<p><a href="https://www.doogee.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">DOOGEE</a> has made a strong impression at the 2025 Global Sources Mobile Electronics Show, which took place on April 18 in Hong Kong. This year’s theme for DOOGEE was “DOOGEE AI, Dare Different,” and the company lived up to that promise by showing off its latest products. With a mix of rugged smartphones, 5G models, large tablets, and AI-powered wearables, DOOGEE caught the attention of both visitors and the media.</p>

<h2><strong>A Booth Full of Energy and Excitement</strong></h2>

<p>Buyers from different countries, tech enthusiasts, and journalists visited DOOGEE’s booth to check out the new devices. Officials from Hong Kong’s innovation and technology departments also stopped by, showing interest in the company’s AI products and developments.</p>

<h2><strong>Rugged Smartphones: Tough, Smart, and Stylish</strong></h2>

<p>DOOGEE is famous for making rugged smartphones, and this year was no different. They introduced three exciting series for people who want strong phones that can handle the outdoors.</p>

<p><strong>V Max Series</strong><strong><br></strong>The star of this series is the V Max Play, a rugged phone made for adventure lovers and field workers. It comes with a giant 22,000mAh battery, so you don’t have to worry about running out of power. It also has a built-in camping light and is the world’s first rugged phone with an integrated projector, making it perfect for outdoor movies or presentations.</p>

<p><strong>S200 Series</strong><strong><br></strong>The S200 Ultra leads this series with its sharp mecha-inspired look and a special rear AMOLED display. Powered by the Dimensity 7300 chip, this phone is made for smooth gaming and video performance, even when running demanding apps.</p>

<p><strong>Blade Series<br></strong>For those who want a slim and light rugged phone, the Blade GT Play and Blade20 Play are the top choices. The Blade GT Play offers customizable RGB lighting, while the Blade20 Play is designed for loud sound lovers, thanks to its powerful 125dB speaker, earning it the nickname “King of Loud.”</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="791" height="545" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/image-126.png?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-682627" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/image-126.png 791w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/image-126-300x207.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/image-126-768x529.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/image-126-218x150.png 218w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/image-126-696x480.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/image-126-610x420.png 610w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/image-126-100x70.png 100w" sizes="(max-width: 791px) 100vw, 791px" /></figure></div>

<h2><strong>5G Smartphones: Fast, Slim, and Smart</strong></h2>

<p>DOOGEE also brought attention to its 5G lineup. These models offer great performance for both work and play.</p>

<p><strong>Moment Series</strong><strong><br></strong>The Moment60 Series is designed for people who want both toughness and modern style. These phones have a slim rugged body and even a built-in projector. DOOGEE also added silicon anode battery technology to make the battery last longer during projection, which is helpful for both business and fun.</p>

<p><strong>Note59 Series<br></strong>The Note59 Pro+ stands out with a thin 8.6mm frame and powerful specs. It offers 12GB of RAM, up to 512GB of storage, and uses a 6nm high-performance chip. The 120Hz HD+ display makes multitasking, gaming, and streaming smooth and enjoyable.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="816" height="548" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/image-125.png?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-682626" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/image-125.png 816w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/image-125-300x201.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/image-125-768x516.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/image-125-696x467.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/image-125-625x420.png 625w" sizes="(max-width: 816px) 100vw, 816px" /></figure></div>

<h2><strong>Large-Screen Tablets: Built for Work and Creativity</strong></h2>

<p>DOOGEE also introduced its large-screen tablets designed for professionals, students, and creatives.</p>

<p><strong>Tab E3 Pro and Tab E3 Max<br></strong>These tablets are made for people who like big screens and serious performance. The Tab E3 Pro has a 13-inch display, while the Tab E3 Max pushes the size to 14 inches. Both support stylus pens, making them perfect for drawing, note-taking, or editing. With high-resolution screens and long battery life, these tablets are strong tools for creative work and daily productivity.</p>

<div class="wp-block-image"><figure class="aligncenter size-full"><img loading="lazy" width="815" height="545" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/image-127.png?x44794" alt="" class="wp-image-682628" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/image-127.png 815w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/image-127-300x201.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/image-127-768x514.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/image-127-696x465.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/04/image-127-628x420.png 628w" sizes="(max-width: 815px) 100vw, 815px" /></figure></div>

Interestingly, three of the top five 5G smartphone brands in the region were also from China.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-408594 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Vivo_5G_APAC_Q2_2021.jpg?x44794" alt="Vivo" width="480" height="334" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Vivo_5G_APAC_Q2_2021.jpg 480w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Vivo_5G_APAC_Q2_2021-300x209.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/08/Vivo_5G_APAC_Q2_2021-100x70.jpg 100w" sizes="(max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px" /></p>
<p>According to a <em><a href="https://www.strategyanalytics.com/access-services/devices/mobile-phones/emerging-device-technologies/market-data/report-detail/global-5g-smartphone-vendor-market-share-by-region-q2-2021" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Strategy Analytics</a></em> report, the Chinese smartphone maker lead the Asia Pacific market, with an annual shipment growth of a whopping 215 percent year on year. Furthermore, the Asia Pacific 5G handset shipments have also more than doubled since the same period from last year, marking a 110 percent growth annually. Meanwhile, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Xiaomi</a> arrives second in 5G smartphone shipments in the region.</p>
<p>Yiwen Wu, Senior Analyst at Strategy Analytics stated that &#8220;Vivo has grown past Xiaomi, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/oppo/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">OPPO</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Apple</a> over the course of the past year to take the top spot in 5G smartphones. Vivo has capitalized on the decline of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Huawei</a>, which in the year-ago quarter sold more than half of all 5G smartphones in the Asia Pacific region, but has virtually disappeared from the market. The combination of leading technology and affordable prices have made Vivo’s smartphones, such as its <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/vivo-iqoo-u3/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">iQOO U3 5G</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/vivo-iqoo-7/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">iQOO 7 5G</a>, the most popular 5G devices in the region.&#8221;</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-399763 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/vivo-Y72-5G-India-Leak-Featured.jpg?x44794" alt="vivo Y72 5G India Leak Featured" width="4000" height="2250" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/vivo-Y72-5G-India-Leak-Featured.jpg 4000w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/vivo-Y72-5G-India-Leak-Featured-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/vivo-Y72-5G-India-Leak-Featured-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/vivo-Y72-5G-India-Leak-Featured-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/vivo-Y72-5G-India-Leak-Featured-696x392.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/vivo-Y72-5G-India-Leak-Featured-1068x601.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/vivo-Y72-5G-India-Leak-Featured-747x420.jpg 747w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/vivo-Y72-5G-India-Leak-Featured-1920x1080.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 4000px) 100vw, 4000px" /></p>
<p>Notably, other Chinese brands also saw great growth in the region during this time. Similar to Vivo and Xiaomi, Oppo arrived third in 5G smartphone shipments in Asia Pacific market. In other words, the top three brands were Chinese while their recent handset offerings were quite successful in the market. This also marks an explosive rise in demand for 5G phones and an intensifying competition in the region.</p>

