To recall, the brand had originally started rolling out the HyperOS 3 update globally for these premium devices at the end of October.

Xiaomi even pushed a global OTA update for the HyperOS 3 upgrade last month. But only just recently, the company had teased its Android 16 OS based custom UI in the Indian market as “Coming Soon“. So here’s everything you can expect from this update:

Vivo has also fully embraced silicon-carbon battery tech across its X200 lineup. The X200 Pro packs a 6000mAh battery with 90W wired and 30W wireless charging, while the standard X200 ships with a 5800mAh cell. Xiaomi’s silicon-carbon implementation is more subtle but no less impressive. The Xiaomi 15 features a 5240mAh battery packed into a body just 8.08mm thick. It supports 90W wired and 50W wireless charging with Xiaomi’s Surge P3 and G1 chips managing heat and power delivery.

The iQOO 13 brings a bigger screen that’s brighter, crisper, and more responsive. Plus, it boasts a higher IP68/69 rating, ensuring better protection against dust and water. It’s also got a bigger battery with 120W super-fast charging.

Vivo X200 FE, which we discussed above, is a great alternative to the OnePlus 13s for the same price. But if you are willing to go a little higher, the Vivo X200 can be a great option. It features a larger, brighter AMOLED screen that supports Ultra HDR and delivers better IP-rated protection. However, it skips LTPO support.

The difference being higher peak brightness on the Vivo phone, but at 3200nits, the Xiaomi 15 offers great visibility outdoors. Plus, the latter offers a wider range of colors and Dolby Vision support.

The Xiaomi 15 has a more robust camera setup, featuring a higher resolution ultrawide camera and support for 8K video recording (versus 4K on the X200 FE). Another perk is its newer USB technology, which enables much faster data transfer. It’s a compelling choice for sure, but not the only showstopper in this price range. We’ve found five great alternatives to the Oppo Find X8 that outshines the device in one or more ways.

The OnePlus 13 (long-term review) has a slightly bigger screen at 6.82 inches (versus 6.59 inches). It also boasts a higher resolution and features LTPO 4.1 technology that enables dynamic refresh rate for better battery efficiency. The compact flagship space in India has been buzzing. Xiaomi’s 15 arrived in March, delivering top-tier hardware in a sleek, pocket-friendly form. OnePlus has now countered with the OnePlus 13s, which launched earlier this week, promising similar performance at a more aggressive price, along with its own hardware upgrades and signature design elements.

Both phones rely on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite chip and sharp 1.5K OLED displays. Beyond that, though, their approaches start to diverge. We have taken a close look at the specs, features, and overall value of each device to help you decide which one might suit you best.

Design and Build

Xiaomi has refined its compact flagship formula with the Xiaomi 15. It measures 152.3mm tall and 71.2mm wide, with a thickness of just 8.08mm and a light 181g body. The aluminum frame is flat and sharp-edged, but the rounded corners and narrow profile make it very comfortable for one-handed use. OnePlus just unveiled the 13T, its first attempt at a compact flagship. Even with a smaller footprint, the 13T doesn’t cut back on core hardware. It brings the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, a battery well over 6000mAh, and a capable dual-camera setup.

On the other side, Xiaomi has its own take on the compact flagship formula with the Xiaomi 15. Both phones are targeting users who want smaller devices without giving up on high-end specs. Here’s a closer look at how the two stack up.

Design and Build

The OnePlus 13T measures 150.8 x 71.7 x 8.2 mm and weighs 185 grams. It uses a glass front with an aluminum alloy frame, protected by what OnePlus calls Crystal Shield Glass. The phone is rated IP65 for basic protection against dust and water. 

The Xiaomi 15 is slightly bigger and heavier at 152.3 x 71.2 mm and between 189 and 192 grams, depending on the version. Xiaomi uses its own Xiaomi Shield Glass over the screen and a 6M42-grade aluminum frame. It carries a better IP68 rating, making it water resistant for up to 1.5 meters. 

