Xiaomi is preparing to unveil a new smart home appliance from its MIJIA brand in China soon. The new product in question is the MIJIA Cross Refrigerator 518L, which will be launched at the end of this month.

The company shared the details on Weibo (a Chinese microblogging website). Interestingly, the launch date for the MIJIA product falls on the same date as the Redmi K70 series announcement.

The MIJIA Cross Refrigerator model adopts a sleek design and is built to fit seamlessly into your kitchen cabinetry. Its panels are oil resistant, with the door hinge enabling the doors to open at a 90 degree angle. Thanks to its smart connectivity feature, users can monitor the temperature and cycle through various modes. It even has a controllable HD color display for smart controls.

On the inside, the fridge comes with a compartmentalized design to separate the fresh and frozen sections. Xiaomi has launched a new product called the Mijia Smart Fish Tank, which is a smart aquarium that supports remote feeding and can go for half a year without requiring a water change. The Mijia Smart Fish Tank is a 20-liter aquarium that is equipped with a 5-fold professional-grade back filter system and comes with a remote automatic feeder.

The Mijia Smart Fish Tank has a 16:9 widescreen ratio design and is made using an integrated process. It features a 91.3% ultra-high light transmittance Jinjing five-line ultra-clear UHA grade glass that can restore the underwater natural ecology. The aquarium is equipped with 24 high-resolution LED white light beads and 16 full-color gamut RGB light beads that provide a color rendering brightness close to sunlight and the ecological effect of changing sunlight.

The Mijia Smart Fish Tank is powered by a 5-fold professional-grade sub-chamber module back filter system, which includes a self-cleaning patented anti-clogging water pump. Back in August 2019, Xiaomi debuted the MIJIA LCD Blackboard for the first time in China. Since then, the brand has launched the slate in a couple of different sizes. Till now, the brand only manufactured the slates to produce a single color while writing on them.

However, the brand has now kicked off the crowdfunding campaign for the Xiaomi MIJIA LCD Small Blackboard Color Edition. As the name suggests, the slate is capable of producing multiple colors, thanks to a custom-made color liquid crystal panel. The blackboard is available in two sizes: 10-inch and 13-inch.

It allows for pressure-sensitive writing, with the thickness of the handwriting changing as the force is applied. There is a sensing area above the screen that can be used to easily clear the blackboard. The screen has no backlight, and natural light reflection is used to present handwriting.

According to the company, the screen is blue-light-free, so children and people of all ages can use it for extended periods of time. Furthermore, the board only consumes energy when the content on it is erased.

The latest light accessory from Xiaomi is officially called Xiaomi MIJIA Ambient Light Strip. It is priced at ¥299 ($47) for a limited and is already up for sale. It measures 2m in length but can be extended up to 5m by investing in more.

The light strip can be linked with Xiaomi’s MIJIA smart home system. it is compatible with RAZER CHROMA RGB as well as ASUS AURA SYNC. It also has native support for select Xiaomi TVs (aka Mi TVs) sold in China.

Additionally, the controller features a built-in microphone to sync with the audio. In other words, the new MIJIA RGB light strip is well-suited for all types of entertainment, in addition to furnishing your home.

The company says that the RGB light offers over 100 color combinations to choose from 16 million colors. Users can customize as per their needs from the official app.

Finally, since it is a smart light, the Xiaomi MIJIA Ambient Light Strip supports OTA software updates. Hence, the firm may deliver new features and bug fixes in the future if quired.

Xiaomi yesterday released its Mi Home Smoke Stove Set S1 that includes the Mijia Cross-border Range Hood S1 and Mijia Gas Stove S1 4500W. The former is an advanced chimney while the latter is a smart stove.

The set supports operations using nothing but air gestures. These gestures let you perform all sorts of actions including turning the machine off with a simple wave of the hands, without the need for touching the devices themselves.

The set is equipped with dual infrared sensors that accurately track a user’s movements. The Range Hood S1 chimney can be powered on by a right swipe, its power can be adjusted by swiping right further, and swiping left turns it off.

The chimney is fairly wide at 900mm and covers both of the stoves, making it capable of capturing all of the smoke being produced by cooking. Its built-in motor has a maximum speed of 1010RPM and the diameter of its rotor stands at 256mm. It produces a suction force of 21m3/min.

As for the Mijia gas stove, it can output at 4500W and has high thermal efficiency. Its temperature can be adjusted from the usual 180°, all the way up to 230°.

The stove and the chimney from the Mi Home (Mijia) Smoke Stove Set S1 work automatically in harmony, with the chimney turning on automatically as soon as it detects smoke. Its suction power too is dynamic and follows the temperature the stove has been set at.

The set will be launching Friday at a retail price of around 2598 Yuan (~$403).