The data were drawn from a survey of offline stores and online shoppers across several countries with an appreciable <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/5g">5G</a> infrastructure. More than two-thirds of the persons surveyed overall were planning to buy a 5G smartphone.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/kantar-5g-phones-2.png?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-402855" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/kantar-5g-phones-2.png?x44794" alt="Kantar 5G" width="727" height="550" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/kantar-5g-phones-2.png 727w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/kantar-5g-phones-2-300x227.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/kantar-5g-phones-2-80x60.png 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/kantar-5g-phones-2-696x527.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/kantar-5g-phones-2-555x420.png 555w" sizes="(max-width: 727px) 100vw, 727px" /></a></p>
<p>Smartphones with 5G connectivity are currently the gold standard in the smartphone segment, and the data has shown a growing appetite for a faster and more advanced technology. However, several countries are yet to get the necessary 5G network infrastructure in place, which could require a substantial quantum of resources.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/kantar-5g-phones.png?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-402854" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/kantar-5g-phones.png?x44794" alt="Kantar 5G" width="727" height="550" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/kantar-5g-phones.png 727w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/kantar-5g-phones-300x227.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/kantar-5g-phones-80x60.png 80w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/kantar-5g-phones-696x527.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/kantar-5g-phones-555x420.png 555w" sizes="(max-width: 727px) 100vw, 727px" /></a></p>
<p>The Kantar research covered China, the US, Australia, Japan, the UK, France, Spain, Italy, and Germany. These countries have an established and expanding 5G network infrastructure, thus, budding markets for 5G smartphones. From the data, up to 91% of customers in China preferred or were planning on getting a 5G phone in the next six months. The corresponding percentage in Japan was 55%, and the United States, 74%. Japan was the only country with less than 60% of the surveyed respondents with a preference for buying a 5G smartphone.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/kantar-5g-phones-3.png?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-402856" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/kantar-5g-phones-3.png?x44794" alt="kantar 5G" width="727" height="115" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/kantar-5g-phones-3.png 727w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/kantar-5g-phones-3-300x47.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2021/07/kantar-5g-phones-3-696x110.png 696w" sizes="(max-width: 727px) 100vw, 727px" /></a></p>
<p>A look at sales data from these countries also indicated a strong preference for 5G phones. The sales data for the top 10 smartphone sales in the listed countries were correlated with the responses from the Kantar survey. It showed that 70% of high-end smartphones sold in China had 5G connectivity, while the US, Japan, and Australia indicated a 50% sales threshold for 5G-rated smartphones. The lowest sales percentage came from the top 5 countries in Europe (Germany, UK, France, Italy, and Spain) with 40%.</p>
<p>The Kantar research also showed a growing preference of consumers to pick offline stores to purchase their smartphones compared to online stores. The use of offline stores is gradually picking up in some markets after the coronavirus pandemic led to the total shutdown of offline outlets&#8217; operations last year. The growing preference could be possibly driven by increased vaccination rates across several countries, which means that public places could be open to the citizens, with safety protocols still being observed. Sales data for Q2 2021 has shown single-digit growth from the first quarter of the year. However, the data also indicated that shoppers in China, Australia, and Japan are still unwilling to return to offline shopping.</p>
<p>Global Android sales surpassed that of iPhones, although Apple continues to maintain its position as a top smartphone brand, while <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/samsung">Samsung</a>, <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/oppo">Oppo</a>, <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/sharp">Sharp</a>, and other brands are making inroads across the markets.</p>
<p>As earlier stated, the research only considered countries with some level of 5G network infrastructure and deployment. There are a lot of countries yet to have any 5G deployment.</p>

<p>According to a <a href="https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-01-05/apple-supplier-murata-expects-half-billion-5g-phones-in-new-year" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer"><em>Bloomberg</em> </a>report, the world&#8217;s largest ceramic capacitors maker, which supplier Apple and other smartphone brands, expects the demand for 5G devices to reach 500 million units by the end of this year. This would have major OEMs like Apple, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Samsung</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Xiaomi</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/oppo/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Oppo</a>, and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/vivo/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Vivo</a> try and secure components for their smartphone offerings. The companies would also fight to secure the void left behind by Huawei Technologies.</p>

<p>Murata President, Norio Nakajima, had stated in December 2020 that the company&#8217;s factories will not be taking any break during the holidays to catch up with the growing orders owing to high market demands. The senior official said that &#8220;the situation is most severe with our cutting-edge capacitors for smartphone use.” He further added that &#8220;These handset makers are competing to grab our supply capacity once taken by Huawei, and I am not sure how much of it is backed up by their actual production forecast. I feel like the move is overheated, and thus expect their orders would drop in February and March.”</p>

<p>The Apple supplier&#8217;s president said that the industry had reached 300 million 5G smartphones during the current fiscal year, and is expecting the upcoming year to have this figure reach at least 500 million. Furthermore, Murata is also preparing on making capital expenditure to keep pace with the growing demand as well. Interestingly, analysts see this projection from Murata&#8217;s chief as &#8220;too conservative&#8221; believing that demand for 5G handsets, especially from Apple, to not subside anytime soon and will continue to surpass expectations.</p>

And China&#8217;s <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei">Huawei</a> has the same number of devices as Samsung in the top-10 despite facing pressure from all sides.</p>

