Remember earlier this month, we spotted three new OnePlus 2 models on the Bluetooth SIG website? Well, today, we may have some clarity about these models as a new leak suggests that OnePlus is planning to release three new devices later today.
The first two including the OnePlus A2005 will be smartphones. One will be the standard OnePlus 2 variant, while other being the OnePlus 2 Lite model. The OnePlus 2 is expected to come with at least 5.5-inch display (2K resolution probably) along with 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM. On the other hand, the OnePlus 2 Lite version should come with a 5.5-inch 1080p display with 3GB of RAM. Finally, the third model is expected to be the OnePlus 2 tablet. Unfortunately, there’s not much information available about this tablet.
Anyways, given that the OnePlus event starts in a few hours, we don’t have to wait too long to get answers. The event will be available in VR for the first time, but you can watch a non-VR version as well. Also, the company has started accepting registrations for the invites, so if you are planning to purchase the device, do register your mail from this link.
Just a few days before, Chuwipushed an Over-The-Air(OTA) update for its latest tablet-pc, the Hi8 with the latest version of Windows 10. The latest update should expectedly improve the performance of the device over-all. This is in addition to it Android upgrade to v5.0 Lollipop. According to pad.zol.co.cn , the tablet would handle boththe OSsfine as it has Intel’s improved Z3736F quad-core chip clocked at 2.16Ghz with 2GB of RAM and Intel’s7th Gen HDGraphics .
Now the tablet has a huge selling point for its customers as it has the latest version of both the OSs. The high resolution 1920×1200 display along with it compact 8” form-factor, gives it a nice well balanced and crispy(282 PPI) experience of the latest OSs. The tablet is only available in ‘Swan Lake inspired’white colour with metal framing that would supposedly improve the user experience.
Though both the systems along with the high resolution display is heavily taxing, the company claims a battery life of about 3 hours of screen-on-time, which is pretty low for a tablet. This is due to its comparitively low battery cappacity of 4000mAh. Thanks to the improved Intel CPU and GPU, users can expect around 6 hours of usage before the device gives up. Nevertheless, the tablet is a good choice for people who look for the best price to performance ratio. The tablet is availble on retail at around US $245.
More ZUK Z1 news today, this time with images found in the TENNA database (Chinese Ministry of Communication), we now have a clear idea of what the Z1 will look like.
The front sports a fairly clean look with the rectangular home button (featuring ZUK’s new proprietary U-Touch system), finally on show
The rear again is a very clean and unfussy design with just the camera, flash This looks as though it might be dual tone LED) and the ZUK logo.
It is not particularly clear in the pictures but on one side their does appear to be a hole for a sim removal tool to be inserted, this would certainly fit well with the previous suggestions that the phone will be a unibody device with non removable rear cover or battery, the other side appears to show the power and volume rocker keys.
Teclast is one of the Chinese manufacturers, which makes cheap tablets and accessories. This time around we are looking at a very cheap tablet, which costs just over $100. In addition, it has a dual-boot feature meaning that you can either use it as an Android or Windows tablet. It sounds pretty cool on paper but how does it fair in reality? Let’s find out.
16GB (expandable via microSD card slot up to 64GB)
Teclast X80HD Dual-boot Tablet Review: UNBOXING
The Teclast X80HD tablet comes in quite a huge box that makes an impression that the tablet is bigger than 8″ if you haven’t opened the box yet. Once you do that you can find a regular micro USB cable, USB OTG cable for storage expansion (also, there is a microSD card slot for that) and some instruction manuals.
Teclast X80HD Dual-boot Tablet Review: DESIGN
Allright, the star of the show is a tablet, which has an 8″ display. It is a very compact device, which can be great for travellers.
On the top side there is a selfie snapper. It has a ridiculously small megapixel number – 0.3.
The back of the device is made out of textured plastic material, which does not attract fingerprints at all (a huge plus). In addition, there are a lot of things going on here as you can find tons of writings both in English and Chinese. The most import I should say is the model number and the type of the processor.
