<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">2018 was an interesting year for smartphones. In the pursuit of slimming down the bezels around the display, manufacturers came up with a number of different ideas. Last year, a number of manufacturers became bolder in releasing experimental products and consumers were more accepting in trying out first generation models. As a result, we saw some revolutionary smartphones make it to the market, many of them from Chinese manufacturers.</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Here’s what we think were the 7 Most Revolutionary Chinese Smartphones of 2018</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3>1. Huawei P20 Pro</h3>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Huawei-P20-Pro-Aurora-Featured-3-e1546843026868.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-230725" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Huawei-P20-Pro-Aurora-Featured-3-e1546843026868.jpg?x44794" alt="Huawei P20 Pro Aurora Featured 3" width="720" height="419" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Huawei-P20-Pro-Aurora-Featured-3-e1546843026868.jpg 720w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Huawei-P20-Pro-Aurora-Featured-3-e1546843026868-300x175.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px" /></a></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">You can’t really start this list without the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-p20-pro/">Huawei P20 Pro</a>. The phone was the first triple camera smartphone in the world and justified the existence of three lenses at the back with its amazing camera performance. It’s no surprise that the phone turned out to be one of the best camera smartphones of 2018 (<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/04/11/huawei-p20-pro-review-the-best-huawei-smartphone-yet/">our review here</a>)! Even today, it’s the best-ranked flagship in the DxOMark rating for smartphone cameras. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">That’s not it though! The phone also kicked off the trend for gradient back design. The Morpho Aurora P20 Pro (<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/10/14/huawei-p20-pro-morpho-aurora-review-the-next-level-gradient-color-finish/">our hands on reivew here!</a>) was a refreshing smartphone design and soon, it caught on among other manufacturers as well!</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3>2. <span style="font-weight: 400;">Vivo Nex S / OPPO Find X</span></h3>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/oppo-find-x-featured-image.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-230954" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/oppo-find-x-featured-image.jpg?x44794" alt="oppo-find-x-featured image" width="720" height="421" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/oppo-find-x-featured-image.jpg 720w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/oppo-find-x-featured-image-300x175.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px" /></a></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Vivo was relentless in the pursuit of getting maximum real estate on its smartphones. This led to the birth of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/03/05/vivo-apex-officially-launched-snapdragon-845-mass-production-begins-later-year/">Vivo APEX concept</a> and eventually, the<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/vivo-nex-s"> Vivo Nex S</a> model for the commercial market. Featuring a motorized camera setup for selfies, the phone took the full-screen design to the next level. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Vivo was soon joined by<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/07/13/oppo-find-x-goes-on-its-first-sale-in-china/"> OPPO with its Find X model</a> launch in June (they had their <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/06/30/oppo-gives-reasons-why-the-find-x-wasnt-named-find-9-as-expected/">reasons to not call it the Find 9</a>). The Find series always had a special place among smartphone enthusiasts and seeing the lineup come back to life in the form the Find X was a sight to behold. Featuring SuperVOOC (limited to <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/06/20/oppo-find-x-lamborghini-edition-is-the-first-phone-with-supervooc-fast-charge-offering-full-charge-in-35-minutes/">Lamborghini edition</a>), a full-screen design, a motorized slider, and an impressive body design, the Find X was a glimpse of smartphone’s future. Definitely revolutionary! </span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3>3. <span style="font-weight: 400;">POCO F1</span></h3>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/POCO-F1-featured.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-230949" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/POCO-F1-featured.jpg?x44794" alt="POCO F1-featured" width="720" height="420" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/POCO-F1-featured.jpg 720w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/POCO-F1-featured-300x175.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px" /></a></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Ever since OnePlus smartphones started to climb up the pricing ladder, they no longer deserved the ‘Flagship Killer’ title. But in 2018, we found something that did deserve this tagline &#8212; the<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-pocophone-f1-128gb/"> POCO F1</a>. Featuring the flagship Snapdragon 845 chipset at a price under $300, this particular model is as close as any phone can get to this title. </span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Not just that, you didn’t have to wait for an invite code or try out your luck in 10 flash sales to get hold of a unit. In fact, the POCO F1 was truly an international model which went on sale in over 50 markets worldwide. </span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3>4. <span style="font-weight: 400;">Lenovo Z5 Pro GT</span></h3>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Lenovo-Z5-Pro-GT-featured.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-230946" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Lenovo-Z5-Pro-GT-featured.jpg?x44794" alt="Lenovo-Z5-Pro-GT-featured" width="720" height="420" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Lenovo-Z5-Pro-GT-featured.jpg 720w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Lenovo-Z5-Pro-GT-featured-300x175.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px" /></a></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Lenovo was the last company we would have thought that would get the bragging rights to the first mass-produced Snapdragon 855 smartphone. But with the<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/lenovo-z5-pro-gt/"> Lenovo Z5 Pro GT</a>, it deserves much more than that. The phone is also <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/12/18/lenovo-z5-pro-snapdragon-855-edition-with-12-gb-ram-and-512-gb-storage-goes-official/">the first one to feature up to 12GB of RAM on board</a>! It’s definitely overkill considering our current entertainment and gaming needs, but still impressive. The phone starts at an affordable $391 and will be up for pre-orders in China from January 15. The first sale is slated for January 24. </span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3><span style="font-weight: 400;">5. Huawei Mate 20 X</span></h3>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Huawei-Mate-20-X-featured.png?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-230957" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Huawei-Mate-20-X-featured.png?x44794" alt="Huawei Mate 20 X featured" width="720" height="420" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Huawei-Mate-20-X-featured.png 720w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Huawei-Mate-20-X-featured-300x175.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px" /></a></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-mate-20-x/">Mate 20 X</a> with its humongous 7.2-inch display borders near the tablet category. But for all purposes, it&#8217;s a smartphone and acts like one despite its huge display. Our reviewers loved this phone for its huge display, powerful internals, and an amazing camera. You should definitely check out </span><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMVzEPYLnf4"><span style="font-weight: 400;">our review from here</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400;">!</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">If you think a 7.2-inch display is an overkill, think again. People who consume a lot of videos and games on their smartphones would love such a large screen in their hands. What makes the phone revolutionary is the fact that it’s smaller in size as compared to other phablets like the Xiaomi Mi Max 3 (176.2 x 87.4 x 8 mm) or older ones like Lenovo Phab2 Pro (179.8 x 88.6 x 10.7 mm) or Zenfone 3 Ultra (186.4 x 93.9 x 6.8 mm)! Basically, you get more screen in a form factor that’s considered manageable in the phablet segment.</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3><span style="font-weight: 400;">6. Nubia X</span></h3>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Nubia-X-featured-1.png?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-230947" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Nubia-X-featured-1.png?x44794" alt="Nubia-X-featured" width="720" height="420" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Nubia-X-featured-1.png 720w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Nubia-X-featured-1-300x175.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px" /></a></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Nubia is a driven company and we’ve been impressed with their Z series models featuring bezel-less design. However, in the pursuit of a higher screen to body ratio, the company decided to go for a second screen at the back. While we have seen smartphone companies try out a secondary screen (like the LG V20) on their regular models, this one’s a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/10/31/nubia-x-dual-screen-phone-with-dual-cameras-fingerprint-scanners-unveiled-in-china-with-473-starting-price/">full-fledged 5.1-inch OLED display at the back</a>. This second screen basically eliminates the need for a selfie camera, allowing the company to use a clean front design. Ingenious or stupid, that’s for you to decide. But it’s definitely an innovative way to get rid of the bezel on top of the display without having to resort for ugly notches or moving parts like a slider. It’s no surprise that Vivo decided to release its own dual screen flagship a couple of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/12/11/vivo-nex-2-launched-as-vivo-nex-dual-display-edition-with-three-cameras-10gb-ram-more/">months later called the Vivo Nex Dual</a>.</span></p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3><span style="font-weight: 400;">7. Huawei Nova 4 / Honor View 20. </span></h3>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Honor-View-20-featured2.jpeg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-230950" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Honor-View-20-featured2.jpeg?x44794" alt="Honor View 20 featured2" width="720" height="420" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Honor-View-20-featured2.jpeg 720w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/Honor-View-20-featured2-300x175.jpeg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 720px) 100vw, 720px" /></a></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">Punch hole cameras are the next big experiment in smartphone display design and Huawei has kicked off this trend with its <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-nova-4-standard-version/">Nova 4</a> and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/huawei-honor-v20/">Honor V20</a> smartphones. Samsung also joins the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/12/10/samsung-galaxy-a8s-infinity-o-display-snapdragon-710-processor-triple-rear-cameras-no-audio-jack/">party with its Galaxy A8S model</a>, but overall, with two mainstream models in the market so early, the Chinese tech giant seems to be all in for this particular design.</span></p>
<p>Another highlight of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/12/26/honor-v20-with-6-4-inch-display-kirin-980-25mp-screen-camera-and-48mp-sony-camera-is-official/">Honor View 20 is its unique back design</a>. Huawei and Honor have consistently managed to churn out unique designs for its smartphones and the trend continues with the new model as well.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400;">To sum up, 2018 was an exciting year for Chinese smartphone enthusiasts! But this year is going to be even better <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/11/20/in-depth-look-upcoming-foldable-phones-design-launch/">with foldables hitting the market</a>. So we are definitely looking forward to seeing what they have in store for us! </span></p>

