Samsung Exynos 9820 tipped to adopt a tri-cluster CPU like MediaTek deca-cores

Every year, Samsung comes up with a new flagship chipset to include inside the European versions of its Galaxy S series and Galaxy Note flagships. The next one should be called Exynos 9820 and according to a new leak, it may be way more interesting than its predecessors. According to the known leakster identified on Twitter by the nickname Ice Universe, the Korean giant is planning to adopt a tri-cluster architecture for its next top-end processor. The configuration should be 2+2+4 for a total of three clusters with different CPUs for each one.

Galaxy S10 Exynos 9820 chipset

According to the leak, the first cluster will include two custom cores Mongoose M4, while the rest of the clusters will include ARM cores. The second cluster should contain Cortex A76 cores, while the third one will be composed of efficient Cortex A55 cores. Further, Samsung Exynos 9820 will support the ARM DynamIQ technology which will make possible for the three clusters to work in every possible configuration. So, the phone should be able to automatically decide whether it is the moment to lower energy consumption or to enhance the performance. It is a similar architecture to the one used by MediaTek for the Helio X series composed of deca-core processors, with the difference that Samsung Exynos 9820 will be an octa-core chipset.

This SoC is rumored to reach a max frequency of 3.3 GHz, the highest frequency ever seen on a mobile chipset. The actual Exynos 9810 is an octa-core processor reaching a max frequency of 2.8 GHz, just like the Snapdragon 845 by Qualcomm. Samsung Exynos 9820 will debut with the European version of the Samsung Galaxy S10 line up and it should also be included in the Note 10, while the upcoming Galaxy Note 9 will still have the Samsung Exynos 9810. Do you think Samsung will be the most dangerous Qualcomm’s rival with this chipset?

Xiaomi Mi A2 will come in a Lite variant with a more affordable price

Xiaomi Mi A2 will be officially announced on July 24 and it will be a variant of the Mi 6X with Android One instead of MIUI. Given the huge success achieved by the Mi A1 last year, Xiaomi is also launching a Lite variant of the device which will be offered at a more affordable price. That lite variant or the Mi A2 Lite as it is officially known has appeared on a Polish retail site.

This isn’t the first time the Mi A2 Lite has surfaced online. About a month ago, it got certified in Singapore. The model number on the certification document is nearly identical to that of a Xiaomi phone on TENAA with a notch that hadn’t launched as at then. That phone later launched as the Redmi 6 Pro. Looking at the device on the Polish store, one can see it is the same as the Redmi 6 Pro.

In terms of processing power, the Mi A2 Lite won’t be different from the Mi A1 since they both have a Snapdragon 625 processor. However, the Mi A2 Lite comes with a modern design (read full-screen display with a notch) and packs a bigger battery.

Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite will come with a 5.84-inch Full HD+ (2280 x 1080) screen. It will have a full metal unibody design with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal storage under the hood. It will also have expandable storage.

There are dual cameras on the rear – a 12MP sensor paired with a 5 MP secondary sensor. It also has a 5MP front-facing camera. Note that the standard Mi 6X has a 12MP and 20 MP dual camera setup with a f/1.8 aperture, so the Mi A2 Lite won’t be able to match the Mi A2’s camera performance.

However, the Mi A2 Lite trumps the Mi A2 in one category and that is battery capacity. The phone packs a 4000 mAh battery which is significantly more than the Mi A2’s 3,000 mAh battery. Let’s also not forget that unlike the Mi 6X (Mi A2), the Redmi 6 Pro has a 3.5mm audio jack.

The device has been listed in black only, even though the Redmi 6 Pro it is based on also comes in red, blue, rose gold, and gold. There is a chance it may launch in more colors. It carries a price tag of PLN 1049, which roughly translates into $283, a little more than the launch price of the Mi A1.

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 spotted on TENAA listing

Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is imminent and just like everytime an official launch gets near, the handset in question receives all the necessary certifications. Today, the upcoming flagship phablet from the Korean hi-tech company at the first place in the world in the smartphones market has appeared on a TENAA listing. The handset is identified by the model number SM-N9600, a model number which leaves no doubts. Unfortunately, the Chinese regulatory agency did not reveal any detail about its specs. On the listing, we can only see that the device has Android installed and that it is a mobile device.

