Zopo Speed 7 Plus Review: UNBOXING

IMG_2669 IMG_2672
What you are getting in the box include the power plug, USB cable, a pair of headphones and some documentation.

Zopo Speed 7 Plus Review: DESIGN

IMG_2698
The Zopo Speed 7 Plus is not a small phone as it comes with a 5.5” display. A good thing is that the device is lightweight and sits comfortably in the hand but one handed operation is not that easy as on other devices with this size of the screen.
IMG_2678
On the front you can find a 5MP shooter, earpiece, sensor light and a non-customisable LED light.
IMG_2679
On the bottom side there are on-screen navigation buttons, which are, however, not customisable. This is what I don’t like as the back button is on the left side and it is hard to reach it when operating the device in one hand.
IMG_2695
The back plate is made of plastic and there you can find a 13MP shooter, single LED flash on the top and the speaker grill on the bottom.
IMG_2684
The sides of the phone are also made of plastic but they don’t feel cheap.
IMG_2689
On the right there is a power button and the volume rocker and both of them have a great tactile feedback.
IMG_2687 IMG_2686
The micro USB charging port is on the bottom and the headset jack is on the top side.
IMG_3225
The back cover is very easy to remove and under the hood you can find a removable 3000mAh battery along with a microSD card slot and two micro SIM card slots. The first slot has the 4G LTE support.
IMG_2720
Overall, the built quality of the Zopo Speed 7 Plus is solid and it doesn’t feel cheap. However, it is made entirely of plastic and a metal frame could have made this phone look and feel premium.

Zopo Speed 7 Plus Review: DISPLAY

The 5.5” display is sharp, vivid and has a decent sunlight visibility for a budget phone. Well, it is not the highest quality panel I’ve seen but it is not bad either.

Zopo Speed 7 Plus Review: USER INTERFACE

The Zopo Speed 7 Plus runs on Android 5.1 with a light Zopo skin on top of it, which on one hand brings some nicely designed icons and some additional functionality but on the other hand you are getting a few bloatware apps out of the box.
Zopo added some motion and gesture controls and most of them work good but I simply cannot recommend using the gesture controls since the phone cannot recognise accidental touches. What I mean is that the device kept unlocking in my pocket and it was really annoying as I accidentally called several people and even sent some text messages.
Other than that, the UI is very fast and smooth, I didn’t get any hiccups even with lots of apps running in the background and I’m happy with it overall.

Zopo Speed 7 Plus Review: BENCHMARKS

Zopo Speed 7 Plus Review: HARDWARE and PERFORMANCE

IMG_2714
The Zopo Speed 7 Plus is quite a powerful device as it has an octa-core MTK6753 chip with the clock speeds of up to 1.5GHz and it is coupled with 3GB of RAM, and 16 of expandable storage.
Graphically intensive games like Asphalt 8 work similarly like on other phones with the same specs. The performance is good but not great as there  are some skipped frames and occasional stutter
A good thing is that the phone does not produce too much heat that it becomes uncomfortable to hold it in the hand.

Zopo Speed 7 Plus Review: MULTIMEDIA

The multimedia experience is good overall. The video playback is nice and smooth and the sound quality via earphones is decent.
IMG_2682
However, the loudspeaker could be louder and the sound quality does not impress as it lacks depth and the sound is a bit muffled. Anyway, this is common to the majority of phones in this price range.

Zopo Speed 7 Plus Review: CAMERA

IMG_2681
The phone has a stock Mediatek camera app with a few settings a shooting modes. However, there is one annoying bug that irritates me. Each time you want to enter the camera app, it shows the instructions how to use as the phone thinks you are opening the app for the first time.

Zopo Speed 7 Plus Review: IMAGE QUALITY

The daylight images produced by the Zopo Speed 7 Plus are actually pretty good. They have a good amount of details, colour reproduction is good but the dynamic range can be a hit or miss.
The pictures taken indoors look good when there is plenty of lighting but could be better in lower-light situations as there is less detail, a lot of noise and the shutter speed slows down.
The night pictures do not impress but some of the images look pretty good for a budget device.

