Earlier this month, a couple of leaks surrounding what is said to be the successor of Qualcomm‘s Snapdragon 888 chipset. The chipset codenamed SM8450 is said to be built on a 4nm process and is expected to power next-generation flagship phones.
The SM8450 has now appeared in the rumor mill again. Noted Chinese tipster Digital Chat Station has revealed that the upcoming 4nm Qualcomm chipset is already being sampled by many of the top Chinese phone manufacturers who may likely release models powered by the next-gen Qualcomm flagship. The tipster also disclosed that the enhancement on the upcoming chipset may be more than on last year’s Snapdragon 865 and SD 865+.

The chipset also features an Adreno 730 GPU, Adreno 665 Video Processing Unit (VPU), and Adreno 1195 Display Processing Unit (DPU). The chipset will also integrate a Spectra 680 ISP for image processing.
Further, the Snapdragon 888 successor will also feature a Snapdragon X65 5G Modem-RF system. The 5G modem was first announced in February this year and brings superior speed and support for up to 10Gbps speeds on both standalone and non-standalone 5G networks. The upcoming processor also brings a FastConnect 6900 chip that provides support for Bluetooth 5.2 and Wi-Fi 6E connectivity.
Qualcomm is expected to announce the Snapdragon 888 successor in the second half of the year.

ZTE is one of the leading companies when it comes to telecom networking equipment and with increased restrictions from the United States, the company is now looking to update its strategy for doing business.
Today, the Chinese tech company has proposed a new “1+2+3” strategy for its 5G technology and has also announced the world’s first commercial pilot of a wireless intelligence orchestration network and a 5G industry networking solution.
Bai Gang, Vice President of ZTE says that chips, algorithms, and architecture forms foundation of the technology and adds that the company will continue to iterate and innovate in three aspects — capability, performance, and efficiency.
Further, the company’s Senior Vice President Zhang Wanchun pointed out that in the past year, the 5G technology has benefited several industries and the current 5G applications have demonstrated significant economic and social value. He adds that in the future, the development of 5G techonology should be such that it adds value.
Additionally, the company has also released the “5G Industry Cloud Network Soliution” with China Telecom and the “5G Voice Network New Architecture” with China Mobile.
A couple of weeks ago, ZTE launched its Nubia Z30 Pro smartphone in China, which is the rebranded version of the ZTE Axon 30 Ultra but comes with a smaller battery, faster charging speed support, and a higher price tag.
Apple has announced its latest pair of TWS earbuds under the Beats brand. The Beats Studio Buds as they are called are vastly different from the 2019 Beats Powerbeats Pro in terms of design and features. They are also significantly cheaper and can be said to even support Android devices better than any of Apple’s other offerings.
The Beats Studio Buds feature a stem-less design, unlike Apple’s AirPods. They also ditch the hook-like design of the Powerbeats Pro which means they are smaller in form factor. Available in Black, Red, and White, and weighing 5 grams each, the earbuds will be easily recognizable by the famous Beats “b” logo in white on each earbud.
According to the product page, the earbuds use a proprietary layered driver with a dual-chamber acoustic design for clear sound and an effective Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) performance.
Like a number of earbuds with ANC, these also have a Transparency Mode that allows you to hear the world around you. It does this with the help of external-facing microphones that pick up the sounds of your surroundings.
The Beats Studio Buds don’t feature an Apple chip which is surprising but you still get features such as hands-free Hey Siri, a pairing interface similar to AirPods, and integration in the Control Center.
According to The Verge, the lack of an Apple chip means that you don’t get features such as automatic pairing across Apple devices on your iCloud account, audio sharing, and the ability to automatically switch between the devices in use such as from your iPhone to iPad or Mac. However, you do get support for Apple Music’s new Dolby Atmos spatial audio.
While the earbuds lack features associated with Apple earbuds, it does work pretty well with Android devices. They support Fast pair which means they are linked to your Google Account after the first setup and don’t need to be paired to other devices tied to that Google account. They will also display their battery status as well as that of the case under Bluetooth settings. Another feature is support for Find Device which lets you find the device or check its last known location. The product page says you will also be able to update the firmware with the Beats app for Android.
The Beats Studio Buds has an IPX4 rating for sweat and water resistance. The earbuds have on-device controls that allow you to control playback, answer/reject calls, turn on ANC or transparency mode, or call up the assistant.
The earbuds offer a battery life of 8 hours on a single charge that goes up to 24 hours with the case. They also support fast charging – a 5-minute charge will provide up to 1 hour of playback.
The case of the Beats Studio Buds, which weighs 48 grams, charges via a USB-C port (no wireless charging support). It comes with a USB-C to USB-C charging cable and three pairs of ear tips of different sizes.
If you want the new earbuds, they are listed on Amazon US and Best Buy but are not yet available for purchase until June 24. It has also been announced in China for ¥1099 (~$172) and it will be available starting July 2.
The media was awash recently with news that Korean tech giant Samsung had halted plans to mass-produce the much-anticipated Galaxy S21 FE due to a chip shortage. Samsung has now responded to the report, stating it has not made a decision on whether to stop production of the Galaxy S21 FE.
