DJI launches new RS 3, RS 3 Pro Gimbals & DJI Transmission wireless system

While DJI is best known for launching drones, the company is also quite popular for its gimbals as well. Now, the company has launched two new gimbals, namely the RS 3 and RS 3 Pro, along with a new Transmission wireless system.

Interestingly, all three of the new products that were recently unveiled borrow features from the Chinese company’s first cinema camera Ronin 4D. The RS 3 is basically the successor to the RSC 2 and is the smaller model of the two new gimbals. It features a new axis locking mechanism that releases automatically once the gimbal is powered on. In other words, it is meant to help make the filming process set up quickly.

The RS 3 also features a new Bluetooth shutter button, which means you can begin recording wirelessly, without needing a camera control cable. Notably, the company claims a “20 percent improved performance over the RSC 2,” which should be noticeable when filming moving subjects like cars from a low angle. Other notable feature includes a 1.8 inch OLED display that should also help make finer adjustments on the go. Although, the interchangeable battery grip only offers 12 hours of battery life compared to the previous gen’s 14 hours.

The RS 3 is a handheld gimbal and weighs just 1.3 kilograms and has a maximum payload of 3 kilograms. But for those that feel that this limit is too low, DJI has another product that has a higher payload capacity. The new RS 3 Pro is the larger model between the two and weighs 1.5 kilograms but has a maximum payload of 4.5 kilograms. Similar to the base variant, the Pro model also shares all of its features like the Bluetooth shutter control button, a 1.8 inch OLED touchscreen panel, and the physical mode button on the grip.

DJI

However, there is one notable feature that the RS 3 Pro offers. It is the new LiDAR focusing technology, which was also found on the Ronin 4D. With the help of this technology and the improved motor focus, the DJI LiDAR Range Finder helps turn manual lenses into autofocus lenses. Furthermore, the ActiveTrack Pro also promises to help offer a steady and in focus shots despite demanding scenes by improving subject detection and tracking.

The company’s third and final product is the new DJI Transmission, which is its wireless video solution. Its tech again borrows features from the Ronin 4D cinema camera. It allows for remote monitoring and control of your camera, the RS 3 Pro gimbal, or even both at the same time. The new O3 Pro transmission also supports video casting up to a range of 6 kilometers at 1080p 60fps with live audio monitoring as well. The new wireless video transmission system arrives with a transmitter that sits on top of whatever device one wishes to pair it with and has a receiver mounted on a 7 inch monitor that has 1500 nits of peak brightness.

The two new gimbals from DJI starts sale today (16th June 2022), with the base RS 3 starting from 549 US Dollars. On the other hand, the RS 3 Pro costs 869 US Dollars. Prospective buyers can also bundle the RS 3 with a number of different accessories like an extra handle, a new focus motor, a carrying case, and more, but it will cost you another 719 US Dollars. Similarly, the RS 3 Pro combo includes an extended quick release plate, phone holder, new focus motor, Ronin image transmitter, and more for another 1,099 US Dollars. Lastly, the DJI Transmission starts sale later this year for 2,499 US Dollars.

Samsung loses Premium TV market share to Huawei in China

Samsung Electronics has recently seen a drop in its market share for premium TVs. The company has apparently seen a noticeable dip, while Huawei manages to see a rise in the same category.

Samsung Neo QLED 8K 2022

According to TheElec report, analytics based firm DSCC (Display Supply Chain Consultant) has reported that the company has seen a substantial drop over two years. The South Korean tech giant’s high 20 percent market share in 2019 had dropped to just high 10 percent in 2021. On the other hand, the market share of its rival, Huawei, went up in the Chinese market for premium TVs.

In 2020, Samsung’s market share fell below 20 percent for the first time during the fourth quarter of 2020 and even down to 13 percent in Q4 of 2021. For those unaware, premium TVs include LCD panels with quantum dot films, which the South Korean firm markets as QLED. But while the brand saw a dip in its share, Huawei saw a rise in its market standing. The Chines tech giant saw a bump in premium TV share from 10 percent in 2019 to high 20 percent in 2021.

