The founders of OnePlus used to say they only make flagship phones, but since the introduction of the R and the RT series, OnePlus seems to be focusing more and more on budget products. A couple of weeks ago, we briefly got our hands on the OnePlus ACE. Although it comes with the Dimensity 8100 Max processor and support for up to 150W fast charging, the lack of a ‘Never Settle’ slogan and the alert slider disappointed many OnePlus fans. Today, we’ll bring you the review of the OnePlus ACE Racing Edition, a product that may prove that the brand has just begun to settle.
OnePlus ACE Racing – Design
The design of the OnePlus ACE is based on the Realme GT Neo 3, while today’s Racing Edition is an appearance replacement edition for the OPPO K10 (review). It’s hard to notice the difference between them in terms of parameters, but over the appearance, they have a very similar back cover and are made of the exact same material. This plastic material with a matte finish can be very effective in preventing fingerprints, but may not be conducive to heat dissipation, which we will verify later in the gaming test.
The camera module of the OnePlus ACE Racing Edition looks identical to that of the OPPO K10. Although OnePlus has added a decorative camera shape in the lower right corner, seemingly disguising that this is a four-camera phone, the phone actually has only two lenses really working in daily shooting and another macro lens of only 2 megapixels.
For me the only positive detail of the Racing Edition is the support of a 3.5mm headphone jack, I believe that many people do not want to put up with the high latency of wireless headphones when playing games, but unfortunately, there is no other brand of flagship phones that support 3.5mm headphone jack except Sony. At this point, the Racing model looks good.
OnePlus ACE Racing – Display
The OnePlus ACE Racing Edition has a 1080P 120Hz LCD screen. As a result, it has a wider chin, as well as wider screen bezels, and a larger hole-punch front camera. And the in-screen fingerprint recognition has been also replaced by a side recognition button serving as a fingerprint reader, which, however, I think is a more efficient way to unlock the phone, as the capacitive fingerprint button has a better unlock speed and success rate than the under-screen fingerprint recognition in most cases.
Compared to the OnePlus ACE, the Racing Edition’s LCD screen looks sharper, especially when displaying text. But the LCD screen doesn’t perform as well as OLED in terms of color, contrast, and brightness, as you can see it has lighter colors and lower contrast, and doesn’t support HDR content, either.
So if you like watching movies on your phone, I don’t really recommend the OnePlus ACE Racing Edition, and another point to consider is that it doesn’t support AOD, which means you’ll have to manually wake up the screen to check it when you want to check the time or just miss a notification.
OnePlus ACE Racing – Performance & Benchmarks
OnePlus ACE Racing Edition comes with the enhanced Dimensity 8100 Max chipset. We didn’t do performance and gaming tests in the previous OnePlus ACE unboxing video, so this time I’ll show how the Dimensity 8100 Max performs on a OnePlus phone with the ACE Racing Edition.
Here are some benchmark results we got on the Ace racing.
Antutu score is 777529, GeekBench 5 score is 959 single-core, and 3760 in multi-cores. 3D MARK scores 6000. The performance is a bit better than the Redmi K50, so let’s see how it performs in real gaming. In Genshin Impact, the OnePlus ACE Racing Edition was able to maintain a frame rate of around 50 fps for the first ten minutes, but as the phone got hotter, the frame rate dropped to around 40, yet I didn’t feel that the phone was too hot and obviously, OnePlus was still too conservative in its performance optimization.
PUBG has not yet been optimized on the OnePlus ACE Racing Edition. We are only able to run the game at the maximum framerate of 40fps with HDR graphic settings. Obviously, it’s far too easy for the Dimensity chipset.
OnePlus ACE Racing – Cameras
The Ace Racing is weaker in terms of camera configuration compared to OnePlus ACE, and the main camera doesn’t support OIS, although its target group probably doesn’t care much about taking photos, here we still want to show you the camera comparison between these two phones.
Compared to the OnePlus ACE, the Racing Edition’s main camera has a similar dynamic range and detail performance, but the colors are lighter than the OnePlus ACE and the view angle is a bit smaller. The ultra-wide-angle lens performs similarly, with the OnePlus ACE having a wider view angle and more vibrant colors.
When we move to night scenes, the gap starts to show up, with the Racing Edition not comparing to the OnePlus ACE in terms of dark details due to the smaller sensor size and lack of OIS support.
From these samples, you can see that the Racing Edition’s photo is brighter, but looking at the photo parameters, we can see that it just uses a higher ISO and faster shutter speed, which explains why the Racing Edition photo has poorer detail.
But what’s interesting is that when you manually turn on the night mode to extend the shutter time and have a firm grip on the racing model, you will get a night shot with better detail performance than the OnePlus ACE.
What’s even more incredible is that the OnePlus ACE Racing Edition’s ultra-wide-angle lens performs much better than the OnePlus ACE, and in dimmer scenes as well, you can see the photos taken by the OnePlus ACE Racing Edition have better detail and color.
You can get the full-size samples of the OnePlus ACE and the ACE Racing edition here.
OnePlus ACE Racing – Battery Life & Charging
OnePlus ACE Racing Edition packs a 5000 mAh battery that supports up to 65W of fast charging. In the first 30 minutes it charged to 71%, but after that, it took 22 minutes to get fully charged.
OnePlus Ace Racing vs Regular Ace edition
Okay, so that’s the full review of the OnePlus ACE Racing Edition. As I said at the beginning, it’s a phone without many features of OnePlus, but it’s not a bad product in this price range, and the gaming performance is even able to compare to OnePlus’ flagships. I think it’s actually a good entry-level product for those new users who are new to OnePlus for the first time, but I still wish OnePlus could bring the alert slider button back to these entry-level products.