So, we still have to rely on the latest leaks and reports to have an idea about its specs. Samsung Galaxy Note 9 is supposed to come with a bigger 6.4-inch display than the Note 8, and it will obviously retain the AMOLED technology and an 18.5:9 aspect ratio. It will also come in a variant with a dual SIM slot integrated. According to the region, the SoC will be different just like every Samsung flagship. The European market is expected to get the variant with the octa-core Samsung Exynos 9810 chipset, while the U.S. and Chinese variants will mount a Snapdragon 845 by Qualcomm.

Despite Vivo has already released several devices with an in-display fingerprint reader, Samsung Galaxy Note 9 should still come with a traditional rear-mounted biometric sensor. The display will have the HDR10 compliant as well as a very high resolution (QHD or 4K), while the RAM will be at least 6 GB. There should not be a significative improvement to the camera setup. We should find at least two cameras on the rear side with 12 MP resolutions and a variable aperture, while on the front side we expect to see a single snapper. According to rumors, the Note 9 will come with an improved S Pen with Bluetooth support, as well as a big 4000 mAh battery. It will be unveiled on August 9.\

HTC Exodus blockchain smartphone coming this Fall

Bitcoin is in the middle of a consistent decline in the last few weeks, and the same goes with HTC as well. But the Taiwanese company seems to be believing in the cryptocurrencies as well as the blockchain, and it is about to launch a blockchain-based smartphone. The company has just confirmed that its blockchain-based device known as Exodus will be made official during this Fall. A website dedicated to the HTC Exodus project has already been set up, but there isn’t much info. Still, it is possible to register in order to receive updates about the device once they are available. Given its nature, we expect HTC Exodus to be a device guaranteeing the maximum security with cryptocurrency.

It should be able to act as a crypto wallet storing money inside its internal storage, and it should provide advanced methods of encryption. Besides HTC Exodus, the company has been working with the developers of the known game Cryptokitties and it will release an app focused on data security. This app has been tipped to launch even before the Exodus phone, and it should be first available on the latest HTC devices.

Sharp’s Aquos C10 and B10 phones leak before launch

Foxconn-owned Sharp is expected to launch in Europe this year but there is still no launch date yet. Early this year, a complete lineup of the phones heading to the continent leaked. Now, two of those phones have leaked again but with proper names instead of model numbers, along with some official renders.

Sharp Aquos C10
Sharp Aquos C10

First is the Aquos C10 which we think is the same device as the Sharp E-H1, though a few specs have changed. It still has a 5.5-inch 2040 x 1080 display with a notch similar to that of the Aquos S2 and Essential PH-1. It also still has a Snapdragon 630 processor.

What has changed is the rear camera which is now a dual combo (12MP + 8MP) instead of a single 16MP sensor. The front camera is also a single 8MP sensor and not a 20MP sensor. RAM is 4GB and storage is 64GB. It also runs Android 8.0 Oreo, has NFC, and packs a 2700mAh battery. It is expected to sell for €399 (~$465).

Sharp B10
Sharp B10

The Sharp B10 shares similar specs to the E-M1 that leaked in the product lineup. It has a 5.7-inch HD+ screen, a 1.5GHz octa-core processor, 3GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage. There are dual rear cameras, a fingerprint scanner, and a 3840mAh battery but it runs Android Nougat. It will have a €299 (~$349) price tag when it launches.

Nubia Z17 Lite has amazing specs and solid cameras for the price of just $165.99!

Nubia is the ZTE’s subsidiary brand that makes pretty good phones. The Nubia Z17 mini was released quite some time ago and due to recent price drops, it now offers insane value for the price of just $165.99!

[embedyt] https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UDPz6zyNxpI[/embedyt]

As a matter of fact, I have recently reviewed the Nubia Z17 mini which is a very similar phone to the Lite version. Therefore, I can easily recommend the both the Mini and the Lite models to anyone who is looking for a great budget smartphone.

The Nubia Z17 Lite has amazing specs for the price. The device ships with a powerful Snapdragon 652 chip that can easily handle most of the 3D games, 64GB of storage and 6GB of RAM. Other specs include powerful cameras (13MP+13MP sensors one the back and 16MP shooter on the front) and a 3200mAh battery.

The phone has thick bezels on the top and bottom but the bezels on the sides are very thin. That display is just brilliant as it is really sharp, it has a good contrast and punchy colors.

