Alleged Realme GT Neo’s Geekbench & BIS listings spotted, India launch seemingly teased

Realme announced the Realme GT 5G flagship phone (RMX2022 model number) earlier this month. Before its launch, it was spotted at the Bureau of Indian Standards), which indicated that it may launch soon in India. Today, Realme confirmed that it will be launching the Realme GT Neo on March 31 in China. A new teaser released by Realme CEO Madhav Sheth suggests that the smartphone may soon launch in India. Ahead of the launch, the GT Neo seems to have appeared with RMX3031 model number in the database of Geekbench and Bureau of Indian Standards (via)

Two listings of the Realme RMX3031 have appeared at Geekbench. In the first listing, the handset can be seen with 6 GB of RAM and it is seen with 8 GB of RAM in the second one. The RMX3031 is driven by a Dimensity chipset that has a base frequency of 2.00GHz.

The source code both Geekbench listings revealed that the Dimensity chip can deliver maximum clocking speeds of 3GHz and it has Mali-G77 MC9 graphics. These clues suggest that the smartphone is powered by the Dimensity 1200 chipset. The handset is preloaded with Android 11 OS.

According to reliable tipster Digital Chat Station, the RMX3031 model number belongs to the Realme GT Neo handset. As mentioned above, the is also expected to arrive in India as it has received BIS certification.

Through the above tweet, Realme CEO could be teasing the India launch of the Realme GT Neo. It is advisable to wait for further reports to know whether it will be arriving soon in India.

Yesterday, Samsung launched the Galaxy A52 and the Galaxy A72 mid-range smartphones at the company’s second Unpacked event of 2021. Both of these handsets support 25W fast charging. However, one of them ships with a 15W charger.

The newly unveiled Galaxy A52 is backed by a 4,500mAh battery with support for 25W fast charging. For comparison, last year’s Galaxy A51 has a slightly smaller 4,000mAh battery and it is capped at 15W fast charging.

But unfortunately, just like the older Galaxy A51, the brand-new Galaxy A52 also ships with a popular Samsung 15W Adaptive Fast Charging adapter. Hence, if users want to make use of the phone’s maximum charging potential, they will have to buy the 25W charger separately.

On the other hand, the more expensive Galaxy A72 comes with a 25W charger instead. So buyers of this smartphone no need to worry about investing in a fast charger.

That said, Samsung is at least shipping these handsets with a charger, unlike the company’s flagship Galaxy S21 series.

Anyway, the Galaxy A52 despite featuring non-impressive specs for the price when compared to devices from Chinese OEMs, it does offer other important features. For instance, it is probably the only phone in the segment to come with IP67 certification, three Android updates, and four years of security updates.

Honor V40 Lite Luxury Edition to come with 66W Fast Charging support

Recently, the newly independent smartphone maker Honor officially confirmed that the Honor V40 Lite Luxury Edition will be launched on 23rd March. The company has also started taking reservations for the same.

Ahead of the launch, the company has started revealing some features of the device through teasers. Today, it has been confirmed that the Honor V40 Lite Luxury Edition will come with support for 66W Super Fast Charging technology.

For those who are unaware, the charging parameters of the upcoming smartphone are the same as the Huawei Mate40. Also, in terms of design, the Honor V40 Lite Luxury Edition will be adopting a different design compared to V40.

The smartphone will come with a 6.57-inch Full HD+ display with 2340 x 1080 pixels screen resolution and a single punch-hole cutout for housing the front-facing camera. It offers a 90Hz refresh rate and a 240Hz touch sampling rate with a 10-bit color depth.

In the camera department, the device will come with a 64 MP + 8 MP + 2 MP + 2 MP quad-camera setup and on the front side, there will be a 32 MP snapper for taking selfies and video calling.

A few more Honor smartphones are in the works and are expected to go official soon, which include Honor 40S, Honor 10C, Honor X20, and Honor 40. It remains to be seen which of them makes it to the global markets.

Along with the Honor V40 Lite Luxury Edition launch in China on 23rd March, the company is also gearing up to launch Honor Tablet 7 powered by the MediaTek G80 processor and later this year, the company plans to launch another tablet powered by MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ SoC in June this year.