Last week, reliable tipster Mukul Sharma revealed that OnePlus is planning to soon launch two new TWS earphones, a new OnePlus smartwatch, and a smart band. But these are not the only OnePlus AIoT products coming this year as an earlier report has revealed that the OnePlus Nord smartwatch is also on the horizon.
Now, the OnePlus Nord smartwatch has appeared on India’s BIS certification with model number OPBBE221. Other than that, we can expect the generic smartwatch features from the device like music controls, call alerts feature, and notification alerts. The Bluetooth calling feature is also in great demand in the Indian smartwatch market these days, so it will be interesting to see if the company also provides that in its midrange-focused Nord smartwatch.

Samsung Galaxy S23 series will reportedly not come an under-display camera. South Korean publication Wccftech learnt about the development from supply chain sources. The news also means that we may have to wait until the Galaxy S24 for the UDC technology.
Samsung already uses a 4MP under-display camera on the Galaxy Z Fold 3. This means that the South Korean brand knows how to make the technology work. The report doesn’t state the exact reason Samsung is holding off on introducing an under-display camera on its upcoming flagship S-series.
Under-display camera technology is available only on a few smartphones these days including the Xiaomi Mi Mix 4, ZTE Axon 30 5G, and the Galaxy Z Fold 3. Although the technology works, the photo and video quality are in low resolution due to engineering challenges. They are also not on par with conventional selfie cameras.
It’s likely that Samsung wouldn’t want to compromise on the imaging quality with the under-display camera. Additionally, the technology would also push up the price of the Galaxy S23 series. The Galaxy S-series sells in large numbers and it would put Samsung at a bigger risk of complaints about the poor performance of the under-display camera.
Recently, it was reported that the Galaxy S23 series will come with an upgraded 12MP selfie camera. This is a significant and much-needed upgrade since the last two generations of Galaxy S-series phones came with the same 10MP sensor. Samsung usually announces its flagship Galaxy S series in February every year. There’s still plenty of time for the next-generation Galaxy S23, however, information has started surfacing on the web.
Earlier this year, CAD renders of the upcoming Samsung Galaxy A23 5G appeared online revealing its design and dimensions. Now, the device has appeared on Geekbench’s website revealing its key specifications.
According to the listing, the smartphone has the model number “SM-A236U.” It houses an octa-core chipset with six cores clocked 1.8GHz and two performance cores clocked at 2.21GHz. The chipset comes paired with Adreno 619 making it pretty evident that it is the Snapdragon 695 SoC.
Samsung Galaxy A21 5G Geekbench
1 of 2
Other than that, the device comes with 4GB of RAM and operates on Android 12-based One UI 4.1. Coming to the benchmark results, the device manages a score of d 674 in the single-core test and 2019 in the multi-core test of Geekbench 5.
Previously, reliable tipster OnLeaks shared the renders of the Galaxy A23 5G revealing that the smartphone will come with a waterdrop notch for the front camera along with thick bezels around the screen. On the back, it will look similar to last year’s Galaxy A32, A52, and A72 and will likely come with a quad-camera setup.
The right side of the phone will have the volume rocker and a power key, which is integrated with a fingerprint scanner and the bottom will house a 3.5mm audio jack, a microphone, a USB-C port, and a speaker grille. The device will measure around 165.4 x 77 x 8.5mm excluding the camera bump.

