GREE is a famous consumer electronic manufacturer in China. The company entered the smartphone industry last year, like many other tech companies have done in recent times, however, the first generation smartphones didn’t get the attention the company would have expected. Now, GREE is back again, this time with a flagship with powerful hardware and good looks. While we would have expected the phone to be announced with much fan fare, the company decided to unveil it silently this year.
So, what does GREE 2 offer to the consumers? First of all, the phone will come with a metal unibody design. It is going to be large owing to the massive 6-inch display up front, and we can clearly see that it is not going to be an easy handset to operate with one hand. But for phablet lovers, the phone is going to be a treat, especially because it comes with a high-resolution 2K display. Coming to the front, the bezels seem to be decently thin, and no thick ugly black borders on the sides. There is a physical home button up front, just below the display which supports fingerprint recognition.
Specs of the GREE 2 are really powerful, starting with the quad-core Snapdragon 820 chipset under the hood. There will be 4GB of RAM on board and 64GB of internal storage. Given the large 6-inch display with 2K resolution, the phone will come with a decently large non-removable battery as well, of 4000mAh capacity. At the back, the phone features a 16MP rear camera sensor while up front, you will get an 8MP shooter. As for the software, the phone runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS out of the box.
Finally, for the pricing, GREE 2 isn’t very cheap. The phone will go on sale early June for a price tag of 3300 Yuan which comes to $504. Despite its higher price tag as compared to rival such as LeEco Max 2 and ZUK Z2 Pro flagships, we will have to wait and see how this new smartphone from GREE sells in China.
After Huawei Mate 8, this Chinese smartphone giant announced the brand new Huawei P9 series smartphones back in April. Almost a month later, the company released another flagship series model, this time in the Huawei Honor series, called as the Honor V8. These two are very similar models, with similar specs and similar design. But when it comes to the pricing of the two handsets, they differ quite significantly. Now, this brings us to the main question, why would Huawei release two different smartphones with similar design and specs in two different series? And why is there such significant difference in the pricing of the two handsets when they are so similar? We attempt to find answers in this article.
First let’s look at the design of both the handsets. Surprisingly, Huawei decided to use the same design as the Huawei P9 series on the new Honor V8 as well. While companies try to differentiate two different series with its own unique design, it looks like Huawei felt that both the phones should have the same design, which in my opinion looks pretty good. But if you had to differentiate between the two models, you would find the fingerprint sensor at the back to be slightly different. And of course, the logos are different, with the P9 coming with ‘Huawei’ branding while V8 coming with ‘Honor’ branding at the back.
Even the specs, including the dual camera setup at the back are similar. But there’s nearly a difference of 1000 Yuan ($153) between the models in the V8 and P9 series. So, why this difference in pricing?
The only major difference between the two models is the Leica certification on the Huawei P9 and its absence on the V8’s dual cameras. Let’s take a look at the setup in detail.
Huawei P9 vs Honor V8 Dual Cameras:
Huawei P9 comes with a 12MP dual camera setup with the components being developed to meet’s Leica’s strict standards. The company reportedly collaborated with Leica to co-engineer the structure of the camera module. Plus, the phone comes with Huawei’s digital image processing. Then there are Laser Autofocus and dual tone LED flash to assist the dual cameras in photography.
Coming to the Honor V8, even this particular device features 12MP dual camera setup. But Lecia was not involved in the development of V8’s dual camera module. But the basic idea remains the same as the P9’s setup. The phone features 1 RGB sensor which collects colour information and another black and white sensor. These two work together to take pictures. The module supports depth of field, laser autofocus and larger aperture ranging from f/0.95 to f/16.
As you can see, on paper, the V8’s dual cameras also looks like a powerful setup, but only when we have real camera samples from both the P9 and the V8 can we ascertain how better the P9 Leica branded camera is as compared to the V8’s setup.
Since we have seen that the major difference in the camera department was the Leica branding, let’s look at what specs both phones bring to the table.
On the other hand, the Huawei V8 comes with Kirin 950 (slightly under clocked) with 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, 5.7-inch 2K display and NFC. This particular model in the V8 series costs 2799 Yuan ($427).
Now, as you can clearly see in the above comparison, the P9 series with similar specs (in fact it comes with just 1080p display as compared to 2K on the V8) costs 1000 Yuan ($153) more than the Honor V8. Leica branding is what drives up the cost of the P9.
End of the day, what matters is whether the Huawei P9 takes better pictures and videos than the Honor V8. If it does, than the difference in the pricing is justified and I am sure, consumers would be more than happy to shell out more for an advanced camera module. We hope to get these two smartphones soon to see their camera performance.
