<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The Mi 11 Lite 4G was unveiled in late March with </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/MIUI-12/"><span style="font-weight: 400">MIUI 12</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> based on </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Android-11/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Android 11</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">. The phone is being gradually introduced in markets around the world. It </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2021/06/22/xiaomi-mi-11-lite-india-launch-price-specs-features/"><span style="font-weight: 400">launched in India</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> this week.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Three months after its announcement, the ‘Global’ variant of the handset has started </span><a href="https://t.me/MIUIUpdatesTracker/13996"><span style="font-weight: 400">receiving</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> the </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/MIUI-12-5/"><span style="font-weight: 400">MIUI 12.5</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> update with build number </span><b>V12.5.3.0.RKQMIXM</b><span style="font-weight: 400">. Unsurprisingly, the software build is in the ‘Stable Beta’ phase. In simpler words, the update is being pushed in batches.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">On the other hand, the Mi 8 Lite is a fairly old device. It launched in 2018 with MIUI 9 based on Android 8.0 Oreo. So far, it has received </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/MIUI-10/"><span style="font-weight: 400">MIUI 10</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">, </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/MIUI-11/"><span style="font-weight: 400">MIUI 11</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">, and MIUI 12 updates, in addition to Android 9.0 Pie and </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/Android-10/"><span style="font-weight: 400">Android 10</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400">.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">Now, Xiaomi has started rolling out the MIUI 12.5 update for this phone. The update is currently </span><a href="https://t.me/MIUIUpdatesTracker/13995"><span style="font-weight: 400">live</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> in China with build number </span><b>V12.5.1.0.QDTCNXM. </b><span style="font-weight: 400">It is being seeded out in batches.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-weight: 400">The latest system update for both these smartphones should reach the other regional variants in the coming days. Last but not least, this should be the last-ever major update for the Mi 8 Lite. It will not receive </span><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/MIUI-13/"><span style="font-weight: 400">MIUI 13</span></a><span style="font-weight: 400"> update like the Mi 11 Lite 4G.</span></p>

<p>In a surprise twist, Xiaomi seems to have pushed MIUI 11 beta update to the <a href="http://gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-8-lite">Mi 8 Lite</a> and it is based on Android 10. <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/mi_8_lite_miui-11.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-294769" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/mi_8_lite_miui-11.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="320" height="676" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/mi_8_lite_miui-11.jpg 320w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/mi_8_lite_miui-11-142x300.jpg 142w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/mi_8_lite_miui-11-199x420.jpg 199w" sizes="(max-width: 320px) 100vw, 320px" /></a></p>
<p>The Mi 8 Lite could be regarded as an old smartphone, launched in September 2018 running Android 8.1 Oreo-based MIUI 10. The phone soon got updated to MIUI 10.2 which ushered in Android 9 in February this year. This new update was spotted by Piunikaweb and it is for the  Chinese Beta ROM. However, its appearance is an indication that Xiaomi is likely working to bring Android 10-based builds of MIUI 11 to the phone but we can&#8217;t say if it will affect the Global Stable branch. There is even a link to download the update file but since it is the Chinese Beta build, you won&#8217;t get Google Play Store onboard.</p>

<p>The Mi 8 Lite is the least powerful model in the Mi 8 series and according to Xiaomi&#8217;s co-founder Wang Chuan, he is working overtime to bring the Mi MIX 3&#8217;s Super Night Scene algorithm to the Mi 8 Lite.</p>
<p>The super night scene mode which is similar to the Pixel 3&#8217;s Night Sight greatly enhances photos taken in low-light or at night. There is no info yet on when the feature will roll out to the device but we expect it to come after that of the Mi 8 SE.</p>

<p>Earlier today, the manufacturer released a poster that teased Xiaomi&#8217;s <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-8-lite/">Mi 8 Lite</a> for its choice of processor. The poster was actually shared first on Weibo by <a href="http://gizmochina.com/tag/lenovo">Lenovo&#8217;s</a> CEO before it was reposted by the official Weibo account with a caption that teases the Mi 8 Lite for having a Snapdragon 600 series processor.</p>
<p>If Lenovo is teasing the Mi 8 Lite for having a Snapdragon 600 series SoC, that means it isn&#8217;t using a 600 series chipset in the Z5s which the Snapdragon 678, assuming it even exists, falls under.</p>
[envira-gallery id=&#8221;227368&#8243;]
<p>We re-examined the poster that originally said the phone will have a Snapdragon 678 processor and what we deduce is that Lenovo is teasing the phone will come with a processor that belongs to the <strong>6</strong>00, <strong>7</strong>00, or <strong>8</strong>00 series, hence <strong>678.</strong></p>
<p>There are rumors the chipset in the phone is actually the Snapdragon 710 like the Lenovo Z5 Pro but there is no confirmation yet. Other confirmed features of the phone are triple rear cameras and Android Pie pre-installed.</p>

<p>Lenovo also released a few more posters and camera samples of the phone which is scheduled to launch on December 18 at the Lenovo Global Headquarters in Beijing.</p>