Displays

Both phones have LTPO AMOLED panels with 120Hz refresh rates and Dolby Vision support. The OnePlus 13T’s display measures 6.32 inches, hits 1600 nits in high brightness mode, and offers a resolution of 1216 x 2640 pixels.

The Xiaomi 15 slightly stretches to 6.36 inches, keeps a comparable 1200 x 2670 resolution, and claims a much higher peak brightness at 3200 nits. It also handles a broader 68 billion color palette compared to OnePlus’ 1 billion colors.

Unless you’re pixel-peeping under direct sunlight, these differences won’t always matter. But if you do a lot of outdoor browsing or just want a screen that’s less likely to wash out, the Xiaomi 15 looks a little better prepared.

Performance

Both devices run on the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. The silicon includes an octa-core CPU (2×4.32 GHz performance cores and 6×3.53 GHz efficiency cores) paired with the Adreno 830 GPU.

Storage and RAM options are identical too. The 256GB or 512GB storage is configured with either 12GB or 16GB of RAM. And there’s a 1TB variant with 16GB of RAM. Neither phone supports microSD expansion.

In day-to-day use, they will feel very similar. Gaming, multitasking, app launching all should happen quickly and smoothly. 

Your preference might come down to software. OnePlus 13T ships with Android 15 running OxygenOS 15 internationally and ColorOS 15 in China. Xiaomi 15 also starts with Android 15 but uses its in-house HyperOS 2 skin. Xiaomi commits to four major Android upgrades, though OnePlus hasn’t specified an exact policy for the 13T yet.

Both skins have diverged from Google’s clean Android vision in their own ways. It comes down to personal preference which one you prefer now.

Cameras

As for the cameras, the OnePlus 13T uses a dual rear camera setup: a 50MP main sensor and a 50MP telephoto with 2x optical zoom. It covers the basics and supports 4K video recording with Dolby Vision HDR.

The Xiaomi 15, meanwhile, offers a triple-camera system including a 50MP main sensor (larger at 1/1.31″), a 50MP telephoto (with 2.6x optical zoom), and a 50MP ultrawide lens. It has Leica branding, laser autofocus, and supports video recording up to 8K, along with multiple HDR formats.

Selfie shooters are different, too. The OnePlus 13T uses a 16MP camera capable of recording 1080p video. Xiaomi fits a 32MP sensor that records up to 4K. All in all, Xiaomi has better camera hardware. 

Audio

Both phones ditch the 3.5mm headphone jack, but otherwise take audio seriously. The OnePlus 13T offers stereo speakers and supports aptX HD and LHDC 5 over Bluetooth.

Xiaomi 15 also has stereo speakers and matches those codecs but adds Qualcomm XPAN and 24-bit/192kHz audio playback (both wired and wireless). It leans more toward high-res audio if you have the right equipment.

Connectivity

Again, the differences are subtle. Both devices support Wi-Fi 7, NFC, Bluetooth 5.4 or newer (Xiaomi even hints at 6.0 compatibility), and full dual-frequency GNSS support for location services. Both have an infrared port as well.

However, Xiaomi uses a USB Type-C 3.2 Gen2 port with DisplayPort support. OnePlus 13T, on the other hand, has an older USB Type-C 2.0 spec.

Battery and Charging

Fueling the OnePlus 13T is a 6260mAh battery that supports 80W wired charging. In comparison, Xiaomi 15 has a smaller 5240mAh cell globally and 5400mAh in China. But it makes up for it with 90W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and 10W reverse wireless.

Final Thoughts

Both the OnePlus 13T and Xiaomi 15 are compact flagships with Snapdragon 8 Elite power, bright LTPO AMOLED displays, and large batteries. But the Xiaomi 15 pushes a little harder in key areas like camera versatility, water resistance, charging flexibility, and audio features.

Xiaomi has officially announced the global launch of its flagship Xiaomi 15 series for March 2, 2025, at MWC Barcelona. The lineup features the standard Xiaomi 15 and the camera-centric Xiaomi 15 Ultra.

As per previous reports, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra boasts a 200MP periscope telephoto lens with 4.3x optical zoom and a 1-inch Sony LYT-900 primary sensor, promising significant improvements in low-light and zoom photography. CEO Lei Jun has previewed sample images highlighting the Ultra’s night photography capabilities.

