Philips has just announced the Philips Evnia 27M2N5500, a new 27-inch gaming monitor with a sustainable design and high-performance features.

The Evnia 27M2N5500 boasts a 1440p IPS panel with a 180Hz refresh rate and a quick response time of 1ms GtG (or 0.5ms MPRT) to ensure sharp and smooth visuals. It also has VESA DisplayHDR 400 certification as well as 125%, 93.5%, and 89% coverage of the sRGB, DCI-P3, and Adobe RGB color gamuts, respectively. The monitor also comes with LowBlue Mode to reduce eye strain.

Sustainability is a key focus as the monitor’s ergonomic stand uses 35% recycled plastic, and the chassis is 85% post-consumer recycled plastic.

The display features a couple of HDMI 2.0 ports, four USB 3.2 Type-A downstream (2x fast charge B.C 1.2), a USB Type-B upstream, a display port 1.4, and a 3.5 mm jack.

The Philips Evnia 27M2N5500 will be available in May 2024 for £239.99 ($305).

Huawei‘s HiSilicon division, responsible for Kirin chipsets, is showing signs of recovery in the smartphone chipset market. According to Canalys data, the company shipped 8 million Kirin units in the first quarter (Q1) of 2024, generating $6 billion in revenue.

It’s a significant increase compared to previous quarters, but Huawei still lags behind major competitors. Huawei did manage to surpass Google’s chipset shipments and revenue in Q1 2024 though. Google only shipped 2 million of its smartphone SoCs and generated $2 billion in revenue from it.

Samsung and MediaTek are the big giants in the industry with shipments far more than Huawei. Samsung shipped 18 million units for $9 billion, while MediaTek led the pack with 114 million units but only secured $23 billion.

Qualcomm also sold a whopping 75 million smartphone SoCs and managed to earn $37 billion this quarter. Apple, the leader in chipset revenue, saw a decline in both shipments (49 million units) and revenue ($56 billion) compared to the same period last year.

Despite a modest market share of 2.7% in Q1 2024, Huawei’s resurgence is impacting the market. Apple, particularly, is experiencing pressure on its chipset revenue and shipment momentum.

The trend is expected to continue with the upcoming launch of Huawei’s Mate 70 series in October and the HarmonyOS Next operating system in September. HarmonyOS, designed in-house by Huawei, will reduce dependence on Google’s Android platform.

All in all, the data shows a gradual comeback for Huawei in the chipset market. However, the company faces an uphill battle to reclaim its previous market share against established players like Samsung, MediaTek, and Apple.

The Roborock Qrevo S robot vacuum has been released. The new Roborock product comes with a more powerful suction system than its predecessor and also at a lower price. The Roborock Qrevo S has a self-cleaning docking station, automatic mop fitting, and obstacle avoidance.

The Roborock Qrevo S unveiling in the US comes on the heels of the earlier release of the Roborock Qrevo and Qrevo MaxV. It has a 7kPa suction power that is more powerful than the general model. It has a main rubber brush and dual-spinning mops. The mop is automatically lifted when the robot detects a carpet. The Qrevo S omits some of the features present in the more expensive Qrevo MaxV. The vacuum lacks a FlexiArm mop and dirt detection functionality is absent.

The Qrevo S uses LDS laser navigation and obstacle avoidance technology to carry out the cleaning task. It can operate optimally in a room area of 30 square meters and can be controlled via its companion app. The docking station is slightly shorter than the original model and identical to the MaxV vacuum. The self-cleaning feature of the Qrevo S is activated when the robot arrives at the docking station. The robot’s mop will be automatically washed and dried with air. The machine can deliver up to 7 weeks of hands-free cleaning.

Pricing & Availability

The Roborock Qrevo S robot vacuum is available in the US for $799. Roborock has not provided any details on the availability of the Qrevo S outside the US.

The device also comes with dust protection, utilizing a high-density metal filter to ensure minimal dust accumulation and optimal airflow.

The Beelink SER8 comes with a USB4 interface that allows for eGPU integration. Poco, the Xiaomi sub-brand has unveiled its first-ever tablet – the Poco Pad. While not boasting entirely unique features, the Poco Pad positions itself as a mid-range option for both entertainment and work. So let’s get into its specs and features here.

Poco Pad Specifications

The centerpiece of the Poco Pad is its 12.1-inch 120Hz LCD display with a 2.5K resolution and support for 68 billion colors. For a comfortable viewing experience, the display offers a peak brightness of 600 nits and DC dimming for flicker-free visuals at lower brightness levels.

The aspect ratio is 16:10, which caters to both entertainment consumption and productivity tasks. Entertainment features include quad speakers with Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision support for enhanced video streaming.

Design-wise, the Poco Pad boasts a sleek metal unibody design, measuring just 7.52mm thin and weighing 571g. It comes in two color options: Gray and Blue.

Battery life is another highlight of the tablet, with Poco claiming the 10,000mAh battery can last up to 16 hours of continuous video playback. It supports 33W fast charging and Poco claims that a 15-minute charge can provide enough juice for 26 hours of music playback.

