The Xiaomi Mi A1 smartphone was unveiled in 2017 and is still enjoying top-grade software support with its Android 13 upgrade. The smartphone debuted with Android 7 back in 2017 but will now enjoy software support for Android 13.

Indeed, the MI A1 has enjoyed multiple ROM upgrades and has been kept alive by support from the custom ROM community. The smartphone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 chipset. It had run previously on the Android 10-based Lineage OS 17.1. Some of the available Android 13 ROMs available in XDA Forums include Spark OS, PixelPlusUI, PixelExperience, and ArrowOS.

The Spark OS is based on AOSP and offers a wider array of customization options and features. It comes with the Pixel launcher and dialer. The PixelPlusUI is inspired by different Android skins in the market and is well-optimized. It comes with up-to-date security patches for enhanced safety. The PixelExperience has Gapps included together with wallpapers, icons, fonts, as well as launch and boot animation. It is stable and is based on AOSP. The ArrowOS is another ROM based on AOSP but is available without Gapps.

It is noted that users of the Xiaomi MI A1 who migrate to the custom ROM, may lose the advanced features of the camera app, VoLTE, FM Radio, and some other features. However, there are a few choices open to users and some of these could be perfect options. There are a few other ways to also overcome the features lost due to migrating to a customized ROM. For example, you can use Open Camera or Google Camera.

After nearly two months since we first saw it appear on Geekbench, the Xiaomi Mi A1 is now receiving a stable Android Pie update. The update comes just a few days after Xiaomi released a beta update for the device.

The update is about 1074MB in size and apart from bringing Android Pie, it also “brings” FM radio. Android Pie features the update brings include Adaptive battery and adaptive brightness, a new navigation system, digital wellbeing, and a new volume control menu.

According to the source, the update is arriving on devices in Bangladesh. If you haven’t received the update yet, expect it to hit your phone in the next couple of days.

Xiaomi Mi A1 is Xiaomi’s first Android One smartphone. It was released last year and is based on the Mi 5X which runs MIUI. It has a 5.5-inch FHD screen, a Snapdragon 625 processor, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. For optics, it has dual 12MP rear cameras and a 5MP front-facing camera. It also packs a 3,080mAh battery, a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner, a type-C port, and an audio jack.

Xiaomi wasn’t very quick in rolling out Android Oreo update for the stock Android-running Mi A1. That may not the case with the latest Android version as a Mi A1 model running Android 9.0 Pie has been spotted on GeekBench database. 

At this moment, the Mi Mix 2s is the only Xiaomi model that has got Android 9.0 Pie update but that is with Xiaomi’s custom MIUI 10. The latest Mi A2 which was launched only recently still runs on Android 8.0 Oreo. The benchmark score of the model is slightly higher than the running score of most of the models that have passed through GeekBench. It has a single core test score of 932 points and on the multicore test, it scores 4470 points. The new OS version could have played some roll in this. The model on GeekBench has 4GB of RAM but is still powered by a Snapdragon 625 chipset.

Android 9.0 Pie brings a number of features like full-screen gestures, new UI tweaked for full view display and much more. It also enables an optimized system with Adaptive battery feature which learns to save some power by learning from the user’s usage patterns. The camera will also get some optimization under Android Pie. Xiaomi is yet to release any official information about an impending update. It is likely to be a couple of months from now before a stable Android Pie ROM for the Mi A1 will roll out.

Xiaomi has resumed the roll-out of Android 8.1 Oreo for the Mi A1. The update first began rolling out a few weeks ago but had a bug that wiped away users’ SMS. This caused the update to be suspended.

The new update not only brings Android 8.1 Oreo but also comes with July’s security patch, unlike the first one that came with June’s security patch. The update comes in two sizes – 467.3MB for those who didn’t get the first update and 1152MB for those who received the first update with the SMS bug.

The update will roll out over the next few days to all users. So far, there has been no report of any bugs, so you can go ahead and install when you receive it.

If you own the Mi A1, there is a chance you have received a new update. Although Xiaomi only says the update brings June’s security patch, it also updates the device to Android 8.1 Oreo and comes with some serious bugs.

