Smartisan stunned the tech industry last week when it launched the Snapdragon 660-powered Nut Pro 2 premium mid-range smartphone with a rather cheap price tag. The Smartisan Nut Pro 2 has already been shown in a series of hands-on photos that showcase the outward beauty. Also, we have seen the camera samples of the model which points at a great camera setup. Now, the Nut Pro 2 has been given the teardown treatment, showing the entire design of the internals.
Disassemble photos or videos are not intended to be repair guides even though it can be used to grab an idea of how to open the smartphone in a bid to change a faulty battery or other parts. The Nut Pro 2 like most smartphones come with a non-removable battery and thus, the glass panel at the back is sealed with glue. The service of a heat gun is employed to slightly soften the gum, thereafter a suction cup is used to separate the glass back from the metal fuselage and then you can separate all parts using a pry tool. Removing the back cover reveals the battery and other internals. You can check out photos of the entire process from below.
Just to refresh your memory, the Smartisan Nut Pro 2 features a 5.99-inch in-cell display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and a 2160 x 1080 resolution. The device is powered by Qualcomm’s latest premium mid-range Snapdragon 660 SoC and there are up to five memory variants. You get a 4GB RAM + 32GB ROM variant, 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM, 6GB RAM + 64GB ROM, 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM, and 6GB RAM + 256GB ROM variant. Camera wise, a 16MP F/2.2 camera sits at the front, while at the rear there is a dual camera setup which has a 12MP Sony IMX386 primary sensor with 1.25um wide-angle sensor, f1.8 aperture and PDAF. It teams up with a 5MP Samsung S5K4E8 1.4um secondary sensor with f2.0 aperture. The secondary camera is a depth of field sensor which utilises the ArcSoft dual camera bokeh technology.
In addition, there is a 3500mAh battery under the sleek body with fast charging technology. The phone is also a dual SIM phone and has the USB Type-C port and NFC on the high-end variant. There is no 3.5mm audio jack but inside the packaging box, you’ll get a 3.5mm to USB-C adapter.
Do you remember the Samsung Galaxy Round released in 2013? What about the LG G Flex and LG G Flex 2? What these three phones have in common is that they all launched with a flexible curved display. News has it that Chinese smartphone manufacturer, Doogee will be launching a similar device in the near future.
Remember the Galaxy Round and LG Flexes? Well next year Doogee will try its hand at a curved screen device, with 18.5:9 aspect ratio, 6GB of RAM, and 128GB storage. pic.twitter.com/NFD6TaYloX
The info about Doogee’s upcoming smartphone was revealed on Twitter by Evan Blass (@evleaks). In his tweet, he said the unnamed Doogee phone will launch next year.
However, the device won’t stop at a curved display. It will also have an 18.5:9 aspect ratio, 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage. There is no word on the chipset of choice, camera configuration, and battery capacity. One can only hope the rest of the specifications are equally impressive.
The Smartisan Nut Pro 2 released last week is easily one of the best-looking phones to come out of China. It is available in 5 different variants with varying RAM and ROM configurations. The most powerful variant which packs 6GB of RAM and 256GB of storage is now officially on sale.
Not only does it pack an insane amount of storage, this variant also has NFC with eSE (embedded Secure Element). eSE is a tamper-proof chip that stores sensitive data such as card details that is then made available only to authorized applications and people. This is necessary for phones that support contactless payment.
Other features of the phone are the same as the other variants. It has a 5.99” FHD+ display and is powered by the Snapdragon 660 mobile platform. There is a 12MP + 5MP dual camera combination on the back and a single 16MP camera for selfies.
The Smartisan Nut Pro 2 has dual SIM support, a rear mounted fingerprint scanner, and a 3500mAh battery with support for Quick Charge 3.0.
In the previous month, well-known tipster Evan Blass had shared small-sized images of some of the Alcatel smartphones that will be launching in 2018. Now, the leakster has shared “decent sized” renders of the upcoming Alcatel 1x, 3c, 3, 3x, 3v and 5.
Among the above devices, the Alcatel 1x seems to be a low-end smartphone as it does not seem to feature a fingerprint reader. Alcatel 3 seems has a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. The Alcatel 3c has a glossy back panel that features a rear-facing fingerprint sensor and a speaker grille.
Alcatel 5
The Alcatel 3x and 3v are fitted with dual rear cameras and rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. The 3x phone seems to feature slimmer bezels and dual front cameras. The last one is the Alcatel 5 which seems to be a top-tier phone. It appears to feature an 18:9 display, a metallic body, a front-facing LED flash for the selfie camera and a single rear camera.
