Early rumors had suggested that the company could be working on Meizu MX7 to replace the older MX6 phone. The Chinese manufacturer has now removed the listing of Meizu MX6 from the official website as well as its official store. Since the Chinese firm is working on the Meizu 15 Plus as the 15th anniversary phone, it is speculated that the next major phone from the company will not be a Meizu’s MX series phone.

Currently, the Meizu MX6 is only available for purchase on Jingdong. The retailer is selling the Champagne Gold version of the phone with a price tag of 1,299 Yuan. It has been over a year since the launch of the MX6 and there is no trace of an upcoming Meizu MX series phone. Hence, the rumor mill is speculating that the company may have axed the MX lineup completely. We advise our readers to take this report with a grain of salt as the company is yet to official announce the axing of the MX series.

The Meizu 15 Plus is speculated to come with a full screen design. It is also rumored to retain the mBack button. Its rear panel is expected to feature dual camera setup that is coupled with a ring flash. The handset is expected to arrive in two models. The Snapdragon 660 chipset may power the Meizu 15 whereas the Meizu 15 Plus may feature Snapdragon 835 chipset. These phones are speculated to debut in March 2018.

The first half of 2017 saw quite a few models released by the tech giant but now, soon after the launch of the Pro 7 and Pro 7 Plus as well as the Meizu Flow headset, the company has sent out press invites for the launch of the M6 Note. There are more to come including a Snapdragon-powered model perhaps, but one phone that may likely not be launched this year is the Meizu MX7. There is a rumour out of China that Meizu will not be launching the flagship MX7 this year.

The Meizu MX7 is supposed to be the successor to the MX6 which was launched around July last year packing an Helio X20 chip and a powerful 12MP Sony IMX386 rear camera sensor. The MX7 was expected to launch in September this year packing an Helio P30 chip, according to the leaked Meizu product schedule for this year that has so far been fairly accurate. The MX series was hitherto Meizu’s flagship series before the birth of the Pro series but the company has continued to released MX models which usually come with a pocket-friendly price tag. The MX6 sells for around $276 presently which is fairly decent. But we may have to make do with the M6 Note this year as Meizu is rumoured as planning to use the M series, U series or the X series to fill the void the lack of a decent MX model would create.

Read More: Meizu MX6 12MP Sony IMX386 Official Camera Samples Released

The reason for the shift of the MX7 from this year’s itinerary wasn’t disclosed by the tipster who has a fair credibility rating from his antecedence. The shift could be as a result of the need to provide enough space for the Pro 7 and the mid-range offerings the company has got lined up for this year to sell well instead of its products competing with each other. The Meizu MX7 is expected with a premium, near bezel-less edge design and would feature a 21MP rear camera and a 5MP sensor up front. The device is also expected to sport a large 5.7-inch display with a 2K resolution and it will have a USB Type-C port and 3.5mm audio jack.We can’t be so sure about this, though, so take it with a pinch of salt.

From the announcement, Meizu smartphones which fall among the price reduction include; the Meizu MX6 which got a 200 yuan slash in its price, coming down to 1599 Yuan. The Meizu U10 also got 200 yuan off its price and is now available for just 799 yuan. The Meizu U20 wasn’t left out as it too got 200 yuan off its official price tag and is now up for grab for 899 yuan. The Meizu Metal which was released in 2015 also got a 300-yuan slash in its price, bringing down the price to 699 yuan.

Related: Get the Meizu MX6 for just $275.99 from Lightinthebox!

In addition, the highest reduction in price was slammed on the Meizu Metal Gift Box version which had a 400 yuan reduction in its price. The device is also available now for 699 yuan. Considering the designs and initial rice tag of these smartphones, we’d say it is a fair and attractive reduction which should get many buyers interested.

Sales are currently on going and already some color variants of the Meizu smartphones on offer are out of stock.

The phone was released back in July and the prices have dropped quite significantly to less than $300. Now you can grab it for just $275.99 from lightinthebox.com and we believe it is a pretty good deal.

