Motorola’s upcoming smartphones in the Moto G-series, as well as Moto E-series, have been leaked online. While we already know pretty much everything about the devices, except the pricing, another leak related to the Moto G6 Play has surfaced online.

Images of the Moto G6 Play have been leaked online through Taiwan’s certification agency NCC. Among other devices in the G-series, Motorola‘s Moto G6 Play is expected to be the most affordable model.

Recently, the phone’s specifications were leaked online through benchmarking website Geekbench. The phone will feature a 5.7-inch HD display with screen resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Under the hood, it is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 430 processor along with 3GB of RAM.

The phone will be running Android 8.0 Oreo operating system out-of-the-box and the device will be fuelled by a 4,000mAh battery. It will feature a 16MP camera on the back, as well as on the front panel. There’s also a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor.

One of the leaked images shows the box contents, including earphones. This suggests that the phone will retain the 3.5mm audio jack. The Moto G6 Play will be launched along with Moto G6 and Moto G6 Plus.

The company is also gearing up to launch new phones in Moto E-series. Lenovo-owned Motorola is expected to launch three models in this series — Moto E5, Moto E5 Plus, and Moto E5 Play. The Moto E5 Plus, along with Moto E5 has been certified by FCC in the previous month.

According to the latest report, the Moto E5 Plus could come in two variants — one with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor and another with a MediaTek MT675X processor. The report further suggests that the entire 2018 Moto E-range will come with dual rear camera setups.

As of now, there is no information available on the launch date and pricing of the Moto E5 series. Given that the Moto E4 series was unveiled in June last year, we are expecting this new E5-series to make its debut at some point in the second quarter later this year. On the other hand, the Moto G-series devices are also expected to launch in the Q2 2018.

Xiaomi First Airport Mi Home Store Opening March 10 At the Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport

Xiaomi did achieve a record high in shipment volume last year and also in the number of Mi Home stores opened across China. That feat is expected to continue this year and already the tech giant has kickstarted moves to ensure its products get to the hands of consumers. Xiaomi is now set to open its first airport Mi Home store located at the Shenzhen Bao’an International airport.

The Mi store will be officially opened on March 10 and the detailed address is Shenzhen Baoan Airport T3 Terminal F4 departure lounge (check-in island E rear). Apart from the airport-based store, the company will also open four other new Mi Stores at Changsha, Jiaozuo, Jinzhou, and Yuzhou.

Xiaomi had revealed in 2016 that it plans to open 1000 Mi stores across several cities in China by the year 2020. In order to achieve that target, the company’s CEO Lei Jun hinted back then that his company would open over 200 retail stores this year in 2017. The company ended up surpassing that target with its stores scattered across several cities in China. Apart from sales, the shops cater for after-sales service needs of customers as well as sales of accessories and technical support services.

The Vivo APEX has been getting lots of attention following its surprise MWC reveal. The phone’s unique feature is its over 90% screen-to-body ratio. To achieve that, Vivo decided to remove the camera from its usual position and make it pop up from the top, thereby providing more space for the display. It turns out that Essential already owns a patent with the same pop-up camera design.

The public reveal of the patent was done in an unusual way. A fan had called Andy Rubin’s attention to an article of the Vivo APEX and the CEO of Essential replied with a link to their patent with the same design.

The patent reveals it was filed back in May 2016 before we knew about the company’s existence, and it was granted in August of 2017.

One version shows the camera will pop-up from the right hand side of the top of the phone. It will protrude when the camera needs to be used and retract when inactive. In the image above, we can see the phone doesn’t have a notch and the screen reaches to the top. We can also see the outline for two rear cameras. The patent also says the retractable camera can be a front facing camera, a back facing camera, or even a 360° camera.

Vivo APEX Officially Launched with Snapdragon 845; Mass Production Begins by Mid-2018

Vivo has officially unveiled the Vivo APEX concept phone in China. It not only offers an impressive screen-to-body ratio of 91 percent, but also it is powered by Snapdragon 845 chipset. The handset is also equipped with under-display fingerprint scanner and a pop-up selfie camera.