The Samsung Galaxy S21 FE render by Steve Hemmerstoffer
In a statement sent to Bloomberg, the company said: “Although we cannot discuss the details of the unreleased products, the so-called suspension of production has not yet been determined.”
The news of Samsung halting product of the expected phone was first carried by Korean blog ETNews and was hinged on the prevailing shortages being encountered in the semiconductor industry. The report also asserted that the Qualcomm processors set aside for the S21 FE had been reassigned to foldable devices scheduled for launch in August. The report has since been deleted, ostensibly due to Samsung’s response.
The Galaxy S21 FE is considered a trimmed-down version of the vanilla Galaxy S21, with no significant reduction in functions and a more affordable price. The new version will take over from the Galaxy S20 FE which was released last year. The FE stands for Fans Edition which is reflected in the premium build and affordable pricing for which the series is known since its inception.
Despite Samsung’s debunking of the report of production being suspended, the company didn’t outrightly affirm that production is still going on. Thus, it may take some time before the actual state of things is known. The Galaxy S20 FE wasn’t announced until September last year and it went on sale in October. We expect the Galaxy S21 FE release schedule to be around that same time.
The 6.43-inch S-AMOLED display smartphone comes with a Snapdragon 888 Octa-core processor and a triple rear camera setup of 64MP + 8MP + 2MP. The smartphone features a 16MP selfie camera. Qualcomm has recently stated that it is ready to invest in Arm if the 40 billion US Dollars NVIDIA deal fails. This statement arrives as the takeover of the British chipmaker might be blocked by regulators.
According to a Telegraphreport, the US Chipmaking giant’s chief executive Cristiano Amon said that Qualcomm would be ready to buy stake in Arm along with other industry players. At the moment, the NVIDIA deal to acquire Arm is currently under investigation by the UK Competition and Markets Authority. Similarly, concerns have also risen from other nations like the US and Japan, with Arm being under the ownership of Japan’s Softbank Group.
Amon stated that “If it moves out of Softbank and it goes into a process of becoming a publicly traded company, [with] a consortium of companies that invest, including many of its customers, I think those are great possibilities. We will definitely be open to it, and we have had discussions with other companies that feel the same way.” These other companies reportedly includes the likes of E-retailing giant Amazon, and even electric car maker Tesla.
Furthermore, the multi billion US Dollar from NVIDIA has been under scrutiny from various rival firms and regulators. Previously, we had also reported on Google and Microsoft raising their own concerns, citing that the takeover could potentially hamper competition in the market. So stay tuned for more, as we will be providing updates when additional information is available or any notable developments surface in the future.

Apple has registered strong sales in the first quarter of this year in India. The company recorded its best quarterly sales of laptops and tablets in the region, as per a new report.
According to a Canalys report (Via QuartzIndia), the Cupertino based giant saw a great sales in the first three months of this year. The report revealed that the company’s overall PC sales reached 208 million units, which is a figure nearly double that of the sale period from a year prior. Canalys added that the iPhone maker’s growth in India was “largely aided by the availability of its official online store.”
For those unaware, the company officially launched its official online store in the country in the second half of last year. This launch was labelled as apt and timely by certain experts and the brand’s CEO Tim Cook credited the online store for the company’s robust iPhone sales in India last year. Although, keep in mind that the growth recorded by various OEMs isn’t just due to a strong performance in 2021, but rather a slump that was faced back in 2020.
Despite the supply chain for various vendors being crippled in mid 2020, the overall PC sales in India, including tablets, surged by 72 percent year on year. This figure reached 4 million units between the period of January and March 2021. The market saw a growth due to the growing trend of working from home and online education becoming more common. But Apple did state that its MacBook and iPad production are currently facing delays due to the world facing a major shortage of semiconductors.
Earlier this month, NIO announced that it has officially received the European Whole Vehicle Type Approval (EWVTA) for its latest flagship electric SUV, the ES8. The EWVTA certification marks a foundation for the entry of the company into the Norway and the overall European market.
Furthermore, the NIO ES8 for Europe has officially approved for mass production and license plate registration in all EU countries. Back in May 2021, the Chinese automobile maker also announced its entry into Norway, which marks the first time the company is selling its vehicles outside of its home country of China. The company will be selling its first model, the ES8, in September of this year.
Additionally, the company will also offer Norwegian users its direct sales and service network encompassing NIO House, its in house App for European users, Power Swap Stations, and NIO Life. With the electric vehicle market seeing a rise in demand in the automobile market, the Chinese brand’s entry into the region could have it become a major player in the region. Just earlier this month, we had reported on the brand seeing massive surge in sales of its electric vehicles, so it is clear that the brand is looking to expand its presence in foreign markets as well.
Earlier this year, Google announced that it will be shifting to a 4-week stable update release cycle for Chrome browser starting in Q3. Now, months later, the company announces a similar change for Chrome OS.
Right now, Google releases a new Chome OS stable update every 6 weeks. According to a new announcement post (via 9to5Google) by Chrome OS release TPM lead Marina Kazatcker, the duration will be reduced to 4 weeks, starting with M96 in Q4.
