Tencent is the world’s fifth largest internet company and this Chinese tech giant has already established itself as a well known player in the mobile industry with its Tencent QQ and WeChat applications which have millions of users worldwide.
Now, the company has announced that it will soon launch its own operating system called as the TencentOS. This new ROM will most likely be based on Android, much like Alibaba’s own YunOS. The company has created a dedicated page on Weibo as well as on its website, where it will update more details soon.
Tencent plans to launch the new TencentOS / TOS in beta on 3rd March 2015. Unfortunately, the company has not revealed what kind of UI it plans to use on its new ROM, but expect more details on its features in the coming few weeks.
Even before the announcement of the low cost 699 Yuan Meizu M1 we got reports that the phone could come in three different OS variants. We have already seen the Flyme powered Meizu M1 Blue Charm device, which leaves us with two more editions, the YunOS version and the Ubuntu version.
Looks like the second model namely the Meizu M1 YunOS edition will soon hit the market. The device was recently spotted on the Chinese TENAA certification agency which revealed that the phone will come with Alibaba’s Aliyun OS. The other specs of the phone are the same, so this won’t be the rumored 2GB RAM version that will take on the Xiaomi’s new Redmi 2 model. The phone has the same MT6732 64-bit quad-core processor, 13MP + 5MP cameras, 5-inch display as the regular version.
This YunOS edition for Meizu M1 is not really surprising given that the company had previously partnered up with Aliyun for the YunOS powered Meizu MX4 model. At that time, we thought it could be a MX4 exclusive deal, but now we know that there are more such versions planned.
Meizu and Alibaba group recently struck a deal wherein the Chinese e-commerce giant invested about half a billion dollars for an undisclosed minority stake in the Chinese smartphone maker. So, Meizu would advantage from the vast financial as well as physical resources of the e-commerce giant, while Alibaba can finally revive its dying OS which was unveiled almost 4 years back.
After the deal, the Alibaba group made an announcement that the company aimed to provide support to Meizu in a number of fields like e-commerce and mobile operating system.
“Alibaba Group will provide Meizu with resources and support in the fields of e-commerce, mobile Internet, mobile operating system and data analysis with the aim of developing Meizu’s smartphone ecosystem,”
So, this partnership could give a boost to Meizu, which is still behind Xiaomi and other companies in China. In fact, the company is yet to make it to the top 5 smartphone manufacturer list in its home country. But the manufacturer has shown promise especially by selling around 1.5 million smartphones in just January alone.
Both the Meizu M1 and the Meizu M1 Note have received positive response from customers and hence, they could be quite popular in the international markets too. So, with this newly announced partnership with Alibaba, Meizu is all set to take things to the next level.
But only till will tell whether Meizu can compete with well established manufacturers in the international markets.
ZOPO’s smartphones are known for its well built design and features at an affordable price. Now, this Chinese company is all set to unveil yet another mid-range smartphone that comes with a 64-bit processor.
The new ZOPO ZP530 sports a 5-inch 2.5D IPS HD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Inside, the phone comes with Mediatek’s 64-bit MT6732 quad-core processor clocked at 1.5GHz along with Mali-T760 GPU. There will be 1GB of RAM onboard along with 8GB of internal memory. While it isn’t clear whether the phone features an external microSD card slot, given the small storage, its more than likely that you’ll get one on the phone.
As for the camera, the phone features an 8MP shooter at the back with LED flash and a 5MP camera up front. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi, GLONASS / GPS / A-GPS, Bluetooth and high speed 4G LTE support (Cat. 4). To power all these specs, there will be a 2100 mAh battery onboard, which is quite decent for a mid-range phone. Also, for those who are wondering about the phone’s size, its pretty average at 145 x 71.2 x 8.8 mm.
The ZOPO ZP530 runs on Android 4.4 KitKat OS. We still have no idea about the pricing of the product, but we’ll update you guys as soon as ZOPO reveals more details officially.
Samsung is all set to announce its Galaxy S6 flagship phone at MWC 2015. We have seen numerous reports, leaks and rumors about the upcoming device till date and today, we have one more leak which shows off the true power of the Exynos 7420 that comes inside Samsung’s next flagship.