<p>The report primarily <a href="https://www.counterpointresearch.com/top-selling-5g-smartphone-sept-2020/">talks</a> about the Top-10 5G smartphones and their market share Globally in September. To begin with, the list has about seven devices from Chinese OEMs like <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei">Huawei</a>, <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/oppo">OPPO</a>, <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/vivo">Vivo</a>, <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/honor">Honor</a>. That&#8217;s a no-brainer considering the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/11/13/china-700000-5g-base-stations/">country&#8217;s 5G expansion</a> is way ahead of the world. However, what is surprising is the presence of Huawei which has three devices in the list equalling rival Samsung.</p>
<p>Precisely, the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-p40-pro">Huawei P40 Pro</a>, <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei-nova-7">Nova 7</a>, <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/huawei-p40">P40</a> occupy second, third, and fifth positions with 4.5%, 4.3%, and 3.8% market share respectively. This is a healthy trend for a company that is<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/23/huawei-sharp-decline-growth-due-to-us-sanctions/"> facing the heat</a> elsewhere. In fact, the company recently led China where <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/30/china-smartphone-market-q3-2020-counterpoint-research/">over 50% of 5G devices</a> accounted for the total units sold in Q3. It&#8217;s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/11/17/huawei-sells-honor-subsidiary-to-zhixin-new-information-technology-co-ltd/">ex-sister brand</a> Honor also has an Honor 30S at the bottom with a 2.8% share.</p>
<p>Earlier this year, 5G was still available in only a few devices Globally and Hence, it didn&#8217;t penetrate deep into the markets. However, if you take China, it started the 5G rollout <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/05/21/5g-rollout-china-kick-off-october/">last October</a> and is <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/11/17/china-pushes-6g-us-struggles-with-5g-networking/">already pushing for 6G</a> when other countries are struggling to adopt 5G better.</p>
<p><figure id="attachment_355047" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-355047" style="width: 1159px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-355047" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/top-10-5g-smartphone-sales-sept-2020.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="1159" height="601" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/top-10-5g-smartphone-sales-sept-2020.jpg 1159w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/top-10-5g-smartphone-sales-sept-2020-300x156.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/top-10-5g-smartphone-sales-sept-2020-768x398.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/top-10-5g-smartphone-sales-sept-2020-1024x531.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/top-10-5g-smartphone-sales-sept-2020-696x361.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/top-10-5g-smartphone-sales-sept-2020-1068x554.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/11/top-10-5g-smartphone-sales-sept-2020-810x420.jpg 810w" sizes="(max-width: 1159px) 100vw, 1159px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-355047" class="wp-caption-text">Credit: Counterpoint</figcaption></figure></p>
<p>Besides, the report also shows budget smartphones like <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oppo-a72-5g/">Oppo A72 5G</a>, and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/05/26/vivo-y70s-5g-launched-with-exynos-880-and-48mp-triple-cameras-for-1998-yuan-280/">Vivo Y70s 5G</a>. This suggests that the 5G is entering into the affordable segment and breaking the notion of a &#8220;premium feature&#8221;. As the report says, this has become possible due to the mid-range 5G SoC of <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/qualcomm">Qualcomm</a>, <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/mediatek">MediaTek</a>. That said, the report predicts that Apple will play a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/07/global-smartphone-shipments-growth-2021/">big role in commercializing 5G</a> in North America, Europe after the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/iphone-12-series">iPhone 12 series.</a></p>
<p>Having said that, the list also has Samsung whose <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-note20-ultra-5g/">Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G</a> sits at the top with a 5.0% market share. It has two more devices the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-s20-plus-5g/">Galaxy S20+ 5G</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-note-20-5g/">Note 20 5G</a> with 4.0%, and 2.9% global share respectively.</p>
<p>In any case, this is a welcoming trend as there are more than 200 5G models currently compared to only 50 in Q1. Overall, the growth of the <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/5g">5G</a> models has increased by 300% in Q3 2020 compared to Q1. And as affordable 5G devices launch, and continue to grab attention, the contribution of top-10 devices in the total 5G sales has shrunk to 37% in September compared to 93% in Jan 2020.</p>
<h6 class="related" style="text-align: center"><strong>UP NEXT: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/11/19/redmi-note-9-5g-series-likely-to-debut-on-november-26/">Redmi Note 9 5G series likely to debut on November 2</a></strong></h6>