Now the handset is getting Android P soon as Xiaomi released a beta for the handset on its forums today. Currently, Xiaomi is seeding Android Pie to its Mi 8 and Mi 8 Explorer Edition as well, as we found out last week. Moreover, the Mi MIX 2s and the POCO F1 were also treated with high priority with regards to Android Pie. Since the beta has kicked off, we will probably see a stable Android Pie version for the handset soon.</p>
<p><a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Xiaomi-Mi-8-Lite-Youth-Fantasy-Blue-1.jpg?x44794"><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-212665" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Xiaomi-Mi-8-Lite-Youth-Fantasy-Blue-1.jpg?x44794" alt="" width="1280" height="720" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Xiaomi-Mi-8-Lite-Youth-Fantasy-Blue-1.jpg 1280w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Xiaomi-Mi-8-Lite-Youth-Fantasy-Blue-1-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Xiaomi-Mi-8-Lite-Youth-Fantasy-Blue-1-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Xiaomi-Mi-8-Lite-Youth-Fantasy-Blue-1-1024x576.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1280px) 100vw, 1280px" /></a></p>
<p>It is to be noted that beta versions usually have unaddressed bugs and issues that not all users are very comfortable with. So, if you&#8217;re more of a stable ROM user, you should stay away from this particular beta. Also, there are no details regarding the features of the new beta version right now. However, we will update readers as soon as there&#8217;s more info on it.</p>
<p>The Mi 8 Lite/Youth Edition was the first Xiaomi smartphone with a cool gradient color design. It has a stunning mirror effect glass on the back similar to the Huawei P20 with Twilight Gold and Dream Blue flavors. The handset has also been released globally after its Chinese launch making its way to countries like Taiwan, Ukraine, France, and Mexico.</p>

<p>The poster shows a train and has some text which when translated includes the words “Youth” and “Tomorrow”. It doesn&#8217;t say much but comments on the Weibo post hint at a new phone targeted at the younger generation.</p>
<p>Some say it is a new variant (color/RAM + storage) of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-8-lite/">Mi 8 Lite</a> while others think it may be a Lite version of the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-mix-3/">Mi MIX 3</a>, probably a Snapdragon 710-powered version that can take on the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/lenovo-z5-pro/">Lenovo Z5 Pro</a>.</p>

Now, the company is all set to launch in the UK and will launch its own store in London as well as it partnered with telecom operator Three UK to sell its phones. In the UK, Xiaomi will offer its products with a contract through a carrier as well as offer SIM-free products.</p>

<p>Mobile operator Three has confirmed that Xiaomi devices will be sold online and in its 327 high-street stores from Friday 9 November. Xiaomi products will be available for purchase in the UK soon after the launch at 2 PM on 8th November through Mi Store and Xiaomi&#8217;s online store in the UK.</p>
<p>Now, a new image posted by the Chinese company reveals that <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi/">Xiaomi</a> is holding a launch event in the UK on 8th November. The image teases a smartphone having an in-display fingerprint sensor and an infinity symbol which could also be interpreted as &#8220;8&#8221;. This hints that the company is planning to launch the Mi 8 Pro in the UK. Along with the Mi 8 Pro, we also expect the company to launch a few other smartphones, including the Lite variant of the Mi 8.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="size-full wp-image-221149 aligncenter" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Xiaomi-UK-Launch-Event.jpg?x44794" alt="Xiaomi UK Launch Event" width="728" height="242" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Xiaomi-UK-Launch-Event.jpg 728w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/Xiaomi-UK-Launch-Event-300x100.jpg 300w" sizes="(max-width: 728px) 100vw, 728px" /></p>
<p>The Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro features a 6.21-inch Super AMOLED display having 2248 x 1080 pixels screen resolution with a notch on top. In terms of camera, there are dual 12MP sensors on the back with OIS and optical zoom. On the front side, there’s a 20MP f/2.0 camera sensor housed inside the notch.</p>
<p>The major feature on the Pro variant is that it comes with an under-display fingerprint sensor, which brings convenience for the users to unlock the device. The Mi 8 Lite is the least powerful model in the Mi 8 series and also the cheapest. For those wondering if it will be available outside China, we are happy to tell you it will.</p>
<p>Xiaomi&#8217;s global spokesperson, Donovan Sung, took to Twitter a short while ago to post unboxing photos of the Mi 8 Lite. The unboxing photos are for all the color variants and reveal they will all come with the same Twilight Gold box. But that isn&#8217;t all the tweet contained.</p>
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" data-width="550" data-dnt="true">
<p lang="en" dir="ltr"><a href="https://twitter.com/hashtag/Mi8Lite?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">#Mi8Lite</a> unboxing photos. <p>&mdash; Donovan Sung (@donovansung) <a href="https://twitter.com/donovansung/status/1042446155508928512?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw">September 19, 2018</a></p></blockquote>
<p><script async src="https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script></p>
<p>Mr. Sung also revealed that the Mi 8 Lite will be launching soon across the globe. Yes, this stunning phone will not be a China-exclusive device though there is no info on which countries will be getting it yet. Once we get our hands on that, we&#8217;ll let you know.</p>
<p>The Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite has a 6.26-inch 2560 x 1080 LCD display. It is powered by the Snapdragon 660 processor with 4GB/6GB of RAM and 64GB/128GB of storage. It has a 24MP front-facing camera and 12MP + 5MP dual rear cameras. The Mi 8 Lite packs a 3350mAh battery with support for fast charging. It runs Android 8.1 Oreo with MIUI on top.</p>