As of this writing, there is no information available on the specifications of the aforementioned Alcatel phones. Rumors suggest that Alcatel will not be releasing IDOL branded phones in the next year.
The new Alcatel phones revealed by Blass are speculated to replace the IDOL lineup. It is likely that the new phones from the company may get announced in January 2018 at Consumer Electronics Show (CES).

Huawei announced its new EMUI 8.0 based on Android 8.0 Oreo during the launch of the Mate 10 series last month. As a result of the new Custom ROM, Huawei is set to upgrade older models to the new version and one of the models to get the upgrade is the P10. The Huawei P10 was the first flagship model that was launched at MWC earlier this year, along with the P10 Plus.
Huawei has now launched the Android Oreo-based EMUI 8 Closed Beta upgrade for the Huawei P10 and its sibling, the P10 Plus. Registration for the Closed Beta program for the P10 and P10 Plus will run from November 14 – November 16 and applicants would need to sign up using an account number and the serial number of their mobile phone.
This isn’t the first Closed Beta that Huawei would be launching, though, as the Mate 9 series, as well as the Honor V9, had earlier seen recruitment for EMUI 8 closed beta. With this development, we believe more models would get upgrade programs soon. However, a full upgrade package for the Stable ROM may not be available until early next year.
It would be recalled that the Mate 10 series launched with a new Kirin 970 chipset which came with Artificial Intelligence features. The interface also offers artificial intelligence but due to hardware differences, some older models may not have this feature enabled on the new EMUI 8.0 ROM ut all other features of the new interface not dependent on specific hardware requirement would be available to users.
In September, Vivo had unveiled the Vivo V7+, but the Vivo V7 was not introduced alongside it. Today, the company has officially unveiled the Vivo V7 in Indonesia. The smartphone is also scheduled to debut in India on Nov. 20.

The backside of the Vivo V7 has an f/2.0 aperture 16-megapixel camera. It is equipped with features like PDAF and single-LED flash. It also possesses the ability to shoot 64-megapixel Ultra HD images by stitching multiple images.
The Vivo V7 features a 5.7-inch FullView IPS LCD display that offers an HD+ resolution of 720 x 1440 pixels. It delivers an aspect ratio of 18:9. The smartphone produces an excellent viewing space as it offers a screen-to-body ratio of 83.6 percent.
The Snapdragon 450 chipset that powers the V7+ also fuels the newly unveiled V7 phone along with 4 GB of RAM. It includes a 3,000mAh battery that lacks support for fast charging. It has an inbuilt storage of 32 GB and it has a dedicated slot for adding a micro SD card. The connectivity features of the Vivo V7 include 3.5mm audio jack, microUSB, Wi-Fi, v4.2 Bluetooth, USB OTG, GPS and GLONASS. The rear panel of the phone features a fingerprint reader.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is slated to release on Dec. 15. Fresh information suggests that OnePlus may release a special edition version of OnePlus 5T in celebration of the upcoming Star Wars movie.
A news report on XDA Developers that has been taken down for unknown reason stated that an anonymous reader found plenty of references for Star Wars in the OnePlus 5 Android Oreo closed beta build. After digging more into it, it was found that there could be a special edition of the forthcoming OnePlus 5T.
It was discovered that the OxygenOS seems to be tied to the theme of the movie as there is a reference to the color accent of Star Wars in the code finds. The string “accent_star_wars” was found in APKs for Launcher, Settings and System UI. The hex code for the accent color is #ff2837 which is similar to the dark red color that can be found on the posters of the forthcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Hence, the speculated limited edition of OnePlus 5T may sport the same color on its exterior.
OnePlus has previously released special edition smartphones like the OnePlus 3T Colette edition and Midnight Black variant for 3T. In September, the Chinese firm had also released OnePlus 5 JCC+ edition. Hence, it is likely that the Chinese firm could be prepping a special version of the OnePlus 5T to promote the new Star Wars movie.
OnePlus 5T will be officially announced on Thursday. The Chinese firm is unlikely to announce the rumored Star Wars edition of the OnePlus 5T at its launch event. The limited edition variant may get unveiled around the release date of Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Honor V10 is an upcoming flagship phone that is slated to get announced on Dec. 5 in London, U.K. An official launch invitation that has been shared on Honor’s Weibo account reveals that the company would be debuting the Honor V10 in Beijing, China on Nov. 28 before introducing it in London.