Galaxy S6 with the model number SM-G925W8 was spotted on the AnTuTu benchmark app recently and the device with the Exynos 7420 managed to score an amazing 60978 points. That’s greater than Snapdragon 810, overclocked MT6595 and any other eight-core processor from other companies.
We have been hearing rumors about Samsung shifting completely to its own Exynos chips for its flagship S6 and this could be the reason. The processor will come with Mali-T760 GPU which is quite fast. To be specific, it is said that the GPU will be Mali-T760MP8 instead of the T760MP6 found on the Exynos 5433 SoC.
Also, since with such tremendous power, a lot of heat could be generated, it is said that the Exynos 7420 will use the advanced 14nm process, which if true, will be the first such mobile SoC in the market.
Coming to the Galaxy S6 specs, the phone will come with a 5.1-inch 2K 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution display. This goes against the previous rumors which hinted at a 5.5-inch display. Moving on, inside, the device will have the new Exynos 7420 eight-core processor clocked at 2.1GHz along with 3GB RAM and 32GB inbuilt storage. The rear camera will be of 20.7MP while the front shooter will be of 5MP. The device unsurprisingly will run on the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop version.
Latest reports indicate that Samsung will move away from the traditional plastic design to a metal body in the latest flagship. The phone is expected to come with other features too like fingerprint sensor, Samsung’s own payment system etc.
We are just a few days away from the official launch, so stay tuned for more updates.
Vertu is the company that does not need a further introduction when it comes to luxury devices. They just released Vertu Aster in at September 2014 in China, and seen China’s 4G LTE developing very fast. This time around it seems that the manufacturer wants to further expand its portfolio by releasing a Vertu Aster T device in China.
The device will have a dual 4G connectivity (FDD and TDD LTE). Also, it will have a relatively small 4.7 inches screen with a resolution of 1080 × 1920 (covered by sapphire glass), 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, 13mp rear camera with LED flash, front camera (pixel count is not yet disclosed) and it will be running Android 4.4.2 (yes, you will pay a lot of money, but will not have the newest version of Android).
Vertu Aster T offers a variety of leather materials and colors to choose from, depending on the material, Vertu Aster T price will also be different. The colours will include black, pink, blue calfskin basic models and advanced type of black, orange snakeskin models, the former starting at $ 6,900 (the price is about 10x of 16GB iPhone 6), and the price growing up to $ 9,700 for the snakeskin model. In addition to the sapphire glass used to cover the screen and luxury leather materials on the back, the body is made out of titanium alloy. Thus, it will weigh 195g.
As you can see, the manufacturer has released another luxury smartphone that comes with a hefty price tag. Still, there is a niche of consumers, who buy these devices. Any takers?
Pipo has a new tablet under development which is said to feature very high end specs. The model number of the upcoming device is not yet known, however, several pictures along with the key detailed specifications of the device were leaked recently.
The new Pipo tablet is said to be powered by the Intel’s new powerful yet efficient Core M processors. These processors are built on an advanced 14nm process along with a new architecture. This allows the Core M processors to be super fast and power efficient at the same time. Due to the new age Intel processors, the power consumption is reduced to 4.5W which helps increase battery life. Further, despite the tremendous power capacity, the tablet PC comes with a fanless design making the device even more portable and light.
To support this powerful processor, Pipo has reportedly included 4GB of RAM onboard. For storage there will be a 64GB SSD on the device. This overall setup will ensure a very smooth experience for the user.
According to the leaked pictures, the device will have a number of connectivity ports such as a card reader, USB 3.0, USB 2.0 and an headphone jack.
The new Pipo tablet PC is expected to retail for a price tag of 2499 Yuan which comes to around $400. We have yet to officially hear anything from the company but expect more details very soon.
Lenovo is not really known for its budget smartphones, however last year, the company unveiled its low end K series to compete with existing popular smartphones like Xiaomi Redmi 1S. The new K3 came loaded with similar specs as the Redmi rival and at a similar price tag too.
