tecno turned heads with the unveiling of its latest product, the Megabook T16 Pro 2024 Ultra. Not just any laptop, this device stands out for being among the first to harness the power of Intel‘s Core Ultra 7 processor, a significant leap in processing technology.

The laptop can handle AI tasks quite efficiently, thanks to Tecno PC Manager

Since its entry into the laptop market in 2022, Tecno has aimed to blend sleek, lightweight designs with uncompromised performance. The Megabook T16 Pro Ultra 2024 is no exception, offering configurations that can go up to 32GB of LPDDR5 memory and a 1TB PCIE4.0 SSD. Whether you’re into gaming, productivity tasks, or content creation—particularly those AI-driven projects—this laptop promises to handle it all with ease.

At its core is the Intel Core Ultra 7 processor, a fresh release from December 2023, paired with an Arc mobile GPU for graphics. Users have the choice between 16GB or 32GB of memory and between 512GB or 1TB of SSD storage, allowing for a tailored computing experience.

Cooling is paramount in such a powerful laptop, and Tecno addresses this with a dual shark thread fan system, ensuring that the laptop stays cool under pressure without compromising on performance. But what really sets the Megabook T16 Pro Ultra 2024 apart is the Tecno PC Manager application. It leverages a special chip within the Intel processor to tackle AI tasks efficiently, boasting the capability to generate high-quality AI images rapidly.

Apple May Bring its 120Hz ProMotion Display to iPhone 17 and 17 Plus, Report States

Another Apple report has surfaced, and this could be great news for those who like to buy the plus and non-pro versions of the company’s iPhones. This time, it’s about leveling the playing field between its high-end and more budget-friendly iPhones. The buzz is all about the iPhone 17 and 17 Plus, set to attract more users with their 120Hz ProMotion displays, a feature previously reserved for the pricier models.

This means Always-on display will be available on these cheaper models

The leap to LTPO OLED panels in the upcoming iPhone 17 series marks a huge shift. These panels are not just about smoother scrolling or more dynamic visuals; they’re a means to achieve Always-on display functionality. This feature, enabled by the panel’s ability to finely adjust the refresh rate down to 1Hz, aims to keep essential information visible without draining the battery.

The transition, however, hinges on a partnership with BOE, a key player in the display manufacturing arena. Despite some hiccups and the rigorous quality benchmarks set by Apple, the collaboration is expected to bear fruit by 2025. BOE’s challenge lies in scaling up production to meet the demands of the iPhone 17 lineup, a task that’s as daunting as it is crucial.

This strategic move by Apple could normalize access to high-end features, making them accessible to a broader audience. Regardless, it’s a clear sign that Apple is trying to attract more buyers. However, will the company raise the prices of their cheaper models when this happens? We have no idea yet. The company is also expected to add a bigger, better selfie camera to the iPhone 17, read more about it here. Only time will tell what Apple has in store for the iPhone 17 lineup.