When it comes to hardware, the Meizu MX6 comes with the Mediatek Helio x20 chip, 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage, which is, however, not expandable. Even though the Helio X20 chip is not the most powerful out there, it can still handle a lot of stuff without any issues.

I’m not going to talk about the similarities with the iPhone 7 and I’ll just say that the phone sports excellent build quality. The Mx6 is made entirely of metal, even the top and bottom parts. In addition, there are nicely-designed antenna inlays.

Finally, the phone has a 12MP Sony camera with f/2.0 aperture and a dual tone dual-led flash.

You can now grab the phone for just $275.99 from Lightinthebox, which sounds like a pretty good deal knowing the overall package you get and the quality of Meizu smartphones.

Buy Meizu MX6

The new MX6 retains the other specifications as the 4GB RAM version. There’s still a 5.5” full HD display supplied by Sharp, a Helio X20 processor under the hood, 32GB of storage space, Sony’s 12MP IMX386 CMOS sensor at the back and a 5MP camera in front for selfies.

Battery is also the same at 3060mAh with support for 12V 2A fast charging. You also get VoLTE, 4G+, Cat. 6 LTE, and Android 6.0 with Meizu’s Flyme UI overlay.

The new 3GB MX6 has a selling price of 1799 Yuan ($270) which if you ask me is still pretty expensive as there are a bunch of Snapdragon 820 phones selling for less the price and some new Snapdragon 821 phones priced at that same point.

The leaked pictures shows a phone that closely resembles the Meizu Pro 6 and MX6 (more like the latter IMO). The only visible difference is the antenna line at the bottom which doesn’t curve upwards on this new phone. The camera and the LED flash are both positioned in the same spots and it also features a physical home button/fingerprint scanner.

The E Means Exynos

So what does this imply? We have translated this to mean that the E on the invite doesn’t stand for a new E-series but for Exynos and in this case the Samsung Exynos 8890.

Rumor also has it that the new device will have 4GB of RAM like the MX6, 64GB of ROM, and support fast charging. The picture already shows a USB Type-C port positioned in between the speaker grille and 3.5mm audio jack.

RELATED: Meizu Pro 6 With Exynos 8890 Spotted

No Curved Display Yet

Meizu’s CEO, Bai Yongxiang mentioned after the launch of the MX6 that the company might release a curved screen phone in future. We can already see that it won’t be showing up on this device. But there are still 4 months before the end of the year, so that curved display might still be released.

Today, a Weibo account @mz posted images of a Meizu invite for an August 10 event.

The envelope which has an E printed on the front has people guessing what Meizu plans to launch. One group says it is probably for Meizu’s smartwatch whose box was posted on Weibo by a photographer recently. Another group says it is probably a new phone. But there is an agreement that the E signifies a new product launch.

RELATED: Meizu Teases New Smartwatch

Meizu seems to have released new versions for all their smartphone series already. There’s the new M3 series, the Pro 6 and the recently launched MX6, so a new phone series is a surprise to us.

If it is indeed a Meizu watch, we guess that means they are trying to beat Xiaomi into releasing a watch first. August 10 is still over a week away, we should get more details before then.

The Chinese company officially announced this record number today revealing the popularity of the MX6 which packs a very powerful rear camera.

Meizu MX6

These figures don’t mean Meizu has sold over 3.2 million units of the MX6 in 24 hours but only represent the number of persons who have expressed interest in owning the flagship device which will be made available by flash sale on July 30.

Apart from that, the Chinese company also revealed key figures of the conference yesterday. It said that over 400 media websites reported about the phone’s launch. Full figures are revealed in the image at the end.

As a reminder, the Meizu MX6 brings with it a 5.5-inch 1080 display, powered by a deca-core Helio X20 chipset with Mali-T880 GPU, 4GB of RAM, 32GB of internal memory, 3060mAh battery with fast charging support, a 12MP rear-facing camera, and a 5MP shooter at the front.

The Meizu MX6, which is reportedly the world’s first smartphone to use the custom Sony IMX386 CMOS sensor with 12MP resolution, carries a very affordable price tag of 1999 yuan ($300).