Xiaomi has launched the MIJIA Photo Printer 1S in China. The printer is similar in design to the earlier launched MIJIA Photo Printer from 2019 but has few upgraded features. It is priced at 599 yuan($91.21) and is available on Xiaomi’s official website in the country.

Xiaomi MIJIA Photo Printer 1S is a must-have printer at difficult times like these. It can print photos in different sizes, ID Photos, and do it remotely as well. Xiaomi says it can easily connect to a mobile phone, get HD photos printed in just 1minute(1minute means it takes 1 min to print each photo).

MIJIA Photo Printer 1S- Design, Specifications

Xiaomi says(via ITHome) the MIJIA Photo Printer 1S has an innovative integrated magnetic design. It comes in a white color variant. The front has the MIJIA logo and the paper tray compartment with a maximum capacity of 20 sheets. Top has Power and hotspot buttons. On the side, a small compartment opens where you need to insert the ribbon. Xiaomi recommends using 20 sheets of paper at a time for 6-inch and 10 sheets for 3-inch size.

As for specs, it supports papers of two sizes- 6-inch, and 3-inch. Operating at 24V and 1.6A rated, the printer has Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n. Overall it weighs 1.4kg including the peripherals and measures 194×124.6×83.6mm. In the box, you get 1xPrinter 1S, 1xcarton, 1xPower adapter, 1x ribbon, 10 sheets of 6-inch and 3-inch Photo papers each, 1×3-inch paper tray.

The printer can print photos in two sizes- 3-inch, and 6-inch. The 6-inch photo has a size of 100x148mm while the 3-inch photo’s size is 86x102mm. Additionally, the printer can also print ID photos using the MIJIA App. That said, Xiaomi recommends using MIJIA App to print at least 3-inch photos as other apps might have inconsistencies. Additionally, the printer also has a ribbon to print the images and Xiaomi says one ribbon is enough for printing 20 sheets.

That said, talking about the photo quality Xiaomi says the images are of HD quality and delicate to the eyes. As per the company, the images are from professional dye sublimation printing technology where each color dot has a rendering capacity of 256 levels. The printer does this by having a resolution of up to 300 dpi, 16.7 million colors, wider color gamut with 1280 print heating heads.

Another highlight of the printer is that it automatically applies a transparent protective film while printing. This makes the images waterproof, resistant to dust, fingerprint smudges etc. Hence, photos can last longer without any yellowish tint over the years.

Smart App connectivity

The smart printer also supports connectivity with Mobile phones, tablets, and Computer. You can use WeChat or MIJIA App(v5.5.0) to directly print photos. It also supports remote printing wherein you can be anywhere while selecting photos over the app and the printer at home will print it for you.  The printer also has a hotspot and when turned on, the mobile phone can easily connect to it and print photos even without the App.

As mentioned users can use the MIJIA App to print ID photos. It has preset templates of commonly used ID photos like Japan, the U.S, and E.U Visas. The MIJIA App also has editing features like eight filters, rotation, cropping. 

The E-Printer also has affordability options like the 6-inch photo paper is compatible with Xiaomi MIJIA Photo Printer and Photo Printer 1S. However, 3-inch adhesive photo paper is only compatible with this 1S printer and not any others like Mi Pocket Photo Printer and MIJIA Photo Printer.

Xiaomi recently launched a new Automatic Smart Door Lock with a fingerprint sensor in China. Today, it’s official Smart Life Weibo account has shared a poster of a new Smart Door Lock Pro. And looks like it has front cameras.

The Poster on Weibo(via MyDrivers) reads Xiaomi Smart Door Lock Pro new product will debut on November 4(Translated). In the poster, you can see two camera sensors on the front side of the lock. Besides, these are probably a couple of camera sensors to recognize the face and enable authentication. However, the render shows only a portion of the lock. And hence, we can’t figure out the position and its accessibility just yet. Also, the poster has a slogan,” the front lock is not in place, one step is in place”(Google Translated).

This suggests non-contact authentication and further strengthens the Facial Recognition feature hint on the new Xiaomi Smart Door Lock Pro. The conference looks like an annual event where the company is expected to unveil its latest Mi branded product. The difference between this launch event and the launch of the MIJIA crowdfunding products seems to be the fact that the product will bear the “Mi” branding and will be a smart home product.

Last year, the company launched the MIJIA brand which encompasses all Mi Ecosystem smart home products. The company later went on to launch the Mi IH Rice cooker under the MIJIA brand. The rice cooker comes in an all white design with a simple, yet appealing design and a stainless interior. The cooker users an interactive LED display panel which displays a variety of information when in use. Also, the new IH rice cooker uses a honeycomb inner cover and a new design for the air circulation and cooling system. One important feature of the IH Rice Cooker is the use of remote control through an app that can be installed on smartphones to control the cooker. Apart from the Rice cooker, there have been several other smart products.