So, what are your thoughts on the difference in the pricing of these two Huawei models?
Recently, we came across new information about OPPO’s Find 9 series. The phone was spotted on the benchmarking app, AnTuTu revealing some key information about the device. However, like always, AnTuTu only revealed some hardware specs of the device. Now, more information about the phone’s battery have been revealed.
It is said that the OPPO Find 9 will come with the company’s recently announced Super VOOC fast charging technology. So, a simple 15 minutes charging will get your phone to 100% which is highly impressive. But when OPPO demoed this feature at MWC, it was with a 2500mAh battery. Although the charging time will be so less, we don’t think customers would be happy with a small 2500mAh capacity battery on board a flagship model. So, it would be interesting to see how big of a battery OPPO fits inside its new device.
A couple of renders of the Find 9 were also revealed, which shows an unusually long physical home button just below the display. Considering its length, we can expect this to come with a fingerprint sensor.
As for the specs, the leak earlier today revealed a low-end version of the OPPO Find 9. This particular model, namely X9007, comes with Snapdragon 820 quad-core chipset with 3GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, 1080p display of unknown size, 16MP rear camera and a 4MP front camera. Considering these specs, we can expect a high-end version as well, possibility with 2K display and 4GB / 6GB RAM options.
Earlier rumours state that the phone will be released sometime in June this year, which is just a few weeks away. So, if true, we can expect more details about the phone pretty soon.
OnePlus 3 has been making the headlines for the past couple of days, and we have seen some clear renders of the device. Up till now, the renders revealed that OnePlus could be taking some inspiration from other smartphone makers like HTC and Meizu. But now, alleged official renders of the device have been spotted online, revealing a slightly different design.
It is said that the images that were spotted on an online games website, but were soon replaced. So, it looks like the website posted those pictures by mistake. The device in the new images look much better than the previous renders, and this time around it looks the device has taken inspiration from Sony. The phone features a solid rectangular design, which looks a lot like Sony’s Xperia range.
The new renders reveal a glossy metallic frame and a dedicated button which should be for the camera, in addition to the power button and volume buttons. What we can see further is an oval physical home button, similar to the ones we have seen on Meizu’s smartphones. The bezels seem to be super thin as well, but that’s usually the case with all renders, so better wait for some real life images. Unfortunately, these new images do not reveal the back of the device, so we can’t confirm whether it’s similar to HTC’s back.
Also, according to the latest information, the phone will have a 128GB storage variant as well. It is said that the phone will be announced on May 28 and will be released early June. The 4GB RAM version of the phone will reportedly go on sale for 1999 yuan ($308), while the 6GB RAM version is said to retail for 2499 Yuan ($382).
As for the specs, the OnePlus 3 is expected to come with Snapdragon 820 quad-core chipset, 5.5-inch Super AMOLED 1080p display, Android 6.0.1 and 3500mAh battery, possibly with OPPO’s low voltage fast charging technology. Read more about the phone’s specs from here.
So, what do you think of the alleged OnePlus 3 renders leaked today?

UHANS announced a new device recently that goes by the name of UHANS S1. While the company isn’t as famous as other Chinese manufacturers, UHANS has come up with a couple of good smartphones in the past. This is probably the best phone from the company yet, featuring a metal frame and a beautiful 2.5D glass design on both the front as well as the back. The simplistic design is probably why the phone looks so good.
The company is offering two colour options for the device, black body with a grey frame and white body and rose gold frame. In fact, it recently released unboxing pictures of the new device and the phone looks quite premium. You can check them out from down below.
To recap, the UHANS S1 comes with the MT6753 oct-core chipset with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. This is further expandable up to 64GB via MicroSD. The phone sports a 5-inch oncell display with 720p resolution. At the back, there will be a 13MP camera while up front, you get a 5MP shooter. As you can see in the pictures down below, the phone comes with a fingerprint sensor as well, located at the back of the device. Finally, for software, the phone runs on Freemee OS 6.1. The phone is available via various retailers for a price tag of $139.99.
OnePlus 3 is rumoured to release later this month, and naturally, there are a lot of rumours and leaks about the device coming up online everyday. Recently, we saw a couple of images of the OnePlus 3 online and now, a whole new batch of the same phone has been leaked, revealing the design in all its glory. Could this be the final version of the OnePlus 3? We can’t be sure of that, but let’s take a closer look at this design.
There’s no denying the fact that the phone has an HTC look to it. The top is similar to the design of the HTC M7 with the antenna lines placed almost in the same fashion as the old HTC flagship. The design isn’t the best we have seen, with a squarish camera sensor which protrudes from the body. The front has a different look to it and this time, it looks like the company has taken some design inspiration from Meizu. The oval physical home button is almost the same as the ones we have seen in the Meizu’s blue charm series. Considering that there is no fingerprint sensor at the back, we can expect the sensor to be embedded in the front placed home button.
