Chinese phone manufacturer OnePlus today hinted that it would be cutting the tapes soon to unveil three of its latest experience stores in India. The event which would take place on July 28 at 11 AM will hold simultaneously in Bangalore, Mumbai and Kolkata. As a way of giving back to its fans, OnePlus will dole out gifts ranging from a OnePlus 6 phone, Marvel Avengers Iron Man case for the OP6 and branded t-shirts to the first 100 customers.

In order to be eligible for the draw where these prizes would be won, fans must register online. In addition, students will be offered the chance to win Back-to-School kit when they make purchases. Xiaomi finally ended all speculations and rumours surrounding the Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite with the launch of the duo in an event held in Spain. The popularity of the Mi A2 is traceable to the successful run of the Mi A1 which came out as Xiaomi’s first and only phone running stock Android. Xiaomi Mi A2 has now joined that train and along with it comes a new Mi A2 Lite.

When the dust generated by the launch finally settles, the next question would be the availability of both models. The Chinese company did not leave us in doubt as to the global availability of the models. According to details released by the firm, the Mi A2 will be available in 39 different countries cutting across six different regions of the world while the Mi A2 Lite will only be available in 36 different countries. The three countries where the Mi A2 Lite won’t be available are in the Asia Pacific and they include India, Taiwan and Hong Kong.

In the Asia Pacific, the Mi A2 will b available in Bangladesh, Hong Kong, India, Vietnam, Thailand, Taiwan, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Pakistan, Indonesia and a couple of other countries. The model will also be available in the following countries in Europe; Spain, France, Italy, Poland Bulgaria, Belarus, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Turkey among others. Both models will also be available in The Middle East and Africa in Egypt, Bahrain, Israel, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and UAE. While in the Americas, only Colombia and Mexico will get the models. Meizu will be announcing its Meizu 16 and Meizu 16 Plus flagship smartphones on Aug. 8. The Meizu 16 duo have recently bagged 3C certification and now both the phones have appeared on TENAA. The TENAA listings of both phones also include some information on their dimensions, display and battery size.

The Meizu M882Q and M892Q handsets that have surfaced on TENAA is the Meizu 16 whereas the Meizu 16 Plus smartphones. As it can be seen in the TENAA images, the rear design of the Meizu 16 and 16 Plus are quite similar to the Meizu 15 phone that was unveiled earlier this year. Both the handsets feature vertically stacked dual camera setup and ring flash. The back panel of the Meizu 16 duo do not feature fingerprint scanner. The front panel of both phones are mainly occupied by the display. Meizu has already confirmed through a recent teaser that the Meizu 16 and 16 Plus will be equipped with .

The Meizu M882Q features 6-inch display and it houses a 2950mAh battery. Its dimensions are 150.5 x 73.2mm. On the other side, the Meizu M892Q that features 6.5-inch display and 3,750mAh measures 160.3 x 78.2mm.

The Meizu M882Q and M892Q smartphones sport slim profile of 7.3mm. These phones are expected to arrive with 18:9 aspect ratio AMOLED screens, Snapdragon 845 SoC and up to 8 GB of RAM.

The TENAA listings of the Meizu 16 and 16 Plus are expected to get populated with all their specs in the next few days. With nearly two weeks remaining for the official unveiling of the Meizu 16 and Meizu 16 Plus, the company is expected to reveal more information on these phones in the coming days.

These are Android One editions of the Xiaomi Mi 6X and Redmi 6 Pro that were recently launched in China. Since Mi A2 and Mi A2 Lite are Android One phones, they do not feature MIUI 9 custom UI found on Mi 6X and Redmi 6 Pro. Xiaomi has promised to that these smartphones will be receiving Android P 9.0 at the earliest.

Xiaomi Mi A2 Specifications and Features

The Xiaomi Mi A2 features an arc-shaped aluminum unibody that has a thickness of only 7.3mm. The handset can be availed in colors like Gold, Blue and Black. It features a 5.99-inch IPS LCD display that of 18:9 aspect ratio and FHD+ resolution of 2160 x 1080 pixels. The screen is tucked under a layer 2.5D Gorilla Glass 3.

The dual camera setup of the Xiaomi Mi A2 includes 20-megapixel Sony IM376 primary sensor with f/1.75 aperture and 2-micron 4-in-1 Super Pixel for capturing brighter shots in dim light conditions. Huawei’s Kirin 710 chip pops up on GeekBench onboard the Nova 3i

Huawei took the industry by storm a couple of days back with the launch of the Nova 3i packing the new Hisilicon Kirin 710 chipset. The Nova 3i has now appeared on Geekbench bearing the model number – Huawei INE-X2. The Gekbench listing affords us an opportunity to get our first glimpse of the benchmark performance of the Kirin 710 chipset.

The Hisilicon Kirin 710 is an octa-core built on a 12nm wafer and it features 4x Cortex-A73 cores clocked at 2.2GHz and 4x Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.7GHz. On the single core test, the Kirin 710 polled 1601 points while on the multi-core test it garnered 5457 points. Comparing this to other chipsets in the same categories, like the Snapdragon 660, and Snapdragon 710, we notice some differences. Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 710 chipset on its part, is a 10nm chipset with 2x Kryo 360 Gold (2.2GHz) and 6x Kryo 360 Silver cores (1.7GHz). They are based on Cortex-A75 and A55 respectively. With a single-core test score of 1875 and a multi-core test score of 5886 points, the SDM710 obviously performs better than Kirin 710. But then, Geekbench result doesn’t really reflect the actual real-life performance 100 percent.