A mysterious smartphone with some advanced features such as dual displays and triple rear cameras has been unboxed on YouTube channel Mrwhosetheboss. It is speculated that it could be the Vivo NEX S2.</p>
<p>The video claims that the mystery phone will be debuting in December but does neither reveal the name of the device nor the brand name. The unboxing video highlights the three innovative features of the phones. Even though the phone is shown in the video, it does not really reveal its exact design.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/11/29/mysterious-vivo-phone-with-dual-displays-triple-cameras-and-lunar-ring-unboxed-could-it-be-vivo-nex-s2/alelged-vivo-nex-s2/" rel="attachment wp-att-225220"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-225220" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Alelged-Vivo-NEX-S2.jpg?x44794" alt="Alelged Vivo NEX S2" width="728" height="373" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Alelged-Vivo-NEX-S2.jpg 728w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Alelged-Vivo-NEX-S2-300x154.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 728px) 100vw, 728px" /></a></p>
<p>The first feature that the video talks about is the Lunar Ring. it looks like a colorful RGB LED ring that can glow for notifications. The LED ring is placed on the rear side of the phone.</p>
<p>The frontside of the phone is mainly occupied by the main display. The backside of the phone features another display. The rear camera system can be used for snapping selfies with the second display acting as a viewfinder. The handset does not feature a selfie shooter on the front. The design of the phone reminds us of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/zte-nubia-x" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Nubia X</a> dual screen smartphone that was announced at the end of the previous month.</p>
<p>The mystery phone is equipped with triple rear cameras that seems to be placed inside Lunar Ring. An LED flash is placed alongside it. The triple camera setup may include a 3D Time of Flight (ToF) sensor.</p>
<p><iframe loading="lazy" title="a mystery smartphone just arrived." width="696" height="392" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/-CioG7iu6JI?feature=oembed" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe></p>

</ul>
<p>Recent rumors have suggested that Vivo is working on a smartphone with dual displays. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/11/26/upcoming-vivo-nex-phone-could-be-dual-screen-phone-like-nubia-x-key-specs-and-mages-leaked/">Leaked photos of the phone</a> have also surfaced to reveal dual display design. However, there is no official confirmation yet from Vivo. Also, there is no direct evidence to prove that the mystery phone unboxed in the above video is the successor of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/vivo-nex-s">Vivo NEX S</a>.</p>

<h2></h2>
<h2>Design</h2>
<p>As it features the highest screen-to-body ratio and it has the first pop up camera in the market, as well as the thinnest design, I think that Vivo NEX S wins the design comparison. It is a definitely more attractive device, even though there are only marginal differences between it and Xiaomi Mi Mix 3. The only disadvantage is represented by its bigger dimensions, but it also has a bigger display.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h2>Display</h2>
<p>Talking about the display, I would pick the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 for a simple reason: <span style="background-color: #f6d5d9">if we base </span>on the specs on the paper, it should provide a better color reproduction. Why? Simple: because it boasts the HDR technology. On the other hand, Meizu 16 Plus has the biggest screen which is very useful for productivity and games.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h2>Hardware/Software</h2>
<p>Given that all of these devices feature a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset under the hood, the only important difference between their hardware sides is represented by memory configurations. And on this aspect, Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 is the winner as it is available with up to 10 GB of RAM and up to 512 GB of internal storage. The internal storage may be even more important than you expected as these phones do not feature a micro SD slot to expand it.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h2>Camera</h2>
<p>The cameras which should provide the best overall performance should be the ones of Xiaomi Mi Mix 3. It features 4-axis OIS on the rear side and even a dual camera on the front side: the most impressive setup of the trio. The second place is for Meizu 16 Plus featuring OIS, laser autofocus and a six-LED flash on the back.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h2>Battery</h2>
<p>Vivo NEX S has the biggest battery with a capacity of 4000 mAh, even though it is not the thickest phone. And it also provides a way longer battery life than its opponents. Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 is disappointing with just 3200 mAh (but it is the only one which can be charged wirelessly), while Meizu 16 Plus sits in the middle.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h2>Price</h2>
<p>The launch price of Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 is about $571/€500, Meizu 16 Plus starts from $548/€480 and Vivo NEX S starts from $800/€700. The best value for money phone is definitely Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 because of its price and its outstanding camera performance, but overall I like Vivo NEX S slightly more because of its bigger battery.</p>