The new leaked images also show off the bottom of the OnePlus 3. The phone will have all the slots down there, including 3.5mm headphone jack and USB Type-C. Also, we can see a speaker grill as well as microphone opening at the bottom. The top seems to be clean. Only one side of the phone has been revealed in the images, and there seems to be a toggle switch there. The volume and the power buttons should be located on the opposite side. From the looks of the device in these pictures, it seems to be an engineering prototype. So, despite multiple leaks with the same design, we can’t be sure this will be the final design of the OnePlus 3.
We have already seen the specs of the OnePlus 3 flagship in detail, thanks to the previous leaks. You can read more about them from here.

We have been patiently waiting for the new generation model in the OPPO’s popular Find series, however till now, we haven’t managed to get any concrete information about the device. Now, a new model called OPPO x9007 has just been spotted on the benchmarking app, AnTuTu, revealing some specs details about the device. Considering the model number, timing and the specs of the device, this looks like a lower-end version of the upcoming OPPO Find 9 series.
According to this listing, the OPPO X9007 model, said to be the upgraded version of the OPPO Find 9 — most likely OPPO Find 9, will come with Snapdragon 820 quad-core chipset inside. OPPO’s Find series are known to feature top-end specs, so Snapdragon 820 isn’t a surprise. Further,r the phone will come with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage. There’s no information about MicroSD expansion. There would be a 1080p display of unknown size as well. At the back, the phone features a 16MP camera while up front, you get a 4MP shooter. Finally, for software, the Find 9 model comes with Android 6.0.
Taking a look at these specs, this could be one of the variants of the Find 9 series. However, we can expect much powerful variants as well, which should upgrade a lot of things like RAM to 4GB or even 6GB, resolution to 2K and storage to 64GB or 128GB. This would make the new Find 9 model a worthy successor to the previous generation models.
As for the other specs, earlier rumours claim that the Find 9 will come with OPPO’s Super VOOC fast charging tech that charges a 2500mAh battery in just 15 minutes. Then there’s the company’s self developed smart sensor that brings image stabilisation at the sensor level. There are even rumours about a 4K display, but we can’t be sure of that. As for the pricing, it could go as high as $616. The release is rumoured to be in June, but there’s no confirmation yet.
Anyway, let’s wait for the top-end variants of the new OPPO Find series to crop up online. Only then we would be able to paint a clear picture of what the company has in store for us in the second half of this year.
We know that Xiaomi products are in demand in China and for that matter in other regions like India as well. Hence, whenever the company comes out with a new device, it becomes hard for fans to get hold of the device. We saw that purchasing a Xiaomi Mi 5 was hard in the early days of sale in China and looks like the newly announced Xiaomi Max is going to be no exception. The phone is said to have received over 8 million registrations for the first flash sale that is going to be held on May 17.
Given that we are going to see around 8 million users try to get the device on May 17, you would want to know the number of units to be made available for sale on that day. Unfortunately, it’s not much, and nothing compared to the demand. It is said that Xiaomi will make 100,000 units available for purchase on May 17, which means once again it’s going to be extremely hard for fans to purchase this device. Only the 32GB SD650 model will be available for sale next week.
So, why is the Xiaomi Max so popular? Well, it is the first large screen phablet from the company till date, coming with a massive 6.4-inch 1080p display. Plus, there’s a large 4850mAh battery as well, which reportedly provides very good battery life. Check out the battery life test from here. As for the other specs, the phone comes in three different versions, one powered by Snapdragon 650 and the other two by Snapdragon 652. At the back, there will be a 16MP rear camera while up front, a 5MP shooter.
As for the three versions, here are the details:

Finally, the SD652 top-end version comes with 4GB RAM and 128GB ROM and costs 1999 Yuan ($308).

Up front, there is an 85 degree wide angle 5MP camera. Other features include NFC, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Fingerprint ID and MIUI 8 based on Android 6.0. A few weeks back, LeEco (formerly known as LeTV) announced three new smartphones in its second generation Le family namely the Le 2, Le 2 Pro and the Le Max 2. Like most Chinese manufacturers, the company has used MediaTek chipsets to keep the price as low as possible on the first two models. The Le 2 comes with the Helio X20 chip while the slightly costlier model, the Le 2 Pro comes with a more powerful Helio X25 chipset. However, it looks like LeEco might have a Snapdragon powered variant as well for its fans, at least for the Le 2 budget model. The phone is said to come with an option of Snapdragon 652 inside. However, we are yet to receive an official confirmation from the company about such a version.