Meizu MX6 was officially announced a couple of hours back and it comes with a powerful camera on board. The phone is using the Sony IMX386 custom CMOS sensor along with a new algorithm that ensures that the white balance and noise are optimized for beautiful photos. With PDAF, f/2.0 aperture, and 6P lens, the overall camera setup seems to be quite powerful.

However, we have often seen that the specs on paper don’t matter much. In fact, the only thing that matters is the resulting images taken from the device. So, for now, let’s take a look at the three camera samples (yes we could find only three right now) of the Meizu Mx6 that have been officially released by the company. These official images look amazing, but that isn’t surprising given that they come directly from Meizu. The color reproduction seems to be great and the images turned out to be clear and well focused.

RELATED: Meizu’s New Bluetooth Speaker Has a Build Quality Way Higher Than Its Price

You can check out the samples from below. Like always, we would advise you to wait for some real samples from MX6’s camera until we can make our final judgment. Also, you will most likely find a review of the device from Gizmochina in the coming days, wherein you can check out the real samples from the device.

After so many rumors and leaks, Meizu has finally unveiled the Meizu MX6 flagship in Beijing, China. Like expected, the phone is going to continue the design used on the Meizu Pro 6 flagship, that includes unique antenna lines placement, on the top and the bottom of the rear panel and all metal body. The company has made sure that the phone is super thin as well, measuring just 7.25mm in thickness!

As for the specs, the Meizu MX6 is quite a powerful handset, worthy of being called as a flagship machine. It comes with a 5.5-inch 1080p incell LCD panel from Sharp with TDDI technology that improves touch sensitivity. Under the hood, the phone features the Helio X20 deca-core processor with 4GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. Plus, there’s a decent battery on board as well, measuring 3060mAh in capacity. The phone supports fast charging as well at 12V 2A (24W) which ensures that a 10-minute charge provides half a day’s additional usage.

Like we have been seeing in the teasers, the Meizu MX6 does have a great camera. In fact, it is reportedly the world’s first smartphone to use the custom Sony IMX386 CMOS sensor with 12MP resolution. With PDAF, large 1.25um pixels and f/2.0 aperture, the phone will make sure that the pictures have enough light and clarity. Further, the phone features a new algorithm that improves the color balance and reduces noise resulting into better pictures. Meizu seems to be saying that the phone’s camera is comparable to the Galaxy S7 Edge, with faster imaging speed.

Other features of the Meizu MX6 include a fingerprint sensor embedded into its mTouch button, full network support in China, VoLTE, 4G+, dual SIM dual standby, Cat. 6 LTE and Android 6.0 based Flyme UI.

Finally, for the price, the MX6 flagship is cheaper than expected as it starts at just 1999 Yuan ($300). Given that earlier rumors had said that the price could be as high as 2299 Yuan, this is actually a great price for the specs it comes with.

Registrations for the phone start at 4PM today in China and it goes on sale on July 30.

So, what do you think about the new Meizu MX6? Can it take on other Snapdragon 820 models like ZUK Z2 that retail around the same price?

The company has been teasing the upcoming handset, but we have got to know much more about the phone via recent leaks. Now, the latest information leaked online reveals the pricing of the Meizu MX6 and it’s much higher than its predecessor, the MX5.

The leaked document reveals that the Meizu MX6 will be priced at 2299 Yuan ($344) with a Smart Cover. It looks like the company is planning to sell this cover alongside the phone during launch. As for this pricing, it much higher than its predecessor, which retails for 1799 Yuan ($270). But this news is not a surprise considering, Meizu’s co-founder had already said that due to similar processes used in the MX6 as the Pro 6, the pricing was going to touch the 2000 Yuan mark this year.

The smart cover will be something interesting as it reportedly comes with different colored LED lights to inform you of the notifications. We also have seen a couple of renders of this smart cover, and you can read all about it from here.

An increase in price may not be good news for Meizu fans, but the co-founder had previously revealed that the Mx6 flagship is the best MX device till date. So, we can expect pretty top-notch specs and a solid design on the upcoming handset. From the information leaked earlier, we know that the phone should come with the Helio X20, 4GB RAM, 12MP rear camera, 5MP front shooter and 3000mAh+ battery.