Zopo Speed 7 Plus Review: VIDEO QUALITY

The 1080p video quality is far from the best but it looks okay for a budget phone. The level of details could be better but I liked the colour reproduction, auto-exposure and the fact that the footage does not look very shaky. See the video review for a video sample.

Zopo Speed 7 Plus Review: CONNECTIVITY

IMG_2683
I don’t have any complaints about connectivity options as the call quality along with the signal reception are good, Bluetooth and wifi are also working fine. GPS is fast to get a position lock but it could be a tad more accurate and it is not on par with the phones, powered by Snapdragon chips.

Zopo Speed 7 Plus Review: BATTERY LIFE

The 3000mAh battery performs great. I could get from 3 to almost 5 hours of screen-on time depending on what I did with the phone. If you are gaming or taking lots of pictures every day, you may get a 3.5 hours of screen-on time.

Zopo Speed 7 Plus Review: CONCLUSIONS

IMG_2700
So there you have, the Zopo Speed 7 Plus. The phone has a solid built quality but it lacks premium materials like metal in its design. The IPS display is bright, vivid and has decent colour reproduction.
IMG_2727
As far as the software experience goes, it is snappy and performs well but the out-of-box bloatware is something that may be annoying. A good thing is that you can easily uninstall everything.
IMG_2701
The performance is okay but it could be better as the occasional stutter does not ensure the best gaming experience.
Also, with the Zopo Speed 7 Plus you are getting a decent camera, good battery life and the 4G LTE support.
IMG_2697
However, I believe that this phone is a bit overpriced as there are some other similar offerings, which have the same specs or even some extra features like a finger print scanner and a metal frame in its design, which cost $30 or even $50 less.
IMG_2680
Overall, despite a few software bugs and some other disadvantages, the Zopo Speed 7 Plus is a decent phone. Is it worth the extra cash, it is up to you to decide.

Xiaomi has broken another record by selling 1.5 million units of the Redmi Note 2 which was just launched a month ago. The smart phone was selling for 125 USD in its 16GB version and 156 USD in its 32 GB model. This has contributed to the record high sales and the projection indicates that the sales for the Redmi Note 2 might exceed 10 million by the end of 2015.

xiaomi redimi note 2
The slim design phone is equipped with 13MP rear camera for full HD great shots and 5MP front camera for a clearer video chats. The bright exterior colors of the cover options give users a wider array of selection. The eight Cortex A53 processor and the 2GB RAM together with the 5.5 inch 1080 pixels HD display create the astonishing user experience. The phone accepts dual Micro-SIMs that can be both 4G technology. The FM radio, the 4.0 Bluetooth and the 802.11ac Wi-Fi radio offer more connectivity solutions. Unfortunately at the moment, it is reported that the Redmi Note 2 is only available for the Chinese local market. However, Xiaomi’s products are showing a huge potential to attract even larger number of buyers in the international market. The company is already expanding to the Indian market and also eying the US for the near future.

No.1 S6i 4G, Galaxy S6 Clone Comes with Android 5.1 & LTE connectivity

Just a few weeks after Samsung announced its Galaxy S6 flagship with a beautiful revamped design, No.1 announced a clone of their own, called as the No.1 S6i. Now, almost 5 months after the announcement, the company is back with an upgrade, the No.1 S6i 4G. As the name suggests, the highlight of this phone with be LTE connectivity in a beautiful design.
image

Most of the specifications remain the same, except for its slightly larger display. The No.1 S6i 4G comes with a 5.1-inch display instead of 5-inch on its predecessor. The resolution remains the same as before, i.e. 1280 x 720p. Under the hood, there’s the 64-bit MT6735 quad-core chip clocked at 1.3GHz. Thats enough for your everyday needs. There’s 1GB of RAM on board and 16GB of storage which unfortunately is not upgradable.
Given that its LTE connectivity is the biggest upgrade, here’s the supported networks.