The software is Xiaomi’s HyperOS, which offers some integration features with compatible HyperOS phones. Users can cast their phone screen to the tablet, drag and drop content between devices, and share a clipboard. You can also tether a phone just via a single tap.

Poco is also offering several accessories to improve the tablet’s functionality. There is a Poco Pad Cover for basic protection, while you can use the Poco Pad Keyboard to increase productivity. For note-taking and sketching, users can opt for the Poco Smart Pen.

Price and Availability

The Poco Pad is available for purchase starting today at an introductory price of $300 for the sole 8GB/256GB configuration. After the launch promotion ends, the regular price will be $330. The Poco Pad Keyboard is priced at $80, the Poco Smart Pen at $60, and the basic cover at $20.

Samsung is rumored to offer a major redesign to the Galaxy Buds’ “kidney bean” shape with the upcoming Galaxy Buds 3 series. According to reports from a Korean publication, a stem will be added to the design, that will make it longer and look something like the bean is sprouting.

While the description above is still kind of vague and there isn’t any image of a prototype available, the addition of a stem suggests a similarity in design to Apple‘s AirPods.

Possible advantages of the longer design:

Samsung has been offering the same design since the beginning and call quality with it is considered to be inferior due to the mic not pointing directly towards the source of sound. Adding a stem like the AirPods could make it easier for Samsung to improve the aspect.

Additionally, the speculated design could also offer more room for internal components. The extra space can either be used to pack a larger battery for a higher single-session battery life or to add additional equipments that are necessary for AI-related features.

The company added its interpretation feature to the Galaxy Buds earlier this year with an update. Samsung could be planning to add more AI-related features to its earphones that may require additional hardware resources.

For those unaware, the Galaxy Buds 2 already houses several sensors including gyro that enable head movement tracking and notify users when they keep their head down for more than 10 minutes. It can help prevent neck and back pain. However, there aren’t any health tracking features as of now, where the company is actually focusing on the aspect and working on a dedicated device, the Galaxy Ring, just for the purpose. It won’t be shocking if Samsung adds some similar functionality to its upcoming audio product, which will surely benefit from an increased internal volume.

However, the Galaxy Buds 2 and Buds 2 Pro earbuds already weigh 5.0g and 5.5g respectively, which is relatively heavier than many, and adding more hardware resources may make it even heavier. Nonetheless, Samsung will likely reveal whatever they’re doing with the Buds 3 series in the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked event scheduled for July 10.

The Realme GT 6T finally launched in the Indian market, with impressive specs and features. However, there is another smartphone that is available in this price range, which is the Motorola Edge 50 Pro. But on paper, the Realme device seems better. Here’s why.

1. Realme GT 6T vs Motorola Edge 50 Pro: Realme literally outshines

Realme’s latest GT 6T sports a tall 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED display that offers variable 120Hz refresh rate, Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2, HDR, and Full HD+ resolution. Motorola features a similar 6.7-inch curved pOLED display but with a higher 144Hz refresh rate, HDR10+, and Full HD+ resolution.

However, the latter lacks LTPO technology, which helps in conserving battery. But the greatest edge that the Realme GT 6T has is its peak brightness of 6000 nits compared to the Edge 50 Pro’s 2000 nits. This makes Realme GT 6T have the highest brightness smartphone display on the market.

2. Refreshed Processor

Under the hood, the Realme GT 6T is the first smartphone in India to launch with the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 3 SoC. This is a slightly upgraded version of the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3, which powers the Edge 50 Pro. The Motorola device also offers up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage, while the Chinese brand tops out at 12GB + 512GB storage configuration.

3. Bigger Battery & Faster Charging?

Motorola unveiled the Edge 50 Pro is two charging variants. The base 8GB + 256GB option only offers 68W wired fast charging, while the 12GB + 256GB option supports 120W wired fast charging. But for this price, the Realme GT 6T offers 125W wired fast charging on every variant. The battery on the GT 6T is 1,000mAh larger than the Edge 50 Pro. The former is powered by a 5,500mAh cell, while the latter houses a 4,500mAh battery.

4. Built for Gaming

Realme has placed an emphasis on a smooth gaming experience on its latest GT model. The Motorola Edge 50 Pro isn’t in any way bad for mobile gamers, however, the GT 6T comes with certain features that offer it an advantage. It comes with Geek Power Tuning mode that helps change the CPU and GPU frequency and GT Mode 5.0, which brings AI frame stabilization, atomic-level resource scheduling, and GPU heterogeneous rendering for maintaining a stable high frame rate. For cooling, the device even offers a 9-layer ice-cooling vapor chamber covering a total area of 10,014mm².

5. Pricing

Realme launched the GT 6T for a starting price tag of 30,999 INR for the base 8GB + 128GB. While the storage is half of the Motorola Edge 50 Pro, the charging rate is twice as fast. The 12GB + 512GB option of both devices carry an identical 35,999 INR price tag. Currently, there is also a 4,000 INR discount on the Realme GT 6T, which makes it a lot more affordable. This deal can be availed by ICICI Bank, HDFC, and SBI card holders.