Earlier this week, iQOO announced the iQOO Neo5 flagship phone in China. Soon after its launch, the company released the first teaser of its upcoming Z-series smartphone, which is speculated to launch as the iQOO Z3. A fresh leak suggests that China may soon receive a 5G-ready iQOO phone with entry-level specs. This may debut in the home market as the iQOO U3x.

A reliable tipster from China claimed that the upcoming entry-level iQOO phone is likely to cost around 1,000 Yuan (~$154). At this price, it is expected to offer users major specs like a 90Hz refresh rate screen, Snapdragon 480 chipset, a 5,000mAh battery, and a 13-megapixel + 2-megapixel dual-camera system. These specifications suggest that it could be a rebadged version o the Vivo Y31s 5G, which launched in January in China.

In December 2020, iQOO announces the iQOO U3 smartphone in the home market. It was a rebranded version of the Vivo Y52s 5G. Hence, it is highly likely that the iQOO U3x could also be a rebranded device. It is unclear whether the iQOO Z3 and the iQOO U3x will go official together by the end of March.

The Vivo Y31s 5G is equipped with a 6.58-inch LCD panel that delivers a Full HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. It is powered by the Snapdragon 480 chipset, 4 GB / 6 GB of LPDDR4x RAM, and 128 GB of UFS 2.1 storage. For security, it has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. It has a selfie camera of 8-megapixel and its rear camera setup has a 13-megapixel main camera and a 2-megapixel depth sensor. It has 18W rapid charging support for its 5,000mAh battery.

Realme recently launched its flagship smartphone Realme GT 5G in China a few weeks ago and now the company is gearing up to launch a new variant of the same. Xu Qi, Vice President of Realme and President of Global Marketing for the company has revealed more details about the upcoming smartphone.

Xu Qi has confirmed that the Realme GT Neo smartphone will be officially launched by the company on 31st March. He also adds that the device will bring a brand new design. Further, it has also been confirmed that the phone will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 chipset.

The poster shared by the company reveals that the upcoming smartphone will come with a rectangular camera module on the back, with the words “DARE TO LEAP” on the shell.

The MediaTek Dimensity 1200 SoC is a 6nm chipset that includes Cortex-A78 prime core working at 3.0GHz, three Cortex-A78 cores clocking at 2.6GHz, and quad Cortex-A55 cores ticking at 2GHz, along with Mali-G77 MC9 graphics.

Recently, a Realme smartphone with model number RMX3116 appeared on TENAA which features a 6.55-inch display. The phone will be powered by dual 2,200mAh batteries and come with support for 65W fast charging. It is also said that the phone will be running the Android 11 operating system out-of-the-box.

For those who are unaware, the Realme GT features a 6.43-inch AMOLED punch-hole display that offers a Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. It is equipped with the Snapdragon 888 chipset, LPPDR5 RAM, UFS 3.1 storage, and a 4,500mAh battery with 65W fast charging support. It has a front camera of 16-megapixel and the rear camera module has a 64-megapixel Sony IMX682 main camera, a 13-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 2-megapixel macro lens.

Xiaomi has launched the MIJIA Smart Steam Oven under crowdfunding on Mi Mall. The product is an affordable one, carrying a retail price of 299 yuan (~$46) but during the crowdfunding, it is on offer for 269 yuan (~$41).

The MIJIA Smart Steam Oven has a volume of 12L with a unique 5mL steam-baking function that can make the food crispy while keeping the inside soft and tender. At the same time, it also has functions such as precise electronic temperature control and can be connected with the MIJIA app.

Despite the portable 12L capacity, the oven has a peak power rating of 1300W. The company claims the rating is more than twice that of a traditional electric oven. Even a 32L electric oven has a power rating of 1600W. Thus, considering the volume per rating, the new MIJIA oven can speed up the baking process as the oven won’t take a long time to heat up.

Xiaomi touts the MIJIA Smart Steam Oven to have as one of its selling points, an intuitive temperature control. The MIJIA Smart Steam Oven is equipped with an NTC electronic temperature probe and an intelligent electronic temperature control system. It also supports 1°C and 1-second precise adjustment.

Further, the oven comes with a specially designed and unique steam tank that can replenish water while heating. This helps to bring back crispiness to old food like a toast and it will taste like freshly baked.

