After months of anticipation, the Redmi K60 Ultra was finally launched in China on August 14. The phone went on sale on August 16, and Redmi announced that the K60 Ultra sold more than 220000 units in just 5 minutes! This is a new record for phone sales in the 4,000 yuan price segment on JD.com/Tmall in 2023.
Redmi K60 Ultra Sales Record
Lu Weibing, President of Xiaomi Group, celebrated the Redmi K60 Ultra’s sales record on Weibo, “From 2599, who dares to fight!” The sales numbers are impressive, with 220,000 units sold in just 5 minutes! This means that almost 733 units were sold every second, or 44000 units were sold every minute. The K60 Ultra starts at 12GB+256GB for 2,599 yuan, which considering the specs is very cost-effective.
As Redmi’s most powerful flagship phone, the K60 Ultra is powered by the Dimensity 9200+, with an AnTuTu score of over 1.77 million points. The K60 Ultra also has a versatile camera system, with a main camera that uses a 50MP Sony IMX800 sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide unit, and a 2MP macro snapper.
Likewise, the phone has a 5000mAh battery, supports 120W fast charging, and is IP68 dustproof and waterproof. On the front, you get a 6.67-inch centered punch-hole OLED display with a 1.5K resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. The screen has a 2,880Hz PWM frequency and a 2,600 nits peak brightness level. The Cadillac Optiq, soon to debut in China, has a story of its own. It shadows its sibling, the Lyriq, but flaunts a unique persona. These fresh photos, courtesy of China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, show the Optiq in its powerful dual-motor AWD variant, the latest addition to the Ultium electric SUV lineup.
The Optiq is powered by a 143-kw front motor and 68-kw rear motor
At first glance, the Optiq might look identical to its single-motor RWD sibling. But dig a little deeper, and its character emerges. The new front grille with its diamond-cut triangular pattern and distinct lighting signature sets it apart from the crowd, especially the Sport trim painted in an eye-catching blue.
Size-wise, the Optiq is slightly more compact than the Lyriq, but that doesn’t mean it lacks punch. Powered by a 143-kW (192-hp) front motor and a 68-kW (91-hp) rear motor, it matches the Buick Electra E5 Avenir in output, revealing a shared technology under the GM umbrella.
What truly makes the Optiq fascinating is its strategic unveiling in China before potentially entering the US market. The collaboration between SAIC-GM and carefully filed patents hints at a broader strategy, positioning the Optiq not just as a product but as a symbol of innovation and adaptability.
In a market crowded with electric SUVs, the Optiq doesn’t just mirror its siblings; it offers a fresh voice. It’s not only about horsepower and wheelbase but also about creating a distinctive identity within a family.
As covered before, Netflix is entering a new level of gaming experience for its members, with a step towards making games accessible on every platform where its members are enjoying content – from TVs to computers and mobile devices. Starting today, a limited beta test will be rolled out in Canada and the UK, featuring two games: Oxenfree and Molehew’s Mining Adventure.
Windows and Mac Users can use their keyboards and mice to play games
Netflix is introducing a mobile phone as a controller for playing games on TV, transforming a daily-use item into an interactive gaming tool. For those using PCs and Macs, traditional keyboard and mouse controls will suffice.
The games will be operational on a variety of devices, including Amazon Fire TV, Chromecast with Google TV, LG TVs, and Samsung Smart TVs, among others. More devices will be included in the list, showing Netflix’s intention to make gaming a better experience for its members.
The limited beta aims to not only test the game streaming technology and the innovative controller but to enhance the member experience progressively. Though the company acknowledges that they’re in the early stages of this gaming journey, the excitement is palpable. This initiative reaffirms Netflix’s commitment to cater to diverse interests, turning casual viewers into gamers.
It’s not just about watching movies anymore; it’s about engaging in interactive experiences, bringing joy to members in new ways, and offering more reasons to stay connected with the platform.
The year 2023 has ushered in a tidal wave of opportunities in the generative AI industry. With job openings quadrupling since the beginning of the year, this surge represents more than just an increase in demand; it reflects a seismic shift in the technology landscape.
Multiple platforms are starting to implement AI, increasing demands for relevant roles
Leading tech giants like Amazon, Netflix, Meta, and even unconventional players like the dating site Hinge, are competing in a fierce battle for AI expertise. Salaries in the seven-figure range are no longer a rarity. Netflix’s whopping $900,000 offer for an artificial intelligence product manager position exemplifies this trend, as does Capital One’s list of top salaries for generative AI engineers.
While these figures are eye-popping, they reveal a critical shortage of skilled personnel in the field. They also highlight a determined push to innovate and excel in areas that were previously untapped. Walmart‘s hunt for a senior manager for its conversational AI platform stands as evidence of this broader application of AI technology.
These enormous salaries are not just numbers; they symbolize the value and urgency that the industry places on advancing this cutting-edge technology. They invite aspiring professionals to join the AI revolution and challenge current experts to push the boundaries.
Elon Musk seems to have pissed off some more people by apparently slowing down links to specific websites on the platform formerly known as Twitter, now referred to as X. Users have reported a consistent 5-second delay in loading certain high-profile sites, including The New York Times, Mastodon, Bluesky, Threads, and Substack.
Big tech billionaires fulfilling personal vendettas through a global platform seems quite dystopian
This isn’t just a random glitch. The delay appears to be targeted at websites that Musk has previously been at odds with. Musk’s sharp criticisms and public attacks against these companies have been in the public eye, and this recent action seems to further that vendetta. For this to be a coincidence would be a far reach.
What’s puzzling is that there’s no clear explanation for this delay, aside from Musk’s personal issues with these platforms. New York Times and Substack have expressed concern over the deliberate delay, viewing it as a hostile act against them. Substack founders went on to criticize the action, reflecting on the unreliability of social media companies. The technicalities behind this delay remain unclear, and the move raises significant questions about the ethics of power over digital platforms. It paints a picture of an unpredictable online landscape where large corporations can manipulate user experience to settle personal scores.
The silence from X adds another layer to this development. It might lead one to wonder: in an age where social media platforms hold immense influence, should there be more accountability for those who control them? The answer may not be straightforward, but this situation serves as a stark reminder of complex power struggles.
Taiwanese electronics giant, Foxconn, renowned for being a key manufacturer of Apple products, has issued a cautionary note about the global electronics market. Foxconn announced a robust net income of NT$33 billion ($1 billion) in its recent report, surpassing the projected NT$25.93 billion average estimate. Despite this, the company’s operating profit fell short of expectations. Notably, Foxconn confronted a 14% revenue dip, marking its first decline since late 2021.
Formerly optimistic about stable revenue for the year, Foxconn now predicts a substantial decline in sales. The company, officially known as Hon Hai Precision Industry, attributes this revision to weakening demand for personal devices and electronics, indicating a larger trend in the industry.
This warning echoes concerns expressed by major tech players like Apple, Qualcomm, and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. who have anticipated a prolonged downturn in the electronics sector post-pandemic. The economic slump has prompted both consumers and corporations to defer spending on electronics, affecting companies like Foxconn. The company’s decision to revise its sales projections reflects the challenges posed by this cautious market sentiment.
However, Apple, a primary customer of Foxconn, remains unfazed. Although hinting at its most extended sales decline in decades due to weakened demand for gadgets globally, Apple has commissioned approximately 85 million units of the iPhone 15 from suppliers. This move aims to stabilize shipments despite economic uncertainties and an anticipated dip in the overall smartphone market. The tech giant is even considering raising prices for its Pro models, potentially counteracting the market’s challenges and bolstering revenue.
With its main business segments facing contraction, Foxconn’s revised outlook raises apprehensions about the demand for its products, which are predominantly manufactured for global tech giants such as Apple. As the company navigates the uncertainties of a shifting market, industry observers are closely watching the ramifications on the broader electronics landscape.