With this move, the company aims to rapidly deliver new features to customers. Also, the search giant will continue to prioritize the key pillars of Chrome OS – security, stability, speed, and simplicity.
Further, Google will be also introducing a new 6-month stable update channel for enterprise and education users after the release of M96 in Q4. This will be really helpful for administrators who manage a vast number of devices.
As mentioned in the beginning, the Chrome browser will be moving to the 4-week release in Q3 with M94. As a result, to bridge the gap between this and the Chrome OS 4-week release from Q4 with M96, Google will be skipping M95 for Chrome OS.
What are your thoughts on Google shortening the stable update release cycle for Chrome browser and Chrome OS? Do let us know in the comment section.
According to a NikkeiAsiareport, the Chinese tech giant is resolute in developing class leading semiconductor technology, as per Catherine Chen, a Huawei director and senior vice president. The official also added that the firm has no plans on restructuring its chip design unit, HiSilicon. In other words, the company won’t be laying off anyone from its subsidiary. At the moment, the HiSilicon had more than 7,000 workers back in 2020. This sizeable number would likely be hard to maintain considering the unit is expected to be unable to contribute to the company’s earnings for what could be years.
Although, Chen stated that the company is privately held and is unaffected by external forces, while its management has indicated that it intends to retain HiSilicon despite the US sanctions. The chip designing unit was founded back in 2004 and is considered one of the most advanced chip developers in the world, also known for making the Kirin lineup of processors for Huawei’s smartphones.
In the first quarter of this year, the unit brought in 385 million US Dollars in sale, which marked a sizeable drop of 87 percent from the firm’s highest ever sales from back in Q2 2020. Chen further added that the company will not reduce HiSilicon’s workforce and will continue to develop semiconductors and will manage despite the sanctions that are expected to remain for two to three years. the company would also be promoting their own semiconductor industries and will help HiSilicon gain new supply chain partners that do not rely on US technology.
Last week, Android Police’s Max Weinbach claimed that Samsung will be announcing the Galaxy Z Fold3, Galaxy Z Flip3, Galaxy Watch4, and Galaxy Watch Active4 on Aug. 3. Devices bearing model numbers such as SM-R885 and SM-R880 have received certification from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). These appear to be the LTE and Wi-Fi variants of the upcoming Galaxy Watch4.
— Simranpal Singh (ਸਿਮਰਨਪਾਲ ਸਿੰਘ) (@simransingh931) June 14, 2021
The SM-R885 model is found to be equipped with support for LTE variants and other connectivity features such as dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GNSS, and NFC. The listing reveals that the model number of its battery is EB-BR880ABY. Previous listings have revealed that this battery has a capacity of 240mAh. It is equipped with a wireless charge EP-OR825, which is known for supporting 5W wireless charging.

Rumors surrounding the Galaxy Watch4 have revealed that it will be available in 42mm (or 41mm) and 46mm (or 45mm) sizes. The company is also rumored to launch Galaxy Watch Active4 alongside it and it is expected to arrive in 40mm and 42mm sizes.
The Galaxy Watch4 and Watch Active4 are expected to run on a renewed version of the WearOS developed by Google in collaboration with Samsung and Fitbit. The OS is said to have an overlay of OneUI by Samsung. The Active model is rumored to arrive with a titanium alloy body, narrow bezels with 2D glass, and a 5nm chip. It is also rumored to arrive in a stainless-steel version. The Watch4 and Active4 models are unlikely to support non-invasive blood sugar level monitoring. The LTE variant of the Watch4 is also expected to arrive in India as it has bagged certification from the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS).
Xiaomi has just announced the launch date for the Mi Watch Revolve Active in India. The company is set to launch the new smartwatch in the country on the 22nd of June 2021.
Welcome, to the era of choosing health over everything.
To living mindfully and consciously To happier minds and healthier bodies To always getting more from life
The Chinese tech giant shared the launch date for the wearable earlier today (14th June 2021) on its official Mi India Twitter handle. The upcoming smartwatch will launch along with the Mi 11 Lite in India. Both products will be launched on 22nd June 2021 at 12pm IST. Although, the Mi 11 Lite will be a Flipkart exclusive (a popular local e-retailer), while the Mi Watch Revolve Active will be available on Amazon India.
Notably, the listing for the smartwatch has also revealed some of its key features. Looking at the wearable, the device features a circular dial and two buttons on the right side. Furthermore, the smartwatch will feature common health tracking and health monitoring systems along with the SpO2 oxygen mapping as well. It will also include VO2 Max tracker, heart rate monitor, and body energy monitor for health tracking.
Mi Watch Revolve
Previously, the company had launched the Mi Watch Revolve back in September 2020 in India. This was a rebranded version of the Chinese Mi Watch Color smartwatch. Now, the Mi Watch Revolve Active appears to be a rebranded version of the European Mi Watch. The mi Watch Revolve was launched in the region for 9,999 INR (roughly 136 US Dollars), so we can expect a price tag slightly higher than this owing to the addition of the SpO2 sensor over the base Mi Watch Revolve.