GSM:850/900/1800/1900MHz
EDGE:850/900/1800/1900MHz
WCDMA:BAND1(2100MHz), BAND2(1900MHz),BAND5( 850MHz)
TD-SCDMA:BAND34(2010MHz)/39(1880MHz)
TDD-LTE:BAND38(2600MHz)/39(1900MHz)/40(2300MHz)/41B(2500MHz)
FDD-LTE:BAND1(2100MHz)/3(1800MHz)/4(1700MHZ)/7(2600MHZ)/20(800MHz)

The phone runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop OS and comes with a decent 2800 mAh battery. As for the body, its quite thin measuring just 6.8 mm in thickness. Its weighs only about 155 grams. At the back, there’s a 13MP camera while up front, you’ll find a 5MP shooter.
The company is yet to announce pricing and availability details, but stay tuned for more info.

Before the presale ends, Ulefone will begin to deliver Ulefone Paris from September 25, so all buyers don’t have to wait a month for their packages sent out. Experiencing a severe supply shortage over the Be Touch 2, Ulefone says they have learned a lesson and are enlarging their presale stock and production capacity.

In addition, most mobile phones which pack the MTK6753 chipset also adopt the 1080P display resolution, while Ulefone Paris looks unique among them. In a philosophy of “extreme balance”, Ulefone believes that a device with display of mild resolution controlled by a sound processor will greatly improve user experiences.

Xiaomi Mi5 Renders Emerge With Dual Camera Setup

The Weibo user KJuma has been releasing leaks about Chinese smartphones for a long time. Some of them have turned out to be true, while some not. Today, he has released a couple of pictures of a new Xiaomi flagship device. While he doesn’t reveal the name of the handset, its most likely of the Xiaomi Mi5, that’s expected to launch before the end of 2015.
image

From the renders, it looks like the new Xiaomi Mi5 smartphone will have no bezels at all. The display extents to the sides, creating a bezelless effect. Now that we have seen the bezelless ZTE Nubia Z9, this doesn’t sound too far fetched. On top of the display, you have the standard sensors along with the camera. There’s the traditional MI logo on the top left corner.
image

However, when you come to the bottom, it gets a bit interesting. The renders show that the phone has a physical home button, which will most likely integrate a fingerprint sensor too. It has been a trend for almost every major flagship in 2015 to feature a biometric sensor, and Xiaomi too could follow suit.

Even the back is interesting. The Xiaomi phone renders reveal that the phone could come with dual cameras at the back. We have seen many recent smartphones like the ZTE Axon Elite with such a setup. Along with the dual cameras, the Xiaomi phone will come with dual LED flash as well.  Finally, there’s once again the MI branding at the back.

Before you get too excited, there’s a pretty good chance that this isn’t the real design. Also, Xiaomi is yet to reveal anything about its upcoming flagship officially, so its best to take this news with a pinch of salt. We expect the company to announce the handset, sometime after Qualcomm makes Snapdragon 820 available in the market.

Meizu’s Flyme 5 OS Will Debut Alongside Its Pro 5 Flagship On September 23

Last week, Meizu had released new teasers for the launch of its upcoming flagship, Meizu Pro 5 on September 23. However, the company didn’t say anything about its new Flyme 5 OS which was also supposed to release later this month, at least according to the previous information. Now, Flyme’s Chief Design Architect, Yan Yang has just confirmed via his official Weibo page that the company will also release its new Flyme 5 OS during the launch of its flagship Pro 5.

flyme 5.0

He adds that the company was too busy to keep a separate launch event for the Flyme 5 OS. As a result, Meizu decided to unveil the brand new OS, (most likely based on Android 5.1) at the same time as the Pro 5. Along with this information, he released a number of screenshots of the upcoming OS, showing off the new design language used throughout the system.

If you have used a Meizu device before that was running the Flyme 4.5, you would see that in general, the design looks familiar. So, the overall OS looks like the continuation of its previous generation, but with changes in the details of the apps and some other aspects of the OS. For example, the apps on the new Flyme 5, like music, videos, traffic, e-mail, albums etc are a direct continuation from the previous version, but they have some subtle changes in the details to let us know that its the new generation that we are using.