The Vivo APEX has a 5.99-inch OLED display with COF technology. In order to deliver full screen experience, the Chinese manufacturer has embedded the ambient and proximity sensors under the display. The screen doubles up as earpiece and loudspeaker as both are placed beneath it. Unlike the under-display fingerprint sensor on the Vivo X20 Plus UD that is available only at one spot on the bottom portion of the screen, the half part of the display of the Vivo APEX is integrated with in-screen fingerprint reader. This technology is dubbed by the company as Half-Screen Fingerprint Scanning Technology. It carries support for multi-fingerprint recognition.

The thickness of the left and right bezels is only 1.8mm whereas the bottom bezel is of 4.3mm. The handset sports a slim profile of only 7.8mm. On the top edge is the hidden selfie camera that can be elevated when required. It takes only 0.8 seconds for the front camera to pop-up from the top. The Snapdragon 845 chipset is present under the hood of the Vivo APEX.

With System in Package (SIP) technology, the Vivo APEX offers Hi-Fi audio experience. It is also equipped with three amplifiers and DAC. The camera of the phone supports Super HDR that has a limited dynamic range of up to 14 EV. It is based on the principles of multi-frame compositing and smart optimization, along with ultra-dynamic, multi-frame preferences, character optimizations, natural tones, and advanced AI Algorithm.

Vivo is yet to disclose information on RAM, storage, front and rear camera configurations and battery capacity of the APEX smartphone. Through today’s unveil event, the Chinese manufacturer has confirmed two main things. The first is that the APEX phone will include the highly potent SD845 chipset and the other thing is that it will begin its mass production by middle of this year. As of this writing, there is no confirmation on the pricing of the Vivo APEX.

The phone was initially spotted on a billboard a few days back and now, the same phone has been spotted in another poster. Given that the company has kicked off the promotions for this new model, we can expect an official announcement anytime in the coming weeks.

We don’t know much about the hardware of the Vivo V9 except for its 24MP selfie camera up front. The phone is unsurprisingly taking its design inspiration from Apple’s iPhone X, just like most other Android manufacturers in the market. However, this time around, rumours claim that the Vivo V9 could be a more powerful model, featuring Snapdragon 660 with dual cameras at the back. We can confirm the dual cameras from the poster along with a rear placed fingerprint sensor. So, it looks like the V9 series won’t be having the under display fingerprint sensor. That’s likely reserved for the X series.

Huawei, the China-based phone manufacturer is gearing up to launch its flagship series — Huawei P20 at a launch event on 27th March in Paris, France.

HTC is expected to soon launch the successor of its HTC U11, which is likely to be named HTC U12. The device was apparently shown off at a 5G industry event about a month ago.

Now, we have phone’s specifications, thanks to the leak by LlabTooFeR, a ROM developer who has a good track record for leaking HTC-related things. The specifications of the phone leaked are in line with the previous leak.

According to the leak, the phone will feature a 5.99-inch QHD+ display with an aspect ratio of 18:9 to offer the trendy full-screen display. Under the hood, the device will be powered by Qualcomm‘s flagship chipset, Snapdragon 845, which will be powering most of the flagship phones this year.

The leak also suggests that the HTC U12 will pack 6GB RAM and a whopping 256GB of internal storage. Further, the phone is said to feature a dual camera setup on the back comprising one 12-megapixel sensor and one 16-megapixel Sony IMX3xx unit. Xiaomi Mi MIX 2S Teaser Promises Stellar AI Camera Capabilities

At the end of this month, Xiaomi will be launching the Mi MIX 2S flagship as its first Snapdragon 845 chipset phone. Two days ago, the company had claimed that it would be revealing an important news about the Mi MIX 2S in this week. Now, at the very beginning of this week, the company has teased on Weibo that the camera of the Mi MIX 2S will possess AI capabilities. Here is the image that the company has teased on Weibo.

The Weibo post that accompanies the image suggests its fans to look carefully at it and guess whether the effect is made through camera’s feature or AI software. The post goes on to say that the Mi MIX 2S will be coming with technological breakthrough in AI and photography. It could mean that the phone may feature AI for other things, but the image clearly hints that it will be effectively using AI in photography.