Now, latest rumors indicate that Lenovo is all set to reveal a 2GB RAM Lenovo K3 version in the market to make things even more competitive. Even with the increased RAM, the Lenovo K3 will be priced at the same figure as the recently announced Xiaomi Redmi 2 i.e. 699 Yuan. This will make the device much better than the 1GB RAM Redmi version and even if Xiaomi released the rumored 2GB variant that hit TENAA, it would be at a higher price, once again making this new Lenovo smartphone quite attractive.
Other tech specs of the device include a Snapdragon 410 quad-core processor, 16GB ROM, and 5-inch 720p display. There will be an 8MP rear camera and a 2MP front camera on the device. It will run on the Android 4.4 KitKat OS and will feature a 2300 mAh battery.
Overall, the specs and pricing of the device makes it a better option than Xiaomi’s Redmi 2. However, it would be interesting when the 2GB Xiaomi Redmi 2 variant hits the market and the price at which it will retail.
In the past few years, Xiaomi has established itself as a reliable and a fast growing brand. Last year, the company had released a advert on YouKu which was over 1 minute long for the Spring Festival.
Now, for the upcoming sprint season festival, Xiaomi has released an all new colorful video showing off its latest release, the Xiaomi Mi Note.
The released video is just 15 seconds long and we have added it below. It looks like there will be a full version of the advertisement soon, around the Spring festival time, which would explain a lot of things that we see inside this video.
We saw some rumors recently which claimed that HTC will announce a new budget device in the Desire lineup. Now, the company has officially unveiled the rumored device, namely the HTC Desire 626, which comes with modest specs and an affordable price tag, making things even more competitive in the low end market. HTC has always been popular for its design and quality smartphones, so HTC’s new Desire 626 will definitely provide one more choice to buyers.
HTC has announced the device in its home country, Taiwan, but we expect a worldwide release pretty soon. As for tech specs, the Desire 626 features a 5-inch 1280 X 720P display along with a 64-bit Snapdragon 410 processor. There will be 1GB of RAM onboard along with 16GB of expandable memory. The rear camera will be of 13MP while the front shooter will be of 5MP. At the back, there will be a 2000 mAh battery which should be enough for a day with moderate usage. However we would have liked something bigger given that popular phones in the price range come with a 2300+ mAh battery.
The device will be available in Taiwan for NT5990, which comes to around 1185 Yuan ($190). That’s a great price for a phone with HTC’s name as well as design.
The version available in Taiwan be feature only a single SIM card slot, however it is said that the international variant will feature dual SIM card slots.
A new ZTE device recently passed TENAA revealing budget specifications. The device will be called as the ZTE S2015 and will sport the company’s traditional design. For design, the phone has rounded corners and has a circular home button, much like the Nubia series. The battery will be non-removable and the overall thickness of the phone comes to around 8.5mm. It will be pretty light weight too at 150 grams.
Coming to the specifications, the ZTE S2015 will feature a quad-core Snapdragon 410 processor, which is the current standard in budget devices in recent times. Even the budget Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G comes with this processor, which performs quite well. There will be 2GB RAM onboard with 16GB memory which can be further expanded via a MicroSD. The front will feature a 5-inch 720p display. At the back will be an 8MP camera and up front will be a 5MP shooter.
The phone will be pretty loaded in connectivity features as it will support TD-LTE, LTE-FDD, WCDMA and GSM networks along with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and other standard functions.
As you can see from the specs point of view, the phone looks like a budget offering which should retails for less than 1000 Yuan ($160). However, the company is yet to disclose anything about the device officially, so we’ll have to wait for a few more weeks to get some more information.
A few days back, OnePlus made its flagship killer, OnePlus One available without any invite! At that time, Indian readers were furious because they were not allowed to purchase the phone, however OnePlus’s twitter account did say that the company would host a special day for its fans even in India.
Now, the day has finally arrived. The company has started to send out mails saying that the OnePlus One will be available in India without invite on 10 February 2015. This will be the first time the company is making its popular smartphone available for sale in the country without an invite, so we expect good response from fans.