<h3><strong>Huawei Mate 40 Series</strong></h3>
<p><figure id="attachment_341272" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-341272" style="width: 1680px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-341272" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Huawei-Mate-40-Pro.jpg?x44794" alt="Huawei Mate 40 Pro CAD Renders" width="1680" height="1055" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Huawei-Mate-40-Pro.jpg 1680w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Huawei-Mate-40-Pro-300x188.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Huawei-Mate-40-Pro-768x482.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Huawei-Mate-40-Pro-1024x643.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Huawei-Mate-40-Pro-696x437.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Huawei-Mate-40-Pro-1068x671.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/Huawei-Mate-40-Pro-669x420.jpg 669w" sizes="(max-width: 1680px) 100vw, 1680px" /><figcaption id="caption-attachment-341272" class="wp-caption-text">Huawei Mate 40 Pro CAD Renders</figcaption></figure></p>
<p>First up, is the most important launch of the year, the Huawei Mate 40 series. After a tussle with the US, Huawei is restricting itself inside China lately. Besides, several rumors strongly <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/01/huawei-mate-40-first-batch-sale-late-october/">indicate</a> that the next iteration of the Mate series- Mate 40, Mate 40 Pro, Mate 40 Pro+, and a Mate 40 RS Porsche Special Edition will go on sale by late October in China. Also, the Pro variant will probably have a rear-cameras <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/05/photos-of-huawei-mate-40-pro-cases-reveal-a-unique-camera-arrangement/">arranged</a> in arc-shape. The SoC will likely be the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/kirin-9000/">Kirin 9000</a> but the base variant could sport a slightly less powerful 9000E. We can expect other features like 5G, punch-hole AMOLED display, wireless charging, big battery, and run EMUI 11 out-of-the-box.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3><strong>Oppo Find X2 League of Legends S10 Limited Edition</strong></h3>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-346285" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/006BlblIgy1gjfh0eacg9j30n00kcq50.jpg?x44794" alt="Oppo" width="828" height="732" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/006BlblIgy1gjfh0eacg9j30n00kcq50.jpg 828w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/006BlblIgy1gjfh0eacg9j30n00kcq50-300x265.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/006BlblIgy1gjfh0eacg9j30n00kcq50-768x679.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/006BlblIgy1gjfh0eacg9j30n00kcq50-696x615.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/006BlblIgy1gjfh0eacg9j30n00kcq50-475x420.jpg 475w" sizes="(max-width: 828px) 100vw, 828px" /></p>
<p>Oppo&#8217;s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oppo-find-x2-2/">Find X2</a> will most likely get a special edition with the theme of the popular MOBA title League of Legends. As per the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/06/oppo-find-x2-league-of-legends-limited-edition/">report</a>, the Find X2 League of Legends S10 Limited Edition will probably launch on October 12 in China. It will be accompanied by two Oppo Watch with similar themes. While the news is yet to break officially, leaked posters show revamped rears with the green coating with world championship branding. The S10 reportedly indicates the 10th competitive season of the game.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3><strong>Redmi K30T and Redmi Note 10 5G</strong></h3>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-344864" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/MI-10T-5G-renders-c.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="1340" height="929" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/MI-10T-5G-renders-c.jpg 1340w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/MI-10T-5G-renders-c-300x208.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/MI-10T-5G-renders-c-768x532.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/MI-10T-5G-renders-c-1024x710.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/MI-10T-5G-renders-c-100x70.jpg 100w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/MI-10T-5G-renders-c-218x150.jpg 218w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/MI-10T-5G-renders-c-696x483.jpg 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/MI-10T-5G-renders-c-1068x740.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/09/MI-10T-5G-renders-c-606x420.jpg 606w" sizes="(max-width: 1340px) 100vw, 1340px" /></p>
<p>While Xiaomi is mum regarding the Redmi Note series after the Note 8 Pro in China, few rumors <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/09/30/redmi-note-10-5g-with-snapdragon-750g-could-be-launching-soon/">indicate</a> that the Mi 10T series from Global markets will land in China under Redmi branding. First, the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-10t-ite">Mi 10T Lite</a> with Snapdragon 750G 5G could be rebranded as Redmi Note 10 5G in China. Next, rumors <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/01/alleged-redmi-k30-series-phone-receives-3c-certification-in-china/">say</a> that the Mi 10T could become Redmi K30T in China. The 10T has a 6.67-inch FHD+ LCD display, Snapdragon 865 SoC, 5,000mAh battery with 33W charging. And the 10T Lite has Snapdragon 750G overseas but few rumors say it might sport Dimensity 820 5G. With Mi 10T debuting in India this month, we can expect Xiaomi to bring it to its home country soon.</p>

Switzerland surpassed Kuwait with 426 cities and towns that have at least 80 percent of 5G coverage with the number further expanding to 535 by May.</p>
<h6 class="related"><strong>Editor&#8217;s Pick: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/10/02/uk-germany-spain-consumers-smartphone-buying-preference/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">UK consumers prefer buying phones offline while those in Germany &amp; Spain have shifted to online</a></strong></h6>
<p>Furthermore, Omdia pointed out that device availability has been limited, which is the major hindering factor people&#8217;s exposure to the new generation of telecom networking. At the moment, a good example would be smartphones, with 5G enabled handsets only making up a fraction of the overall market, despite shipments growing immensely in recent months. The report revealed that South Korea is currently at the top with 5.88 million 5G enabled devices or about 10 percent of all that is being used in the country.</p>

<p>The United Kingdom is second in Europe and Omdia acknowledged the UK Government investing into nationwide Gigabit coverage. It is pledging £1.1 billion in investments for 5G, including £400 million for the supporting infrastructure in new fixed and mobile networks as well. Carriers are also readying 5G launches of their own, as regulators auction 5G spectrums despite the major impacts on various economies due to the Coronavirus pandemic.</p>

The company currently has a hold of nearly half of the smartphone market share in the region and is one of the leaders in the 5G market as well.</p>
<p>According to a new report by <a href="https://www.counterpointresearch.com/one-three-smartphones-sold-5g-phone-china-q2-2020/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Counterpoint</a>, the Chinese tech giant accounts for 46 percent of all smartphone sales in China. This amounts to more than the market share of its rivals including <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/oppo/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Oppo</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/vivo/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Vivo</a>, and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Xiaomi</a> combined. It also marks the highest market share held by Huawei in its entire history in China, with sales being 14 percent higher than the same period back in 2019.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-334200 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Screenshot-19.png?x44794" alt="Huawei" width="869" height="540" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Screenshot-19.png 869w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Screenshot-19-300x186.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Screenshot-19-768x477.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Screenshot-19-356x220.png 356w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Screenshot-19-696x432.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Screenshot-19-676x420.png 676w" sizes="(max-width: 869px) 100vw, 869px" /></p>
<p>Notably, the news arrives during the time where Huawei&#8217;s products have been criticized and shunned in various western countries. Furthermore, the company&#8217;s international sales have declined sharply as well. However, Huawei has invested heavily in its home country where it is still growing strong despite the ongoing <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/coronavirus/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">coronavirus</a> pandemic and scrutiny.</p>
<h6 class="related"><strong>Editor&#8217;s Pick: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/07/28/realme-c15-with-13mp-quad-cameras-6000mah-battery-and-18w-fast-charging-launch-for-137/">Realme C15 with 13MP quad cameras, 6,000mAh battery and 18W fast charging debuts for ~$137</a></strong></h6>
<p>This also arrives after the company lost <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/05/18/tsmc-halts-new-huawei-orders/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">TSMC as its chip supplier due to US sanctions</a>. In China, the smartphone market has declined by a total of 17 percent, with competitors like Vivo losing 29 percent market share, Oppo witnessing a 31 percent decline, and Xiaomi falling by 35 percent in the same period. The decline is also primarily due to the viral outbreak, although, the situation is better than in early 2020.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-334201 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Screenshot-20.png?x44794" alt="Huawei" width="715" height="646" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Screenshot-20.png 715w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Screenshot-20-300x271.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Screenshot-20-696x629.png 696w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/Screenshot-20-465x420.png 465w" sizes="(max-width: 715px) 100vw, 715px" /></p>
<p>One of the segments where Huawei dominates is the 5G handset market. The company has a foothold of about 60 percent for 5G devices in China, where the most number of 5G enabled smartphones are sold. Interestingly, one in every three smartphones sold in China was 5G ready. Similar to Huawei, even <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/apple/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Apple</a> made great strides in this period, with its growth being even higher than the Chinese brand, reaching a 32 percent rise year on year.</p>