Meizu 18 series to get 2K+120Hz mode via OTA update

Meizu has shown that certain features which some manufacturers may term hardware limitations can be enabled via a software update. For example, last year’s Meizu 17 and Meizu 17 Pro got their refresh rate upgraded from 90Hz to 120Hz via a software update. Now, Meizu is about to pull a similar stunt with the Meizu 18 series.

The Meizu 18 and Meizu 18 Pro both have 2K displays with a 120Hz refresh rate but unfortunately, you can’t set the resolution to the highest (QHD+: 3200 x 1440) and also have the refresh set to 120Hz. That changes with an OTA update that Meizu is working on.

According to Meizu’s head of marketing, Wan Zhiqiang, its engineers have been working overtime on getting the feature available and they have finally cracked it. He even shared screenshots of the display set to maximum resolution and also the refresh rate set to 120Hz to prove that they have got it working. The poster above shows that the feature will be activated for all users via an OTA update which should roll out soon.

The Meizu 18 and Meizu 18 Pro launched early this month. The former has a 6.2-inch S-AMOLED display while the former has a 6.7-inch S-AMOLED display. Both screens have four curves, a 240Hz touch sampling rate, a punch hole for the selfie camera, and are HDR10+ certified.

Inside the two phones is the Snapdragon 888 processor with up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. Apart from screen size, the two phones also differ in the camera department. You get a 32MP front-facing camera on the standard model along with a 64MP+16MP+8MP triple camera on the back while the pro model has a 44MP selfie camera and quad-rear cameras that consist of a 50MP main camera, a 32MP ultrawide angle camera, an 8MP telephoto camera, and a TOF camera.

You get a 4000mAh battery with the smaller model and it supports 36W fast wired charging. The Meizu 18 Pro supports 40W fast wired charging, 40W fast wireless charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging. The two phones run Flyme 9 based on Android 11 out of the box. For now, they are exclusive to China with a starting price of ¥4,399 (~$676).

Apple is collaborating with Boston Children’s Hospital’s Vaccine finder to provide information on the nearest COVID-19 vaccination center across the United States. The information on your nearest vaccination facility is location-based and can be accessed via Apple Maps on various Apple devices.

This new feature is obviously a response to the current scenario of extensive vaccinations against the dreaded COVID-19 across the world. The US has been heavily hit by the pandemic and is gradually making solid progress to stem the tide of new infections by massive vaccination programs in thousands of facilities spread across the length and breadth of the country.

The initial partnership between Apple and VaccineFinder is for about 20,000 vaccination facilities, with their comprehensive location data and several other relevant information provided upon activating the feature in Apple Maps. On the Apple Maps search bar, the search query: COVID-19 vaccines, done in the Find Nearby menu will provide the closest centers where users can easily be vaccinated. The same operation can be achieved when using Apple’s smart assistant Siri.

The VaccineFinder service collects real-time information on the availability of vaccines at a variety of facilities including hospitals, pharmacies, and other centers in the US. In addition, the facilities can directly submit relevant information on various aspects of the pandemic, which will become visible on Apple Maps. At the height of the pandemic last year, Apple began providing information on testing centers for the Covid-19 in a number of countries in Europe and Asia, as well as in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, and the United States.

It is not known what plans are afoot to scale up the VaccineFinder partnership to cover many other countries outside the United States, as this would provide a massive boost in vaccination numbers as most countries continue to grapple with the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic.

Apple has continued to make its contributions in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic on various fronts. It has produced short news podcasts on COVID-19 and this is called Siri Audio Briefs. And recently, a slew of studies conducted using Apple smartwatches showed that these smart wearables could predict the onset of the disease up to 10 days before symptoms are visible.

Leaked Samsung 2021 product mini-roadmap reveals some upcoming products

Tipster Evan Blass has provided some tips on the possible lineup of gadgets slated for release by tech giant Samsung from April to August 2021. This is coming on the heels of the launch today of the much expected Galaxy A-series comprising the Galaxy A32, A52, and A72 together with their 5G versions during Samsung’s Unpacked event.