The sale will start at 10 AM on 10 February on Amazon, which has been the company’s exclusive partner since it launched in the country. The company further adds that there are limited stocks available, so stocks are expected to sell out fast!
Here’s what the mail said,
“There’s some good news for all those in India who couldn’t lay their hands on the latest OnePlus One smartphones! To celebrate the successful completion of 10 weeks of OnePlus in India, Amazon and OnePlus will hold the first-ever open sale of OnePlus One phones, starting 10 AM on February 10, 2015. We’ve been enthused by the fabulous response from Indian customers so far and to return the love shown by you, everyone will be invited tomorrow. Customers will not require any invite to purchase their favourite OnePlus One smartphone during the sale.”
So, those who have been waiting to get their hands on this flagship killer will finally have their chance tomorrow.
However, its been quite a while since the device first hit the markets and the long wait has already forced fans to opt for other flagship devices.
So, will you be purchasing the OnePlus One tomorrow?
Btw here’s the link to the amazon page. Make sure you purchase the device as soon as you can tomorrow!
We usually do not do any night lamps reviews (which would be actually odd), but this time around we noticed something different and maybe worth your attention. Actually, you may think what can be different about the night lamps, but the Woody night lamp has some 3D stuff going on. Let’s get right into it to see what it is by checking out the packaging and unboxing it.
Packaging
1 of 6
As you can see the device comes in two different boxes, where there are parts that complement each other. The boxes are nothing special to talk about as they are made out of plain cardboard. What is more interesting that there is a list of specs written on the packaging. We summarise it below:
Base Materials: International Association of FSC certified natural forest wood
Dimensions: 85mm X 36mm thick
Power: 0.5W Charging Specifications: 5V 2A
Charging interface: micro USB
——————————–
Panel Material: Acrylic
Dimensions: 233mm X 156mm X5mm
Brightness: 21-3.2LM
Light and temperature: 2700-3000K
Unboxing
1 of 6
The contents include the LED lamp base and the panel, some instruction manuals, the Micro USB power cord. Everything was packed great in a bubble material.
Besides this white maple, there are also other colour options like red cherry and black walnut.
As you can see in the macro shot, there are 9 energy saving LED’s, which have 2700-300K light and temperature, 100,000 hours of use.
There is a Woody logo on the top. As the name itself suggests, the lamp base is made out of natural wood.
Handmade wood base is composed of twelve layers of wood stacked side by side and it is complemented by a micro USB charging port.
On the bottom of the device there are the pads, which let’s the lamp base avoid any scratches to the surface or the device itself.

The top part of the lamp (or may may call it a lamp shade) is made out of transparent material. The lines are actually engraved and seems to be good quality.
Functionality
1 of 4
In order to see the 3D effect, provided by the night lamp, we suggest you to do that in the dark environment.
Conclusions
The good thing about the device is that is is quite well built (we’ll get to that a bit later) and made out of natural wood, which also comes in different colour options. In addition to this, the nigh lamp is made out of two parts, which can be separated and thus can save some storage space while not in use. What is more, since the lamp panel is made out of somewhat acrylic material and it is a separate part, you can touch it while it is in operation with wet hands (some people do that). Moreover, the 3,2700-3000K temperature levels provide warm light in the bedroom or any other room.
On the other hand, there are a few shortcomings. Although the lamp base is said to be hand made (which should make you want to buy it immediately), but the overall quality may get some improvements since there were some gaps between 12 layers of wood. The bigger gap were between the first layer to the Micro USB charging port. Another disadvantage could be that the panel of the lamp may be prone to scratches. We didn’t do any scratch test, thought. However, if you rest the lamp next to the bed or in any other place it would not get scratched by itself. In the end, it seems to be quite interesting, yet unusual solution in this category of products. Still, this may be the night lamp you would not see in every regular store.
Back in December, Meizu unveiled a new brand, Meizu Blue Charm which represented the company’s youthful spirit bringing the best features at an affordable pricetag. At the time of its launch, the company had hinted that there would be a lot more products in its Blue Charm lineup.
