Xiaomi’s Mi TV 4A 50-Inch Model Discounted By 200 Yuan, Available For 1,999 Yuan ($314)

Earlier this year, Xiaomi became the first smartphone manufacturer to launch a device powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 636 processor — Xiaomi Redmi Note 5. Later, a couple of devices powered by the same processor got launched, namely Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1, Asus Zenfone 5, and Meizu E3.

Now, Xiaomi is again so to be working on a smartphone that is powered by Qualcomm‘s upcoming yet announced chipset — Snapdragon 638, which is expected to be an upgraded version of the Snapdragon 636 SoC.

The China-based company is reportedly working on a smartphone codenamed “Valentino”, which has now surfaced on a benchmarking website Geekbench. The phone’s listing on Geekbench reveals that the device is powered by SDM638 processor, which is clocked at 1.44GHz and has octa-core CPU.

The listing further reveals that the device packs 6GB RAM and is running on the Android 8.1 Oreo operating system. It has managed to 1485 points in Geekbench’s single-core test and 5440 points in the multi-core test.

While nothing is yet known about this Snapdragon 638 chipset, it appears that the single-core score of the chipset is higher than the Snapdragon 650 and slightly lower than the Snapdragon 820. The chipset is expected to come equipped with Adreno 509 or higher GPU.

At Mobile World Congress this year, Qualcomm announced its new Snapdragon 700 series for processors, bringing on-device artificial intelligence thanks to Qualcomm’s AI Engine, along with improvements to the camera, device performance, and power consumption.

Meanwhile, Xiaomi is currently set to launch its new Redmi S-series smartphone — Redmi S2 on 10th May. The smartphone seems to be focusing on the camera capabilities, as the company has already confirmed that the device will come with an AI Portrait mode as well as AI beauty feature.

According to the previous leaks, Xiaomi Redmi S2 packs Snapdragon 625 chipset and the device will be available in three variants based on memory configuration — 2GB RAM, 3GB RAM and 4GB RAM and 16GB, 32GB and 64GB storage options.

On the rear side, the phone is said to have a dual camera setup with a 12MP + 5MP combo while for selfies, the device will feature a big 16MP sensor. It will be running Android 8.1 Oreo-based MIUI 9.5 out-of-the-box and will be powered by a 3,000mAh battery.

A new and interesting upper-midrange phone is feeding the rumors in the past few days: 360 N7. Even though it doesn’t come from one of the popular Chinese brands in the world, this handset will represent an important rival of the best Chinese mid-range phones out there, such as Oppo R15, Vivo X21, and Xiaomi Mi 6X. 360 Mobiles has just published a new image which confirms the launch date of the new device as well as its focus on artificial intelligence. According to the teaser, the phone will be able to think instead of the user and provide a very advanced user experience thanks to AI. The teaser also confirms the announcement date: 360 N7 will be official on May 8 at Beijing Film Director’s Center. The handset was recently spotted on the AnTuTu benchmark and it has scored about 130,000 points in the test made on the platform. The score is consistent with the ones obtained by smartphones powered by the Snapdragon 660 SoC. 360 N7 is expected to come with the octa-core Helio P60 chipset, which is actually the best SoC by MediaTek with a max clock frequency of 2 GHz.

The processor, manufactured with a 12 nm production process, will be supported by 6 GB of RAM and 64 or even 128 GB of internal storage depending on the variant. 360 N7 is said to sport a 5.99-inch Full HD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and a dual camera setup on its rear side. Its design should be entirely made of metal just like most of the other mid-rangers, while the battery should support Pump Express technology (18W fast charging). According to reports, the device should be launched in the Chinese market with a price tag of about $200.

New Xiaomi Redmi S2 Official Posters Project its AI Portrait & AI Beauty Features

Xiaomi is expected to launch the Redmi S2 in an event that wouldbe held at Suning headquarters in Nanjing, China. Xiaomi Redmi S2 is a new Redmi series and so not much is known about the features the device would pack. Xiaomi has now revealed two key features of the Redmi S2 via a couple of official posters and they bother on the camera. The poster shows the device will come with an AI Portrait mode as well as AI beauty feature.

Xiaomi Redmi S2 should be a lower mid-range model which has a lot of design similarities with the recently launched Mi 6X. However, Xiaomi seems to also bring the AI features of the Mi 6X into this model. The Portrait mode based on artificial intelligence will enhance facial rcognition of thefront camera to make it more accurate and also to bring ore blur to the background. The camera also comes with AI Beauty which has the ability to recognize the makeup on the face of a lady and beautify the photo while protecting the lip makeup and eye detail colors.