Research firm <a href="https://www.trendforce.com/presscenter/news/20200722-10398.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">TrendForce</a> project that the Chinese company will lead the 5G smartphone market this year against all odds.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/smartphone-production.png?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-333613" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/smartphone-production.png?x44794" alt="" width="554" height="330" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/smartphone-production.png 554w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/smartphone-production-300x179.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 554px) 100vw, 554px" /></a></p>
<p>5G development has been rapid in China due to the government&#8217;s aggressive approach in proliferating 5G base stations and network coverage across the country. Thus, 5G rolled out in China earlier than in other countries. This also resulted in Chinese smartphone manufacturers releasing 5G phones earlier than competitors. Chinese OEMs hold a 75% share in the global 5G smartphone market in 1H20.</p>
<p>TrendForce indicates that, aside from the various Android-based smartphone brands, Apple’s new models will also join the ranks of 5G smartphones. Given the total smartphone production forecast of 1.24 billion units in 2020, 5G handset production is expected to reach 235 million units, an 18.9% penetration rate.</p>
<p>Chinese brands are expected to occupy four out of the top six spots of 5G smartphone brands ranked by production volume. An analysis of the projected top six smartphone brands ranked by 5G smartphone production volume shows Huawei firmly sitting in the first place. Huawei has shifted its focus to the domestic Chinese market under the impact of U.S. sanctions and in preparation for China’s active 5G commercialization efforts. The company is expected to produce about 74 million 5G smartphones this year.</p>
<p><div class="su-note" style="border-color:#e5e5e5;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;"><div class="su-note-inner su-u-clearfix su-u-trim" style="background-color:#ffffff;border-color:#ffffff;color:#333333;border-radius:3px;-moz-border-radius:3px;-webkit-border-radius:3px;"><strong>Editor&#8217;s Pick:</strong> <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/07/05/xiaomi-launches-the-walkingpad-s1-with-a-more-compact-design-on-indiegogo/"><b>Xiaomi launches the WalkingPad S1 Treadmill with a more compact design on Indiegogo</b></a></div></div></p>
<p>Apple’s yearly 5G smartphone production is expected to total about 70 million units in 2020, which lands the company in second place. However, 5G functions will increase the production cost of smartphones accordingly. If Apple decides to directly reflect this added cost on the retail prices of the iPhone 12 series, it may lower its consumers’ willingness to purchase, in turn affecting the sales performances of the new iPhones.</p>
<p>Samsung has been experiencing setbacks in the Chinese market in recent years. Although these setbacks have not seriously affected its global market share and revenue, they have considerably slowed Samsung’s growth in the 5G smartphone market. Samsung’s 5G smartphone production this year is forecasted at 29 million units, placing the company in third place globally. Vivo, OPPO (including OnePlus, OPPO, and Realme) and Xiaomi are tied for fourth place.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/smartphone-production-2.png?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-333614" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/smartphone-production-2.png?x44794" alt="" width="425" height="244" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/smartphone-production-2.png 425w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/smartphone-production-2-300x172.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 425px) 100vw, 425px" /></a></p>
<p>As Huawei’s aggressive domestic expansion in the past few years has compressed the market shares of the three brands in the Chinese market, they have been actively focusing on increasing overseas market shares to maintain their yearly production performances. Vivo, OPPO, and Xiaomi’s yearly 5G smartphone production volumes are projected to reach about 21 million, 20 million, and 19 million units, respectively.</p>
<p>Mid-to-low end 5G chipsets released by AP suppliers are expected to raise the penetration rate of 5G smartphones in 2021. MediaTek is expected to lead this push with the company rumoured to announce its low-end 5G chipset later this month.</p>

With the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/5g">5G technology</a> going mainstream, the pricing for the 5G devices is also decreasing, making way for mass adaptation. In fact, we have already started getting 5G phones around the price range of 2,000 yuan (~$286).</p>
<p>While <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/samsung">Samsung</a> has been credited with increasing the 5G smartphone market share in the United States, the lead in the Chinese market is held by Huawei. And not just the China market, it is also leading globally.</p>

<p>A report from <a href="http://phone.cnmo.com/news/688558.html">CNMO</a> reveals that during the Huawei Cloud Internet 5G Innovation Summit, the company announced that in Q1 2020 in China, it reached 63 percent of the 5G <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/smartphone-shipments">smartphone shipments</a> in its home country China and has a 5G smartphone market share of over 40 percent globally.</p>
<p>Huawei also said that the company managed to ship 15 million units of 5G mobile phones in the first quarter of the year. With such numbers, the company has surpassed the South Korean giant Samsung for the lead position.</p>

<p>Apart from increased internet speed, 5G technology is the game-changer and will be quite crucial for several other technologies, including cloud computing, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/ai">AI</a>, etc. While the 5G infrastructure is being developed in several countries, commercial operations have already begun in select countries, including China, the USA, and South Korea.</p>
<p>As more and more countries join the list of commercial 5G operations, the costing for the 5G smartphones is also expected to go down. In the near future, almost all the smartphones getting launched will be 5G-compatible, as the adoption of 5G increases.</p>