Flyme has never been the best aspect of Meizu, but the company could be trying to change that with the new Flyme 5. Lets hope that the new OS is smoother, faster and more feature rich than the previous generations.

Stay tuned for more information in the coming days.

Xiaomi, HTC & Meizu To Use Helio X20 10-core chip, First Phones Coming in October

In the past couple of months, we have seen plenty of instances where the powerful 10 core Helio X20 has come up on benchmarking websites. Unsurprisingly, almost every time, the chip’s performance was impressive. We already know that both Meizu and HTC are likely to use this new chip on their upcoming flagship smartphones, but now, Taiwanese Media reports that even Xiaomi is working on a deca core smartphone. Further, the report states that the first smartphones powered by Helio X20 could debut as early as October 2015.

mediatek-heliop10-announced-01

While Xiaomi may not be the first one to use this deca core chip, it is said that the company has at least one machine with this chip that’s being tested right now. Even Xiaomi is expected to release this new handset sometime before the end of this year. From the previous leaks and the timing of the launch of the new chip, its likely that the report is talking about the upcoming Xiaomi Mi5 flagship.

mediatek helio x20 leak 02

As for the performance of the chip, its expected to be better, or atleast at par with Exynos 7420. The MT6797 Helio X20 chip is based on the 20nm process, with the worlds first Tri-Cluster architecture. The chip will come with 10 cores, with two Cortex A72 and eight Cortex A53 ones. Other specs include support for LTE Cat. 6 network and dual carrier aggregation.

It is said that Meizu’s upcoming flagship, the Meizu Pro 5 will have a low version which will be powered by Helio X20. The higher version is reportedly powered by Samsung’s Exynos 7420. Even Xiaomi Mi5 could have two different versions, with one of them powered by the Helio X20 chip.

So, what do you think? Can Mediatek take over the premium high-end market with its new deca-core Helio X20?

IMG_2894
As far as the sound quality goes, the Easy Acc Bluetooth speaker definitely impressed me as it is loud and has quite a lot of depth in its sound considering the size of this tiny speaker. Also, the level of bass is not bad at all.
One thing I’ve noticed though was that it starts crackling at the highest volume setting when playing certain songs.
The Bluetooth range is good and it is on par with other Bluetooth speakers I’ve tested.

IMG_2876
The Easy Acc DP100 Bluetooth speaker has a great design, good built quality and it doesn’t feel cheap at all. It has good sound quality and a decent amount of bass considering the size of it. Also, the control buttons are very clicky and responsive, and the hands-free feature works quite good. As far as the battery life, it is really impressive. IMG_2882
Overall, I don’t see any major shortcomings about this speaker except the fact that it may make some crackling noises on some songs when you play the music at the highest volume setting.
IMG_2905
Other than that, for just under $22 it is a great buy.

Elephone Vowney to be available in 2k and 1080p

elephone Vowney-2
Further details of the soon to be released Elephone Vowney have today been released, the phone will come in two variants.
The first of the two new Elephones the Vowney Light will feature  a 5.5″ 1080P (1920 x 1080) display, MT6795 (Helio X10) CPU, 3GB RAM and 16GB ROM the phone will be running Android 5.1 out of the box
The second Vowney handset is higher end and comes with a 5.5″ 2K(2560 x 1440) display,  MT6795 (Helio X10) CPU, 4GB RAM and 32GB ROM it will also be running Android 5.1  out of the box.
The USB port appears to be a standard micro USB rather than a C-type USB, whilst its not cutting edge it will suffice.
elephone Vowney

The phone is said to come with a 21 mega-pixel Sony IMX230 rear shooter and as can be seen in the images below a 2 tone flash is present.

elephone Vowney-6

The rear camera is slightly raised from the back of the lightly textured rear cover.

elephone Vowney-5

Something that will probably make some people unhappy is the black bands around the screen bezels, they are a lot smaller than on previous Elephone handsets and to be honest don’t really cause any problems in use.

elephone Vowney-4

Looking at the front of the Elephone Vowney we can see what looks to be a Halo style home button, on a previously released hands on video, the controls were on screen, perhaps this is switchable between standard capacitive and onscreen? it would be a shame to have all that real estate on the screen taken up with something that could fit on the phones chin.

elephone Vowney-3

Style wise the phone is a good looking thing, I would probably not choose to go for something as bright as the gold, but as Apple have shown, there is a huge market for it.