Samsung

In other words, Huawei could have stolen Samsung’s market share in China. During this same period, other brands like TCL and Hisense also saw a dip in their market share in premium TVs. So despite its smartphone business being crippled, it seems that Huawei still has a strong foothold in other tech categories.

According to a new report by RootMyGalaxy, Vivo is working on another X80 series phone for the global market.

The publication has come across a new Vivo phone with model number V2208 in the firmware code. It has been found that the model number belongs to the unannounced Vivo X80 Lite 5G smartphone. At present, there is no information available on the specifications of the device.

Vivo X80
Vivo X80

Vivo launched the X50 Lite model back in May 2020. It hasn’t launched a Lite model for the X60 and X70 series. The moniker of the device suggests that it could be a toned-down version of the Vivo X80 handset. We hope that the device will soon show up in the database of certification platforms, which will give us more information about it.

In related news, Vivo is reportedly working on a flagship phone powered by the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset. This device is likely to debut in the global market with the Vivo X80 Pro+ moniker. There is a possibility that this device may come equipped with better cameras as compared to the Vivo X80 Pro.

The X80 Pro+ may feature a 50-megapixel main camera, a 48-megapixel Sony IMX598 lens, a 50-megapixel Samsung JN1 snapper, and a 50-megapixel Samsung JN2 camera. This device is also speculated to have support for 120W fast charging. It is expected to break in October this year.

New Amazfit Band may launch soon after 2 years: Report

Zepp (formerly Huami) is popular for its Amazfit-branded smartwatches and Xiaomi Mi Bands. Very few people know that the company also sells Amazfit-branded fitness trackers called Amazfit Band. This product line may soon get a new model after nearly two years.

The last self-branded fitness tracker from Zepp went official in the second half of 2020 as Amazfit Band 5. It can be termed as a pro version of Mi Band 5 as it is similar to the Xiaomi-branded wearable but with some additional features.

Recently, the Xiaomi Band 7 was released in China. It is expected to hit the international markets very soon. Ahead of that, a report by Logger (via Xiaomiui) suggests that Zepp may also release its own-branded fitness tracker soon.

However, unlike the Amazfit band 5, which is based on Mi Band 5, the upcoming Amazfit Band will not be similar to the Xiaomi Band 7. Codenamed Bari, this product will likely carry the model numbers A2177 (standard) and A2283 (NFC).

It is expected to sport a rectangular display with a resolution of 194 x 368 pixels. Most importantly, it will be backed by a 232mAh battery, which is larger than the 180mAh and 200mAh batteries present inside the Xiaomi Band 7 and Redmi Smart Band Pro, respectively.

As for software, it will ship with the new Zepp OS. Finally, it will offer GPS and pin unlock feature.

The marketing name of this forthcoming Amazfit Band is not known at the moment. Perhaps, more details may emerge in the coming days.

Apple M2 chip is up to 20% faster than the M1: Leaked Benchmark

Apple recently unveiled its latest entry in its MacBook lineup of notebooks, which were powered by its new M2 chipset. Now, a leaked benchmark has revealed the performance bump offered by its M2 chip over the previous generation’s M1 chip.

Apple M2 Chipset Features

The news arrives from a leaked benchmark on GeekBench. This benchmark was of the newly announced 13 inch MacBook Pro that was running on the M2. The chip had a clock speed of around 3.49GHz, which is higher than the 3.2GHz of the last gen M1 chipset. The M2 managed to get a score of 1919 points in single core tests and 8928 points in the multi score tests.

In other words, the M2 was 12 percent faster than the M1 in single core, since it achieved just 1707 points, and up to 20 percent faster in multi core tests, with the M1 getting just 7419 points. This basically hints at the M2 being around 18 percent faster than the M1 overall, when considering the GeekBench 5 listing. However, that is not all, as the M2 chip scored 30,627 points in the Metal benchmark, which is quite a bit higher than the M1’s 21,001 score.

This is likely possible thanks to the 10 core GPU on the M2, over the M1’s 8 core GPU. As of right now, the latest generation of proprietary Apple chip is only available on the new 2022 MacBook Air and the 13 inch MacBook Pro model. Although, the Cupertino based giant is expected to announced new models that will feature the M2 soon. So stick around for more updates.