We have already seen two important launches in this lineup, namely the Meizu Blue Charm Note and the Meizu M1. Now, latest leaks suggest that Meizu may unveil yet another product in this series, a brand new smartwatch called as the Meizu Blue Charm Watch.
Like always, the first images of the internals of the watch have come up online. While we can’t really confirm whether this is the real deal, it won’t be surprising to see a growing company try out its luck in the wearable industry. Because, almost every major tech manufacturer has released or at least have plans to release a wearable in the market this year.
The alleged image of the watch reveals a round face which is actually what the consumers prefer these days. Time and again, it has been proved that a round face makes a smartwatch much more attractive than a block rectangular design, which is evident from the popularity of Moto 360 and even LG G Watch R. So, if Meizu does plan to release a smartwatch, it would always be better if its round, rather than square.
Unfortunately, apart from this image, we don’t have any details on the features of the Blue Charm Watch. One interesting thing to note here is that there is a page on Weibo for Meizu Blue Charm Watch. While we don’t know when it was created, there are no posts on the page. Still, the page has about 11000 followers. If the Blue Charm smartwatch is indeed real, we expect an announcement before the end of 2015.
Sony does not usually go with Mediatek processors, however an entry on the benchmarking website, GFXbench reveals a new smartphone from the Japanese company running on a Mediatek chip.
The upcoming model with the number E2003/ E2033 features modest specifications, which probably means the company will target the lower mid-range crowd with this phone.
The entry reveals that the Sony E2003 smartphone will run on a Mediatek MT6752 processor based on Cortex A53 architecture with four cores clocked at 1.5Ghz. The chip also comes with the Mali-T760 GPU. The device is quite small and compact. There will be a 4.6-inch display up front with a low qHD (960 x 540 pixels) resolution. Inside, there will be 1GB of RAM onboard with 8GB internal storage. The listing shows that the camera will be of 5MP while the front shooter will be of 2MP. The rear camera will be able to capture videos at 1080p Full HD resolution.
The device is said to run on Android 4.4.4 KitKat, probably with the company’s own skin on top. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS. No information is available whether the phone supports 4G LTE networks.
We don’t know the name of the device yet, but given the specs, it could be a new smartphone in the company’s budget Xperia E series.
Mediatek has just unveiled two new processors in the market, namely the MT6735 and the MT6753. Both the SoCs are built on the 64-bit architecture. The MT6735 will come with a four core architecture while the Mt6753 will be much more powerful thanks to its octa-core architecture.
The highlight of both these chips is probably its support for the new CDMA2000 technology. It supports both TD / FDD-LTE Cat.4 150Mbps, DC-HSPA +, TD-SCDMA, CDMA2000 1x / EVDO Rev.A, EDGE, which is true 4G full Netcom.
The higher end MT6753 comes with eight Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.5Ghz which makes it powerful yet battery efficient at the same time. The integrated Mali T720 GPU will make sure that the its graphic performance is impressive. On the other hand, the MT6735 processor will come with just four Cortex A53 cores.
The MT6753 supports dual-band Wi -Fi 802.11n, and Bluetooth 4.0. Multimedia support include 1080p 30fps H.264 video recording and playback, 1080p 30fps H.265 video playback, 16-megapixel camera, PIP, Self-portrait, display output at 1080p 60fps, and MediaTek MiraVision support.
Since, both the chips support 4G LTE and is targeted at the mid-range market, expect a lot of manufacturers to adopt these two processors in the upcoming smartphones.
Both the processors are expected to be released by the end of Q2 2015.
Meanwhile, here’s a comparison chart of the current Mediatek processors available in the market.
Weibo is a constant source of new leaks and information about upcoming smartphones. Today, we have got some images from this social networking website, which could be of a Windows Phone 10 powered smartphone. The leak reveals a very thin design profile, unlike traditional lumia devices.
According to the image, the phone runs on Windows 10 OS and will be called as the Wei Yan Sofia (Here, Wei Yan is the manufacturer).