The above launch invitation shows that the Honor V10 will not only feature dual cameras but also it will be enabled with AI capabilities. Previous reports have revealed that the 16-megapixel + 20-megapixel dual camera setup arriving on V10 will not have Leica branding.
Honor CEO Zhao Ming has recently confirmed that the Honor V10 will be powered by Kirin 970 and it will be running on EMUI 8.0 flavored Android 8.0 Oreo. The Kirin 970 that features a dedicated NPU unit for handling AI is the same chipset that powers the Huawei Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro.
The Honor V10 is rumored to feature a 6-inch display by BOE. The screen is expected to deliver an aspect ratio of 18:9. The Mate 10 Pro also features an 18:9 aspect ratio supporting 6-inch display. Since the smartphone will be coming with a full screen design, the fingerprint scanner will be placed on its rear side.
It is expected to arrive in variants such as 6 GB RAM + 64 GB storage and 8 GB RAM + 128 GB storage. Like the Mate 10 Pro, the Honor V10 is also speculated to house a 4,000mAh battery that will carry support for 22.5W rapid charging.
Since the Honor V10 borrows a lot of features from the Mate 10 Pro, it is expected to arrive as a toned-down version of the Mate 10 Pro. However, it is yet to be confirmed whether it will be featuring a 3.5mm headphone jack or IP67 resistance. The Mate 9 Pro came with a metallic body, but the Mate 10 Pro that features a full screen deign is equipped with a glass + metal chassis. Since Honor’s “V” series phones have also always featured metallic body, the V10 may not feature a glass and metal combination chassis.
Motorola has shown commitment to its take on modularity by regularly releasing new Moto Mods for the Moto Z series. Its latest moto mod is the Polaroid Insta-share Printer.
Just like the name says, the mod turns your phone into a Polaroid camera, letting you instantly print pictures you take or have on your phone instantly. You can even add filters and frames to your pictures and even print from Facebook, Instagram, and Google Photos.
Think of this as a portable version of Fujifilm’s Instax series. The Polaroid Insta-Share Printer mod uses Zink™ Zero-Ink™ Paper for printing 2 x 3” photos. It requires no ink and can be stuck on any surface.
Using the mod is easy. Just flip the back of the Mod open like in the image below and load it with the Zero-Ink (ZINK) paper. Select a photo from your phone or take a new picture by pressing the physical capture button on the Mod. Print it, peel off the adhesive tape and stick on any surface.
The Polaroid Insta-Share Printer Mod has a 500mAh battery that should last for up to 20 prints. It weighs 188g and recharges via USB-C. The Mod can hold up to 10 sheets of printing paper (1 pack) at a time. Since this is a Mod made in collaboration with Polaroid, you can order Polaroid’s 2 x 3 inch ZINK paper to restock from stores like Amazon.
The FCC listing of what could be the Meizu M6 Note sparked rumors that Meizu was aiming to enter the US market soon. However, Meizu’s Head of Global Marketing, Ard Boudeling, clarified to Androidauthority that Meizu had no plans to enter the US market with smartphones, at least not right now. He did add that the FCC certification of the phone was required for its entry into other American markets, which is a good indication that the company is all set to enter other markets nearby.
Meizu M6 Note One Piece edition
The M6 Note is one of the best budget dual camera mid-rangers in China right now and its entry into newer markets in America could give the boost it deserves. In fact, Meizu has confirmed the launch of the M6 Note in one more market — India, soon. The phone checks almost all the features that you would expect in a budget smartphone, including a 5.5-inch 1080p display, 4000mAh battery, Snapdragon 625 chip, 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.
M6 Note China pricing
In China, the phone starts at around $165 for the 3+16GB variant and goes up to $255 for the 4+64GB version. Expect the prices to be slightly higher than these figures when it’s launched in other markets.
While Meizu’s accessory lineup may not be as wide as Xiaomi, the company does have a few interesting products up their sleeve. And earlier today, this Zhuhai based Chinese manufacturer made a small new addition to its accessory lineup with the new USB Charging Cable with an LED indicator. Naturally, given the two different connector options available in the market today, the company will offer this cable in both USB Type-C and MicroUSB options.
The highlight of the new connector is the white LED light on the USB Type-C / MicroUSB end of the cable. The company says that the LED will make it easier to connect your smartphone at night. The cable is 1m long and features a nylon braided design which makes it anti-tangle and anti-stretch. The connectors are made out of aluminum alloy with CNC machining and are scratch resistant.
Meizu, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer, has teased a new smartphone launch in the Indian market. The company has tweeted a promo image but has not yet revealed the launch date.