The smart case is said to be made of leather and will support sleep/wake function. There is no info about how the smart case will be powered as the MX6 doesn’t have a smart connector like the iPhone 7 Plus which can supply power to accessories. Our guess is that, it will have a built-in battery that can be easily replaced.

We love this new reinvention of the case. The last time we saw something this cool was with HTC’s Dot View Case which has been replaced with the Ice Case for the HTC 10.

Meizu also teased what appears to be a music case for the MX6. This case has a transparent window which shows a miniature version of the music player. It also features a vertical bar housing a button styled like Meizu’s “M” logo and a play/pause button. Just below the horizontal bar is a circular button as well for previous/next. We presume the ”M” button is to open the music app without unlocking the phone.

To end this, Meizu says it will allow other companies copy its home button but not the way it operates. Last year Meizu was sued by ZTE for copying their halo home button design.

The 5.5-inch device is said to pack a 12MP main camera unit at its back with a powerful Sony IMX286 sensor as revealed by AnTuTu listing.

Meizu’s VP Sales and Marketing, Li Nan took to Chinese social media site Weibo to share a picture that was allegedly shot using the MX6’s rear camera. The picture is a clear, crisp closeup shot of the beautiful feather of a peacock and the output is beyond outstanding. The quality of the image, apparently coming from the shutter of a 12MP camera gives cause for doubt.

More so, Meizu’s earlier devices like the MX4 and MX5 had always spotted a 20.7 MP rear camera unit which could be rated as just OK, and nothing spectacular. So it beats our imagination that MX6’s 12MP camera can deliver such a stunning shot.

Li Nan’s Weibo post

But then, it’s not an impossible accomplishment, after all some manufacturers like Elephone have ditched ramping up the pixels on their cameras instead gone for the option of providing a more powerful sensor for the camera and the results have been top notch.

The Meizu MX6’s Sony IMX286 sensor is the same with that on the Huawei P9 which has a 12MP rear camera setup, and whose dual camera has been its strongest selling point. Huawei has centered the device’s marketing around the camera quality. The Elephone P9000’s camera with a resolution of 13MP also sports this same Sony IMX286 sensor.

So it’s possible that the MX6’s sensor had done the magic and had given the device a wonderful camera. If that be the case, then we might just be looking at a device in a class of its own.

But then, the photo is coming from the hands of the VP, Sales and Marketing. What won’t marketers do to sell their gadgets? The Huawei P9 / Canon DLSR photo debacle is still very fresh in our mind.

While the phone has been in the news for a number of reasons previously, we now know the specs of the device thanks to its AnTuTu listing. The benchmarking app reveals most of the features of the device, so we know what to expect when we meet the handset after a few days.

Like expected, the Meizu MX6 will come with the Helio X20 deca-core chipset and Mali-T880 under the hood with 4GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage. While the display size is unknown (should be 5.5-inches), it will feature FHD 1080p resolution. At the back, the phone will come with a 12MP camera sensor while up front, you get a 5MP shooter. As for software, the Meizu MX6 will come with Flyme 5.2.2 with Android 6.0 Marshmallow on top.

Usually, AnTuTu also reveals the score of the handset that hits the app, but this time, we don’t have that information. However, considering Helio X20 is powering the device, the AnTuTu score of the MX6 should easily be above 90k points.

But even before the launch of the product, this upcoming phone has been getting some good coverage from the media. This was mainly because of the company CEO’s dissatisfaction of the design on the MX6, as revealed by a few leaked images showing the company’s internal emails exchanged. Well, in his defense, the CEO did say that if not for the design, the MX6 is the best MX series phone yet, just a few hours after these emails were leaked. But if the MX6 is going to be the best smartphone in its lineup, what price can we expect to pay for the device?

Meizu’s co-founder Bai Yongxiang just gave us some information regarding the MX6 via a new Weibo post a couple of hours ago. He said that Meizu MX6 will be using a lot of technology from the Pro 6 flagship. And as the cost increase, the price will increase as well. But he adds that the upcoming Meizu device will be one of the best designed phones in the 2000 Yuan ($300) market. Further, he says that the supply chain is making sure that there are enough MX6 units in stock.