The update which weighs in at about 1.15GB is wiping SMS history for several users. It is reported to happen when you swipe away the messages app in the recent apps menu. It is advised that you back up your messages. The update is also said to cause SafetyNet, a Google security API to know if your device is in a known-good state, to fail.

Apart from these issues, everything else seems fine. The Android 8.1 Oreo update brings features like battery indicator for connected Bluetooth devices, an adaptive SystemUI theme that changes based on your wallpaper (dark wallpapers give black quick settings menu and bright wallpapers give a white quick settings menu), and new emojis to name a few. The update is also said to improve the audio quality of the device.

Users of XDA forum have come across a leaked ROM of Android 8.1 Oreo beta for Mi A1 which suggests that Xiaomi is gearing up to release the latest edition of Oreo for it.

The following screenshot released by the publication confirms that Mi A1 users at XDA forum have already installed the leaked Mi A1 Android 8.1 Oreo beta update. Since it is a beta update and that too a leaked one, installing it may cause the Mi A1 to encounter various kind of issues such as that stock camera won’t work. However, the publication claims that the Google Camera ports are working properly. Users who have installed the leaked ROM claim that the update does not include Treble and there are no adaptive icons onboard. Also, there is no logo for VoLTE even when it is working.

There are no major features included in Android 8.1 when compared to the Android 8.0 Oreo update. One new feature that is included in the leaked beta update for Mi A1 is the black theme for a dark wallpaper. The update also tags along security patch for May. The Mi A1 Android 8.1 Oreo beta update that has been leaked features the new Power menu.

The Xiaomi Mi 6X will be launching tomorrow. The Chinese manufacturer has already confirmed couple of features of the phone. It has recently stated the Mi 6X will be arriving with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. It has also shared some of its camera samples on Weibo and has revealed that the handset will be available in China in five color options. The rumor mill has also leaked information on its specs and features. Fresh photos of what appears to be the actual Mi 6X smartphone has appeared today.

The Xiaomi Mi 6X is expected to hit the Chinese market in colors like Cherry Pink, Red Flame, Sand Gold, Glacier Blue and Black. The official renders of the Gold model that has was shown by the company a week ago has a white front whereas the back panel sports the gold color. The same variant can be seen in the image below sitting besides the black variant.

The protective plastic layer that sits on the screen of the Mi 6X confirms that it has a 20-megapixel front-facing camera and it also includes a 20-megapixel sensor in its dual camera setup. It also reveals that AIE equipped Snapdragon 660 chipset will be powering the smartphone.

The above image that reveals the rear of the phone shows that it is a metal-bodied device.  The dual camera module with an LED flash at its center is placed at the top-left corner. The fingerprint scanner also resides on the rear. The u-shaped antenna bands can be seen on top and bottom edges of the phone.

The entire specifications of the Xiaomi Mi 6X have been already leaked through its TENAA listing. It is expected to arrive with 5.99-inch FHD+ 18:9 display, 12-megapixel + 20-megapixel dual camera setup and 2,910mAh battery. The handset was recently spotted on Android.com which revealed that it will be also available in 32 GB storage option.

Leaked information that had surfaced yesterday had revealed the pricing of Xiaomi Mi 5X’s successor. It revealed that variants like 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage and 6 GB RAM + 64 GB storage would be selling in China with respective pricing of 1,799 Yuan (~$285) and 1,999 Yuan (~$317).

Xiaomi CEO has recently confirmed that the company will be also releasing Mi A2 Android One soon. It will be arriving as a successor for the Xiaomi’s first Android One phone – the Mi A1 that was introduced in September last year. The Mi A2 is likely to be the very same Mi 6X phone without the MIUI skin.

The Xiaomi Mi A1, the first Android One phone from the Chinese manufacturer is not available for buying on Mi.com and Flipkart. Hence, the rumor mill has started speculating that the company might have discontinued the Mi A1 and it could be prepping up to launch the Mi A2 as its successor phone. A Xiaomi representative has confirmed that the Mi A1 is not discontinued and the company will soon begin selling it once again. However, the spokesperson did not reveal the exact timeframe of the return of the smartphone.