<h2></h2>
<h2>Design</h2>
<p>These devices are something incredible when it comes to the design. Oppo Find X and Vivo NEX S are the most innovative smartphones of 2018 in terms of aesthetics. In order to reach almost a 100 percent screen-to-body ratio, the companies opted for motorized parts which house their front cameras. While Vivo NEX S has a single pop-up camera, Oppo Find X has a slider housing the whole camera department as well as all the sensors that you usually find on the front panel of smartphones. Thanks to the motorized slider, it has the highest screen-to-body ratio ever and it wins the design comparison.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h2>Display</h2>
<p>Huawei Mate 20 Pro has the most exciting display, even though it is the only one which has a notch. Its screen is an AMOLED panel with a very high Quad HD+  resolution, and it is HDR10-compliant. Given these specifications, it should be the display with the best viewing quality. All of these devices have a fingerprint reader integrated into the display for authentication, while Vivo NEX S is the only one which does not have a 3D facial recognition system.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h2>Hardware/Software</h2>
<p>After iPhone Xs and Xs Max, the new Huawei Mate 20 Pro is the first handset to hit the market with a 7 nm SoC. On the paper, it seems the best processor in the Android market and it will remain so at least until the successor of Snapdragon 845 releases. But we will have to try it in order to confirm it.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h2>Camera</h2>
<p>Huawei Mate 20 Pro wins the camera comparison as it features the same triple camera setup as the Huawei P20 Pro, considered the best camera phone until now. It has a 40 MP primary sensor, a 20 MP wide-angle secondary sensor and a third telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom. Oppo Find X and Vivo NEX S have no chances with their average (for a flagship) dual cameras.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h2>Battery</h2>
<p>Huawei Mate 20 Pro has the biggest battery with a capacity of 4200 mAh, but it is not said that it will last more than Vivo NEX S and its 4000 mAh unit. It has a 7 nm chipset with a low energy consumption, but it also has a Quad HD+ display that consumes more than Full HD+ ones of Vivo NEX S. So we have to test it before judging.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h2>Price</h2>
<p>Huawei Mate 20 Pro is getting ready to hit the global market with a price tag of €1050/$1211, Oppo Find X is already in the global market with a €999/$1154 price tag, while Vivo NEX S costs about €700/$807 in Asia. In my opinion, Huawei Mate 20 Pro wins the comparison due to its better display and camera.</p>

It is expected that by the year 2020 most of the developed markets would upgrade to the 5G networks. In a bid to make 5G enabled smartphones, Vivo has completed successful trial of the 5G technology using a modified version of its latest flagship device,<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/vivo-nex-s/"> Nex S</a>.</p>
<p>Last week, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/08/28/oppo-successfully-completes-5g-signal-tests-on-a-modified-oppo-r15-with-snapdragon-x50/">Oppo did a successful test of 5G protocol</a> on an Oppo R15, and today, another BBK Electronics company has attained the 5G readiness. In a press note, Vivo explained that they did the test on the Nex S by doing some necessary changes and adding the latest <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/03/08/the-snapdragon-855-fusion-platform-is-qualcomms-next-flagship-chipset/">Qualcomm X50 modem</a>. During the test, the device included a non-standalone architecture model with both LTE and NR (New Radio) antennas. The test was based on 3GPP Release 12 standards, which is the first phase of the 5G protocol.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-large wp-image-196035 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-Nex-5-1024x702.jpg?x44794" alt="Vivo Nex" width="640" height="439" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-Nex-5-1024x702.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-Nex-5-300x206.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-Nex-5-768x526.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-Nex-5.jpg 1280w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></p>
<p>Vivo will now start testing and developing the actual 5G phone by examining IODT and using actual 5G network and infrastructure. Vivo is giving a timeline of the year 2020 for the launch of 5G enabled smartphone.</p>
<p>Many giants are signing pacts and agreements with the different companies to attain the 5G technology in their devices. Recently, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/09/11/xiaomi-and-ntt-docomo-joins-hands-for-cellular-wireless-agreement-in-japan/">Xiaomi has partnered with NTT Docomo</a> to rollout the 5G related devices and equipments in Japan. Further, Samsung has developed <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/07/06/samsung-7nm-chipsets-to-break-3ghz-mark/">7nm foundry process</a> which will be used in <a href="//www.gizmochina.com/tag/snapdragon-855/">Snapdragon 855</a>, a fully supported 5G SoC. Samsung will launch the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/08/15/samsung-announces-the-worlds-first-5g-modem-with-up-to-6gbps-speeds/">Galaxy S10 as 5G ready device</a> and later Lenovo, Huawei and many other OEMs will join the race next year.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h2><strong>Vivo Nex S Specs</strong></h2>
<p>It seems, Nex S&#8217;s powerful specs are ready for the 5G network with some changes. However, in-display fingerprint readers based on the chip released by Synaptics in late 2017 are not as fast and accurate as the traditional optical fingerprint readers. But do not worry: Vivo is continuously working on improving the performance of its in-screen fingerprint reader. After a first update released days ago, a new update is seeding on the latest flagship. According to reports, it has a size of 301.07 MB and it includes improvements for the in-display fingerprint reader of the Vivo NEX S and A.</p>

