iPhone 15 CAD Renders Reveal Dynamic Island, USB-C Port, and More

After the iPhone 15 Pro, We now have a first look at the iPhone 15. Publication 9to5Mac has shared 3D CAD-based renders of the regular variant. The iPhone 15 series is expected to arrive later in September this year. However, plenty of leaks and rumours have been circulating about Apple’s next-generation flagships.

The 3D CAD files of the iPhone 15 reveal that it will come with no notch and Dynamic Island. This was rumoured in September last year just after the launch of the iPhone 14 series. Additionally, DSCC Analyst Ross Young had also confirmed Dynamic Island on the entire iPhone 15 lineup. The latest development solidifies all the past reports. Dynamic Island is actually a pill-shaped camera housing the front camera and Face ID sensors.

The CAD files also suggest that the iPhone 15 will feature a slightly bigger display measuring 6.2 inches compared to the 6.06 inches on the current-generation iPhone 14. As per the renders, the upcoming offering is seen with a USB-C port replacing the Lightning port to comply with EU law. Additionally, the iPhone 15 is also seen with physical power and volume rocker buttons which means that the rumoured solid-state buttons will be limited to the Pro variants.

9to5Mac reports that the CAD files aren’t final but they seem to confirm the details as a Twitter user has leaked an early live image of the iPhone 15. There’s still time for the iPhone 15 series launch and we recommend readers to take the information with a grain of salt.

Samsung’s market share remained stable at 23.2%, with its strategy of flooding the Chinese market with a large number of devices helping to maintain its position. Honor saw the most significant growth, with its market share increasing by 9.8% year-on-year to 12.8%, thanks to the success of its new generation of folding models, Magic V.

In terms of folding screen forms, the vertical folding form accounted for 42% of China’s folding phone sales in January 2023, a year-on-year increase of 2%. In terms of price, the sales of folding screen phones above 15,000 CNY accounted for 12% of the market, a sharp drop of 26% year-on-year.

AI-Powered Bixby to Answer Samsung users’ Calls

Samsung has announced a new feature for Bixby that creates an AI-generated copy of a user’s voice to answer calls. This new “Custom Voice Creator” allows users to record different sentences for Bixby to analyze and create an AI-generated copy of their tone and voice. The feature is currently only available in Korean on Galaxy S23 series devices. Here are the details…

Bixby’s AI-generated voice feature enables call answering for Samsung users

The Custom Voice Creator is designed to let users use their AI-generated voice to answer phone calls when they are unable to do so themselves. If a user can’t answer a phone call, they can use the feature to type out a sentence that will be read out to the caller in their own voice. Samsung plans to make the feature compatible with other Samsung capabilities beyond phone calls in the future.

In addition, Samsung has also announced that its Bixby Text Call feature, which transforms voice calls into written text, now supports calls in English. The feature initially launched last year in Korean and allows users to answer calls by typing a message that Bixby will then read out loud to the caller. Text Call can also transcribe what the caller says. The feature is available on Galaxy S23 devices, the Z Fold 4 and the Z Flip 4. Samsung is also rolling out the ability for users to customize Bixby’s wake-up phrase into whatever they want. The voice assistant can now also play music depending on the type of exercise that is playing on Samsung Health.

“Now, Bixby can better understand intent and process follow-up requests by understanding context and associating words previously used in interactions,” the company wrote in a blog post. “For example, Bixby users can first launch a workout on Samsung Health and then ask Bixby to play music that best suits that exercise by saying “Play music for this workout.”

Furthermore, Samsung has expanded the things that Bixby can do offline, such as setting a timer, taking a screenshot, or turning on the flashlight. This move towards offline functionality allows users to access Bixby’s capabilities even when they are not connected to the internet.

The introduction of the Custom Voice Creator feature for Bixby represents a significant step towards making AI-generated voices more accessible and personal. While the feature is currently limited to the Galaxy S23 series devices in Korean, Samsung plans to make it available to more users in the future.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 to Sport Curved Glass Design

A new leak has revealed some details regarding the design of the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 series model. The new leak has hinted that the upcoming flagship smartwatch model from the company will feature a curved glass design.

The news arrives from known tipster Ice Universe who shared the information on Twitter. Apparently, the South Korean tech giant’s next gen smart wearable device will be bringing back the curved glass design that some of the earlier Galaxy Watch models featured in the past. Keep in mind that the curved aspect is only in regards to the glass panel over the display and likely not the display itself.

Samsung

Unfortunately, the tipster has also added that there are no additional details that are currently available regarding the upcoming smartwatch. Although, we can expect more information to surface soon in the forms of leaks or rumors since the Galaxy Watch 6 is set to launch sometime later this year. We had recently also covered a patent from Samsung that detailed a Galaxy Watch that can project the display onto the users hand.

While there is a slight possibility that the brand could be looking to bring this feature onto its future smartwatches, it is highly improbable that the project smartwatch will be a part of the Galaxy Watch 6 series. So stick around for more, as we will be providing updates when additional information is available regarding this matter.

After Huawei had its smartphone operations crippled due to the US sanctions, the company focused its efforts in various other fields, which included the automobile industry. However, it seems that the brand itself isn’t looking to build a car of its own.