On the bottom side there is a single speaker. In addition, it says that it has 32GB of storage but you have to keep in mind that storage is split up to two different operating systems. You have only 7GB in Android and 14GB in Windows user available storage. A good thing is that you can add a microSD card up to 64GG and the files stored on it are accessible via both operating systems.
On the top there is a 2MP shooter meaning that you will be able to capture up to 1600 x 1200 pixels images.
On the left side you can find a microSD card slot, which supports the cards up to 64GB.
On the right there is a volume rocker along with power on/off switch. All the buttons have a great tactile response.
The top side is pretty busy as there are quite a few ports that include a headset jack, microUSB charging/syncing port and microHDMI port.
On the bottom there is a little hole for the mic.
Overall, the Teclast X80HD tablet is a very compact device and you can easily hold it in one hand. However, the tablet is made out of plastic material, which does not add any premium look or feel. On the other hand, it is well built and I love the fact that it has a textured back to prevent the device from attracting fingerprints and smudges.
Teclast X80HD Dual-boot Tablet Review: DISPLAY
The display has a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. It is an IPS type panel but it is far from the best panels I’ve seen. Firstly, it could be definitely sharper and sometimes I think that it looks like a qHD resolution display. Secondly, it could be a bit brighter. The brightness output is okay indoors but you can’t see anything under direct sunlight outdoors. Finally, the display has a somewhat reflective coating, which gives kind of a mirror effect. All in all, the display could see a lot of improvements and it is not the best out there.
Teclast X80HD Dual-boot Tablet Review: Android UI
The tablet runs a dated Android 4.4 Kitkat OS. Overall, it is almost a stock Android experience but you are getting a bunch of Chinese bloatware out of the box. In addition, it would be naive to expect an upgrade to Lollipop anytime soon.
Overall, the UI is running smoothly and there are no hiccups even with a lot of tasks running in the background. You may need to say thanks to a decent chip inside and a fair amount of RAM.
Teclast X80HD Dual-boot Tablet Review: Windows 8.1 UI
So here’s one of the highlights of the Teclast X80HD tablet. Once it is booting up, you can choose either Android or Windows 8.1 operating system. If you do not choose it within 10 seconds, the system automatically loads up the last used OS. However, you cannot simply change the OS you are working on it as you have to restart your device first.
The device runs allegedly a legal version of Windows 8.1. It is actually pretty cool to have a desktop like experience in your hands. I’ve tested with a few legacy apps that I used to use on Windows (I’m a Mac user for a few years now) and everything is running smoothly.
In addition, the OS works fine even when there are quite a lot of windows opened. Well, there is enough of sheer power to play with and it seems that Windows 8.1 OS is well optimised for tablets. Moreover, I runs better than my old laptop which has better specs but does not have SSD disk, which may be the cause of the whole laggy performance.
I doubt if you would be able to run the latest graphically intensive games on this tablet but this is not what is design for.
Basically what you can do with it is to connect a keyboard and a mouse via USB or Bluetooth and use this little tablet for the Microsoft apps you’ve been using for years e.g. Word, Excel etc. Overall, for the price of $100 the Windows experience is not bad at all and it would be unfair to expect more.
Teclast X80HD Dual-boot Tablet Review: BENCHMARKS
1 of 7
The Teclast tablet does a really impressive job in the benchmarks category for this price range. I guess that the Intel chip along with 2GB of RAM and Intel HD Graphics GPU is a great combo to assure that.
The graphically intensive games work without lags. However, there are a few issues. Firstly, the graphics look quite bad like on a low end device (well, it is). Secondly, the device gets hot very quickly. There are no warnings in the UI but it just feels uncomfortably hot. On the other hand, only the top back part has this issue and you do not feel the heat that much as don’t touch that area with you fingers once you are gaming.
The performance on Windows 8.1 OS is good for a tablet. Well, it does get a bit warm as well but it is not a deal breaker. Of course, it would not replace your laptop for highly intensive tasks like gaming or video editing but it is a great companion for other productivity tasks and running legacy windows apps you you’ve been using for years.