One of the poster teasers released by Xiaomi seems to point in the direction of the product being a light technology. We can’t say what sort of light technology the product is going to be but whatever it is, the Mi Home products usually have Internet of Things (IoT) features and we expect this one not to be different.

The Xiaomi MIJIA brand is coasting at a rapid rate with an almost daily release of one product and in some cases two. While it launched its 72nd product, an air mask for kids today, Xiaomi also teases the launch of another product via the crowdfunding platform. The teased launch event is for the launch of the MIJIA brand’s 73rd product.

The new product is scheduled to be announced on March 30 at 10 AM and from the teaser, it is likely a heart rate or blood pressure monitor. In other words, we may just be looking at another fitness product but one specifically for monitoring the heart rate or blood pressure. Recall that the Xiaomi Mi Band and Mi Band 2 came with heart rate monitoring function among other but this isn’t likely another smart band. The details of the product are still not known at this moment but we look forward to its launch to know more.

Xiaomi yesterday posted a poster on Weibo which announces an upcoming launch event under its crowdfunding platform. From the look of things, the phone is related to an earlier product which was launched last month, talking about the Turok Steinhardt sunglasses.

From the content of the poster, the product would be launched on Thursday, March 23 at 10 AM. Even though the upcoming product’s name is usually not included on the launch invite, the posters usually contain a tip or two which would give us an idea of what the upcoming product is. In this case, the product is likely an optical product considering the presence of a refractive glass prism on the poster.

We really don’t think this would be another sunglasses but it could be an optical product for other purposes. A glass prism separates light into its seven component colors of Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, blue, indigo and violet using their different refractive indexes. This theory comes in useful in a polaroid system, so may be this could be a polaroid sunglasses. A polaroid sunglasses help reduce glare from a long, flat surface such as the hood of the car or the road’s surface, water surface or any surface with a reflective property.

We are keen on this being a sunglass because the Mi app Weibo post was re-posted by the Turok Steinhardt TS official Weibo page showing it is a product which they have vested interest. Well, perhaps. Xiaomi‘s fortunes have seen a rough tumble recently with the company failing to make the cut into the top three Chinese brands in recent years. Since the establishment of the innovative tech company in 2010, the Chinese brand has gone on to create astonishing records, garnering awards along the way. But now, the picture being painted is that of a struggling company.

Well, if you think Xiaomi is struggling financially,  just like fellow Chinese tech giant LeEco who is neck deep in troubled waters, you may need to think again. In addition to the smartphone division which is its main preoccupation, Xiaomi also ventures into other lucrative businesses especially smart gadgets. The company has an ecological chain or Mi ecosystem where it partners with notable manufacturers in China who rides on Xiaomi’s wave of popularity, and financial prowess to get innovative gadgets out in the market. Xiaomi provides the finance for research and also ensures the products meet its standard in design and quality.

Xiaomi’s CEO Lei Jun recently disclosed the sales and revenue data from the sub-brand for 2016 and the figures were astonishing. According to records made available, Xiaomi has so far invested in 77 ecological chain companies, of which 30 released products during this period. This is aside Xiaomi’s core products like smartphones, MIUI software and others which form the core of the company. It was revealed that expected revenue from the Xiaomi smart products exceeded 15 billion Yuan in 2016.

A recent document revealed 28 of the companies which are under the Mijia partnership as well as their products and even the date of entry. The list contains names of tech companies based in Beijing and other Chinese cities, some formed as far back as 2013 while others are new entrants coming in last year, such as Viomi with its Filter Kettle L1 released last year. Huami is one brand that had a successful run under the Mijia platform, releasing the Mi Band and Band 2 before the company went solo with its own Amazfit brand. The Mijia products range from smart home gadgets like the robot vacuum cleaner, rice cooker to smartphone accessories and even non-connected products like the Mi Pen launched last year and many others. Even some of the products listed are yet to be launched.

As Xiaomi drives towards achieving its lofty goal of 100 billion yuan in revenue this year, the Mijia sub-brand holds the ace and this year could see a lot more products launching under the platform. It is starting to look like a daily affair, Xiaomi is gearing up to release its 68th product on the crowdfunding Mijia platform. This is coming on the heels of the launch of the 399 Yuan ($58) Scishare coffee machine. The company has released a new poster which teases the launch of what would likely be a sports shoe line.

The launch will take place on March 9 at 10.00am and as usual, we have to use our intuition to deduce what the likely product is. The poster just contained the teaser “Air at the bottom” which suggests a pair of running shoes or sneakers which would likely be similar to the Nike Air Jordan lineup of sports shoes.