Along with China, the phone was also launched in India at the same time, making it the country&#8217;s first 5G smartphone.</p>
<p>During the X50 Pro 5G smartphone launched in Madrid, Spain, the company&#8217;s country manager Emilio Alvarez shared some details about the company&#8217;s plans when it comes to 5G devices for this year.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-306865 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/realme-2020-5g-phones.jpg?x44794" alt="Realme 5G Smartphones 2020" width="727" height="397" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/realme-2020-5g-phones.jpg 727w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/realme-2020-5g-phones-300x164.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/realme-2020-5g-phones-696x380.jpg 696w" sizes="(max-width: 727px) 100vw, 727px" /></p>
<p>He has revealed that <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/oppo">OPPO</a>-backed Realme is planning to introduce at least five more smartphones this year to support the next-generation network, as a part of a greater plan to build a 5G ecosystem.</p>
<p>The 5G devices from the brand will be across price segments and the company believes there will be demand for the feature in lower market segments. Surprisingly, Realme will cease to introduce 4G devices in China and will only launch <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/5g">5G</a> smartphones as part of a strategy called “All in 5G”.</p>
<p>Currently, the company has two 5G smartphones in the market &#8212; Realme X50 5G and its upgraded model &#8212; Realme X50 Pro 5G. The newly launched Pro model comes with a 6.44 Full HD+ display with 90Hz refresh rate and dual punch-hole cutout.</p>

<p>In the camera department, there&#8217;s a quad-camera setup on the back that features a 64-megapixel main lens, a 12-megapixel telephoto lens, an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 2-megapixel portrait lens. On the front side, it comes with <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/sony">Sony</a> IMX616 32-megapixel camera sensor and an 8-megapixel ultrawide lens.</p>

The report predicts that global shipments of 5G-enabled phones will peak at 199 million shipments worldwide. This will translate to an estimated 15% of all smartphone shipments. This is a huge leap from the 1% market share enjoyed by 5G phones in 2019.</p>
<p><figure id="attachment_295537" aria-describedby="caption-attachment-295537" style="width: 639px" class="wp-caption aligncenter"><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/xiaomi-5G-logo.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-295537" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/xiaomi-5G-logo.jpg?x44794" alt="5G" width="639" height="440" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/xiaomi-5G-logo.jpg 639w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/xiaomi-5G-logo-300x207.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/xiaomi-5G-logo-100x70.jpg 100w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/xiaomi-5G-logo-218x150.jpg 218w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/xiaomi-5G-logo-610x420.jpg 610w" sizes="(max-width: 639px) 100vw, 639px" /></a><figcaption id="caption-attachment-295537" class="wp-caption-text">5G will be at the forefront of new technologies</figcaption></figure></p>
<p>The report also estimates that China, the United States, South Korea, Japan and Germany will account for 90% of all 5G smartphone sales. This is, no doubt related to the roll-out of 5G services in those countries.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/5g.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-306487" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/5g.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="640" height="399" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/5g.jpg 640w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/5g-300x187.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></a></p>
<p>Strategy Analytics equally recognised that the deadly Coronavirus epidemic presently ravaging some parts of China will have an effect on 5G phone shipments. Of particular interest, is the disclosure that most of the shipments will happen in the second half of 2020 as the first half will witness slower than expected shipments for smartphones supporting the next-gen network standard.</p>
<p>In addition, the report recognised India and Indonesia as the two important markets lagging behind in 5G adoption rates as they are not expected to have mass-market 5G networks for at least another year.</p>
<p>Recall that <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/10/11/5g-smartphones-sales-could-surpass-1-billion-by-2025-strategy-analytics/">Strategy Analytics had earlier forecasted</a> that 5G phone sales by 2025 could surpass 1billion units globally as more <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2019/08/22/affordable-nokia-5g-phone-coming-in-2020/">affordable 5G phones get launched</a>.</p>

While there are already several 5G devices in the market, almost every one of them is in the premium segment.</p>
<p>Smartphone makers are currently working on bringing down the cost of 5G phones and thanks to the new chipsets from <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/qualcomm">Qualcomm</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/mediatek">MediaTek</a>, some of the manufacturers have managed to launch mid-range 5G smartphones.</p>
<p>However, Chinese giant Huawei&#8217;s President for 5G product line, Yang Chaobin believes that 5G smartphones priced around $150 are expected to get launched by the end of 2020 or in early 2021.</p>

The company <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2020/01/15/huawei-global-5g-smartphone-shipments-2019/">recently announced</a> that its total worldwide 5G smartphone shipments have exceeded the mark of 6.9 million units.</p>
<p>According to a research agency in China, an estimated five million <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/5g">5G</a> capable smartphones were sold in December 2019 alone and the figures are expected to rise further. It is expected that more than 20 percent of the smartphones under the 2000 Yuan (roughly $290) will be 5G-enabled this year. By 2021, the same statistics are expected to be applicable across the globe.</p>
<p>While several companies have launched 5G smartphones in the market, most of them are exclusive to the Chinese market only, which includes the likes of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi">Xiaomi</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/vivo">Vivo</a>, and Huawei. This is also because China has already started offering commercial 5G services, the only country to do so apart from South Korea and United States.</p>
<p>As per the report, local OEMs in China are expected to sell over 150 million 5G smartphone units in 2020 while the global smartphone market sees a marginal market rise of 0.7 percent overall.</p>

Now, a new report from Chinese analysts suggests that 20 percent of all mid range smartphones will support <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/category/5g/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">5G networking</a>.</p>
<p>According to a research agency in China, an estimated 5 million 5G capable smartphones were sold in December 2019 alone and the figures are expected to rise further. <p>As of right now, most 5G smartphones that are sold are mostly concentrated in China and are exclusive to the local market. The best examples of this are Huawei, Vivo and Xiaomi&#8217;s 5G handset offerings that are not available anywhere else in the world (eg: <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-9-pro-5g/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Xiaomi Mi 9 Pro</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/vivo-iqoo-pro/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Vivo IQOO</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-nova-6-5g/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Huawei Nova 6</a>). Notably, Huawei and its subsidiary Honor do not ship with Google services to markets where 5G is available, while Vivo is yet to expand in the European Regions, The Middle East or even the US.</p>

<p>A few other OEMs like Samsung, OnePlus, and Oppo are more broad with the availability of their respective 5G smartphones. Devices like <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oneplus-7-pro-5g/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">OnePlus 7 Pro 5G</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oppo-reno-5g/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Oppo Reno 5G</a>, and the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/samsung-galaxy-s10-5g-sd855/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Galaxy S10 5G</a> are great examples that are available in United Kingdom, Germany, Finland, UAE and more.</p>