Teclast X80HD Dual-boot Tablet Review: MULTIMEDIA
1 of 5
The multimedia experience on this tablet is great overall. Everything is running smoothly both on Android and Windows. However, the loudspeaker could be better. Firstly, it is placed on the back side, which is a very bad idea on a tablet. Secondly, it could be much louder as sometimes you just want to keep pressing the volume up button to hear the audio.
Teclast X80HD Dual-boot Tablet Review: BATTERY LIFE
The Teclast X80HD tablet has a 4500mAh non-removable battery, which has an average life. As the Geekbench 3 test suggests, the screen-on time can be over 5 hours (tested on max. brightness, dim screen off). However, doing some more intensive tasks will drain the battery faster.
The battery life on Windows is about the same but again, it can be much worse if you do a lot of intensive tasks.
Overall, the 4500mAh battery does a fair job for the 8″ screen tablet but I would love to have a bit more time off the charger.
The tablet does not have calling feature as it does not have a SIM card slot since it is a Wifi only device. Speaking of Wifi, the range is not the best but quite good. It usually gets 1 bar less than my iPad but it is the same like my vivo Xshot smartphone.
As far as the Bluetooth connectivity, it works fine.
Keep in mind that the device does not have a GPS receiver, which is a very odd thing.
So there you have it, a Teclast X80HD dual-boot tablet. For a $100 you are getting a plastic made device, which does not feel premium but it does not feel very cheap either as the build quality is good.
In addition to this, you are getting two operating systems in a very compact package. Unfortunately, you cannot simply hot-swap these systems as you have to restart a device first to choose one.
Moreover, both OSs work fine on a daily basis but the hardware is not designed to drive the most graphically intensive tasks like gaming as the device tends to heat up a little and the graphics simply look poorly.
I would say this is a great little tablet for the money but I was disappointed by the screen quality. Well, it is not the worst but it simply has to be better on a tablet.
On the other hand, you are getting some other great features like MicroSD card slot, which can be easily swapped as it is embedded on the right side of the device. Also, you can easily hold the tablet in one hand as it has tiny bezels on the sides. Finally, it is a versatile option for those, who want both operating systems for a very cheap price in a compact size.
Last but not least Gizmochina readers are getting a generous $10 discount for Teclast X80HD tablet that can be used on Pandawill.com with a DISCOUNT CODE: x80promo . Keep in mind that the promo code is valid till 07/28/2015.
Elephone have just released the very first hands on video of the upcoming Vowney handset, as many of you are already aware the phone is set to feature a 5.5″ 2K resolution (2560 x 1440 @ 535ppi) display, powered by a Mediatek MT6795 Octa Core SOC (4 x Cortex A53 and 4 x Cortex A57 cores) clocked at 2.2GHz and IMG G6200 700MHz GPU, along with 4GB Ram and 32GB Rom.
The phone is also said to sport a 21mp rear camera (Sony IMX230 being most likely) and an 8mp front facing camera.
Design wise its a great looking handset and from the video it would appear that dual sim cards are accessible via separate trays on the side of the phone, it is unknown wether one of these will be of the sim/sd card choice type.
At the bottom of the phone you can see what appears to be holes for dual speakers (although this could be purely cosmetic) and what looks like a standard micro USB port.
Whats more interesting is that the phone appears to be running Elephone’s custom ELE UI, it will be interesting to see if this or the P8000 will be the first phone to officially launch with the new UI.
Yet again Doogee strikes with their F3 Pro, a budget flagship that will impress you with the tricks that doesn’t not even their competitors offer. It has some ‘Pro’ features over its sibling Doogee F3 that includes a RAM boost from 2GB to 3GB and from 720p to 1080p display. Both the phones are eye catching with the company’s ‘zero bezel’ approach that some customers are logging discomfort.
The phone has MTK6753, a 64-Bit Octa Core processor clocked at 1.5GHz and the camera seems to be made by Samsung. The battery in both of the flagships seems to be low as compared to its rival Lenovo K3 Note which has a 3000mAh battery as compared to F3’s 2200mAh.