Oppo Enco M33 specs & availability
In China, the Oppo Enco M33 is available for 249 yuan, which is roughly equivalent to $35. It comes in two color choices: Obsidian Black and Cangling Green.
Specs-wise, the Enco M33 comes up to 45dB active noise cancellation. The earbuds promise Hi-Fi level sound quality, though it is worth noting that they don’t have Hi-Res Audio-certification or feature support for codecs like LDAC. That being said, the earbuds feature large 12.4mm dynamic drivers.

Some time back, Amazon was reported to be testing out the AI review summary feature. The company is finally taking customer experience to the next level with the official launch of its AI-generated review highlights feature. Targeted initially at a subset of mobile shoppers in the U.S., this feature sums up user reviews, extracting the essential points to guide potential buyers in their decisions.
There is concern regarding AI’s ability to differentiate between real and fake reviews
The AI-driven technology addresses a major pain point for online shoppers – sifting through countless reviews to gauge the product’s suitability. With hundreds of opinions on any given product, time-poor consumers can now tap into summarized insights that outline key attributes like “ease of use.”
The innovative feature is expected to expand to more categories and customers soon. However, it raises a question regarding artificial intelligence‘s ability to discern between authentic and fake reviews, an ongoing issue with the platform. Amazon’s assurance of investing resources to fight counterfeit reviews seems promising, but only time will tell how effectively this can be implemented.
Amazon’s new feature is an impressive step towards streamlined online shopping. By focusing on verified purchases, Amazon aims to offer a quicker way for shoppers to absorb community opinions, thereby making informed choices more efficiently. Whether it’s a win for consumer empowerment or just another technological novelty, only the future can confirm. But it’s a sign that technology is continuously evolving to cater to modern consumer needs, offering tailored, intelligent solutions for everyday problems.
In a world where technology competition is fierce, Google‘s latest ad for the Pixel showcases a friendly rivalry with the iPhone. Through a narrative of the Woman’s World Cup soccer tournament, the ad illustrates the power of unity, even among competitors.
This enables a company to keep advertising while maintaining a good public persona
While the ad (which has a Pixel 7 Pro and a cased iPhone 14 Pro Max) hilariously highlights features like the Pixel’s ability to translate messages into over 20 languages, there’s more to it than just selling smartphones. It’s a nod to a globalized tech landscape, stating that despite technological differences, common ground can be found.
The debate between “Soccer” and “Football” reflects not only the differences in terms used globally but also the diverse and versatile audience both companies cater to. This lighthearted banter serves as a metaphor for the more significant ongoing rivalry between two tech giants, while still promoting a message of unity. It’s actually sweet, but at the end of the day – it’s just good advertising.
The tech industry’s constant evolution and competition often lead to a sense of divisiveness. However, this ad reminds us that even in this competitive space, there is room for mutual respect. The subtle humor might also indicate that these companies are keen to understand and communicate with a broader global audience.
Google’s new Pixel ad is more than a cute marketing ploy; it’s a reminder that even in an industry driven by innovation and rivalry, there are universal languages that unite us all, such as the global love for sports. It’s a lesson in connectivity that goes beyond mere product features and resonates with a larger audience. The friendship sticks through, just like real best friends (we hope).