<p>An official changelog has been released alongside the update and it mentions optimizations to fingerprint recognition logic to improve fingerprint recognition efficiency. The update brings the number of version of Funtouch OS (Vivo&#8217;s own Android fork) to 1.16.5 and the improvements to the fingerprint scanner are not the only ones present in the changelog. System performance and stability have been improved as well, so you should get a smoother and more stable experience while using your device. Further, there are optimizations to the compatibility of the operating system with third-party apps, as well as improvements to the Bluetooth compatibility and stability while the phone is connected to a car.</p>

He did the same with the new <a href="http://gizmochina.com/product/vivo-nex-s">Vivo NEX S,</a> which we can define one of the most <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/07/02/vivo-nex-s-vs-oppo-find-x-specs-comparison/">innovative smartphones</a> of this year. Zack did three kinds of test: a scratch test, a bend test, and a burn test. And the phone has passed all the tests successfully with an incredible result, showing to be a very solid and resistant device.</p>
<p>Zack confirmed that the handset is made of glass for the backplate and metal for the frame, as the company did not reveal it before. One of the main concerns of people who are deciding to buy this handset is the resistance of its motorized pop-up camera. Well, he tested the pop-up camera of the Vivo NEX S as well and it is incredibly solid. It is made of glass and metal just like the device. In the bend test, it flexed a bit, but the display has not cracked and neither the glass back. From what this torture test is showing, besides focusing on innovation and an outstanding hardware side, Vivo has also been able to release a very sturdy phone with long-lasting aesthetics.</p>

<p>Vivo NEX S rocks a wide 6.59-inch display with a Full HD+ resolution of 2316 x 1080 pixels, no notch and an in-display fingerprint reader based on the chip unveiled by Synaptics in the second half of last year. Its processor is the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 running at a max frequency of 2.8 GHz, paired with 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of internal storage. It boasts a rear dual camera with 12 and 5 MP resolutions, f/1.8 and f/2.4 apertures, while the motorized pop-up camera has a resolution of 8 MP and a f/2.0 aperture.</p>

<p>Vivo NEX has been released in two variants: <a href="http://gizmochina.com/product/vivo-nex-s">NEX S</a> and <a href="http://gizmochina.com/product/vivo-nex-a">NEX A,</a> embracing two different price ranges. The first version ranges from CNY 4498 to 4998 in China, which roughly translates into €580 and €640, while the second version costs €510. Both the variants are concept phones made real, with a whopping 91 percent screen-to-body ratio and a motorized pop-up front camera for selfies. They also sport an in-display fingerprint reader. The display has a size of 6.59 inches, the Super AMOLED technology and a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2316 pixels, without notch.</p>
<p>The design is composed of a glass back and an aluminum frame just like most of the premium flagship phones. Under the hood of the Vivo NEX S, there is an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset (an octa-core running at a max frequency of 2.8 GHz) supported by 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of internal storage depending on the chosen configuration. The NEX A instead sports an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 SoC with a 2.2 GHz clock frequency, 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. The main camera department is a dual setup with 12 and 5 MP resolutions, while the secondary one has an 8 MP resolution. Both the variants have a big 4000 mAh battery.</p>

<h2></h2>
<h2>Design</h2>
<p>Vivo NEX S and Oppo Find X feature a full borderless design, a back cover made of glass and an aluminum frame. Oppo Find X has the most narrow bezels ever seen on a phone and its display covers more than 92% of the front surface. Vivo NEX S is close to 100% as well, but its screen-to-body ratio is a bit lower. While NEX S comes with a pop-up front camera, Oppo Find X has a motorized slider on the upper part which reveals the front camera as well as the dual rear camera. Thanks to this and to the slightly smaller display, it has more compact dimensions, but it is thicker. Vivo NEX S has an in-display fingerprint reader as the main authentication system, while Oppo Find X features 3D facial recognition. Aesthetically, we prefer the Find X due to the more innovative design and more compact dimensions, but it is all about individual preferences.</p>
<h2></h2>
<h2>Display</h2>
<p>AMOLED panels in both cases, with brilliant colors and deep blacks. As said above Oppo Find X has a slightly smaller display (6.42 vs 6.59 inches) but despite this, it has a slightly higher resolution. It should not be noticeable in everyday use, but it is always worth mentioning. We do not recommend you to choose one of these devices by basing on the display as the differences are marginal. Focus on the other specs instead.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h2>Hardware/Software</h2>
<p>If we exclude the innovation, the hardware side is the main focus of these devices. They come with the best SoC you can find in the Android world: the octa-core Snapdragon 845 by Qualcomm which runs at a max frequency of 2.8 GHz. It is supported by 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage, but the Find X will also be available in a 128 GB configuration. Even when it comes to hardware and software, it is a draw. With exactly the same hardware, we do not expect very different performances. Further, the Android customizations made by Oppo and Vivo (Funtouch OS and Color OS) are both very functional and comfortable: so it&#8217;s all about your personal preference.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h2>Camera</h2>
<p>We did not have the chance to take any photos from these devices yet, but on the paper, Oppo Find X seems to be a way better camera phone than Vivo NEX S. It sports a 16 + 20 MP dual camera (optically stabilized) on its back and an amazing 25 MP snapper on the front which also supports 3D facial recognition. We do not believe that this setup will reach the level of top camera phones, but it will still be greater than NEX S.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h2>Battery</h2>
<p>While we firmly believe that Oppo Find X will provide better photo quality, it is likely that Vivo NEX S will have a longer battery life. We expect its monster 4000 mAh battery to achieve at least one day and a half of battery life with a stressed use. However, Oppo Find X has a big battery as well, so it will not be disappointing. Further, its fast-charging technology (VOOC) will be faster.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h2>Price</h2>
<p>Besides Asia, Oppo Find X will launch in Europe, and its price will be €999. Vivo NEX S has been introduced in China with a price tag of just $776/€670. Oppo Find X is the winner of the comparison, at least according to us. Pricing is on the higher side on the Find X, but the design is much more innovative too!</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<h3>Vivo NEX S vs Oppo Find X: PRO and CONS</h3>
<p><strong>Vivo NEX S</strong></p>
<p>PROS</p>
<ul>
<li>Full borderless design</li>
<li>In-display fingerprint reader</li>

</ul>
<p>CONS</p>
<ul>
<li>Limited availability</li>
<li>Less Impressive Selfie Front Camera</li>
</ul>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p><strong>Oppo Find X</strong></p>
<p>PROS</p>
<ul>
<li>Slightly better screen</li>
<li>Higher screen-to-body ratio</li>
<li>Amazing hardware</li>