The leaked timeline rightly shows the Galaxy A- series models would launch on March 17. It also shows that several other Unpacked events have been lined up for the coming months to highlight a variety of products from the company.

The timeline equally suggests that in April 2021, another Unpacked event will signpost the unveiling of a number of computing devices including the Galaxy Chromebook and the Galaxy Book laptop PCs. It is projected that this event will hold specifically on 14 April, although tentatively.

The next event would not come up until June 2021, as attention would shift to Samsung’s Android offerings. A more affordable version of the Galaxy Tab S7 Lite is expected to go official. This is expected to follow the recent trend of Samsung producing a less expensive version of its high-end Android devices so as to still retain a segment of the smartphone market as it relates to Android smartphones. No tentative date was fixed for the June event.

In July, the Galaxy A22 will make its entry into the market, together with its 5G version. The A22 is seen as a successor of the S21 lineup. According to Bass, the Galaxy A82 5G will also be unveiled in July 2021. The Galaxy A82 5G is predicted to come with a dual-use camera module. No date was predicted for the unveiling in July.

Usually for Samsung, August is a very busy month of activities and an Unpacked event for the Galaxy S21 FE is predicted to hold on 19 August. So, as usual, we should be expecting the release of new Galaxy Note devices signposting the August event.

Unfolding events will determine whether the leak is authentic or just mere speculation taken too far. But so far, the Galaxy A32, A52, and A72 are launched as scheduled os, this might just be an authentic leak. We should also add that the tipster has got a high level of credibility.

Last year, OnePlus released the OnePlus Store app for India. The app was another way for users to purchase OnePlus products alongside the official website/online store. Now, folks in Canada and the United States are getting their own version.

Today, OPPO announced the Reno5 and the Reno5F smartphones. Both phones have AMOLED displays, quad-rear cameras, and support 4G LTE.

The Reno5 has a 6.4-inch AMOLED screen with an FHD+ resolution, a 90Hz refresh rate, and a punch hole for the front-facing camera. It comes with a Snapdragon 720G processor and is available in a single configuration – 8GB RAM + 128GB.

In front is a 44MP camera with beauty effects while the quad-rear camera setup includes a 64MP main sensor, an 8MP ultrawide angle camera, a 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP mono camera. The Reno5 ships with ColorOS 11 which has features such as Gamer Mode for uninterrupted and enhanced gaming experience; Flex Drop for resizing apps into floating windows; and hand gesture support that allows you to control your device without touching it. The phone also has an audio jack, an in-display fingerprint scanner, and a MicroSD card slot.

The Reno 5F has a 6.43-inch AMOLED display with an FHD+ resolution, punch hole, and a 60Hz refresh rate. The Helio P95 processor is paired with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage.

Its main rear camera is a 48MP f/1.7 sensor and it comes along with an 8MP ultrawide angle camera, a 2MP macro camera, and a 2MP mono camera. Its front-facing camera is a 32MP sensor. The camera app has an AI Color Portrait Video mode that highlights the color of the subject while turning the background black and white. There is also a monochrome video mode that highlights only one color while turning everything else into monochrome.

The Reno5F has a 4310mAh battery with support for 30W VOOC Flash Charge 4.0. You get a USB-C port, an audio jack, and an in-display fingerprint scanner. It comes with ColorOS 11 based on Android 11 pre-installed.

Logitech G333 is the brand’s first gaming ‘in-ear monitors’ priced at $50

Logitech has been silently building its accessories and devices with greater attention to wireless capability for its products. The premium Logitech Pro X wireless headset which the company released in 2020 has been very successful. However, with the release of its first-ever wired in-ear monitors (IEMs), well suited for gaming applications, the product dubbed Logitech G333 marks a big shift from the trend aid product development in the company.

At a cost of $50, the Logitech G333 wired in-ear monitors have three colour mix variants namely silver/light purple, black/bright blue, purple/yellow. and seeks to attract gaming enthusiasts with a more comfortable gaming experience from a snugly-fit device. The move to wired in-ear devices in favour of the wireless alternative may be seen as counter-productive but it may be a deliberate decision by the company to pinpoint the relevance of wired applications even in the face of a trend of wireless devices over the past years.