Since Xiaomi does not directly manufacture the products, this sports shoes seems to be from the stables of 90 Minutes. The company re-posted Xiaomi’s teaser of the launch event, even adding some insight into the upcoming product. Unfortunately, they too failed to reveal the identity of the product in clear terms. There is no doubt, though, that it is likely a pair of sports shoes. We’ll get to know the full details on March 9 at 10am.

Meizu has created a new Meizu Smart Home products page on Weibo where the company seems set to start adding other smart gadgets to its lucrative smartphone line.

Already several products are listed on the Weibo page including the Meizu band, MX6 smart protective case, Meizu EPX headphones, Floating speaker with floating display and others. The company doesn’t seem to have all of the products in single sales platform like Xiaomi’s Mi home, rather a click on some of the product links takes you to third party websites like Jingdong. The Gravity Floating speaker with floating display, for instance, is a Meizu-backed crowdfunded project on Indiegogo. The project is already closed but the product is now up for purchase and that is where the link directs users to. Others are available on Meizu’s official website where they have the Meizu mall.

Some of the products are almost replicas of what Xiaomi had done in the past like the Meizu smart toothbrush, Meizu projector, and the Meizu air purifier. Perhaps Meizu is adopting a similar business model like Xiaomi is doing through its Mijia brand. The success of the Mijia brand has been monumental since Xiaomi fused all smart home products to launch under the brand. The Mijia brand posted its sales projection for 2016 towards the end of the year and the figures were dazzling. Could we be seeing Meizu toe similar line this year? Let’s wait and see

The sub-brand has continued to grow bigger and bigger by the day and recent revelations by Xiaomi’s CEO indicate the company has this outgoing year amassed a large amount of revenue from sales of products under the Mijia sub-brand.

The China Mobile Global Partner conference was held recently and during the conference Lei Jun was reported to have disclosed the sales and revenue data from the sub-brand. According to records made available, Xiaomi has so far invested in 77 ecological chain company of which 30 released products during this period. This is aside Xiaomi’s core products like smartphones, MIUI software and others which form the core of the company.

It was revealed that expected revenue from the Xiaomi smart products are expected to run into billions of dollars. A breakdown statistical data shows the Xiaomi Power bank is expected with a total sales figure of 55 million units, the Xiaomi Mi band – 23 million, the Mi Air Purifier – 1 million pieces, Mi headset – 18 million, the Xiaomi keyboard – 5.5 million and the Small Ant camera – 3.3 million pieces.

It is also worthy of note that one of Xiaomi’s ecological chain partner, Huami technology Co., recently announced a total shipment of more than 16 million units of smart wearables totaling up to 1.5 Billion yuan in revenue, a huge rise in revenue. It is also speculated that Xiaomi will in the near future release more smart product like air-condition system, smart refridgerator, smart curtains, all already in the pipeline.

Xiaomi is not just a smartphone manufacturer. In the six years of its existence, the company has evolved from a startup Chinese smartphone maker to a brand whose products are spread around in almost every smart home segment. A couple of years back, Xiaomi started investing heavily in subsidiary brands for various smart home products such as Mi Purifier, Mi Powerbank, Smart Shoes etc, and in a short span of time, the company grew into one of the biggest tech names in China.

However, out of the numerous products launched by Xiaomi, only a handful are actually manufactured by them. In fact, a majority of the Xiaomi Mi branded products in the market are made by third party companies, many of whom have seen major investments from the company. However, with the increase in the smart home products manufactured by third party companies, it became necessary for Xiaomi to differentiate the products that it manufactures on its own from the ones that are made by others. This is why the company finally unveiled the new brand, MIJIA, which will encompass all the major smart home products that come under the Mi branding.

In case you are wondering, MIJIA literally means Xiaomi Smart Home in Chinese. The logo is a shield and the company wants to portray a sense of reliability from the brand image. Apart from Xiaomi smartphones, Mi TVs and Mi Routers, rest of the products will fall under the MIJIA brand.

To give you some figures, Xiaomi has invested in over 55 startups till now and 29 of them were incubated by the company. Further, two of these startups can boast of a revenue of over 1 billion Yuan.

These are really some impressive figures. Xiaomi tells us that the company’s aim has always been to rebuild the image of “Made in China” and it has managed to achieve this through its MIJIA Mi Ecosystem.

After announcing the MIJIA brand, the company launched its first product under the new name, namely the MIJIA Rice Cooker. The company invited a renowned engineer from Japan to build this cooker since Japanese are experts in this technology. This induction heating pressure rice cooker comes with a total of 2450 different heating methods. To make things super easy, you can scan the QR code on your rice package and a corresponding heating method will be used by the cooker. What’s more, you have a dedicated Mijia Rice Cooker App to even adjust the softness of the rice being cooked. All this for $154 (999 Yuan in China). The cooker will go on sale on April 6 in China on the Mi.com website.

Things are really looking good for Xiaomi, with the new MIJIA brand and the existing Mi brand growing strong.