Get $11 Off Zopo Speed 7 and Speed 7 Plus from Comebuy

Zopo may not be the No. 1 manufacturer that comes to your mind when choosing a new smartphone but our recent reviews suggest that this smartphone maker is able to produce some decent smartphones for a price.

In fact, I am currently testing the Zopo Speed 7 Plus and I am pretty impressed with how snappy it is. Also, it has a vibrant screen and a pretty good camera for the daylight images. I have an impression that Zopo is one of those Chinese manufacturers that are working hard and improving the quality of their products and are also investing quite a lot marketing in the EU. However, I am keeping a final judgement till I write a full review (and make a video review).

2

The Zopo Speed 7 comes with a 5″ and the Speed 7 Plus has 5.5″ 1080p display. The bezels may not be that narrow as it is depicted in the picture but the display itself is really good even if you are looking at it under direct sunlight.

4-2

The powerful chip (MT6753) along with decent amount of RAM (3GB) and a proper software optimisation (Android 5.1) is usually a combo that makes the phone fly through daily tasks. Also, it should be enough to handle the more demanding tasks like 3D gaming.

8-2

Both devices sport a 13MP camera that is actually capable of taking some decent looking daylight images that I will upload in the upcoming full review article.

img__4791_1

Overall, the phone looks and feels well made and sits nicely in the hand. Also, the UI is really fast and fluid even with lots of apps running in the background and so far I don’t have any complaints about the Zopo Speed 7 that I’ve been using as a daily driver for more than a week now.

Leeline WT10 Rugged 10.1″ Windows 8.1/Android 4.4 Hybrid Tablet

Leeline a major player in the rugged handheld device industry, started promoting a new Rugged Windows 8.1/Android 4.4 Dual-Booting 10.1″ Tablet, dubbing it the “Perfect Outdoor Companion”. This is interesting for various different reasons. Firstly, this is one of very few tablets that can dual-boot Windows alongside with Android. Secondly, it is waterproof, dustproof, and shockproof, which adds the Leeline to the very few tablets in this category.

Meizu VP Confirms The Name ‘Pro 5’ With High Quality Images of its Box

Yesterday, a leak showed of some low quality images of the upcoming Meizu flagship smartphone. According to the box in the picture, the smartphone was going to be called as the Meizu Pro 5. Now, Meizu’s VP, Li Nan has confirmed the name ‘Pro 5’ by releasing some high-quality images of the box.

The new high-quality images of the Pro 5’s box, confirm the all black design that we saw earlier. Inside, the place where the smartphone lies also kind of confirms the round corners on the device. But its not surprising given that we had already seen some good quality renders of the Pro 5, thanks to the leak by the same VP.

In fact, Li Nan had released the images just a few hours before the official launch of the iPhone 6S, just to avoid any design copy accusations from users. As you can see from the image below, the Meizu Pro 5 flagship seems to continue with the same design philosophy as the MX5.

As for the specs, Meizu CEO Bai Yongxiang had said that the upcoming devices will feature a resolution of 1080p. As for the display size, its expected to be around 5.5-inches. Under the hood, it is said that the phone will come with Exynos 7420 chipset with 3GB / 4GB RAM versions and 32GB/ 64Gb storage options. At the back, you can expect a powerful 21MP shooter and up front, a 5MP camera.

As for the pricing, the company has already said that it is targeted at the premium high-end segment, so it should be greater than 3000 Yuan.

The Qualcomm Snapdragon Flight Reference Platform will be an all-in-one board combining the power of Snapdragon 801, robust connecitivity and advanced software and development tools. The board enables real time flight control on the Hexagon DSP. It features advanced connectivity options like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth etc. Finally, the platform gives you access to the global navigation satellite system (GNSS) for accurate location tracking.