Nevertheless the phone offers premium features and the company hopes to grab a spot on the market with it. The phone is available for pre order from Geekbuying.com and will start shipping to you from August 17, 2015.
We know that our readers love giveaways. And we are already giving away one of the most anticipated phones of 2015, the OnePlus 2 to one lucky winner next month. The ZUK Z1 backed by Lenovo and will be powered by a Snapdragon chipset, its as yet unconfirmed which SOC will be in the handset, what would you like to see? the 810 v2.1 or possibly the 820? leave a comment below, along with 3GB of RAM, 64GB Rom, USB Type-C 3.0 port (for faster data transfers and quicker battery charging), as well as ZUK’s U-Touch home key featuring fingerprint unlock as well as other cool controls.
The rest of the specs are currently subject of speculation but are rumoured to include a 5.5″ 1080 x 1920 resolution screen, a 13MP Sony IMX214 rear camera, and a 4000+mAh battery designed for heavy users.
Pricing has yet to be announced, but hopefully it will be reasonable and bring the phone inline with the One+ 2
ZTE is aggressively promoting its upcoming launch of the ZTE V5 series flagship. In fact, the company wants to directly compete (and beat) the Meizu M2 which will be announced before the end of this month. So, it looks like the new V5 series model will be targeted at the mid-range crowd (1000 Yuan?).
Now the company has just given out a few details about the upcoming handset. The ZTE V5 series flagship is reportedly coming with a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset with a large battery and large storage. Of course, this information isn’t specific, but it does give us an idea about the device. If we were to speculate, then we would expect a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 chipset inside, with around 3500mAh battery and probably 32GB of storage.
Well, this isn’t the only details we have about the device. A few hours later, the company revealed more details about the handset. So, now we know that the V5 model will run on a customized version of Android 5.1, support all the three carries in China, comes with fingerprint ID and finally, feature an all metal body.
Interestingly, some of these features were already revealed to us, thanks to the images of the device that leaked recently. The phone had an all metal body, with a fingerprint sensor at the back. So, the leaked images could very well turn out to be the real deal.
Anyways, since ZTE is eager to tease about its upcoming V5 flagship, we will wait and see if there are any other interesting features on the device. Pricing is one thing that we are particularly interested at the moment, because it has to be anywhere below 999 Yuan to compete with Meizu’s Blue Charm range. Anyways, we will keep you guys updated with more information in the coming days.
According to the images revealed by TENAA, the flagship will feature an iPhone 6 like design with a metal frame with smooth round edges going around the whole body. The front features a basic design, however you can see the rectangular physical home button just below the display. This will reportedly feature the company’s innovative UTouch tech.

Coming to the back, there will be a round camera sensor on top with color temperature flash. Like we saw in the render, the ZUK logo will be located near the bottom. Today’s renders also revealed a slightly curved back, which is probably because of the 2.5D glass back. Further, there was the reversible USB Type-C 3.0 port at the bottom with speakers and microphones on its either side.
While TENAA didn’t reveal the full tech specs of the device, the Chinese website Anzho reports that the ZUK Z1 will feature Snapdragon 808 processor and a large 4100mAh battery. Its hard to judge the exact thickness of the device from these pictures, but they look quite normal. It would really be an achievement if the company managed to pack in such a large battery in a decently sized device.
ZUK Z1 Renders Revealed By CEO
Along with these specs, we know a lot about the upcoming device. It will come with 3GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, dual SIM dual Standby, USB 3.0 Type-C port, and U-Touch fingerprint ID. What we don’t know is the camera size, but we hope to get those details too in the coming days.
OPPO is having a Selfie Party in Los Angeles next week. The company has apparently sent out invites for the event with an image of the selfie stick, hinting that its recently announced product could make it to the American shores in the coming days.
The company announced the new selfie stick back in May. It will clamp to your phone, connect via your 3.5mm headphone port and will extend to help you capture the perfect selfies. There’s a shutter button on the handle, which lets you take pictures, ideal for group selfies.