Now, the company is all set to launch Vivo NEX series smartphone in the Indian market on July 19.</p>
<p>Vivo has now started sending out media invites for the 19th July launch event in India where the company will launch <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/vivo/">Vivo</a> NEX series smartphone. While the invite makes it clear that the company will be debuting a NEX series smartphone, it&#8217;s still not clear if both smartphones will be launched or only the more affordable NEX A will come to India.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-198446 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-NEX-India-launch.jpg?x44794" alt="Vivo NEX India Launch" width="745" height="900" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-NEX-India-launch.jpg 745w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-NEX-India-launch-248x300.jpg 248w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-NEX-India-launch-768x928.jpg 768w" sizes="(max-width: 745px) 100vw, 745px" /></p>
<p>One of the highlights of the smartphone is that it comes with an 8-megapixel front-facing snapper automatically rises and hides on opening and closing camera app, and also makes a sound to notify the user. This is done using micro-stepping motors with independent drive ICs and precision control algorithms.</p>
<p>The device features a third-generation in-display fingerprint scanning technology that improves the screen unlock time by 10 percent and increases the overall experience of phone unlocking. On the back side, there’s a dual camera setup which consists of 12-megapixel sensors, primary being a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/sony/">Sony</a> IMX363 sensor with 1.4μm pixels, f/1.8 aperture, and four-axis optical image stabilization and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor with f/2.4 aperture.</p>
<p>The smartphone comes with a 6.59-inch Super AMOLED Ultra FullView “Zero Screen” Display with a screen-to-body ratio of 91.24 percent and 2316 x 1080 pixels screen resolution. All the sensors on the device are hidden under the display and instead of an earpiece, the phone comes with a Screen SoundCasting Technology.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-196037 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-Nex-6.jpg?x44794" alt="Vivo Nex" width="1280" height="853" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-Nex-6.jpg 1280w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-Nex-6-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-Nex-6-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-Nex-6-1024x682.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1280px) 100vw, 1280px" /></p>
<p>The Vivo NEX S is powered by <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/qualcomm/">Qualcomm</a>‘s Snapdragon 845 processor along with Adreno 630 GPU. It packs 4GB RAM and comes in two internal storage options &#8212; 128GB and 256GB. On the other hand, the Vivo NEX A comes powered by Qualcomm <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/05/24/snapdragon-710-10nm-soc-to-bring-ai-and-flagship-features-to-less-expensive-phones/">Snapdragon 710 SoC</a> and packs 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage.</p>

The first one carries a price tag of 3898 Yuan which roughly translates into $599. The <a href="http://gizmochina.com/product/vivo-nex-s">NEX S</a> in the configuration with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage costs 4498 Yuan (roughly $690), while the most expensive one with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB ROM costs 5998 Yuan (about $769).</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-197829" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/vivo-nex-2-1.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="506" height="900" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/vivo-nex-2-1.jpg 506w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/vivo-nex-2-1-169x300.jpg 169w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/vivo-nex-2-1-576x1024.jpg 576w" sizes="(max-width: 506px) 100vw, 506px" /></p>
<p>Note that Vivo NEX A is a lower-end version of the flagship as it features an octa-core Snapdragon 710 chipset by Qualcomm running at a max frequency of 2.2 GHz, while the other two variants pack an octa-core Snapdragon 845 flagship-level chipset with a max frequency of 2.8 GHz. The memory configurations are different as well: the NEX A is equipped with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage.<img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-197830" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/vivo-nex.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="700" height="390" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/vivo-nex.jpg 700w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/vivo-nex-300x167.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 700px) 100vw, 700px" /></p>
<p>Going ahead the hardware side, each variant of the Vivo NEX has a glass back and an aluminum frame, as well as a full borderless display with a screen-to-body ratio superior to 91 percent. The device has an in-display fingerprint reader and a wide 6.59-inch screen with the Super AMOLED technology and a Full HD+ resolution of 2316 x 1080 pixels. The camera setup is composed of two sensors with 12 and 5 MP resolutions, respectively. Given that the display covers almost the whole front panel, the company has implemented a motorized pop-up front camera with an 8 MP resolution.</p>