<p>In China alone, local OEMs expect to sell over 150 million 5G smartphone units in 2020 while the global smartphone market sees a marginal market rise of 0.7 percent overall. The growth of 5G advancements is being accredited to MediaTek and its affordable Dimensity lineup of 5G chipsets. Now, thanks to its quick grasp on the early stages of the newer and faster bandwidth, the company leads the 5G smartphone market in Q3 of 2019.</p>

<p>According to a new report, the South Korean tech giant shipped 3.2 million 5G smartphones in the third quarter of 2019. This number represents 74 percent of the total of 4.3 million units sold in the global market. Furthermore, Samsung&#8217;s 5G smartphone shipments have essentially doubled in the third quarter in comparison to the 1.5 million units shipped in the second quarter of 2019; which also saw it hold a massive lead with 83 percent share in total 5G smartphones shipments.</p>

<p>Gerrit Schneemann, senior analyst, smartphones, at IHS Markit stated that the company capitalized on its home field advantage with the faster bandwidth. Owing to South Korea&#8217;s market developing rapidly, the company managed to take advantage of the early stages of 5G networking integration in the country. Notably, Samsung had quickly introduced 5G capabilities in its devices ranges giving it the largest 5G smartphone portfolio amongst any other brand.</p>

<p>South Korea is advancing ahead with its 5G market. The country has already planned its wireless operators officially commencing service in April 2020. This has led to Samsung and even <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/brand/lg/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">LG</a>, ranked second in the 5G smartphone market, to take initiatives with aggressive promotions within the country for the newer and faster bandwidth. It has allowed both companies to largely benefit from the bandwidth advancement and also take leading spots in the 5G market as a whole.</p>

<p>Others in the 5G market include brands like <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Xiaomi</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/brand/huawei/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Huawei</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/brand/oppo/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Oppo</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/brand/vivo/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Vivo</a>, and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/brand/zte/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">ZTE</a> from China. These brands represented about 17 percent of the total 5G shipments with 700,000 units in the second and third quarters. As 5G services begin to roll out in China, it is expected that the aforementioned brands will see a drastic rise in the overall standings and metrics.</p>

A lot of their smartphones in the past <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/11/04/oppo-r11s-crosses-300k-registrations/">couple of years have been targeted to sell well</a>, but they were not exactly the type that will make you go wow. That kind of changed this year, especially with the release of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oppo-find-x/">OPPO Find X</a>, which features a full screen display and a slide up camera housing. Another highlight tech from OPPO this year has been <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/super-vooc">Super VOOC</a> fast charging that supports up to 50W charging! Given its release on the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/08/23/oppo-r17-pro-super-vooc-fast-charge/">OPPO R17 Pro</a>, it became a lot cheaper for consumers to get this incredibly quick fast charging feature. Now, OPPO&#8217;s assistant VP, Shen Yiren reveals some key details about the company&#8217;s upcoming innovations.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/0317050603335Gnetwork.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-166955" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/0317050603335Gnetwork.jpg?x44794" alt="5g network" width="640" height="360" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/0317050603335Gnetwork.jpg 640w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/0317050603335Gnetwork-300x169.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></a></p>
<p>Shen reveals that OPPO&#8217;s 5G development is going well and it&#8217;s likely going to be the first manufacturer to mass produce a 5G smartphone in 2019. OPPO&#8217;s R&amp;D department has been busy in the past few years churning out tech such as triple cameras, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/08/14/oppo-r17-pro-confirmed-to-arrive-with-variable-aperture/">variable aperture</a>, AI, Face Unlock, and even Super VOOC in its 2018 smartphones. So, its quite possible that the company is nearing the release of a 5G smartphone as well. If you recall, OPPO had officially announced partnership with <a href="https://gadgets.ndtv.com/mobiles/news/oppo-qualcomm-partner-on-5g-mobile-phones-1806011">Qualcomm for 5G solutions earlier this year</a>. Further, the company also setup a research i<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/04/08/oppo-creates-research-institute-to-develop-ai-and-5g-technology/">nstitute back in March dedicated to 5G and AI</a>. If these moves don&#8217;t convince you that OPPO can release the first <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/5g/">5G</a> smartphone, then know that the company demoed the &#8220;First Live 5G 3D video call&#8221; <a href="https://venturebeat.com/2018/05/11/oppo-demos-first-5g-live-3d-video-call-promises-phones-by-early-2019/">in May this year</a> in collaboration with Qualcomm.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>OPPO has stated <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/01/26/oppo-will-among-first-manufacturers-release-5g-smartphone-ceo/">multiple times that its first 5G smartphone</a> should be out by early 2019. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/02/26/huawei-will-launch-first-5g-smartphone-2019/">Huawei</a>, ZTE, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/07/31/lenovo-phone-with-sd855-5g-connectivity-coming-says-lenovo-vp/">Lenovo</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/08/15/lg-to-bring-its-first-5g-smartphone-in-h1-2019/">LG</a>, are all looking forward to release their first 5G smartphones in 2019, so it would be really interesting to see who manages to release their big guns first in the market.</p>

But according to new revelations by <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/qualcomm">Qualcomm</a>, 5G devices may be launched even in 2018.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-178983" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Broadcomm-Qualcomm.jpg?x44794" alt="Qualcomm" width="1068" height="561" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Broadcomm-Qualcomm.jpg 1068w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Broadcomm-Qualcomm-300x158.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Broadcomm-Qualcomm-768x403.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Broadcomm-Qualcomm-1024x538.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1068px) 100vw, 1068px" /></p>
<p>According to the Senior Vice President Durga Prasad Malladi in an interview with the Economic Times, aggressive OEM partners are pegging to launch their first 5G smartphones before the end of this year. The most important carriers should also be ready to provide the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/5g/">5G</a> connectivity this year. Here&#8217;s what he said:</p>
<blockquote><p>Some operators in fact have gone on the record and stated that they would like to commercialize in late 2018 itself. We are doing everything that we can to help them.</p></blockquote>
<p>Carriers will offer at least 2 or 4 Gbps speed: in case you don&#8217;t know, an actual 4G connectivity can barely break down the Gigabit wall. Qualcomm&#8217;s Senior VP thinks that 5G connectivity will drastically change the way we do things on the internet as its high speeds will revolutionize everything. 5G smartphones will not be the only devices to support this connectivity: we also expect to see ARM-based laptops and more.</p>