The phone in the pictures has a very typical rectangular design, but its thin profile makes it look attractive. Further, the image reveals thin bezels and three capacitive buttons at the bottom. There is a large camera sensor at the back around the middle portion along with LED flash. There back looks slightly curved, or it could be just the image that’s giving that effect. There’s also a speaker grill at the lower portion.
Coming to the specs, the same source reveals that the Sofia smartphone will run on Intel’s low cost Sofia chipset, The name Sofia stands for “Smart or Feature phone with Intel Architecture” and is aimed at the budget market to compete with chipmakers like Mediatek and Qualcomm. It is said that the phone will sport a 5 or inch 1080p display, with 3G and 4G connectivity. There will be 2GB RAM onboard with 32GB storage and 13MP+5MP cameras. It is said that the phone will run on the new Windows Phone 10 OS along with Android 5.0. Yes, the source said that the phone will be dual boot, which frankly makes the overall device too good to be true. So, we would advise you to take this news with a pinch of salt, until any official confirmation.
Atongm is usually known for its smart and cheap accessories for smartphones, tablets and other electronic device. Now, the company has a new smartwatch in the market called as the Atongm W008 which is capable enough to replace your smartphone.
The Atongm W008 smartwatch comes with a 1.54-inch OGS Full Fit capacitive touch display with 240 x 240 resolution. The watch accepts double click to wake up feature too. Despite it’s cheap price tag, the phone watch features a stainless steel shell which makes it look much more premium than it is.
For functions, you get all the standard features on the watch. So, you have a pedometer for sports and health related activity tracking, sleep monitor to keep a track on your sleep cycle and other useful things like anti-lost function and remote camera. The smartwatch also has a camera onboard to take quick snaps.

Overall, the Antongm W008 turns out to be a great cheap smartwatch. The device is currently available from everbuying for just $70.
The CEO of OnePlus has just posted an image on his Weibo account that confirms a release date for the new custom ROM OnePlus is developing. According to what he has posted on the site, OnePlus will release OxygenOS on February 12. The confirmation aligns with previous leaks that suggested the same release date.
Pete Lau posted the new OxygenOS poster that features silhouettes of four persons, OnePlus logo, the name OxygenOS, and a confirmed February 12 release date. He chose Weibo to publicly disclose the release date of OxygenOS. Weibo is a popular Chinese micro-blogging community site. It’s the Twitter of China.
We have previously obtained and posted leaked screenshots of OnePlus OxygenOS that show an emphasis on colorful and flat UI design. While the company did make its own UI for OxygenOS, the screenshots hinted that the company didn’t deviate from the core design philosophy of Android Lollipop, better known as Material Design.
After OnePlus announced that it was going to drop CyanogenMod as the operating system for its OnePlus One and upcoming smartphones, a move that the company had to make after facing legal battles from Micromax in India, OnePlus fans from around the world were wondering what the company could come up with. It announced the name OxygenOS soon afterwards, but didn’t provide details on what’s new with the ROM and when it would be released.
Thanks to the CEO, now we know we will not have to wait much long to meet OxygenOS from OnePlus.
A few days back, ZTE officially unveiled the ZTE Blade S6 flagship smartphone. The company took inspiration from Apple for designing this device and it is clearly evident from the round corners and the sleek look of this particular smartphone.
Today, we take a look at the first unboxing images of this beautiful device. We have already seen the Blade S6 in press images, but its time to see the ZTE Blade S6 unboxing in real life.
At the front there’s the camera and sensors on the top left corner. Then there’s a 5-inch display with 720p resolution covering most part of the front with thin bezels. Finally at the bottom, you can see the trademark Apple home button along with two other capacitive keys.
Coming to the back side, the camera and the LED flash lie to the top left corner. At the bottom, there’s the ZTE logo and the single speaker grill. All the buttons are located on the right side, leaving the left side clean. The overall device is quite well built and looks premium, which is not very common on a phone that sells for less than $250. For ZTE Blade S6 tech specs, check out our announcement article here.
ZTE announced that the phone will be available internationally via China’s Aliexpress. The reseller is currently running a number of promotions for its unveiling which will be on February 10.