RELATED: Meizu MX6 Back Cover Leaked, Reveals a similar design as the Pro 6

So, what can we take from this? Meizu MX6 will most likely cost around 2000 Yuan ($300) making it costlier than the previous generation MX5 model which started at 1799 Yuan ($268). Plus, there should be enough stock of the flagship at launch.

We are still not sure about the specs of the upcoming phone, but rumors state that the phone should feature Helio X20 deca-core chip inside with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage. The release is rumored to be on July 19, but we still haven’t heard of any launch event scheduled by the company.

This already is a very powerful device, however, rumors are abuzz for the much hyped “Pro” device from Meizu.

Recently, a device image surfaced on social media claiming to be the Pro 7. The leaked images only showed the back of the mobile, which bears a totally different design language than its predecessors. Until now Meizu devices have been heavily inspired by Apple , however, it seems, now they’ve shifted their inspiration source to Samsung.

This leaked image shows that Meizu Pro 7 features Samsung S 7 like rounded corners and glass body. This 3D technology has been successfully tested on S7 and it makes the device very comfortable to hold.

The back of Meizu Pro 7 is minimalist in design and just has a camera, flash, and Meizu branding. We haven’t got any official confirmation from any Meizu officials yet regarding the authenticity of this leak. In case this stands out to be true, then we are looking at an extremely premium looking flagship device.

After a few months of silence, Meizu’s CEO Huang Zhang made a microblogging post on Weibo today “If not for using Pro 6’s appearance, I think MX6 would be the best MX series smartphone” (translated).

So looks like the leaked internal mail was true! The CEO doesn’t seem to be happy that MX6 is using a similar design as the Pro 6. However, specs wise, the phone should have capable hardware inside to take on other mid-range flagships.

Meizu’s smartphone business is bigger than ever before. Thanks to the healthy competition between Meizu and Xiaomi, the former smartphone company has managed to post very impressive growth in the past few quarters. The company has even introduced new smartphone lineup aimed at the young generation in the past couple of years, such as the Blue Charm M series. But it looks like, the company’s popular flagship MX series could be in trouble this year.

In an alleged leak of Meizu’s internal emails, Meizu’s CEO Huang Zhang seems to be unhappy with the design of the upcoming Meizu Pro 6 smartphone. He said that if the next generation version of the Meizu MX6 and Pro 6 are going to be this similar, then he may consider scrapping the lineup!

Well, this sounds like an exaggerated statement, but to his credit, Meizu has killed off a few smartphones in the past. For example, remember the Pro 5 Mini phone which was supposed to meet us sometime in the first half of 2016? Well, due to some supply problems faced by the company, Meizu scrapped the device. And then there’s the MX Pro lineup which the company killed last year, favoring the new Meizu Pro series.

Given that Meizu’s MX series is hardly in the limelight due to the numerous other powerful mid-rangers in the market, could the company consider killing the MX series for a new mid-range lineup? Well, we can’t be sure, because the leaked image of the internal mail cannot be verified at the moment.

RELATED: Meizu MX6 Ubuntu Edition Pictures Gives Us a Good Look At The Handset Before Launch

But what we do know is that the upcoming Meizu MX6 looks a lot like the Pro 6! We have seen a couple of leaks of this upcoming device in the past week, which reminded us of the Pro 6. The MX6 is expected to be released on July 19, so let’s wait for more details.

While we are waiting for a confirmation from the company, a new leaked image reveals the back cover of the MX6. While the image claims to be of the upcoming Meizu smartphone, the design looks very much like the Pro 6 flagship that was announced back in April 2016. However, the major difference in the body should be the size of the screen on board, with the MX6 expected to come with a 5.5-inch 1080p display. Also, it is said that the treatment process of the body of the MX6 should be a bit lower than that of the Pro 6.