The promo image posted by the company contains the number 6, and also resembles the Meizu M6 Note’s dual camera setup. Its noteworthy that the company has not specifically mentioned that the phone is getting launched. However, the company has used the hashtag #StayTrue on the image, which was used for the initial launch of the smartphone in China.
The company has also posted another image which features a quad LED flash, confirming that the device is indeed Meizu M6 Note.
The Meizu M6 Note smartphone has a beautiful metal unibody, and is expected to be available in Blue, Champagne Gold, and Obsidian Black colours. The smartphone comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD display with a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and a 2.5D curved glass on top.
It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor along with Adreno 506 GPU. The device is available in three variants — 3GB RAM with 16GB internal storage, 3GB RAM with 32GB onboard storage and 4GB RAM with 64GB of internal storage. All these variants of Meizu M6 Note comes with microSD card support for expanding the storage capacity.
On the optics front, there is a 12MP Sony IMX362 rear camera, which has a ƒ/1.9 ultra-wide aperture, and a 1.4μm pixel CMOS image sensor. It also has a 5MP Samsung 2L7 secondary camera sensor at the back. The phone also features a 16MP front camera with a ƒ/2.0 wide aperture.
The smartphone runs on Flyme OS 6.0, which is based on Android 7.1.2 Nougat operating system. It comes powered by a 4,000mAh battery that supports mCharge 18W fast charging and promises up to 10 hours of gaming. It also sports fingerprint scanner on the front, embedded in the phone’s home button.
Recently, Meizu also teased Meizu Pro 7 smartphone launch in India and now the company has teased M6 Note Pro smartphone launch. There is a possibility that Meizu could launch both the devices in India.
Xiaomi has rolled out MIUI 9 update for a barrage of smartphones, Xiaomi models that is. The new update is for the China ROM and it is the biggest single rollout since the release of the MIUI 9 Stable ROM. This is coming about three months since the first MIUI 9 China Developer ROM was released. Xiaomi also commenced OTA push of MIUI 9 China ROM on October 31st but that was for a few models.
Right now with this release, MIUI 9 China ROM is now available for a total of 18 models. The models include the Mi 6, Mi Max 2, Mi Note 3, Mi Note 2, Mi 5X, Redmi 4X, Redmi Note 5A, Redmi Note 5A Prime, Mi 5s, Mi 5, Mi 5c, Mi MIX, Mi 5s Plus, Redmi 5A, Redmi Note 4 Qualcomm/Redmi Note 4X, Mi MIX 2, Mi Note Pro, Mi 4S, Mi 4c.
If you own one of the models and wish to flash the ROM on your smartphone, you can download all the ROMs from here. Do remember to back up all important data before flashing and don’t attempt this if you have no idea how to flash a Custom ROM on your smartphone. Xiaomi advises that those flashing from Beta ROM to Stable ROM needs to clear all the data before flashing so as not to get issues of system incompatibility such as no signal and rebooting. Those already running Stable ROMs wouldn’t need to clear all data. Xiaomi touts the MIUI 9 ROM based on Android 7.0 Nougat as fast as lightning, among of features.
The mass production of the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ flagship smartphones will reportedly begin from next month. Fresh suggests that Samsung may announce the Galaxy S9 early in next year and it will come with some new features like anti-glare camera and wireless AKG headset.
Galaxy S9 Launch Date
According to the tweet shared by a leakster, the Galaxy S9 and S9+ may launch early in 2018. Previous reports have revealed that the Galaxy S9 and S9+ may debut a day ahead of the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018 that will be held between Feb. 26 to March 2. Samsung has used this strategy in 2014 and 2015 to debut the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S7 respectively.
However, the arrival of the Galaxy S8 duo was delayed this year, probably because of the Galaxy Note 7 debacle. Hence, the Galaxy S9 and S9+ are speculated to launch on Feb. 25 in 2018. Through the above tweet, the leakster also claimed that the Galaxy S9 duo would be equipped with dual cameras.
He also claims that the Galaxy S9 would be borrowing some “tricks” from the iPhone X. However, it is known as to what could be the source hinting too. However, it is likely that just as the Apple had introduced Face ID feature on the iPhone X, Samsung to may add a robust facial scanning feature on the Galaxy S9.
According to another leakster who has been consistently spilling accurate information on upcoming flagship phones from Samsung, the Galaxy S9 would be arriving with a new AKG headset. The South Korean company is already offering AKG tuned headset with Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8. However, the tipster claims that the company may provide Galaxy S9 users with Bluetooth-enabled AKG headset.