Given that everyone is obsessed with selfies these days, it might be a good idea to launch its own selfie stick in North America. OPPO is also known to have amazing front facing shooters to seal the deal, like in the case of OPPO N1 which features a rotating camera. The rear 13MP shooter comes forward when you want to take front facing shots. So, you get the same high level picture quality from the front, as you usually do with your rear camera.
Up until now Elephone have chosen to include a near stock version of android on their phones, but that could all be about to change.
We have received a video showing the new ElE UI in action, it looks very clean, almost MIUI like and features some really nice touches like real time weather widgets, user definable icon sizes, slide to change from app folder to app folder, slide up on desktop to add widgets, hundreds of online themes (Elephone have also advised that the source code for this will be released allowing people to create their own UI’s), support for popular search engines.
Elephone have not yet announced when the UI will be released, or indeed which phones it will support, but I for one would love to see the UI appearing on the P8000 when it is released tomorrow (25th July).

From what we have heard till now, Lenovo’s newly launched brand, ZUK is going to release a pretty high-end flagship, ZUK Z1 next month. The company has already confirmed a bunch of awesome features on the device like a 4000mAh+ battery and USB Type-C port. Now, just a few days before the release, ZUK CEO Chang Cheng has given us a glimpse of what the new ZUK flagship will look like.
He just released a new render of the ZUK Z1 on weibo which tells us a bit about the design of the device. We can see a metal frame that goes around the body as well as a slightly curved back. From the image, it looks like the back is 2.5D glass. At the bottom, there’s the USB Type-C reversible port as well as speakers on one side and microphone on the other.
One thing to note here is that, the Type-C port that you see in the picture, is not your regular port. It actually supports USB 3.0 specification which means faster data transfer speeds (up to 5Gbps theoretical) and faster charging speed.
Back in February, we reported that Xiaomi’s ROM, MIUI had crossed 100 million users worldwide. That number will have increased significantly in the past 6 months for sure. Despite its tremendous popularity, the company is yet to announce the new version of MIUI 7 based on Android 5.1 Lollipop. However, it looks like the release date is coming near as new rumors state that Xiaomi is all set to announce MIUI 7 on August 16.
According to the leakster called Leaksfly, Xiaomi will announce the new MIUI 7 version on August 16. If you have been following Xiaomi for the past few years, you would know that the date is special. Almost every year on August 16, the company keeps a big conference with new discounts and promotions. It also happens to be the date when the company announces its new MIUI version annually. For example, the company released MIUI v6 last year on the same date. So, it makes sense for the company to continue with the tradition and release the new OS.
Most of Xiaomi’s smartphones are expected to be upgraded to the new OS. So, phones like Mi3, Mi4, Mi4i, Xiaomi Mi Note series and Redmi Note 4G could be upgraded to this Android 5.1 powered version after the release.
Unfortunately, the company is yet to confirm this news. So, stay tuned for more details.
Elephone have sent over a video that shows (in a non-scientific) the differences in strength between the P8000 chassis and the iPhone 6 chassis.
Whilst we cannot be certain of the exact amounts of pressure being exerted upon the different frames, it does appear that the P8000 has a distinct advantage over the iPhone 6 (and most likely over the P7000 that came before).
With the release date set for the 25th of July we should hopefully find out more very soon.
ZTE released a teaser a couple of days back for its upcoming launch of the ZTE V5 series smartphones on July 29. Now, the company has sent out invitations for the event, and this is when things get interesting. Remember the invite for the Meizu M2 last week? It came with Nokia 1110 inside! And guess what, the invite sent out by ZTE for its V5 series launch also come with Nokia 1110.
But there’s another twist. Apparently, the company is sending out smashed Nokia 1110s with the invite. Now, why are these Chinese companies so obsessed with Nokia 1110? Apparently, this was one of the best selling phone in the market at that time. So, the phone has a significant place in the industry.
It looks like ZTE is trying to send a message here. It wants to defeat the Meizu M2 and a smashed Nokia 1110 seems to be the best way to convey this message.