The Oppo Reno 8 series launch in India is just around the corner. We had previously covered the launch timeline for the lineup and now, a new leak has revealed the launch date for the new smartphones.
Reno 8 Pro
According to a MySmartPrice report, the Chinese smartphone maker is planning on launching at least two models from the Reno 8 series for the Indian market. For those unaware, the brand has already launched the Reno 8 series in its home market of China. Now, the latest report has revealed that the new Reno 8 phones will be announced in India near the middle of next month on July 18.
The report further adds that the company might skip the Reno 8 Pro+ 5G model for the Indian market, rather, it will be rebranding the Reno 8 Pro+ 5G as the Reno 8 Pro 5G in India. In other words, we will only be seeing two out of the three smartphones next month. If the report is correct, then the Reno 8 Pro+ model in India will be powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 8100 SoC rather than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 SoC since it is technically the Reno 8 Pro+ model rather than the actual Reno 8 Pro.
Reno 8 Pro+
Additionally, the Indian variant of the Reno 8 Pro will sport a 6.7 inch AMOLED display with a Full HD+ resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. On the back, the device will feature a triple camera setup, which consists of a 50 megapixel primary sensor, an 8 megapixel ultra wide angle lens, and a 2 megapixel macro sensor. The front houses a 32 megapixel selfie shooter.

The news arrives from Mark Gurman who shared the information on his Power On newsletter (Via Engadget). In the report, Bloomberg’s Gurman stated that the Cupertino based giant’s upcoming mixed reality headset (AR/VR enabled) will feature the newly unveiled M2 chipset. For those unaware, this chip is the latest addition into the Apple Silicon series, and is the successor to the M1 chips.
Additionally, the new M2 chip in the headset will also be paired with up to 16GB of RAM. Mark Gurman also talked about how the iPhone maker plans on launching a number of new products like a new HomePod speaker as well in the newsletter. Based on our previous report, the mixed reality headset from the company may feature two processors. As per known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, one of the chips will offer performance similar to the last gen M1 chip, while the other is a lower end chip designed to handle data from various sensors.
The mixed reality headset from Apple has been rumored to launch for a while now. The company has already obtained trademark for the RealityOS, with developers also finding references to this new OS in App Store upload logs as well. Unfortunately, it is still unknown when exactly the product will be released in the market. So stick around for more updates.

Live shots of the Xiaomi 12 Lite 5G appeared on Weibo in April, and now its hands-on video has appeared. The video reveals that the 12 Lite will be equipped with a flat display with a centrally positioned punch-hole and slim bezels. Its chin appears to be a bit thick compared to other bezels.
The right side of the device has a volume rocker and a power button. It could be embedded with an in-screen fingerprint scanner. The rear shell of the device has a triple camera unit at the top-left corner.
Xiaomi 12 Lite 5G specifications (rumored)

With the Apple iPhone 14 series launch edging closer, we have reported on various rumors and leaks regarding the 2022 iPhone lineup. And now, a new report has revealed some interesting information regarding the iPhone 14 Pro series.
For those unaware, we had previously covered a rumor that suggested that the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will feature Always On Display. Now, the latest Power On newsletter from Mark Gurman has revealed that this feature will come with new UI elements that ships with the iOS 16 operating system. The report claims that the Always On Display feature will showcase new screen widgets and more.
Notably, these widgets includes features like weather updates, fitness, and likely much more other options that the user might be able to customize. As per Gurman, “Like the Apple Watch, the iPhone 14 Pro will be able to show widgets displaying weather, calendars, stocks, activities and other data while the screen remains at a low brightness and frame rate. And there will be a setting also like the Apple Watch that keeps sensitive data from appearing on the lock screen for all to see.”
Apart from this, we can expect the iPhone 14 Pro’s Always On display to function like any other AOD on other smartphones. By this we mean, it will likely display basic information like time, date, notifications, and more. Keep in mind that this is still just an unconfirmed report so take this news with a pinch of salt for now and stick around for more updates.