Some may assume that the Galaxy S9 may not feature standard audio jack since the company is speculated to provide users with wireless AKG headsets. However, the leakster has emphasized that the 3.5mm headphone will not be axed from the Galaxy S9 and S9+.
Recent reports have revealed that the Galaxy S9 duo are rumored to arrive with vertically stacked dual rear cameras. The leakster claims that the camera of the S9 “uses anti-glare BBAR layer ghost technology.” BBAR could possibly mean Broadband Anti-Reflection coating that resists glare and dual images.
There is no information on why the Galaxy S9’s camera will feature BBAR coating because the cameras on Samsung’s premium phones already feature anti-glare coatings. The new kind of coating that the leakster is referring could mean that the Galaxy S9 may feature some sort of improved anti-glare coating for the new set of dual rear cameras.
Samsung is rumored to be working on Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ smartphones. Recent reports have revealed that the company would be mass producing the Galaxy S9 duo starting from next month. Fresh speculations that the Galaxy S9 and S9+ will be also accompanied by Galaxy S9 Mini.
According to ValueWalk, this mysterious smartphone could be the upcoming 4-inch Galaxy S9 Mini smartphone. However, the publication is only speculating on the information shared by a Weibo leakster who claimed that Samsung is working on a less than 5-inch premium smartphone that will be equipped with an Infinity Display.
The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ smartphones respectively feature 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch Infinity Displays. Last year’s Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge respectively house 5.1-inch and 5.5-inch displays. Even though the screen sizes on Samsung’s flagship phones have increased significantly, recent reports have revealed that there is still demand for small-sized smartphones. This was the reason why Apple had introduced iPhone SE last year.
Apple is rumored to launch as many as three full screen iPhones in 2018, but rumors that had surfaced earlier in this month had claimed that the company may debut a 4-inch iPhone SE 2 in Q1 2018. The rumored Galaxy S9 Mini could be a very competitor for the alleged iPhone SE 2.
Samsung did not release “mini” versions for Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S6. Hence, there is a possibility that it may not launch a compact edition for Galaxy S9. Since there is no concrete evidence to prove the existence of iPhone SE 2 and Galaxy S9 Mini phones, we advise our readers to take this report with a pinch of salt.
The upcoming 2018 editions of the Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A7 are rumored to respectively feature 5.5-inch and 5.7-inch Infinity Displays. These phones will allow users to enjoy Samsung’s full screen design with an affordable pricing. The 2018 Galaxy A5 and A7 have received Bluetooth SIG approval and FCC certification in the U.S. and are rumored to launch in next month or in January 2018.
Since many full-screen design phones have launched in the recent past, there is no denying that it is the latest trend in the smartphone industry. Chinese companies are offering full screen phones at various price segments and here’s a list of the top full screen smartphones from China in 2017.
ZTE Nubia Z17S
ZTE had unveiled the Nubia Z17S flagship phone alongside Z17 Mini S in October. It boasts a premium appeal because of is aviation-grade aluminum body that is coupled with 3D glass and bezel-less design.
5.73-inch LCD display supporting 1,080 x 2,040 pixels resolution
Xiaomi started the trend of full screen smartphone by debuting the Mi MIX concept phone last year. Even though the new Mi MIX 2 is smaller compared to the predecessor, it is a wonderful looking smartphone that features a curved ceramic rear panel that is coupled with 7000 series aluminum alloy frame. There is a special edition Mi MIX 2 that features a ceramic unibody too.
The Mate 10 and Mate 10 Pro flagship phones sport metal unibody design with a unique textured pattern running on the back panel where the dual rear cameras are placed. The Mate 10 duo are fueled by Kirin 970 that is accompanied by NPU chip for handling AI. Users can also enjoy desktop mode on a larger display by connecting the Mate 10 or Mate 10 Pro to it.
The Vivo X20 and X20 Plus are upper mid-range full screen smartphones. The stellar dual rear cameras of the Vivo X20 duo are coupled with Vivo Image Cube dual-core image sensor processor. These phones also carry support for facial recognition for unlocking.
Vivo X20: 6.01-inch FHD+ AMOLED display, 3,250mAh battery
Vivo X20 Plus: 6.43-inch FHD+ AMOLED display; 3,900mAh battery
The Oppo R11s and R11s Plus are also upper mid-range phones. These phones also feature amazing dual rear cameras. The selfie snapper of the OPPO R11s duo supports AI Beauty which can beautify the portrait shots by enhancing facial features.