Along with this image, the retail box of the phone was also leaked. It comes in all white with the Meizu logo right on top and the model name, MX6 on the side. Unfortunately, we didn’t find any specs listed on the box. But previous rumors have given us a good idea as to what to expect from the new flagship.

The Meizu MX6 was previously rumored to feature pressure sensitive display, however, new information states that the phone might not have this feature. As for the other specs, the phone is said to come with the Helio X20 deca-core chip with 3GB RAM and 32GB of storage. There should be a 3050mAh+ battery inside a 7.55mm thin body. Pricing is rumored to be around 1799 Yuan ($271).

This is all information we have of the Meizu MX6 flagship today. But hopefully, we can get some more details and pictures of the device before launch.

But as we can see, that didn’t happen for reasons best known to Meizu. But here at Gizmochina, we want to believe someone at Meizu read our article and decided that it wasn’t wise to release 3 phones in one month.

So there’s a new rumor in town with respect to the launch date of the MX6. The new rumor says the launch has been moved forward by a month to the 19th of July. The leak didn’t give any more details and since there’s no way to confirm the veracity of the info, we just have to be patient and sit this one out until Meizu releases an official statement.

The Meizu MX6 is expected to have two variants, viz.: a 3GB RAM model which should have 32GB of built-in storage, and a 4GB RAM version which should ship with 64GB of ROM. The phone is expected to be clad in all-metal, sport a 5.5” pressure-sensitive FHD screen, have a 20.7MP rear camera, run Android 6.0 Marshmallow, and be priced at 1799 Yuan ($273).

We do hope Meizu will confirm some of these specs before the launch date.

This new device is said to be the Meizu MX6.

The info coming from a China-based tipster who goes by the name @KJuma states that the launch of the Meizu MX6 will be on the 20th of June, which is exactly a week from today.

The MX6 is expected to have a pressure sensitive FHD display (no size yet), although there’s no mention if it’ll be AMOLED like last year’s MX5 and will sport Mediatek’s Helio X20 or X25 processor.

The MX6 will purportedly have two RAM/ROM variants, viz.: 3GB RAM/32GB ROM and 4GB RAM/64GB ROM with pricing starting at 1799 Yuan ($273). There’s going to be a 20.7MP camera on the rear and an 8MP up front. Battery size is unknown but we should expect it to feature Meizu’s fast charge branded as mCharge present on its predecessor.
In addition to this leak, we also learnt that Meizu might still have one more launch scheduled for June 30, and the device is said to be the Meizu Pro 6 Plus. Let’s wait and watch if there are two more launches from the company this month.
Shouldn’t Meizu have just picked one launch date for all their devices coming out this month?

Meizu seems to be on a roll the past few months. The company unveiled three new smartphones in three different lineups in April. While you may have thought that the company was going to be silent for the next few months, according to recent reports, that’s probably not going to be the case. Meizu is said to be preparing for the launch of another important flagship next month, and that is going to be none other than the rumored Meizu MX6 flagship.

Usually, MX series smartphones are released around June-July period. It looks like the company is going to continue the tradition this year as well, as the release is expected to be on June 20. If true, this would make nearly four smartphone launches, all in different lineups in a matter of 3 months. That’s pretty aggressive even for a Chinese smartphone maker.

As for the specs, earlier leaks have said that the phone will feature 3GB RAM and 4GB RAM variants. The former could start at $275 and the latter at around $305, which would put it in competition with the Xiaomi Mi 5. But inside, this device is said to feature Mediatek’s Helio X20 instead of X25 chip that powers the Pro 6 flagship.

RELATED: Meizu’s Curved Screen Smartphone Leaked In Pictures

Considering the rumored specs and pricing, the Meizu MX6 should comfortably sit between the top-end Pro 6 and the mid-range Meizu M3 Note. Further, it is said that apart from the MX6, there is at least one more device from Meizu in the works — a dual curved edged smartphone with Exynos 8890. That is sure one flagship that we would want to see, but expect a launch only by the end of the year.

What are your thoughts?

Now three new smartphones from Meizu have just been spotted on the TENAA certification website. They haven’t been fully listed yet, so we have very limited information about their specs at the moment. However, since they have been listed, we can expect a lot more information soon. The first two models were also listed on the 3C certification website recently, you can read about that from here.