The Kirin 710 Geekbench score is slightly higher than that of Qualcomm’s premium mid-range Snapdragon 660 chipset on the single core test (1599 points) while on the multi-core test, Snapdragon 660’s score of 5639 surpasses that of Huawei’s mid-range Kirin 710 chip.

We also compare the score of the Kirin 710 chip to that of its predecessor – Kirin 659 using the Geekbench score of the Honor 7X. Obviously, the Kirin 710 is a massive upgrade over the Kirin 659 which scored 909 points on the single-core test and in multi-core test, it recorded a score of 3159 points. The new Geekbench core for the Kirin 710 almost doubles that of its predecessor both on the single-core and multi-core tests. Thus, the performance is expected to be spot-on.

Its the second half of the year and time for Samsung to launch its second flagship, the Galaxy Note 9. Samsung already announced the launch date as August 9. But after the launch what comes next is when people can get their hands on the device. We have news for those in India.

Based on info from 91mobiles, the Galaxy Note 9 will be available for pre-order starting August 19. Pre-orders will run till the end of the month and sales will begin the first week of September. As is customary with Samsung, pre-orders are supposed to come with extra goodies but there isn’t any info on that at the moment.

With respect to price, the Galaxy Note 9 is expected to be priced between INR 70,000 (~$1015) to INR 75,000 (~$1087). However, the source says the price is pegged at INR 72,990 (~$1059).

As promised, Huawei’s sub-brand Honor has today launched its new smartphone in the Indian market — Honor 9N, which the rebranded model of the Honor 9i (2018) that was recently launched in China.

The Honor 9N comes in four color options — Midnight Black, Sapphire Blue, Lavender Purple and Robin Egg Blue. The smartphone will be available for purchase in India from 31st July exclusively through online marketplace Flipkart and Honor official store.

The smartphone comes with a 5.84-inch Full HD+ display with screen resolution of 2280 x 1080 pixels, 2.5D curved glass, and 19:9 aspect ratio. As is the current trend, the device features a notch on top of the display. Under the hood, the device will be powered by the company’s own Kirin 659 octa-core processor with Mali T830-MP2 graphics processor.

The 3GB RAM model has 32GB of internal storage while the 4GB RAM variant comes in two options for onboard storage — 64GB and 128GB. There’s also a microSD card slot that enables users to further expand the storage capacity up to 256GB. The smartphone will be powered by a 3,000mAh battery.

In the camera department, the phone features a dual camera setup on the back, consisting of a 13-megapixel primary sensor and a 2-megapixel secondary sensor. The Honor Note 10 is expected to be launched on July 31 and Huawei has released an official invitation to that effect. Ahead of its launch, the device has also made an appearance recently on China’s telecoms regulatory agency’s website – TENAA. The listing gave us an insight into the specifications of the device. One of the details revealed includes the presence of a 2220 x 1080p AMOLED display.

Before now, there were reports that Huawei has purchased a large inventory of 2K AMOLED display panels from Samsung and it was speculated to be for use on the Honor Note 10. That seems not to be the case but there’s a catch. Some internet users have disclosed via a post on Baidu that Huawei plans to utilize a new technology known as AI2k on the Honor Note 10. As suggested by the name, the technology makes use of Artificial Intelligence in order to enable the 1080p resolution display on the device to achieve 2K image quality. A teaser poster released by Honor had earlier shown the Note 10 would come with artificial intelligence.

The 1080p display which the device is expected to feature ordinarily helps in reducing CPU and GPU load as well as improving battery life. But with this new technology, the display would be able to offer more than 1080p resolution. This could be done in a way similar to what Nvidia did in 2014 with its Dynamic Super Resolution (DSR) which offers 4K quality on a 1080p resolution. We’ll have to wait to find out how the technology works when it is unveiled. The Honor Note is also tipped by Netizens to feature some other “scary” technology which will meet with us on July 31.

OPPO may launch full screen selfie phone with second screen, suggests new patent

According to OPPO, the recently unveiled Find X flagship phone’s massive display offers a screen-to-body ratio of 93.8 percent. The handset is equipped with advanced features like 3D facial scanning and pop-up camera setup. The recent patent filings of the company suggest that it plans to launch new smartphones with innovative design and features in the near future. For instance, it had recently applied multiple patents for foldable smartphones. Also, the Chinese manufacturer has recently received patent approval for a new selfie-centric smartphone at World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO).

As it can be seen below, the new patent reveals that the smartphone features a full screen design. The front camera is absent, and the screen is surrounded with ultra-slim bezels. This suggests that the smartphone will be offering an impressive screen-to-body ratio. The backside of the handset is interesting as it features a dual camera setup as well as a secondary touchscreen display. This may not feature a fingerprint scanner, or it could be embedded under the main display.

Scenes that are captured by the camera are visible on the second screen. The additional display will give access to some camera features such as night mode, continuous video recording, self-timer apart from regular photo and video shooting.

The main display can show the same content on the front. There is an icon which allow users to conveniently switch to the second display. OPPO may either use an LCD or an OLED screen on the phone. OPPO had filed this patent in September last year and it was published by WIPO on July 12.

There is no confirmation on whether OPPO will be soon launching a smartphone with such a design. The above patent seems to be a very suitable design for OPPO’s selfie expert series of smartphones.