The Vivo NEX is the production version of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/03/05/vivo-apex-officially-launched-snapdragon-845-mass-production-begins-later-year/">Vivo Apex</a> smartphone that was showcased by the China-based company during the Mobile World Congress.</p>
<p>The smartphone comes with a 6.59-inch Super AMOLED Ultra FullView &#8220;Zero Screen&#8221; Display with a screen-to-body ratio of 91.24 percent and 2316 x 1080 pixels screen resolution. All the sensors on the device are hidden under the display. Instead of an earpiece, the phone comes with a Screen SoundCasting Technology which promises better bass and softer treble.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-196035 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-Nex-5.jpg?x44794" alt="Vivo Nex" width="1280" height="877" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-Nex-5.jpg 1280w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-Nex-5-300x206.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-Nex-5-768x526.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-Nex-5-1024x702.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1280px) 100vw, 1280px" /></p>
<p>Because of the narrow bezels surrounding the display, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/vivo/">Vivo</a> had to come up with a unique solution for the front-facing camera. And thus, one of the highlights of the phone is that it comes with a pop-up front-facing camera. The 8-megapixel front-facing snapper automatically rises and hides on opening and closing camera app, and also makes a sound to notify the user. The company says that it uses micro-stepping motors with independent drive ICs and precision control algorithms to precisely control this process.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-196031 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-NEX-3.jpg?x44794" alt="Vivo NEX" width="728" height="485" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-NEX-3.jpg 728w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-NEX-3-300x200.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 728px) 100vw, 728px" /></p>
<p>The device features a third-generation in-display fingerprint scanning technology, which according to the company increases the screen unlock time by 10 percent and increases the overall experience of phone unlocking. On the back side, there&#8217;s a dual camera setup which consists of 12-megapixel sensors, primary being a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/sony/">Sony</a> IMX363 sensor with 1.4μm pixels, f/1.8 aperture, and four-axis optical image stabilization and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor with f/2.4 aperture.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-196023 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-NEX-camera.png?x44794" alt="Vivo NEX Camera" width="647" height="366" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-NEX-camera.png 647w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-NEX-camera-300x170.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 647px) 100vw, 647px" /></p>
<p>The phone also has Vivo Game Engine, which is made in partnership with Tencent Games. It aims to provide an immersive gaming experience based on software and hardware optimization and is also optimized to run games made using Unreal Engine. Further, the Vivo NEX also features 7.1-channel 3D audio, thanks to dtsX partnership. It also has Vivo Hi-Fi V1 System In Package technology for hi-fi quality sound through earphones.</p>
<p>The Vivo NEX smartphone comes in three variants. The high-end model, dubbed as Vivo NEX S, is powered by <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/qualcomm/">Qualcomm</a>&#8216;s Snapdragon 845 processor along with Adreno 630 GPU, 8GB RAM, and 256GB internal storage. The mid-end variant has the same specs as that of the highest-end variant except for the internal storage as it packs 128GB storage.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-196037 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-Nex-6.jpg?x44794" alt="Vivo Nex" width="1280" height="853" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-Nex-6.jpg 1280w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-Nex-6-300x200.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-Nex-6-768x512.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-Nex-6-1024x682.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1280px) 100vw, 1280px" /></p>
<p>The cheapest variant among the three, which is called Vivo NEX A, comes powered by Qualcomm&#8217;s recently launched <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/05/24/snapdragon-710-10nm-soc-to-bring-ai-and-flagship-features-to-less-expensive-phones/">Snapdragon 710</a> SoC, along with 6GB RAM, and 128GB of internal storage. All three models are powered by a 4,000mAh battery with 22.5W fast charging support. Connectivity options on the devices include Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz / 5GHz) 2×2 MIMO, Bluetooth 5 LE, GPS + GLONASS, and USB Type-C.</p>
<p>Further, the smartphones come equipped with the company&#8217;s own personal voice assistant &#8212; Jovi, which works on artificial intelligence technology. It supports several functionalities such as smart map reading, encyclopedia, shopping, translation, scanning, and screen recognition among others.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-196022 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Jovi-AI.jpg?x44794" alt="Vivo Jovi AI" width="639" height="355" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Jovi-AI.jpg 639w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Jovi-AI-300x167.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 639px) 100vw, 639px" /></p>
<p>Vivo says that Jovi will keep learning based on the understanding of the user actions. There&#8217;s a dedicated button on the side of the camera that triggers Jovi AI voice assistant on the long-press action. The company says that it has established AI joint laboratories with partners with an aim to provide a brand new user experience through AI intelligence.</p>
<p>The smartphone comes with Vivo&#8217;s newly designed custom user interface Energy UI with AI technology, running on top of <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/android-oreo/">Android Oreo</a> operating system out of the box. Further, the device also supports engine-level SDK optimization, HPUE technology antenna layout, and a zero-sensor cooling system.</p>

Apart from a report on the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/06/10/vivo-nex-appears-in-hands-on-video/">leaked hands-on video</a>, most of the recent leaks have only revealed the specs and pricing of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/06/03/three-vivo-nex-variants-spotted-on-3c-listings/">Vivo NEX, NEX A and NEX S smartphones</a>. Earlier today, a Chinese leakster had shared new photos of the phone on Weibo. The new images have surfaced to show the Vivo NEX in real skin before its official launch.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/06/11/vivo-nex-in-real-skin-hours-before-it-gets-official/vivo-nex-real-3/" rel="attachment wp-att-195801"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-195801" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-NEX-Real-3.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="690" height="922" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-NEX-Real-3.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-NEX-Real-3-225x300.jpg 225w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></a></p>
<p>The rear side of the phone has a vertical dual camera setup that is placed at the top-left corner of the phone. Its posterior also features a squarish fingerprint scanner. This could be the “<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/vivo-nex/">Vivo NEX</a>” variant that had momentarily appeared with a rear-mounted fingerprint reader <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/06/08/vivo-nex-nex-s-full-specifications-images-appear-on-official-website/">on the official website in the previous week</a>. The backside of the handset seems to be made out of glass.</p>
<p>The other two images give a clearer view of the frontside of the Vivo NEX. The <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/06/05/vivo-nexs-pop-up-front-camera-officially-confirmed/">pop-up camera</a> is clearly in one of the images. The handset is expected to arrive with a massive display of 6.59 inches. The leaked photos suggest that smartphone will indeed offer an impressive screen space. As it can be seen in the image, the chin of the device is a bit thicker than other bezels that surround the screen. It is speculated that the Vivo NEX will deliver a screen-to-body ratio of around 91 percent.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/06/11/vivo-nex-in-real-skin-hours-before-it-gets-official/vivo-nex-real-1/" rel="attachment wp-att-195802"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-195802" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-NEX-Real-1.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="690" height="922" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-NEX-Real-1.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-NEX-Real-1-225x300.jpg 225w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></a></p>

<p>Recent reports have revealed that the Vivo NEX and NEX A are both powered by Snapdragon 710. The Vivo NEX has SD710 SoC and <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/06/06/vivo-nex-specs-leak-reveal-massive-6-59-inch-screen-pop-up-camera-6-gb-ram-and-more/">6 GB of RAM</a> whereas the Snapdragon 845 variant is likely to arrive as <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/vivo-nex-s/">Vivo NEX S</a> and it expected to <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/06/06/geekbench-listing-confirms-vivo-nex-s-is-the-flagship/">feature 8 GB of RAM</a> and 128 GB of storage.</p>
<p>Earlier this week, a report had revealed that there is an advanced variant that of the phone features <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/06/09/new-vivo-nex-spec-leak-confirms-256gb-model-new-official-teaser-too/">Snapdragon 845, 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of RAM</a>. This model is expected to be <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/06/11/vivo-nex-pricing-for-the-snapdragon-845-sd-710-versions-leaked/">priced at 4,498 Yuan (~$703)</a>. The SD710 edition is <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/06/11/vivo-nex-pricing-for-the-snapdragon-845-sd-710-versions-leaked/">likely to cost 3,798 Yuan (~$593)</a>.</p>
<p>There are conflicting rumors on the variants and pricing of the Vivo NEX phone. This suggests that Vivo may unleash the Vivo NEX in multiple variants to target flagship and upper mid-range phone buyers. The exact information on the Vivo NEX variants will be confirmed tomorrow through its launch event.</p>