Without mentioning the name of the device, the tipster claimed that one of the possible Redmi Note 13 series phones will come equipped with a 200-megapixel Samsung HP3 primary camera, which will be joined by a Sony IMX355 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens and an OmniVision OV2B10 2-megapixel macro / depth camera. The tipster said that the device will feature an OmniVision OV16A1Q 16-megapixel front-facing camera.

He added that the device is powered by a MediaTek chip. He even went as far as to claim that it could be the same chip that powers the recently announced Redmi K60 Ultra. For those who don’t know, the K60 Ultra features the Dimensity 9200 Plus, which is as powerful as or even slightly better than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. He added that the device will be released on the global market.
The inclusion of a 200-megapixel camera makes it an ideal candidate to be considered as a successor to the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ or the Redmi Note 12 Discovery Edition. Redmi has recently launched the K60 Ultra with D9200+ and is unlikely to launch another phone with the same chip. Hence, it appears that the mysterious Note 13 series could be equipped with a different MediaTek chip. It is advisable to wait for further reports to know its final marketing name.
Recent reports have revealed that the Oppo phone with the PHT110 model number, which has been detected on Chinese certification platforms, is rumored to be the upcoming Oppo Find N3 Flip. In a new leak, tipster Panda is Bald has revealed its launch date and design.
According to the tipster, the OPPO Find N3 Flip will debut on Aug. 29 in China. It has been speculated that devices like the Find N3, Pad Air 2, and Watch 4 series will also debut alongside the Find N3 Flip. However, the tipster has also claimed that the Find N3 will launch separately in September. It is therefore unclear which other products will launch with the Find N3 Flip. Below is the image that the tipster shared.
OPPO Find N3 Flip design leak
As can be seen, the leaked poster is in line with recently leaked images of the Find N3 Flip. The cover display looks almost identical to the one available on the Find N2 Flip. The redesigned circular camera module now houses three cameras instead of the two cameras that were seen on the N2 Flip.
The tipster claimed that the Find N3 Flip will arrive with upgrades, such as 67W fast charging and a 2x portrait lens, which seems to be a 32-megapixel camera. If other reports are to be believed, the N3 Flip will have the Dimensity 9200 chipset and a 4,800mAh battery. The other specs of the device could be identical to the predecessor model.

Honor is reportedly working on multiple foldable phones. The company recently launched the Honor Magic V2 with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip. In the coming year, it is expected to launch the Magic Flip, which will be Honor’s first vertically foldable smartphone. However, with a couple of months remaining in this year, the brand may announce as many as two more foldable phones, such as the Honor Magic V Slim and the Honor Magic V2 Lite.
Honor Magic V2 Lite: What to expect?
Honor Magic V2
Before Honor unveiled the Honor Magic V2, there were rumors that the company might announce the device in two chipset variants. However, Honor only unveiled the Magic V2 with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip last month. The rumored Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 variant was not announced.
It appears that the V2’s SD8G+1 variant does exist, as a Chinese tipster has revealed the existence of the Magic V2 Lite. He has also said that the device will feature the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1. The other specifications of the device are not known yet. The “Lite” mentioned in the moniker of the device suggests that the device will be positioned below the Magic V2.
The tipster has hinted that the device will carry a cheaper price tag. The Magic V2 has a starting price of 8,999 Yuan (~$1,235). There is a possibility that the Magic V2 Lite could be priced at around 5,000 Yuan, making it one of the most affordable horizontally foldable phones in the Chinese market. Another reliable tipster, Teme, has confirmed its existence by calling it the Magic V2 Youth Edition, which is nothing but the Magic V2 Lite.
As far as the Magic V2 Slim is concerned, it is said to be a foldable phone with an outward folding design. The device is expected to debut in October this year in China. In all likelihood, the brand will announce one of these products along with the Magic V2 for the global market through its IFA 2023 keynote on Sept. 1.