The global version will have a smaller 5,410mAh battery compared to the rumored 6,000mAh Chinese variant, though it retains 90W wired and 80W wireless charging. Other key specs include a 6.73-inch 2K LTPO AMOLED display (1–120Hz), Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, and IP68/69 rating. The quad-camera system comprises a 50MP ultrawide, 50MP 3x telephoto, and Leica-tuned imaging. Global models offer 16GB RAM with 512GB/1TB storage and black, white, and silver color options.

According to reliable leaker billbil_kun (via Dealabs), the Xiaomi 15 with 512GB of storage will reportedly be priced at €1,099 in Europe. That’s notably close to the Xiaomi 14 series, which is a bit unexpected—especially given the price hikes the Xiaomi 15 and 15 Pro saw in China. 

If accurate, this could be good news for global buyers. The leak also suggests that, like last year, a 1TB storage option of Xiaomi 15 may not be available outside China.

As for the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, the 512GB variant is rumored to carry a €1,499 price tag in Europe. Again, this aligns with its predecessor’s launch price.

What to expect

The Xiaomi 15 boasts an improved 5400mAh battery while surprisingly reducing the phone’s weight by 2g. Xiaomi launched its new flagships towards the end of last year in its home country. However, the models are yet to make their way to the global market. Now, thanks to a new leak, we finally have some information about the base model: the storage, RAM, color options, and the launch timeframe.

Xiaomi 15 global variant’s RAM, storage, and color options revealed

As per leaker Sudhanshu (via XpertPick), Xiaomi 15 will be launched globally during the upcoming MWC 2025 event, scheduled for 3 Mar, 2025 – Thu, 6 Mar, 2025. The phone is expected to come in two configurations: 12GB + 256GB and 12GB + 512 GB. In comparison, the phone is available in two more configurations in the home country: 16GB RAM + 512GB and 16GB RAM + 1TB.

There will be three color options to choose from: Green, Black, and White. Surprisingly, these are the same color options Xiaomi sold the predecessor with. In China, the phone is available in different color options such as Lilac Purple and Light Grass Green. While some difference between the Chinese and global models is expected, it’s unlikely for the company to choose the same color options as last year’s models. So take this part of the leak with a pinch of salt.

Moving on, the rest of the internal specifications such as the chipset, battery, and camera sensors are likely to remain the same as the Chinese variant. To recall, the one released in China packs the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip, three 50MP cameras – 1/1.31″ main (with OIS) + 3X telephoto (with OIS) + 14mm ultrawide – a 5400mAh battery which supports 90W wired and 50W wireless fast charging.

While the camera system is very similar to that of its predecessor, Xiaomi has achieved significant improvement in imaging and video performance through improvements in image processing. So anyone using the Xiaomi 14 series or an older model will notice an improvement here.

As for the UI experience, the phone comes with HyperOS 2.0 out-of-the-box, which is based on Android 15. According to a recent report from Dealabs, European pricing is expected to remain the same as its last year.

According to known tipster Abhishek Yadav, the Chinese tech giant is apparently planning on releasing the Xiaomi 15 series or Redmi 14 5G in the Indian market in February. For those unaware, the Xiaomi 15 series consists of the Xiaomi 15 and Xiaomi 15 Pro. Recent rumors have also revealed that the company is working on a Xiaomi 15 Ultra as well as a Xiaomi 15S Pro model.

Notably, the company did unveil the Xiaomi 14 and Xiaomi 14 Ultra variants in India but skipped the Xiaomi 14 Pro. Xiaomi released in the region back in March 2024. So the Xiaomi 15 series could be arriving in the Indian market a month earlier than its predecessor. Unlike these higher end devices, the other device that could launch in India is a budget friendly smartphone from the brand’s subsidiary Redmi.

The Redmi 14 5G is the other model that was talked about in Abhishek’s tweet. As the name suggests, the Redmi 14 5G is a successor of the Redmi 13 5G, which was released in mid-2024.