One of the highlights of the board is its size. It measures just  58x40mm offering such high-tech capabilities. In fact, thanks to the 4K video support of the Snapdragon Flight, the company managed to demo one of the world’s smallest 4K drone.

Other interesting features include Barometer sensor, additional ports for new sensors, Qualcomm’s Quick Charge technology and dual cameras for depth sensing.

Overall, the Snapdragon Flight is a feature rich board for anyone who wants to build a drone. You no longer have to contact multiple suppliers for different parts of your device. Everything is included in the board including the communication as well as camera components.

The company adds that one of the leading drone manufacturers, Yuneec will be releasing its first drone based on Snapdragon Flight in 2016. Select manufacturers already have access to this board and the first drones will be available to purchase in the first half of 2016.

Lenovo To Enter OEM Business: Will Start Manufacturing Handsets!

According to the latest report from Taiwan, Lenovo has decided to enter into the handset manufacturing business as a part of the company’s new restructuring plan.

wpid-wp-1441949388925.jpeg

This is not very surprising since the company hasn’t been in its best form in the past couple of quarters. Lenovo posted a loss of nearly $300 million in the second quarter of 2015. Further, it is said that the Lenovo Mobile’s shipments have actually started to decline recently. As a result, the company has been making some strategic changes internally to get back to profitability.

Fierce competition from rival companies like Xiaomi, LeTV, Meizu as well as Huawei has affected the profitability of Lenovo Mobile significantly. However, with this strategic move, Lenovo may even offer its factories for manufacturing smartphones from rival companies such as above.

After reporting its Q2 earnings, Lenovo had said that the company will no longer just focus on increasing its market share, instead it will pay more attention to quality, supply chain efficiency and profitability.

The report from Digitimes adds that the main reason for the company to enter the OEM handset business was to improve its capacity utilization rate also known as operating rate. The earlier factories were not up to the mark, and hence, the company decided to enter the industry to improve the rate.

With Lenovo’s entry into OEM handset manufacturing, business of companies like Compal Electronics, FIH Mobile and Foxconn could be affected.

Cubot H1 Hands On: 5200mAh Battery in a Compact Body

A couple of weeks back, we had reported about a new smartphone from Cubot called as the Cubot H1. This particular device was special in the sense that it packed a massive 5200mAh battery on board, making sure that the phone lasted for more than a couple of days easily.

cubot-h1-01

Now, we have go hands on with the Cubot H1, and the initial impression is quite good. The built quality is decent, with a sturdy body and no loose parts. In fact, this was a factory model, so expect the final release to be even better.

The back features a glossy texture, but its not slippery as Xiaomi devices. The texture makes sure that you get good grip while holding the device. Moreover, it also helps to avoid any fingerprint marks on the back cover. Both the headphone jack and the MicroUSB port are on top of the device.

As for the specs, the phone comes with MT6735P 64-bit processor clocked at 1GHZ. There will be 2GB RAM on board along with 16GB of internal storage further expandable via MicroSD. While the display is just 720p on a 5.5-inch screen, it looked good. As for the camera, there’s a 13MP shooter at the back with single LED flash and an 8MP front facing camera. The phone supports dual SIM card with 4LTE connectivity. Supports bands include: 1/3/7/20. Finally, you get an IR port which lets you control a number of appliances at your home.

The phone’s battery is probably the major reason you would go with this device. The 5200mAh battery can also be used as a power bank to charge other devices. Moreover, it supports fast charging to make sure that you don’t have to spend too much time with the charger.

Overall, the Cubot H1 is a great device for anyone who needs a large battery phone. Since we have the handset with us right now, expect more hands on and review articles in the coming days.