If you follow my channel, you know that I just love metal phones as they feel more premium and substantial to me. The Nubia z17 Lite is a great example. It’s well made, it feels nice in the hand and the phone looks very premium.

Overall, Nubia Z17 Lite is a great budget device that we can easily recommend as it now offers insane value for the price of just $165.99!

As we reported earlier, after launching its flagship smartphone in Europe and China, Oppo has now launched the Oppo Find X in India. The smartphone, which packs 8GB RAM and 256GB storage, is priced at Rs. 59,990, which roughly converts to $875.

The smartphone will be available in two color options — Bordeaux Red and Glacier Blue and will go on sale in India from 3rd August through online retailer Flipkart with pre-order starting from July 25. It will also be available for purchase from offline stores across the nation.

While only the 8GB RAM and 256GB internal storage variant is launched in India, Oppo has announced that the Lamborghini Edition will soon make its way to India.

OPPO Find X

The Oppo Find X comes with a 6.5-inch Full-HD+ OLED display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The display dominates the front side of the phone and it is touted as the world’s first smartphone to come with a screen-to-body-ratio of 93.8 percent.

The smartphone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor along with 8GB RAM and up to 256GB internal storage. The smartphone doesn’t have a fingerprint scanner, instead, it comes with O-Face (3D face unlock) which OPPO says has a failure rate of 1/1,000,000 compared to that of a fingerprint scanner which is 1/50,000.

Oppo Find X Camera

Unlike the Vivo NEX that features a pop-out front-facing camera, the Oppo Find X comes with a motorised sliding mechanism, which equips both — front as well as rear cameras. When this part of the phone slides out, it not only reveals the front camera and 3D face scanning sensors for unlocking the phone, it also reveals the dual rear cameras and LED flash. OPPO has termed it “Stealth 3D cameras”.

The 3D face unlock feature, which Oppo calls O-Face Recognition, uses 3D Structured Light Technology which scans 15,000 facial points. The company claims that it is 20 times safer than fingerprint recognition for unlocking the phone.

Oppo Find X 3D Face Unlock

According to the company, the slide-out mechanism pops out in just 0.5 seconds. The company says that the sliding mechanism has been tested over 300,000 times for durability. Oppo is promoting the motorised camera as a major breakthrough for the smartphone industry.

For the photography, the smartphone comes equipped with a dual camera setup that consists of a 16-megapixel + 20-megapixel sensors on the back with OIS and AI features. The front-facing camera sensor is of 25-megapixel for taking selfies. It comes with multiple 3D portrait lighting features and Omoji, which is OPPO’s own take on the iPhone X’s emojis.

Samsung Galaxy J6+ may arrive with Snapdragon 450 and massive battery

Samsung had launched the Galaxy J6, Galaxy J8, Galaxy A6 and Galaxy A6+ in May. These smartphones feature Infinity Display design that offers larger screen space. The Galaxy On6 that was introduced recently is available for purchase in India exclusively through online channels. The On6 is nothing but the rebranded version of J6. According to XDA Developers, the Galaxy J6+ is an upcoming phone from the company. It is speculated that the same phone may debut as On6+ in India.

The publication claims that its recognized contributors have come across firmware files for a Samsung device that is codenamed as “j6plte.” This handset is expected to debut as Galaxy J6 Plus LTE and it will be heading to CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) nations and Serbia. Since Samsung follows a pattern of rebranding its J-series smartphones as On-series phones, it is likely that the J6+ may debut as On6+.

The Galaxy J6+ will be borrowing some of its specs from the Samsung Galaxy J6 phone. Through the leaked firmware files, it has been revealed that the Galaxy J6+ will be arriving with a Super AMOLED screen of 5.6 inches. US government reaches an agreement with China’s ZTE Corp to lift ban

ZTE Corp, one of the leading Chinese telecommunication equipment manufacturer from China, was banned from doing business with the companies base in the United States. However, the company was in talks with the U.S. government to lift that ban.

The ban was imposed after ZTE Corp. broke an agreement reached after ZTE pleaded guilty in U.S. federal court last year for illegally shipping U.S. goods and technology to Iran, which is in violation of U.S. sanctions.

Now, the United States have announced that it has signed an agreement with ZTE Corp that paves the way for the Chinese tech giant to its resume operations after a nearly three-month ban on doing business with American suppliers.