Quite an appreciable amount of details have been unveiled before now, including the real photos of the device. The complete specs of the device also made the rounds recently and it showed there will be a Snapdragon 845 version as well as a Snapdragon 710 variant. New details surrounding the supposed price tags for the Vivo NEX variants have now appeared on China&#8217;s Weibo.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/vivo-nex-price.png?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-195642" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/vivo-nex-price.png?x44794" alt="vivo nex pricing" width="597" height="406" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/vivo-nex-price.png 597w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/vivo-nex-price-300x204.png 300w" sizes="(max-width: 597px) 100vw, 597px" /></a></p>
<p>According to the leak, the Vivo NEX pricing will start from 3798 yuan (~$592) for the Snapdragon 710 variant while the high-end Snapdragon 845 variant will come in at 4498 yuan (~$702). The high-end variant will come with 8GB if RAM and 256GB storage. These prices may not be the actual prices but for the design and specs lineup, the prices aren&#8217;t outrageous. In fact, both models would sell out pretty fast at these prices, especially the high-end variant.<a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/vivo-nex-price-2.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-large wp-image-195643" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/vivo-nex-price-2-594x1024.jpg?x44794" alt="vivo nex price" width="594" height="1024" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/vivo-nex-price-2-594x1024.jpg 594w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/vivo-nex-price-2-174x300.jpg 174w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/vivo-nex-price-2.jpg 690w" sizes="(max-width: 594px) 100vw, 594px" /></a></p>

The Vivo NEX and NEX S were found listed on the official website along with their entire specifications. As expected, those listings have been taken down, but their screenshots are available on SlashLeaks.</p>
<p>The Vivo NEX was listed with a pricing of 9,999 Yuan (~$1,560). The smartphone is unlikely to carry such a high pricing. It is speculated that the Vivo NEX variants could be priced around $800 to $1,000.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/06/08/vivo-nex-nex-s-full-specifications-images-appear-on-official-website/vivo-nex-official-1/" rel="attachment wp-att-195425"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-195425" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/vivo-nex-official-1.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="1061" height="561" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/vivo-nex-official-1.jpg 1061w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/vivo-nex-official-1-300x159.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/vivo-nex-official-1-768x406.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/vivo-nex-official-1-1024x541.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1061px) 100vw, 1061px" /></a></p>
<h3>Vivo NEX S Specifications</h3>
<p>As it can be seen in the listing, the Vivo NEX S will be coming in red colored rear and a black front. The handset features 8 GB of RAM and an internal storage of 128 GB. It is <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/06/06/geekbench-listing-confirms-vivo-nex-s-is-the-flagship/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">driven by the Snapdragon 845 chipset</a>. The device is preinstalled with Android 8.1 Oreo with a layer of FunTouch OS on its top.</p>
<p>The Vivo NEX S has a massive display of 6.59 inches that supports 2,316 x 1080 pixels. The exact screen-to-body ratio was not mentioned on the official listing. Considering the fact that the display is surrounded by super-slim bezel and a thin-sized bottom bezel, the Vivo NEX S is likely to deliver a screen-to-body ratio of around 91 percent. The smartphone measures 162 x 77 x 7.98mm and it includes a 4,000mAh battery.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/06/08/vivo-nex-nex-s-full-specifications-images-appear-on-official-website/vivo-nex-official-2/" rel="attachment wp-att-195426"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-195426 size-large" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/vivo-nex-official-2-1024x606.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="640" height="379" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/vivo-nex-official-2-1024x606.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/vivo-nex-official-2-300x178.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/vivo-nex-official-2-768x455.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/vivo-nex-official-2.jpg 1270w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></a></p>
<p>The Vivo NEX S has a <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/06/05/vivo-nexs-pop-up-front-camera-officially-confirmed/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">front-facing popup camera</a> of 8-megapixel. The rear side features a vertical dual camera setup that comprises of 12-megapixel primary sensor and 5-megapixel secondary sensor. Some of the connectivity features of the Vivo NEX S smartphone include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, USB 2.0 and USB OTG. This model is equipped with an under-display fingerprint reader. Probably, it features the half-screen fingerprint scanner that was available on the Vivo APEX concept phone.</p>
<h3>Vivo NEX Specifications</h3>
<p>The Vivo NEX is a low powered version of the NEX S as it is fueled by Snapdragon 710 chipset and 6 GB of RAM. Also, another striking difference is that it does not feature an under-screen fingerprint scanner. The rear side of the phone is fitted with a squarish fingerprint reader. This model also features a native storage of 128 GB.</p>
<p>The Vivo NEX measures 162 x 77 x 9.8mm and it also features the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/06/06/vivo-nex-specs-leak-reveal-massive-6-59-inch-screen-pop-up-camera-6-gb-ram-and-more/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">huge 6.59-inch display</a> that produces FHD+ resolution of 2316 x 1080 pixels. It is packed with a 4,000mAh battery. The handset features the same dual camera setup, selfie camera and connectivity features that are available on the Vivo NEX S phone.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/06/08/vivo-nex-nex-s-full-specifications-images-appear-on-official-website/vivo-nex-official/" rel="attachment wp-att-195427"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-195427 size-large" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/vivo-nex-official-1024x570.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="640" height="356" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/vivo-nex-official-1024x570.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/vivo-nex-official-300x167.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/vivo-nex-official-768x427.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/vivo-nex-official.jpg 1265w" sizes="(max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px" /></a></p>

<p>Another variant dubbed as <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/06/03/three-vivo-nex-variants-spotted-on-3c-listings/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Vivo NEX A was spotted alongside Vivo NEX and NEX S</a> in the recent past. Today, the company has released to showcase the amazing display of the phone that offers a huge screen space.</p>
<p>Most of the smartphone makers including Vivo have been launching notch enabled smartphones in a bid to provide users with ample screen space. It seems that Vivo is all set to start a new trend of notch-less display that offers a very high screen-to-body ratio. Here is the first official teaser of Vivo NEX that shows its marvelous display.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/06/07/vivo-nex-to-offer-highest-screen-space-without-notch-reveals-official-teaser/vivo-nex-display-teaser/" rel="attachment wp-att-195136"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-195136" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-NEX-Display-Teaser.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="690" height="1227" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-NEX-Display-Teaser.jpg 690w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-NEX-Display-Teaser-169x300.jpg 169w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-NEX-Display-Teaser-576x1024.jpg 576w" sizes="(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px" /></a></p>
<p>As it can be seen in the official poster, the display of the phone is surrounded by super-slim bezels on three sides. The bottom side of the NEX’s display is slightly thick. Rumors have that the Vivo NEX will be coming with <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/06/06/vivo-nex-specs-leak-reveal-massive-6-59-inch-screen-pop-up-camera-6-gb-ram-and-more/">a massive display of 6.59 inches</a>.</p>
<p>Like the Vivo APEX concept phone, the NEX smartphone is expected to deliver a screen-to-body ratio of around 91 percent. One of the ways through which Vivo has manage to offer user with a such large screen space by removing the selfie camera from the top bezel. This has allowed the company to significantly reduce the size of the top bezel. The front camera is now hidden in at the top edge of the phone. It can <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/06/05/vivo-nexs-pop-up-front-camera-officially-confirmed/">pop-up on its own</a> when a user wants to activate it through the camera app to capture a selfie shot. The Vivo NEX is also expected to feature half-screen fingerprint scanner that will allow users to unlock the phone by touching the finger on any area on the lower half of the screen.</p>
<p style="text-align: center"><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/06/07/vivo-nex-to-offer-highest-screen-space-without-notch-reveals-official-teaser/vivo-nex-display-teaser-1/" rel="attachment wp-att-195135"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-195135" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-NEX-Display-Teaser-1.png?x44794" alt="" width="993" height="570" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-NEX-Display-Teaser-1.png 993w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-NEX-Display-Teaser-1-300x172.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-NEX-Display-Teaser-1-768x441.png 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-NEX-Display-Teaser-1-870x500.png 870w" sizes="(max-width: 993px) 100vw, 993px" /></a><br />