The Xiaomi Mi A1 was launched in India in September 2017. It is a re-branded version of the Xiaomi Mi 5X that was exclusively made available in China in July last year. The Mi A1 runs on stock version of Android Oreo and does not feature the MIUI 9 skin that is found on the Mi 5X. It was launched with a pricing of Rs. 14,999 (~$228) in India and its price was permanently slashed to Rs. 13,999 (~$213) in December.

Xiaomi will be launching the Xiaomi Mi 6X smartphone on April 25. It is speculated that like the Mi 5X, the Mi 6X will be not available outside of China. However, the same phone running on stock version of Android could be sold in overseas market as Xiaomi Mi A2.

The Xiaomi Mi A2 and Redmi Y2 monikers was spotted in the source code of the Indian edition of Xiaomi’s website. This suggest that the company may introduce the Mi A2 few weeks after the launch of Mi 6X.

Texts such as “Mi A2 Hard Case”, “Redmi Y2 Perforated Case Black” and “Redmi Y2 Perforated Case Blue” has been spotted in the source code of Xiaomi’s site. As of this writing, they are no longer available on the website as they have been removed. However, the tipster was able to capture the following screenshots.

The Xiaomi Mi A2 could be an Android One phone like its predecessor. It is likely to arrive with same specs that are available on Mi 6X. Hence, it is rumored to arrive with a 5.99-inch IPS LCD screen that supports FHD+ resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. It is expected to be available in 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage and 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage variants. For photography, it may feature a dual camera module that may include a 12-megapixel sensor and a 20-megapixel sensor. For shooting selfies, it may house the same 20-megapixel front-facing camera that is available on the Redmi Note 5 Pro that was launched in February in India. The release of the kernel source code is good news for those developers willing to create custom ROMs based on Android Oreo for the phone. The source code is available on GitHub.

The Mi A1 is Xiaomi’s first Android One Phone. It is actually the same phone as the Mi 5X but with stock android instead of MIUI. The phone has received positive reviews since its launch and is one of the most recommended phones in the $200 category.

The Xiaomi Mi A1 has a 5.5” FHD display, a Snapdragon 625 processor and 4GB of RAM. It is available in 32GB and 64GB variants with expandable storage.

In September 2017, Xiaomi had launched the Mi 5X smartphone exclusively in China. The very same handset was made available internationally as Mi A1, the first Android One phone from Xiaomi. Rumors are rife that the company has already started working on Mi 6X. Previous leaks have already revealed what sort of design it will be arriving with. Just like Mi A1, the Mi 6X is pegged to launch internationally as Mi A2. Designers at Tech Configurations have created a concept model of the Mi A2 based on the rumors surrounding it.

The Xiaomi Mi A2 concept model can be seen sporting a full screen design. The side bezels are thin, and the upper and lower bezels are thinner than Mi A1. The upper bezel features a 20-megapixel selfie camera that is coupled with an LED flash. It is equipped with f/2.2 aperture and Smart Beauty 4.0 like the Redmi Note 5 Pro for snapping enhanced selfie shots with AI.

The antenna bands are located on the upper and bottom edges of the rear panel. The fingerprint scanner is also residing on the backside of the Mi A1 concept. The vertically arranged dual camera sensors are separated by an LED flash. It features a 12-megapixel sensor and 5-megapixel sensor. It is enabled with features like f/2.2 aperture lens, PDAF and OIS. The 6-inch display of the Mi A2 concept phone supports FHD+ resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio.

The Mi A2 concept model suggests that the actual device will be either powered by Surge S2, the upcoming in-house chipset from Xiaomi or the Snapdragon 636 that has been introduced through the Redmi Note 5 Pro. The 32 GB and 64 GB storage models of the Mi A2 concept phone respectively feature 4 GB and 6 GB of RAM.

The bottom side of the phone features a 3.5mm audio jack, USB-C and an external speaker. The concept model has three color variants such as Silver, Red and Black.

As of this writing, there is no concrete information available on the launch date and pricing of Mi 6X (A2).

A few days ago, Xiaomi announced it had completed the Mi A1 Android Oreo roll-out. The update which had been suspended twice due to bugs was finally getting a third roll-out.