These are basically similar features that most Xiaomi phones released recetly are being projected as featuring. It now seems like an abuse of the word “AI”. But then, Xiaomi calls the features AI Portrait mode and AI Beauty. We’ll have to wait to see how the features pan out.

As a reminder, the device is expected to feature a similar 5.99-inch display with the 18:9 aspect ratio. However, the display resolution will be an HD+ (1440 x 720pixels) resolution. The device also seems to retain the ultra-thin build of the Mi 6X but we can’t tell from all of the pictures if the 3.5mm audio jack will also be missing on this model. Also visible is the U-shaped antenna design at the back and the dual camera setup stacked vertically. There is also a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.

Furthermore, Xiaomi Redmi S2 packs a Snapdragon 625 chipset clocked at 2.0GHz. The device will also come in 2GB RAM, 3GB RAM and 4GB RAM variants as well as 16GB, 32GB and 64GB storage options. Keeping the lights on is a 3000mAh battery. The rear cameras are said to be a 12MP + 5MP combo while for selfies, the device will feature a big 16MP sensor. Providing the interface will be the Android 8.1 Oreo-based MIUI 9.5. Finally, the Redmi S2 will be available in several color variants, including Pink which is the colour of the model on display.

Exclusive: Leaked Xiaomi Mi 7 Cases Confirm Some Design Features

Unconfirmed reports tip the Xiaomi Mi 7 as launching on May 23. Even though the date isn’t certain, we won’t fail to notice the avalanche of leaks bothering on the Mi 7 that have been appearing online lately. You may wish to check out our Mi 7 rumour round up article. Yet another Mi 7 leak has appeared online. This time around we get to see the TPU case of the device. Ordinarily, this would have been nothing spectacular if not that it confirms a few features of the device.

One of the features that the TPU cases confirms is the presence of the 3.5mm audio jack on the device. The cut out for the 3.5mm audio jack is located at the chin, just by the side of the USB port. In addition, the USB port is a Type-C port. At the top edge, there is only an opening for the IR blaster.

The cases also seem to lay to rest talks of the Mi 7 packing a vertically aligned rear camera similar to that of the Mi Mix 2s in design. The power button and volume rockets are all located at the right-hand side of the device.

The Mi 7 tempered glass protective panel recently leaked reaffirming the notch design on the device. On the internals, there is no doubt that the flagship will be powered by a Snapdragon 845 SoC. The SoC is expected to be coupled with 6 GB of RAM. It may come in storage choices like 64 GB and 128 GB. It will likely pack a 3350mAh battery. The Chinese manufacturer has already introduced wireless charging on the Mi MIX 2S flagship phone. Hence, the 3,350mh battery of the Mi 7 is also expected to carry support for Qi wireless charging.

As of the camera, the device is expected to come with a 16-megapixel camera at the back, along with an LED flash. On the front side, it will feature an 8-megapixel autofocus snapper with a wide-angle lens.

In terms of connectivity options, the device will support 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2.4/5GHz), Bluetooth 5 LE, GPS with GLONASS, USB 3.1, and NFC. The smartphone will run on Android 8.0 Oreo operating system out of the box, with the company’s own custom skin on top. The phone will be powered by a 3,000mAh battery with support for fast charging technology.

While there is no information available about the phone’s official launch date, pricing or availability, the smartphone is expected to be launched soon and will be available in Black color.

Meanwhile, it appears that the sales of Samsung‘s flagship smartphones — Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9 Plus are not as per the company’s expectations. Samsung is said to have sold 707,000 units of the Galaxy S9 in the first two months, which is lower than almost 1 million unit sales of its predecessor Galaxy S8 last year.

A recent report from Strategy Analytics placed Samsung’s Galaxy S9 Plus at the sixth position in the global smartphone shipments, behind Xiaomi’s Redmi 5A, which took the fifth spot. The top four spots have been taken by Apple‘s smartphones — iPhone X, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone 7.

A few months ago, Vivo launched Vivo Y75, a mid-range smartphone under its Y-series in China. Now, the China-based smartphone manufacturer is getting ready to launch Vivo Y75s.

LG Q7 Will Come With MediaTek SoC, But Not The One You Want

LG is working on a successor for the midrange Q6 that launched last year but latest report says the LG Q7 won’t come with a Qualcomm processor.

The LG Q6 and its siblings (Q6+ and Q6α) are all powered by the Snapdragon 435 mobile platform. But for their successor, LG is reported to have switched to MediaTek. Sadly, it is not the Helio P60.

The info comes from leaker @rquandt. In a tweet posted earlier today, he said the LG Q7 LM-Q610 is powered by a MediaTek SoC and adds in a reply that it is not the Helio P60 but a less powerful and older chipset.