Back in 2020, Ren Zhengfei, the CEO of the Chinese tech giant, stated the company does not plan on making its own cars. However, there were various rumors looming regarding Huawei possibly working on an electric/smart car of its own. Since then, the brand has even launched various systems that were featured on smart cars from other firms. Now, Yu Chengdong, CEO of Huawei’s Consumer BG has also reiterated the same information regarding the company’s plans for the automobile market.

The conference will be live-streamed on YouTube and other platforms.

Xiaomi 13 Lite Specifications

The forthcoming Xiaomi 13 Lite is actually a rebadged version of Xiaomi Civi 2 from China. For the unaware, this handset went official in the company’s home country in late September.

Since the phone is on the market for months, we know everything about it. Additionally, leaks have also disclosed its features along with pricing.

Possible Sony Xperia 1 V With Model Number “XQ-DQ72” Spotted on Geekbench

Rumors about Sony Xperia 1 V have been circulating, and a mysterious model was identified by model number XQ-DQ72 on Geekbench. Last month, there was another model surfaced on Geekbench with the model number XQ-DT72 which showed 12GB RAM. According to reports from Sumahodigest and Reddit, this new model XQ-DQ72 is likely to be a high-end model, equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen2 chipset and 16GB of RAM.

If the leaked benchmark scores are accurate, the XQ-DQ72 could be a significant improvement over its predecessor, the Xperia 5 IV, which only had 8GB of RAM. However, there is some confusion over which Xperia model this new device belongs to, as the memory upgrade seems too significant to be simply a successor to the Xperia 5 IV.

Some experts speculate that the XQ-DQ72 could be the Xperia 1 V while others believe it may be a special edition or gaming edition of the Xperia 1 V or even a completely new device altogether. Last month an alleged live shot of Xperia 1 V was leaked which revealed the rear panel and the Periscope Zoom camera.

Xperia 1 IV was launched in China in June and became available in the US market in September. Similarly, the Xperia 1 III also took over two-and-a-half months to make its way from China to the US and UK. However, an insider reports that Sony is making progress with the Xperia 1 V’s testing phase and is currently two months ahead of schedule compared to its predecessor in 2022. If everything goes according to plan, the phone’s launch might occur as early as April 2023. This development could mean that fans of the Xperia line outside of China may see the release of the Xperia 1 V in the US, UK, and other countries as soon as June, pending favorable circumstances.

Vivo TWS A1 to Launch on February 25

Almost all smartphone brands sell truly wireless earphones. Vivo is no exception, however, the company releases new models less frequently than others. Also, its earbuds rarely make their way to global markets.

The company offers two lineups of wireless earbuds, namely Vivo TWS and Vivo TWS Air. Earlier today, the firm revealed that it will be introducing a new series called Vivo TWS A.

Vivo TWS A1

Vivo is set to launch a new pair of truly wireless earphones in China on February 25 (Saturday). These earbuds are officially called Vivo TWS A1. This product will be the first model under the new Vivo TWS A family.

As of now, the brand has only revealed the design of the product. The teaser image shows that the case will be ovular in shape. It will arrive in white and black color options.

Whereas, the buds will resemble the AirPods. They will be semi-in-ear type and therefore, they won’t feature silicone ear tips.

All in all, the Vivo TWS A1 looks identical to the Vivo TWS Air from last year. Perhaps, the new model may replace the old one or it may have slightly better specs and carry a costlier price tag.

The Vivo TWS Air debuted at ¥199 (~$30). Hence, the upcoming Vivo TWS A1 could cost about the same or a bit more expensive. Either 1way, it should be more affordable than the premium Vivo TWS 3 series.

Since we are still two days away from the launch, there’s a chance that the firm may reveal more details about this product in the next few hours. We will be updating our readers as soon as that happens.

DxOMark Says Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra Camera Falls Short in Low-light Situations

Galaxy S23 Ultra boasts an impressive camera system. However, according to a recent review by DxOMark, a trusted source for camera and audio quality assessments, the S23 Ultra has fallen short of expectations and was ranked only 10th in the list of best smartphone cameras, trailing behind phones from Huawei, Google, Honor, Apple, and Xiaomi.

Despite this setback, the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s camera system still has several strengths. It performs consistently across the board and is a great all-around camera phone, according to DxOMark. The reviewers also praised its photo rendering, good autofocus in photo and video recording, and strong telephoto capabilities at long range.

However, the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s camera system reportedly falls short in low-light conditions, losing image detail and shutter lag. Additionally, there are instabilities with focus and exposure in backlit scenes. These issues could potentially affect the phone’s overall camera experience.

In terms of ranking, the Galaxy S23 Ultra tied with the Google Pixel 7 and the Vivo X90 Pro+ for 10th place, with each phone scoring 140 points for the rear-facing camera. The S23 Ultra’s selfie camera also tied with the Asus ZenFone 7 Pro with a score of 137, and both phones tied for 10th place in this category.

Overall, while the Galaxy S23 Ultra’s camera system may not be the best among its competitors, it still has several strengths that make it a solid choice for a camera phone. Samsung’s latest flagship phone provides a great overall experience, from hardware to software, which is consistent with the company’s brand. It remains to be seen whether Samsung will address the reported issues in future updates to further improve the S23 Ultra’s camera system.