Anyways, we will have to wait and see what both the companies have in store for us at the end of this month. Once again, things are getting interesting near the month end, so stay tuned!
Meanwhile, alleged images of the new ZTE V5 model were leaked recently featuring an all metal body. You can check that out from here.
OnePlus is doing everything in its power to prove that the upcoming OnePlus 2 is really a flagship killer. One thing we are still unsure about is its camera, but we have seen enough samples to guess that its going to be at par with current flagships. To prove this point, the company CEO Liu Zuohu had earlier compared the OnePlus 2 night camera samples and macro samples with iPhone 6S and Samsung Galaxy S6 respectively.
Today, the CEO has revealed a few more night camera samples from the OnePlus 2 and directly compared with the mighty LG G4. To be honest, the OP2 night camera performance looks way better than the first generation model, but we can’t say much given that these samples come directly from the CEO. So, they are bound to be good. We will have to look at the real life performance to make conclusions about its camera unit.
As you can see from below, the camera performance of the OP2 is comparable to the LG G4. We can’t really say that it beats the G4, but its quite close.
We leave it up to you to decide which ones better. You can check out the samples from down below.
Xiaomi has released so many products in the past few months, that its quite hard to keep a track of all of them. Among the releases this year, the Xiaomi Redmi 2A was particularly special because it was the cheapest Redmi device in the market. In fact, it still is one of the cheapest smartphones with pretty good specs.
Naturally, given that the phone retailed for just 499 Yuan ($80), it was destined to sell like hotcakes. And today, Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun has just confirmed the numbers. He revealed a few minutes ago that Xiaomi has sold over 5.1 million units of the Redmi 2A in the first three month of launch. This is a significant achievement for a new product like the 2A which yet to reach a number of international markets. To give you a perspective, Meizu managed to sell only about 8.9 million devices in the entire first half of 2015.
Another thing to note here is the presence of the local Leadcore L1860C quad-core chipset inside the Redmi 2A. Instead of the traditional Qualcomm or Mediatek chips, the company went with the Leadcore SoC to limit the cost and looks the strategy worked well.
Anyways, it will be interesting to see if the momentum continues in the coming months too.
UMI Hammer has been a tremendous success for the company. Although its been only a few months since the device hit the markets, the company is already prepping for the release of its next generation model, the UMI Hammer S. The device brings a lot of needed upgrades in the series, and keeps the same pricing.
Earlier today, UMI Official revealed more details about its UMI Hammer S model via its Facebook page. The phone is confirmed to feature the reversible USB Type-C port, usually found only in high-end flagships. Further, it will come with a 5.5-inch display, with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. Under the hood, there will be the MT6735 quad-core chipset.
USB Type-C isn’t the only premium feature that you get at this price. The UMI Hammer S also comes with a fingerprint sensor at the back. Given the super cheap $129 price tag, the phone turns out to be a great option for potential buyers. The design is also pretty attractive, further making it a great buy.
The UMI Hammer S will be hitting the markets sometime in August, which is just a few weeks away. By then, we are sure to get more details about the specifications of the device like the battery, camera and the display resolution.
Huawei just announced that it will be releasing a new flagship smartphone at IFA Berlin in September this year. At that time, we were almost sure that this new phone was going to be the awaited Mate 8 flagship. However, earlier today Chinese media reported that the company might postpone the release of the Mate 8 to the end of this year, or next year. Instead, it would release another device in the Mate family at IFA.
It is said that the Kirin 950 which is supposed to power the Mate 8 will only be released sometime in October. So, the company could announce a different smartphone at the September event, like an upgraded version of the Mate 7, probably called as the Mate 7 Plus or the Mate 7S.
In fact, we have already seen a couple of renders, which could be of the new smartphone. While we guessed that it could be the new Mate 8, but after considering this report and the striking resemblance to the Mate 7 flagship design, the leaked renders might be of the Mate 7 Plus. The phone is also said to come with surprising new high-end tech. But the report failed to specify any details.
Unfortunately, Huawei has not yet announced any details about its new Mate flagship. So, we will have to wait until we get some concrete information about the upcoming device.