So, there are L681M, L681Q and Y685M models. The first two naturally are of the same phone but different variants. Our guess would be Meizu Metal 2. The Y685M should be the Meizu MX6 flagship.

As per earlier rumors about the MX6 flagship, it is said that the phone will come with Helio X20 chip inside with 3GB / 4GB RAM options and a 5.5-inch 1080p display on board. Other possible specs include a 3000mAh battery and 21MP rear camera. Along with the specs, we also have the rumored pricing of the handset. The MX6 16GB edition will reportedly start at 1499 Yuan ($230), 32GB at 1799 Yuan ($276) and 64GB at 1999 Yuan ($308).

Yesterday, we also saw a leaked image claimed to be of the MX6 flagship. It’s a plain looking design in metal and seems like an early prototype. You can see the picture from above.

Unfortunately, we don’t have much information about the Meizu Metal 2 handset right now.

Further, the potential release of the Pro 5 Mini was spoilt due to the earthquake in Taiwan which caused damages to one of the company’s suppliers. Later, reports about the Meizu MX6 surfaced which said that the phone will launch sometime around April-May.

Now, one of the industry insiders says that Meizu will release a new smartphone in a brand new lineup. So, this won’t be a part of the company’s existing series like the Pro, Blue Charm or even the MX lineup. However, he didn’t reveal the name of the new series. But what he did say was that the new phone will feature an enhanced version of Helio X20 chipset, most likely called as the Helio X25. This MT6797T chip will be clocked at a higher frequency and will be much more powerful than the existing X20 chip.

Since there are two lineups, namely the MX series and the Pro series from Meizu, which feature powerful smartphones, this new lineup could be placed in between the low-end Blue Charm series and the MX series.

Another interesting information revealed by the insider was that Meizu as well as LeEco are set to release smartphones based on the new Helio X25 chipset. We have heard rumors about the Le 2 featuring powerful specs at an affordable price tag and it could be this model that the insider is hinting about. However, since we still haven’t seen many phones with X20 on board, it could be a little early to expect phones with the new chip to debut in the market.

What do you think? How good will this enhanced Helio X20 chipset be?

Although Meizu constantly tries to compete with Xiaomi in terms of smartphone models, the company’s phone lineup is quite limited as compared to the latter. Last year, we saw a few handsets from the company like the Meizu M2 Note, Pro 5 and the MX5 but as compared to other top Chinese companies, it was far less. This year too, we haven’t seen a new launch from this Chinese phone maker, with the only announcement at MWC being the Pro 5 Ubuntu Edition in partnership with Canonical.

But there was a good reason for the company to not launch anything this early in the year. According to various leaks and information, Meizu was supposed to release its Helio X20 powered Pro 5 Mini handset sometime in the March – April period. However, due to the Taiwan earthquake that happened in early February and the supply chain loss incurred (particularly by the phone’s display manufacturer), Meizu officially announced that it had to drop plans for the release of the Pro 5 Mini. This meant that the next powerful smartphone from the company was going to be none other than the rumored Meizu MX6.

Now, industry insider, Mocha RQ (translated) has revealed new information about the Meizu MX6. He says that the MX6 flagship should be launched earlier than usual this year, sometime around May. Further, he adds that the phone will most likely come with a pressure sensitive display. The company is reportedly taking some time for the phone’s development because it decided to use a pressure sensitive display inside the new device.

Launching the phone a couple of months early (traditional launch period should be June-July) period actually makes sense now that the Pro 5 Mini is out of the picture. As for the pressure sensitive display, it’s not a new feature and many Chinese manufacturers like ZTE, Huawei and Gionee have phones with this technology. However, we are yet to utilize the full potential of 3D touch as apps and features have to be developed more based on this tech.

As for the specs, the Meizu MX6 is expected to come with Helio X20, 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage and a 1080p display. Like the MX5, expect the MX6 to be a low cost, affordable flagship.