The G333 in-ear monitor has as accessories a 3.5mm jack and a USB-C adapter. It is quite easy to connect the device to any gaming platform including PC and mobile games and enjoy gaming content of your choice, whether it is Xbox, PlayStation, or Nintendo.

The G33 has a close resemblance to Logitech’s Oculus 2 headphones from 2020, although a few modifications are apparent, including a powerful microphone, and a layout and general audio quality which the company insists is at par with the predecessors of the G333. It is hoped that this affordable in-ear monitor will provide a superior gaming experience for gamers across all the gaming platforms.

The G33 sells for $50 and is expected to be swarmed by gaming enthusiasts due to its affordability and relative quality. The G333 wired in-ear monitor is now available online through Logitech and a number of retailers.

Strategy Analytics has released a research report which projects how the smartphone market will rebound post-COVID 19. The report shows that the smartphone market will rebound in 2021 with expected shipments of 1.38 billion units, representing +6.5% growth over last year’s shipments.

The growth is expected to be driven mainly by a resurgence in the global economy as the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on the global economy abates. Also, the number of old smartphones in circulation has reason partly due to the penchant of users to hold on to their phones longer than before and the effect of the pandemic on the economy last year. Thirdly, the aggressive push by OEMs to produce 5G phones in segments other than the flagship category. Now, there are 5G mid-range and even affordable models.

Strategy Analytics’ Smartphone Analyst Abhilash Kumar also disclosed that the firm expects Xiaomi to emerge as the third-largest global smartphone vendor, replacing Huawei. This projection is based on the Chinese brand’s positive performance in the Indian and Russian markets. The company has also made an aggressive push in Central & Eastern Europe and Western Europe.

Linda Sui, Senior Director at Strategy Analytics, added that 2021 was going to be the year of Chinese smartphone vendors. He also noted that the trio of Vivo, Xiaomi, and OPPO are expected to become top 3 players “driven by aggressive marketing, expanding channel footprints, and competitive pricing.”

Furthermore, the report stated that Transsion Holdings will emerge as the largest vendor ]in Africa & Middle East, ahead of Samsung. While Samsung will occupy the second spot, Xiaomi will hop into the third spot.

Xiaomi is also expected to cement its hold on the third spot in Western Europe, behind Apple and Samsung.

Samsung has finally launched the Galaxy A52 alongside the Galaxy A72. Unlike the A72, the A52 comes in both 4G and 5G variants. Let’s take a look at the specs and features of the device.

Samsung Galaxy A52 4G and 5G Specifications and Features

The Samsung Galaxy A52 4G and 5G have a plastic back, measure 75.1 x 159.9 x 8.4mm and weigh 189 grams. The devices feature a 6.5-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED
Infinity-O Display. This display has a resolution of 2400×1080 pixels, 407 PPI, and brightness up to 800 nits.

Here, the 4G version has a 90Hz refresh rate whereas the 5G version comes with a 120Hz panel. Both the displays are also SGS certified and are Eye Care Display low blue light certification.

Under the hood, the Galaxy A52 4G is powered by Snapdragon 720G chipset while the 5G variant has an Octa-core chipset with 2x cores at 2.2GHz + and 6x cores clocked at 1.8GHz. This is probably the Snapdragon 750G chipset. Apart from internal storage, the devices also come with a MicroSD for storage expansion up to 1 TB.

For cameras, we have a Quad-camera setup with a 64MP f/1.8 lens with OIS, 12MP f/2.2 ultrawide, 5MP f/2.4 macro, and a 5MP f/2.4 depth sensor. Upfront, there is a 32MP f/2.2 front camera.

Samsung has included camera features like 4K Video Snap, Scene Optimizer, Night mode, AR emoji and My Filters, and a Fun mode(Snapchat partnership) where you can apply AR Lenses from Snapchat while using the native camera.

Other features include a 4,500mAh battery with 25W charging, MicroSD slot(up to 1TB), 4G LTE, 5G Sub6 FDD, 5G Sub6 TDD(on Galaxy A52 5G), Wi-Fi 5GHz, Bluetooth 5.0, and GPS, Glonass, BeiDou, Galileo, NFC, and MST(differs by regions).