Earlier this month, Motorola announced the Moto G42 in Brazil and Europe. Reports have claimed that the device will be released in India. A fresh leak by tipster Yogesh Brar has revealed the launch date of the Moto G42 for India.
Moto G42 India launch date (rumored)
According to Brar, the Moto G42 will break cover on July 4 in India. Hence, it is likely that the first teasers of the G42 will appear in the next few days in the country. Like the other Motorola phones, the G42 could be available for purchase through Flipkart.
Moto G42
At present, there is no word on the price of the Moto G42 for India. It will probably be probably priced at around Rs 15,000 (~$191) in the country. The device may come in rose and green colors.

Xiaomi is apparently planning on launching a new budget smartphone soon. The device in question is the Redmi 10 Prime+ 5G that might be launching soon as it appeared on a popular benchmarking platform.
The smartphone from the Chinese brand was recently spotted on GeekBench and is expected to be a a rebranded version of a Note 11 series model that was launched in China earlier this year. The exact model is rumored to be the Note 11E 5G. Taking a look at the benchmark listing, we can see that the device scored 198 points in the single core test and 1179 points in the multi core test.
The handset was listed on the major benchmarking platform with the model number 22041219I. This device is equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 700 SoC and is paired with a Mali G57 GPU. The benchmark has even revealed its RAM offering of 4GB, but Xiaomi will likely launch a budget smartphone with other configurations for markets like India. Additionally, internal storage capacity could also range from 64GB to even 128GB as well. The listing also revealed that the Redmi 10 Prime+ 5G will run on MIUI 13 based on Android 12 OS.
Note 11E 5G
Notably, the sighting on GeekBench hints at the device’s imminent launch, although, no finer details are currently available. But we do have the Note 11E 5G model for some speculations. This model sports a 6.58 inch FHD+ display with 90Hz refresh rate. The rear packs a dual camera setup including a 50 megapixel primary and 2 megapixel portrait sensor. Under the hood, a large 5,000mAh battery pack powers the device, which also supports 18W fast charging. So, the upcoming Redmi 10 Prime+ may feature similar specifications as this model.
Oppo entered the wearable category with the launch of the Oppo Watch in 2020. The company’s first wearable was made available globally. The Chinese version shipped with ColorOS Watch based on Android, whereas the international model came with a better chip and Wear OS. The successor Oppo Watch 2 with dual-OS and dual-chipset was released in 2021 and remained exclusive to China. Now, according to a reliable leaker, the firm is gearing up to launch its third-gen smartwatch.
Oppo Watch 2
Earlier today, Digital Chat Station took to Weibo to reveal that Oppo is set to launch the Oppo Watch 3 soon. The tipster also disclosed that the company will be debuting the Oppo Band 2.
As per him, the Oppo Watch 3 will arrive in three variants, just like the Oppo Watch 2. These models will carry model numbers OWW211, OWW212, and OWW213.
Unfortunately, he does not say how these versions will differ from each other. Perhaps, two of them may have a 42mm dial (Bluetooth-only, eSIM) and one of them could feature a 46mm dial (eSIM) like the last year’s model.
But the leaker does mention some of the features of this upcoming smartwatch. He says that the wearable will come with a high screen-to-body ratio and a micro-curved square display. It will be available in four colors, such as black, silver, dark gray, and light gold.
On the other hand, the OPPO Band 2 bearing model number OBB211 will be sold in black and blue color options. The second-gen Oppo band will arrive with NFC, SpO2 sensor for blood oxygen level monitoring, and more.
Unfortunately, that’s all the information we have regarding Oppo’s upcoming wearables as of now. We are looking forward to learning more about them in the coming days before their official launch.