Not only was it bringing Android Oreo, it also included January’s security patch, and fixes for the bugs from the last two versions. Sadly, this update also comes with its own bugs including a battery drain that affects a lot of folks.

In our post covering the update, a number of people complained about a battery drain that began after the update. There is also a poll on c.mi.com where nearly 83% of those who took the poll complained of the battery drain.

It is sad to see that Xiaomi can’t seem to get things right with its Mi A1 Oreo update. After three attempts, one would think things would be properly done but unfortunately, that isn’t the case.

Some other users have also reported that the device hangs, restarts while calling, and has heating issues.

We all love it when manufacturers are quick to release updates for devices, but when they come filled with bugs, its a different story entirely. Xiaomi has been trying to get the Android One Mi A1 updated to Oreo but anytime it does there seems to be an issue.

The stable Oreo update first began rolling out on New Year’s eve after being in beta. A few weeks later it was stopped due to bugs. Last week, the roll-out resumed only for a moderator on the official Xiaomi forum to announce yesterday that the roll-out has been stopped again due to bugs.

The moderator says the update will resume in a few days. However, we suggest you wait till some users have installed it before doing so if you haven’t updated it before. This is to save you from ending up with a buggy and unusable device.

The Mi A1 is an Android One version of the Mi 5X which is billed to get a successor soon. It runs a pure version of Android and ditches Xiaomi’s MIUI. However, it still comes with some few Xiaomi Apps such as Mi Remote.

The Android 8.0 Oreo update that was rolled out on Dec. 31 for Xiaomi Mi A1 users had to be stopped abruptly on Jan. 12 as users started complaining about various issues like battery drain, random reboots, freezing of the dialer app, HD SIM notification and malfunctioning of ambient display notifications. Xiaomi has released a new edition of Android 8.0 Oreo update for Mi A1 users that will reportedly resolve all the problems associated with the original Oreo update.

As it can be seen in the below screenshots, the Android 8.0 Oreo update also brings along the January 2018 security update. The original update featured the security update for December 2017.

Mi A1 users who had installed the original Oreo update are reportedly receiving an update that has a size of only 89 MB. As mentioned above, the update promises to fix all the problems that resulted from the first Oreo update. Users who did not install the original Oreo update and are still running on Android Nougat are reportedly getting Android Oreo update that has a size of 1,112.4 MB.

The Android One Xiaomi Mi A1 has started to receive a stable update that brings Android Oreo to the phone. The announcement was made yesterday via the official Xiaomi Twitter account.

According to the tweet, to receive the update you have to make sure that you are already running the latest December update which is version 7.12.19. Even at that, the update which is 1107.4MB in size and comes with December’s security patch will be rolling out in batches.

The Xiaomi Mi A1 is actually the same device as the Mi 5X but runs Vanilla Android instead of MIUI. So for those who own the MI 5X and have actually ported the ROM of the Mi A1 to their phone, this update should also work for you. As at the time of writing, the ROM isn’t yet on the MIUI site, so you may have to check later.

The Mi A1 packs a 5.5” 1920 x 1080 display, 4GB of RAM, and 64GB of storage. It is powered by the Snapdragon 625 mobile platform.

Apart from the fact that it runs Pure Android, another highlight of the phone is its dual 12MP rear cameras – the same as the ones on the Mi 6. There is also a 5MP camera in front for selfies.

The rest of the specs include a 3080mAh battery, a USB-C port, a 3.5mm audio jack, and a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner.

The Mi 5X was launched internationally as the Android One Mi A1. While the former runs MIUI, the Mi A1 runs pure Android. Since Mi A1 is an Android One device, it is scheduled to get Android 8.0 Oreo before any other Xiaomi phone.

Xiaomi has begun recruiting beta testers for Android 8.0 for the Mi A1. The deadline for the recruitment is December 11 at 11:59 PM Beijing time.

Interested participants can join the program via the MIUI Global Forum app. Basic information as well as the phone’s IMEI number will be requested. You will also be required to have a QQ account for communicating with other members when selected. However, mode of communication will be English.

While the recruitment is open to all parts of the world, only active members on the global forum will be selected.