The devies also sport a Type-C port, 3.5mm audio jack, stereo speakers tuned by AKG, surround sound with Dolby Atmos, display fingerprint scanner, face unlock, Samsung Knox security, SmartThings find, IP67 water & dust resistance, Android 11 with One UI 3.1 on top.

As always, Samsung promises three generations of Android upgrades and up to four years of security updates on the Galaxy A52 devices.

Samsung Galaxy A72 4G packs a high refresh rate, IP67 rating, telephoto camera, and more

Samsung has announced the Galaxy A72 4G smartphone today, unfortunately, the 5G version is missing in action. The new phone comes with upgrades such as a high refresh rate, upgrades cameras, an IP-rating, and a bigger battery capacity.

Galaxy A72 Design

Just as we have seen with a lot of Samsung phones released this year, the Galaxy A72 4G also comes with a display with a centered punch hole. On the back is a camera housing with four sensors and an LED flash. The back of the phone is covered in polycarbonate and one commendable addition is that the Galaxy A72 4G has an IP67 rating making it water (up to 1m for up to 30 minutes) and dust resistant.

Samsung has shown time and time again that it is not afraid of playing with colors and it does that again with the new Galaxy A72. The phone is available in Awesome Black, Awesome Blue, Awesome Violet, and Awesome White.

Galaxy A72 4G specifications

The Galaxy A72 4G has a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display with a brightness of up to 800 nits, SGS Eye Comfort Shield, and a 90Hz refresh rate. Samsung doesn’t say if the device has HDR10, so we will assume it doesn’t just like its predecessor.

The phone swaps the Snapdragon 730 processor of the Galaxy A71 for the Snapdragon 720G and it comes with 6GB/8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of storage. A MicroSD card slot will allow you to add up to an extra 1TB of storage.

You get four rear cameras on the Galaxy A72 4G – a 64MP f/1.8 camera with optical image stabilization, a 12MP f/2.2 ultrawide angle camera with a 123° field of view, an 8MP f/2.4 telephoto camera with OIS and 3x optical zoom, and a 5MP f/2.4 macro camera. Samsung says the phone also has 30x Space Zoom. The front-facing camera is a 32MP sensor.

The Galaxy A72 4G has Dolby Atmos stereo speakers, an audio jack, a USB-C, and an in-display fingerprint scanner. Samsung has bumped the battery capacity to 5000mAh and it supports 25W fast charging like its predecessor. It also comes with a 25W fast charger.

As expected, you get Android 11 pre-installed with Samsung’s One UI 3.0 interface on top.

Galaxy A72 Price and Availability

The phone will be sold for €450/£420 for the base model with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. There is no price yet for the 8GB RAM + 256GB version.

Future OnePlus phones may run OPPO ColorOS in China

OnePlus devices in China run a Chinese version of the OxygenOS and it is called the HydrogenOS. Looks like it won’t be the case in the future as an XDA report says the company might switch over to OPPO’s ColorOS in the future.

According to the report, an XDA Senior Member hikari_calyx has found an announcement on the OnePlus QQ Official group. A screenshot says that the official website of the HydrogenOS will shut down on March 24 which is the launch date for the OnePlus 9 series in China.

Anyway, the announcement also says that the OTA servers of the HydrogenOS will subsequently be shut on April 1. If this is true, the company would be withdrawing the developments on HydrogenOS after so many years. Besides, OPPO and OnePlus aren’t that apart to begin with.

The majority of OnePlus and OPPO shares are owned by Oujia Holdings Ltd.(OPlus) and Pete Lau is the Senior Vice President at OPlus since August 2020. Back then, OnePlus had confirmed that he will also serve as the CEO of the company.

Additionally, the company merged its R&D department with OPPO back in January 2021 but said that software features will be unique. Cut back to present times, the alleged announcement says that OnePlus devices will switch to OPPO’s ColorOS and be sold via the OPPO store in China.

Before OnePlus could confirm this news as true/false, forums in China have spread this info and the reactions are mixed. While this is happening, an OnePlus spokesperson has confirmed to XDA that OnePlus devices will continue to run OxygenOS globally.

Few users also say that OnePlus might unveil this news at the OnePlus 9 series and the device may run the OS out of the box. However, these are early guesses, and let’s wait for the official info in the coming days.