There are a number of mid-range MediaTek processors that are capable of offering impressive performance such as the Helio P23. There is also the more powerful Helio X23 but that might be a little far-fetched.

LG K30 Launches: A Budget Phone For T-Mobile Users

LG has announced a new budget phone for the US market. The new LG K30 was announced yesterday and is now available on T-Mobile.

The LG K30 is actually not a new phone. It is the same device as the LG K10 released in the first quarter of the year but with a new name and some little differences.

The phone has a 5.3-inch HD screen and is powered by a Snapdragon 425 processor. It has 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage (16GB on the K10). A single 13MP sensor with PDAF sits on the back and there is a 5MP selfie camera.

The LG K30 has a 2880mAh battery with support for fast charging. There is also a fingerprint scanner on the rear of the device. It also runs Android 7.1 Nougat and not Marshmallow like the K10

While the specs are entry level, the price is a bit on the high side. T-Mobile is asking for $225 for the device or $9/month for 24 months. It is available only in Aurora Black.

Vivo X21 With In-Display Fingerprint Sensor Could Launch In India This Month

Vivo X21, a smartphone that comes with an under-display fingerprint sensor, was launched earlier this year in China. Recently, the company announced that the smartphone will also be available in Singapore from 5th May. Now, according to the rumors, the phone is expected to launch in India later this month.

The reports suggest that while the Vivo X21 with under display fingerprint sensor will launch in India this month, the smartphone will go on sale in June. Currently, there is no information available if the company is planning to launch the regular model with traditional fingerprint sensor in India.

The smartphone comes with a 6.28-inch Full-HD+ display with 19:9 aspect ratio and a screen resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels. The phone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor, coupled with Adreno 512 GPU, 6GB RAM and two options for internal storage — 64GB and 128GB. There’s also a microSD card slot, enabling users to further expand the phone’s storage capacity.

Coming to the camera department, on the front side, the smartphone features a 12-megapixel shooter with f/2.0 aperture. On the rear side, there’s a 12-megapixel primary sensor with f/1.8 aperture and a 5-megapixel secondary lens with f/2.4 aperture.

Connectivity options on the Vivo X21 include 4G LTE, dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, USB 2.0 with OTG support, and GPS. OnePlus 6’s New Teaser Could Be Hinting At A Heart Rate Sensor

OnePlus has just published a teaser image hinting at the presence of a dedicated heart rate sensor on the handset. The image does not explicitly confirm the presence of the sensor, but it contains an electrocardiogram with a 6 in the middle which suggests that it may indeed be present.

Heart rate monitoring is a popular feature on smartwatches, smart bands, and similar fitness trackers. Thanks to heart rate sensor we can easily analyze our level of fatigue while we are busy with a physical activity. With the wearable market not making the same numbers as the smartphones market, having a heart sensor on the OnePlus 6 may be an interesting feature for many who do not want a wearable to monitor their activity.

OnePlus 6 will be officially unveiled in China on May 17 by 10:00. It is said to feature a 6.28-inch display with a 19:9 aspect ratio (due to the notch) and a Full HD+ 1080p resolution. The internals will include an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, 6 or 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of internal storage depending on the variant. New Official Poster Focuses On The Rear of The Redmi S2

Xiaomi already released a poster confirming that the Redmi S2 will be launching on May 10. The poster shows the rear of the phone but there is a new one that gives us a much closer look.

The new poster shows a gold version of the phone unlike the first which has a pink variant. The phone has a split antenna line design which reminds us of the OPPO R11. Right under the upper antenna lines are dual rear cameras.

The rear cameras are arranged vertically and in the same design as that of the Mi MIX 2S and Mi 6X. The poster confirms one of the cameras is a 12MP sensor and there are AI features baked into the camera software.

The picture also shows the Redmi S2 has its fingerprint scanner on the rear and the volume rocker and power button on the left.

The phone will launch with a 5.99” 720 x 1440 display. It is powered by a Snapdragon 625 processor paired with up to 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. It will run MIUI 9 based on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box.

Vivo Y83 Mid-range Phone Appears on TENAA

Vivo has a new phone in the pipeline and it passed through China’s TENAA a few days ago. The phone which is called the Vivo Y83 is a mid-range phone that also has a notch in its display.

The Vivo Y83 has a 6.22” 720 x 1520 display. This is still HD+ resolution as other 720 x 1440 screens but the notch and extra screen flanking it gives it the bump in resolution.

There is 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage with support for storage expansion. The processor is an octa-core chipset clocked at 2.0GHz. The rear camera is a single 13MP sensor and the front-facing camera is an 8MP sensor.