It was recently reported that the Le 2 model with Snapdragon 652 inside was listed and will soon go on sale. The phone was spotted with 32GB ROM inside and came in three colours, gold, silver and grey. Interestingly, the pricing was kept the same as the Helio X20 powered model, i.e. 1099 Yuan which comes to around $168.
This could easily make the Le 2, the cheapest Snapdragon 652 smartphone in the market. This is possible since this Chinese giant tends to resort to negative profit pricing for its phones. If you remember, the recently released Xiaomi Max phablet had a SD652 version, but that costs around $260. This would be way cheaper than that.
So, if LeEco did release a SD652 powered Le 2 model, would you choose that version or the one with Helio X20 inside?
Meizu released the Pro 6 flagship last month, just few months after the release of the earlier generation Pro 5. Considering the Meizu Pro 5 was one for the most powerful smartphones in the market last year, we expected the new generation model to feature high-end specs. However, the company released the new flagship with Helio X25 chipset inside, which although is a pretty decent chip, it’s less powerful than competitors like Snapdragon 820 and Exynos 8890. This helped the company to keep the price of the device down to $386.
But it looks like there’s a new device in the works that’s reportedly going to come with the mighty Exynos 8890 chip. This isn’t the first time we are hearing rumours about an Exynos 8890 powered Meizu smartphone, but this new rumour adds more information. The source adds that the new phone will come with curved display from Samsung. Once again, this isn’t the first time we are hearing about such a device, but this is the first time someone is claiming that both the devices are actually one and the same. So, basically, the upcoming Meizu smartphone will feature a curved display and Exynos 8890 which hints that the company is trying to target the high-end market.
So, what about the price? The source states that we can expect this phone’s price to be around 3000 Yuan. This comes to around $460 which is a little higher than the pricing of the top-end Meizu Pro 6 variant. If the curved Meizu device is really this cheap, then we may have a winner here. But it’s still too early to confirm any details. From the release point of view, expect the phone to be announced only in the second half of 2016. Maybe we will get to see this alongside the rumoured MX6 flagship.
We know that ZTE will soon release its new flagship in the Axon series, which according to the usual naming scheme should be called as the ZTE Axon 2. The company’s CEO has started to reveal a few details about the device recently like the presence of a new design and a high-resolution 2K display from Sharp. Now, the company has sent out invites for the phone’s launch event (we are invited as well) which will be held on May 26 in China. However, what’s really interesting about the invite is the name printed on it.
According to the invites sent out to the media, ZTE is actually going to release a new device that goes by the name of ZTE Axon 7. Now, this is really surprising given that the company’s Axon series is just a year old and logically it should be called as the Axon 2. So, why would the invite say Axon 7? At present, we have no clear answer. But it is likely that ZTE is going to skip the name Axon 2 and jump right on to Axon 7. This may be done to compete directly with the iPhone 7 series models releasing later this year.
The invite also reveals that the phone will come with good audio output. These were the words written on the invite (translated) “Listening to the heart of power”. From the picture leaked recently and the TENAA images, we know that the phone will come with front facing speakers. Also, we can expect Hi-Fi audio support as well.
As for the specs, thanks to the previous TENAA listing, we know the Axon 7 will come with Snapdragon 820 chipset under the hood with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of expandable storage. At the back, there will be a 20MP sensor, while up front, you get an 8MP shooter. There will be a 5.5-inch 2K display on board and the phone will run on Android 6.0.1.
Since the launch is just two weeks away, expect more details about this flagship in the coming days.
Sharp isn’t a well known brand when it comes to smartphones, but we have seen some impressive models from the company like the Aquos Crystal with a true edgeless display. Now, the company has announced a new generation model in the Aquos family which will be called as the Sharp Aquos Zeta SH-04H. Specifications of the new model have been listed on the company website, revealing powerful hardware especially the camera at the back.
According to the latest information, the Sharp Aquos Zeta will come with the Snapdragon 820 quad-core chipset under the hood with 3GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage. The storage comes with up to 200GB MicroSD card expansion slot. Given that display is one of Sharp’s speciality, the phone will come with a 5.3-inch IGZO high-definition full HD 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution LCD screen. The display features 2.5D glass on top and is protected by Gorilla Glass 4.
While these are capable specs, what’s really going to be the speciality of the new Aquos Zeta SH-04H is the camera at the back. The new model will come with a large 22.6MP sensor with Ricoh GR lens certification. This setup can focus in just 0.4 seconds and comes with f/1.9 aperture. It is GR certified by Ricoh Imaging which ensures high quality images. The camera can shoot 4K videos, 240 fps videos and even time lapse at 120 fps. Further, there’s OIS and real-time HDR as well. Up front, there is a 5MP camera with wide angle lens ideal for selfies.