Meizu’s new flagship to be called as the ‘Meizu Pro 5’ according to leaked photos

Earlier today, Meizu announced that it will be having a big conference at the Beijing National Convention Center on September 23. To make thing easier for us to guess, the teaser image came with the words, Meizu Go Pro. So, we knew that the new Meizu device was going to be called as the Pro. But now, thanks to the leaked images of the retail box, the actual name of the handset has been revealed.

wpid-wp-1441884601427.jpeg

While we expected some new name for the premium lineup, it looks like Meizu has decided to keep things simple by calling it the Meizu Pro 5. The leaked box clearly comes with the words ‘Pro 5’ on top, which gave away the name of the upcoming flagship handset. The overall design and packaging of the box is in line with Meizu’s invitation, as a result, its likely that the this is the real deal.

Its really surprising to see that the company would go with such a name. When Li Nan said that they were discontinuing the MX5 lineup, we expected something a lot different, in the name as well as feel. Meizu ME5 was the rumored name going around on the internet for the past few weeks, but it looks like Meizu Pro 5 will be the final name of the handset.

wpid-wp-1441884596467.jpeg

Another reason why the name could be real is because the original source who posted the pictures of the retail box deleted the weibo post immediately. But thanks to the active weibo users, we have those pictures right now.

Anyways, the Pro 5 launch is just a couple of weeks away. Given that we are receiving new information almost every day, we can expect to see a lot more about the Meizu Pro 5 flagship before the official launch.

Anyways, what do you think about the name Meizu Pro 5? Do you like it?

Attractive new Smart watch from Elephone

ele watch-2

Elephone have today sent over a render of their first foray in to the smart watch market and I would have to say that it is an attractive looking thing.

The new Smart watch from Elephone features a true round faced screen (as opposed to some that are square with the edges hidden behind the bezel and casings) that does not have the flat tyre effect that others like the Moto 360 have been blighted by.

From the limited information provided, Elephone say it will be highly cost-effective and feature exquisite workmanship and come with a heart rate sensor built in.

Style wise if the actual watch lives up to the renders, this certainly looks to be one of the most upmarket watches to come out of China.

What is as yet unknown is the internal specification of the watch, an educated guess would be a Mediatek Aster MT2502A SoC, however if they were to go with the newer MT2601 SoC then support for Android Wear would be possible.

With Google having recently announced their plan to return to mainland China as a provider of consumer Web services (all be it in a cut down manner), it would be a real coupe for a new Smart watch from Elephone if they could get the phone out with Android Wear at a decent price and specification.

Please leave comments and questions below.

HTC One A9 (Aero) With MT6797 deca-core chip hits Geekbench, beats Exynos 7420!

HTC is all set to announce two new flagships at its “The World Best Meets The Best” event on September 29. One of these devices will most likely be the HTC One A9 aka HTC Aero. The phone has been making the rounds on the internet for the past few weeks, boasting of high-end specs.

wpid-wp-1441865285048.jpeg

One of the highlights of the HTC One A9 is going to be the new deca-core Helio X20 MT6797 processor. The chip is said to be very powerful, with 10 cores in a tri-cluster design ready for any task. Now, the same chip powering the HTC One A9 has hit Geekbench, revealing its true power.

According to the Geekbench listing, the HTC One A9 with MT6797 scores an impressive 1835 in the single core test. That’s almost as much the dual-core NVIDIA Tegra K1 scores in the Nexus 9. In the multi-core test, the performance was even more impressive. Thanks to the 10 powerful cores, MT6797 managed to beat everyone including the Exynos 7420 with a mind-blowing score of 5884 points.

Clearly, this shows that Mediatek has created a powerhouse for flagships. The dual A72 cores and octa A53 cores makes sure that you get the maximum performance without sacrificing on the battery life. Moreover, Helio X20 comes with the new T8xx series graphics chip which outdoes PowerVR G6200 (in MT6795) in all respects.

Other specs include 4GB of RAM and Android 5.1 OS. We still don’t have much idea about the camera on the device, but it is said that the aperture will be large (f/1.9) and the sensor will be capable of taking pictures in RAW format. Also, the display is expected to be QHD.

Overall, the new HTC Aero is going to be a powerful device. If the Helio X20 is really this powerful, we might be looking at the new best smartphone chipset. Since the launch is on September 29, expect more details pretty soon.