<p>Although Xiaomi hasn&#8217;t confirmed yet, there is a Mi 8 Pro heading for markets outside China. This device was <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/09/08/mi-8-explorer-edition-heading-outside-china-but-will-be-called-mi-8-pro/">seen at Singapore&#8217;s agency a few weeks ago</a> and it has the same transparent back as the Mi 8 Pro that launched today and the Mi 8 Explorer.  It also has a smaller notch compared to the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/xiaomi-mi-8-explorer-edition/">Mi 8 Explorer</a> which means it should be the same device as the Mi 8 Pro. However, the TENAA listing for the phone lists a smaller 2900mAh battery as against the Mi 8 Pro&#8217;s 3400mAh battery. We presume this may be an error on TENAA&#8217;s part.</p>

<p>Further, Xiaomi says that the Mi 8 Lite has a unique mirror effect which is derived through the use of &#8220;mirror nano vacuum sputtering&#8221; technology, through the nano-sputtering of 2.5D glass in a vacuum environment.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="aligncenter wp-image-212582 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Xiaomi-Mi-8-Lite-Fantasy-Blue-Youth-Edition.jpg?x44794" alt="Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite Dream Blue" width="1920" height="1080" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Xiaomi-Mi-8-Lite-Fantasy-Blue-Youth-Edition.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Xiaomi-Mi-8-Lite-Fantasy-Blue-Youth-Edition-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Xiaomi-Mi-8-Lite-Fantasy-Blue-Youth-Edition-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Xiaomi-Mi-8-Lite-Fantasy-Blue-Youth-Edition-1024x576.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px" /></p>
<p>Xiaomi says that the design for the Mi 8 Lite is inspired by the works of French Impressionist Oscar-Claude Monet. For the first time, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/tag/xiaomi/">Xioami</a> has introduced gradient color options for its smartphone.</p>
[envira-gallery id=&#8221;212662&#8243;]
<p>It comes in two gradient colors &#8212; Dream Blue and Twilight Gold. There&#8217;s also the standard solid Deep Gray color variant with the same mirror-like effect.</p>
<p>Xiaomi, which started the trend of &#8220;Youth Edition&#8221; phones, believes that it&#8217;s competitors have also started following the same. At the launch event, the company compared the Mi 8 Lite with the <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/2018/09/13/apple-iphone-xr-launched-features-price/">recently launched iPhone XR</a>, which Xiaomi says is the &#8220;Youth Edition&#8221; of iPhone.</p>
<p><img loading="lazy" class="alignnone wp-image-212587 size-full" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Xiaomi-Mi-8-Lite-thickness.jpg?x44794" alt="Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite vs iPhone XR" width="1920" height="1080" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Xiaomi-Mi-8-Lite-thickness.jpg 1920w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Xiaomi-Mi-8-Lite-thickness-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Xiaomi-Mi-8-Lite-thickness-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Xiaomi-Mi-8-Lite-thickness-1024x576.jpg 1024w" sizes="(max-width: 1920px) 100vw, 1920px" /></p>
<p>The Chinese firm showcased that the Mi 8 Lite, which measures 7.5mm in thickness, is slimmer than the iPhone XR, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/oppo-r17/">Oppo R17</a>, <a href="https://www.gizmochina.com/product/vivo-x23/">Vivo X23</a>, and Huawei P20. It also doubled-down on its comparison with iPhone XR, showcasing the difference between bezels of both the phones as well as the size of the notch on top of the display.</p>

<a href='https://www.gizmochina.com/xiaomi-mi-8-lite-top-bezel/'><img width="696" height="392" src="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Xiaomi-Mi-8-Lite-Top-bezel-1024x576.jpg?x44794" class="attachment-large size-large" alt="" loading="lazy" srcset="https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Xiaomi-Mi-8-Lite-Top-bezel-1024x576.jpg 1024w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Xiaomi-Mi-8-Lite-Top-bezel-300x169.jpg 300w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Xiaomi-Mi-8-Lite-Top-bezel-768x432.jpg 768w, https://www.gizmochina.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Xiaomi-Mi-8-Lite-Top-bezel.jpg 1920w" sizes="(max-width: 696px) 100vw, 696px" /></a>

<p>The photo is a night shot of the Central Radio and TV Tower in Beijing and it shows off the Mi 8 Lite&#8217;s low-light performance. Although there is a bit of noise, overall the picture doesn&#8217;t look bad. The watermark on the photo reveals the phone has AI dual cameras. Both cameras are said to be 12MP sensors.</p>
<p>The Mi 8 Lite will come with a 6.26-inch FHD+ display with a 19:9 aspect ratio. It will be powered by a Snapdragon 660 processor with multiple RAM and storage variants.</p>