The firmware files of Mi MIX 2S had revealed that its camera will be blessed with scene recognition. For enhanced photography, it will be able to identify various kinds of scenes such as doc (document), flower, food, sky, sunrise/sunset, cat, dog, green plants, night, snow, sea, autumn, candlelight, car, grass, maple leaves, succulent, building, city, cloud, overcast and backlight.

It is speculated that the Mi MIX 2S would be arriving with Sony IMX363 camera. It is the very same camera sensor that is found on the ASUS ZenFone 5 and ZenFone 5Z smartphones that were recently unveiled. Some rumors have claimed that the Mi MIX 2S will be coming with dual rear cameras and Sony IMX363 could be one of its lenses.

Xiaomi MI MIX 2S has already teased in the previous week it will be able to churn better performance than other rivals using the same chipset. The reason behind it is that Xiaomi and Qualcomm have reportedly worked together to enhance the performance of Snapdragon 845. It may feature up to 8 GB of RAM and up to 256 GB of storage.

The handset is also speculated to feature a 6.01-inch OLED display and it is likely to arrive with under-display fingerprint scanner. A 3,400mAh battery may power it and it come loaded with MIUI 9 flavored Android 8.0 Oreo. The handset is slated to get announced on March 27.

Last month, Xioami launched its latest phones in the Indian market — Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro. At the time of launch, the devices were launched in two color variants — Midnight Black and Gold.

Recently, it was revealed that the company could launch a new color option, Lake Blue. As it turns out, the company is introducing two new color variants for both devices — Lake Blue and Rose Gold. These both new color options have been listed on online retailer Flipkart as well as company’s official online store.

Further, in a response to a comment on Facebook, the company has promised some surprise in the upcoming sale on 7th March. This hints that the company could start selling all four color models of the phone from 7th March in India.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro went on sale in India for the first time on 22nd February. According to the company, it sold 300,000 units of the Redmi Note 5 and Redmi Note 5 Pro in under 3 minutes.

While the Redmi Note 5 series is currently available in India only, Xiaomi’s Product Marketing Director Zang Zhiyuan had recently confirmed that the company would be launching the Redmi Note 5 in China in March. It has now been confirmed that the devices will be will be unveiled in China on March 16th.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 5, which is the successor to the Redmi Note 4 — is priced at Rs 9,999 for the 3GB RAM and 32GB storage variant and Rs 11,999 for the 4GB RAM and 64GB variant. On the other hand, the Redmi Note 5 Pro costs Rs 13,999 for the 4GB RAM and 64GB variant and Rs 16,999 for the 6GB RAM and 64GB ROM option.

The Redmi Note 5 is powered by Qualcomm‘s Snapdragon 625 processor and features a 12-megapixel rear camera with a f/2.2 aperture along with an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. The Redmi Note 5 Pro packs Snapdragon 636 processor and features dual camera setup of a 12-megapixel Sony IMX486 sensor and a 5-megapixel secondary sensor. On the front side, it features a 20-megapixel Sony IMX376 camera sensor.

Both the devices feature the trending full-screen display with 18:9 aspect ratio. The devices are running on the latest MIUI 9, based on Android 7.0 Nougat operating system out-of-the-box and are powered by a 4,000mAh non-removable battery.

Twitter Survey Shows Nokia Was The Most Mentioned Brand at MWC 2018

Nokia is back and there are indices to show that the HMD Global controlled company still commands a huge followership. The company made its sophomore appearance at the MWC 2018 after its first appearance since HMD took over the reins last year at MWC 2017. At the just concluded MWC, Nokia managed to collect several awards, more than two dozens by our count, during the 4-day event. Nokia’s CEO put the number of awards at 21.

Apart from collecting that record number of awards, it has now emerged that Nokia was the most mentioned brand during the trade fair. Despite the presence of heavyweights such as Samsung, Apple, Google and Huawei, the Finnish company is revealed in a survey published by Brandwatch in partnership with Twitter to have stolen the show. The survey showed that Nokia was number 1 most mentioned brand, followed by Samsung at the second position and then Huawei, Google and Apple in that order.