Preview images of Android O running on a Mi A1 unit shows the update will come with December’s security patch. There is no mention yet as to when the beta build will begin rolling out to selected individuals, but we hope the stable release still makes it to devices this year.

Last week, Xiaomi released a teaser hinting at its entry into Spain. Today, the Chinese manufacturer held an event in Madrid unveiling an online store, lots of products and partnerships with local retailers.

One of the first products that will be available to Mi fans in Spain is the Android One phone, the Mi A1. When Xiaomi announced the phone in India months ago, it said it would be available in a total of 37 countries. Of the 37 countries, 10 of them are in Europe. However, Spain was not originally among them.

The Mi A1 brings all the features of the Xiaomi Mi 5X but swaps out the MIUI ROM for Pure Android. And because it is an Android One phone, it will get updated to Android Oreo before other Xiaomi phones. The Oreo update is said to arrive before the end of 2017. The Mi A1 will sell for €229 and will come with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage.

Spain will also get the Mi MIX 2 flagship phone. The 18:9 display-toting Mi MIX 2 will sell for €500 for the 6GB RAM + 64GB RAM variant. Other phones that will also be available in Spain include the Mi 6, Mi Max 2, Redmi 4A, Redmi 4X, Redmi Note 4, Redmi Note 5A, and Redmi Note 5A Prine

Xiaomi also announced that some of its Mi ecosystem products will be sold in Spain. The Mi Electric Scooter will sell for €349.99 but for a limited time it will go for €299.99. The Android-powered Mi Box is priced at €75 and the Yi 4K action camera has a €135 price tag. The Mi Band 2 will also be available for purchase in Spain.

The official Mi.com online store and retail partners like Amazon Spain and AliExpress will begin sales tomorrow, November 8 at 1 PM local time. Authorized Mi Stores at Xanadu and La Vaguada will begin sales on 11th of November, while Phone House, Media Markt, and Garrefour will begin sales on the 22nd of November.

The Redmi Note 5A with 16 GB storage will be available with an impressive pricing of $99. Xiaomi will be providing 1,250 units of the phablet at such a low price during the upcoming sale. Its 32 GB variant will be available for $136.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 and Redmi 4X

The Chinese manufacturer will be offering 4,000 units of Redmi Note 4 with a discounted price tag of $136.99. Its usual pricing is $171.24. The phablet will be available in 3 GB and 4 GB RAM options. The 32 GB Redmi 4X will be available for $116. Xiaomi will be selling 1,120 units of Redmi 4X on Nov. 11.

Xiaomi Notebook Air 13.3

Xiaomi Notebook Air 13.3 will be available for $799 after a discount of $200. The company will be providing only 1,000 units for $799 on 11/11.

Xiaomi Mi Band 2

The $9 discount on Mi Band 2 will allow users to purchase it for $20.99.  The Chinese firm will be giving away 5,400 units of Mi Band 2 at discounted price.

All the aforementioned smartphones are global version devices. The company is also offering attractive price cuts on Mi Box 3 and Mijia Mini Action Camera.

The Mi A1 is Xiaomi’s first Android One phone, which is actually the Mi 5X but with pure Android. If you own the Mi 5X and want to experience pure android, there is a ported ROM of the Mi A1 available for download. What if you own the Redmi Note 4/Note 4X? There is also a ROM for you.

XDA senior developer, GLokin666 has ported the ROM of the Mi A1 to the Redmi Note 4/4X. The ROM is based on version 7.9.21 of the Mi A1 and is sort of an alpha/beta build as some features such as the fingerprint scanner and infrared scanner are not working. There are also some camera features missing.  However other features work well and Gapps come pre-installed. It also comes with September’s security patch and supports for multi-language.

Xiaomi joined the launched its first smartphone for the Android One program, the Mi A1, a few months ago. The new smartphone is actually the Mi 5X, released this year as well but with pure Android on-board.

The Mi A1 was first released in India and then Malaysia. Unlike other Android One phones released in the past that are limited to certain regions only, the Mi A1 will be available in 37 countries with a bunch of them in Asia Pacific, Europe, Middle East, Africa, and the Americas.