What’s more, the new Zeta SH-04H will be will be waterproof and dust proof as well. Inside its 7.6mm body, the new Aquos Zeta model features a 3000mAh battery. The phone weighs just 155 grams. As for software, it will run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS. There will be Sharp’s new AI emopa 4.0 which adds more health oriented features. Finally, there will be a fingerprint sensor as well, located on the side just below the power button.
No word on the pricing or availability yet, but don’t expect it to be released outside of Japan. There will be three colour options, green, black and white.
Xiaomi announced the large screen phablet, Xiaomi Max a couple of days back. Apart from the super large 6.4-inch display, the company also highlighted the large battery on the smartphone. It is the biggest battery smartphone we have seen from the company yet and comes with a large 4850mAh capacity battery inside. This was necessary considering Xiaomi is marketing the large screen as ideal for entertainment and hence, it becomes necessary for the phone to last long even when watching videos or playing games.
While we still haven’t got hold of the new phablet from Xiaomi, a Chinese media website recently conducted a Xiaomi Max battery life test and the results are quite impressive. The Xiaomi Max only lost 4% of charge in one hour of video playback. Even while gaming and accessing social network websites for half an hour each, the phone lost just 3% charge under each activity. So, in total, the Xiaomi Max lost 10% after watching videos, playing games and browsing social network websites. That’s pretty impressive.
When it comes to the battery, discharging isn’t the only thing that we are concerned about. We also want to know how fast can it charge, given its large size. From the test conducted by the website, the results were disappointing. It took over 3 hours for the Xiaomi Max to charge from 0% to 100% which is clearly unacceptable. However, if you remember, the Max supports Quick Charge 3.0 charging specification, so if you can purchase a QC 3.0 compatible charger, you can fully charge this battery a lot sooner, probably in an hour. The stock charger supports just 5V 2A charging, which is too slow for its large size.
So, overall performance of the Xiaomi Max in the battery life test seems to be good. We will have to test out the device for a lot other factors like camera and performance, but that’s only after we get a unit for review.

We have reviewed quite a few Bluetooth speakers and this time around we are looking at Blitzwolf F1 – a speaker that costs $38, has a beautiful all-metal design and a lot of controls. Learn more in our full review.
The Bluetooth speaker comes with the USB cable, AUX cable, carrying string and some paperwork.
Blitzwolf F1 Bluetooth Speaker Review: DESIGN and FEATURES
The very first impressions once I took the speaker out of the box were that it had an outstanding build quality and great choice of materials (metal unibody design). Also, the speaker is very compact.
We have some speaker grills and underneath it we can find a pretty powerful package – dual 45mm drivers with a total volume output of 10w (2x5W). That is a lot of sound for a speaker this small.
What is great about this device is that we have a bunch of controls. The buttons are tactile and clicky.
The back side sports a similar design to match the front.
We have an AUX input and micro USB ports that are covered by a flap since the speaker is IPX5 certified, which means it is splash-, shock- and dust-proof.
On the bottom we have some silicone pads to prevent speaker from sliding.
Blitzwolf F1 Bluetooth Speaker Review: SOUND QUALITY and TEST NOTES
When it comes to the sound quality, we would rate the Blitzwolf F1 as one of the better sounding speakers in this price range. The sound has a good balance between mids and highs. Also, it has a reasonable amount of bass considering its size. Last but not least, the speaker can get really loud and it may actually surprise you that the device of this size can produce so much volume.
We have tested the speaker with the Samsung Galaxy S7 edge and we didn’t have any Bluetooth issues (it uses Bluetooth 4.0).
The battery life is one of the best in class. We were able to achieve around 10 hours of music playback and it is one of the best results we have ever seen in a speaker this small.
The hands-free calling feature is pretty good too but you have to make sure you lower the volume of the speaker. Otherwise, people on the other end will start hearing themselves.
Blitzwolf F1 Bluetooth Speaker Review: CONCLUSIONS
The Blitzwolf F1 Bluetooth speaker has great looks, tactile control buttons and very sturdy all-metal design.
Also, the speaker has a great sound quality, it has no issues with neither Bluetooth connectivity nor with the hands-free calling feature.
All in all, Blitzwolf F1 is a great Bluetooth speaker and it can be recommended for those who are looking for a great sounding yet compact device that looks good and it is IP44-certified. Sure, we have plenty of other options out there in this price range but you will make no mistake choosing the Blitzwolf F1.