It’s a relatively quiet day for news related to Chinese smartphones, thanks to the New Year Celebrations in the country. However, recently, a new Meizu device was spotted in a certification listing. The model number Meizu M681Q is an unknown smartphone from the company, which means this could be an upcoming device. From the naming scheme, the M681Q could be the rumored Meizu MX6 flagship that will succeed the existing MX5 smartphone.

Unfortunately, the radio certification doesn’t reveal much about the device. But it does show that the model will support GSM / TD-SCDMA / WCDMA / CDMA2000 / TD-LTE / FDD-LTE networks, which means full network support in China. Also, this certificate proves that the phone exists and could be in the final stages. Of course, unless the Meizu MX6 receives important certifications like TENAA or 3C, we can’t be sure that the device will launch soon. So, the launch may still be a few months away. In case you remember, earlier leaks had said that the phone could release sometime in April, which is still a couple of months away.

As for the specs, the Meizu MX6 was spotted on AnTuTu last month. The benchmark app revealed that the phone could come with Mediatek’s latest Helio X20 10-core chipset along with Mali-T880 MP4 GPU and 3GB of RAM. While the screen size was not revealed by AnTuTu, the resolution was said to be 1920 x 1080 pixels. Also, the phone was running on the new Android 6.0 Marshmallow platform.

We even saw alleged press invites for the launch of the MX6 a few weeks back, but as of now, we have no official details from the company about its release. Hopefully, things will get clearer in the coming days, so stay tuned.

While many predict the new launch could be from the budget Blue Charm range, some rumors claim that the upcoming phone is possibly the Meizu MX6 flagship.

According to the latest rumors, Meizu will release the MX6 flagship earlier than tradition this year. The company will reportedly launch the device sometime around March, which is just a few weeks away. Considering this launch period, it’s possible that today’s leaked invites are for the flagship launch event.

It is said that the Meizu MX6 flagship will be designed on the same lines as last year’s MX5. However, the bezels will be ultra-thin and the phone will feature a metal frame + glass design. As for the specs, AnTuTu had recently given out some details about the phone’s hardware.

The Meizu MX6 is said to come with Mediatek’s powerful deca-core Helio X20 processor. The phone revealed by the benchmarking app featured 3GB RAM, Mali-T880 MP4 GPU and Android 6.0. While the display size was not leaked, the resolution is said to be FHD i.e. 1920 x 1080 pixels.

However, some rumors give out an even powerful hardware for the MX6. The device will reportedly come with 4GB of RAM, 20.7MP rear camera, 8MP front-facing shooter and a large 4000mAh battery.

Unfortunately, as of now, nothing can be confirmed as Meizu has not yet officially scheduled an event for a new device. So, even if these invites are real and for the MX6 flagship, we will have to wait at least for a few days to hear something from the company.

After Meizu Metal, we haven’t heard much about the company’s upcoming smartphones. Now, it looks like a new Meizu device has been spotted on the AnTuTu benchmarking website, revealing some of it’s specifications. While the model is yet to be confirmed, it is said that this could be the upcoming Meizu MX6 flagship.

Meizu MX6 is said to feature the MT6797 Helio X20 10-core chipset. The phone will probably be the first one to come with this new age Mediatek chip. The CPU will be clocked at 1.846GHz according to the listing. Along with this powerful processor, the phone will reportedly feature 3GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage Mali-T880 MP4 (four core) GPU and a 1080p display of unknown size. Also, given that we can expect the device to debut sometime later in 2016, it’s not surprising that the phone will come with Android 6.0 on board.

To recap, Mediatek’s MT6797 deca-core CPU is going to be the first smartphone chipset to feature a tri-cluster design. The company is of the opinion that such a three cluster design will help reduce power consumption of the CPU. The chip features two Cortex A72 cores clocked at 2.5GHz, four Cortex A53 cores clocked at 2.0 GHz and another four Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.4GHz. It will be manufactured using 20nm process.

Given the unique design of the MT6797, we will have to wait and see to check out the performance and efficiency of the chip. There’s still a few months for the first MT6797 phone to hit the market (which should be the Meizu MX6), so we have some time before things get official.