<p>There are conflicting rumors surrounding the specs and variants of the Vivo NEX. Recent reports have revealed that the highest configuration will be featuring <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/06/06/geekbench-listing-confirms-vivo-nex-s-is-the-flagship/">Snapdragon 845 chipset, 8 GB of RAM</a> and 256 GB of storage. The three models are the NEX, NEX S, and NEX A. An earlier report said the Vivo NEX S will come with a Snapdragon 710 but a Geekbench listing has disproved it.</p>
<p>The Vivo NEX S was seen on Geekbench today and the benchmarking site revealed that the phone will come with a Snapdragon 845 processor and not the Snapdragon 710. It will also have 8GB of RAM. While storage isn&#8217;t mentioned, we presume it will be 256GB.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-195071" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-NEX-S-Geekbench.png?x44794" alt="Vivo NEX S Geekbench" width="776" height="719" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-NEX-S-Geekbench.png 776w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-NEX-S-Geekbench-300x278.png 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-NEX-S-Geekbench-768x712.png 768w" sizes="(max-width: 776px) 100vw, 776px" /></p>
<p>Geekbench also revealed the device runs Android 8.1 Oreo. The Vivo NEX S scored 2419 points in the single-core test and 9085 points in the multi-core test.</p>
<p>The Vivo NEX is the launch name for the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/vivo-apex/">Vivo APEX</a> that was revealed earlier this year. Vivo has provided no explanation for why it changed the name. Nevertheless, it is nice to see Vivo is releasing a proper flagship this year. Last year, it skipped the Snapdragon 835 and didn&#8217;t release the Xplay7.</p>

<p>Now that it has been confirmed that the NEX S is the flagship, then we can presume the NEX A or NEX will be the Snapdragon 710 variant.</p>
<p>The Vivo NEX series will be launched on June 12 in Shanghai.</p>

Reports indicate that the company will launch the smartphone in three variants &#8212; Vivo NEX, NEX S, and NEX A.</p>
<p>Now, an alleged specs sheet of the budget NEX-series device has surfaced online, which is believed to be of Vivo NEX S. According to the leaked screenshot of the specs sheet, the smartphone will come with a 6.01-inch Full-HD+ display having super slim bezels and nearly 100% screen-to-body ratio.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-194786 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-NEX-S-Specs-Leak.jpg?x44794" alt="Vivo NEX S" width="728" height="543" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-NEX-S-Specs-Leak.jpg 728w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-NEX-S-Specs-Leak-300x224.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/Vivo-NEX-S-Specs-Leak-160x120.jpg 160w" sizes="(max-width: 728px) 100vw, 728px" /></p>
<p>It is expected that the smartphone will retain the pop-up camera mechanism for the front-facing shooter. While the Vivo NEX will be powered by Snapdragon 845 processor, the budget variants of the phone are expected to come powered by <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/qualcomm/">Qualcomm</a>&#8216;s Snapdragon 710 processor.</p>
<p>On the back side, the phone will come with 20-megapixel + 16-megapixel dual camera setup and on the front side, there&#8217;ll a 24-megapixel snapper. Further, the leaked reveals that the smartphone will pack 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage. On the other hand, the Vivo NEX is expected to come equipped with 6GB of RAM.</p>
<p>The device will be running <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/android-oreo/">Android 8.1 Oreo</a> operating system out of the box and will drive power from a 3,320mAh battery. The main model is reported to come with under-display fingerprint sensor but it is not clear if the budget devices will also come with a similar fingerprint sensor.</p>

After a bunch of leaks revealing more than one variant of the upcoming phone and after the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/06/01/vivo-nex-name-and-june-12-launch-date-officially-confirmed/">official launch confirmation was given by the company through a teaser image</a>, three variants of the handset have just been spotted. The variants have just appeared on a 3C listing. In case you do not know, 3C is a Chinese agency that verifies the eligibility of products for the consumers market. The three versions are dubbed as Vivo NEX, NEX A and NEX S.</p>
<p>We already heard about the NEX S variant which has recently appeared on Geekbench, but we never heard about the NEX A until now. 3C did not reveal any of the main specs of the smartphone. From the listing, we can just acknowledge that they support 5V / 2A, 9V / 2A and 10V /2.25A charging profiles. According to speculations, the NEX A may be a China-exclusive variant of the upcoming device, while the other two variants will hit markets outside of China as well.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-194405" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/nex.jpg?x44794" alt="vivo nex" width="728" height="297" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/nex.jpg 728w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/nex-300x122.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 728px) 100vw, 728px" /></p>
<p>Vivo NEX will sport a borderless design with a screen-to-body ratio near to 100 percent. In order to achieve this, the company has decided to implement a &#8220;periscope&#8221; selfie camera which can be extracted in a fraction of second from the top side of the device. According to reports, the top-end variant will offer an octa-core Snapdragon 845 SoC by Qualcomm, 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage, and it is expected to be launched with a listing price of more than $1000. But there will be also a more affordable variant with the new Snapdragon 710, 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. It is rumored to cost less than $800. Vivo will launch the NEX and its variants on June 12.</p>