If you live in the Netherlands, Poland, and Greece, you can now order the Mi A1. Retail price however varies in all three countries. It sells for €260 in the Netherlands but is higher in Greece with a €284 price tag. Poland has it for PLN 1,300 (~€302).

It will be available in Spain for €228 but not until next week. That is the same time it is expected to go on sale in Hungary and Russia though at higher prices (HUF 75,000/€240 and RUB 19,000/€280 respectively).

The Mi A1 will land in Bulgaria on the 12th of October for BGN 550 (€280) and will start shipping in Italy on the 15th for €228. Alza in Czech Republic will sell it for CZK 6499 (~€251). Belarus is said to have it for BYR 599 (~€259) VAT included and Slovakia for €219.

Last week, Xiaomi announced its first Android One phone, the Mi A1. The phone is actually a rebranded Mi 5X. Once people realized that, the question of if it was possible to port its ROM to the Mi 5X popped up.

We also saw a different set asking if it’s possible to port the MIUI ROM of the Mi 5X to the Mi A1. While we don’t have an answer yet for this second group, we are happy to announce that Mi 5X owners can install a stable Mi A1 ROM on their device.

The gratitude goes to a developer named heliOus who ported the ROM. He has confirmed that all the features work and there are no issues.

To install the ROM, you have to unlock your bootloader first, then flash TWRP and download the ROM to your internal storage. The rest is easy from there. The file size is 1.2GB and installation instructions and the download link are available in the source link.

The advantage the Mi A1 has is that it runs Pure Android similar to what you will find on a Google Pixel. The only difference is that it comes with some few MIUI apps. It will also get an update to Android Oreo by the end of the year. If you know Xiaomi, you already know an Oreo update won’t come that early for MIUI.

The Mi 5X is priced at ¥1499 Yuan (~$230) for the 4GB RAM + 64GB model, this is the same configuration as the Mi A1. There is also a 4GB RAM + 32GB ROM variant of the Mi 5X that sells for ¥1299 (~$199). We have not seen anyone complain about the port not working on the 32GB variant, so owners of that variant may try it too.

The Xiaomi Mi A1 was unveiled yesterday as a product that was born with the collaboration of Google and Xiaomi. The Chinese firm had introduced the budget-friendly Xiaomi Mi 5X with stellar dual rear cameras in July. During a launch event that happened yesterday in India, Xiaomi unveiled the same smartphone as Xiaomi Mi A1. It is an Android One smartphone that carries the same specs as Mi 5X, but delivers a stock Android experience. A new video of the Mi A1 has been released to advertise its features.

The above video takes users inside a hall that appears like a museum. The Xiaomi Mi A1 can be seen kept inside for exhibition. Then, different features of the smartphone such as its premium design and amazing dual rear cameras are introduced. The video intends to show that the Mi A1 will deliver pure Android experience as shows the various folders placed on the Homescreen.

Above the usual apps for phone, messages, Gmail, Chrome browser and camera, there is a line features a folder containing apps from Google and there is another folder that contains apps from Xiaomi such as Mi Store, Mi Community and Mi Remote. This shows that the Mi A1 that runs on Android 7.1 Nougat contains some Xiaomi MIUI apps including the MIUI camera app. At the end of the video, the three color variants of the smartphone such as Black, Rose Gold and Gold can be seen.

OPPO and Vivo smartphones are achieving impressive offline sales and they are mainly advertised as camera phones. The Xiaomi Mi A1 will be available go on sale in India on Sept. 12 on Mi.com and Flipkart. It will be also available through the different Mi Home stores across the country. Xiaomi has also partnered with several offline retailers such as Univercell, Croma, Poorvika and more. It will be available with a price tag of Rs. 14,999 (~$235).

The Xiaomi Mi A1 has a 5.5-inch IPS LCD display that produces full HD resolution. It is powered by Snapdragon 625 chipset and 4 GB of RAM. The native storage of the smartphone is 64 GB. It also features a microSD card. As it is an Android One phone, there is no MIUI skin for the Android 7.1 Nougat OS. It has a 3,080mAh battery with fast charging support. It has a selfie camera of 8-megapixel. The USP of the Mi A1 is the dual rear camera system that includes a 12-megapixel wide-angle lens and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens with 2x optical zoom.