<p>No doubt, the smartphone will be a flagship model but no mention was made of the actual name. We expect the model to be the Huawei Mate 30 which may likely be the next model after the Mate 20 which is expected to launch this year. A picture of the Powerpoint presentation reveals Huawei&#8217;s 2019 timeline to include the release of the world&#8217;s first 5G Customer-premises equipment or customer-provided equipment (CPE) in the first quarter of 2019. That would be followed by the launch of a 5G Mobile WiFi modem in Q2 2019. The big one is the launch of Huawei&#8217;s 5G smartphone in H2 2019.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/huawei-2.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-186317" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/huawei-2.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="600" height="333" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/huawei-2.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/huawei-2-300x167.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>

<p>The smartphone used to represent Huawei&#8217;s 5G phone seems to be the Mate 10 Pro with its bezel-less design. The device is also shown to have a Kirin chip integrated with a Balong baseband.  Huawei plans to increase its 5G connection services to 1.1 billion users by 2025. This isn&#8217;t limited to smartphone users but also to vehicles which integrate 5G technology.</p>

Today, <a href="http://www.gizmochina.com/tag/qualcomm/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Qualcomm</a> has confirmed that at least 18 different smartphone manufacturing companies will be launching Snapdragon X50 5G modem enabled smartphones. Moreover, the U.S.-based chip maker has confirmed that various telecom service providers from across the world will be starting the trail run of 5G networks soon.</p>
<p>The Snapdragon X50 5G NR (New Radio) mobile modem chipset can attain download speeds of several gigabits. In October 2017, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/10/17/qualcomm-successfully-demonstrates-5g-connectivity-showcases-5g-reference-smartphone-design/">Qualcomm had unveiled the new 5G modem</a> and confirmed that it would be commercially available during the first half of 2019. Now that Qualcomm has released press releases for the carriers and smartphone manufacturers that will be supporting and releasing 5G smartphones featuring Snapdragon X50 modem, it seems that the company is well on track of fulfilling the promise of making 5G phones available in 2019.</p>
<p>The smartphone OEMs that are working with Qualcomm to launch phones with Snapdragon X50 5G modem next year are Asus, Fujitsu Limited, Fujitsu Connected Technologies Limited, HMD Global (Nokia), HTC, Inseego/Novatel Wireless, LG, NetComm Wireless, NETGEAR, OPPO, Sharp Corporation, Sierra Wireless, Sony Mobile, Telit, vivo, Wingtech, WNC, Xiaomi and ZTE.</p>
<p>Two of the major smartphone manufacturing companies namely, Apple and Huawei are missing from the list. Samsung has signed a separate cross-license partnership with Qualcomm recently which may also include plans to launch 5G enabled Samsung phones soon. Lenovo too is absent from the list.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-172430" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Qualcomm-X50-5G-NR-Modem-Launch.jpg?x44794" alt="Qualcomm-X50-5G-NR-Modem-Launch" width="797" height="484" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Qualcomm-X50-5G-NR-Modem-Launch.jpg 797w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Qualcomm-X50-5G-NR-Modem-Launch-300x182.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/Qualcomm-X50-5G-NR-Modem-Launch-768x466.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 797px) 100vw, 797px" /></p>
<p>The list of select global mobile operators that will conducing live and OTA mobile 5G NR trials include AT&amp;T, British Telecom, China Telecom, China Mobile, China Unicom, Deutsche Telekom, KDDI, KT Corporation, LG Uplus, NTT DOCOMO, Orange, Singtel, SK Telecom, Sprint, Telstra, TIM, Verizon and Vodafone Group.</p>

<p>Which smartphone company will be releasing the first 5G smartphone next year? OPPO CEO Tony Chen had confirmed in the previous month that it will be <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/01/26/oppo-will-among-first-manufacturers-release-5g-smartphone-ceo/">among the first manufacturers to release a 5G smartphone</a>. ZTE CEO Lixin Cheng has recently claimed that a 5G ZTE phone would be launching <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/01/14/zte-plans-launch-5g-smartphone-us-2019/">at the end of 2018 or early 2019</a>. Two months ago, Huawei CEO Yu Richard said that a 5G Huawei smartphone would be releasing in the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/12/04/huawei-release-5g-smartphones-2019/">second half of 2019</a>.</p>
<p>5G smartphones featuring Snapdragon X50 will allow users to connect to public Wi-Fi without login. Such phones will offer ultrafast downloads, high-speed internet browsing, topnotch quality video and voice calls, lag free streaming of 360-degreee video and instant cloud access. Qualcomm will be also bringing 5G connectivity on other devices like Always Connected PCs, VR and AR.</p>

The conference was an opportunity for the giants in the Chinese tech industry to roll out their plans for the future in terms of research and development (R&amp;D) for the industry. During the conference, <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/huawei">Huawei</a>&#8216;s CEO Yu Chengdong was one of the speakers, sharing the same podium with Xiaomi&#8217;s CEO, Lei Jun who we reported earlier to have hinted of his firm&#8217;s plans to venture in AI on its smartphones from next year.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/huawei.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-160544" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/huawei.jpg?x44794" alt="Huawei CEO Yu Chengdong" width="600" height="375" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/huawei.jpg 600w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/huawei-300x188.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 600px) 100vw, 600px" /></a></p>
<p>Huawei&#8217;s CEO on his part hinted that the internet hardware and smartphone giant will launch its 5G smartphone for the market in the second half of 2019. Obviously, by 2019, 5G technology would have been perfected and rolled out by a lot of mobile carriers around the world. Presently, we have only see the technology get tested on prototypes like the ZTE Gigabit phone. Qualcomm, ZTE and China Mobile recently <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2017/11/20/qualcomm-zte-china-mobile-announce-test-worlds-first-5g-new-radio-system/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">announced the successful test of the world&#8217;s first 5G New Radio System</a>.</p>
